Of course, we all have. I don't think anyone is saying they don't. I do not DELIBERATELY make distractions for myself, however. There are enough distractions that we have no control over. I never fiddle with my radio while driving. Map directions? If I need to look, I pull over. Takes a few, but it is much safer. I have NEVER had an accident and I am 64 years old, been driving since I was 16. So that says something, I suppose. Taping something to the steering wheel, to read off of/coach the kids, is just not a safe thing to do, regardless who you are. That is an avoidable distraction. Not the worst thing she has done. I would say parking in fire lane is by far THE worst.

As I read her tweets this morning, it was apparent that someone told her to STFU and "act" like she was interested in her fans.
I would have agreed that it was not Kate until I came to the "bitterly" missing patient care. No one but Kate could come up with that.
A dear friend of mine, a sun worshiper, has just been diagnosed with melanoma. I have been reading more on this and I did think about Kate with her constant use of the tanning bed. I assumed all along she was getting a spray tan. But she said she discovered while on DWTS, she was allergic. So that means all this time, she has been using the tanning bed.
I must say, with her being an RN, she should certainly know the dangers of too much exposure to the sun and/or tanning beds. I remember one episode long ago, she was burnt to a crisp on Jon's birthday trip, because she overexposed and used no sun tan screen. She said she always did that, at the beginning of summer. I wonder if she does use the screen now. No wonder she is looking older now with the overexposure. Is the 'Hollywood' look really worth the dangers?
It is surprising too, with her health food kick and only organic that she would take this risk. I wish she would stop this dangerous habit and/or is really now protecting herself. She was so much prettier in the 'olden' days of the show.
Well Kate's a-twitter this morning that her summer will be filmed with "some filming trips I'm sure."
I'm sure? So no firm plans yet from TLC? Since there is so much involved with production with each trip--permits, permission to film in various places, etc, shouldn't they pretty much have a good idea what they will be filming by now? How low does she think the ratings have to go before TLC says no more trips? .8 wasn't enough? I think she is being STRUNG ALONG.

I.e., at a stoplight, etc. I still think that. However I think the problem I have, as do I think others, is that there are lots of distractions we have while driving we can do nothing about--we have to read signs, we have to glance at directions, we have to talk to the kids, and so on. But we certainly do not have to add anything to it by taping something to the steering wheel. This is a distraction that is not necessary, while the others usually are. Adding any distractions that are unnecessary to the already long list of distractions while driving is downright reckless. Someone said the ride to the busstop is only a few minutes anyway, last minute reviews could be done easily over breakfast, or once you get to the bus stop and are waiting for the bus. There's just no reason for this.
I think when it comes down to it, Kate needs to realize her eight children are watching her make choices like this. And she needs to ask herself, when they turn 16, is she okay with them taping something to the steering wheel to read at stop lights? I'm guessing the answer from any good mother would be NO. Then if it's not okay with her for her kids to do it, she shouldn't be modeling it.
It wouldn't be the first bad decision she is modeling for the kids. Let's start with how to treat your spouse and the father of your children.

We didn't see Kate traveling across country last year like the article stated - nor her Twist of Kate project. I'm wondering if that was due to something Jon had stopped.

I'm thinking/speculating/wondering if once school is out, Kate (with her impressive non-distracted driving *cough*) is planning on road-tripping it across the states with the little ones in tow so that they can do the big "Gosselin Give Back" a-la Extreme Home Makeover.
It makes sense, all her talk about driving, all her talk about giving back being addictive, etc. It also would mesh with her Twist of Kate idea that isn't panning out because no one wants to see this woman on her own show w/o the kids.
I don't think we've seen the end of Kate on the TV for a long long time.

Admin, I saw that, too, and came to the same conclusion. I think the ratings for the May 2 show are about as important as any she's ever had. If the ratings show this past week was a fluke she may squeak by this summer. If they stay down, then uh,oh.

I assumed the same about Kate about spray tanning also & this whole allergic thing is BS if you ask me. She probably enjoys the warmth, the time away from her kids. You sit in a tanning booth for a good half hour (?) or so a few times a week? My friend owns a tanning salon & says a spray tan can last up to a couple or few weeks. When I have a wedding to go to, I'll get a spray tan done & I'm satisfied.

She probably skipped the suntan lotion, burned on purpose & made it miserable for him because it was suppose to HIS special trip. (am I right here?) She is such a heartless d-bag. I saw a woman in the grocery store a awhile back, & she was literally brown, her skin was saggy, & she was freckled like there was no tomorrow. It was awful. You only get ONE skin. There is no surgery to get a new one. Kate keeps this up, she will look like that woman, old & brown & leathery...she's already orange. It is NOT attractive. And the dangers are severe. People think it won't happen to them, but the chances are higher & higher the more you sunburned as a kid, & the more you keep tanning.

I don't think it was deliberate, although after she burned, she milked it.

I agree, admin. She's been driving for quite some time, and is not an inexperienced driver. She should be able to handle this without putting her life (and others) in danger. That said, she's a lousy role model for her kids. Nothing should be taped to a steering wheel. I'm not sure of Kate's reasoning for doing this, let alone taking a photo of it. That was incredibly stupid - why would you publicize this for the internet community? That alone was a bad choice, and for what reason? To show that she's a good mom who helps with homework? Why must she prove this to anyone, let alone her teenage tweetie buddies?
The twins won't be driving for several years, but now is the time to be a good example. I just read a local news report that a 17-year-old girl was killed on the day that she got her license - she was speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and flipped her car over an embankment. There are reports of Kate speeding and tickets being issued. I just hope that she doesn't do this when the kids are in the car - it's bad enough when she's driving solo and putting other drivers at risk.

This is how sick this woman is, even if a severe sunburn will give her the chills, vomiting, fever, painful--if it brings the focus back on her she's doing it.
Remember she also got "sick" on the ski trip, but still found time to go to the spa? Playing sick was twofold--it got her out of dragging herself out to the cold to enjoy her own children having fun skiing, and it got sympathy. Poor Kate who is home sick on vacation how sad, what can we do to help you?

We all must ignore Kate G. for this to go away. I am convinced any attention, good or bad, keeps her on the air. When the viewership dries up, the advertisers go away, and bingo, it's over. I remember asking Dr. Lillian Glass about this a while back and in a nutshell this is what she described.
Many people were fooled at first, but nothing lasts forever. It might take longer than we want it to take, but this show will end. TLC will not keep putting money in a failing program. Kate is not popular or interesting. She is a beggar of the worst degree. Who cares about her free trips, holidays, etc? Most of us have to budget for a trip and spend extra money of our own on holiday entertainment. Who do you think furnishes the "Easter eggs" for this filming? Why, TLC, of course. Yes, I've driven distracted. A few years ago, I was talking to my son about his school work while I was driving and I didn't see that a railroad crossing sign was flashing or that the barriers were dropping down on top of us. I didn't see them until I heard the train horn blair out at me and we barely crossed under the barrier before the train passed by. I was certain that the crossing was faulty because I didn't see it. It wasn't faulty. I was too distracted to notice.
I was a very experienced driver who has never caused an accident and who has the best rating possible from the insurance company. I had one other passenger, a teenager. The radio wasn't on. I was focused on the traffic in front of me and the conversation beside me. It made me a believer in reducing as much distraction to the driver as possible because I almost killed myself and my son.
I have no control over billboards or external distractions but I do have control over what happends inside the car when I'm at the wheel. I'm not trying to be preachy but I know I wouldn't have thought twice before this happened about studying spelling words but now I'm much more aware.

As I read her tweets this morning, it was apparent that someone told her to STFU and "act" like she was interested in her fans.
I would have agreed that it was not Kate until I came to the "bitterly" missing patient care. No one but Kate could come up with that.

Are these definitions the ones the twins were given by a teacher to memorize? Or did the twins combine their homework and decide on a definition for each word? Or did Kate write the meanings of the words, essentially doing part of their homework for them?
Oh, so many questions, too little interest! I am just gobsmacked that Kate thinks the driver's seat of a car is a good place for this.

You know I suspect a lot of us here, certainly myself, don't really have jealous personalities. Some people don't. Some people do and that doesn't make you a bad person. But some people just don't really GET jealous all that often.
Hubby/boyfriend/whatever is talking to a pretty woman, we're not one to flip a gasket. Co-worker gets a big promotion, happy for them and help throw a party, we don't sulk and wish it were us.
What's funny is for people who always claim we need to put ourselves in Kate's shoes, I think the reality is they cannot put themselves in OTHER'S shoes, they cannot look at the world from another viewpoint and understand how someone wouldn't be jealous of Kate. Since THEY are jealous, we MUST be. When really, if we were going to be jealous in the first place, it certainly wouldn't be of Kate.
And yes, it sure makes a heck of a lot more sense to be jealous of Angelina as oppossed to Kate. Kate is NOT that special!
I'm not a fan of any reality tv, but I've heard that Bethany is a chef and also a nice person. She is also apparently smart.

They are under the impression that only a few people don't like Kate and they have multiple browsers open. They claim multiple browsers will ruin a computer.

I agree. They are defending someone who doesn't give a CRAP about them. It's ridiculous to watch. They are so proud when an account gets suspended. It takes about 4 seconds to open a new one.
Rural roads are not safer because they are rural! People speed down long stretches, they dont see a stop sign after a long stretch, animals, bicycles, etc The three friends of mine who have been in a serious accident--all three on a rural road, two within a few hundred yards of each other.
We all are distracted when driving.
I decided to install a dvd player in the front seat so I can glance at my shows while driving down rural roads.
I also put on makeup, text and study for finals while driving. I've only been in 14 accidents and only 1 person was hurt sevarely. What's the big deal? EVERYBODY DOES IT so it's just FINE!
I just want you to know - how horrific it is about the discussions on other blogs - calling out the "haters" as it were. Well, you know what sheeple - too bad. How can any mother in this world support Kate and Jon Gosselin and what they have done to their children to grift the almighty dollar? Yes, IMO both Jon and Kate made this decision together before their divorce. Kudos to Jon for deciding that filming for his children is detrimental. I am holding out hope that with the low ratings that Kate will be told Bye Bye by TLC.
