Kids dress up for Thanksgiving

Photos show what looks like Alexis punching Joel and throwing a dog toy at him.

Despite the trees planted to protect the children from paparazzi, the kids were dressed as Native Americans and inexplicably taken out in full view of Chris on Thanksgiving day. Although no adults were in sight, a teenage boy who appears to be Steve's son was there. And so was Shoka, the reincarnated dog. Two photos show Alexis going aggressively at Joel with her fists, and several other photos show Hannah and Leah with their arms tightly folded across their chests as if they are cold.

So the whole thing with the trees was BS just to make it seem like Kate was protecting the children? Proof there is an area of the property where their pics can be snapped if Kate feels like sending them there.

And no one thought to say "Hey, this might be seen as disrespectful" at all?

Wow. You really shouldn't tempt the ire of the First Nations this way, Kate.

Save the kids pointed out that it's awfully strange for Chris to go Gosselin-watching on Thanksgiving...that there's no way this was anything other than a planned shoot. I second the hell out of your statement.

Gosselin8ComeFirst said...

Spot reserved by Kate for Chris so she can make more money off her kids. Kate is the saddest excuse of a mother I have ever seen in my lifetime.

God help these kids, as she has no interest in protecting them, even after all that has happened. There is a place in hell for her....

Gosselin8ComeFirst said...

And just as an aside, if someone is constantly taking pictures of your kids on private property (who just happens to randomly pop up), don't you think she would call the police, is the photo op was not contracted?

It's all about the money for Kate....what a poor excuse for a mother.

Westcoaster said...

The mind just boggles at the continuous antics of this woman - does she not have ANY concept of American history - dressing your kids in Indian costumes on Thanksgiving Day and parading them on the lawn in what appears to be really cold weather. I guess she was indoors in the warm kitchen putting the finishing touches on her organic dinner. Or, as the flight attendant on another blog said, more likely on the couch asleep.

Steve and son - how special.

Not Watching Khate said...

The trees were there to protect Khate... not the kids.

Her exploitation of her own children continues to make me very sad. These children are having a childhood of hell.

Administrator said...

As long as Chris stays on the public street the police aren't going to do anything. He has every right to take whatever photos he wants into private property as long as he stays on public property.

This is all on Kate--make sure the children aren't playing where he can see them. Isn't there a whole tree line she planted for that? Move to a property that is not so darn exposed to the press. Pull your children off TV.

I agree it's really highly suspicious that Chris is giving up his entire Thanksgiving Day to camp out at the house on the off chance the kids might come out of the treeline so he can get a pic. He hasn't been at the house lately or if he is he isn't getting any pics. Things that make you go hmm.

I can't believe there are Sheeple who actually envy or think others envy Kate's life. Kate has lived in the eastern PA area her entire life and has no one to spend Thanksgiving with other than a paid TLC employee under a confidentiality agreement and his family.

What does that say about you as a person? You have not one parent, sibling, niece, nephew, cousin, unpaid friend to spend Thanksgiving with. NOT ONE! What a sad, pathetic life.

Read the flight attendant story, the gist is that Kate slept the entire flight and five kids threw up and were running up and down the aisles bothering people.

This backs up what the blogging passenger said on the way to Alaska, that the kids were throwing up and up and down the whole flight.

mamamia said...

It smells like a Christmas episode of Kate plus 8 to me. They were probably filming inside dressed as pilgrims and indians. Kate has said in the past how much the kids like to put on little plays for her. This one will air right after Christmas, I'm sure. Poor kids don't even catch a break from working on Thanksgiving for crying out loud!

Gosselin8ComeFirst said...

I am pretty much done with Kate's atrocious behavior towards her kids. If 2 of HER 6 six and a half year olds getting expelled from kindergarten, did not ring alarm bells in her head, nothing ever will.

Instead she chooses to get paid for her interview on ET to lie about her kids expulsion, goes on trips to LA for several days, and then conveniently upon her return, puts them out in the yard for a photo op with Chris for $$.

If she is not the bottom of the barrel as far as a mother goes, I am not sure who is. And yet do not forget, her mantra is a Supermom who does it all by herself..... The Judge needs to stop this sadistic charade of poor parenting by Kate once and for all.

The trees were planted to protect Kate and Steve's privacy. The kids just have to be shoved closer to the fence now to get their publicity shots. All the better for Kate. She can't hear their screams from there.

Are there more photos than these? I don't see the picture of Alexis punching Joel with both fists. There's one picture of her with her hand against his chest and another one with her holding a toy of some kind, looks like she's getting ready to throw it for the dog, who is looking up at it.
Is there a link to the punching photos?

Just a casual, normal day at the Kompound, not at all a staged photo op for the cameras and TV show.

So I am guessing for the Christmas episode (to naturally air on Valentines Day) the kids are elves and kHate is The Grinch?

In fact, it's likely the reason the dog has returned: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5qc79DSkPtw/SpbjUjRI8sI/AAAAAAAAD18/YbrYMKWZQxo/s400/Grinch-Max.jpg

I know we are all on the same page, but honestly, is the property that is adjacent to Kate's property privately owned? Seriously, I am tired of Kate blaming the one "paparazzi" hired by TLC/INF for invasion of her privacy, when she is clearly getting paid. If there were privacy issues, don't you think she or the neighbor would have called the police by now, or as some of you noted, not send thd kids out to a location they can be photographed. This expoitation by Kate must end. And I know she tells her kids exactly where they can go out and play, never mind dressing them up as Indians. Kate is so far from being a protective, viligant parent, it is not even interesting anymore. I hope all of this comes up in the next hearing.

sftk said...

WHY oh WHY can't someone put a stop to this outrageous treatment of these kids. Making them "dress" up and preform for the cameras on a Holiday no less. Where are child protection services, how can Jon allow his children to be used this way? I am outraged at the fact they cannot even have a private holiday. Kate is behind this, making sure they are working the public, having Steve and family around again and "leaking" pictures taken on the property after having $60,000. of trees planted to "protect" the children! I cannot believe this is allowed to continue esp. after the acknowledgement the children are having serious emotional issues. This is a form of child abuse and I cannot see how so many people allow this to continue. Rep. Murt, please try to stop this asap. These children will not be allowed to even have a Christmas without working. They will be dragged someplace to be filmed while Mommy dearest fluffs herself for the cameras. TLC is lower than lower allowing this to continue also. They all will continue to push these kids to the limits and I fear they only thing that will stop the filming is a breakdown of one or more of the kids. Now Kate will be crying on the Today show again and saying the kids love the filming and they need the money, blah, blah, blah. The networks are as guilty as TLC also. I don't know how they all can sleep peacefully at night knowing they are destroying 8 kids childhood, I sure couldn't.

http://www.understandingprejudice.org/teach/native.htm
Many U.S. teachers discuss Native American history and culture, especially at Thanksgiving time. Unfortunately, the portrayal of Native Americans is often stereotypical, inaccurate, or outdated. This page offers several tips on how to teach more effectively about Native Americans.

Do not let children to imitate Indians with stereotypes such as one-word sentences ("Ugh," "How"), Hollywood-style grammar ("Me heep big hungry"), or gestures (e.g., war whoops and tomahawk chops).

Do not encourage children to dress up as Indians for Halloween. Even when well-intentioned, costumes involving imitation feathers, face paint, headdresses, and buckskin are disrespectful of traditional Native dress (which many Indians consider honorable or even sacred).
-------
But we wouldn't expect Kate OR TLC to have a clue, now would we?

Well, we all heard about the "many, many ideas" kHate and The Lousy Channel had in store for the show. Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse ... staged, costumed photo ops! Lucky for us kHate is tutoring her kids as she has absolutely NO CLUE about history or what is appropriate.

Coming soon to a TLC-owned website near you:

Christmas Episode
Watch as kHate leaves the kids on the roof and makes them come down the chimney to get into the house.

MLK Day
The children are all dressed in black-face and paraded around the Kompound.

Valentines Day
Each kid is deprived of clothing and given a bow with arrows to 'shoot the sibling they love most.'

Independence Day
The little ones are given muskets and forced to wear Red Coats while kHate shoots bottle rockets at them from the roof.

This is all reminiscent of Kathy Lee Gifford's whole drama back in the 90's. I'm no fan of hers either, but at least she took a breather and went home to try to heal her family and save her reputation. And she does have talents to fall back on. Kate is hopeless. She's got nothing to offer so she'll glady exploit not only her children, but the crap they're just beginning to go through as they step out into a world that they can't relate to because of what she's done to them. She's going to feed on it like a parasitic leech. This is not going to have a good ending, whether it comes tomorrow or ten years from now.

Are we SURE that is Alexis? It looks more like Hannah to me. Hannah is the one who is standing in the exact same pose in 4 pictures, even looking like she may have been photoshopped into 2 of them - she lookes like a little plastic doll in two of the pictures, so very, very small.

I've been wrong before though, so may be off base here.

I'm convinced that SHE'S the one who leaked the story about the kids being expelled, because she knew people would talk about it and she'd worm her way back onto talk shows to discuss it.

She is despicable.

She will totally be dishing on the dirt about the kids, and throwing more dirt at Jon.

Why these news outlets give her a platform is beyond baffling. Then again, they are the same news outlets that welcome Heidi and Spencer. They have no decency to shoo away the Hollywood lowlifes and stop giving them attention.

I thought it was Alexis because she looked smaller than Hannah and her hair looked thinner. I could be wrong.

Hannah or Alexis it doesn't matter, point is the children are still hitting each other and expressing themselves in a very negative and violent manner. This child is literally making a FIST at Joel and Joel is just standing there taking it, not even ducking for pity sake. He has learned to be a doormat and she has learned to wipe her boots on him.

Have you noticed it's almost always a girl hitting a boy??? Gee wonder where they learned that behavior.

We try harder said...

I guess I could get in trouble with this but it was a while back. I was on a flight, not a psgr., so you figure it out.

Ms. G's kids ran around, fought with each other, tapped psgrs as they walked by, Mrs. G slept (probably those couple of glasses of wine and perhaps some transquilizers she seems to take to fly....not a good flier like she want us to believe.....neither do her children fly well....on a combo of Benadryl and Tylenol. Oh yeah. It was a coast to coast flight. The kids woke up sick half way thru the flight, almost all vomited, except the twins. Mrs. G. couldn't be woken up. Some gal who was flying with her was trying to take care of the 8 kids, even those twin girls helped us, the producer and a camera crew member along with that grey haired bodyguard and a woman bodyguard were cleaning the kids off. We washed out tee shirts of the worse ones, and the kids gladly put them on wet and sat down. this was reported to the captain. He was going to call ahead to ask for ground assistance with 5 sick children, vomiting. The bodyguard said it wasn't necessary. Mrs. G. never woke up until after we landed and was "confused, groggy" put on her shoes, we had the kids off the plane before her with the male bodyguard and a woman bodyguard. they were in the limo and she was being driven from the gate at LAX to the limo. Baggage was picked up by someone who put it in an SVU and it all met up with the G's at the hotel. I helped to wake her up and she was very rude to me. I figured that she was embarrassed but then on the flight back, there I was again, had changed with a friend for the return flight. She was mean, the kids slept and we didn't have much vomiting because we kept the meals light. After they woke up, we fed them toast with butter. those little kids were hungry. We kept them on carbs, bowls of macaroni and cheese and as much as they wanted. They were happy, didn't fight with each other and the Bodyguard handled everything. They like him and they listen to him and we listened to him. Back home, they were taken to the limo, she was awoken after we had landed, again groggy.

Never a thank you. We get paid, we don't need to be thanked, but it is nice when you are responsible for someone's kids while they sleep for 5 hours, quite comfortable.

Now, I will tell you, many people have a glass of wine or a drink, done a couple of transquilizers or a sleeping pill. It is dangerous but their fear of flying is worse, so the worse they will have is a tremendous headache, unless taking other medications and shouldn't be drinking alcohol and especially at that elevation.

When Ms. G flys by herself, with a minor entourage, she does get first class. No one approaches her, talks thru her people to her.

Reminds me of certain celebrities that hate flight attendants and we are not allowed to speak to them, but must go thu their "rep" on the plane.

If that plane had an emergency, she would probably talk to us as she walked over her rep, can guarantee you that.

All I can say is when on a plane with her kids, she acts like they are not hers. we work hard.

A couple of us wrote this tonight, over a glass of wine. We were comparing celebrities who are nice to us. first of all I think a lot of celebrities would be angry to see Kate on their D List. Cause Kate has no talent at all, no comedy, nothing, a joke maybe, but mean. She is mean. We all agree on that

Classic confusion of the issues. Instead of explaining why it's okay for the children to dress in a stereotypical and offensive way, they talk about nuns and gay people. When has anyone here ever said it's okay to dress in an offensive manner? The fact that we are pointing out that dressing up like this is offensive doesn't mean that other things aren't equally or more offensive. Why would anyone be randomly talking about the thousands of other things that are offensive in the world when the topic of this post is the Gosselin Thanksgiving? I'm sure there is a blog out there for pregnant nuns where people can talk to their heart's content about how offensive that is, but if I opened this blog up to every single issue in the world we could possibly debate I'd need a staff the size of Facebook's!

Instead of confusing the issues, here are some suggestions for a counterpoint to our point: The children are only 6 this is harmless. At least the children are learning about Thanksgiving. We have no idea if Kate put them in these costumes--maybe a nanny did. Maybe the kids wanted to wear the costumes themselves and cried when an adult tried to explain it wasn't PC. Does that get ya'll (or, ye few) started? :)

I believe it, there was an episode of this useless mother on a train heading to NY with kids and several nannies in tow. She is half zonked on who knows what, wrapped in a blanket. The kids were talking amongst themselves and one of the older kids was asking her something but my point is, she never got her ass up from that seat and underneath that blanket. Jon was the one who washed, dressed and did the entertaining while this woman did all the complaining. I'm sorry but if I were the airline attendant on that plane I'd wake the bitch up and make her tend to them 8 kids she had. The kids are prone to seasickness, maybe they get airsick too.

This flight attendant could be anyone but it certainly gives me pause after a blogger posted pics and also said the kids were vomiting on his flight too--that was a different flight altogether, the Alaska flight.

I think air sickness, or possibly stress. Remember awhile ago Kate explaining that some of the girls vomit when they are upset. Maybe all the "pressure" Kate says they are feeling manifests in these vomiting episodes.

One of my good friends from elementary always vomited when she spent the night away from home. She had to get it out of her system and then she was fine. It was an anxiety thing. She is doing just great now, is a lawyer who just got married.

The photos, the costumes ... all of it is so inappropriate on so many levels. But I'll have to start with my most basic complaint: it was SNOWING here Thanksgiving morning ... a wet snow that stuck for just a few hours, but it was FREEZING here on Thursday. Clearly the photo-op was more important than dressing these kids appropriately for the weather.

So I'm guessing that the kick-line of privacy trees designed by purse-boy is a bust? How else (cough cough) could our lone paparazzo get all these money shots????

Not sure why I'm shocked by all of this, as it's consistent with Kate's complete disregard for her kids' well-being, privacy, and any semblance of a normal childhood.

Tucker, who really knows. A good lie is full of details, as this is. And I think if someone wanted to pull people's leg they wouldn't talk about an incident from six months ago. Seems to me this person thought it over for a long time before finally deciding to disclose what she saw. Someone telling a lie wouldn't agonize over it like that.

However we do have an independent account from a prominent blogger about the Alaska trip who said the SAME THING, the kids are out of control and vomiting. He even posted pics. He would have no reason to lie, he had zero connection with anyone in the Gosselin world and he was a prominent blogger who doesn't want to get sued for libel.

I'd love to interview that flight attendant further about her harrowing experience. I like that it is becoming more socially acceptable to speak out when a bystander sees something wrong with this family. It may not help but closing your mouth certainly will NOT help we know that for sure.

*****

Harrowing experience? Melodramatic much?

If this flight attendant were to post that she had a positive experience, you and your posters would be thumbing your noses at the anonymous source, calling it BS. However, when it's what you want to hear, it's taken as gospel. Do you realize that anyone could come up with that story? It may be true, it may not, but anyone who was around for the Pennmommy fiasco should know better than to believe everything you read.

Nothing But Gossip, it's simply not true that we believe everything we hear. READ this thread, most of us are saying we don't know if this is true. Heck my post just before this said "who really knows." That's hardly believing everything I hear. Most of us are highly skeptical of things we hear, there were some nasty fights here from a lot of people who did not want to believe the kids were not in school and that Shoka was back, people thought the photos of Alexis and Collin with the dog were fake! That's hardly jumping on something and believeing it. What's funny is a lot of things we refuse to believe at first turn out to be true. I'm tired of the false accusation that we are a bunch of stupid people who believe the rag mags, it's just not true. Most people here are quite reasonable and discerning.

This is not the first person on an airplane to speak out, there was one much more credible account from a prominent blogger who had no reason to lie. Where is the lawsuit against him if what he said was so false? He did not say anything over the top or outrageous, his account was quite credible, restrained, and including photos. I do believe that one and I'm not apologizing for that.

If anyone is believing everything they hear it's Kate's fans believing everything good about her and refusing to believe anything bad about her and rejecting each and every encounter someone posts about. It's like it's 1492 and we're trying to convince them the world is round. They will not believe it until someone actually had to sail a ship in that direction and prove they didn't fall off the flat plane.

Got anything else besides EVERYONE out there is lying about Kate and Kate is the ONLY ONE telling the truth???

))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Again, the sheeple strike. Deflect, deflect, deflect. I've never dressed my children up randomly for Thanksgiving. I don't recall any Koreans hanging around with the Indians or Pilgrims. If the other children got to do some sort of 1950s inspired play of the first Thanksgiving at the school I still wouldn't indulge the two that were expelled by re-enacting it at home.

Administrator said...

Don't you wish sometimes we could teach a class on how to make an argument? Remedial of course.

We made our point: Dressing in stereotypical "Indian" costumes is offensive and politically incorrect and teaches children nothing about real Native American culture. It is a relic of the 50's and we know better now.

We wait for a counterpoint from Kate's fans. How will they defend this one? Eight hours later, we finally get "would you be upset at pregnant nuns??"

Basically their argument is, other things are offensive. So not only did they not respond to our argument AT ALL, they are also essentially admitting this is offensive. Because their argument implies that this is offensive but so are other things like pregnant nuns. If this weren't offensive, then why would pregnant nuns be offensive?

Note, here is how you make a counter-argument: Address what we are saying head on. Don't deflect onto other irrelevant issues like pregnant nuns. Weak. Don't turn it around on the poster and insult them or their children. Pathetic. Keep it to the issue at hand. Comments like "you hate everything Kate does you are a hater" is not responding to our points. Nor is "leave Kate alone and mind your own business!" You need to explain why our opinion is wrong. For example, "America is far too politically correct and we need to loosen up and let kids have fun and enjoy the holidays and if they can't even have fun with it because we're too uptight, they'll never learn,"--THAT is a counter-argument to what we are saying. Pregnant nuns is not.

So still waiting for the counter-point to this whole thing.

Has it occurred to anyone that Kate only does the ET and Today shows to fire up all of negative press? That she is actually making her living by having us write about her all of the time?

She is too well prepped not to have had a better answer for Mary Hart when asked if Kate plus 8 was going to continue.

I firmly believe she said that "The kids would be devastated" on purpose just to fire up the presses. Just my opinion...

Of course it's occured to us come on now we've been discussing whether we're being played for a year. There's just no way to prove it one way or the other.

I also thought Kate's inflection and tone was a bit "odd" when she said oh no the kids would be devastated! It was a bit too enthusiastic, like a bad actress reading a line. And maybe it was.

PHOTOS: Kate Gosselin's Weekend Without The Kids

Kate Gosselin was snapped running errands Saturday -- and RadarOnline.com has all the photos!

Kate was out and working the cold weather in Reading, Pennsylvania, looking absolutely fabulous while rocking a pair of mid-calf boots, grey leggings and a body fitting puff coat.

PHOTOS: Gosselin Kids Get Dramatic Hand-Over From Kate To Jon

While Kate spent Thanksgiving with her kids, she took some time out for herself to run around the city.

While Kate and ex-hubby Jon have called a holiday truce, RadarOnline.com can reveal that Kate has still not met Jon's girlfriend of six months Ellen Ross.

PHOTOS: Kate Gosselin Is Salon Chic In NYC

While Ellen actively helps Jon when he spends time with he and Kate's eight kids, the two women have still never actually spoken face to face.

After Jon and Kate’s marriage collapsed, Jon enjoyed a string of ill-fated romances with the likes of Hailey Glassman, Kate Major and Morgan Christie.

But he finally seems to have found stability with pretty 24-year-old Ellen, a Pennsylvania government employee.

I remember one episode of J&K + 8 where Kate said that whenever Leah got upset or couldn't have her own way, she'd throw up on purpose. Kare went on to say that whenever Leah attempted that, Kate would always tell her that she'd have to stay in her stained, vomited-on clothes then, to teach her a lesson to not throw up simply b/c you can't get your own way.

In my opinion, Alexis and Collin may not have been expelled, they may have to be taught at home because of their poor grade and inability to focus, in the school district I work for they never put siblings in the same classroom, we have a set of quads this year in Kindergarten ( Missouri does not offer Jr. K ) and one girl in particular has been put in a special intervention group one on one so she can learn to correct her letters and follow curriculum with everyone else, tho I might think some behavior problems are also present it might not be the only factor. Let's say having your main parent go to LA every 4 days and leave you with how knows who this week might be a pushing issue as well. I wonder if the kids want to hold on to those memories Kate?

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm tired of the "get off your high horse," "get a grip," "you're holier than thou," "your posts are disgusting and nauseating," "you're out of your mind," etc. etc., ESPECIALLY when the other person is being respectful in a post, just trying to make a point, and doesn't resort to name-calling. For a poster to come back with a "get a life" just because he/she doesn't agree with someone's opinion, is just not cool. It also violates posting rule #2, "no insulting other posters or picking fights...treat people here like you would talk to the person you most respect in your life."

When a poster has to respond in this way, it shows that he/she really can't debate an issue with any degree of civility, and makes them look like a bully. Their posts appear to be much less credible when their replies contain nasty insults.

I'm not sure about the flight attendant's story. Not to say that it's impossible for Kate to act like that, or for the kids to be vomiting, but some of the phrasing and language in the account sounds like something that was written by teenagers gathered around a computer during a sleep-over. There's just something about it that makes me think it's not legit.

Did anyone else get red flags about the credibility of this, or am I the lone turkey here? Again, I don't doubt that this scenario was possible - I'm just questioning this particular account of what happened.

No, I did not get that at all. As the flight attendant said, a group of them were sitting around drinking wine and decided to post the story. There were probably a couple of them sitting around the computer and they dashed it off. It did not sound like teenagers to me, IMO.

If anyone wanted to do some sleuthing, the flight attendant report should be fairly simple to prove or disprove. What airline was this? Date? Does this particular airline serve meals? Do the kids fly in first class? What were the kids wearing (poster says tee shirts)...if there are photos of the girls were wearing dresses, well...

Are there pictures of them walking around in the airport at LAX or waiting for baggage? Poster says Kate got into a limo at the gate and the baggage was loaded into an SUV and taken to the hotel. How did she/he know this? Did she follow them to the hotel? Did she follow the person who picked up the baggage and took it to the SUV?

Again, not doubting it, just asking some questions that should be fairly easy to answer for the internet-savy detective!

The account of the flight attendants feeding the children toast in response to their vomiting was a red flag for me. I fly very often, and I have never heard of toast being served to anyone on a flight. They don't have toasters on airplanes, and pre-toasted bread would not be something that would be served. If it had been posted that they fed the kids crackers, I might not have questioned it so much, but toast - I don't believe that. Also, although not as improbable; I have never heard of mac and cheese as an option for a meal on a flight, even for children.

I just want to clarify two points that many seem to be confused about:

I have been watching TLC all day Saturday because they had a marathon of old "48 Hours Murder Mysterys". They ran pop-up reminders all day advertising Kate Plus 8 this coming Sunday at 9pm. It doesn't matter what your local tv guide says or doesn't say about whether Kate Plus 8 will be on Sunday. It will be on unfortunately.

ALso, Kate never said they she will be tutoring the kids. She said a teacher will be tutoring them.

My brother could make himself vomit at will. He wasn't a nervous puker, but he would vomit any food he was forced to eat, any medicine he was forced to take, etc. It was a disgusting, bratty behavior and you better believe he was punished for it, not hugged and coddled and quickly changed into fresh clothes.

My son has never been an intentional puker, but when little he gagged on EVERYTHING and vomited way more often than an average child. It didn't seem to bother him at all. If it happened, we knew he wasn't actually sick, so would certainly clean him up or whatever, but tried to treat it the same as if he had knocked over his milk so he didn't realize what a "weapon" he possessed.

I guess my point is that with my experience I saw the "you better not throw up in Sunday School" scene as the tup using vomiting as a brat weapon rather than the poor child was so nervous she might puke. Now being in a drug and alcohol induced coma while others deal with your puking children on a long flight is quite another story...

"Has it occurred to anyone that Kate only does the ET and Today shows to fire up all of negative press? That she is actually making her living by having us write about her all of the time?"

I've often thought this myself. Any publicity is good publicity and makes money. Kate is so desperate for the limelight that she'll play it any way it takes. ie. The Emmy's. She doesn't care what people think of her and is laughing all the way to the bank. Unfortunately it's all at her kids expense. Filming and publicly talking about their most intimate and private moments is going to scar them for life. She made the decision to put her kids "out there" for the public to scrutinize their every movement. They had no say in it and no choice. All in the name of greed, fame, and money.

The media should be ashamed of themselves for allowing and encouraging her to do this. The soft interviews make me sick. Meredith and Mary let her get away with skirting every question. She never gives a straight answer especially if it is going to make her look bad. I'm disgusted with the lot of them. As long as they are playing the game the Gosselin children don't have a chance in hell for a normal life. I'm starting to think it's too late for that now anyway. Very, very sad situation. Now right before the custody hearing she pulls all this Super Mom stuff. I am also very disappointed in Jon. If he wants his children so badly why is he living in a one bedroom apartment? How much more could a 3 bedroom be? A few hundred more a month? In the infamous words of Kate, "I just don't get it."

dee3 said...

Maybe I'm being waayy too optimistic here, but I don't feel 100% sure that Kate WILL get a pass on the Today Show. These are no longer the days when everyone gave her a pass and no TV hosts criticized her.

And I find it difficult to believe that TLC would STILL think they have a chance to rehabilitate her image as a sympathetic mom....and why even do that when the non-fans now outnumber the fans in huge numbers? If they wanted to keep her relevant, the only sensible business option would be to focus on what everyone hates about her.

At this point, her small army of fans will love her no matter what she does or says....but to attract any of the non-fans as viewers, the way to go would be to keep the spotlight on demonizing her.

Also, IMO...had TLC wanted to refute the claims about the expulsion by having her answer a question on TV regarding it, they could have done a heck of a better job prepping her for it...than just allowing her to wing it like she did. And why allow photos to be taken on Thanksgiving of the little girl huddling and looking like she was not dressed warmly enough?

I'm not saying I'm right...but the business decision that would make sense would be to start allowing her to be on the hot-seat during TV interviews. I mean, long gone are the days of Kate as the "sympathetic mom"....so it would look ridiculous, IMO, to give her yet another pass. Why even bother to do that? Let's face it, only the fans, at this point, would even be remotely interested in staying tuned for her usual interview..BUT...many non-fans would LOVE and stay tuned to see her asked the tough questions...and given a hardball interview.

Allowing her to be cross-examined and to have her feet held to the fire would be the one thing that would be almost guaranteed to give her another 15 minutes of fame.
I guess the big question would be...just how far would SHE allow TLC to go (regarding how detestable they decide to portray her) in order to remain on TV?

Another gut feeling I have...and this is just my opinion, of course...is that there is no romantic relationship going on between Kate and Steve...at least as far as Steve is concerned.
He may just be doing a great job at playing Judas.

Why do we never hear a word from his wife? Why are his teen sons, certainly old enough to figure out what would be going on IF something was going on, agree to play with the G. children, go to holiday dinners at the G. house, etc?

Look, I know Steve can be obnoxious when it comes to "guarding" Kate. And though good-looking, he IS rather short, apparently.
BUT he certainly has enough going for him and has enough self-esteem than to choose to get into a relationship with a woman who, from all reports, seems to be one of the nastiest narcissists he's probably ever encountered in his life.

Kate would have to be the world's greatest dynamo in bed to even begin to explain this...which I highly doubt.
It seems that he DOES really care about the children and is very good with them and they care about him too...but that would not be enough to compel him to leave his marriage and get involved with the likes of Kate.

I believe, at this point, that he is paid by TLC to babysit Kate....and his wife knows all about the situation and the paycheck he gets is well worth it to her...and to him.
And these reports of Steve and Kate seen touching legs on the beach, etc.?
I think he's playing along and pretending in order to keep her happy and keep her in line....as TLC is paying him to do. The question is...does Kate know and is playing along too? Or does she think he's being genuine?

Save the kids said...

I say Jon needs to go to court and put a gag order on her so she won't be able to talk to the media freely about his kids personal life, I know I would if I were him. She can talk about her make believe show never happening and her hair extensions and fake nails and boobs, who cares, what else does she have. When it comes to the kids he needs to get a gag order and shut her up, it can be done, he needs to get off his ass and do it.

========================================

An anonymous poster who seemed to know a lot about what's going on with this family suggested that Mrs. Gosselin WANTS people to think she's sleeping with Neild, but that there is no sexual involvement.

This explanation fits perfectly with what is known about Gosselin. She wants to be manipulating what others think, she'd like people to envy her ability to "catch" a stereotypically handsome older (employed) man, and she's physically as cold as they come.

This woman personifies emotional and physical detachment, and her motivators are all power and control over weaker beings. It makes no sense that she would actually be sleeping with a man who felt he had a choice, or who was well-disciplined enough to do the job Neild has been doing with her. He doesn't look weak enough to fall for her. Not in a million years.

But yes, I think it very likely she needs/wants to believe that her babysitter finds her delightful. And I think her disgusted keeper does exactly what he has to so that she's kept in line, but no way do I believe that he's sleeping with her.

He's got choices. She's the one who doesn't, but, more importantly, she only cares about the perception. The idea of drooling sheeple believing that she's sleeping with him is probably very satisfying for Gosselin. That's completely consistent with everything that's known about her.

Apparently, Kate was seen out and about in gray leggings, puffy jacket and boots with a fairly long sweater under the jacket. She sure can't style her hair herself...it looks great at times (for appearances)and like hell at others (when she does it herself).

But for crying out loud....are leggings and long sweaters back in style again? I used to have some really nice ones, back in the...90's, was it? Wonder if I still have them.

I remember it being okay to be able to see your leggings-clad butt when you leaned over....but when the fad wore out, suddenly it was a huge embarrassment not to have your butt covered up. This revival of the style intrigues me...and I'm wondering just how short the sweaters are allowed to be this time around.
And is it necessary to wear them with boots to be totally in-style? Or the footwear doesn't really matter?

I look forward to seeing what happens (and a hopeful lambasting) on Wednesday.

About the flight attendant story. IF it's true, and IF she is sedating her children, well, I don't think that's right at all. There is something called Dramamine, & that works just fine. And passing your children off to strangers to clean them up? WTF? I know Steve was there, but still. Who the hell does she think she is? Madonna? Even Madonna I doubt would do that. My GF said that the latest gossip is that if the next installment of K+8 tanks, it's off the air.

Also TLC can get Kate the jobs on ET, thus SWTS because if ET doesn't give them publicity then they will not allow ET to interview their other stars. Sounds right to me.

Also GF said that our dear beloved Kate is turning to Poison after this bit with the kids and her latest interview with ET. Real talented people hate that she made the money on TLC with K+8, like $200, 000 + expenses and they know the kids are in need of parental help, etc.

Real talent with weekly shows does not make that kind of money and therefore, she devil is not permitted into the inner circle, so ET gave her SWTS because no one wants to be interviewed by her as a reporter from ET.

Yes, GF admits Hollywood is fickle and K.G. may just get that fickle finger right up her arse if she doesn't stop trying to publicize the kid's and lying about it.

Yeah, I think she is now down to 10 minutes and counting. Seems also that SWTS is being moved to Ct.

Only what I heard folks.

There are lots of good, hard working people in the "industry" who are not "fond" of reality personalities.

Looks like she has "sunk her own ship when it sailed" and word is that she is broke.

She was waiting for all the offers, which did come in, after DWTS but her negative factor is higher right now than it was before she did SWTS.

Only telling you what I heard. GF said you can be hot one minute in LA and the next minute homeless. It is not a forgiving town either.

What I also learned is that not one real Star posed with her on The Red Carpet at the Emmy Show.

Sorry about the spelling folks, just in a hurry. Anyhow, if Kate doesn't do well with those kids and change her demanding ways (even make up people don't like her and that really is the kiss of death in LA) than what does that tell you. They are not servants, the make up people have a lot of power and they talk.

Great post...and I totally agree with you.

There may be plenty of negative things one might be able to say about Steve....but there is no way in hell that he would be romantically interested in her. Not on this planet. From what I've read, Kate's a hundred times worse in person than what we see on TV or on the internet...and much more abusive to the children in real life...and Steve seems to really like the children.

Anyone who would overlook that would have to have massive issues of his own....way more than Steve appears to have.

The other thing that convinces me is the fact that his wife has stayed totally mum on the entire thing. Not a peep out of her. And would teen boys be okay with hanging out at the house of their father's paramour, who might very well cause their family to split-up? No way.

The ONLY thing that might make sense is if he was only after her money....but he appears to be fairly well-off on his own and it's difficult to believe Kate's amassed a fortune, not to mention that her star is fading. And she clearly does not share anything that belongs to her with a spouse and certainly not with an ex. Plus take on 8 young children, some with behavior problems?

What I find amusing, though, is wondering whether or not it occurs to her that it's not very complimentary to herself to think that the only man romantically interested in her is being paid to be in her company....although narcissist that she is, she doesn't care what others think of her as long as she remains in the spotlight.

------------------------
Maybe he has a job. He was dressed like he did the last time he was photographed picking up the kids. Jon has decided to live a private life. Do you feel he owes it to you to tell you he has a job? Do you issue a press release every time you get hired for a job?

I wish the Sheeple would come up with a better defense for Kate's behavior and choices than continuing to deflect back to Jon.

Gosselin8ComeFirst said...

I was never sure why Jon sold his soul to the devil by signing a contract with TLC which allowed continue filming of his kids. Except for the obvious, that his child support would be paid by TLC- not sure of the exact figure, but that this money would go to the children's needs, in exchange for him not getting a job in the entertainment field. Don't think it limits other non-entertainment jobs. Not sure how long this contract lasts either.

What bothers me most is that a contract with TLC should have nothing to do with custody or parenting issues. I still don't get why Jon can not have the kids with him, as opposed to a nanny, when Kate is off in LA, etc... even if it is her "custody time." There is something really wrong with him not being able to stay at the kids' house (it is in trust to them, right?) while Kate is away. And the fact that he is not even allowed on the property. Why? I don't get it.

Something is really wrong here, and whatever it is, it needs to change. If Jon is refusing to care for the kids in the McMansion unless Ellen can be there, then shame on him. But something is just not right. Not sure how it got to this point, but it seems now more than ever, the kids need some consistentcy and if Kate is not around, why can't the kids stay in their own home with Jon there? I hate to keep raising this issue, but for the sake of the kids, I am completely puzzled why Jon can't be at the house when Kate isn't there. This would certainly beat ever changing nannies in the mix, rather than their father. If anyone can answer this question, or make sense of it, it would be appreciated. Whatever the case might be, seems to me, that something needs to drastically change asp, and hopefully will be addressed at the upcoming hearings.

Please make no mistake, I am no Kate fan. Quite the contrary. She disgusts me, as she insists that the show must go on, that her kids would fall apart if they were not filming and is so obviously all about herself. Thanks for any answers you can provide. My concern lies with having someone there advocating for the kids with all that has gone on. And pushing to do the right thing for the kids.

By the way, I will NOT be watching tonight and haven't been for a long time, as adding to viewer ratings only keeps the show alive with the kids still required to be in filming mode.

I agree with several points that have been made here - flight story is questionable, snotty remarks add nothing to the discussion, Kate will not be asked the hard questions, Jon needs to get a job, Kate needs a gag order, etc.

I want to add that somewhere I either read or saw on television someone being interveiw about reality shows in general and they stated that the producers look for individuals with mental problems or who exhibit extreme behaviour. They said it made for good television and ratings. From what I have seen of reality tv shows I feel that is the case. I guess it would be mighty boring for the audience to see everyday activities with normal behaviours - grocery shopping, house cleaning, laundry, driving children to various activities, all the while getting along with everyone would be too boring.

Skeptical said...

Moose, I'm with you. The first red flag for me was when the poster said she "guessed" she could get in trouble. I don't think there is any guessing involved, and I'm sure a real flight attendant would KNOW they could get in trouble.

Second red flag, knowing about the luggage pick up, etc. I think flight attendants see celebrities all the time and I'm doubtful they dash to the luggage pick up to spy where and who's picking up the luggage.

And flag three was the toast and mac/cheese, washing out the kids clothes.

I'm very skeptical.

Last Thanksgiving, Christmas & Easter the articles all specifically stated that Gina was at the orphanage, this Thanksgiving the article specifically names Steve and labels one of the pics as Steve's son. That is the solid proof to me that Gina was NOT there. I agree with you that it is very odd for Steve to celebrate at the orphanage on a major holiday without his "wife". It could have been someone in Khate's entourage that is trying to get the word out surreptiously, under the guise of an attendant, hopefully to try and help the kids. It is nice to hear that Steve is good to the kids and that they like him. Very good to know. Poor kids. My heart aches for them. Even I had not watched them go from diapers to pullups to jeans I would still feel the same but much worse after having done so.

Flight Attendant Story:

Does it really matter if it is 100% true or not? Do we not already have a history to observe kHATE's behavior and lack of parenting skills? Her narcissism and selfishness aren't hurt or improved by this story, but it does seem plausible to me.

Most of what I read online about the shrew is speculative - it's passed around from blog to gossip site and back many times to the point where we assume it is accurate.

One thing that isn't ambiguous is Mommy Dearest's behavior. By her own craving for attention we have it all on film. The fake body parts. Desperate attire and begging for a "man' in nearly every interview. Complete disregard for her kids - and the sudden change in demeanor when she is away from those kids. Her diva attitude towards anyone she comes across and the condescending tone she takes with everyone.

For me, one of the kookiest things about their fishbowl life is how her supporters twist anything into Jon's fault and seem to ignore what their hero does and doesn't do. It's creepy! I cant figure out if people are seriously that dumb or if she really has a paid PR staff that large.

Mickey McKean- Thanks for the post and another reason NOT to watch the show tonight. Although we all post on this board, the most effective way to get the kids away from filming and to give them some much needed privacy is to tank the ratings by not watching.

All of our comments will not amount to a hill of beans, if we ignore the obvious way to get the kids some privacy by not watching, which is ultimately the goal. You Tube etc.. are available at a later date, so hopefully, in spite of the morbid curiousity factor, folks will refrain from watching the show tonight, in an effort to restore the children's privacy, by poor ratings. These actions can actually make a difference in whether the show will continue. And the kids get a shot at a normal life. Not trying to be "preachy" but rather pragmatic where we can actually make an impact for the kids.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Nobody said anything about stalking the flight attendant to get her fired. You're reading things that just aren't there.

Skeptical was responding directly to YOUR post about stalking the flight attendant and made a typo, thus resulting in "talk" instead of "stalk." She said, "Wow! I missed the suggestion we talk the flight attendant."

If she had meant "talk," she would have said, "I missed the suggestion we talk TO the flight attendant." She didn't. It's clear that you missed this typo. Then you pulled up administrator's post that referenced "interviewing" the flight attendant and you said "there you go." Again, there was no mention of "stalking" anyone. Interviewing someone is NOT stalking, the latter of which is to follow someone persistently, out of an obsession (or derangement) for that person.

There are some people who like to play amateur detective and check out photos, news articles on the web. I only mentioned this in my post because there has been much discussion about the flight attendant's story and I would think that it wouldn't be rocket science to prove or disprove it. Looking up what airlines serve meals, and what airlines have toasters most definitely isn't stalking! Unless, of course, you have a weird fascination with toasters.

Correct. I was saying that inquiring minds enjoy sleuthing out these kinds of things. Personally, it doesn't bother me one way or the other, although I am curious about washing out the tee shirts, putting wet tee shirts back on a child and not having the child complain about it. For some reason, I just can't imagine that. Wouldn't they have a carry-on with extra shirts in it? I always put an extra tee and shorts in the carry-on for my kids.

Oh, wait...this is Kate, the organizer, who didn't think far enough ahead to throw extra shirts in a tote bag for the Disney trip, or a pair of sandals in a bag for the New York trip, or shirts in a bag for deep-sea fishing.

Re TLC's Programming

I've got Dish Network and per my listings there is NO Kate + 8 on TV tonight. There is, however, a TO BE ANNOUNCED at 8:00 pm PST right after a new episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska.

For those who program their DVRs to record all Kate+8, this will obviously not automatically record. As for anyone surfing the channels tonight out of boredom they will not wind up finding and watching Kate's show either.

So it seems to me that only those people from the blogs know about the show, as well as people who normally watch TLC and have seen the promos. Still if one does not see a listing they may not look to find it under TO BE ANNOUNCED either. At least I hope not.

Yes I'm sure the show will air tonight but with it not being listed on the guide on TV I am hoping this means that TLC is getting ready to dump this show. As it is I've got my fingers and toes crossed that this will result in under a million viewers, and with no listing it will be interesting to see how many people wind up watching the show.

At one time an internship on ET was a highly coveted thing, the competition intense. Nowadays, a Kate Gosselin is handed a mike and named a correspondent. They did the same with Paula Abdul, Marie Osmond and many others. They think eyeballs will follow these people to ET. With Kate it likely does because she interviews as well as she dances. Only when people get truly sick of Kate will these gigs dry up and she booted off tv.

Mickey, clearly there is some mutual back-scratching going on, no surpirse there. I'm just wondering, as another poster did, what other TLC stars do ET interview and second, why does TLC care so much about Kate getting publicity? If K+8 is tanking there is no shortage of up & coming trainwrecks to take its place. Why are they knocking their heads against the wall for this chick.

And to the poster who said a normal family would be boring to watch...I guess that's true since Table for Twelve was cancelled. I for one enjoyed that show but I guess we who can look away from trainwrecks are the minority these days. Sad.

Well, I see that today Comcast has prominently placed a video on its homepage of Kate's interview with Mary Hart and the expulsion. What an obvious ratings ploy for tonight's episode, and it is further proof that the gawk factor will bring higher ratings for Kate and TLC.

I find myself oddly obsessed with following Kate and her horrible behavior (on this and another site only. I do NOT watch the show.). I think it's because I, like many of you, believe she will be called out at some point for her treatment of the kids. Yet, inexplicably, it never happens.

As a teacher, I feel that one of my responsibilities is to advocate for children, as they cannot speak for themselves. That is why I choose to teach at a Title One (high poverty) public school. Many of my students have rough home lives, but they are generally stoic and accepting of their situations. These are wonderful children who are respectful and grateful for what little they have, and teaching them is a joyful experience for me. I believe strongly that the Gosselin kids have it worse than my students, because you can see from their facial expressions, body language, and behavior that they are miserable. All their material wealth does not take away their pain.

Expulsion of a kindergartner is very rare, and I have only seen it happen one time in my 21 year career. This boy had to be removed from school because he was a menace to other children, punching them with closed fists, and he tried to choke my assistant. So for two of them to be expelled is an extremely serious situation. Don't be fooled by Kate's deflection of Mary's question. Those children were most definitely expelled. Some posters have speculated that the two were not mature enough for kindergarten and could not keep up with the curriculum; while this may be true, it is not a reason for expulsion. I have checked the school's website, and it has a very developmentally appropriate curriculum. If these kids were struggling academically, the school would work with them this year, exposing them to the regular lessons and giving extra intervention as needed. It would only be at the END of the year that the school would recommend retention or placement at another school.

I have no idea if the kids were or were not expelled, but you can't compare expulsion from public school to expulsion from private school. Private schools are under no obligation to enroll any child or keep them enrolled. They establish the rules as they see fit. Public schools, on the other hand, have to abide by due process and other legal protocols because children have a right to a public education. It's an apples and oranges comparison.

---------------------

The kids were in Pre-K there last year. It may very well be that the parents were informed then that the kids were not academically ready for Kindergarten, and they were placed in this year's class "on probation," meaning that if they couldn't get on track with the curriculum, that they would be withdrawn from the class. They would have been given the opportunity to catch up. It is not true that they would wait until the end of the year if they saw that these children were struggling - why make them suffer through an entire year, especially if they were having behavior issues as a result of being academically challenged?

The problem with reviewing websites is that this is not an absolute. Each situation is reviewed individually, with the most appropriate means of dealing on a case by case basis. If the student couldn't keep up with the curriculum, the parents will be asked to withdraw the child. One can call it expulsion, but technically it isn't. It's mandatory withdrawal, and yes, I have seen it happen, even in Kindergarten. Anyone can sit on the sidelines and say yes, they most definitely were expelled, but unless one actually teaches there, or is in an administrative position, or is personally familiar with the school and its policies, then he/she really does not know the particulars of this situation and cannot say with one hundred percent certainty that if the kids couldn't keep up it is no reason for expulsion. It's a matter of semantics. Mandatory withdrawal would not go down on their academic record as expulsion.

Regarding the flight attendant discussion: The macaroni and cheese meals may have been the pre-ordered meals for the children. No way either K8 or the nannies packed food for those children on those flights, and mac-and-cheese is one of those pre-fab, microwave dishes that work well on planes.

Washing out the shirts? This seems plausible to me. You've got five children with vomit all over their tops, and a smell filling the plane that can only be mitigated by rinsing the shirts out. Definitely do-able, and, I think, likely to get done. There's the humane issue here, but also everyone's noses to consider, too. Except the one attached to the drugged-out, inattentive mother, of course, who has done everything she can to make sure this is someone else's problem.

The kids not objecting to wet shirts? Well, the plane may have seemed warm to the kids, and any shirt might have been better than no shirt. Some kids might have care a lot about the damp, others might not notice it at all. I've known both kinds of kids. Shirts rinsed with warm water wouldn't have felt as bad as those washed in cold.

The toast? Not likely to be USA-style toast, but if the "flight attendant" poster was not a native English speaker, she/he may have referred to crackers as "toast".

In any case, I agree that the specific details are extremely consistent with behavior we have all seen over and over. They are also completely consistent with the article written by the blogger who was on that flight.

Count me among those who think it's a GOOD thing that these incidents are becoming more public. Mistreating children should NOT get a blind eye, especially when the person doing it is living off the backs of those same children.

Midnight Madness said...

Here's the thing. The school could issue an "official" statement that the kids were not expelled, and there are those who still wouldn't believe it. People believe what they want to believe, and if they choose to believe that the kids were expelled no matter what the school would say, that's what they are going to believe.

And as a wise person I knew always said, "That goes with them." Some mindsets just cannot be changed.

It would be interesting to see how Kate would spin it on national television. No doubt she would have a well-rehearsed speech and not deviate from it, skirting the issue as she has done so often in the past. If she gets flustered, though, and asked some questions that she's not prepared for, she just might slip up.

I have checked the school's website, and it has a very developmentally appropriate curriculum. If these kids were struggling academically, the school would work with them this year, exposing them to the regular lessons and giving extra intervention as needed. It would only be at the END of the year that the school would recommend retention or placement at another school.
==========================
I think things are a lot worse than we will ever know with regard to the circumstances of the expulsion. It had to have been an extremely serious situation for these two kids to be expelled at age 6 from kindergarten. Reports said they were expelled for fighting, bullying, and name calling. Well, a lot of kids do that and, while I am certainly no expert as I am not a teacher or school administrator, schools usually try to do all they can to work with the kids before they get to the last resort of expulsion. This whole thing is a huge tragedy and it is Kate's fault. She has stated that it is the responsibility of the school to deal with her kids' behavior. She takes NO responsibility for anything and never has from day one. She said when the tups were born that it was society's responsibility to pay for the nurse for an extra year since society created and developed fertility treatments. Those kids are doomed on every level, IMO.

To those who keep saying they wish Jon would get a job. MAYBE he has. If Jon isn't working in the entertainment industry we wouldn't know about it and we SHOULDN'T know about it. It's none of OUR business and assuming that Jon is just sitting at home and not trying to find work is very sheeple-ish.

IF he had a job, he might not want to announce it to his haters. The employer might not want the attention of the tabloids or have their phones ringing off the hook by Jon's "haters" calling him a douchebag or Ellen fugly. THAT'S why, IF Jon has a job --- nobody except a judge really needs to know about it.

Someone posted that on GWOP as a joke. Someone from another blog. They took it and ran with it.
&&&&&&&&&&&
Did they say they were going to do that before that story was posted? Otherwise, it could just be sheeple trying to take credit for it because they don't want people believing bad things about Kate. So they try to discredit bad stories that come out and claim they are jokes they the sheeple played. Just a thought.

I don't care about this story, we still have that blogger who did say they were vomiting and he had photos, he was there, it was no joke.

I sure wish Jon would get a job, any job, so it would look like he is at least attemping to say he can support his children along with Kate. Many people are without jobs because they can make more drawing unemployment that working, but I feel like it's good for your mental health to work. Instead of bashing on Kate, maybe supporting the thought of a working regular jobs in life would change the tide in their lives. Being an entertainment correspondent is a job. Hence, that is the work that Kate does.

Sorry, that's been happening for the past 5 minutes...I am interested in where the money for the mansion(for example) came from, the money for the hair extensions, toy cars at 200$ each.. has she been an entertainment corespondent for the past five years? And please don't mention the books in which we learn every little creepy detail about kids we've never met or the TV shows where the kids were dragged and on occasion were denied water because they were going on air..

You stated that "at the moment" -- i.e. "at the present time" -- the kids are the only ones bringing in $. That simply is false. Kate has been taking on other gigs, including DWTS, for quite a while. Furthermore, even with Kate + 8, it is not solely the kids earning income. Kate has something to do with the show as well.

No one ever asks her anything in an interview (Mary Hart, just recently, in asking about the expulsion), or comments about her (DWTS, when told she 'looked good' for having eight children), when it does not include at the very least a reference to her children.

She does not get work, give interviews, or land online with INF or RadarOnline, without her childrens' fame attached to it because THEY are the reason anyone gives a fig.

If they simply needed some extra help, wouldn't it be best for the school to provide the extra help in the school and keep the kids in class? Hell, they're able to do that in public schools, so you would think that this expensive private school would be able to provide some additional help in school for these kids for a while.

Also, if this was just a temporary situation in order to get some extra help, doing it this way could never be considered ideal. It would be very difficult for kids at any age to be completely pulled out of their class and the school, and then return a few months later, and I cannot see any school ever recommending that. It just does not make sense and we all know it!

******

I agree. Most people, including children, would choose a wet shirt over a "vomitous" shirt any day of the week. Besides, airlines carry blankets, so even though the story doesn't say so, the children could have been easily offered blankets to wrap up in.

Some airlines carry emergency food in case the plane has to sit on the tarmac for long periods of time. I know they have limited the time now, but still, people get hungry. Mac and Cheese and bread for a quick PBandJ sound pretty plausible to me. Sometimes air passengers get queasy and tea and toast fill the bill for them.

I'm not saying I buy this story hook line and sinker. I'm saying having food available on a normally non-serving flight is not far fetched.

Even if the kids were expelled because the curriculum I don't see how that is any better than being expelled for behavioral problems. How is it that kids in kindergarten can't handle doing kindergarten level work, especially after attending pre-k for 2 years and starting kindergarten a year late. If they get held back another year (which seems likely to happen somewhere down the line at this rate) they're going to graduate from high school at 20. That is truly sad to me.

As for the flight attendant story, I just don't believe it. I want to, and I can't. I think it's a stretch that toast would be served. The only food on those flight are pre-packaged. There are no ingredients on hand to "whip up" something to eat as one poster suggested. I'm no expert on being a flight attendant, but my mom and aunt were both flight attendants for 40 years, so I know a fair amount about what is possible on a flight. I also have a hard time believing that the flight attendants would wash out the kids clothes. They would probably ask someone in the entourage, like the ubiquitous nannies to do it. Flight attendants already work hard enough, they aren't going to go out of their way to wash 8 vomit stained shirts in a cubicle-like airplane bathroom if they don't have to.

Jon is still being paid by TLC per the contract that they threatened to sue him over. Not nearly as much as Kate gets, of course, but he still gets paid as long as he has to abide by this contract (until it has expired).

SO...if bringing in money is the criterion for having a job....Jon does indeed have a job. And he pays quite a hefty child-support payment with the money he "makes" per the contract....so...he IS bringing money in too.

Does she have a title?

readerlady said...

I've recently become a lurker here, but this is my first post. I read the airline attendant account on GWOP, and I tend to believe it. It certainly has the ring of truth, at any rate. It tallies with what we've seen of Kate's behavior on the show, especially the deep sea fishing episode. We all know she never bothers to bring a change of clothing for the kids - even when they were toddlers. I'm not a parent, but that would seem to be a no brainer to me. Kids have accidents. They spill things. They throw up. They fall down and get dirty/bloody/torn. Heck, if I'm going to an amusement park or someplace similar, I bring along a change of clothing for me! On the fishing episode, too, we all saw that Kate took no responsibility for caring for her sick and miserable children. That was left to the crew and to her boobyguard, while Kate complained, moaned, whined and mugged for the cameras. So, I'm tentatively on the side of accepting the post at face value. Also - I was on a cross-country flight this summer. The meal that was served contained ingredients that I'm allergic to. The flight attendants managed to scrounge up a quite satisfactory lunch for me from items routinely kept on the plane. So, again, that leads me to believe that there's at least a kernel of truth to the story. BTW - the post said that the flight occurred some time ago. The blogger post referred specifically to the flight to Alaska. I'm not sure the "flight attendant" post is referring to the same flight, although it may be the same.

re the kids being expelled from Kindergarten. I've been a teacher - both special ed. and regular classroom. I've been saying for some time that the younger kids are delayed in speech, behavior and social skills. I'm not saying it's innate, but they've certainly not been taught and stimulated in the home environment, as most children are. They remind me of kids who come from very poor, deprived backgrounds in the way they react to certain situations and in their speech and behavior patterns. Currently, I volunteer 2 days a week as a classroom monitor at my local parochial school. The child I work with is severely behavior handicapped, along with a multitude of physical and mental delays, due to being born to an alcoholic, drug addicted mother. He's been expelled from several public school systems due to his behavior. It takes a lot for a young child to be expelled from a school, but it does happen. I think the behavior we see on the show is just the tip of the iceberg. Those kids have been allowed to run wild, with little or no appropriate discipline. Kate metes out over-the-top punishment for minor infractions, but ignores their aggressive, destructive mean behaviors. It's going to take much more than "tutoring to the same curriculum" to correct these children's behavior problems and enable them to have a successful school career. They need parental involvement and intensive therapy.

"readerlady said... Your ENTIRE post about the children is almost EXACTLY what my daughter has said. Wow. She is a special ed teacher, dealing with severely disturbed children, she has been for almost 10 years. Her education is extensive in child development, and she has always expressed concern about the kids behavior. We have both watched in amazement, long ago, of the highly agressive actions of the kids. For the fans: Yes, I DO KNOW that some kids DO hit, in fact MOST kids will attempt it, even biting or spitting. But, they can be taught NOT to hit, bite or spit. It was a RULE in my house growing up with 6 of us kids, NO HITTING each other, especially boys hitting girls. Only once in a blue moon was that rule broken. It was also a rule with my 5 kids, no hitting. Again, only once in a blue moon was our rule broken. I saw a clip of a small portion of the Sunday night show, and one of the tups did not seem to know what a triangle was. Kate said "you should know this". They can't even tie shoes yet, going on 6 1/2. What do they do with these kids? Just film? No one, out of all the helpers and both parents, have yet to teach them these things? It may seem small but how much more do they not know? It is upsetting to me, as a mother. My kids could write their names (at least their first names) knew our phone number, count to 10 at least and say/sing their ABC's before they even started Kindergarten. The teachers all thanked us. In fact, some of it was required before entering Kindergarten. My kids are NOT genious either. (IF only) They knew their shapes, body parts, all the things most parents, parents I knew at least, teach the kids beginning at an early age. We also taught them how to handle their anger and how to problem solve. This took place over the years, of course, but we did the best we could, and our kids have turned out great. Yes, there are 8 kids, but Kate has always had help. Why not set them all down for a lesson or two a day when they were smaller. I just don't get it.

I agree with Reader Lady and Lolly ... The delays in these kids seem excessive for their age. Aggressive therapies and early interventions during their toddler years would have helped them catch up to their peers quite quickly, if the cause of their delays is their being born prematurely. Any competent pediatrician would have recognized delays early on, and would have recommended that the parents seek out the appropriate therapies (which would have been FREE here in PA). It seems pretty clear that the tups did not receive any such therapies, or they wouldn’t be so far behind their peers today. However, I really suspect that their delays and behaviors now are due more to a whole lot of "lacking" on the home front: Lack of consistency, lack of loving parenting (from Kate); lack of structure; lack of stability; lack of freedom to live a life without a camera invading their little world, and lack of an intellectually stimulating home environment. And by the latter, I'm talking about the simple things most parents do: working wooden puzzles together with shapes and letters; reading to their kids on a regular basis; explaining things to the kids on their level. I suspect that Kate (and Jon, to an extent) have long been too focused on making money off of the family/kids to take the time EACH day that is required for kids to learn and become socialized individuals. Kate can use the "preemie" excuse all she wants, but I'm just not buying it anymore. As I mentioned, there are PLENTY of therapies available that would have gotten those kids on track a long time ago, had the parents bothered to take advantage of them. Bottom line: I just don't believe the problems are inherent in the children -- I think all of this bad behavior and academic lagging is the result of problems with the parenting. I was appalled to read on this blog that one of the tups couldn't recognize a triangle -- at 6-1/2???? I realize all children are different, but my twins were preemies, and now at 2-1/2 they can identify triangles, circles, rectangles, squares, etc. They can count to 20, know many colors, can sing the ABC song.... Are they geniuses? No (well, unless dancing with plastic baskets on your head qualifies you to be a genius, then maybe … lol). They just received the necessary therapies they needed, and they "learn through play" at home and in preschool. It's not rocket science, it's priorities. And I think it’s pretty clear where Kate’s priorities lie. Sorry, but I’m voting “nurture,” NOT “nature” on this one.

Johanna said...

How do we know that they are just not lacking in the intelligence department? Therapy would certainly help with emotional/behavior skills, but therapy would not be beneficial if they are academically-challenged.
That's not a snark or put-down on the kids. It could be, however, a real possibility, one that nobody had yet addressed.

Oh, wait...this is Kate, the organizer, who didn't think far enough ahead to throw extra shirts in a tote bag for the Disney trip, or a pair of sandals in a bag for the New York trip, or shirts in a bag for deep-sea fishing.

It's only a thought, but being negative about this family is really going no where.

Being an entertainment correspondent is a job. Hence, that is the work that Kate does.
