Details of finalized divorce

  • Kate gets the mansion (how she will afford this we have no clue)
  • Kate gets primary custody of the kids--that just means their address is her address
  • Jon has visitation rights
  • Jon reportedly must pay monthly child support on the order of five figures.
  • No spousal support/alimony for either

Radaronline has an interview with Kate's lawyer.

They are already hinting that Jon better keep up with his child support. They are going to torture this dad until he relents & viola you will have Kate & TLC all over the airwaves the children must work so that Kate can support these kids cuz the dad won't support them.

This is all sickening, inhumane and an absolute spin. They wont shut their mouths but Jon has to keep the duct tape on his.

As far as alimony/spousal support they both think they are gonna be these mega stars and their ignorance...oh this whole thing makes me sick

All I care about is that those children are never filmed again.

I don't understand why these people can't just say "no comment." Two little words.

It makes them look vindictive and greedy and mean-spirited to make all these snide comments about Jon and child support. Child support's purpose is for the KIDS, not to screw Jon. Whatever.

This whole thing makes me sick. Kate ended the marriage in 2008 and now here she is landing on her feet again. As far as these comments from Kate's team, they could all be B.S. Of course they want to spin it in her behavior, but I don't understand why. Kate is such a polarizing individual that slamming Jon and rubbing it in his face that he lost won't help Kate's cause.

You know I've encountered happy lawyers and parties in child custody cases I've worked on .... overjoyed when they "win."

But most attorneys I know feel as I do, that no one "wins" in cases where you're trying to divide up a child. It is not a win when your 10 year marriage has been destroyed. You've won nothing now that you must raise your kids as a single parent, that the kids are not going to grow up with married parents anymore. Kate has won nothing to celebrate over. This is a heartbreaking situation for the children and nothing more. To celebrate it, as if you've won the lottery, is entirely inappropriate and, quite frankly, very telling. It was never about the kids, not now and probably not ever.

I'm an adult child of divorce and seeing your parents fight, hate each other and end up divorcing is absolutely the most painful thing a kid can experience. It literaly changes your life, how you perceive people and life experiences. Kate's selfishness over not going to counseling makes me see how self-centered and hateful she really is. And to smear Jon in public is awful, awful, awful. Bad karma coming Kate's way.

Kate Fans on Radar posted that TLC paid for Kate mansion, and gave her money when Jon took money from the account..It sad when a divorce happen when children are involved..The children love their dad just as much as they love their mom..

administrator: Does it make sense that Jon has to pay child support, in the 5 figure range per month, when he is broke? What happened here? any insight on this?

lifeoriley said...

The above comment is my question, also. How can they get blood from a stone if Jon is broke? Threaten him with jail? If so, nice going, Kate. Also, if the mansion was "gifted" to Kate, wouldn't she incur taxes on that gift? Or, does the gift "giver" pay taxes? Hmmm.
TLC and Kate want to absolutely crush Jon to dust so he relents and lets the kids be filmed again. However, even if he does so, the kids will be in school next year full-time (their school is about an hour away). That means TLC will try to start filming in the spring through the summer to get as many episodes done before then. A "working vacation" for the kids seems likely. Poor kids.
At any rate 6 year olds do not have the same "cute" factor as babies. The show, as all shows, eventually will be cancelled. Then what?

The only explanation is that Jon ISN'T broke. Child support calculations are not pulled out of thing air, each state including PA uses a complicated formula based on income, assets, and a whole lot of other factors. In PA, once you plug in the formula the court can then deviate SLIGHTLY from it considering two factors 1. the reasonable needs of the child or spouse seeking support and 2. the ability of the obligor to provide support.

Well, we know with eight kids they'll need a good amount of support. But the judge also has to look at Jon's ABILITY to pay. I can only assume a judge has determined he has the ability to pay. There may be a lot of assets we don't know about. Or, a judge may have based it on his income as an IT tech and told him to go get a job. Since Jon is pretty much barred from making money off appearances, it's doubtful a judge is going to base it on his money from appearances. Another court has already said he can't.

Something fishy is going on here, but I can pretty much promise that the judge isn't putting a number on Jon he honestly thinks he will never be able to pay. That isn't how it works. Moreover, Jon could contest it if he didn't think it was fair, which he never did.

Here's a thought. I always assumed this family was blowing money like no tomorrow. Maybe all this time they've been amassing a lot of wealth. But telling the public about it doesn't fit into the poor Kate or poor Jon, financially wrecked from divorce and all the terrible things TLC did. It doesn't make a good story....plus, why would Kate or Jon admit they've got a ton of money? No one will give them freebies, and it just makes them look worse for using their kids.

This child support order is a strong indication there is a lot of dough out there.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

And if she were broke, why is she hanging onto the mansion with her 8 kids? Obviously she thinks she can afford it. Obviously there is no foreclosure, at least not yet. That house is absurdly expensive. Someone has to be paying for it. TLC?

I have very strong suspicions there is a lot of money out there.

Anonymous said...

Of course there is money the public doesn't know about. Come one - how could Jon just pull $150,000+ out of a bank account? Who keeps that kind of money in a single bank/account that they can get at so easily? That money/account was just their day to day money - the checking account. I assure you, there are millions, they'll split the assets as part of the divorce, and that's how they came to the conclusion Jon should pay 5 figures a month.

Lauren said...

Jon did accuse Kate of hiding the money from her book proceeds. Jon even mentioned that they had 11 bank accounts.

Kate's people are capitalizing on the agreement being confidential because they are issuing statements to spin it in Kate's favor. For all we know she could have been the big loser.

RE; Jon not really being broke and subsequently being ordered to pay huge child support - you're right about this! Just remembered - didn't he buy a $1 million condo in Utah about a year ago? Yes, they probably had lotsa money stashed from the churches too - and he legally should have gotten half of the book proceeds.

puddymoors said...

I'm just wondering if someone might clarify. Now that Jon has been ordered to abide by his agreement with TLC, does that mean that TLC have to also abide by the agreement and continue to pay him? Does anyone know any details on that?
Could that be where his income is coming from as well?

If Kate got the house in the property distribution it stands to reason that Jon would get equal property or CASH. So, if the mansion is worth $1 million, then Jon would have gotten $1 million in other assets (less any debt the court made him pay out of his settlement).

From what Jon said earlier this summer about TLC paying for everything from laundry services to bodyguards to catering to travel expenses and clothing, I don't think J&K had all that many living expenses especially when you figure in all the freebies (clothes, shoes, food, detergent, etc) they continued to receive thru this time.

I've got a feeling they were able to save quite a lot of their income (which was considerable) if you count Kate's book deal, their CASH donations from the 'love offerings' from church speeches, etc. I think they were sitting pretty well. Admin, your explaination of why Jon would have been issued such a high child support amount makes even more sense if you consider what they were probably able to save during the three years they were taken care of by TLC.

Why do I have a feeling this will not end well for Jon.....

Was there any truth to the ET video that the house has been gifted to the children by TLC?

kamilleon said...

There have been MANY local rumors that the house is held in trust for the Gosselin children by TLC. The terms were rumpred to be after 10 years of filming, the house would become property of the children.

Now I do not know how true these "rumors" are but I have heard the same rumor from several different sources and one person who knows Jon and Kate said Jon told her and her husband this earlier this year.

Hmm the tangled webs we weave.

10 years of filming?! Their entire childhoods taken, and then the kids get a 1 million dollar house (which may or may not appreciate, given this economy and the agrarian location)
to be split 8 ways.

TLC is ruthless, draconian and absurdly greedy.

If Oprah is backing this she should feel ashamed.

I just want Kate to go away!!!

kamilleon said...

Again... These are RUMORS. TLC had an option to renew Jon and Kate+8 indefinitely. That much we DO know based on what has been revealed at Jon's trial thus far. The people Jon made the comment to are not people who seek the limelight and are still in shock over J&K's divorce because as of Easter this year, they were all hunky-dorey acting like a family despite everything that was happening around them!

Until someone produces the actual trust, who knows what to believe.

Right, all is fair in Gosselin and war.

Why hasn't anyone beside Aunt Jodi and/or Uncle Kevin spoken out on behalf of this family?

There will be conspiracy rumors about this group until Kingdom come. They were a made up reality family by a corporation that has and will call all the shots unless Jon is successful in his litigation against TLC.

Is Jon going to be able to file suit against TLC for Alienation of Affection? Sounds absurd, I know but it is really like they are a 3rd party that destroyed this family?

It will be interesting to see Discovery changed to OWN. Who would love to see Katie Irene boss Oprah around and hit her with a wooden spoon?
