The children should be out of the spotlight

When Jon and Kate signed up to exploit their children's private moments when they were one year old, they exposed them to vicious and damaging tabloid rumors five years down the line.

Sadly, a very private and personal tabloid rumor is now being reported about two of the children. Whether this rumor is true is irrelevant to the fact that this is a consequence of throwing your children into the world of fame and celebrity, and then refusing to take them out. Who is to blame for what is allegedly going on with these kids is irrelevant to the fact that if not for their fame and exposure, no one but close family and friends would ever know about this. Even if not true, isn't this alone enough for Kate now to realize they should be pulled out of this lifestyle? When will it not be worth it to her anymore? What needs to happen to get through to her?

I assume they had already been expelled when the filming of the corn maze took place, so obviously nothing's changed in Kate/TLC's eyes.

Jon needs a good lawyer and to man up. Having your photo taken and being laughed at in the Taco Bell drive thru should be the least of his worries.

Talk about two people who are/were far to selfish to undertake parenting.

Talking about the school issue on ANY blog should not be allowed. Anti and pro Kate blogs. And yes the kids should be off tv.

It's time for whatever Department is responsible for the welfare of children to take another look at this family. Private schools are strict but, from what I have read, even assigning monitors to the children has not improved their behavior. These children need therapy. Jon, who has in the past, been the main caregiver should be allowed to move into the house. I've heard that both Jon and Kate say it is the "kids' house". They should be allowed to say who they want in the house - and Kate should move to L.A. to persue a new life (career?????)

These two parents have such a sense of entitlement that their judgment (if they have any) is truly messed up. Kate G. appears to be worse than Jon at this time, but neither one get a pass on parenting skills. Kate gives the vibe that she is a "know it all." Jon seems to have been passive during the marriage. The whole story went to "pot" when he quit his good paying job with the State of PA (which he was handed on a silver platter). This story will not end well and I feel sorry for the children whose lives and very private moments have been on display for 5 years. Money cannot buy back their overexposed early years. The parents and TLC should be ashamed. Eric Roberts did make a serious point in his recent interview. He did mention that this large family needs to be financially supported. It's called "parents need to get full-time jobs and downsize the lifestyle."

As bad as this sounds, the only thing Kate is feeling right now is embarassment. I think she's much too self absorbed and in such deep denial, that she's not capable of having empathy for her own flesh and blood. I shudder to think of the things going on that we don't know about. Let's hope Jon remains committed to securing a private life for the kids.

I'm surprised that the sheeple aren't putting the blame on the school. Wait...maybe that will happen before the day's end.

Does Radar Online have the story or some other tabloid? I know Werny Gal confirmed the story as true in a new post on her blog. Very sad.

What needs to happen to get through to her?

First of all, Jon needs to have the courage and selflessness to ADMIT THE TRUTH, his truth, too, to someone who's in a position to finally rescue his children. Whether that person is a social worker, therapist, family doctor, or an attorney who specializes in children's issues, it does not matter. What's been missing all along as we've shouted " Why doesn't anyone have the power or the balls to stand up to Hate?" has been Jon's TRUTH. I really think he hasn't blown the whistle on Hate because she's convinced him that she has something so damaging to him, so threatening that he not only would be "ruined" as a father, but also his "future" in television or any job for that matter, would forever be destroyed.
We all saw the "Walk in the Woods" episode; that was definitely a window into Jon's behavior toward his kids when he was under immense pressure from TLC and tremendous stress caused by Hate and Purse-Boy. I was shocked watching that show, that Jon was unable to keep it together for 23 phony minutes of taping. I'll never forget one of the kids cowaring, flinching, and DUCKING just because he simply moved! It was heartbreaking. But it was also pretty understandable and certainly FIXABLE.

I think Jon has some secrets that are "making him sick" to death. However, IF he would TELL them to someone who is a professional and who he can TRUST, then and only then, can the children AND Jon begin to live a normal happy life.

Otherwise, each one of them will be forever STUCK where they are right now: stifled, stunted, arrested in their development. Even Jon. There's too much at stake for Jon to continue to be afraid and selfish in continuing to only protect himself and whatever regrets he has. He continues to make himself and his children SICK.

I am not a hater. I posted here first, several weeks ago. It was here that I learned there were other sites. Sites that were not pro Kate, but still had intelligent and thoughtful comments. I eventually came to realize that I was more in their camp than pro-Kate. But, I, like many of the posters there am NOT a hater. We are just old enough or experienced enough to realize there are some serious flaws in the child rearing of a TV network and a mom who wants a career with celebrity. I think that you ladies seem friendly and family oriented. I enjoy reading your posts. But, if this recent report of the expulsion of two young children is true -- IF -- then the red flags of trouble need to be recognized. I feel sad for the children and I feel sad for Kate. She is undoubtedly doing her "best" -- but she needs to have the humility to listen to those who might be able to give her advice on how to restructure her life. She is showing signs of unraveling (In my opinion.) The sexual way of dressing, the over-reactions with screaching, the attention seeking behavior -- all of this and more that does not need mentioning -- are signals that she needs help. You are her supporters. We all care about children who can't control their lives. Let's pull together instead of insulting each other.

I think that it would be very wise for Jon & Kate to pull their children from being on t.v.
right now. If Kate wants to continue with being on t.v., that's her business. BUT leave the Gosselin 8 out of it- before it's too late.

This whole disaster reminds me of a scene in "The Devil's Advocate", where the devil exclaims:

"Vanity, definitely my favorite sin".

Advice for the sheeple:

Become a part of the solution, not a part of the problem...

Expelled from KINDERGARTEN. How sad. Hopefully Katen wasn't home with the kids alone after that news. I'm sure she went ballistic.

How the sheeple can STILL say that she is a great mom, doing the best she can and that the show does NO HARM, is really beyond me. I truly don't understand. Can hero worship be that strong? It's like these people have a true mental illness.

I'm proud to say I didn't watch this child abuse unfold on TV. I didn't "flip through the channels" or "watch just 10 mins." These kids are abused, and it's sad that their lives are public fodder.

I wonder if there is such a thing as an intervention for a narcissist?

You know, if Kate really wants to come out of this looking good, which is always her primary concern, she'd put a stop to filming them now and say she wanted to do that all along but TLC wouldn't let her out of the contract.

It doesn't matter who is to blame anymore, just get them away from that camera, Kate.

alana said...

Is it just a coincidence that the "Expelled from Kindergarten" story finally exploded the day after crummy low ratings for Sunday night's show came out???

Divert the attention, shine the light on anything but the LOW RATINGS, use the children if necessary...

TLC reminds me of the political MACHINES of the 1950s. I never thought high school history would come back to haunt me in this way. Scarey.

marnie said...

I thought it was a bit odd that Kate dropped off the radar about a month ago..no more papped pictures at the bus stop?
Now it makes sense - and proves that Chris the pap was definitely on TLC's payroll. Kate/TLC encouraged and welcomed him everywhere before, even the corn maze of last week. However, he was probably told to stop showing up at the bus, since enquiring minds would notice the 2 kids missing every day.

BeDoneNow said...

I must admit, I thought it would be a bit longer before such a tragedy would become so evident to the public. Frankly, things must be far worse in that house than any of us dare to think. The van drop-off footage was clearly more telling than even WE wanted to admit.

Please dont beat me up here, but what will it take for society and the courts to help those kids? A suicide? Is that what is next?

I did hear a sheeple at work say "The children's private lives should be off limits." I cant get it through her head that their 'private lives' is what she is paying Kate an admission fee to WATCH. These kids are not actors, no matter how scripted these fake vacations are. What has been filmed and sold for FIVE count em FIVE years is their PRIVATE LIVES!

As awful and as life altering as something like this can be, maybe some good will come out of it. Perhaps Kate will end up getting the mental health treatment that she needs and her control of 8 little ones will be lessened.

I would love to have a talk with that judge from a few weeks ago. Just how did the court put the profits of a corporation ahead of the well being of those children....How is that ruling lookin' to ya now?

I thought it was odd that all of a sudden she has disappeared from Chris's lens, I mean no jogging photos, target photos, tanning/mani photos, wholesale food photos, Ups photos, I mean even the exchange of the kids in front of the driveway photos have disappeared. Now its two kids expelled and not one. I guess filming your kids and taking them on expensive trips everywhere pays off this way. Next time Jon and Kate, keep your kids home and teach them some manners.

kate won't have to take the kids off tv, tlc will dump her, voila, problem for kids ends. someone in authority should surely be stepping in now to investigate this 'family's lifestyle' and see about reassigning the better of the two parents (at least at this point) to be in charge of the kids and their house. let the mom-figure move to LA where she seems to feel she has a future (delusional still). Please post my comments or tell me why none of the previous ones have posted.

Okay now bloggers, On another site it has been stated that she has been giving the kids old lunches, stuff that has not been eaten from the kids lunches. She repacks old sandwiches and other stuff that has been spoiled. I believe this is coming from a nanny, probably the few who have quit on her and are not afraid to talk. They said the meat has gone bad and yet she still repacks it and expects them to eat it. Why or why would someone do that? I washed my kids lunch pail every day and repacked it with fresh fruit, new snack and new fresh sandwich with a cold juice or milk. Organic meat, especially sandwich meat don't have a long shelf life as it is, but to repack and repack the same stuff is cruel.

IMHO as a viewer, I watched the Alaska show in sadness, sniff sniff, now that I know, The Learning Channel and 8 is all fake. For most of the show, actually almost all of it, Kate was sitting in an interview chair, not on the new couch, all prettied up with her full fake hair and makeup, and of course with her boobs hanging out. I mean those girls were at attention as she was sitting sideways so the viewer could really see up close and whatever..

KG sounded monotone with no believable excitement in her voice at all. She didn't seem to care if I watched her show or her kids on TV, as long as I looked at her boobs and her $10,000, hair weave. Her boobs did most of the talking.

Question is Ms. Scarlett, why not just sit there with no shirt on at all? Why bother? Just do the narration naked. Children and women are the fan base, so not sure where TLC is going with this. Perhaps Kate needs to be hidden from the camera if the show is about the kids, and just be an invisible animated voice over, like she said she wanted to be.

No more photo op's for her boobs and 5" stripper heels getting stuck in the mud while walking in a muddy corn maze. (I still laugh when I see that picture. Talk about clueless. Walking around with "toilet paper, aka disgusting corn shuck" stuck to your heel. (Buts Oh Ms. Scarlett, you is the sh**)

I was just thinking the sheeple who are blaming this on Jon are the same ones saying we don't know what really goes on, we only see a little footage and have no right to speculate what happens when things are not being filmed. And yet here they are doing the exact same things making speculation and assuming things they cannot possibly know.

Moreover, they seem to want their cake and eat it too, they want the kids to be with Kate and Jon to disappear and get in a car accident, and Kate more or less has the kids the majority of the time. Stands to reason the parent who is with the kids the most should be held responsible, as they are the ones raising them. And yet it's the non-custodial parent's fault who rarely sees them? Twisted logic.

Mary Ann your post was so well said and very reasonable. I don't understand why they can't stop pointing fingers and just be behind what's best for these children.

On DWTS, Brooke and Kate did and do act a lot alike. Long lost diva sisters? No one is jealous honey bears. Viewers, both men, women and some children think you are both way out there.. These are not, Boobies Gone Wild On shows, and neither of you are in your 20's anymore. Both of you are d-i-v-o-r-c-e-d moms, not single moms. How does that feel?

You both look a lot better and more classy with your clothes ON.

Look at adorable Bristol P. on DWTS. She is clean and fresh on the scene, covers up, not concerned with a must have perfect body image, and is actually missing her child. She is up there leading with the pack, even though she can not dance a lick. A REAL single mom that viewers can relate too. Take a hint KG.

BP mother, SP is one of the most popular and well known women in the world, like it or not, and KG disrespected her. Why did TLC keep KG on after the incident in Alaska in front of the crew, SP and her family? It was widely reported that KG was totally disrespectful, and even disappeared away from her children for 2 days with SN, during filming of the Alaska trip. Where was she? Who watched her children?

Was KG trying to ruin SP's show or make her look bad? Is it because SP has the winning Alaska TLC series coming up? I bring this up again now, because as an average viewer, that is what I think she was trying to do. Sabotage Ms. Palin. Kate, this is not the way to get to Hollywood. Your PR team is ruining you and steering you in the wrong direction. They are too young for you. Get a more experienced team and leave your children out of your ambitions. Poor kids, this is heart wrenching to read, watch or hear about.

The "Sheeple" as they are called, will disappear off the radar pretty soon. Most of them are young interns who work for Kate Gosselin's PR team and Agent. Some are interns for TLC who defend KG on R*L and other gossip sites and write the TLC blog.

They let the cat out of the bag in the comments section late one night, when they were joking around with each other. They slammed JG over tiny little things, that only KG could have told them about, such as food and her bedroom. And it was over kill on infatuation and love for Kate.

Some Sheeple are true die with the heard Kate fans, but the majority are paid hired help who are told what to post and to defend her honor, no matter what. One of them even wrote on R*L, can you believe we have to do this followed by an "lol"

Back to one last recap addition of the K8 Alaska. Yes, it was all scripted right down to the fake ring in the pan for gold, which would have been so cute under any other circumstances. And no, his wife was not on camera. Nice try TLC. Too late for that, eh?

Then KG fake asking if the "stranger" guys were ok when they slipped. Like that wasn't planned? When has she ever cared or talked to anyone on air who is not with the show or in her circle? It has been reported that she doesn't even talk to the TLC crew unless she has too. These are her peeps! Michelle D. treats her crew like they are her family KG.

As Admin reported, the whales perform as they never have before in the history of mankind during the filming, and it was not even laughable. Right on cue, the Alaskan whales, hired by TLC and who were all promised a job in the biz, and only the best and highest gratuities for their cooperation, just happen to appear for a magical moment for the G8 and TLC, with Kate screeching and hand waving like she was drowning in water, and actually whale mate calling. KG, come on, whale calling? If that was my Mother and I was a kid still in school the same age of the twins...Kate Kate Kate! What what what are you thinking?

Go back and look at the people who were on the boat behind her. The looks on their faces is priceless. They are looking at her like she has lost it. I can't believe their faces did not end up on the cutting room floor.

If Kate is making her children eat old lunch meat, repacked lunches or spoiled food then this is another form of abuse towards her children. She certainly isn't destitude and she is making a lot of money off her children. This is sick behavior, but not surprising since she was filmed giving her children miniscule portions to eat, withholding food from her children, complaining about the cost of food staples, such milk, eggs, etc. Her children also have been seen or have been reported throwing up, maybe from eating rotten food.

She may be popular in your world, but she most certainly is not one of the most popular women in the world. According to a Washington Post/ABC poll conducted in October, 67% of registered voters do not think she is qualified to be president and 39% have a strongly unfavorable opinion of her, compared with 16% with a strongly favorable opinion. Only 39% have either a "strongly" or "somewhat" favorable opinion of her.

Bristol Palin seems like a very sweet young woman, but the only reason she is still standing on DWTS is because her mother's fan base is voting in droves.

The judge did not rule that filming was good or bad for the kids. That wasn't the issue. He might believe, in fact, that these kids shouldn't be filmed. He had to follow the law, and in that case, it was a question of who had the right to decide if the kids were filmed or not. He decided that, based on the evidence and docments of the court, SHE had the right.

Morally, was this decision in the best interests of the kids? Of course not. However, a judge goes by the law, He can't throw his personal feelings in there. I hope this goes to court again, Jon is armed with evidence, and the ruling changes.

There have been plenty of likable underdogs on DWTS before and yet perfectly likable people who are trying hard get eliminated because they are not as good as their competitors. You can believe that she's still there because she's so likable and hard-working and I'll believe what I want. In the end, both are just opinions and neither will be proven right or wrong.

Kate Gosselin Forces Her Kids To Take Stale Food To School!

EXCLUSIVE! An insider tells HollyBaby.com that if the eight Gosselin kids don’t eat their lunch, Kate repacks it for them to take back to school each day until they eat it. That’s tough love, but is it safe? We asked an expert who slams her parenting approach.

Kate Gosselin has said in the past that she buys organic food, but maybe she should focus more on getting her children to eat it! An insider tells HollyBaby.com that Kate’s eight kids “hate” their packed lunches so much that they would rather go hungry at lunchtime! But that leads to a much bigger problem, because Kate then packs the same item in their lunch box each day until they eat it. Four-day-old sandwiches? Is that even healthy?

Two of Kate’s kid were expelled from school–Alexis and Collin!

“If they don’t eat their food and she sees it when they come home from school, still in their lunch box, she repacks it again,” says our source. “For instance, if they took a bite out of their ham sandwich, Kate will repack that exact sandwich for the next day.”

Sounds awful! And think about the bacteria growing on that food as it sits out, unrefrigerated, each day in the Gosselin kids’ lunchboxes!

Dr. Jeff Gardere, a child psychologist, says that Kate’s approach is all wrong.

Gosselin kids suspended for bullying! Is Kate to blame?

“If we’re talking about a situation where the children are refusing to eat, then it’s not good,” he says. “She should make her children eat, but try different approaches and different foods. Maybe this method is OK once or twice, but not all of the time.”

While calls to Kate’s rep were not returned, the insider tells HollyBaby.com that the children are even losing weight, and because they aren’t eating lunch, they’re having trouble concentrating at school!

Jon won’t watch “Kate Plus 8″– he says it’s exploiting his kids!

“One of the kids was saying that they only ate their grapes, and when I asked why, they said it was because the same piece of pita wrap had been in there all week,” says our source.

With two of Kate’s children reportedly being home schooled after being expelled, do you think Kate should try to change up her parenting techniques?

For some reaso, I just don't buy that story about givng them rotten meat, or spoiled food. I can see her take away dessert or keep adding back a packaged item, but I just can't see her putting spoiled stuff in their lunch. Unless she has totally lost it. :(

I don't know if the school lunches are true or not but doesn't it seem like a lot of stuff that goes on in that house is finally being leaked by someone. Maybe a disgruntled nanny or parent. Someone or a few people are starting to leak what is actually the going on there and it's not pretty.

Hippie Chick said...

Well said Admin. And so true. WHY can't she get this through her thick skull? It is unbelievable that she is so selfish. How can a mother not want what is best for her child/children? Don't all parents want to do right by their kids? Make them feel safe, loved, respected, cared for? HOW does she sleep at night?

As for Jon, man the EFF up, you spineless weasel. I have been on your side forever, from the beginning, but I'm done. You have done nothing. You stand aside & let those kids be taken advantage of day in & out by their ruthless fame-seeking mother. This should be the final straw for you Jon. If they are on TV or NOT, you should be fighting for custody of those children. She is not a fit mother for those kids. Obviously she lacks the skills to teach those kids any basic peer relationships. (or anything. Period.) Stand up & fight, get a frigin lawyer & win. If you truly loved your children, you would FIGHT! You would do anything for your children.

I thought for years that TLC would look over the kids and also make sure they had plenty to eat with Craft Services. I refuse to believe this Mother is giving her children bad food and she is a million dollar star because of them.

Can't think about that right now. Please say this is not true. Somebody, somewhere please verify this story. TLC needs to release a statement on the food issue, but not the suspension from school. Where is the dad? Hiding under a rock?

Betsy said...

Does anyone remember when they first moved into the large home? Jon had said that TLC had sent the family away for two weeks while some furniture/decorating place made up the house with all new stuff. Then when TLC started filming all of a sudden she has window treatments and no tacky sofa and recliner were ever visible again. Than they decide to redo the kitchen before the separation announcement, she takes the kids and it was suppose to be a mini vacation while Jon stayed behind and helped with the kitchen makeover. It was reported out of her own mouth that it was while she was there in Bald Head that she decided the marriage was over and called a lawyer. My point here is, she seems to want so much and expects it that if she were to let go of the filming of her kids, there goes her free stuff, she even let her marriage go because she didn't want to let go of the free stuff.

Sorry to post again Admin, but why wouldn't Kate's rep come forward & say something, anything about this rumor, fact or fiction? If this was my kid, I would want something to be addressed about it. If it's true, then put a positive spin on it, (however they do that), if it's not true, then obviously state that it's a lie & clear it up! Is Kate so in love with the attention that even bringing this kind of negativity to your kids is OK? Unreal.

It is indeed troubling that two six year olds have been expelled. Being a private school I would have to think that there is a specialist on staff, or on call, to assess behavior as required before such a drastic step was taken. I would also think that the specialist would have a meeting with parents to discuss the behavior in question. I have to think that the parent(s??/) were made aware of the problem and since the behavior did not improve the children were expelled. I can't believe the parents did not know there was a problem in advance.

I don't even want to think about what is being said about recycled lunches - and to think the mother is supposed to be a nurse!!!!

The school must have known about them recycled lunches she was repacking, I'm sure the kids said something to their friends and lunch monitor. How grotesque to take food that has been sitting in a lunch pail all day and repack it over and over again. I want to vomit just thinking about it.

I don't know the enrollment of this private school. There may not be a sufficient number of children to warrant having 6 kindergarten classrooms but it would be beneficial for the six Gosselin children to be separated - one in each classroom - so that they can be thought of as individuals and develop as such rather than the Gosselin "bunch".

Does anyone know if the twins are in separate classrooms?

I was a little hell raiser when I was 6 and in First Grade but never misbehaved to the point of suspension or expulsion.

I wonder if there were liability issues involved with their behavior. For instance, if they were repeatedly hitting other children and the parents complained. I sure wouldn't want any child of mine beaten up or bullied at an expensive private school.

There should NEVER have been a Kate plus Eight. Any self respecting, nurturing mother would have publicized that it was a very fragile time for her children and she must do whatever she can to shield her children from the limelight and help them heal. But alas! "The show must go on"! says Kate.

She then continues to throw all of her precious little ones through the TV screen into everyone's living rooms to perform like little organ grinder monkeys. Dance Kids Dance!! Mama needs a new pair of shoes!

In the end when all is said and done, that's all she will have-is her shoes.

Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'" (CBS Evening News --Couric interview).

Television, Joe? Really? In the 1929 stock market crash? FDR wasn't even President!

Or this one, ‘We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt’

Okay, Mr. Vice President. That'll work.

Or this one, "“I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now. It’s not that you’re going to Mexico – it’s that you’re in a confined aircraft and when one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft.”

No, Joe, droplets from a sneeze only travel about three feet, not through an aircraft.

There are more, like telling the handicapped person in the wheelchair to stand up, but, hey, we all make mistakes, right?

...but this guy is a heartbeat away from the Presidency! If Sarah Palin had made statements like this, the public would have crucified her.

Not if it's a rule in Kindergarten that uneaten food is not to be thrown away because the school believes that parents need to know how much, and what quantity is consumed. The only way parents can check this is to see what uneaten food the kids have brought home.

Admin.,

If a nanny signs a CA and sees abuse, does the CA supercede the mandatory reporting of the abuse? Or can the CA be broken and the abuse reported, as required by law in the case of a care-giver?

Mona said...

I think teachers or lunchroom monitors have seen kids toss out food and parents are informed about it. The school wants kids to eat a nutritious lunch. Kate may have been told and decided to handle it her way - throw out the food, get caught, and pay a stiff penalty, or bring it back home and I'll deal with it my way - which may involve the food reappearing the next day until it is finally eaten or it rots. Then again, this may be hearsay about the lunchboxes.

My parents made us sit at the table until we cleaned our plates. Sometimes that meant hours wasted staring at cold vegetables until it was time to go to bed. If we didn't eat it, we got in big trouble. Need I say there are food issues in our family? Kate may be handling this just as poorly as my parents did. (Other than that, mine were great parents. They just had this food thing.)

As a teacher I am required by law to report any suggestion of child abuse. Sadly, last year, my "suggestion" of rape proved true. I could have lost my credential had not I reported my information to Children's Protective Services. In California anyone in a supervisory position of a child is held to this standard.

I am in agreement that this would be true even if you were not an employee of the county/state, but even an employee of a private individual who supervises a child. Perhaps I'm wrong. One of our enlightened bloggers would surely know the legal ramifications.

The kids had monitors - they were probably told by Khate to monitor what they ate and for them to pack it back up and bring it home unbeknownst to them what a monster she is. Maybe now they do know. But the ones that are left they would still have to honor her requests. You pay that kind of money, your requests are expected to be granted. It would not surprise me if the remaining kids did not get taken out as well except for maybe the older ones. Khate obsesses about food and portions - even she when is away she comes back and complains about the amount of food that is "missing." One has to wonder if this is not a generational thing that she is passing down to her kids.

From my understanding (which is solely based on heresay of other bloggers, nothing concrete) Kate has 5 million in assets. That is not liquid assets but includes the house, cars, and any monies tied up in investments. She has under a million in liquid (cash) assets at her disposal. As someone else pointed out, if TLC stops paying her (and again, another blogger asserted that she does not make $250,000 rather a littles less than half of that amount), Kate would likely run through those liquid assets very quickly trying to maintain her current standard of living.

In many ways, Kate may see this expulsion not for what it is, a shout-out from her kids that something is very dysfunctional in their lives right now, either the behavior modified for them or their inability to process the chaos in their lives, or both, but a golden opportunity to pull her kids and homeschool them, which allows them more accessibility to film.

Jon should make the case that their children are clearly having issues and should have their own court appointed advocates, as clearly both their parents have a conflict of interest because of the importance of the show in providing income for them. If Kate disagrees, then she needs to document how she is meeting their need for counseling etc.

This is a truly sad situation.

If these kids go to their pediatric appointments (and I would assume that they do), and they are not gaining weight or growing, and the parent is not doing anything for that situation, can the pediatrian report this. There is no way any of these kids should be 32lbs (as stated in the last episode). Either, 1. Kate did not attend the last appointment and has no idea how much they weigh, or 2. They are malnourished and someone should be reporting this.
I have two very small for their age kids. BUT they are growing year to year. A friend has a child that did not gain weight this past year and is seeing all sorts of specialists.
Why would a judge not see this? Wouldnt Jon notice and report to the court? Hopefully when the nanny's and Jon are feeding the kids, they are sneaking in more food.

Or, the 32 lb. comment was Kate's way of saying her children are small. It's not as if she hasn't been known to exaggerate for effect. Clearly, all these children do not weigh the exact same amount so the statement wasn't meant to be taken literally.

Doctors are mandated reporters, as are school personnel. If there were signs of malnourishment, it would be reported. It's ridiculous to accuse the woman of starving her children.

**There is a great deal that we don't know. I must repeat, this is a difficult thing to do with ZERO money.

For those that are saying Jon should have gotten the children to counseling during his visitation time: counselors need to be paid. I applaud all who have a job, a few dollars in the bank, and some health insurance, but not everyone has those blessings right now.

Also, there are rumblings about the lunches. If your eating hierarchy was being mandated after years of being controlled with food, what would YOU do when you finally had a moment of freedom? Perhaps refuse to eat the first item you were mandated to eat? And yet eat all the rest? And Jon would not know about these repeated leftovers unless one of the kids tells him. But do the children even know that this out of the norm and something worth mentioning to their father? What is alarming here is that 6 year old babies are now retaliating psychologically with food, on their own. At 6. and 10.

And Kate has no idea how much her children weigh. She makes up numbers that she thinks sound good. you all know that.

I better stop here.

Say what you like about tabloids but I'm impressed that INF sat on a story this big. Were they getting paid off, I don't know. The fact that they are saying something now suggests to me not that they are being paid off but rather they actually had some good sense not to say anything about something so private. Now that the cat is out of the bag there is not much point in remaining hush hush.

I was thinking about Kate's supporters and how they long insisted that nothing was harmful about filming. How they cannot even entertain the possibility that filming and public exposure could have contributed to this is beyond me.

And let's assume for a moment, despite the mountain of evidence to the contrary, that they are right. That there is absolutely nothing harmful about robbing your children of every last ounce of their privacy. But why would you even RISK that something might go wrong in the future?

It's sort of like bungie jumping with a frayed cord. I bet you you could complete 50 jumps and you would be fine. But why would you risk it? What good parent would strap their child into faulty equipment and just hope that everything will be fine?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

So much for their theory Jon planted the story, INF is confirming it so. And if Jon is never with his children how can this possibly be his fault. Shouldn't it be the fault of the parent who is with them most of the time? The sheeple want their cake and eat it too, they want Kate to be with the kids all the time but then blame all the children's problems on Jon. Sorry it don't work that way!

Just my two cents on expelling kids this little, it can and does happen. My church preschool, which has a waiting list of two years and has had several celebrity children come through their doors, expelled a little boy back in 2000 after he pushed another child down the stairs and dislocated his shoulder. He came from a prominent family, his dad is a big producer and the school could have probably gotten several big donations out of them. But it was not worth it to the school to have every other parent think that their children would be unsafe going there. He was biting kids before and got warnings but he was gone the second that kid was pushed down the stairs. I hear the little boy who is a teenager now is doing just fine and a football all-star, and maybe that's because there was an intervention way back in preschool to nip is bad behavior in the bud and channel it into productive things like sports.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Hippie Chick I'm not understanding your take on Jon. He JUST went to court, he was fighting this for many weeks with the courts and lost.

You cannot go back to the same court again and again and again with your same complaints--this was a final judgment, it's over. Jon knew about the school problems, the judge didn't care. This was only a few weeks ago, Jon could very well be talking to a new lawyer trying to figure out some other way to get this back in front of a judge. Court dates take time, this is the busy Christmas season. My courtroom has a backlog of two months right now before you get in. Jon kept his first trip to court quiet and I don't know why he wouldn't keep this one quiet too. If he was vocal he would be accussed of exploiting them for publicity. The guy is damned either wya.

Vanessa said...

Admin, I have to disagree as far as INF had the good sense not to report this. They did not report this because TLC/Kate is a big part of their bread and butter. Chris works for INF, Chris is the sole p-parazzi that follows Kate ONLY to Target, the bus stop and the spa. He might have put a few things out there that weren't very complimentary to her (is he responsible for the video of the kids in the van screaming?) But this reeks of "Be nice now, you've made a lot of moola off of us. Don't bite the hand that feeds you."
But someone is always going to be willing to sell info, and someone did and now INF is jumping on the bandwagon.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Here's another point for the sheeple to ponder. Let's assume, just for a second, that being expelled from school had absolutely nothing to do with filming, with losing their privacy, with every last moment of their lives being exploited for their mother's manicures, pedicures and hair extensions.

Even so, is this not a PRIVATE matter that they should be dealing with WITHOUT CAMERAS AND WITHOUT FAME? Why should they have to cope with something like this in the spotlight, regardless of what caused the behavior that resulted in being expelled?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Seems to me a story this big would be worth it to INF to publish despite ticking Kate off. Kate doesn't give them exclusive access at least not recently. Chris just camps out at the house and follows them. Kate can't legally make Chris go away from outside her house, Target, the pedicure place. It doesn't matter how much she likes or dislikes him he's gonna get his photos.

I guess having worked in journalism at both a newspaper and a national broadcast network, I know that paying off just isn't something that happens as often as people think. Maybe they are, I don't know, I just find it unlikely.

This is where Jon loses me. Fact is, when they separated he made himself and his bachelor lifestyle priority number 1. How do you leave your eight innocent children in the dust to live in NYC with a girlfriend? He knew Kate's treatment of those kids better than anyone and turned a blind eye. He knew how much damage Kate caused him emotionally and he left the kids behind to take it without him as a buffer.

Had he stood up and fought IMMEDIATELY, he wouldn't be in the situation he is today. I believe he said he regrets his actions now, but that's going to be a tough one to explain to his kids someday.

Also, I know Kate's been ripped for not getting the kids therapy, but Jon is perfectly capable of making appointments and taking them. So do it! If Kate won't allow it, what judge could deny children in a situation like this therapy.

Actually, the sheeple are putting the blame squarely on Jon. They are either refusing to believe the story, and claim he made it up; or they say the kids are acting out because of the divorce (all his fault, of course) and because of his affairs. They refuse to face the fact that the divorce is over a year old, and that Kate has had sole custody of the kids ever since.

If Jon wanted to take the kids to therapy, and Kate didn't, would the judge most likely rule the same way? That she was the one to make that decision, and Jon couldn't just take them to therapy against her wishes?

Of course she would recycle lunches. She has to save money to be able to go for mani's and tans, etc.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'm not so sure it's just a matter of saving money as it is that she's just too lazy to make new lunches. In the Back To School episode, we saw what a chore this is for her. I'd think that she would have the nanny make lunches, but maybe she's so much of a control freak about what goes into the lunches that she does it herself. When they don't eat it she sees it as one less lunch that she has to prepare.

If, of course, the reports about the re-packed lunches have any validity.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Normally I would think the lunches is just another rumor. But what gives me pause about that one is what we DID see:

QUIET!!! What order do we eat our lunches in?????

What we also saw was Kate warning them she better not find fruit and veggies in their lunches and the cookies gone. Which suggests she IS checking what is left in those lunches at the end of the day.

It's not about saving money; it's not about controlling their food intake; it's about PUNISHING them for not eating parts of their lunch, and then rationalizing that all they have to do is eat it, and then they won't be PUNISHED.

"How dare they not eat all the nutritious food I (read:the nannies)prepare for them?" "I'll show them! They will get it every day until they eat it!"

Kate's entire parenting style is based on punishment for "bad" behaviour, which is another way of saying a child has gone against some nebulous rule that Kate has made up to suit the needs of her moment.

As I said on another blog, the bigger the kids get, the bigger the punishments will have to be in order for Kate to control the situation.THis could lead to serious harm.

I agree, Admin. This is particularly true since Kindergarteners are not allowed to throw out their lunches because it's felt that parents need to see what was eaten and what was not.

But re-packing uneaten pitas and ham sandwiches? I'm not so sure about that. That seems to be really over-the-top for ANY mom to do. I can see sending uneaten sealed bags of munchies, or packs of crackers for a few days. Of course she may theorize that since they have those frozen stay-cold packs in their lunch boxes, it's as good as being refrigerated. We all know, however, those things don't stay cold for 10 hours or keep food fresh for an extended period of time.

Something I realized from reading your comment: Hate takes everything so personally (of course). Even what kids eat or don't eat somehow reflects back on to HER. To me it is about CONTROL. When Jon refused to be CONTROLLED any longer he rebelled . . . . .badly . . . . . Has Kate really even begun
to experience true rebellion from her children? If she thinks it is bad now. . . . Should we be surprised? In the old neighborhood the twins showed the stress, one by expressing, the other by silence . . there were warning signs back then but both parents signed onto the madness at the time. The formative years were in the midst of this madness, can their esteem and rage even be salvaged at this point? I sure hope so. I hope since Kate is lying low that she is realizing the harm and attempting to get her house in order, not just plotting her next Hollywood move.

Doesn't the school have to sign off on work permits? I live in the midwest and my son had to have work permits signed my a school admin to work at age 16 and 17. If the children are in fact expelled, they are obviously not in good standing at school.

All info below was found at: state.pa/community/child_labor_law

"Q: Where do I get a work permit?"
"A: Each school district is responsible for issuing work permits to all minors who reside in the district including those who attend non-public schools or are participating in a home education program. Contact your school district to find out which building you should go to and what hours the work permit-issuing officer is available."

"Q: What is the procedure for getting a work permit?"
"A: An application for a work permit can be obtained at your local school district. The prospective employer must indicate on the application what type of work the student will be doing and what hours the student will be working. The student then gets a physical and the doctor signs the application. The application is then returned to the school. A parent or guardian must appear before the issuing officer. If this is not possible, then an Attestation Document must be obtained from the school district and the parent must sign the document and have it notarized."

There is a PDF copy of the standard (non-entertainment) permit here:
paworkpermitapplication.pdf

The G8 are covered by a special entertainment release which is covered under this particular heading: "If a student wants to work as a model or performer for theater, television or the movies, what permit is needed?".

Kate should sit and watch the Marie Osmond interview on Oprah today. The similarities are chilling. Marie was not content with 2 kids, so she adopted 6 more. Marie was not content at home, so she lived on stage, in the spotlight. Justifying this as being a single mom, the only bread winner in the family. Her 12 year son was a drug addict. That is what all that money she earned being away from her kids was good for, it fed their addictions. Her son had an earlier suicide attempt. He tried reaching her before he jumped, but she was just heading out on stage. As she weeped, she tried justifying her need to make money, to support this overly large family, saying her kids are her life, they taught her so much. Sadly, the loss of this child hasn't taught her anything. Then Marie performed a song, in honour of her son, but once again it is about her, the spotlight on her, as she wipes her tears. Her face is a canvas for botox and lip enhancements, her upper lip so huge it covers her teeth when she talks and sings. She talks about her daughter being gay, and her eldest son being sad, and she plays their private memorial tributes to the son/brother they lost for Oprah and audience. They just don't get it. If you want to save your children, raise them. Be with them. Forget trying to buy them a lifestyle, give them a life.

I would not put the lunch thing past Kate one bit. Anyone who has grown up with with this type of dysfunctional, authoritarian parenting style probably has similar stories to this. Only difference is that fame and greed have further fueled the underlying dysfunction that Kate had to begin with. I can only hope that Jon will get the kids' counseling before things get worse.

Also, the bigger they get, the less "likable" they are, to TLC's/Kate's standards. Kate wants to keep them babies, or rather, younger looking. Controlling the food intake may mean keeping them scrawny. I have always thought that. I know people have disagreed & said that they are just small kids, but Kate stunts them in so many ways. Socially, psychologically, physically. She wants to keep this sideshow going & she thinks keeping the kids looking & acting "babyish" is the only way, IMO. It's all about control with this woman. It WILL backfire.

Oprah hasn't come on yet for me but people are already talking about it. Is it true she is still denying her son was gay??? Way to make this tragedy all about her.

That woman has a whole host of problems not unlike Kate. I'm still convinced she faked her fainting episode on DWTS, she stomped around that season like she had some deep-seated need to outshine every single person on that cast even though most of them were also narcissists themselves.

I guess I feel more sorry for her than anything.

Gosselin Gossip said...

Administrator said...Which really begs the question, are they in violation of child labor laws again since children are required to be in good standing at school to work?
---------

Not sure if this applies to the special work permits issued to the Gosselins, but under PA Child Labor Laws FAQs:

Q: Can a school district refuse to issue a work permit, or revoke one, on the grounds of the student’s poor attendance, grades or behavior?

A: No. The law has no provision to revoke a permit and a permit MUST be issued if a student meets the criteria in the law to have a permit issued.

Q: If a student is being home schooled, do all of the Child Labor Laws apply?

A: The U.S. Department of Labor has ruled that home schooling is not grounds for an exception to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and thus all work by 14- and 15-year-olds is prohibited during the time the local public school is in session. Since the FLSA does not cover 16-and 17-year-olds, the Pennsylvania Department of Education has ruled that home schooled students who are 16 and 17 may work during the time school is in session as long as they do not work more than 6 consecutive days in one week, or work more than 8 hours per day or more than 44 hours per week. Those students may not work after midnight (Sunday through Thursday) during the school year. It would be helpful if the parent provides the employer with written verification that the student is being schooled at home.

Q: Can a student who is suspended or expelled work during the time school is in session?

A: Students who are suspended are considered to be enrolled in the school, and so all the rules that apply to other students also apply to them.

Students who have been expelled are not considered to be “enrolled in a regular day school” (language from the Child Labor Law) so they may be permitted to work during the time school is in session. They may not, however, exceed the daily and weekly maximum number of hours allowed for their age.

Just wanted to add my experience about kids bringing home uneaten food. At my son's elementary school, kids brought home all their trash from lunch, including uneaten food. The school saved money on trash disposal, parents saw what their kids ate and didn't eat, and the school was trying to raise awareness of the amount of trash generated at lunch. There was a "green campaign" going on to encourage parents to send food in reusable contrainers, rather than wrapping everything in plastic wrap that gets thrown away after one use.

I wouldn't think it matters, since according to the work permits, homeschooling qualifies as education. Do they need the person who is doing the homeschooling to sign off, or must the district do that? Another question, since they RESIDE (see work permit) in the Wilson School District in Berks County, but attend school in another county, which school district issues the permits for the children?

"Each school district is responsible for issuing work permits to all minors who reside in the district including those who attend non-public schools or are participating in a home education program."

Applaud!
My mother (Marie, btw!) would agree! I do too.
I remember VIVIDLY being 6 years old and playing with a friend next door. She was 5.
At dinner time, my mom came to collect me and as I held her hand on the way home, I told her that Tracy's mom was making "bisgetti" for dinner.
Now, I knew how to say "spaghetti"- probably for years, but Tracy was the baby of her family and treated as such. Thus, she had baby speech and I guess correcting the way she pronounced words wasn't a priority.
I will NEVER forget the look on my mom's face when I pronounce spaghetti as "bisgetti". She stopped dead in her tracks, leaned over and looked me in the eye (well, that wasn't hard as she wore peddle pushers vs. 5-inch CFM shoes) and said "You know how to say spaghetti, and I don't ever want to hear you say it wrong again. You're NOT a baby-do NOT talk like one"
I was 6. Still remember that 'til today and strive to always increase my vocabulary and wipe out all traces of my Philadelphia accent. Which, by the by, is the reason I first Googled J&K. I came across their show 3+ years ago and when they did their couch interview, they exuded the Philly accent. Still do, Jon more than Kate.
My point is, among many other things that Kate models for her kids incorrectly (dressing promiscuously, orthorexia, exercise bulimia, extreme prejudice against marriage and mistreatment of their father), her insistence on speaking in a "cutsey" manner will not bode well for her younger 6, whose speech is already obviously retarded (and I'm not saying that in a pejorative fashion (look it up sheeple))

I also felt disgusted with myself for watching her humiliate her children. I didn't like that feeling, and swore I'd never subject myself to this woman's horrid mothering skills ever again.

This is the reason we havent seen trips to pick the kids up because it would be obvious two tups were missing.
Leave Jon alone. His entire life, his dads latter years and his childrens lives were ruined because he became involved with a succubus who drained every dime and energy and joy from all of them. He tried to do something and was SO maligned on every tv show and mag, ridiculed and trashed in every way. He had tried staying in the marriage to help matters, even sleeping in the basement. When they moved to the new house, she sent him to the garage to live and then set him up by saying he could have friends and stabbing him in the back when he did. Then SHe divorced him and took him to the cleaners. when he tried to do something, or work on ET, TLC charged him with breach of contract and could have sued him penniless forever. Instead they castrated him again (she did the first) by not allowing him to talk in his defense, not allowing him to work at anything w/o their say so, getting her the best lawyers to cut him out of the childrens lives and he couldnt afford legal help with out money. It is a wonder the man didnt commit suicide.

Sharon here! Just read an article about Taylor Momson- the 17 yo girl on Gossip Girl. In the article, she says the reason she is so dark and miserable is because her parents stole her childhood. They signed her up at Ford Modeling when she was 2 and she was in and out of school, didn't have friends, etc. The article is on Popeater. All sounds very familiar- just sayin'

This whole thing is so sad. The misbehavior is starting way too early. If it's this bad at 6 years old what is it going to be like when they're in their teens? This is what being raised by numerous nannies, parents divorcing and being absent, cameras in their faces, tabloids, fighting with relatives and loved ones, and a narcissistic mother does. This woman should be arrested for putting her kids through this all in the name of fame and money. She makes me sick. Jon's afraid of her and always has been. It's time for someone with some nerve to step up and put this woman in her place.

The fact that RadarOnline hasn't touched the explusion story just confirms IMO the connection between TLC and Radar. They run every little scoop from Hailey Glassman and don't say a word about this.

I completely agree!! Kate sucks the life out of EVERY person she comes in contact with.

I hold the "friends" "family" and TLC "employees" responsible, who have said NOTHING to defend those children, or back up Jon or Kevin and Jodi....much more than I do Jon!.

There ARE people who know what goes on behind closed doors and have refused to get involved. IF they banded together, there is not a PR machine in existence that could withstand a united front!

Kate needs to be exposed publicly for the wretched human being she is...then and only then will those children have a fighting chance...if it is not to late already.

If this were just a case of Kate is not a likable human being then silence would be understandable, but it is obvious to even the casual observer, she is an abuser and is downright dangerous to the mental well being of anyone who crosses her path.

Unfortunately, those 8 children do not have the freedom to up and remove themselves from her maniacal clutches...SOMEONE has to grow a spine and do it for them!

OMG, Now the NY POST has mentioned that the two children, Alexis and Collin have been expelled from school and that their mother is keeping it a private matter, TLC had no response.

You know in a way it's refereshing that the only thing the sheeple can do at this point is troll around here (Why? I don't troll at their sites), try to find spelling errors and then attack them like wolves. Because they don't actually have a response to the total debacle that is this family and they don't actually have a response when we blame it largely on Kate. They got nothin'.

I used to think maybe the children would have problems in school more around eighth or ninth grade. But kindergarten? It's sort of what we all warned everyone about, only ten years earlier than we ever thought.

I hope Steve can be her roommate, for he is as guilty as Kate. They deserve each other.

He has stood back and seen all the crap first hand and turned his head like so many others !
I hope they get what they deserve.

Yes, Oprah has to have some affiliation with TLC/Discovery. When she had the latest side-show family on her show, the "cast" of Sister Wives, all she could say was "This is fascinating to me! This is alll just sooo fascinating" She's had many polygamist families on her show over the years and she was NEVER that polite or accepting of the "lifestyle"

I watched Steve's interview on youtube, and he is convinced that Kate is the victim in all of this. You know, when you are the common denominator in many, many failed relationships and estrangements, you ought to take a good look in the mirror.
He's sticking to his story. He's also the children's de facto father.

Me too. I thought the teen years would be horrific. (I still think so) Unless they DO get some help NOW. Sadly, I didn't want to be "right" about this messing up the kids. It is very, very sad.

I do not like being correct or trolled at for my spelling errors here. First off, English is NOT my first language and I certainly do NOT have to defend myself to anyone whatsoever by any means. My point is, did you see me add the phrase, "-ish" at the end of any of my words? No you certainly did not. People, if you are going to post at least have the common curtesy to be polite to people who might make MINOR spelling errors. Its pathetic and rude to waste your time attacking me.

Students who have been expelled are not considered to be “enrolled in a regular day school” (language from the Child Labor Law) so they may be permitted to work during the time school is in session. They may not, however, exceed the daily and weekly maximum number of hours allowed for their age.

===================

The kids aren't required to be enrolled in ANY school until age eight in PA, so I'm wondering if all of this is a moot point.

=======================================

Kate's fans have been backed into a very tight corner. They have no logical or reasonable arguments to make to pass the blame away from Kate concerning what is happening to the children, so they must pounce on trivial matters. The fact is, Kate has bleated from every TV and print platform that she is raising her children all by herself. Her followers and apologists have used this mantra to constantly defend Kate. Now this "all by myself" refrain is evidence that she is the driving force responsible for the destruction of her children. TLC gave her the mechanism to accomplish this, and Jon was weak in trying to end it, but Kate has to look no further than the closest mirror to see where everything went so wrong.

There is no arguing that. So Admin, you are so right - they ain't got nothin.

Marie, well said. Since I know it's just a few trolls making fun, I don't mean to preach to the choir. But you do not know someone's personal situation. If this were a Harvard thesis I would expect perfection. It is a blog and ANYONE is welcome to post here no matter what their skills are as long as they follow the rules. The constant holier than thou spelling/grammar corrections are hurtful and remind me of the teasing I endured in gradeschool, even at the hands of teachers who were supposed to be helping kids like me.

You do not know of the host of personal experiences, medical conditions, just plain typing quickly! or other factors that come into play when someone is typing a comment on a silly little blog (and not a Harvard thesis!).

The traditional way spelling (and languages) is taught in an American classroom do not usually work well for a child whose brain was wired like mine--drill after drill after drill is hard on a child who can't focus. I have never been medicated or ever asked for special treatment like a tutor or extra time--I knew if I was going to achieve my goals I was going to have to do it without special treatment. Maybe the focus of all these intelligent and perfect spellers should be on coming up with different ways to teach a child like me subjects like that, and not on just picking on the failures of our education system to both recognize special needs kids and to alter archaic teaching methods to help them succede. Seems to me that would be time better spent.

One of the reasons I love Michael Phelps so much is that I think like him--instead of wallowing in his ADHD he found something to channel into--swimming.

Sweet karma. Kate, "it all rests on me, me, me, me" Gosselin now wants it to rest on Jon. How much you want to bet she will now start dropping hints Jon is around the kids a lot more than she ever let on before.

She spent the last 18 months convincing us SHE raises the kids, SHE looks after the house and takes care of school needs, SHE supports them, and that Jon is an uninvolved father leaving it all to her. Well you got what you wanted, Kate, this is all on you, sister.

She wanted the kids, she got them, and all the problems that comes with that.

Which, by the by, is the reason I first Googled J&K. I came across their show 3+ years ago and when they did their couch interview, they exuded the Philly accent. Still do, Jon more than Kate.

------------------

Kate was raised in rural Lancaster County, PA. I've never heard any traces of a Philly accent in Kate's speech. What I hear is the southern Lanc Co accent, including so many words common to the area, and word placement within sentences. It's distinctly different from the Philly accent. I remember when she was telling Jon to put something "wayback" in the van and I laughed because it's such a typical Lancaster County word. Many here pronounce salmonella as "sammonella," another Kate-ism.

We do not, however, add "ish" or "y" to all of our words! I have no idea where that came from.

As I said, Jon's accent is more pronounced, but no doubt, I'd peg Kate as being from the Philly area too. It's the long "I" sound. It's gutteral and very pronounced. So, I'm not talking about the regional vernacular, I'm talking about how words are pronounced.
By "from Philly", I meant the Philly region, which to me, Lancaster/Berks is. I also grew (in Philly) up sitting "way back" in our family station wagon. "Way, way in the back" was the pop-up, rear-facing seat in the cargo area.

Jakie, Make The Light Out said...

Trucker: I thought you were talking about an inner-city Philly accent, which she doesn't have! I never considered a Philly accent to be Lanc/Berks County, but I guess it could be, depending on how you're looking at it. Put a Philly person next to a Lancaster County person and you'd swear they are from a different country! It's not just the pronunciation of the words, it's the word PLACEMENT, a throw-back to German. I agree about the gutteral sounds. She also uses "ARE" instead of "OUR."

I grew up in rural Lancaster County. I went to college in Philly. I remember the first year I was there, kids would say to me, "You're from Lancaster County, aren't you?" Even though I don't consider myself to have a typical PA Dutch accent, the native Philly kids could hear it, and they'd tease me about it (all in good fun). I remember them telling me that one dead give-away was the inflection at the end of the sentences. Kate has it, too.

It's more than an affiliation; Oprah OWNS a good size percentage of Discovery Health/Discovery/TLC. There's a pretty clear reason she let the Gosselin show go untouched - it was making money and she knows better than to interfere. As for Sister Wives, etc -- she's doing the same as she did with J&K+8 at the beginning; giving the show some exposure because they're a hot topic and of course hopefully profit from it.

Correct. And PA is very clear that even expelled students ARE permitted to work.

http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/child_labor_law/7508

Q: Can a student who is suspended or expelled work during the time school is in session?

A: Students who are suspended are considered to be enrolled in the school, and so all the rules that apply to other students also apply to them.

Students who have been expelled ... may be permitted to work during the time school is in session. They may not, however, exceed the daily and weekly maximum number of hours allowed for their age.

Seriously? How about leave Collin and Mady alone! Jon is an adult, albeit, a seemingly very immature one! Jon had opportunities to put his foot down, and he didn't. Now we hear a little stomp!

Do you remember his interview in Utah, discussing their marketabilty? Jon was in this full force the majority of the time. He liked his cash, his trips, etc.

I think if he actually liked Kate a little better, they'd still be at it.

Hmmmm Her a$$ is gra$$ as far as I can tell.
Glad she renewed her nursing license.

These darling children need our continued support and that of their so-called "caretakers."
I saw a 6 year old taken away (twice) by 'the men in the white coats' and the mother continued to blame it on our school. When she took him out of school I asked her what counseling/theraphy she had planned (older brother was in my class) and she replied it was the school's fault! "There's nothing wrong with my child." denial - denial- denial
We must continue to support the children and never, ever watch TLC.

The news about the expulsion was in the British newspaper today. The Daily Mail. They even named the children. There was a photo of Kate walking with the children and not a smile among them. Very sad.
As for those that like to critique other people's spelling etc. What that says to me is you have nothing to say of any interest to anyone.

WHAT A JOKE! Now she wants privacy..now that things look so darn bad!
Why are the kids homeschooled? Are there no other schools they can possibly go to? It's same school as your siblings or no school at all?
