A Twist of Kate

TLC has announced the title and concept of their new show for Kate. They've struggled for more than six months to come up with something for her, and here it is:

A Twist of Kate: The new series will follow Gosselin as she travels the country to meet families with challenges at work or at home and attempt to “walk a mile in their shoes,” according to a TLC statement. The show will also give Gosselin a chance to “roll up her sleeves and see what she can do to help.”

Meanwhile, check out Tony's tweets, which reveal he's in New York today. Is Kate with him? The tweets don't lie!

I read somewhere that Kate was in fact practicing her Tango with Tony in NY. I'm sure her presence there instead of at the Konpound is due to the media release regarding her new shows.

"to meet families with challenges at work or at home"

I have a great suggestion. There's a family in PA that is having some real challenges. There are 8 children, a set of twins and a set of sextuplets, who are having difficulty in dealing with a mother who is never home because she is seeking fame and fortune. They are being raised by a constantly changing staff of nannies and baby-sitters and unfortunately, rarely get to see any extended family....and have never been seen with friends their own age.

Very sad. And challenging. Maybe Kate could visit them so she could "walk a mile in their shoes" and offer her assistance.

Hello, I have been a lurker for awhile, I do enjoy your blog, and wanted to comment. Tony always comments on their practice, so far nothing. That is unusual. One description I read about the new show, is she is visiting women who were inspired by her. The mentality who would be inspired by her scares me. I also have read reviews from advanced copies of her book, and it is being panned for exposing each child's suffering through this divorce. From some of the excerpts I have read, it is disgraceful for this woman to sell this pain of her children. She and her rabid fans don't get it, the kids need time to heal, she has been traveling around since before the divorce was final. My heart really hurts for those kids. After all the money they have made there is no reason that they are not set for life.

If Kate stays gone, can she keep from being served the papers? :)

Hi Lolly,

Glad to meet you. Here is one thing about Kate that I think, all of us, will agree to: there is not enough money in the world to satisfy Kate. I really think she has some very serious issues with her own self worth. I think, she has a giant hole in her soul that cannot be filled with money or fame. Maybe, she really needs to go back to church and listen this time.

Hey Lolly!

I think Kate needs to stop striving for everything on a "golden platter". That's not what her kids need. They need their mother home with them.

Kate can actually afford to spend more time with her kids but she just seems to be striving to attain more money to support them and for their future (her words) etc.

I understand that her "celebrity" may not last forever and I think it's great she's thinking ahead and trying to get what she can now to support her family... but if she just simplified their lives a little her money would go a long way and her kids would have their mom around more. I would rather live with my kids in a hut than be away working so they can live in a large house. I waited until I amassed a fortune to have my kids so I could stay home with them. lol. Okay, not a fortune but my goal was to be a SAHM and that's what I planned for.

I know circumstances change, and they have for Kate, but I still believe she can be home with her kids more and still give them a great life. They don't need to see her on tv. They need to see her in their bedroom tucking them in bed each night (that she has custody). IMO.

Lolly said...

Hi Diane, Thanks! Nice to meet you too. I agree, she does seem to have some very serious issues. Her words and actions do not match at all, which is not surprising. She cried that she can't show emotion, yet went on national tv to cry about how broke she was, and cry about how hard life is for her. This whole family is so in need of therapy. I really fear for those children.

Lolly said...

Wow my whole post disappeared! Hi Diane nice meeting you too. I agree with you, Kate does appear to have so many serious issues. Her actions do not match her words at all, which are not surprising.

SchmeckyGirl YES, I agree with you as well. Kate has ample money to take some time off to nurture those kids. She has been filming this new show, making guest appearances and DWTS. All the while the kids are going through this divorce. My kids had a terrible time after my divorce. I actually took a leave from my job to help them through it. And believe me, I am no way rich. I just don't understand why people aren't using their common sense regarding the children.

So Kart's show Kate plus 8 will begin airing in June with one hr specials and then Twisted Kart @ the end of the summer. Very disappointed thatthe kids are being filmed again. Kart was caught in another lie yesterday. Anthony List stated yesterday that none of the children have ever received any professinal help. That really pisses me off. Kart told People magazine in Jan tht the were starting "in-home" therapy the following week. Her statement was in response to reports that the kids had been acting out. I am hopeful that because Jon's attorney made this comment that it may indicate that Jon has tried to arrange counseling and that Kart has nixed it. Hopefully, it will now become court mandated.
Kate is really rolling in the dough! She got 1 million from her Christian publisher, Zondervan, as an advance on her shameful letters book. List made clear that TLC pays Kart $100,000 each month while it pays Jon $5000/month. Jon pays her $21,000 each month and is current in all payments. DWTS $200,000 or more. She can no longer play the sympathy card, intimating that SHE alone supports the kids. In one of the tabs it shows the picture of Jon taking Alexis to the Dr.on Sunday--she had Strep Throat and told Jon that she had been sick for days but that Kart had told her that it was just a bad cold. I can't stand her.

Well, she shouldn't be hard to find. She's a STAR. And there will be a man in a blue shirt following 10 ft. behind.

Lolly said...

I just watched the youtube video with Kate and Tony rehearsing. She said the biggest problem is she just can't give up 6 hours to practice??!! Then why on earth agree to do this then? Unreal. Now, she will have that excuse for her terrible performances. LOL

theotheranonymous said...

IATK - Steve always looks like he should be wearing a leash.

SG - I have to disagree. Her being around them is not best for the children. She's not mother material and there are hours and hours of evidence on video to back that up. She liked having babies and the attention they brought her. After that she handed them over to others to be cared for and looked after.

Hi its about,

What a joke Kate has become. Yes, she should be easy to find....just look for all the paps and you'll find her, stepping on people to get in the shot! :)

Hi Diane,
Seriously, in answer to your question, I don't know if they will track Kate down to serve her or use Fed Ex or US Postal mailed to the home. When my son was going through his divorce it seems like he was served court papers by registered mail, but that's been awhile and memory is fuzzy.

Why does Kate's lawyer feel the "timing" is so important!??! Of course he's going to bring it up now that she's on DWTS... that's the reason she's not with the kids enough! The show is in CA and she has to practice dancing. He wants to spend that time with the children and she said No. So he takes her to court. Makes sense if you put the two together.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I don't even know what they mean by the timing being suspect. When would be a good time to file for custody of your children? I say, as soon as possible. The timing will never be right for Kate's team. They will find some reason to say the timing is off. They will say it's suspect timing because of DWTS. Next month they can say it's suspect because of her book. The month after that, it will be Kate Plus 8. Then it's bad because of A Twist of Kate. Whhhatever, complaining about the timing is a classic statement attorneys make when they have NO GOOD ARGUMENTS to refute what they are saying.

Notice no one on Team Kate has said Jon is lying about child support, or the custody arrangement, or any other statement he has made. They just made some vague statement about it being incoherent and bad timing. They got nothin'!

Anonymous said...

I also agree that although I know that children always love their parents, they may be better off when she's elsewhere. And to be honest, I'm fine with her trying to make as much money as she can, as long as the children are not being filmed.

I have no problem with her trying to make money...as much of it as she wants. The problem I have is that she expects sympathy for her financial situation. She has far more money than most mothers with young children...which is fine. I'm sure Angelina Jolie has far more money than most mothers with young children too. The difference is...she doesn't expect us to feel sorry for her. She doesn't try to convince us that she's a mom just like us. That she's a single mom just like other single moms....so she can totally relate to all single moms out there.

Most other single moms don't have anything close to the money Kate has. Most single moms can't afford private schools, manicures and pedicures, a huge house on huge acreage, bodyguards and nannies. Most single moms don't get over 20 grand a month in child support. In fact, many single moms don't even have an ex-husband that participates in the care of the children.

If she wants to be famous and make lots of money...that's fine with me. But don't expect me to feel sorry for you, Kate. Don't expect me to relate to you as a mother. Sorry Kate...you're nothing like me.

Twisted Kate said if she went back to nursing, she'd be spending the same amount of time away from her kids. No it wouldn't, unless her shifts were in an LA hospital and the kids were in Reading . Then again, going back to nursing would just turn her back into an "everyday person" and that will not do for Kate.

Meanwhile, Kate's attorney Mark Momijan countered to Radaronline: "It's obvious that [Jon] seems to time his issues regarding the kids to when Kate is doing well...Now that Kate is on Dancing With The Stars and pulling in 20 million viewers he decides to try to amend the custody. Is that a coincidence?"

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/tvblog/2010/04/kate-gosselin-to-help-challeng.html

Kate Gosselin to help "challenged" families on TLC. Seriously.

TLC announced Thursday it has greenlit a series in which Kate Gosselin will give life-assistance to "real families in the middle of their own extraordinary challenges" after walking a mile in their shoes, another series in which Nic Cage will give financial advice to real families in the middle of their own extraordinary challenges after walking a mile with their credit cards, and a third series in which Angelina Jolie will give relationship advice to real couples in the middle of their own extraordinary challenges after walking a mile in the wife's shoes with the husband in tow.

Okay, I made those last two up. But "Twist of Kate" is for real. America's Most Put Upon Mom is returning to the Silver Spring, Md. cable network that first foisted the mother of eight on an unsuspecting public in the spring of 2007 with "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

Her new primetime series will see her travel around the country, to find out how other people juggle work, family "and all the other challenges life throws at them," the network announced Thursday as part of its new-schedule presentations to advertisers in New York City.

In each episode, Kate will walk a mile in someone else's shoes - try out their jobs, see how their home life runs, find out what they do to let off steam, and "roll up her sleeves and see what she can do to help," the network said.
With a straight face.

Our money's on Kate finding a way to make it all about her, and won't it be fun to see how she winds the story around to her very very difficult life each episode, like she is doing so brilliantly right now on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" as she paso dobles to the Lady Gaga tune "Paparazzi," and dances the jive to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing." I see a very promising "Twist of Kate" drinking game in our future. You'll just have time to stock the home bar -- "Twist/Kate" is debuting this summer.

Speaking of "Dancing with the Stars," Jon Gosselin and his new attorney must be clapping their little hands in glee today over the unveiling of "Twist of Kate." Jon this week sued Kate for prmary custody of their eight children, claiming she's an absentee mom because she's in L.A. every week, appearing on "Dancing." For her new show, sounds like she'll be on the road a lot.

Meanwhile, you haven't seen the last of Kate's 8 - just her husband, god willing -- on TLC. "Kate Plus 8" is being billed as "limited specials" that will be "following the lively brood on some fun adventures." Did the gravity of of the children's situation not forbid it, we have thought of at least three priceless cracks we could make here.

-----------------------------------------------

How on earth will they fit all this into an episode??? She is going to totally understand a families whole lifestyle and then "fix" the problem areas????????? IF she had some back ground in mental health/psychology or SOMETHING, I would say this is still impossible, and impossible to show in one episode....but its Kate. Her idea of "helping" someone struggling will be to say "I totally understand how you feel...when we were struggling...when my husband didn't have a job...when we...."
Conspiracy Theory here for you...
I think this is BS and somehow a reaction from TLC to Jon's filings. Don't know why, but until they come out and say that they have x number of episodes in the can and actually start releasing commercials for it, I don't believe this! I think it will be like the "all Kate show" that was supposed to premire on TLC in March....

Yahoo washington post! The angry moments...Oh, I love that one, too. Twist of Kate, I hope is so successful with Kate's sheeple, help keep her gone on a regular basis for a long, long time.

Hi Deborah,

Atty. List may have appeared a fool yesterday, but, he did get out some very useful information that team Kate doesn't want sheeple to know. How much money Kate is making while she cries poor. How much she is away. How little she actually does the everyday caring for her children. How the kids are not in therapy, in spite of Kate saying they were going to start. How she lies. How Kate does not do what is best for kids. How Kate keeps their Father from them.

SG said...

Deborah,

Hi! Unfortunately I wasn't able to see Jon's new lawyer yet. I heard he was actually chewing gum! Ugh.

SG said...

I don't understand the premise of Twist of Kate. Kate is going to go help fans with their problems? Based on what?

It can't be family problems because Kate has so many issues when it comes to family, both immediate and extended.

It can't be organizational issues because Kate had to have a professional come in and organize her home.

It can't be "single mom" issues unless Kate is planning on lending them her laundering service, craft services and nannies and major child support. That's the only reason Kate is able to "balance" her "celebrity" life and "motherhood".

Well SG I guess you'll just have to watch like the rest of us to see what it is all about.

No one really knows what her realtionship is with her family. Unless of course you know her personally. I know she is close with one of her sisters.

I guess all of you must have the perfect families. I know I don't. There are some family members I prefer not to associate with.

If I had a brother like Kevin I don't think I would associate with him either. You don't betray your family and expect them to welcome you with open arms.

Kate has no compassion for anyone other than herself. She doesn't even like her fans. What another sham of a show TLC is lining up for her.

When Jon ever does write the book, the question I would want answered is How did ABC get them to do that phony wedding ceramony and also does anyone remember the tape of when they were in the airportsupposedly on their way to Korea,Kate, of course wanting to have another free trip started berating Jon in front of the kids,I can remember Mady looking at them with the saddest eyes,Jon called the trip off and Kate then told the kids"look what daddy has done",does anyone remember that?maybe someone with skills better then I could look it up and play it.

The other night on Joy Baher's show, Kate said that if she went back to nursing, she would have to work 12 hr. shifts and still wouldn't see the kids any more than on her jaunts across America as she is currently doing.
However, I was thinking, they ALL go to school now. Perhaps she could land a 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift at the hospital. Her nannies could get the kids going in the morning and fill in for any other time, such as when the little ones come home from kindergarten. She could be home to prepare an all-organic dinner for them, bathe them, get their clothes ready for school the next day, and tuck them in at night. The rest of the support can come from Jon, who has been contributing.
Oh, wait a minute...Kate working hours that would help her spend time each day with her kids? What was I thinking?
