Boy, TLC, Kate and Figure 8 don't waste any time on product placement now do they?

Kelly said...

Admin,
Posting PLW and the pics of the kids wearing this stuff only fuels the flames and the desire for others to give freebies for product placement, either here or on television. Boycott the companies that contribute to the product placement and others won't contribute.

Just my humble opinion.

Kelly, *waves
While I agree with you, I can't imagine anyone that frequents this blog out of concern for the Gosselin children is going to run to that site and by shirts from them. If anything they will know another sponsor to write.

Kelly,
I would love to tell PLW exactly what I think of their promotion of child exploitation, but have been unable to find an address. Any suggestions?

Anonymous said...

I posted on the PLW site asking if the Gosselin children had received payment for this product placement. I don't expect my comment to get beyond the moderators, but at least the question was asked.

Kelly said...

Susan,
Don't even bother responding to PLW. Any response is a hit on the product placement chart and they would love it. They would see it as their product placement is out there and that's all they want. They didn't have to pay an agency for a media buy, they just donated and hoped that the camera would capture it.

Don't write them, mention them, think about them anymore than you would dream about Jon Gosselin showing up at your front door with a few shooters on his breath, his belly hanging out from under his worn out Ed Hardy T-Shirt pleading with you to let him in so he can talk about "The Kids".

I am of the mind that ignoring, rather than giving her negative attention is the best thing to do in this case.

BTW gang, as an aside and not to diminish the conversation her tonight, I just thought I'd lighten it up with this post to remind you that in Baltimore MD, tomorrow, we're hosting the Preakness Stakes, the second crown of the triple crown.

I'm not a gambling man and have probably bought a handful of Powerball tickets but have never bet on a horse. I don't gamble. Anyway, I thought I'd ratchet it up tomorrow so I went to Pimlico Race Track this morning to make an early bet on tomorrows Preakness race.

I just picked three horses to win, put 5 bucks on each horse, picked up three tickets and when my girlfriend comes over for dinner tomorrow night, before the race, I'm putting the three tickets in a hat and she and my youngest son will pick the ticket from the hat. Your's truely will get the last ticket. Hoping one of us wins.

My picks were:

1. Paddy O Prado
2. Super Saver
3. Lookin at Lucky.

I hope one of us wins, just so I can get my money back. First time I've ever made a bet on the Pony's but looking forward to cooking out and watching the Preakness Race tomorrow.

PLW - Commented on the Gosselin photo album that's it not abt. Kate but the kids. "We love the kids!" Yep. Bet you do. They're making you $ and working for free.

Kelly - Have a great day tomorrow! Hope one of you win!

fade2black said...

Thanks, nanb!

I decided to forego the brain-bleach, the bleach might be on sale but I didn't have a coo-pon...besides, I was afraid I might start baa-ing.

I'm pulling for Paddy O Prado!

Ha. Kate's not doing PLW any favors. The freebie shirt looks lousy on her. And what's written on the back? ★★FameHo★★ ?

Should we boycott JC Penney, Sears, Walmart, Target, etc., too, for using children to "model" their clothes? Do we know that those children are being paid a good wage and that it is being saved for them?

Anonymous said...

Actually, child models fall under almost all child labor laws, so we can be fairly confident they are reasonably protected. Many laws even specifically mention modeling. These were just paparazzi photos they posted up for their own gain. Therefore, guess they could excuse not paying the kids because they never came into the studio. Hey, at least they got a free overpriced tshirt!

Anyone and everyone who has "employed" the Gosselin children seem to think because it's reality or a documentary, laws don't apply. And especially that they don't have to pay them.

Sick of Kart and Jons Krap said...

Kart is not dressing all the kids and herself in PWL clothing if there's noting in it for her by way of either freebies or cash compensation. Doing something just for the sake of doing it (taking her kids out, or on vacations, or what she dresses those kids in) isn't how she operates. Everything concerning her has a price tag including her 8 kids childhood.

The only time she's going to pay is years from now when those kids realize how she sold their childhood. She will pay dearly.

Gosselin and her eight children were in Orlando — think theme parks — to shoot the first ”Kate + 8″ special, which will debut at 9 p.m. June 6 on TLC.

That program shouldn’t be confused with her new series, “Twist of Kate.” Or with her recent stint on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” which concludes its season May 25. Gosselin and all the other ejected competitors are scheduled to return for the finale.

“Kate + 8″ carries on the story of “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” the popular TLC series that ended with the breakup of the parents’ marriage.

Here’s the TLC synopsis for the first “Kate + 8″: “Another year has flown by for Kate and her adorable kids. The little ones are turning 6, and Kate’s planning a special birthday filled with exciting celebrations. But shhh, it’s a surprise! For the first time, Kate faces planning and feeding all 8 kids on her own. Will she be able to keep it a surprise or will she crack under the pressure of single-motherhood? And how will the kids react when Kate reveals the surprise?”

We presume that Kate didn’t crack. And if she ever does, that development will be saved for a very special “Kate + 8.”

Maybe PLW gave the shirts to TLC, most likely for product placement- much the same as the gum, etc. on The Biggest Loser. Then after the episode filmed, Kate and kids were allowed to keep them.

At the PLW facebook page there are several of the DWTS contestants in candid shots wearing the T-shirts. I'm guessing PLW sent them to DWTS for distribution, but that's a guess.

PLW's facebook page also gleefully shows pics of Kate picking up the PLW boxes at UPS or whichever delivery store she uses and loading them into her freebie-mobile, so she probably was introduced to PLW at DWTS then finagled a deal for the kiddies, too.

Sick of Kart and Jons Krap said...

There is a pic of her on the PLW Facebook of her picking up a large box from PWL at the PO. The pic shows the box falling off the dolly. Their caption is

"I wonder how loud the crash was. Inside are 10 of our tin lunch boxes stuffed with hoodies for the kids! Good thing they got them in time for their birthday!"

So they were sent directly to her. Wonder who the extra 2 are for, Jamie's, kids?

==============================================

Things have not changed folks. Don't you remember Leah's infamous melted ice cream cone incident at Disneyworld where Kate screams "she's ruined!!!" ???

You know at the time I couldn't figure out what the big deal is since there are souvenir Disney T shirts sold everywhere in the park, so what if the tup was not matchy matchy to her sisters? Kate could have purchased 3 shirts and the problem would be solved, right?

Whereas Leah's ice cream cone melting scene was not scripted and we all saw how Kate failed as a mother to bring backup clothes, it was not until later that I realized that if her kids are used as billboards the clothing must be provided free or else there is no advertising.

MickeyMcKean said...

Speaking of T shirts, today on another blog I learned that the red T shirt Jon wore at the tup's 5th birthday party was from Hailey's school.

Not only that, but that the loverz believe that if Kate is as bad the haterz say, Kate would have gone bullistic on Jon advertising his gf's school, filmed birthday party or not. (I believe she got even with him, just not on camera)

Here's my 2 cents: there may have been a time when Ed Hardy may have liked Jon to be seen in his shirts but definitely not now after all that has happened in the last year.

That being said, I can't see Kate being given free clothes to advertise these days either unless she dresses like her kids in sweatshirts.

No, it comes down to that the kids are the walking billboards to be used and abused just for the free clothes on their backs. Unfortunately clothes do not pay for college tuitions.

"I'm sure her and Jon would want/use a tin lunchbox."

But of course they do! It is afterall something that they both could use when they go back to real jobs in the real world.

Something that they both could look at during their lunch break and remember "the good ol' days when the kids had to work to support our family"
