First episode of Kate Plus 8

TLC: “Another year has flown by for Kate and her adorable kids. The little ones are turning 6, and Kate’s planning a special birthday filled with exciting celebrations. But shhh, it’s a surprise! For the first time, Kate faces planning and feeding all 8 kids on her own. Will she be able to keep it a surprise or will she crack under the pressure of single-motherhood? And how will the kids react when Kate reveals the surprise?”

On her own? We've seen paparazzi photos of Steve, Gina, friends, nannies, and various others all there to help with the party.

I like how TLC calls the kids little ones, trying to keep them as small and little as they can for as long as possible.

Kelly said...

They also always refer to the kids as "Her adorable brood"

On a side note, today there was a neighborhood yard sale and as I was just browsing and talking with many of the neighbors, one of them had Kates new book on a table and a tag on top of it labeled "FREE". No one took it.

2exhausted2name said...

I especially enjoyed the utter BS of this sentence: "For the first time, Kate faces planning and feeding all 8 kids on her own."

So does that mean the 5th birthday party episode (or pretty much any post-divorce episode) lied when it said she had to do that all on her own? Or at the twins birthday in October not all 8 kids ate? Or that they've not eaten at all in the past year? Because Kate's been all over TV & magazine claiming she's doing it all on her own but if this is the first she's fed all 8 kids on her own who's been feeding them this past year?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It's just silly for TLC to try to claim for the purposes of being dramatic that Kate has not cared for these kids on her own since the divorce. Of course she has. She has had six years to practice how to streamline eight kids at once. She knows what she is doing.

She has nannies often too no doubt about it, but she is not a helpless idiot incapable of caring for her own children. There have been episodes where she did it alone, her book talks about doing it alone when Jon was at work, she's fine. Plus they are older now, just give them their little toy car and let them play. Do I think she is often alone with these kids? No. But I don't see evidence the nanny/nannies is living with them and it's absurd to try to paint this kind of picture.

Don't you think it actually makes Kate look bad to say that--like she is incapable of looking after her own children. TLC is so dumb.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Someone asked awhile back how much Kate's legal bills might be. I have no clue, but for a complicated and lengthy divorce with a great attorney billing 350 to 550 an hour, if I had to guess....somewhere in the 100,000 to 150,000 range. Kate's divorce ended up being much quicker than that, it could be far less than that, it could be more in the 40,000 range. Her divorce could have been anywhere from 20,000 to 150,000. Not millions, not billions, chump change for a woman who spends 7000 on hair extensions.

Again, an episode or two of DWTS and her legal bills are taken care of.

Isn't this what Kate has been trying to convince us she does every waking moment of every single day, every single time she gets a chance to say it to a camera? Oh, for the love of pete.......

From the picture I'd say she has lots of help.

I hope many school friends and playmates were invited - but I'm not holding my breadth.

I think TLC means that since Kate has never been responsible for the sole care of her children, that left up to volunteers, nannies and crew, wouldn't it be something if just once everyone stepped out of the picture and pretended that Kate was going it alone.. and the viewer had to join in the pretense and pretend there are not people standing by out of camera range to take over once the film is in the can. Grsndmotherly types will tune in to see how the kids have grown but otherwise, nobody is going to tune in for the Kate hour.

More spin from the TLC spin doctors to try and make Kate look like a victim.

Do they think we have been living in a box for a year. I mean really, do they think they can spin Kate to be a victim when she's had an extensive make-over and re-branding of her image.

They need to have a little respect for the viewing audience. We are not stupid and Kate Gosselin is not and never has been a victim.

Judy said...

I still find it mind boggling that there never are any photos of Kate,Steve and the nannies when they are leaving on one of these secret trips. What......do they fly out at 3:00 AM ?

Bet the kids are tired, considering they were filming for several days before their birthday trip .

How lucky for them that their mother just put another $75,000 in her bank account for all their hard work for the opening show.

Whoops, I forget to deduct 15% for the G8's work.

Thank you TLC, you are so thoughtful.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The problem with lying is eventually you can't keep your stories straight. Kate's whole mantra the past year has been I'm doing this all by myself I am a survivor. And I don't doubt she HAS been doing a lot of this on her own--Jon has often disappeared for days, weeks at a time with his sleezy GFs. You can't suddenly change the whole story and claim she's helpless and can't handle it and she is just finally now mustering up the strength to care for her own children. Gimme a break.

Does this family not see how TLC is completely manipulating them???

pa mom too said...

How ridiculous ! All Kate does is whine and complain about being a single mom, and now TLC is acting like this is the first time she had to do anything on her own. Good grief...there truly is nooooooo end to it. And I suppose TLC thinks people are stupid enough to believe Kate does it all by her itty bitty wittle self.

AuntieAnn said...

The 'surprise' was probably Kate waiting until the last minute to tell the kids they were going to have yet another birthday f*cked up by having booms and cameras in their faces. She WOULD consider that the best present of all.

Can you see it? JEN: Scene three/take ten: "Okay, kids, that wasn't a good shot, let's cut the cake again and this time try to smile."

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

What's so shameful about asking for help with your eight children anyway? As long as Kate is with them too I don't care who she has supporting her in raising them. They don't have to hide these people off camera like it's shameful. We all know they are there we have pics to prove it. It takes a village to raise a child as the saying goes and now that she and Jon aren't together she needs more support than ever. Just have good, positive people around your children. It just seems selfish and silly to try to play martyr and spin it like she has to brave through and care for them all by herself not a sole to help. No she doesn't, she's got a dozen people around helping her.

Not saying you should never be alone with your children but she can still spend lots of quality time with them if she can afford the help. She could maybe take 2 or 3 out because she is lucky to have all this help. This is how you SHOULD use help--to assist you and support you in raising them, not DO IT FOR YOU.

AuntieAnn said...

How stupid does TLC think people are anyway? Everyone knows she has help. Are they trying to make a fool out of her or out of her fans?

Anonymous said...

I'm actually embarrassed for her. Did she or her people approve their description. It makes her sound like a dolt.

fade2black said...

The fees for the divorce probably did seem astronomical to Kate, as that is one of the few things in her life she has had to actually pay for herself. 4-star hotels, 1st class travel, extensions, upkeep of the fake body, guard of the fake body...all those can be written off by TLC as business expenses. I don't see how they could have made such a claim for the divorce, so she probably had to reach into one of those deep purses and fork it over...I'm sure it was quite painful for her.

fade2black said...

Admin, if she acknowledges the nannies, would she have to pay them for being filmed or give them credit on the show? We all know Kate does not share well with others.

Mimi to 3 said...

Admin, this is the whole issue I have with Kate. Her lying. Constantly. Why not just admit she likes the money, the lifestyle that she has? What would be wrong with the truth. I think a lot of people would like her better if she just once told the truth. Admit that you have plenty of help. Admit that you like to get away by yourself, I mean really, what mother doesn't from time to time? Admit that Jon helps you. Admit that you like the good life, living in your big house on all those acres. Admit that you love having the paps follow you around taking your picture. Just for Pete's sake, admit that you are not doing it all by yourself. If she ever would stop and just think before she speaks and tell the TRUTH, most people would back off and leave her alone. But all she knows how to do is lie.

Stephanie said...

I agree that sometimes, as viewers, we hear/see mixed messages. But, I don't think we can put 100% of the blame on Kate lying. She has a team of PR people telling her what to say for interviews, and she probably often says just what they tell her to say (I'm not placing 100% of the blame on the PR people, either). And, she has admitted multiple times she has help. On one of the last episodes, she talked about how she had a couple helpers each day (a morning girl and an evening girl), because the physical process of getting 8 kids ready for school or ready for bed is tough to do alone now that Jon was gone.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Stephanie in this case I fully agree with you. I don't think this is Kate lying at all. Kate has said all along she is working her way through this. It's TLC who wrote a stupid episode recap spinning her as the victim.

Yet another reason she has no reason to trust TLC. Does she not see they are using her just as badly as she and Jon use the kids?

AuntieAnn said...

That's what I took from it. Also, when they say 'or will she crack under the pressure...' my first thought was that she had a meltdown and they have it on tape. TLC will say anything to draw viewers in.

Mama Mia- I am a "grandmotherly type" with 5 count them 5 grandchildren and I wouldn't put Kate out if she was on fire. I don't want to be stereotyped as someone who falls for all things cute and cuddly because of my age.
I'm sure you didn't mean it in that way but I had to make the point. I hope my comment didn't offend you as all of our opinions are important and we have a common cause.

Do you remember the pre-Disney trip filming? She went for a hair cut, and pleaded and begged him to come home with her because she was totally exhausted (from what...from getting a hair cut?). He stood his ground and said he was going for the van. She tried her little girl sobbing, but it didn't work. What in the heck would she have done if there were no Jon? Guess she's finding out, only now there are nannies and a myriad of helpers.

Use the same procedure as when selecting 'Anonymous'.
1. Where you see the list of choices like google account, live ID, Name/URL, anonymous -- choose name/URL rather than anonymous.
2. The box that opens, says Edit Profile --
On the line that says 'name', enter the screen-name you've chosen.

How does Betty Hayes take care of 10 children (one of whom is disabled) without nannies, laundry-folders, gardeners, cooks, pool-boys, and the like? Her husband actually WORKS and she can't depend on him during the day! Can you imagine Kate trying to take care of a child with cerebral palsy?

She has never had to look after them on her own, ever. If she has, her lies don't jive. She said had fifty helpers a week for the first year, plus a full time nurse. After she left there was Nana Janet, Beth and so many other volunteers coming to her house she said she had to turn some away. They moved around the corner from Jodi and Kevin so they could get even more help. After the kids started making money and Jon quit his job, she buggered off with Beth to spas and weekends out. She slept and talked on the phone while Beth wrote her book and while Jon and Jodi and Kevin watched the kids. She has not and never will have to take care of them all by herself. What a pile of steaming BS.

Last year Kate had PLENTY of help to set up the party. There was video of her standing on a table putting up balloons, and shots of Carla and Ashley and some men getting decorations ready. There were little gnats or something swarming and Kate was pretty unhappy about it. Mysteriously, when the episode was repeated at another time, the party decorating part disappeared, but we still saw Carla and Ashley at work.

The only thing Kate did herself was take the kids shopping at Party City to get the stuff. We saw those pictures - I think it might have been when she parked the blue van in two parking spots, but maybe not. It was also the episode when she blew off Aaden and a sister who were daring to interrupt her chicken salad while she complained to the camera that she had to do all this alone because "Jon is gone".

I wonder if Carla and Ashley are still in the loop or if they are gone.

I would not be surprised if Kate has it written in her contract with TLC that they must provide nanny care for her children 24/7. How hyprocritical of her to claim it unsafe for one adult to handle 8 children at a time and yet only schedule one nanny at a time to be with them. Lies, hypocricy, greed, narcissism - that is the Kate Gosselin story.

Livvy said...

Hi All. First time poster but every day reader. I have a question about the 15% share the children receive. From what I read, the 8 receive 15%. If there were only one child, that one would get 15% of the earnings. Seems to me that each child should get their own percentage and not paid as a group. They are individuals and should be paid accordingly. Why does Kate get 85% and the 8 only get 15%. What ever happened to "equal pay for equal work?"

I AM proud of my children and grandchildren. Is there an issue with that? The "5 count them 5" was also satirical in intent, mimicking Kate's continual statements about her 8 children. I guess from now on I will stick to easily understandable language so as not to be misinterpreted by those who don't get it.

So I expect Jon will be called upon to do something to get in the news so Kate can wipe some tears and wring her hands and comment on the situation.

My children and grandchildren will always remember the fun times that I have shared and created for them. I have never, ever, put myself before them and never will.

I don 't have a mansion or fancy cars, but I have one thing that Kate Gosselin will never have. Memories of a house filled with laughter, giggles and lots of kisses !

I am truly blessed.

Not only do they each only earn 1.87% of the gross pay, but Kate can also deduct education, medical, and insurance from their paychecks. In essence, they will be paying their way through school and covering their own medical expenses as long as they are working.

IDModo said...

Thanks everybody for the kind props. I wish for the Gosselin Kids that they could have a house filled with love and laughter. There is no substitute for loving parents - no goods, no wealth, no fame, no amount of interesting travel opportunities,no pedigreed pets, no nannies however loving they may be, will ever compensate for that.
When my kids were little we were relatively poor, and I found that it made us much more creative in ways of having fun and being together. We made crafts, went to parks and flea markets, had sleepover parties, coffee with the neighbours, and everybody on our street shared what we had if others were in need. We treated each other's kids as if they were our own.We had 3 kids, 2 dogs and a cat in a 4 room wartime house. It was a time to remember with joy.
I am so sorry that Kate and her children will never know that joy, unless she has a major breakthrough and a moment of self realization.(That means smartens up and gets off her high horse......I'm translating here ...)

disgusted in pa said...

I think that the kids should each get 1/9 of the gross pay (for the show) in their individual names--if there are 9 people on the show, why should Kate get the lion's share? It doesn't seem right. Nobody is going to tune in to see "Just Kate"--except a small handful of her most loyal fans--the draw has always been the kids.
The promo for the new show is more of the same old, same old--Kate "doing it all" --what a load of crap. If they were filming the party, then not only were there nannies there (off-camera) --there were production assistants and craft services to help with the decorating and the food.
Kate Gosselin, the Milli Vanilli of motherhood.

Jon should actually get a cut as well (and I'm sure he is, since they need his permission to film the kids). The little money-makers are half his, after all.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I guess I don't understand why one dime of the children's cut belongs to anyone but them, in any situation. Why is it okay because it's a child to just take their money? Why does it become not okay the day they turn 18, but the day before, you as the parent can take it? Split the payment ten ways. The eight children's cuts can't be touched. If the parents want to touch any money, they are welcome to dip into their own 1/10 cuts.

I started working when I was 14 years old--there are a few jobs that children this young are legally permitted to do and I found one of them. My money was mine. It always was mine. It never crossed my parents' minds to dip into it and help themselves to cover the bills. Or my mind. I worked for it, my money.

Oh yea. Carla was the lucky benefactor of Kate's kitchen cabinets after she got her new kitchen. Ashley babysat the kids over this Spring Break. She goes to Libery U in Virginia. Carla is a very kind-yet door mat kind of person. She dresses like a teenager. Every time I see a pic of Ashley she is larger than before. Think all that prayer she is being taught would help her with self-control. I think Carla and Ashley are the only 2 constant people in Kate's life. They love the kids and allow Kate to treat them poorly.

I haven't finished reading the book yet. Slogging through the book is like slogging through War and Peace, it's very boring. It's just a rehash of episodes. I've been really busy at work and I'm not sure when I'll have time to write up a recap. I will, just don't know when.

If you can't wait you'll have to buy it or see if you can get it in a library.

Anonymous said...

If you say that you will do a recap, I'll wait.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

If the kids aren't working why do they need permits, why are they only allowed to work a certain amount of hours, and why are they getting paid (at least now)? TLC wants it to be a documentary when it suits them, and yet they are taking multiple actions that show the kids ARE working.

Just goes to show that the current child labor laws did not contemplate this kind of scenerio. The intent of the law is to prevent child actors from working around alcohol where they could consume it or be around drunk people. It didn't contemplate parents taking kids out to dinner to a restaurant that is certainly not going to give a minor a glass of wine or lose their liquor license, and filming it. Certainly kids are brought into restaurants that serve alcohol every single day and it shouldn't be a problem.

They need to trash it all and start over to sufficiently address reality show situations. It's a law that really doesn't always make sense when applied to reality shows.

Last week I saw a copy of the book for the first time and I have to agree with Admin, even though I just skimmed it I found it to be very boring.

So if Admin is busy doing other things like working a real job and this blog, a recap of Kate's book is probably not high on her priority list. If you don't want to waste your money in buying a copy, please note on GWOP a poster named Rose who is doing excerpts from the book.

I agree with your post Admin. about questioning why all the money that the kids earn isn't all isn't all theirs. My first job was the summer of 6th grade -- my BFF and I ran a morning play camp for pre schoolers in the neighborhood. We had so many kids that wanted to sign up that we had to run an early afternoon group as well. All the money that I made was all mine. I spent some of that money buying a ticket to see the Beatles on their 1st American Tour!

When I was 15 I began working as a junior lifeguard at our municipal pool and continued working summers there until college. I actually made a lot of my own money during those summers at the pool. I can't imagine how I would have felt if I my parents wanted to take the lions share of my hard earned wages. It makes no sense that these kids are getting so entirely ripped off.

NancyB said...

I too agree with administrator + MM about the book sooooooo boring. I am a voracious reader and ususally a fast reader. Not with this book, I have renewed it now 3 times from the library--the only reason that I was able to do that is because there is --you guessed it--no waiting list!

MickeyMcKean said...

Rose has posted a paragraph or two. One paragraph in particular has started a debate on GWOP - in a nutshell Kate heard about a family having financial problems from her sister and after thinking about helping this family for a few days, on Christmas Eve Kate decided God wanted her to send money to help this family. However, when Kate went to her mailbox to mail her check she found someone had put a gift card in her mailbox for the same amount.

In my humble opinion - and now that I know how many families have helped the Gosselins over the years in the past - Kate should have sent her check AND the gift card to this struggling family but instead Kate stated she feels that God wanted her to help this family but at the same time not have her own family do without.

To see Kate make such a big deal about helping just ONE family at Christmastime - and to put that evidence in her latest book! - is IMO just another nail on her TV career coffin.

Kate's new book has tanked, her time on DWTS backfired big time because it certainly did not create a new fan base for her, Kate has shown the world that she can't host anything because if it is not about her she has nothing important to say, and last but not least, her kids are growing up and not as adorable as before.

Yes that's right folks, there is no doubt in my mind that the days of Kate being on my TV are numbered! 'Bout time since I'm tired of All Things Gosselin.

As for all of the money the kids are earning but getting very little of, if Kate is legally allowed to use their money for schooling and medical expenses, she will use every nickel of it. She is not going to use her share, you can count on that. I'm sure she views their money as "mine, all mine" the same way she views the house and property.

That's the problem in PA. The state has Child Labor laws, but doesn't directly address the issue of reality television. They are not going to trash the Child Labor laws as they exist now, but new laws have to be written that apply to children on reality television. That's where the current laws fall short. That's why Paul Petersen was here. Laws need to be written regarding minors on reality shows, and he's been called upon to give his advice and suggestions.

Count me another 'jelus' Beatle fanatic. My very first concert was George Harrison in 1974. My last concert was Paul McCartney in 2007. I think I've told you this before but I don't care because the Beatles cheer up any thread.

Imagine all the people, living life in Peace.

NancyB said...

Itsaboutthekids & TV Snark,

You had to send in postcards to WIXY Radio and if your postcard was pulled in the drawing your name was announced on the radio over a weekend. (for each name 2 tickets) You were then allowed to buy tickets for the concert. This was 1964 and way before Ticketmaster. I guess they did that because they knew that the demand would be so much greater than the seat capacity.

I remember that my Dad went downtown on his lunch hour to pick up my tickets because I was in school. The concert was Sept. 15th, a school night. It was a HUGE deal that my folks let me go. It was my 1st concert and totally amazing. Our seats were very close to the stage, so we could hear the details of their performance very well. The on-stage amplification at the time was very modest compared to modern-day equipment, and the band's small Vox amplifiers struggled to compete with the volume of sound generated by all the screaming fans. I remember that when my Dad picked us up we were both crying (Beatlemania) and my Dad at first thought that something was wrong...hahaha He defintely thought that we were nuts when we told him we were crying because we loved them. I will always be a huge Beatles fan!

Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout ... would not take the garbage out ...

Remember that poem by Shel Silverstein? “Where the Sidewalk Ends” is an old book but a new favorite of ours. Recently, I was at a book signing for my book and had promised to pick up a book for Mady and Cara. (We have a rule in our house: Mommy will always spend money on books!) While in the children's section, I happened across this old favorite that we already own (somewhere!) and laughed out loud numerous times while perusing the many nonsensical poems.

Then a thought hit me: I'll purchase it and place it on the kitchen counter with a note that says, “Read to the kids every day,” figuring I'd add some humor to our sometimes loud and unavoidably stressful days!

One night as I was heading up to tuck my six youngest monkeys into bed, I grabbed the book and announced that I was going to read two poems to each of the boys followed by two to the girls before lights out. And an instant tradition materialized!

Every night, at bedtime, giggles fill the air as we all laugh incessantly at Little Peggy Ann McKay and her imaginary array of illnesses to avoid going to school, and the personal account of what it must feel like to be eaten by a boa constrictor.

My personal favorites, though, are exaggerations of real-life situations -- ones that show us what will happen if Cara and Mady refuse to take the garbage out like Sarah Stout. Or like Hector the Collector who collects everything ... that could be us if we never cleaned up our clutter!

It's extra fun when I hear my little kids “reciting” the poems throughout the day -- makes me smile every time! Hmmm, maybe I'll borrow the corny poetry method to teach my kids the important things in life ... think it'll work????

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Let me get this straight. They already own this book. But because it's "somewhere" in the house, instead of spending a few minutes looking for it, Kate just buys a new one? I thought she needed to work to feed her kids.

Way to teach kids to value their things, take care of their things, and if you can't find something, just get another. Can't Kate go home and FIND the book they already have? Do they have a bookshelf where books are supposed to go?

She doesn't realize how she (the ghostwriter) comes across in these blogs--like a spoiled rich girl. That said, I do hope she is reading to the kids. Kids just want you to tuck them in at night and laugh over a book--that's all. Not Florida, not Discovery Cove, not an electric car. Just mom tucking them in.

Kate didn't write that. There are some words in it that I would be surprised if she even knew, let alone used correctly. Some had several syllables.
Inagine having to leave a note to yourself to remember to read to your kids! The only time I ever saw a collective stab at literacy in that whole series was whan they were reading about Desperaux, which was a product placement at the time. I never saw any books lying around. Mady was shown reading in a chair once.
And of course Kate had to mention her book signings. Probably the only times she was ever in a bookstore.
Does TLC not know how much stupider they are making her appear by publishing this drivel? And of course the Sheeple are eating it up.
I would be happy to be wrong about this and to find out that Kate actually reads to her kids.

NancyB said...

The following is an excerpt from an open letter to Kate that was written by Alyssa Martina almost exactly a year ago. I think that it is one of the finest reviews ever done of Kate's presentations at various shows.

The Lesson of Giving
Before your children, you characterized yourself as being self-absorbed. You indicated you were never one to look beyond the needs of your own family or yourself and help others. With so many people helping you during that first year after the birth of your multiples, you began to appreciate the importance of giving to and sharing with those who had less.
However, I found your comments about giving and generosity a little self-serving. I was a little put off by your insight that when you give, you are rewarded in turn. In theory, I support this notion, but the rewards can be far less material than you suggested, Kate. You explained how when you give, you almost always get something tangible back in return, confirming to you that your gift was the right thing to do.
To be honest, your story of writing a check to a nearby family who had some major struggles in their life only to receive, almost serendipitously, an anonymous gift card for the exact amount was disheartening to me.
I'd like to believe that the spirit of giving inherently suggests you won't necessarily get back anything in return. That's the whole point of generosity -- giving for the sake of giving. What you get back is the intrinsic satisfaction of helping others. Still, the Lesson of Giving is an important one for all parents. True generosity springs from compassion. As the Dalai Lama once said, "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive."

So I guess Kart chose not to "hear" and integrate this supremely talented and successful certified parenting coach's fine advice. And she even chose to include it in her book! That is very embarrassing for her to again showcase just how shallow she really is, IMO. C'est la vie!

These children are already behind their peers and need everyday of education and socialization they can get. It is only weeks before the "premiere" on June 6th so it is reasonable to assume that they will be missing quite a bit of school to meet the filming schedule. This is just not right!!!!

Kate Gosselin's 'DWTS' Return a Gift and a Curse?
By Rob Shuter Posted May 17th 2010 08:02AM

Kate Gosselin might be excited about her return to the 'Dancing With the Stars' finale on May 24 and 25, however, other cast members are not so thrilled.

Insiders, who know the ropes behind the hit competition, tell me that while Kate's return will likely bring in monster ratings, it is also bringing sneers and jeers from other competitors, who didn't exactly get along swimmingly with the octomom.

"Everyone, especially Kate's old dancing partner Tony, are dreading the return of Gosselin to the dance floor," one insider told me. "Kate comes with a lot of drama. She's the only celebrity who insisted on having a bodyguard with her at all times and put the costume department through hell each week. She tortured Tony and you don't even want to know what she put the show's hairdressers through! The day Kate was voted off, everyone was celebrating backstage. It's been a lot less toxic without her."

However, one group that is looking forward to Kate returning is the bigwigs at ABC, who only care about that Kate is ratings gold.

"Since Kate left the show, ratings plummeted to the lowest performance of the season. Down a full 17 percent just two weeks after Kate was ousted," an ABC executive tells me. "You have to remember that at the end of the day, ABC cares about ratings -- not transforming Kate Gosselin into Miss Congeniality."

I'm not sure if it's good Kate or bad Kate that's going to show up next week, but I can tell you this -- no matter which Kate it is, we are ALL going to be watching.

IMO her days of writing books are over. The first book was written primarily by Beth, Kate took ALL credit. Book #2 was what, a bunch of photos and scriptures that one can read in 10 minutes. Book #3 was a cookbook that was sent overseas and of course book #4 tanked big time.

So why would any publisher take a risk on her after her last 2 books?

So far, she isn't doing any voices in animated movies, but don't hold your breath. David Hasselhoff and anyone who even remotely resembles him, has taken off and ran for the hills...just in case she still has her sights set on a "hottie" like him. ;) hmmm, what else is there that Katie has talked about wanting ? ok...another baby but let's hope she has amnesia and forgot about that one.

The last day of school is June 3. Nothing much happens between now and then, just the end-of-the-year activities, field trips, picnics, social events, etc. If this were the middle of the school year, taking them out for any extended period of time would not be advisable. That said, I would agree that these kids should not be taken out of school at all for filming.

After finding out that Twisted Kate is now blogging about reading to the kids, I am convinced her "people" are reading these blogs daily. I would be surprised if she spent ANY quality time with them, much less, any one on one time.

I bet their language skills are below average, especially the boys. For children to develop good grammar and vocabulary, they NEED one on one time with an adult.

I can see the "young nannies" being more interested in conversing and gossiping among themselves than teaching the children any life skills. Their value to TwKate is more about how they cater to Kate, not how they care for children.

As for Twisted Kate being unable to teach her kids anything about conflict resolution, the children are living a measure of Lord of the Flies. All she knows is punishment.

About the only thing TKate could teach them is how is be insecure, demanding, selfish, rude and self-absorbed.

And I seriously question her honestly on the reason she for artifical insemination. I am convinced she had a plan all along. Being the middle child, she herself claimed she lack attention growing up, and being a nurse, she realized all the attention mothers of multiples get. This was her ticket to feeling "special". Her ticket to solicit the "attention" she claims she never had, but with total disregard for the "health" of her children.

I also remember seeing videos where Jon was "instructed" to video tape Kate before she was pregnant. Probably even before they were married. She has been seeking fame a long long time.

Sounds like an illness to me. One I fear to identify...

Around here, school gets out the same week as the Gosselin's school. Elementary teachers are gearing up for standardized testing (all grades), meetings with parents, and in grades
3-5 the students have final reports to finish, and are starting a new book to review. This is hardly wasted time at the end of the school year! No time for vacations, outings or other leisure activities. School does not end until June! They keep working until about 2 days before the last day, THEN they have assemblies, game days, parades and lunches brought in from a restaurant so they can transition from school mode to summer mode.

"Kate Gosselin -- Bogged Down with Her Kids"

Kate Gosselin managed to keep her family's career afloat last week -- by taking the kiddies on a birthday trip right out of the Bindi Irwin playbook.

Gosselin and the kids went down to Kissimmee, Florida where, we're told, they hooked up with Boggy Creek Airboat Rides for a private tour.

Sources say the family was taken to a secluded area where Kate threw a birthday bash for the kids complete with pinatas -- and TLC was there to film the whole thing ... naturally.

Talk about upstaging Daddy's birthday party for the kids.

How many birthday celebrations do the sextuplets need? I worry for the sextuplets in the future...as this will be hard to top and exceed future birthday expectations. Will they understand this was all down for the show, not out of the goodness of their parent's heart?

It's rather disheartening to see how much they spoil the sextuplets with all these extravagant birthday celebrations. What about the twins? They deserve just as much attention as their siblings. I really enjoyed the episode when the twins turned six and went to American Girl. I thought the parents really wanted to do something special for their daughters, especially since the girls were actually INTERESTED in American Girl. That birthday celebration was for them, not the cameras...or so I thought.

Was this Florida trip even planned with the sextuplet's interests in mind...did they actually ask their parents if they could go to Walt Disney World, Discovery Cove, and now on Boggy Creek air rides?

How stupid does TLC think people are anyway? Everyone knows she has help. Are they trying to make a fool out of her or out of her fans?

I think TLC means that since Kate has never been responsible for the sole care of her children, that left up to volunteers, nannies and crew, wouldn't it be something if just once everyone stepped out of the picture and pretended that Kate was going it alone.. and the viewer had to join in the pretense and pretend there are not people standing by out of camera range to take over once the film is in the can. Grsndmotherly types will tune in to see how the kids have grown but otherwise, nobody is going to tune in for the Kate hour.

I like how TLC calls the kids little ones, trying to keep them as small and little as they can for as long as possible.
