Kate picks up dry cleaning and goes to consignment shop

While the kids were at their first day of school, Kate was running errands. Nothing wrong with giving clothes to consignment. That's what normal middle class families do. It's something Kate should get used to doing if TLC is gearing up to bail on her and the money train comes to a screeching halt.

But Admin, doesn't consignment imply that she'll get a cut of the profits when they're sold? I have money now, but even when I was middle class and below, we GAVE our gently used clothes to places that GAVE them to peole who needed them. Now I buy carloads to donate so kids can have something new for a change, as well as donating our very nice clothes. And those clothes were likely donated to her too, no less. WHEN she's middle class and buying the kids clothes herself (and they aren't working to buy their own), I'll agree that maybe consignment is a good option. But now..........to quote Kate.........not so much. I say it respectfully of course.........unlike Kate.

Lolly said...

A consignment shop??? I am STILL tripping over this one. Had they NOT recieved so much by big hearted church people, and people who gave to help them. I wouldn't be so..well... shocked. As if this greedy woman needs the few bucks she will get from those clothes. This is unbelievable. Does she ever give back, well I don't even count the few times they FILMED her "giving" a motorbike that SHE got for FREE, or "giving" signed copies of HER books to kids in the hospital. And toys that I am sure were bought by TLC. This really shows what type of mind and morals (or lack of) this woman has.

Simply put, she sucks.

Selling clothes she did not pay for? That's so Kate. Why not be the "true Christian" she proclaims to be and donate the clothes to Goodwill or a local shelter? This is tacky and low-class.

As shown by her own words and actions, I can not imagine Kate Gosselin doing anything for anyone that does not pay off for this greedy, self-centered, self-absorbed, selfish, ignorant she devil.

She's a pig. Heaven forbid she gives something away for free.

Kate will always be Kate. And that's not saying much.

Michelle said...

We're middle class and give our used clothes to charity. Although it's now confirmed why she's such a freak about the kids staying clean. Better resale value. I'd rather my kids have a blast and wear their clothes out.

PR wise, IMO it just doesn't look good to follow up the $250,000 per episode revelation, a week in an $8,000 rental on an exclusive island and a limo trip to NYC with Stevo with selling clothes that were most likely free. Is she losing TLC's PR protection?

Sharon here: What could be so damn important that she has to have that cell phone attached to her hand in so many photographs? Oh, that's right- SHE'S so important. I loathe this woman and her entire brand. I loathe the people of Entertainment Tonight/Inside Edition/Extra who keep feeding into her. I hope the new sextuplet families phase her out soon! (cuz ya know this multiple kid reality crap isn't going away any time soon!

I'm barely making it and gave away huge amounts of nice clothes last December. I give money to people I see on the street (always have) and yesterday gave a ride and bought lunch for a young woman who could barely walk. Also picked up the tab at McDonald's a couple of weeks ago for a woman and two children in the car in front of me when it became apparent they didn't have enough money for the meal. Decent people are like that. Kate Gosselin is the antithesis of decent.

Sally said...

Why is this news? We are feeding the monster by having Chris take pictures of her every move, and then commenting. Admin. It may be better if we just ignored Kate's daily activities and moved on. Then she will move on.

MickeyMcKean said...

This is NOT the first time Kate has been busted coming out of a consignment shop.

But like Michelle said, it is on the heels of knowing that Kate makes $250,000 per episode, a family vacation in NC for $8,000+ and riding in limos to go to Dunkin Donuts with a bodyguard.

Her PR team is going to have a hard time spinning this especially since the rumors of her and Steve being a couple. I'm serious - when the viewers label her as a "homewrecker" who does not give back to charity ... well her days are numbered.

I wonder if she ever entertained the idea of giving those clothes to her nieces or nephews?
Or maybe some of her clothes to her sisters?

As much as I think that this website is right on target, I must stop visiting it. I want that woman out of the limelight more than anybody, but I am beginning to think that it adds to her life. Now I hear that she is going to do some reporting for ET for the Emmys. WHAT????? It doesn't matter. So my thinking is that we just ignore her, no more comments-I think she reads them all and tweaks what she will do next. Thank you for exposing this piece of low class, uneduated *^%#@%*. I just do not think it will make a bit of difference. Even if you catch her with the boobyguard-they will make it into a feel good story.Thank you for all your hard work.Good bye.

IF she were smart, she'd give the clothes to Goodwill and take the tax deduction.

IF she were charitable, she'd just give the clothes to Goodwill.

Anonymous said...

She had better have plenty of ID on her when she attempts to interview the "stars" at the Emmys. I doubt many of them will recognize her.

I share the astonishment of the comments above. Selling the children's clothes that she probably didn't have to pay for in the first place - words fail me.

I make $1300 a month from my disability plan. A small pitance, and 1/4 of what I used to make each month.

Each month or two, I GIVE my used clothes and household items to American Veterans ( they resell them ). I had a garage sale 3 months ago and ended up giving most things away because I felt bad taking people's money.

Each month I give to the local no-kill animal shelter.

I sponsor a child from Compassion International.

About a month ago, there was an article in the paper about a local realtor who was hit by a car and paralyzed, and his friends and family were asking for donations for his rehab. I sent him $50. The VERY next day, an old customer of mine lost everything she owned in a house fire and she has zero insurance. I sent her $50, as well. After giving to these two folks in need, I was down to $30 and I had another week before getting paid again.

And an amazing thing that only happens to Kate Gosselin happened the very day I mailed the second donation. Underneath my pile of mail was a check from the hospital ( I was in the hospital over a year ago ). It was a refund for $100...the exact amount I had just donated.

But you know what I did? I donated that, too! School just started, and I heard of a family who couldn't afford school supplies for their kids. I couldn't stand it. I had to help.

This is much of the reason I can't stand Kate Gosselin. I do what I do and do not want recognition. I am not rich. I do not have my health, but I give from my heart. Kate is wealthy, has her health, and it would behoove her to give from her heart. She knows not what the words charity and kindness mean.

She gets everything handed to her on a silver platter and has such an ugly spirit and soul. She can yell at her kids on national tv and then be offered a cozy job interviewing at the Emmy's. She can treat the father of her children like scum, and then be given luxurious vacations.

She can be given free shoes for her eight kids, and can't even return the generosity by donating their used clothes...she wants to be comped.

I truly think if she sat in my shoes for one day, her life would change. She would be ashamed of herself for how she's been conducting her life. She would grow a heart and learn to think of others for a change.

I'm neither rich nor poor, but have always donated clothes, household goods, whatever. It is inconceivable to expect money for used goods, no matter how pristine. It is especially crass and classless if they were free to begin with. In the beginning KON stated they would donate in turn what was given to them--the strollers, table etc. Instead, they sold them.
Karma baby karma.....

Goodwill, at least in our area, SELLS the clothing at their local stores. I would imagine her reasoning to be why let Goodwill profit when she could be getting the money? So much better to donate the items to one of our local social services clothing banks, where needy families can get the clothing for free. That's what I do. In addition, it's a tax write-off. I guess she's unable to take the tax deduction because if these items were a boy's size 3, then chances are this was part of the assemblage of freebies collected from Gymboree before the store pulled the plug on letting her pick out whatever she wanted. She never paid for them, so I'm not sure how that works with the IRS.

There are also local consignment shops that will, upon direction of the donor, put the items in a back room and if needy families are unable to pay for all of the items they need, they select many items for free that are thrown in with their small purchases. I've also done this in the past...told the consignment shop owner to just give the items away when they see families who otherwise would not be able to afford them.

I read several years ago that one of the reasons Kate would have a fit if the kids got dirty is because she would get free clothes and then take them to a consignment shop and get cash eventually.

AuntieAnn said...

The owner of the shop must do cartwheels when Kate brings clothes in on consignment. You can bet she tells that person to make sure to tag all those items as previously worn by the Gosselin Eight. There has to be people jumping on the opportunity to own or ebay that stuff. The one (and only) thing Kate is good at is making money off her kids. Why stop at just making them work long hours of filming for their keep.

Bubbles said...

To me, this appears to be TLC Damage Control at work after all the harsh criticism of how she was dressed while out school shopping with the kids. Suddenly she's just "average mom" dropping off the kids wearing a ponytail and flip flops, and running errands just like any mom would.

Does anyone else think she has had further breast enhancement done? I think her chest looks even bigger than it did earlier this summer.

She's the first woman I've seen that claims to have lost weight but her boobs have grown even larger. Usually your boobs shrink.

You are right, Bubbles----Steve must have wanted them bigger because they are bigger.

We know the kids' clothes are free because we've seen photos of her picking up boxes and boxes of clothes at the UPS store for the kids to wear while filming (Kids Peace?) or whatever that clothing line is. It's all about product placement, and then she has the gall to act like a middle class mom and drop the clothes off at, of all places, a consignment shop instead of donating them. What a piece of work she is! She is a pro at squeezing every nickel she can out her kids.

Anonymous said...

I'm no tax expert, but wouldn't she have to declare this as income on her taxes? Does she have to claim the freebies as income in the first place?

Wouldn't it be simpler to just donate the stuff and take a tax deduction?

Or is this just another fuzzy area ($20 cash photos) that she is able to exploit yet again for personal gain? That is, she never declares the free stuff as income when she receives it nor the profits she makes when selling it.

Classic Kate. Receives freebies, yet expects a portion of the proceeds from the consignor's sale. As someone else mentioned, this is probably exactly why she's such a freak when it comes to the kids getting dirty. The more used the clothes look, the less she'll receive for them. And, BTW, wasn't this one of the things Jodi (or Julie -- can't remember which) called Kate out on? Funny how the truth is all coming out now, EXACTLY as Jodi described it.

I think the photos of Kate's trip to the dry cleaner and consignment store are damage control.

I can't remember the last time I saw Kate going to the dry cleaner and I have NEVER seen Kate go to a consignment store.

I have a friend who lives on disability also, in abject poverty, and all she can think of is how to help others, which she does, day and night, every day, whether she is donating her limited resources or time or her brain power to work on one of her many projects that help people in our community. I heart her and admire her very much too. You will be rewarded for your kindness and generosity. I truly believe that. If not in $$$ (which you would just give away!), then in wonderful relationships, contentment, peace, etc. You are a blessing and I hope you are blessed in return. Kate's actions (and Jon's) will be paid for too. I am a person of great faith, and I believe we will answer to our creator on our judgement day. We will all have things to atone for, but these two......well, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes on that day, unless they change their ways and repent. I try not to judge, but they are so public and blatant in their every indiscretion. They could learn some very valuable lessons from a person such as yourself.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I'm not one to defend Kate, but I try to be reasonable too. As someone said, we don't know if the consignment shop doesn't give to charity. Although she is smiling awfully big for someone who just did something for nothing. We also don't know if all the clothes she gave to consignment were donated. We know Peace Love World donates clothes but I highly doubt ALL the kids clothes are donated at this stage. Eight kids go through a lot of clothes and they're older now, not as many donations anymore.

Kate could be shooting herself in the foot anyway since donating directly to charity may end up saving her more money in tax breaks in the long run. So if that's the case we can just laugh.

Anyway, I don't see this as that big of a deal. If she doesn't want to give to charity, fine. She's selfish but so are a lot of people.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

So I guess I shouldn't have sold back my college textbooks because they should go to charity? Maybe I should have given them to a prison library. So much for garage sales! What about buying is it okay to buy used things people sell? I buy lots of things used and I sell things I don't need anymore. I always used to buy my textbooks used because I didn't need a perfect textbook and I didn't care if someone had highlighted it.

My rule is if I haven't used it in 12 months it's got to go--either sell it, give to charity, give to someone else, or garbage. Some things are shed by selling others not.

I think it's just silly to say you shouldn't sell things you no longer have use for. People have been doing this since the beginning of time. One man's junk is another man's treasure. I'm just not quite getting the moral objection here.

And also consignment shops do a lot of good for people. People are able to buy things at a deep discount without having their pride completely squandered by having to beg at a clothing cupboard or something.

Yes Kate is selfish, yes Kate should give to charity after all that was given to her. But to fault her for taking a few outfits to a consignment shop and maybe getting a little money for it is just a little much.

To the person who condescendingly compared being a nanny to being a janitor, I'm not publishing that comment.

But just remember, that janitor is the person caring for YOUR CHILDREN. Treat them like crap and how do you think they will treat your children? Good families who really care about their children will treat the person charged with raising those children like gold.

Unbelievable.

So much has been given to the Gosselins out of the goodness of other people's hearts. In that same turn, Kate should GIVE BACK all that was given to her.

Kate should donate her freebies to charity. She shouldn't make a profit off of something that is donated. It just comes off as greedy and small minded.

kathy said...

Admin, I think what anger's people about Kate's consignment store selling is that she has been militant about controlling her kids so the donated clothes remain spotless so she can get top dollar on consignment. They were not allowed to run in grass, not allowed to do anything messy like coloring at the Crayola factory, and in short, not allowed to be kids.

Then add that many of the clothes were free or donated to HER, AND that she made 3 million dollars last year, and her insistence on selling rather than giving away these clothes coupled with all her other behaviors make her look very greedy and frankly mentally unstable. She is proving daily that she cares about NOTHING other than money and her vanity. Rich people sell their used things too, BUT most of them have not been the recipients of large amounts of charity at any point in their lives like Kate most definitely was.

Kate's not just selfish, she's an extremist. There is a difference.

mary said...

I used to sell my clothes to the consignment stores. I realized I got $7 for a whole tub and they refused almost all other clothes. They only want name brand (no Target, Old Navy) clothes.

Now I donate to thrift and then go shopping at the thrift store I just donated to. You wouldn't believe some of the great items I've gotton at Salvation Army and Goodwill. My really nice kids clothes (Lily Pulitzer is about it) go to friend's children. I refuse to have a consignment store give me $5 for a beautiful $68 dress.

At our poorest we gave away our children's crib to our church. My husband actually went to the scary part of town and set the crib up for a new family. He came back and said that was much more rewarding than getting $25 for it. He was so right.

K8 taking her kids' clothing to a consignment shop it not the problem. K8 making money from clothing that was donated to her and not paying it forward is the problem.

With all she has been given (NOT EARNED) she has never shown herself to be grateful in any way. She is a greedy, selfish taker , not a compassionate, charitable bone in her body.

BTW : her lame yard sale doesn't count - she still made more money than she gave. St Jude doesn't count - she gave those terminally ill kids J&K DVD's and books and KMart gifts that TLC purchased.

Markiesnana said...

Well, I think that selling your textbooks makes sense, as other students will need them and they cost a lot. However, textbooks are "specific" and kids clothes are needed by so many who fit into a child's size 4, 5, 6, etc..
However, my feeling about her selling rather than helping someone is that the first few years she was pretty blatant about asking the public for help.
She, in turn, received help in so many ways.
Usually, when this takes place, a person returns the favor when they are able. I think it's usually done when a person feels that they have been blessed by others in their time of need and they have a heart toward the needs of others. In this case, I certainly would turn around and send outgrown, unused items to families who have little ones....or even to these other "multiples" families. Certainly she knows first hand how it is to line them all up at a "multiples" table and feed them, and how many outfits it takes multiples to be dressed in pajamas, play clothes and school clothes. She did, however, say in one of those early programs that she was not a "giver". I thought that was a little embarrassing at the time. Of course, that's way back when little red flags were popping up and we were scratching our heads in puzzlement.

Anonymous said...

I agree that it's the intent of her actions. When she received the clothes she fully intended to sell them. These were not "clothes so my kids can run and play and get dirty."

These were "clothes I can sell for profit later so they can't get dirty."

They were a business transaction from the beginning, and her children were unable to be "real" kids because of it. Kind of like the taping of the show.

If the kids had been allowed to roll down hills, eat ice cream, and play with markers, she probably would have donated them and taken a tax deduction. And I would guess that it wouldn't have been a blip on the radar, except to say, Kate's been donating clothes. How nice of her. That would've been my reaction.

Has anyone been able to ID the consignment shop?

And what a great lesson that would've been (donation) for the kids. See we are so fortunate, we are now going to give clothes to people who aren't doing so well right now. This will help their families, just like people have helped us.

The kids could've helped out. Kids understand that stuff and it does make an impression.

But that would take parenting and compassion.

heather

That's the issue though. We're making big assumptions to assume that all these clothes she is selling were donated.

Do I think they still get a lot of freebies? Yes. But I find it hard to believe that ALL the clothes they have are still donated. Maybe they are, I just find it hard to believe.

If they were donated, of course she should donate them back. But I also think Kate has a choice to be greedy and selfish as long as it doesn't exploit her kids. There's just so much worse this woman has done I hate to get hung up on this. I am much more concerned with the way she has exploited her kids. This really has little to nothing to do with that.

I remember laughing at the garage sale because if she DONATED that junk she could write off the fair market value. But since you don't usually get fair market value at garage sales (I'll give you a quarter for the whole lot), she probably ended up making a lot less money.

This is why very few stupid people are able to get rich, let alone stay rich.

Bubbles said...

Kathy, I agree with your point. Kate taking clothes that she didn't pay for to a consignment shop is just plain greedy. We know for a fact that Gymboree provided free clothing for the kids and we've seen her freak out over them getting dirty and seen her complain about how much time laundry takes.

This is a total guess here, but I would be willing to bet that TLC purchases all the clothing we see the children and Kate in on the episodes as "wardrobe" for them, and it's pretty likely that on top of that she's getting freebies from clothing companies for herself and the kids, too.

It is entirely possible that Kate does donate some items, and my hope is that she does and we just don't know about it...which is how it should be.

To the poster above who lives on a fixed income and still donates money - you have a kind and generous soul and your kindness is a blessing to many. I truly believe it will be returned to you a thousandfold!

Usually you have to give back wardrobe clothes but you can sometimes buy them if you like them if there's that option.

But it's certainly possible that all part of the deal is clothes, food, utility bills, toys, who knows what else. I remember an insider explained once that craft services feeds everyone, "cast" and crew alike, on filming days. That might explain why Kate only puts out a few grapes and tortilla chips for meals. The kids are FULL from real food from craft services, lol.

Personally, I'd rather take payment in cash money, not crappy clothes and toys.

Then why are there photos here showing her coming out of the dry cleaner's and the consignment shop, if this has little to nothing to do with exploiting her kids? In fact, why is there a photo of the kids getting on the school bus, and one of Jon picking them up? How do first day of school photos show exploitation? I'm probably a minority on the bus issue too--I think it's good for these kids to ride to school like everybody else does. Sounds like it's a brief moment where they feel normal. An hour in the car with mom or nannies with Kate harping on whatever she is harping on at the moment sounds like hell. Also good socialization time with other kids. It would be nice if they could get on the bus in privacy. I rode the bus, most kids did at my school. My mom could have brought me to school but she thought it would make me stuck up to be catered to like that. You get on the bus like everybody else you're not special. I think she had a point.

I do think that there is quite a bit of sponsorship going on, maybe she does buy some stuff, Stride Rite is definately donating the shoes... I mean two shows about buying shoes two school year in a row?? come on... and I noticed the kids only wear Skechers shoes during the year,I have seen s huge box of them at the UPS store, before she headed out to FlA.
She had them rounded up on that table when she was packing. As for the other clothes, we cannot be certain of their origin, but it's pretty appaling that she just doesn't find someone to give them too. Consignment is usually for the people who really need a pick me up wallet wise for back to school.

Anonymous pick a name. The nanny, like it or not, is far more privy to what really goes on in a celebrity home than anyone else can hope to be. If you have not been a celebrity nanny, you don't know. If I wanted to be a nanny I would have kept doing it, no delusions here. I don't know the answer to why Kate is doing the Emmys, did I claim to? That has nothing to do with being a nanny. I didn't LIKE that lifestyle that's why I got out of it. It was fake and cruel and it stinks to be a kid always in your parent's shadow when the attention is supposed to be on you in childhood, I was tired of watching it. It's very hard for Kate fans to comprehend that someone would give up the celebrity lifestyle to go lead a normal life, I know. Because they all want to be just like Kate.

Sounds like the Kate fans cannot control their jealousy. They've never worked under anyone but middle management and have to overcompensate by being angry and lashing out at anyone who has had a job that is remotely interesting.

Ok, I'm laughing too. But it is possible.

Well said Admin. The kids do live in Kate's shadow and she is not about to give the spotlight up. TLC has changed the show without telling Kate. Her mental illness is coming in handy right about now, as viewers drop off. They are still hoping to pull in the rubber neckers. That is why they let her voice over her lines about being a mom concerned with education and culture, then show what looks like a coke addicted hooker with heels and implants bouncing running through the streets of NYC shrieking about melting ice cream cones. Her outfits, her state of delusion, all very fragile and concerning. This is her legacy to her children.

Been gone off of here a few days and I missed quite a bit. Close family friends of mine lost their son this week, he was like a son to me, and a brother to my kids, it has been a hard week for our family, but I am trying to move on. I prefer to donate clothes than consign them, because I live in a small town with so many needy families that could use them. Like someone else said in their post above, I also give my really nice kids clothes to my friends children. I am a poor philanthropist, and give when I have it. It truly amazes me that Kate does not participate in charitable even or fully supports any charity. She is not a nice person. She does not know how good she really has it.

kjs said...

I appreciate that Kate sends her clothes to a consignment shop. I am a teacher and a middle class citizen that shop's at Nothing's New (where Kate drops her children's clothing). The prices are comparable to Goodwill & other charities where people shop. However, the quality and cleanliness of clothing is far superior at this consignment shop. It is possible that Kate donates her clothing here. However, even if she receives the few pennies for each item that a consignment shop will share, I cannot fault her. It takes more time to go through the consignment process than to dump a big bag of clothing in a dumpster for a charity. Ultimately, her first responsibility is to her family and their wellness. I'd rather that she be smart with her money than spend it foolishly.

How about taking the time to teach the children the importance of donating items to a charity organization, such as a social services clothing bank, or a church...stressing to them that because they have been blessed with having very nice items that it's time to give back to the community?
It would seem that this also would contribute to the "wellness" of the family in that these children would learn the importance of giving, rather than always receiving. To me this would be much more valuable than the few pennies (let's face it...a drop in the bucket to what she's receiving in income from TLC) that she makes from selling used clothing.

Can an old dog be taught new tricks? Isn't it kind of late for that now that she's become accustomed to spending the children's money on a plethora of gladiator shoes, cut-to-the-waist tops, tanning sessions, hair extensions, nips and tucks, ad nauseaum?

Webster's defines empathy as: the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner; also : the capacity for this

Kate's apparent lack of EMPATHY is what I feel everyone is trying to express when they are commenting on her not donating the clothing, not being considerate of her children's feelings and pain, etc., etc. and etc. In my opinion that is the root of whole problem - Kate lacks empathy for anyone or any living creature other than herself. Agreed, in principle. The big "but" here is that Kate is selling clothes in consignment stores that were GIVEN to her -- She doesn't pay for all the kids' matchy-matchy outfits, and hasn't pretty much since the tups were born. The fact that she then turns around and profits off of these freebies is just more evidence of what a self-absorbed, greedy, thankless scam-artist she is.

This goes beyond "being smart" with one's money. This is pure, unadulterated, narcissistic greed. She's constantly got her hand out for the freebies; freebies she no longer *needs* as she clearly has the income to pay for her family's clothing (as well as their shoes, trips, juice, staff, etc. etc). This woman is a black hole of greed: Everything gets sucked in; nothing ever comes back out.

Because she got the next-best-thing: the *son* of a wealthy and successful doctor. Jon's dad provided a great deal of financial support to Jon and Kate before his death. They had a nest-egg rumored to be over $30,000 at the time of the tup's birth. Kate was reported to have said that she didn't feel they should have to use their own money to support the kids, and instead insisted on freebies and the generosity of others. She's been quoted as saying that since society/science provides the means for HOM, society should have to support the kids. Once again, nothing is her fault or her responsibility. I'm paraphrasing, but if you google the article that reports her fight to have the state-provided nurse renewed for another year, you'll get the quote verbatum. This is a truly irrational, delusional, and self-absorbed woman.

rich and poor and in-between. Some could have come to school in Cadillacs, others in beat up old VW's. When everyone gets off a school bus, nobody has anything to be ashamed of or proud of. It's a yellow school bus.

For the Gosselin kids, they are on a TV show. They have nannies and notoriety. Riding a bus
to school makes then absolutely no different from the kid six streets over, or who lives 40 miles the other direction from the school. It's a yellow school bus they're all riding.

Plus, all that talk time with friends and wind-down time before the storm hits at home. I'm all for riding buses.

Bus vs. car ride:

I'm on the fence about this only because we are assuming that the bus ride is a haven from K8 and her cruelty. Unfortunately, the bus ride could also prove to be torture for the kids if they are teased.

On another note, I am actually glad that K8 parked closer to the bus instead of parking on the opposite end of the lot so the paps could get their $ shots while they walked to the bus.

If Kate receives free children's clothing for filming purposes or boxes of free clothes for product endorsements, etc. then it's doubtful she even allows her children to wear the name brand, more expensive clothes for everyday use. She probably takes the like new, worn once children's work clothes to the consignment shop so she can buy no brand, tagless, slightly imperfect bargain bin clothes for the children and a new pair of hooker heels for herself.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Kate parks close to the bus and herds the children into the bus. She's criticized for staging this to look like she's avoiding the paps while creating a circus.

Kate parks a distance away (last year) and is accused of seeking publicity and making it a photo op for the paps. She's criticized for being a media whore and not protecting the kids from those out to make a buck off the photos.

Exactly where is she supposed to park? Perhaps some of the locals should get out there in the morning and stake out the perfect parking space for her that would meet with everyone's approval.

I'm no Kate fan (or sheeple) by any means, but wow, she's damned if she does, and damned if she doesn't.

Come on, are you really serious in thinking that a BUS RIDE is the great leveler in equalizing the elementary school experience at the Gosselin’s PRIVATE school???? This is an EXCLUSIVE school. Parents pay THOUSANDS of dollars to send their kids there. It doesn’t matter if you arrive on horseback – everyone who attends the school knows that the students who attend are of a caliber who can afford to pay the school’s tuition. Granted, the “uniforms” of white shirts/khaki pants and/or jumpers provide a degree of uniformity that takes the focus away from who can afford the fanciest clothes (BTW, I totally agree with this, and wish ALL schools in America could enforce such a dress code – it would save so many kids a lot of heartache). In the case of the Gosselin kids’ school: kids who ride the bus have parents who either work and can’t carve out time for the exorbitant car-ride to said exclusive school, and/or are too lazy to make the sacrifice to drive 45 minutes each way to make sure their kids are dropped off safely and securely (i.e., Kate & Jon). There’s no good reason that Kate and/or Jon can’t drive the kids to school each day. Forcing them to ride on a cold and impersonal school bus is the parents’ CHOICE. Given that neither Kate nor Jon has any “job” preventing either from performing carpooling duties makes it pretty clear that these two are just self-absorbed, selfish grifters who USE their kids rather than CARE for them. Sorry, but in this instance, riding the school bus is the parents’ easy way out, and not in the best interest of the kids.

Wrong. Absolutely incorrect. There are many, many students there on financial aid and scholarships. Some are inner-city kids. The thing is, it's not public information. Kids don't know which of their classmates are financial aid students. Of course, they may know whose father is a Wall Street broker, and whose parents do what, but it's not public knowledge as to which kids are receiving financial aid, or which kids' tuitions are funded through scholarships, awards, grants or private donations. This is the way that it should be.

"There’s no good reason that Kate and/or Jon can’t drive the kids to school each day."

How do you know that the children actually don't PREFER riding a school bus? Would you want to be alone in a car for two hours with Kate every day?

I tend to agree I don't like the damned if she does damned if she doesn't mentality sometimes. I try to be fair when it comes to both Kate AND Jon. If she does something good I say so. When she does something unacceptable I certainly say so.

I don't see anything wrong with how she is handling the situation of getting them to school. If she drove them to school they would be different and special. A school bus ride never hurt a kid. If anything it teaches kids you have to be at a certain place at a certain time every day or you're left behind. And we simply don't know that ALL the clothes she sold were first donated to her.

Every other big family could go to consignment and not be criticized. You do little tricks like consignment to stretch your dollars. I think Kate should practice stretching her dollar for when the house of cards falls. One of my big problems with her is her mismanagement of money.

If you donate something to someone do you hope they pay it forward? Of course. But once you donate something, it's out of your hands. That person can do what they want with it, including regifting it or selling it. You don't give things to people with conditions. Either give things to them and let what will be, be, or don't give at all.

Yes I do. Exclusive schools are not entirely made up of rich kids. My hometown pastor sent
his 5 children to an exclusive, top notch school on scholarships and school grants, all 5 of them being there at the same time for many years. His pastor's salary alone would never have paid one kid's tuition. They rode the bus with the children of CEO's and inherited wealth, and, get this, the headmistress' children. There was no way to tell who was who because of mode of transportation and uniforms. It was a great system for them.

Thank you for sharing this. This describes the school system exactly. Those who think that the school is exclusive to only those who can afford the tuition are basing their assertions on mis-information or simply guesswork. I could elaborate much more on this, but the financial means of the students -- the wealth factor, the scholarships offered -- is not under discussion here, nor should it be. Just suffice it to say that the school body is not made up of the rich and famous, the inherited wealth, the nanny-supervised kids, or those who come to school in Escalades or limos. Each student is given the attention he needs to succeed academically, in an atmosphere of caring and excellence, regardless of the economic status of his parents.

The Gosselins should have a great year. They're not going to know, or care, who is the son of a prominent heart surgeon, or the daughter of a warehouse worker, who can afford the tuition and who can't. All they are going to know is that these are their classmates and friends.

As I noted above, this is not the first time Kate has been busted at a consignment store.

We all know Kate was getting free Gymboree clothes because Gymboree clerks posted that Kate was rude when she came in for her freebies. Rumor had it that Kate was only supposed to get X amount but always wanted more and this is why the freebies stopped. Whether this was the case or if it was because Gymboree got a lot of letters were written them because they were supporting child exploiters we will never know.

Admin has a point, when you give something there should be no strings attached. Personally I really don't have a problem with Jon and Kate taking their large items such as the donated cribs to a consignment shop, in fact it makes sense that Kate would do this since she is such a fanatic when it comes to coupons and these items would generate some "real money" when sold.

But I have a problem with the little things such as the clothes, donated or not, going to a consignment shop because it is showing me that Kate does not care one iota about anyone else around her whatsoever. It is all about her. Period.

We all know Gymboree, PeaceLove, and even viewers have sent the kids free clothes. So let's say a kid's shirt sells for $2 so Kate gets 50 cents. Yes it adds up but when you take into consideration how much the locals in particular have given to this family - even when they knew they no longer needed it but yet they still felt justified in grifting - Kate still wants more! Selling the used clothing shows me that Kate won't "pay it forward" whatsoever, even a teeny tiny little bit, so she is IMO an ungrateful disgusting human being!

So when I see that Kate sells her kids clothes, I see that Kate refuses to acknowledge her own community and neighbors at all. She won't help them even the ones who are really in need due to the current economy. Yet these could be the same people who at one time helped them with not only monetary gifts but who also volunteered their time when the Gosselins needed it.

There was an episode with a yard sale. The bloggers knew TLC had to show Jon and Kate as giving back and I'm sure viewers bought it hook, line and sinker. But it did not work with the bloggers; we figured Kate kept some of the proceeds, if not all, because she got the "full credit" because it was on TV. C'mon think about it, do you really think Kate would feel justified in not taking out at least the money it cost her to rent the truck to get the items to the yard sale?

Kate is a master grifter who has gotten so much since the six pack has hit the ground. How can she justify and/or not allow anyone else other than her immediate family to benefit from the same charity shown to them when they truly needed it?

Perfect example is the free organic cow and Kate sells half to it to her brother Kevin and Aunt Jody. The kicker is I'm willing to bet Jon and Kate did not have any room in a freezer for a full cow, and since we all know that Kevin and Jody have spent hours babysitting the G8 ... did Kate and Jon ever babysit for them when they needed a break? If not, a gift of half of the free cow when they did not have the freezer space anyway would have been a perfect way to say thank you - to family and not complete strangers! - as far as I'm concerned. But no, when it comes to Kate it always comes down to money.

FTR I not only give to but also buy from the Salvation Army. Part of my motivation is because I have a cousin who in the past has been homeless due to his alcoholism and Salvation Army has an Adult Rehab Center (ARC) which helped him rebuild his life. More than once. So instead of sending my cousin money, I support Salvation Army knowing that there are many people who have found help there when they truly need it.

--------

I can verify that this is true. I was there for one of these encounters.

Here's what we DON'T know, however. We don't know that she is making money off the items she hauls into the consignment shop. It's possible that she's giving them to the shop, and in turn, the shop sees that needy families get them. Nothing has been confirmed, and therefore to speculate that she's profiting from this really isn't valid. In fact, we don't know that all of these items were freebies. Could she be purchasing items online, or buying items in stores? Of course she could.

I just think there are too many variables in this to make a judgment call. If it comes out, and can be confirmed that all of the freebies she's received are being sold in consignment shops for profit, then criticism may be justified. What she should be doing to avoid more negativity is to donate these items to social services organizations, or to churches, or any other not-for-profit groups that really benefit the needy. She would take a tax write-off for it, which may be more beneficial to her than a mere fifty cents she's going to make off a Gymboree shirt.

Another monkey wrench to throw into the mix...we also don't know that she's not donating SOME of the clothing (those that might be more than just gently used) to charities, and only the items in acceptable condition are going to the consignment shop. This shop is very selective in what is accepts. Perhaps the Salvation Army, Goodwill, church groups, etc., ARE getting some of the items. I know that her life, and everything she does, appears to be an open book, but it's just possible that there are some things that will remain a mystery, and not for viewers' blogging pleasures.

That said, she has been proven to be a master grifter, but I think that one of these days her grifting is going to come to a very abrupt halt. I hope she saved for the "ungriftable" days ahead.

Kate stretches her dollars on the kids while spending lavishly on herself. She says organic milk is too expensive. She sells their clothes on consignment and thus terrorizes them to stay unnaturally clean while she forces them to pose, matching, for endless photo-ops. She refuses to take them anywhere unless a camera crew is following and they are enduring filming. She has gone on the record to say that they will have to earn their own money when they grow up, and that they will all share a car that they earn money for and she might price match. She says these insulting things about these children who have been worked since they were babies.

She earned 3 million dollars last year yet she claims there isn't enough for them to attend college. This even after she grifted churches specifically (purportedly) for their college funds for several years.

She spares no expense on herself. She stays in luxurious hotels wherever she goes, spends tens or hundreds of thousands on her appearance and comfort while depriving her kids of their dignity or even, in my opinion, adequate food for their growing bodies.

She is completely mental. That's why her 'economizing' by selling her childrens clothes is met with such contempt by the public. The only place she will economize in on her children, who are providing for her lavish lifestyle in the first place.

Anon- yes, there is a ton of speculation, but sometimes educated guesses are pretty accurate.

How many stories are there of K8's rude, greedy, horrible behavior. From day one, she had her hands out begging for everything from cribs to a 15 passenger van. Gawd, she even had the cajones to ask the good Dr for a gratis boob lift in addition to the gratis tummy tuck (and recovery in his beautiful home ) he was already providing her. She rejected clothing and furniture because they weren't new or matching. People had her number from the get go, there are numerous archives out there - very interesting reading.

Now, let's go to the flip side. How many stories are there of K8 being nice, kind, generous, thoughtful, etc? Aside from the fictional tales as told by a sheeple or two, all we hear are crickets chirping.

If K8 has done anything remotely charitable, why haven't all the hundreds of paps who follow her taken one photo? Even a small blurb in a local newspaper would suffice. Thus far ? Nada.

The only moments showing her "charity work" was for filming purposes only, and even then her actions were completely scripted and disingenuous.

Speculation or otherwise, I think K8SUCKS !

Doesn't TLC foot the bill for travel/rental houses/accommodations when filming? Weren't her hair extensions paid for by TLC? It was reported as such. ===================================

Kate may be many things, but to say that she deprives her children of adequate food is really unfounded. These are tiny children, small-boned, delicate features, slim...not all kids have voracious appetites and eat huge amounts three times a day. Many of them (mine included) are pickers or grazers, and do just fine on small amounts at a sitting. We're not there 24/7. We don't see what their daily diet consists of.

"She refuses to take them anywhere unless a camera crew is following and they are enduring filming."
===================================

So you're saying that unless they are filming, these kids are prisoners at home? She doesn't take them anywhere? Again, we're not there 24/7. We don't know if she takes them anywhere when the cameras aren't filming.

"She is completely mental."
======================================

No argument there, and I think that's being generous!

@K8SUCKS...

You're forgetting that she begged the state of PA to keep the child care going after the first year, saying that because medical science was responsible for the research to create multiples, it was also society's responsibility to support them. That's a documented fact. She's a taker.

You don't hear anyone coming out and saying how wonderful she is, how generous she is, what a fantastic person she is because she's not. She's rude and obnoxious. I've seen it, and that's a fact.

But to say that she's made x-amount of dollars last year is speculation and has not been documented. To say that she purposely starves her children is conjecture. To say that she doesn't drive her children to school because she intentionally forces them to ride a cold and impersonal school bus is really stretching it. To say that she and Steve were playing legsies on the beach is heresay. So far we haven't seen any photos to prove it. In fact, they may very well be having an affair, but so far it has been confirmed. It wouldn't surprise me in the near future that this will be shown to be true. Nothing in her world would shock me. But so far it is speculation.

I guess I have far too many attorneys (and judges) in my life...those who deal in facts rather than in speculation and exaggeration. It's the old innocent until proven guilty, beyond reasonable doubt thing. What is a fact, though, is that these kids are being exploited beyond belief to the point that very soon something's gotta give. There has to be a special place in Dante's Inferno for someone who does this to her own children. I hope these kids make it through this unscathed, but we have every indication that this isn't going to be the case.

I totally agree with you on the speculation about K8 and Steve , K8 and Jamie and many other theories.

I was just pointing out that , based on Jon and K8's history, there are comments that can/should be given a lot more credence than just speculation. Believe me, I would love for K8 to NOT be the monster that she seems to be but unfortunately, too much has happened that makes it painfully obvious that K8 is indeed an incredibly cruel and selfish woman who does NOT truly care about her children's well being.

Anyway, that's all I was trying to say. I enjoyed your comments, thanks for good discussion !!

"She earned 3 million dollars last year yet she claims there isn't enough for them to attend college."
================================

Has that been confirmed? Has her federal income statement been released? Sure, it might have been reported as such, but with such erroneous accounting in the past, can anything be certain? Is that gross...or is it net? There's a big difference.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Below are the figures that I believe are more true than not and why:

$22,500 per episode per Jon on Larry King Live. Even if the $75,000 makes more sense, it does not mean that Jon and Kate were paid this amount. Besides, I don't know where the 75K figure came from. Also when Kate said Jon took money, and Jon said he did but it was his pay due to him, one of the withdrawals amounts was at the $22,500 rate.

$80,000 was missing/unaccountable for so Kate tells Jon she put it into kid account(s). Then we find out this was made mandatory by labor board. Re this figure, is it 15% of what the family made for all the episodes combined? Or just a figure that Kate likes?

$20,000 per month in child support per court docs

$25,000 per month to Jon from TLC with his mandatory $20,000 child support payment going directly to Kate and Jon gets the remaining $5,000 each month to do whatever he does. Also it was reported somewhere that Jon gets $70,000 per year from TLC just to let the kids be filmed and that is close to the amount if you figure 5,000 x 12 months so I tend to believe Jon lives on $70,000 per year.

$250,000 per each episode of Kate + 8 per TV GUIDE

I assume that this $250,000 is minus 15% which goes to the kids to be divided 8 ways

$125,000 to all to dance first show of DWTS;
$50,000 - $75,000 for each week thereafter/
$500,000 was total amount reported by Popeater

$0 in book sales for last book :)

$3,000,000 is estimated to be Kate's worth NOT what she made last year

$1,000,000 is estimated to be Jon's worth

With the exception of the salary per TV GUIDE and the court docs, all of the above figures are based upon blogs. I have no written confirmation and I have reason to believe I never will see any tax documents either. Nevertheless these are the numbers that I believe are more true than false.

"$3,000,000 is estimated to be Kate's worth NOT what she made last year

=================================

Who is doing this "estimating?" When was it done? After the amount of child support he has had to pay, do you suppose this is still true? The money isn't going to last forever.

You're inclined to believe this to be more true than false? You're doing quite a bit of "assuming" and "believing" here. I seem to remember all of those figures that were thrown around last year as to what she was making for each episode. Nobody could agree...and the "confirmed" reports ranged from $20,000 an episode to $150,000 an episode with every amount in between thrown in there. It was laughable. Everyone was sure that the amounts reported were accurate.

Kathy said, "She earned 3 million dollars last year..." This is exactly what I'm talking about. Misinformation based on rumor. It's kind of like Whisper Down The Lane. By the time the info is reported on various blogs, and repeated as gospel, it takes on a life of its own.

I guess I'm just not that gullible. At this point, when it comes to who earns what, where it goes, how much was "stolen," it's all hearsay. Even with court docs, we really don't have a total picture of the entire financial story. And really, is it any of our business in the whole scheme of things? How is any of this contributing to getting these kids off television, which should be the main focus in this travesty.

Anon,

I only responded tonight because I am sure Kate is not making $3M per year. I heard the above posted net worths - where they came from I don't know - BUT then a week later people have the information twisted as income. All I did was to try to do "damage control".

If I had to do a best guess, I would say Kate is only worth $2M and the only way this number will go up is if Kate + 8 continues filming and/or if there really is a show called Twist of Kate that will be hitting the airwaves this fall.

Whether or not the child support payments are still this high I do not know. The Gosselins finally got wise and sealed the records. The only thing I know though is that Jon will be paying X amount based upon a formula adopted by the court; Kate does not get to demand whatever amount she wants out of Jon simply because she is Kate Gosselin :)

I get your point, I agree that most of the financial info out there is heresay and it does take a life of its own. We bloggers on both sides of this Gosselin mess are only doing best guesses as to what really is fact or fiction.

As for getting the Gosselin kids off television once and for all - which is my main focus -there is only one way:

DO NOT WATCH OR RECORD KATE + 8

and if you really don't want kids on any reality TV show, do not watch the new show "Quints By Surprise" tomorrow night either.

It was reported in the divorce documents that Kate was receiving 100,000 per month this year and last from TLC as a baseline salary (even when NO shows were in production!) She was also getting 20,000 from Jon as child support, and I believe that is non taxable. I saw a report for her DWTS salary as 650,000. Then there is the reported 250,000 per episode for Kate plus 8.

If you add this all up, it exceeds 3 million for the past 12 months. I believe Kate's net worth is a lot more than 3 million. She had two successful books and plenty of lucrative speaking engagements before this year. She also had big endorsements. She had been banking a lot of money for years now. TLC was reportedly making 162 million per quarter on Jon and Kate plus eight so for the past two years, they have been throwing money at Kate, but nowhere near what they made. I have heard estimates of Kate's networth to be closer to ten million than three.

This past June, she gave an interview stating there is NOT ENOUGH for the children to attend college. She is a liar.

Tara said...

I agree that it's unbelievable that Kate can't find it in her heart to give back a little. After all the donations from kind hearted people who probably didn't have much to give themselves and the freebies from all the sponsors she still can't be generous to others less fortunate? She has to squeeze every last cent out of these free things. Kate has got to be the greediest person alive.

Tara said...

To the people who think maybe Kate is donating some things to charity and we don't know about it. My thoughts are if Kate was donating anything at all the public we definitely know about it. She would make sure of that. She wouldn't be taking clothes to a consignment store to be donated.

Anonymous said...

Kathy...I'm sorry. I'm confused. You wrote, "She earned 3 million dollars last year yet she claims there isn't enough for them to attend college. This even after she grifted churches specifically (purportedly) for their college funds for several years." (August 29 @4:03).

Now you write, "I only responded tonight because I am sure Kate is not making $3M per year."

Then you write..."
If I had to do a best guess, I would say Kate is only worth $2M...", but in the same post you say, "I believe Kate's net worth is a lot more than 3 million."

Which is it??? I'm missing something and the heat here isn't helping much!

Then you write...

"If you add this all up, it exceeds 3 million for the past 12 months. I believe Kate's net worth is a lot more than 3 million. She had two successful books and plenty of lucrative speaking engagements before this year. She also had big endorsements. She had been banking a lot of money for years now"

Sure...if you don't spend it! Have you sat down and calculated the amount she's spent on that property...mortgage, school and property taxes, state and federal taxes, maintenance, pool, school tuition, utilities, landscaping, etc. etc. etc., plus the taxes she's paying if she's in that tax bracket? The figures you're quoting aren't net, but gross! She can't sit and hoard her "worth." It would be nice to do so, but when you calculate the money you've banked, you also have to calculate the money spent, plus the money you're spending!

"I have heard estimates of her networth to be closer to ten million than three. This past June, she gave an interview stating there is NOT ENOUGH for the children to attend college. She is a liar."

Not necessarily...not if she's SPENT IT! I'm not getting into the cost of all of her expenses, but let's just say tuition from Pre-K through graduation is going to be 1.6 million (ballpark -- not taking into account rate increases). That's a sizeable chunk out of a net worth of three million if you consider that TLC may pull the plug shortly. A net worth of three million sounds mighty fine, but if you consider the expenses she has and will have (without TLC's help), even if the money is invested, she's going to be dipping into the principal by the time the kids are in college.

This is PA we're talking about. The ex-wives are always right! I think there was a discussion about this on another blog. If TLC cuts Jon loose, and he finds another job, files for a reduction in child support and isn't making nearly the income to be able to pay her $20,000 in child support, the court can and will find him underemployed and calculate his required support based on what he is capable of earning. It's happened. I've seen it, and it isn't pretty...at least not for the ex-husband.

I'm with you...the main focus is getting these kids off television. I had no plans to watch the new show. One train wreck is enough, and I haven't watched that one on television for a very long time.

I was responding to Mickey McKean who was responding to Anon. If you notice, the first part of my post was wrapped in quotes. That indicates that those are not my words.

My response came after. I believe Kate is worth more 10 million or more and I posted why I think this.

If Kate has not put aside college money after amassing multimillions under that guise, she is living TOO LAVISH a lifestyle and I don't feel sorry for her in the slightest. She needs to scale back the lifestyle she's living or come up with a marketable skill that doesn't involve compromising her children and their childhoods.

As for what kates net worth is...we really dont know. But what we do know is that she has made ALOT of money in the last 3 years.I do believe kate has made millions...more than enough to cover the goal she had when this circus started. That goal was to have enough money for all the kids to go to college. We have heard her cry over and over again about her being so very poor...that she cant afford the basics in life like...um...MILK.
We have seen kate get make-overs...demanding ride in limos...to have a full time lover-bodyguard...maids...cooks...yard-workers...not-a-nannys...new clothes...trips...vacations.BUT yet kate still claimes that there isnt enough money for the kids to go to college.Really? We are so stupid that we will believe this?

We really dont know what kate pays for.I'm guessing its not much.I do believe TLC is footing the bill for pretty much everything. When they stop paying for it all,is when we'll see all this help go away. When kate has to pay for the life she wants...it will end.
To get back to the clothes...I will bet my last dollar that kate didnt pay for them. For her to make even 5 dollars off them is wrong.I think she should give anything she dosent need or want to the churchs and the people she ripped off by playing the poor card.
Its called karma honey!

BTW...Every parent would love to be able to send thier child/children to college.I have 2...there is no way in hell I can send them on a free ride.BUT...my kids will have something the go$$elin kids wont have.A work ethic...family support.Knowing that if you really want something in life, you'll work your ass off to get it.If you want it bad enough...you'll work hard to get it.
Your life is what you make it,if you made it nothing...you have no one to blame but yourself. Sadly...the kids have worked long enough to have that free ride...BUT will it be there for them when the time comes? That all comes down to mommy dearest.

She had better have plenty of ID on her when she attempts to interview the "stars" at the Emmys. I doubt many of them will recognize her.

I share the astonishment of the comments above. Selling the children's clothes that she probably didn't have to pay for in the first place - words fail me.

Sorry...but I'm not biting. Why isnt it ok for kate to make "a little money" off the kids clothes? She dosent BUY them! She makes a ton of money by selling the kids privacy...now she gets to make more money by selling stuff she didnt pay a dime for?I dont care if its only 5 bucks...she's not entitled to it!
Why dosent she give the out grown items to the churches she ripped off?You know, the church that bent over backwards to help them but it just wasent the "help" that kate demanded?

As for the blog? Its clear that someone from kates camp is reading here. The last thing I want to do is help this woman out.I dont talk about the way she dresses,I really dont give a shit. But I do believe the attention we are giving her keeps her going. They are cleaning up her image by reading the comments here.
I think we need to focus on what got us to this blog in the first place.Trying to get these kids thier privacy back.I dont care what she wears or where she goes.I do care about how long the kids are working and if they are being cared for.I think we need to focus on the kids.kates a liar we know that...call her out on her lies...show how all this crap is effecting the kids...Kate dosent care why we are talking about her clothes...all she thinks is Woot...they are looking at me! They are talking about me!!The kids need our help...not kate.Sorry...just my opinion.
