Crew directs Kate and kids to go fly a kite

As filming continues on the kids' endless working vacation, the paparazzi just happened to find the one beach of the thousands of beaches in North Carolina where Kate and the kids and the crew were hanging out.

A pap snapped pics of the crew directing Kate and the kids about flying a kite. The photos clearly show everyone standing around while the crew talks to them. Thought this was supposed to be reality. Remember the kite metaphor in Mary Poppins? That scene at the end where Jane and Michael's father realizes that his children need him, not the nanny, and he mends the kite and takes the children to go fly it, symbolic of a mended family. Will the Gosselins ever mend?

"Spontaneity is the spice of life." There is none in this family. The Gosselin children's every move is directed, not just by their mother but also a production crew. How will they ever learn to think for themselves and become well-adjusted adults? The fun element of children's activities is definitely removed when adults constantly interfere.

WHAT? They're filming and the kids aren't all dressed the same? Wow, some nanny is going to

Or maybe somebody reads these blogs and sees the
validity of the gripes about making them look like a set of teacups.

Kate says the kids weren't obeying the other day so she told them she'd marry a 6ft 4 inch state cop who'll yell at them "Go to your room" and the kids said "no mommy".

Yeah Kate...what the kids need is someone to yell at them MORE....ughhh, clueless!!!

IDModo said...

Jon manages all the kids on visits without help, but Kate needs a hulking State Cop to intimidate them into compliance?

Interesting that she chooses intimidation as her parenting style of choice. It's the style she uses with everyone else as well, along with manipulative tears and meltdowns.

SHE wants to be taken care of? Oh pleeease...

Great euphemism! Perhaps TLC's way of saying, "Get lost!" Go fly a kite, Kate!

Does she wear anything that is age-appropriate or something suitable amongst children? She looks like she is trying to be a 20-something waitress whore who is trying to snag a rich man. Grow up Kate! Your kids act more mature than you do. I wish you would truly think more about your kids and what they need rather than focusing on yourself and your materialistic needs.

She's a bully... I hate to admit this, because I don't like her taste in clothing- but the coverup she is wearing looks pretty. Definitely for the beach or pool. NO WHERE ELSE KATE, o.k.?!!

Moose Mania said...

At least it's not the bikini with "the girls" bopping all over the place. In fact, I kind of like the swim dress, or whatever it is! It hides the no-waist, misplaced belly button! It certainly is more appropriate attire to wear around kids than what she's been seen wearing at the beach or around town!

Kelly said...

I'd much prefer to see Kate wearing a burqua on the beach and for that matter, all around town, including her visits to the television studios. Now if they could only make a burqua with a Pella insulated storm window in place of the face screen so we don't have to listen to her voice as well. P.S. Make the storm window on the face dark dark tint so we can't even see her lying lips moving.

They started the summer by missing the end of school to go to Disney in L.A.
The beginning of the summer they went to Disney in Florida and Discovery Cove.
All with cameras in their faces.

They took a train, with cameras in tow, to NYC and walked around in 103 degree weather.
Warnings all over the country warned "stay indoors" but 8 Gosselin Children were paraded
around New York City for 3 days. .... with cameras in their faces.

A few weeks later, Kate and the kids flew to Alaska. More Zoos, more filming, disastrous camping
trip with Sarah Palin. Kate has meltdown in front of all 8 kids. Cameras probably filming.

All fly down to L. A. for a day or two. Back to Pennsylvania. 2 weeks before school starts and now
they are in Bald Head Island, SC, on the beach, with cameras in their faces.

This is the summer for the Gosselin children. What did your children do?

OzNTM said...

So she wants to marry a tall cop, hey? Hmm, Kelly, wanna take one for the team? Team 8 that is, and set her straight on how to raise kids, as you seem to be a great dad judging from your posts and would never take any crap from
Kate lol.

Joking aside, way to instill fear of the police into your kids, Kate! One less group of people these kids could turn to for help if ever needed. Family's out, mustn't talk to strangers, is there anyone these kids can trust?

None of the kids are smiling in any of those photos. Who flies a kite with a sad grin? Clearly they do not want to be there.

As for Kate "threatening" her kids when her kids we not obeying her by "marrying a 6'4 cop who will scream at them... And the kids crying "no mommy"...

Here is the video.

The only thing that surprises me about that is that everyone is so surprised by it. Kate Gosselin is acting very true to her character and the way she has always behaved. We read the other day her net worth was $3million, she will NEVER be satisfied even if she has $100million. It will never be enough. Not as long as she can make one thin dime off those kids. The future for those kids? She could care less. Nothing about what this woman does could surprise me.

Fidosmommy, I cracked up when I read that, but then it got me to thinking about confidentiality agreements. Admin, help me out with the legalities here. I understand that celebrities would want to have them in place as a matter of principal, for example if Mr. Celebrity gets caught wearing women's clothes and he doesn't want Mrs. Celebrity or the public to find out. But what about these celebrities who seem to think that piece of paper is their legal license to be verbally abusive (or otherwise) and incorrigible to their staff? We have seen how Kate treats people in public and on camera. Dear God, how must she act in private?! Kobe Bryant's wife punished her maid for washing and ruining a new blouse by putting dog feces in the same trash can the blouse's tags were in, then demanding the maid reach in and get the tags. Mrs. Bryant didn't deny this, but she tried to pursue the maid for breaking the confidentiality agreement. Is there any protection for people who sign these? There should be a clause making the contract void if the employer is abusive or unreasonable in their behavior. No one should have to sign away their right to be treated in a professional and dignified manner.

I don't get who they think is going to watch this crap?? How has any interest in watching a bunch of kids (supposedly on vacation)running around a beach, flying a kite or walking around NY city?? And listening to their so called mother barking orders the whole time. My guess would be that TLC is contracted to do a certain amount of episodes no matter how boring the subject matter may be and then be done with her. I can't imagine with the declining rating this will continue much longer. I can't wait until the next exclusive interview with Kate comes along and she's STILL crying poor mouth. No I still don't have enough for college, legal bills, 8 kids blah, blah, blah. As I have posted before I am one of 9 kids so I know about a big family first hand. My parents managed to send us to college and take good care of us without a reality show but I suppose we didn't have 25 bags of groceries per week like Kate does and have to live in a million dollar home. When it is time for college and who's to say they will all go? Kate uses that as her excuse to justify her actions but who necessarily even has a college fully established by the time the kids are 6 and 9 unless your Donald Trump. The whole idea to me is ridiculous. She'll probably force them to take out loans anyway.

scarfoot79 said...

We are led to believe the Gosselin children do not have complete college funds because that's the mantra of their mother, and we all know how truthish she is. To me, "not enough money to pay for college" in kate speak translates to "no college has offered a free 4 year ride X eight"...yet. But lord knows, she'll keep trying, because...say it with me now...it's all for the children.

Confidentiality is as confidentiality does. Remember TLC allowed Stephanie Santoro, a paid babysitter of the Gosselin's, a free pass when she was featured on the cover of People magazine and talked about Jon's abilities as a lover.

Never heard one peep about a lawsuit regarding her "confidentiality" agreement.

Anybody ever hear of mandated reporters ?

In the United States, mandated reporters are individuals who are obligated by law to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect. In general, any person who has contact with children in a professional capacity is a mandated reporter, although laws vary from state to state. Mandated reporter laws are designed to catch child abuse in its early stages, so that children do not suffer long term damage.

The laws are in place to protect children from abuse, it's just the people responsible turn the other way. And it is hard to prove mental and emotional abuse. Each state is different.

http://www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/laws_policies/statutes/manda.cfm

You can search each states laws. There is a wealth of information there if anyone wants to learn more.

I've always wondered why no one has brought this up before that I have seen. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

Tamara said...

Gotta share this...my 8 year old just happened to glance at this picture of Kate. She said "man, she sure does look alot different than she did on the TV show." So I asked, does she look better or worse? She said, "Worse!". Kids are so smart, I love it!

fidosmommy said...

I wouldn't call it a "modest" dress, but at least it is very appropriate for where she is.
She's worn tops with less coverage while wandering around with Jamie on shopping trips.
I don't mind loads of skin on beaches and around pools. It's normal.

That said, I still have problems with a mother who flaunts her body in front of her children
(no bra bendovers, derriere exposed in very skimpy bikinis, etc) and especially when it's on film for TV purposes.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I've spoken about mandated child abuse reporters before. The problem is we have no idea whether anyone has reported them as it's almost always confidential.

Mandated reporters aren't necessarily just anyone who has contact with kids. I work with kids and I'm not a mandated reporter. The big three are teachers, therapists, and doctors/nurses.

Lots of people who work with kids aren't any of those. And just because you're a mandated reporter doesn't mean people are complying with their duty to report.

Hard to Keep Loving Jon said...

It's not a good job being a mandated abuse reporter. I sobbed for days after having to report a suspected family rape of an 8 yr old -- which turned out to be accurate. Granddad is in jail and dam family has yet to get the little girl phych help. A weird adjunct to the story: she told her 3rd grade girlfriends and NOT one of them reported it to their mothers ??? pls explain that to me...

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Also, sometimes mandated reporters report things that turn out to be nothing. Which results in broken families. Sometimes a kid really is just clumsy and always has lots of bruises. But what can you do, you have to report it.

It's not the reporter's fault, but whether it ends up being true or not it's rough being a mandated reporter. If it's true it's sad to know it happened, if it's not true you distrupted a family for no reason.

I have put mandated reporters on the witness stand and it's so clearly evident what a rough position they are in.

IDModo said...

Cintra- If you're suggesting that a mandated reporter should have reported something he/she saw on one of the Gosselin shows, read the PA child abuse legislation. I've said this a million times. None of it is child abuse in PA!

I was a mandated reporter and would have reported things I saw if the Gosselins were in my jurisdiction.

Heide said...

I think Kate has been reported to Child and Family Services. I've read where people overheard her saying she doesn't want the kids talking to a psychologist because you never know what kids are going to say and she doesn't want to be reported again [to Child and Family Services].

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Social workers don't waste a lot of time on these kind of borderline emotional abuse cases where parents are just selfish. They are too busy with the drug cases in the inner cities.

These people are overworked, underpaid, and not interested in trying to mess with a celebrity family and PA's treasure.

I hope that this goes through, because it is not "trash talking" another blog - just an observation.

I was stunned to be reading a blog that is no longer exclusively about the Gosselin's where Kate's mother has posted. This blog has had interviews with Jon and Ellen. Their most recent post "What I like about Kate" (or something like that,) has several responses from Kate's mom thanking the bloggers for their kind words about her Katie and how she would tell her all of the nice things that were being said about her.

I do read here every day, but rarely post.

Ashley is an adult and if she wants to spend her summer being a nanny for exploited children that's her choice.

These 10 year olds and 6 year olds wanted to stay with their daddy at the apartment pool. But they didn't have the choice.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

How do they know that is really Kate's mom? We have never seen a shred of evidence Kate's mom is in her life. Kate herself said in the 3rd birthday party episode her mom is NOT in their day to day lives. Her mother was not even at her children's third birthday party. She wasn't at any other bday party. She has never been seen on one episode of the show nor in any pap photo. I simply do not believe she has managed to avoid ALL filmed evidence she is in their lives.

Even if it is Kate's mom, maybe she needs to spend more time repairing her relationship so she gets invited to birthday parties and less time defending her daughter on a blog.

MTM, out of curiosity, what is it Kate's MOM likes about Kate? Or did she share that, LOL? BTW, I love your screen name!

MTM, one more thing...I think folks should ask Kate's mom how she and her husband felt when Kate wasn't willing to accept mismatched clothes, cribs, etc. from the members of the church. Did they go back to the church and share that piece of info. w/the congregation? Did that endear them all to Kate?

Anonymous - Thank you for the compliment on my name. I have loved the song, Inchworm (and Danny Kaye) from Hans Christian Anderson since I was very young. "Kate's Mom" didn't say what she liked about Kate, I don't think. Just thanked everyone for their compliments. I recall that she said something about Kate having to change her appearance, because that is what is expected of her as a celebrity (she may not have used that word.) Anyway, I don't have the stomach to go back and read it again tonight.

Usually mothers of celebrities are confident that their children are good people and they don't read the negative press about their baby and they sure don't need to go on the internet telling everyone to please believe how wonderful their child is.

Real mothers already know their kid is wonderful. I don't believe this for one second and I think those people are very gullible.

So someone named Ann allegedly met with her. Trolls often work in tag teams, claiming to be someone and working with someone else to vouch for them. That proves nothing. One of the best ways to prove yourself is what Jodi did, make a quick video vouching for yourself.

I don't really care whether she is her mom or not. Her mom needs to work on repairing her relationship with Kate and be in the children's lives instead of screwing around on a blog. Does she have an explanation why Kate cut her out of her children's lives??? Is she actually claiming she sees the kids? Did she manage to squeeze in a quick day visit sometime this summer in between the children's busy work schedule? Does she think it's okay for her grandchildren to support her child?

I also understand that many of the year round homeowners (it is a small island to begin with, and the full time residents are minimal in number and VERY familiar to the employees) were really upset with her actions, her demands, her camera crew and her snotty behavior, so much so, that MANY of them left the island for the week. 'Kate Plus 8' On Bald Head Island: Exclusive Details On The Gosselin Family's Working Vacation

Kate Gosselin, her eight kids, bodyguards and a TLC crew took the ferry to Bald Head Island, N.C., on Sunday for a week of camera-ready beach fun. The next day I arrived with little more than a swimsuit and a stack of books, hoping to unplug for a whole week for the first time in years.

It was with a mix of vexation and glee that I learned the Gosselins were renting the house (at $8,025 for the week) directly across from me. I had been warned during my trip over. "Kate Plus 8!" was the subject line of several emails my devoted but celebrity-ignorant dad sent me, along with wildly distant photos of the sextuplets on the beach. My mom, who recognized the Gosselins only from reading my work, filled my voicemail with tales of Kate jogging at 7 a.m., Kate standing with her hands on her hips while her kids played with the camera crew, the piles of new pink and green beach toys and towels stacked in their packaging on their porch. It was a lot of excitement for an island where the biggest disruptions are intimate beach weddings, allowed only in off-season.

Bald Head Island is an isolated community filled with maritime forest preserve and lavish houses painted in muted colors. It's the same place John Edwards was once reported to be eying an estate for himself and Rielle Hunter (the listing is still on the market, much to the relief of homeowners who came for the quiet and privacy). It's also where Kate Gosselin took the kids last summer just before she and Jon announced their divorce.

The only way to reach the island is by ferry, and golf carts are the only way to get around once you're there. I've visited my family's Bald Head home several times a year for nearly a decade. I go to clear my head of pretty much everything but how to prepare the fish each night. I do not go to think about whether and why I care about the Gosselins.

But I had little choice as their vacation, and mine, began with a photo op. I was sitting on the beach when they all paraded out of our shared beach access walkway with a camera crew, two bodyguards and a couple of boom guys. First came Cara and Mady, followed by their six younger siblings, the girls in pink polka dot two-pieces and the boys in Hawaiian print trunks. Finally Kate, in a sensible pink and white bikini, appeared. Blonde weave blowing straight behind her and one hand planted just below her waist, she smiled at the cameras. When the family reached the ocean they were directed to turn right around and head back to the house. One of the boys hung back, looking longingly at the water. His mom hadn't noticed, but eventually one of the crew ran back and whisked him into line.

The next day, the crew and sextuplets were out, but no Kate. The kids played in the ocean and fought for the attention of a young camera guy who patiently played a few dozen games of rock, paper, scissors. All were having fun until an argument over a granola bar led Alexis to spit on one of her brothers. "Alexis Faith!" the babysitter yelled, and the kids were soon assembled into a line to march back inside.
Wednesday finally brought an off-camera beach outing. Kate had swapped the modest two-piece she'd had on for filming for a nude-colored sparkly string bikini. The only other adult present, a middle-aged, athletic man with a full head of gray hair, sat very close to her. "Steve, Steve!" the kids called as he splashed them from a bucket of water. I later identified him as Steve Neild, a longtime bodyguard and travel companion who is married and was rumored to have served as Kate's boob job consultant last year.

A friend of mine sent me a link to that website (MTM is talking about). I only read there that one time. I think Ann may be the web site owner?. I did not believe it was Kate's Mom either. I considered posting as Jon's Mom. lol. I actually have a son named John...so, I would not be lying.

Last Thanksgiving, wasn't there some info about Kate leaving her house to go visit her Mom? I thought that was weird because Kate did not take any of the kids to visit and why not?

Also, did anyone watch TMZ last night? They talked about Kate making $250,000 a episode and that Kate is the 8th highest paid woman on tv. I know TMZ is a kind of tabloid tv show, but, I have also heard that the show is Harvey Levin's " baby" and that because he is a lawyer he has stories checked, double checked and triple checked before he lets it go on the air. Harvey was shocked.

"One condition," she told me. "You can't post this on Facebook or anything. We're anonymous here and we'd like to stay that way." I nodded, wondering how she equated anonymity with bringing a large crew to film her family vacation. Kate struck a red-carpet pose, hand on hip, facing into the wind ("My hair blows back this way," she explained), and we awkwardly embraced as Steve fumbled with my iPhone.

The next day it was back to work. The kids were forced to fly large, expensive-looking kites for the cameras even though the wind was blowing more than 20 miles per hour, too fast for small boats to go out. Not a single kite made it into the air as the crew and babysitter struggled with the kids' kites for more than an hour while Kate adjusted her black sundress. For this she earns a reported $250,000 per episode, more than twice what Jon Hamm makes for each hour of 'Mad Men.'

Five days into the Gosselins' trip, a celebrity photo agency had finally learned of their whereabouts and sent a paparazzo to the beach. He sparred with both beachgoers and 'Kate Plus 8' crew, but INF captured the kite-flying misadventure here.

The crew and entourage had swelled to about 15, and homeowners were starting to vent as they gathered to watch the reality circus that had taken over their beach and blocked their beach access.

"She is not a classy person," said a woman who had seen Kate, the kids and cameras invade the Bald Head Island Club pool the day before. "Just talking on her phone, ignoring her kids. And that tattoo!"

Someone called the police, who were eager to respond to something other than a speeding golf cart. The complaint was that the crew had trodden upon the protected sand dunes--an offense that carries a $300 fine--and that was as good a reason as any to get them off the beach. A camerawoman who had been shooting from a dune blamed the children, and a burly director type rushed over to establish himself as the go-to police liaison.

On Friday the family stayed in, and that night a newly chastened Steve circled the house several times looking for paparazzi before allowing everyone out for a sunset stroll. From my porch I watched Kate, Steve and the kids walk down the beach access and start flying a kite. The wind had finally died down and the sky blushed pink. Then a confrontation erupted between Steve and a paparazzo who had been laying curled in the sand. I would have felt bad had they embraced this sort of limelight hating earlier in the week.

There were moments that resembled a normal summer vacation--the twins shucking corn on the porch before dinner, Aaden in his glasses standing spellbound at the edge of the ocean, Kate running up to the house to get snacks and juice boxes for her kids. Maybe there will be more of these if they leave the cameras behind next year.

The day of the kite flying fiasco, two old ladies in one-piece swimsuits stopped to take in the scene. They asked me what everyone was looking at and I told them a big family was filming a reality series.

"What happens in the show?" one of them asked.
"Pretty much this," I gestured at the crew coaxing the tired, bored kids to play, Kate standing over them pointing her fingers and fixing her hair.

"I thought 'Seinfeld' was the show about nothing!" the other woman snorted, and they continued their walk down the beach.

There is an interesting story in the Huffington Post about her and the kids vacationing there. I am hoping that you can cut and paste on this blog. A must read for sure.

Oh I see someone already posted it, never mind =). It is very telling what its really like to be filming and that she doesn't even notice her kids half the time. Now I don't like Jon so much, but if he was caught on the phone chatting it up at the pool the whole time, her sheeple would be ripping him apart.

I would love to see the pics of her in that string bikini. All sparkly and with all her necklaces on. Who was she trying to impress but Steve!!! And I can't believe that everyone who he bullys winds up doing what he says to do. I would not erase anything and if he touched me I would call the cops. They really are a pair.

Sorry, I missed copying this part from the middle of the story:

"I took a couple pictures with my phone and ended up catching Steve's attention. He jogged over to my beach chair and asked in a stern British accent, "Would you mind not taking pictures of the children?" I didn't point out I was more interested in snapping him and Kate touching legs. I agreed, and firmly, protectively, he said, "Erase those, now." I knew he had no legal basis, but allowed him to bully me because I had already saved the halfway decent ones and I did not want to become his enemy with several days left in the week. In exchange, Steve asked if I would like a picture with Kate. It seemed like a routine offer meant to disarm citizen paparazzi.
"Sure," I said, and we strolled over to Kate, who was staring into space, apparently unaware of the exchange. "I'm a big fan of the show," I told her. I have never seen an episode of the show, but it seemed like the least sinister motivation to offer. Steve asked Kate to pose.
"Come now, get up!" he said.
"In a bikini?" she whined. Her skin was a deep orange, her stomach dimpled by a pair of scars (tummy tuck and c-section, I guessed), her long nails perfectly French manicured. She wore dangly silver earrings and multiple necklaces. She pulled on a long white cover-up, ignoring Steve's repeated assurances that she looked "fantastic" in her bikini."

That article by Katy Hall made me laugh out loud. $8,025 a week!?!?!?!? How in the world can ANY average single mom relate to this woman? And, being an A to small B cup, I want her "special" bra/bikini/boob job!!! I can't stand lying bitches that expect a free ride.

A missing portion from IATK's post--by the way, thanks, IATK! This was great.

This part should go between Part 1 and Part 2:

This story lends a lot of credence to that other older story about Steve asking the lady ( at a museum?) to delete her pics of Kate and kids.

Yes, it was reported to have happened at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. I'd love to have a run-in with him about deleting my photos, and would hope that the paps would be there to record every minute of it!

Isn't that what they usually pay for a week's vacation? You figure that when they travel, they stay in luxury suites. Wasn't
their suite in Hawaii something like $2,000 a night? If they stayed a week, that would have been $14,000. So they actually economized on this trip!

Of course, Kate doesn't pay for a cent of it!

Continued from previous post...

This is a great read!
I especially enjoyed the parts about Kate and Steve on the beach.
How can people deny this affair that has been shoved in our faces and Jon's all this time.
I'd like to know if Steve is divorced yet !

Tennis camp, swimming lessons, art lessons,
hanging out at our lake cabin (one house, one lake cabin -- for a hellofalot less than the Orphanage), scout camps, water skiing, horseback riding, fishing, river rafting, exploring, etc., etc.
Yep, it was fun indeed! And I don't have TLC's record of it either.

"This is the summer for the Gosselin children. What did your children do?"
______________________

Went to camp for two weeks in the Poconos; went to Bible School, finished their horseback riding lessons, hung out in the pool, built forts in the back yard, had many, many sleepovers and tenting outside with their friends, sold lemonade at a community fund-raising event (didn't get fined for having operating a restaurant without a license), went to the beach for five days (twice), did volunteer yard work for a habitat organization, took pets to a retirement community on rainy days...and so much more!

Oh, and came home with grass-stained shorts, mulch in their sneakers, runny noses, and orange creamsicles spilled on their shirts.
It was wonderful! I'm exhausted, but they enjoyed every minute of it, as did I...just listening to the day's events over meals of corn on the cob, strawberry shortcakes, and ham and green beans!

Have you guys seen the Extra interview about her finding a man??? she threatens the kids to marry a huge 6'4" state cop that will yell and scream at them... what a wonderful mother she is.... my daughter said it is so ridiculous and she is 10... sad when my 5 th grader has more wisdom that Kate Gosselin.

This is ridiculous. Those poor children.

A Pink Straight Jacket For Kat said...

She's a bully... I hate to admit this, because I don't like her taste in clothing- but the coverup she is wearing looks pretty. Definitely for the beach or pool. NO WHERE ELSE KATE, o.k.?!!

Oh pleeease...

fidosmommy said...

WHAT? They're filming and the kids aren't all dressed the same? Wow, some nanny is going to
pay dearly for THAT!

Or maybe somebody reads these blogs and sees the
validity of the gripes about making them look like a set of teacups.

"Kate says the kids weren't obeying the other day so she told them she'd marry a 6ft 4 inch state cop who'll yell at them "Go to your room" and the kids said "no mommy".

Yeah Kate...what the kids need is someone to yell at them MORE....ughhh, clueless!!!"

Where is this reported? Her yelling at the kids?
