Jon spotted in Orlando

Thanks to a tipster, we've learned Jon was in Orlando, Florida today. No kids, outside a 7 Eleven on Kirkman Road, downing a red cherry slurpee. Jon was last spotted in Los Angeles a few days ago when the kids landed there with Kate.

Maybe he was auditioning for a job at Disney. Dumbo or Goofy.

LOL....I just got home from a doctor's appointment in O-Town. If I'd have known this I would've looked for him and snapped some pics for ya.

But you know what? My sister commented while we were cruising down International Drive how there are so many people there who look Asian or Hispanic. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 100 Jon look-a-likes in Orlando today.

Wasn't Jon spotted at the airport when the kids came back from the DWTS trip?

Back in the 1980's when I was in my 20's, when somehow I had a free round trip bus pass on Greyhound, I did something wild and crazy and knew one day I would tell someone:

I took the red eye bus from San Jose to LA, spent the whole day in Disneyland, that night took the red eye bus back to San Jose. By noon I was on a plane to Orlando and the following day I was in Disneyworld.

See I figured the best way to compare the two parks was to be at both of them the same week.

But I can't imagine what Jon Gosselin's excuse could possibly be unless he is comparing red cherry slurpees from California and Florida for TLC?

Finally making the trip back to their native Pennsylvania, Kate Gosselin and the gang were spotted arriving at the airport in Philadelphia on Friday (July 30).

Joined by bodyguard pal Steve Neild and her brood of eight kiddies, the TLC reality mom did her best to maintain order after touching down following the long flight from Los Angeles.

It was very congested with tourists there today. More congested than normal.

Come on Jon, getting a slurpee at 7-11 is total amateur hour. If Jon thinks he is a celeb (and he does) then he needs to control his image and actions.

Hate to say it but that's exactly what Kate does. Even though she is a washed out reality t.v. shrew-she knows how to play the game of controlling her image.

If Jon thinks he has a future in entertainment-then he needs to be a lot smarter about what he tweets and what he does.

Does anyone else get frustrated with how emotionally immature Jon is?

Ya can see her BIG flintstone toe a mile away..betch she goes for her pedi tomorrow along with the tanning and mani..maybe make a stop at her local Target for school supplies. Ya got 4 more weeks Katie till the lil ones begin school...

Come on Kate. How tough can it be to control your "brood" if you have four+ people helping you out. Who buys this crap?

She would be completely helpless and hopelessly lost if she was ever left on her own with her kids for more than half a day.

Nothing like sleeping in your own bed, bet the kids are hapy to finally be home after working on the road for 3 weeks. Katezilla, give the kids the rest of the summer off, they have worked their tails off for you over half their summer off!!!!!!!!!!!!

More Phila. Airport photos? Really? Lillian Glass has made it known that there is NO way that the Paps are just hanging out at the Phila Airport...it is NO coinky dink. The only airport where they consistently hang out is in LA (their base) and NYC period. So that means that it was scripted and Kate's team called the Paps. How can she keep doing this to her kids? She see's the discomfort that they experience and on purpose sets them up for more? This is more a monster than a Mom, IMO.

The children are finally home after almost two weeks of filming. Jon was spotted with a slurpee in a convenience store at a tourist area in Orlando. Is this Jon's weekend with his children? Hope he makes it home from Orlando so his exhausted children can be immediately shuttled off to his apartment for some private daddy time, with the pool/park pap shots and daddy tweets.

Admin just posted the other day that the paps DO NOT hang out at the L.A. airport.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

No I don't think the paps hang out at LAX. I've seen many celebs there and I've traveled with an entourage before, no paps in sight. You have to tip these people off and we actually wanted to travel in privacy, as most people do.

LAX has hundreds of terminals, it's huge. It would be like finding a needle in a haystack for the paps to hang around LAX all day just hoping to catch just the right terminal and just the right baggage claim and a celeb worth taking their photo. Your New York connection will give you a call and say Brad Pitt just got on a plane to LAX it's this airline. Then the paps gets on the internet to find the flight and gate and heads over. That's how it works.

Paps operate almost exclusively on tips in any situation. There are a few areas they will hang out, notably some trendy areas in places like Bev Hills, but that's it. If it's someone really huge right now like say Sandra Bullock they might camp out at her house then follow her, but that's only for really huge people.

There's just no way they could find the right baggage claim for the Gosselins without a tip, be it at LAX or Philly.

And proof the paps are not all over LA, how come we never saw a single solitary photo of them in LA???? Kate didn't want to tip them because she's looking at houses and doesn't want that to leak.

Midnight Sun said...

"Kate didn't want to tip them because she's looking at houses and doesn't want that to leak."

You absolutely know that for a fact, or is this speculation? Insider tip, maybe? They got to LA on Wednesday and left for home on Friday. That must have been some fast emergency house shopping! I'd think if she would be looking at houses, she'd schedule some time there to do it while the kids did the Disney thing. Two days in LA to look at houses, meet with realtors, scheduled showings, just doesn't seem to be worth it.
Of course, the speculation may be that she already found a house some time ago, and had the settlement scheduled! Nothing about Kate surprises me.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It's speculation of course. It's a theory.

She could have found a house already and was just in town to sign paperwork. Or when you are wealthy and a celeb you can have everything set up for you, houses you want to look at, etc., so you can just breeze in for a few days and look at everything, then breeze out, and work out all the details over the phone. She's not like a regular person where this kind of trip should take her weeks. Not if you have someone doing all the legwork ahead of time.

But wait how can that be as it all rests on Kate, according to her. All, all, all!

I'm not sure how it is in LA, but here in PA, you don't need to be a celebrity to have a realtor do all of the leg work ahead of time. That's what they do! It's all done over the phone, they show you pictures over the internet, you decide which ones you want to see, and they schedule the showings.
However, depending on the number of houses you want to see, you can spend many days trudging in and out of houses!

Where DID this speculation come from all of a sudden (again) that Kate is looking for a house in CA? Seems if she was serious about relocating to CA, she'd have maintained a bit of contact w/her "friends" from DWTS. Unless she has some multi-million dollar contract, Kate isn't going anywhere. I say the story of Jon and Kate in LA at the same time, was just that, a story and a plant to start some buzz for the next show..btw, when is the next show? Also btw, I bet Jon is now earning more from TLC than just his support pmt. Hey, TLC has to make it worth his while to film his kids..Jon can't be bought for a measley $5000 a mo.

I have worked very closely with DCFS (California's CPS) in my work. The appeal I won last week was against DCFS. (yeea!) I hate to tell you a family like this would glide through social workers in CA like butter. The sad truth is if you are a white, middle to upper middle class family living in the right part of town, DCFS won't touch you with a ten foot pole and if they do and you end up with a voluntary case plan without ever seeing a judge. They have a special division for celebrities. Believe me many celebs have talked to social workers. VERY FEW are so bad they get filed on. Courtney Love was one of the few who ever ended up in court and she was a total wreck. Just look at how DCFS is handling Mel Gibson's case, going around saying he's such a great father and that they have no concerns (say what???). I have seen many, many cases of domestic violence that don't even come close to what he did to the mother of his child while the child watched.

There is nothing Kate is doing I see that would warrant a judge to get involved. At the most, social workers might come out and give her a few parenting tips.

That said I firmly believe most kids are worse off in foster care than being with abusive parents. Absent severe physical abuse and sex abuse, foster care and removal from their parents is what destroys these kids more than abuse ever could.

Think how terrifying foster care is for kids....MOST kids react with things like shutting down, crying for days, wetting the bed, acting out in school. They are ripped from the only family they know, put with strangers, many times put in a new school, a monitor has to watch them when they visit their parents, and they are interviewed and examined over and over to investigate what happened. It's AWFUL. On top of it all they may or may not go back with their mommy someday--the uncertainty kills kids.

I am strongly in favor of doing everything possible to preserve kids in the home short of creating a situation where a child could die. Of course because of lawsuits and actual deaths that have happened, kids are being detained left and right these days out here.....but the fact is, these kids are Hispanic, black, poor, and/or illegal. It's just the raw stats, the truth.

I think it would be nice to force Kate to do some counseling for both her and the kids, which can be done with a family maintenance plan. But I don't want to see these poor kids thrown in foster care, talk about just making everything worse.

I don't condone how Kate treats them but I can honestly say I have never advocated for CPS to get involved as others have.

Kate has a bigger reason not to come to LA--child labor laws. Maybe she should read the law before she makes any rash decisions.

I don't believe the Orlando sighting. Jon is tweeting that he took Ellen's dogs for a walk and their watching a movie. Doesn't sound like is anywhere but PA.

Administrator:
Had to agree with your post abou CPS. As an MSW, I have seen that the burden of proof for family court to intervene and actually "do something" is very high. As far as quality foster homes, they are few and far between. How many folks here are foster parents or know of others who do provide safe havens for children? It is not an easy thing to do, with the demands of work, family, etc.
So I don't think Kate would be scared off by the laws in CA, I do think that she and TLC may be sick of the negative publicity they get every time Rep. Murt talks about passing legislation that would protect reality show children. Although this legislation, if realized, would make things inconvenient for the money grubbing child exploiters, it would not prohibit filming in PA. The continued raising of this issue in the Public Eye has got to be a bitter pill for Kate and TLC to swallow. I do think that is why she went into hiding for a few weeks.
I don't think that the kids will get relief until the public just stops feeding this monster and refuses to watch this cruelty. Kate is a cruel, horrible, mother. There! I feel better.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Actually what's funny is the burden of proof for child abuse is the lowest it can possibly be. Prima facie to detain kids...basically is there a 51% chance that there is abuse. And preponderance of evidence to sustain allegations....which is more likely than not abuse happened. This is nothing like the beyond a reasonable doubt in criminal courts. It's explained best by saying you know how OJ was aquitted in criminal court but he was convicted in civil court? Easier standard of proof.

The reason this family won't make it to a judge is because of who they are and the special treatment they would get by DCFS's special celebrity division which DOES exist I know this for a fact, and because there is SOO much child abuse going on in L.A. there's a hundred other families in line before them doing a lot worse to their kids. It's basically a resources thing. There are 30,000 kids in foster care in L.A. There are only 20 courtrooms to deal with these kids. This does not even count the kids who are left with their parents but have an open case, and kids placed with relatives or friends, which don't count as "foster kids." It is a strapped system.

I had to read this twice and thought...did she REALLY say that? Foster care is worse than having abusive parents? Are you talking about foster care exclusively in California, or nationwide?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

You heard me right. I'm talking about foster care in general. Have you ever been removed from your parents? Have you ever had your kids removed from you? Imagine being ripped from your parents while your mother screams for you, thrown in a cop car like you are a criminal, and placed with some strangers who have five other foster kids who bully you and a family only doing it for the monthly checks. You maybe see your parents once a week if you're lucky. You have a new school, you don't see any of your other extended family, you live 40 miles and sometimes much further from everything you've ever known. Yes, it is sometimes much more traumatic than a parent who hits you with a belt, or a mom who is bipolar, or a dad who does cocaine on the weekends. Yes.

In the Gosselin situation foster care would probably be far than Kate.

Foster care kids versus kids who are placed with relatives, friends, or with the other parent, consistently and stastistically have lower grades, more problems in school, more teen pregancies and more drug use. The consistently and regularly go on to have kids who end up in foster care too.

Yes, foster care is often worse than abusive parents. Which is why a lot of focus right now is on preserving kids in the home, or placing kids with relatives. The California legislature just extended the "relative preference" law through reunification. In short, there is a much longer period that a judge is looking for any and all friends or relatives to place a child with. It used to be you only have a few months to place with relatives and then if they were in foster care the preference was not to move kids around.

Remember the right to parent your kid is a constiutional right and if it were easy to take people's kids away, then that's a place I don't want to live. The focus should be on preserving children in their own homes with the right services in place, and it often is.

I forgot who asked but the right to your child IS in the Constitution. Doe v. Irwin a 1985 case established that the rights of parents to the care, custody and nurture of their children is of such character that it cannot be denied without violating those fundamental principles of liberty and justice which lie at the base of all our civil and political institutions, and such right is a fundamental right protected by the first, fifth, nineth and fourteenth amendments.

What follows is if they take your kid from you, you are entitled to full due process of the law--which is basically notice and the right to a hearing. They used to just take people's kids and talk it out at a round table. Now we have full trials and full courtrooms, which is a good thing.

********

When is "used to" if parental rights were established under those amendments, the 14th being ratified (I think) right after the Civil War? If memory serves me, there was a case in the early 1900s (Wilson?) that provided for the rights of parents to parent a child providing that such care was not detrimental to the well-being of that child. Certainly the 1985 case was not the first to challenge a parent's constitutional right to parent a child, nor has it been the last.

You're right -- thank goodness a child can't be grabbed and thrown into the foster care system without due process of law. I'm just wondering about the time frame -- when DID they (who is "they"...CPS?) take kids away from their families and talk about it at a round table discussion? If it was after the ratification of the 14th amendment, then all of those situations in which kids were removed went unchallenged from the late 1800s until the 1985 case in which parental rights were upheld.
