BREAKING NEWS: TLC admits they didn't pay the kids and didn't have permits

TLC also says they will comply with Jon's request to stop filming the kids: "If the father of the children states an objection of the kids being filmed, we're gonna honor that."

Radar online has running commentary from the hearing ongoing today, in which Jon is reported to not be in attendance but is expected later for his testimony.

Typically the worker obtains those permits, not the company for which the child was working. Why those permits weren't checked is another story, but not obtaining the permits is not suspect.

I live in PA, and when my kids wanted to work, they had to show/get work permits before anyone would hire them. Getting the permits is the responsibility of the worker, however, no reputable employer would hire an under-aged worker without one.

It's not really an issue of TLC being required to obtain permits, but they had no business having anyone working on their set without proper permits. They have brushed this aside all along claiming it was a reality show and it wasn't necessary. Hogwash.

While getting the permits is the responsibility of the worker...and in this case the kids were 2 for heaven's sake, so that would be their parents' responsibility, it is the responsibility of the employer to not have anyone working without a permit. In fact, that is illegal, and they could be subject to thousands of dollars in fines for every breach.
