Paparazzi just happened to be at the Alaska Zoo

So how did the paparazzi know to show up at the zoo at the exact same time Kate dragged the kids there? Professional photos have emerged this morning of Kate's trip to the zoo with the kids.

We think a trip to Alaska is wonderful. Go ahead, take the kids to Alaska. Just a couple questions for Kate:

1. Why do you have to film it?
2. Are the college funds paid up yet? You just told us they weren't. I wonder if the kids will be glad they went to Alaska this week when they are 18 and get the first tuition bill they can't afford.
3. Why do you have to take the kids on three huge trips in three months? Aren't they tired? Are these the faces of jet-lagged kids? Or perhaps just kids worried about how they will pay for college. Sorry kids, your college tuition has been invested in airplane tickets, hotels, and Mommy's boobs.

Me, I'm just grateful that they're being filmed in a place where Kate has to wear a jacket - that's a relief from the halter top photos. But if she seriously thinks the public sees this as 'vacations', especially in an economy where many families are limited to staycations she is mistaken once again. But I also doubt she thinks about anyone but herself.

Oh my, where are high heels? Must have gotten really tired carrying them around the Statue of Liberty AND she's still trying to wash the gum off the bottom of her feet. Mr Steve must have advised her use some commom sense and wear sensible shoes. OH, she has them in her shoulder bag along with the bibs and sippy cups.
The kids look miserable. So sad.

Must agree with what others have said. These 'travelogue' storylines have become quite a bore and only serve to demonstrate TLC's lack of imagination (likewise their lack of insight into what viewers might be interested in). I doubt many viewers are thrilled to spend an hour of their time watching this entitled mother drag her children from one city to the next. I think it's cruel - summer is half-over and those kids probably just want to be home enjoying their time away from school. I think TLC is totally out of touch -- if they were ever IN touch! BORING! They've played this record too many times.

I think that we NEED to see the pics of the kids to remind us that our idea of a vacation and Kates idea of a vacation are 2 totally different things. I never see these kids laughing or smiling when with Kate. do any of the people at TLC have kids of their own? how do they go home at night look at their kids knowing what they are doing to the Gosselins?

TLC stinks said...

Wow. Those kids must be exhausted. Think about adjusting to the time change.

Steve is there, Anonymous.

TLC doesn't get it that putting these kids in different locations and watching their reactions is sick, plus Kate is not a natural person on camera. The only reason I can come up with for the Alaska trip is to cash in on the Palin publicity.

Really, truly, this show has morphed into a human zoo exhibit.

Anyone know anything about this? Isn't it funny how it coincided with PA labor dispute AND Kate's seeming disappearance?

I've read that Bristol and Levi are shopping around for their own reality show. Possibly TLC are interested and they will meet up with Kate during the segment as a way of introducing them to TLC viewers.

TLC does seem to be sqeezing as much out of these children as they can during what should be a care free summer vacation from school.

We are just seeing one picture of one minute of a 24 hour day! The kids did not look that happy in all the pics posted the last time they were with Jon. Yes, there was one with one of the girls chasing Ellen and she was smiling. There are any number of reasons it could be that the kids are not smiling in the above pic, but I don't think not having fun is one of them. Could have been a long day, or maybe just having your photo taken by strangers for the millionth time!

Not everything has to do with or is controlled by Kate! The posting feature has been disabled for at least 3 or 4 days. Mel Gibson's latest problems took up the first 2 pages for days. Kate's labor issue barely made a small post. The servers were overloaded because of all the people commenting on Mel!

One more thought - yes she is all bundled up in the pictures we have seen so far but I'll bet if you watch the show, she will be falling out of her bikini at the hotel indoor pool.

The children might indoor the experience of the nearly all-day daylight this time of year - the land of the midnight sun.

Film the children traipsing around after their mother who doesn't even try to hide her disgust with them anymore, add some of that irritating cheery plucking violin music in the background and voila, you have a new episode. Those kids have just got to be getting sick and tired (literally) of making memories with mommy dearest...and Steve.

How do you know that the pics were taken by professional paparazzi? Regular citizens take pictures of celebrities all the time and sell them. I personally know of two college girls on vacation who paid for their next semester of school by selling a pic of a famous couple rumored to be breaking up who had eluded the paparazzi.

So sad, so sad. I live in PA and have also been to Alaska. The general scenery in Alaska is very similar to that in PA ... certainly similar enough through the eyes of a 6-year-old that they won't appreciate the difference. Here's a heads-up to Kate: If you want your kids to visit a zoo, take them to the Philly Zoo. If it's an ocean they want to see, go to the Jersey shore. And if it's mountains that interest them, take a drive through central PA. Most assuredly, there will be very few memorable moments for the G8 from this latest trip ... just lost time away from the lazy, hazy days of summer spent in their own backyard.

Make family memories that are going to have a meaning...rent a cabin in the mountains, or a beach house at the Jersey Shore, year after year, making it a family tradition. THAT'S the stuff memories are made of, and to which kids look forward -- not dragging them around to places for which there will only be a distant memory.

But, Kate wants the kids to be cultured, and I guess she figures not much culturing can be done in Wildwood (although I'd love to be on the beach right now)...

Why isn't Kate Plus Eight called "Our Family Vacations," or "Eight Little Faces' Travelogue?"
Remember what Betty White said about family vacations...looking at pictures of someone else's vacation used to be considered punishment.

Wow,
this "reality tv/truman show lifestyle" this family lives must be getting exhausting. Do these kids ever get downtime?? I mean real downtime........for example, just being able to live a fairly regular life, without the constant "truman showness". I can barely get a decent picture of my 4yr old. He hates to take pictures! Kate is slowly damaging these kids......what will happen when they are older and cannot live this lifestyle on their own?? And I can bet she will not give them a dime once they leave home. This family is a traveling circus/truman show that just never quits and for what?? So Kate can make memories and offer her kids opportunities?? Or should I say give herself opportunities and a lifestyle she thinks she deserves. I truly believe she planned his whole mess even before she concieved the G6. She was able to have twins, so she probably figured if she popped out a litter it would get her where she is at today. Sad part, is the kids truly suffer from this deceptive gameplan. The thought of her scheming this from day one is a disgust. And to use christianity as her base, even worse. I am absolutely floored, that she has been able to carry on this fasade(sp?) for this long. She is truly underserving, and will pay dearly for what she has done to her kids childhoods(ie: lindsay lohan, gary coleman). She needs to quit this nonsense and go home and give the kids a chance of normalcy and privacy(like that will ever happen). Rant over

kidsRablessing said...

lol,
ok rant almost over. In my opinion, vacations are nice, but tiring and I am grown. My kids love trips(the very few we go on)but heck, they are ready to be home within days of the trip. They get tired fast and start missing their home. Fortunately, I live in Florida and there is lots to do in this state, but you can only go on so many trips and then it is not really fun anymore. We really have not been able to afford a good vacation this summer, but my kids have had a blast at summer camp, beach and lake daytrips, soccer tounaments, plastic pool and homemade sandbox in the yard, free Vacation Bible school, playdates at the park, storytime at the library. Do you think these simple summer fun things ring a bell to Kate??

TLC stinks said...

The kids show no emotion in those photos. Surely they are jet lagged. But mama Kate doesn't care.

Here's what the show as come to: free vacations, dress kids alike, call the paps, get nannies to watch kids, and then have dinners with Steve.

Sheesh said...

JET LAGGED? They didn't leave the country ahole how do you know what they are feeling?

Who would go to the Jersey Shore or the Philly zoo year after year after year? How boring! I wish someone had paid for me to travel the way these kids do when I was young. All we did was go to the Jersey Shore and look at the same thing year after year. I love the shore but an opportunity like this doesn't happen twice. Why are you all complaining? They weren't taken out of school. You complain about anything.

Hot In PA said...

My kids love trips(the very few we go on)but heck, they are ready to be home within days of the trip.

Smiling here, Blessing. We've been very fortunate that we have been able to take very nice vacations and cruises and the kids love the trips. However, the best vacations for them have been doing all of the things you mentioned. I remember on one of our trips to Disney where we stayed at the GF, we cut the trip short by two days. When we checked out, the desk reservationist said, "You're going home EARLY???" The kids were tired (and hot) being dragged all over the theme parks and couldn't wait to get home because we got a new swing set, and the older ones were excited because some well-known NBA players were coming to town for a basketball "seminar!"

We could have saved mega-bucks if we had just stayed at home!

AuntieAnn said...

When they get older their "memories with mommy" are going to consist of airports, camera crews, bodyguards, wires, mics, camera flashes, people doggin them everywhere they go, and their warden mother ordering them around like a frigid old schoolmarm. The places they went to will just be memories held with contempt for the way they were treated like experimental monkeys in a research lab.

They will wonder what it would have been like to spend a couple of weeks with grandma and grandpa or their aunts and uncles and cousins during summer holidays. Kicking back and enjoying life wasn't part of Kate's grand plan for them. She doesn't give a shit about their feelings. She's doing this for Kate and Kate alone.

Did you have cameras filming you a the Jersey Shore? Didn't think so.

This is not a vacation this is work. There's nothing wrong with going on vacations. Without cameras! But why three vacations back to back and all of them filmed??? That sounds like work to me, not a vacation. That's the problem with it, I don't have any bone to pick with a beautiful vacation in Alaska if they do so privately.

Hot In PA said...

"JET LAGGED? They didn't leave the country ahole..."

LOL!! Look up the meaning of jet lag! A criteria is not that you have to leave the country in order to experience it!!

I'm sorry you found a traditional family vacation boring. The best memories of my life when I was a kid were made at the Jersey Shore, when everyone was together, before anything happened to any one of us. As time goes by, and as we grow older, those pleasant memories become very important. It's sad if those experiences for you aren't among your fondest. Family vacations are what you make them.

If Kate wants to take her kids on vacations across the country or overseas, okay. But why do they always have to be filmed? Let them experience such a trip without it being staged. Let them enjoy the trip unscripted without the paps and TLC hovering over, giving directions on what to say and what to do. LET THEM BE KIDS!

To Sheesh said...

You don't have to leave the country to be jet lagged. They had to stay overnight in San Diego on the way to Hawaii for that very reason.

Why do we complain? Those kids are WORKING. They needed WORK PERMITS to go on vacation. It's not a vacation if you are WORKING. It's a JOB.

Lauren said...

Don't you know, Admin, the Zoo is where most of the paps hang in Alaska. Lol.

The Zoo!

Lame.

If I had traveled 8 hours I sure as hell wouldn't want to go to the ZOO.

What about touring the glaciers and going fishing in the wild or
activities that are Alaska-centric.

That leads me to believe that this trip was planned at the last minute, perhaps, to dodge some child labor law questions. Hmmm???

Did some lowly TLC intern not have the time to plan this trip??? Me thinks so.

Oh and someone did pay for my vacations as a kid, IT was my parents with their hard earned money, the way it should be.

Gosselin Gossip said...

The Gosselins have put their stamp on defining a "working vacation".

This is probably going to end up being a Kate Plus 8 special that segues to the premiere of Sarah Palin's show. It's TLC's perfect opportunity to rank in tv ratings having Kate Plus 8/Sarah Palin on the same night. (Although, there hasn't been much mentioned about Sarah Palin's reality show about Alaska. TLC paid a hefty sum to get her on their network.)

Does the PA tourism industry want to stay away from Kate Plus 8? Besides the Hershey factory, I didn't see the Gosselins going to any other interesting places in PA tourists might want to check out. I haven't gone to PA, but the only other interesting place I can think of is visiting the Liberty Bell/Independence Hall.

Isn't this a slap in the face to PA and its Department of Labor who is standing behind Kate in stating the work permits are legal? The state allows the kids to film, yet Kate takes them out-of-state to work. The opportunity to promote their tourism industry and bring additional money to the state is wasted. (Of course, then you could say that the state is earning money off the backs of these kids. It's a lose-lose situation.)

Sadie said...

Of course the kids aren't happy, they are working. You don't think for one minute that they don't realize that this is work. She forces them kids on a plane, get hair and makeup done before they leave their rooms, and do the scripted tour to the zoo and wherever else TLC and the interns rigged up. Kate Gosselin does nothing but sign the dotted line and gives TLC permission everytime to drag her family for filming. Thought that these were suppose to be a few specials with the kids, not year round filming. Them kids have to get up at the crack of dawn and smile for the cameras and well work..Nice

Absolutely. The problem with the Gs is that these kids have done more than many adults have in their lifetime. By the time they get to be adults, they will have gone everywhere and done everything. What's left? What will there be to look forward to? You start out with the small things, like the zoo, amusement parks, hiking in the Poconos, and then later you can appreciate the big things that you can remember and that will become very special.

When I was a kid, my mom and stepmonster took us on a roadtrip just about every other weekend. My memories of those trips are of many bouts of carsickness and being yelled at by the stepdude to hurry up. My FONDEST memories of my childhood summers? Spending time in our backyard with my hero, my grandfather, who could make the simplest things the most fun (for example, fishing in the pool with a "pole" that had a magnet for a hook and "fishing" for little metal thingies that looked like fish), our vacations with my cousin's family to the Jersey Shore (shout out to Jersey!) every year, and just being able to spend a summer's day with my best friends doing everything and nothing at all. God bless those kids and God help their mother gain a little common sense before it's too late.

Ah, those lazy, hazy days of summer. If we could only turn back the hands of time for just one day and live those times over again.

I think that's what bothers me so much...that these kids are never going to know what it's like to be kids. Their normal childhood has been stripped from them.

I'm sorry you didn't have a nice time on your visit to our great state! Most people are in awe and find plenty to do and see.

I too went on a lot of road trips with my parents. I didn't enjoy them because I was so young I couldn't appreciate all the great places we visited (all the Provinces in Canada, about 30 of the 50 states, Aruba etc...). My father traveled a lot for work and we used to drive everywhere. Ugh.

But when I got older I was able to appreciate the different places we visited. In fact, in my father's later years, we used to take trips together up to Maine, Alaska etc... I'm glad we were able to do our Father Daughter trips now that he's gone.

But when I was a young child I didn't like having to travel. It was boring for me. I just wanted to stay home and play with my toys.

Hello Sheesh.

Would you be so kind as to explain why so many of Kate's fans who visit here must resort to rudeness and name-calling? I suspect that most of those who admire her must be very much like her. And that is not a compliment. So just a word of advice. If you have something to say, people will take you more seriously if you say it in a respectful manner.

And now a word about jet lag. Please think of this as your learning moment for the day. You don't have to leave the country to suffer from jet lag. Jet lag is a physical condition that occurs when the body's natural rhythms are thrown out of synch by traveling rapidly through time zones (such as on a jet). The Gosselin family and their entourage traveled from the Eastern Time Zone, through the Central, Mountain and Pacific Time Zones to reach the Alaskan Time Zone. Common symptoms are fatigue, irritability, mild depression, headaches, insomnia, constipation or diarrhea. And those lucky, lucky children get to possibly experience that on top of having to work.

Have a nice day.

Well the answer is no, ATIA does not pay TV shows to come up here, and we didn't have anything to do with the Kate Gosslein thing.

OK, not a huge fan of Palin but it seems to me that she is the opposite of the almighty Kate.

The only thing I can see that they have in common is that neither chose to have an abortion.

However Sarah did it because she truly believed that her son had the right to live.

Kate could care less about her children and IMHO was only thinking about what they could do for HER.

In this case one appears to be selfless, another selfish.

As one who has been adamant about all the gossip blogs only helping Kate’s celebrity, I have to laugh at this coup by TLC. Sara and Kate, two of the most controversial women around, camping together. Instead of letting Kate fade into obscurity, you’ve all helped her to where she is today! Wonder if anyone will “get it” now? Somehow I doubt it.

TLC is happy, Kate’s happy, Sara is happy and all the internet gossipers will be delirious, cutting and pasting pics and links to their hearts delight.

She probably has no idea who Kate is but she will find out soon enough after spending time with her.

My summers in my Kindergarten-elementary school years were spent in competitive swimming practices 5-6 days a week and meets almost every weekend. I loved it. On occasion our family would drive to Canada to visit relatives I didn't know. We stopped at "places of interest". I hated it. I preferred spending my summer doing laps an hour a day, hanging out with the neighbor kids and doing church and Girl Scout activities. Seriously. A trip to a far-away state to see sights would not have appealed to me until I was an older teen or

Am I the only hoping that this TLC rigged Alaskan camping circus blows up in their ratings propelled faces? I rather doubt it will, and yes, here we go with what will probably be 3+ weeks of non-stop crapola - what a silly scripted boondoggle this is going to be. In one of the photos that have been posted I thought I saw KG smiling down at a child, so I went back to look - yep, she was smiling, but it was down at a child that was clearly not hers (blond hair). And that actually made me laugh, but sadly.

As for jet lag, not only did these kids move across time zones, but I am pretty sure you cannot go non-stop from Philly to Anchorage. If that is correct, add layover hours to that trip, which they will make in return in just a few days. I have had a summer of packing and unpacking myself, so I can only imagine what the little ones feel like.

There is no place like home, unless you happen to be a Gosselin child - last carefree summer day was probably hiking and swimming with Dad and his girlfriend. Nice that they all have to live Kate's poor deprived childhood with her, in spades.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Time will tell if she really is meeting up with Sarah Palin. I think more likely than not they will hype up a big TLC NORTHERN EXPOSURE NIGHT!!!! Starting with a big double episode of craptastic Kate Plus 8 where we watch poor little exhausted jetlagged kids dragged all around Alaska while tourists snap their pictures (and probably asking where are we again??), followed by the premiere of Sarah's show. And the ratings? Hopefully a huge tank.

And I think the Palins paid off Levi to say he didn't mean what he said about Palin. Much of what he said was just too bizarre to be made up, he's not that smart.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Whether you call it jetlag or just plain tired, these kids have been dragged on three huge filming working trips in their short summer.

I fly cross country at least twice a year sometimes three times. You are very tired. Going eastbound and losing several hours I've found seems to be a lot harder than going westbound and gaining hours. New York to London is an 8 hour flight and almost the same time difference as Alaska. Done that one a few times too--major jet lag. Maybe I am a wimp but everyone else around me looked like hell.

I grew up not too far from where they live, the climate was nearly identical. When you grow up in the Northeast, you have a precious two or three months of truly good weather where you can swim and run around in sandals, then the cold weather is back. I would not want to spend my summer away from home working in various other places. I moved to a much warmer client largely because I was so tired of all the cold weather.

I also agree completely the kids have nothing to look forward to. The kids are being spoiled. I am not saying they are ACTING spoiled I'm saying they are BEING spoiled--in other words it's the adults doing it and the adults who are in the wrong. Three birthday parties for the Tups? Absurd and ridiculous. It is not their fault all this excess, but it will affect them. I have nannied for some very spoiled kids who shrug off trips to Europe, cruises, ski trips as "boring" and "I don't wanna go!!" They've done it so much it's not fun anymore. Well I dont blame them, they know they will be stuck in a hotel room while Mommy and Daddy go to the benefit, and that Mommy and Daddy will be drinking with their rich friends while they go off with the nanny to do stuff. What a thrill. These parents think they are giving their kids everything when really they're not helping them learn how to appreciate a simpler more normal life. A life that realistically almost everyone must face at some point.

Is everyone here happy with their simple lives? I am. I wonder if there is anyone here who has experienced both being very wealthy and being just middle class. Which one was better?

The trip didn't take one dime from the kids? Who are you kidding? Without the kids TLC is not paying for anything. No kids, no trip. The trip is PAYMENT for doing all this hard work. And then they might get a measly 15% income in trust. If I were those kids, I would want my pay in cash money, not flights and trips.

In Touch can exclusively reveal that Kate and her brood have traveled to Alaska with cameras in tow to meet up with the northern state's most famous resident, Sarah Palin. "Sarah, Kate and the kids will go camping," a source says, adding that Sarah's father, a retired science teacher, and brother, a third-grade educator, will conduct a hands-on natural history lesson for 9-year-old twins Mady and Cara, and 6-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Joel, Collin, Leah, Hannah and Alexis. A mother of a big family herself, former vice presidential candidate Sarah is thrilled about the upcoming visit. "She's excited because it will be fun and educational for the children. You can be wealthy and not be an idiot. You can get wealthy without forcing your very small children to support your family.

Wealthy or middle-class, it's possible to make decisions that benefit your children, rather than destroying them. It's just not possible for the Gosselins to do this.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Lee that's sort of my point. Kate thinks having all this stuff will bring her happiness. Clearly she is an unhappy person the way she keeps reaching for more and more and bigger and better. I think you are either a happy person who happens to be rich or middle class, or you are an unhappy person who happens to be rich or middle class.

But getting rich in the hopes that will bring you happiness when you were never happy in the first place is a recipe for disaster. So many people have tried this and so many have failed.

I feel sorry for Kate in the sense that she honestly thinks this is the path to happiness. That is very very sad. I wonder if she'll ever be happy with her twisted view of the world.

I am sitting on the Sarah Palin story until I can confirm it. Right now TLC has said "no comment."

What I mean when I say the trip doesn't take money from the kids, is that they are paid (no matter how much or how little) AND they do the trips. It's not like the family paid for a vacation and the cameras are unwelcome. Someone else (TLC, Alaska tax breaks, and/or combination of both) has paid for the tickets, the accommodations, the food, etc.
Perhaps I am being too literal, but the posts about the trip taking money from their college accounts are a bit over the top, IMO.
And no matter who paid, I stand by my first comment that the little kids are too young to truly enjoy a trip like this, and posters who say they should get a relaxed camera-free summer by their own pool are right.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Browney I totally agree with you the kids are too young to appreciate all this.

The question remains after all this hard work why are their college funds still not filled up??? I guess my point is they shouldn't be doing a darn thing until the college funds are paid in full.

The kids don't get paid, unless you count the 15% they made.

15% of my paycheck is, well, enough for a few trips to the grocery store. How about anyone else?

As I see it said...

OK, let me play Devil's Advocate: How do we know the college funds aren't fully funded for them? I'm no fan, but unless I've missed something, we don't know that between any contributions to the TAP (?) fund, earnings and any other funding (family money donated to each grandchild, as an example, or insurance policies in the kids' names from grandparents)that the funds don't equal four years at a public university. Also, that the funds, properly tended for the next 12 years wouldn't earn interest to fill in any gaps. Heck, TLC could've put money in an interest-bearing account for the kids and we wouldn't know.

Don't get me wrong, I still think this is a crappy thing to do to your kids, and no way to earn a living as a self-respecting adult, but we don't know all the financial details.

There are certain Gosselin rumors and certain Gosselin facts, and it's a FACT the children are not set financially. Kate sure isn't disputing it. She's still crying about it to this day.

Hi browneyed girl. The reality is that the Gosselin kids ARE, in fact, paying their own way. TLC may be making the arrangements and technically "paying" for the cost of these trips, but where do you think TLC is getting that money to do this? They have that money, in large part, from the revenue generated by the J&K (previously) and the K+8 (currently) shows and the cottage industry of DVD sales, etc. Any which way it is sliced and diced, the children are the ones working to pay for everything.

People who get in trouble on their taxes think income is only cash money. Couldn't be more wrong. Income is anything in exchange for WORK, put simply.

Would TLC give them this trip and not film it so it could just be a gift? Fat chance. This is PAYMENT.

Kate very well may have to have this whole trip itemized as INCOME on her next tax return.

So yes, about those college funds that are being pissed away in Alaska as we speak.

Carolina Gal said...

We know because Kate SAID SO! Boy do I love this blog for the record it's kept. We know they don't have full college funds because....KATE TOLD US SO. In an interview with Access Hollywood earlier this year she specifically said they don't have enough saved yet and that the goal of the show was to save for college
~~~~
Admin., this could well have been Kate yet again, lying hoping for some money to come poring in!
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
LOL, I had a feeling someone would say that.
What's worse, Kate not saving enough money for the kids, or Kate saving enough but LYING about it and saying she didn't?
Either way this woman is a real piece of work. Can't weasle her way out of this one, she said the wrong thing.
Those poor little children look so sad. Their mother looks so pissed at having to share the spotlight with them. Sad their father doesn't have the cojones to fight for custody. Jon has made a lot of poor choices in the past year but one thing remains constant - his love for his children. One other thing remains constant - Kate's contempt for them.
Stop, what about the printed fact that the tups were guaranteed a college education in PA when they were born?
I have to ask this...how can you tell from one photo, or series of photos, that this is the reason she looks "pissed?" I'm not trying to be argumentative, (not by a longshot) but I am curious as to what it is that would lead you to believe this. If she is "pissed," it could be for any number of reasons, but why would you conclude it's because she doesn't want to share the spotlight with the kids? Does a photograph really lead, without doubt, to this conclusion?
my9cats said...
Hard to Keep Loving Jon.....
Again, PA did NOT guarantee the tups a college education. All they did was open unfunded accounts in their names where people could make donations. That's all.
People should keep in mind that everywhere Kate and TLC go the junket is being paid by the hosting city/resort/state. They do this for the exposure and publicity in hopes they can draw in more tourists. So Kate literally has to just name the place she wants to see and TLC could easily contact them for sponsorship money. When Regis and Kelly came to PEI Canada it put the Island in the number 2 Google search spot, cost the dept of Tourism $2million, but they said it was much cheaper than buying ads on billboards. So know you are being manipulated to buy something everything time you watch.
Do you know for a fact that Alaska tourism funded this trip in exchange for publicity? A blogger e-mailed them and received a reply that the state DID NOT pay any money toward this trip, and in fact, had nothing to do with the Gosselins.
Absolutely correct. Our state is not funding a college education. There is an account open for donations, but there is no guarantee that an education is a sure thing. Additionally, the donated funds are available as long as the children attend a college in PA.
Now this is a desperate attempt by TLC to garner ratings for Kate's pitiful show. She and Sarah Palin meeting. I guess Kate is going to be the pig with lipstick that Palin always talks about. Perhaps they'll get in a pickup game of hockey together or Palin will show her how to field dress a moose.
Two of the most boring people on the planet meeting each other with their shrill voices. This will be a must not see television special. There goes another million viewers on the next Kaopectate plus 8 special. Keep it up TLC. By the end of the summer, you'll have just 8 viewers watching this hot mess
Gossip/Scoop Alert: This morning on KBEQ, a Kansas City radio station, they were interviewing Clay Walker, a country music star. He has announced that he's being considered for Celebrity Apprentice and gone through an interview process.
He commented about the Tiger Woods chick, Rachel, having been under consideration and then the radio show hosts asked him if the CA people had told him any of the other people under consideration for the show. His reply? "Um... what's her name, Kate Gosselin."
She was the only one he named...apparently there is some truth to the rumor.
Anonymous said...
The only truth is that TLC and Trump have agreed to talk to the media about Kate being *considered* for CA. It does not mean she is *actually* being considered for the show. Otherwise, why would he mention only ONE of the possible candidates? he didn't know of one other candidate? Seriously? Not a one? Seems like a blatant plug of KG to me.
Remember all the crap about Kate's talk show FEATURING Paula Dean? It went so far over the top Paula was forced to release a statement that it was HER talk show, not Kate's.
Until Kate shows up on the first episode, I don't believe it for one second. It's not scripted, people have to interact directly off the cuff with each and THINK and COMPROMISE and WORK. Kate would never in a million years be able to function.
Admin, I do understand your point about trips being taxable income for the Gosselins.
However, let's look at a different scenario. Let's take Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman in the movie Rain Man. (See how long since I've seen a movie?) They traveled literally across the US, and even filmed near my home. Travel to locations, hotel rooms, food, possibly use of car outside of filming, were required for the actors and crew. Did they have to pay income tax on all that in addition to their salaries?
Gayle King went on a trip across the US with Oprah, filming a double episode for Oprah's show. Would Gayle have to include the hotel,
food, etc. that Oprah/Harpo paid for as additional income? She was working on that trip even if it was fun.
I am NOT arguing with our Admin. It's just a question.
SG said...
fidosmommy,
Good question! It's as if the places and trips they go to are "the sets." I would think the "actors" are not responsible for the taxes on that. It's not as if they "own" them. Of course, what do I know? Just sounds reasonable. Now their actual house/home is different. Even if they use it as a set, they also use it as living space.
About the rumored camping trip of Sarah and Kate out in the wilderness.... This would make a great spoof with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Now that one I would watch.
IBM62 said...
Wow! So how many places have the Gosselins been during the course of filming their show?
I can recall: California (several times), Hawaii, Utah, North Carolina, Florida, New York and now, Alaska. Am I missing any?
CJ said...
There were at least three trips to Florida, two to NC (one of which was two weeks long) and don't forget the trip to DC in May 2009 (?) that was filmed, but never aired. This was around the time the divorce was announced.
Moose Mania said...
"Perhaps they'll get in a pickup game of hockey together or Palin will show her how to field dress a moose."
========
I would imagine that if Sarah said to Kate, "I'm going to show you how to field dress a moose," Kate's reply would be, "Oh, I didn't know you had Gymboree stores here." Maybe something at the Eddie Bauer store would be more appropriate field wear for a moose.
Kk said...
I believe the Kate-goes-to-Alaska thing is a CROSS-OVER show, ala TLC. Remember when Kate went to Kleinfeld's for her vow-renewal dress? Both TLC shows. Remember when Mama Dugger went to Kleinfeld's for HER vow renewal dress? Both TLC shows. (TLC is certainly low on original concept, by the above comparisons). Well, Crossover "Event" Boringaire: Kate and 8-and-a-Half.
Sarah Palin cited Alaska's proximity to Russia and her dealings with foreign trade delegations as showing her the importance of foreign policy.
and reiterated her view that this proximity enhanced her foreign policy credentials
Kate probably agrees with Palin on the above. So sad.
Silver haired babe said...
I am tired of readers saying that Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house. She NEVER said that! Tina Fey said it on SNL. Get your facts straight. How about reading her book? Very interesting. She knew in plenty of time that her child would have Down Syndrome but did not abort him and does not use him to support her. She probably has no idea who Kate is but she will find out soon enough after spending time with her.
Yes, Sarah Palin camping trip is probably all about digging Kate out of her ratings slump.
Proof to me that Kate cannot carry anything herself. (literally and figuratively)
OK, not a huge fan of Palin but it seems to me that she is the opposite of the almighty Kate.
The only thing I can see that they have in common is that neither chose to have an abortion.
However Sarah did it because she truly believed that her son had the right to live.
Kate could care less about her children and IMHO was only thinking about what they could do for HER.
In this case one appears to be selfless, another selfish.
I think that's what bothers me so much...that these kids are never going to know what it's like to be kids. Their normal childhood has been stripped from them.
You don't have to leave the country to be jet lagged. They had to stay overnight in San Diego on the way to Hawaii for that very reason.
Why do we complain? Those kids are WORKING. They needed WORK PERMITS to go on vacation. It's not a vacation if you are WORKING. It's a JOB.
Hot In PA said...
"JET LAGGED? They didn't leave the country ahole..."
LOL!! Look up the meaning of jet lag! A criteria is not that you have to leave the country in order to experience it!!
I'm sorry you found a traditional family vacation boring. The best memories of my life when I was a kid were made at the Jersey Shore, when everyone was together, before anything happened to any one of us. As time goes by, and as we grow older, those pleasant memories become very important. It's sad if those experiences for you aren't among your fondest. Family vacations are what you make them.
If Kate wants to take her kids on vacations across the country or overseas, okay. But why do they always have to be filmed? Let them experience such a trip without it being staged. Let them enjoy the trip unscripted without the paps and TLC hovering over, giving directions on what to say and what to do. LET THEM BE KIDS!
Hot In PA said...
My kids love trips(the very few we go on)but heck, they are ready to be home within days of the trip.
Smiling here, Blessing. We've been very fortunate that we have been able to take very nice vacations and cruises and the kids love the trips. However, the best vacations for them have been doing all of the things you mentioned. I remember on one of our trips to Disney where we stayed at the GF, we cut the trip short by two days. When we checked out, the desk reservationist said, "You're going home EARLY???" The kids were tired (and hot) being dragged all over the theme parks and couldn't wait to get home because we got a new swing set, and the older ones were excited because some well-known NBA players were coming to town for a basketball "seminar!"
We could have saved mega-bucks if we had just stayed at home!
TLC stinks said...
The kids show no emotion in those photos. Surely they are jet lagged. But mama Kate doesn't care.
Here's what the show as come to: free vacations, dress kids alike, call the paps, get nannies to watch kids, and then have dinners with Steve.
kidsRablessing said...
lol,
ok rant almost over. In my opinion, vacations are nice, but tiring and I am grown. My kids love trips(the very few we go on)but heck, they are ready to be home within days of the trip. They get tired fast and start missing their home. Fortunately, I live in Florida and there is lots to do in this state, but you can only go on so many trips and then it is not really fun anymore. We really have not been able to afford a good vacation this summer, but my kids have had a blast at summer camp, beach and lake daytrips, soccer tounaments, plastic pool and homemade sandbox in the yard, free Vacation Bible school, playdates at the park, storytime at the library. Do you think these simple summer fun things ring a bell to Kate??
