Z posted this news today. I am so glad that Rep. Murt has disagreed and on the record.

'Kate Plus 8' child work permits defended
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Tuesday defended work permits it issued allowing the 6-year-old sextuplets of Kate Gosselin to appear in the reality series "Kate Plus 8." A department official says the permits are valid, and the case is closed. Bottom line, it looks as if the TLC show goes on despite questions raised by child advocates about the permits.

Last week, Pennsylvania State Rep. Thomas Murt questioned the validity of the permits, which run until Oct. 20, since they only allowed the children to appear in "public performances" -- not TV productions. Children under seven years of age are not allowed to appear in TV shows in Pennsylvania.

While Murt asked the attorney general to investigate the matter of the permits, that has not yet happened. Furthermore, under rules of prtocul, it will only happen if the depertment of Labor & Industry asks the attorney general to rule on the matter.

And Tuesday, in a phone interview with the Baltimore Sun, Troy Thompson, a spokesman for the Department of Labor & Industry, said his office will not be asking the attorney general's advice.

Thompson defended the "performance" permits saying "they do what they need to do in terms of applying legal protections governing their (the sextuplet's) hours and education, the types of activities that they can perform, and making sure that we have access to all the filming done in Pennsylvania -- and they also mandate the earnings continue to be conserved for the children."

Aiming for absolute clarity, I asked Thompson the following question: "So, as far as you are concerned these permits are fine, they are the right ones that the children should have, and as far as your department is concerned, the issue is closed."

He answered, "Yes."

But Murt issued a statement in response to that saying he disagrees: "“While the genre of Reality TV is new, the law is not. It is explicit. Children under 7 in Pennsylvania are not allowed on television for their own health and well-being. I still believe L&I must seek the advice from the Attorney General on this apparent inconsistency in the law and the work permits.”

Can't wait for the new look.
One question....is there a way to have each post numbered? It would make picking up from the last read post so much easier. As it is right now (especially with the longer threads) I start at the bottom and work my way up.
Preesi has a gray bar dividing the read from the unread, and Moon had numbers.
Just a thought. Love the site no matter how it looks and appreciate you being a terrific admin.

How are the sheeple spinning Kate's disappearance? It is about time they got the fact that she invites the paps in and gets paid for the photos and always had the choice to live off camera and out of the tabloids, as she is doing now. It is also time for people to quit watching the show, let the dimished ratings save the kids.

Oddly enough, that guy is no more attractive (to me) in the after picture than he was in the before picture...he's just arranged differently. LOL

I like change. Change is good.

I think Kate is off with the twins for a little mother and daughter bonding time,or damage control. She's trying to convince Mady to keep her mouth shut when the cameras are rolling. Mady, calling Kate on her shit and how unfair she and Cara get treated, doesn't look good for mommy dearest.

Very nice look! Keeps the eyes focused on center and the colors are not to wild.

I haven't noticed if all the tabloid shows are ignoring the entire "Under age permits" issue. How are they spinning it? Or is it being avoided industry wide so they can still bite from the "apple" Kate and get the ratings?

Just read a blurb on MSNBC about the Work permits and how they are being defended by the DOL in PA. The first comment pretty much summed up how the train wreck has been (bad spelling and all). I wonder how the sheeple would see this comment?

"jumpintoconclusions
this show epitomizes our societies fasination with reality tv.. even when it is as benign as watching a family live it's life...

the problem(s) is/are, that it isnt reality tv anymore. the people viewed/televized arent real.. they are affected and enriched by the tv producers and sponsors...

this show was supposed to be about the hardship of watching a family as they struggle to raise teh septuplets? (not sure how many kids really, as i dont watch the crap)

but it is obvious that they arent struggling... she has plastic surgery, she wears fashionable clothes, as does the kids... they get gifts of things like pre fab play houses, and other dontated goodies in exchange for promotional time on the show.. etc.

and now, with the absence of the father, it further highlights our societies aboslute sexism. we dont care about the children, or thier relationship with thier father... we only care about the milf, (wannabe) and whether or not she is a good mom, or a great mom... while believing dad is a puke not worthy of five minutes of our time...

this isnt reality... it is exploitation to make a buck.. both by the tv show and by the mom...

makes me wish i could have a dozen kids so i can have my 8 years of fame...

I don't think you can. I have several friends with Blogger sites and they say it's not set up for that.

Dear Administrator,

Kudos on the new look, and THANX for being here.

When Bohemian Moon tired of the Greedlins and their Garbage, I thought that was the end for me and blogging. Then I found your site. Not since B. Moon departed, has there been a site with such eloquent AND intelligent people. And I appreciate and enjoy ALL of you - thank you so much!

To Justme said- Wow, I totally agree with you! I was thinking that they read what all of us had to say about the twins, and she was TOLD to take her twins, and make things better! Yes, I agree 100% that that is what she is doing right now.Making nice to poor Maddy, being sure she stops causing her "problems".

I'd love it if Jon had some similar before and after pictures soon. Anything to tick off Kate and take the spotlight off her. If I were Jon, that would give me all the incentive I needed.
