I finally watched the Steve Harvey interview. It is as just as we have speculated. Steve Harvey asked him what does he believe Kate is really angry about. Jon said he and Kate worked well as a unit and brought in the ratings, but by quitting, Kate probably feels it ruined her opportunities in TV because now the ratings are much lower. No wonder she's been looking for a Jon substitute.
Jon also said they formally separated in June 2009 with the divorce final in Dec 2009. Meanwhile, TLC was airing shows of them still married but TLC made sure the tabloids ran stuff on him dating during the separation.

The ratio of tweets to emails would have to be 100:1 and I certainly didn't see a lot of tweets saying "you go girl, nobody else knows what we go through." She may have gotten ten emails from her most faithful fans.
In Kate speak ton = 3. My thinking on the ton of emails remark, it was a pre-planned remark/tweet to accompany the episode. Kate will forever be remembered for some horrible heartless moments, in fact many such moments! They are not going away. I imagine Kate, and Toady thought they could put a new spin on it, after watching hours of Mady's favorite YouTube stars reacting to their old videos. (Whoever suggested this I think was spot on.) Thinking that if Kate could explain the events, she did not show an ounce of remorse, we would all now finally completely understand the situation. In the past when Kate was not waving the "Realist Reality" flag, she was preaching that editing made her look so bad...mmmhhhm.. Well here was her unique opportunity to explain the entire scene, the parts viewers missed, perhaps the pieces on the cutting room floor. She didn't clarify anything, didn't provide any broader context. She complained more, how hard it was for her and not one single regret.I would add they left out several of her worst moments. And then after the showing, the icing on the cake, the last piece of the puzzle, Viewers, you will be convinced, because Kate just got a TON of empathetic emails (3)! Exxxxactly. Where are the correspodning tweets on twitter expressing the same? Few people contact celebs by email anymore. Why would they contact Kate by email when they can easily do it on twitter and get instant gratification?

Kate, as producer, is using Deanna as her sidekick (because Kate cannot carry the show as the only adult) regardless of how unprofessional it is for Deanna to imbed herself in the Gosselin's life. Unless TLC has made some deal with her, she is risking her freelance career.
Admin (#9), I think the lower ratings spooked TFW. Here she'd tweeted that it was her FAVORITE episode of all, and the numbers were disappointing. So she oh-so-cleverly came up with a scheme to make it seem like there was a groundswell of support from mothers all over the world, cheering her on. Heifer, please.
Actually, I think the rehashing of bad moments may backfire on her. She used it so she could "show reflection and change" but all I think it did was refresh people's minds of what a crazy tyrant she is....except the butt sniffers like Milo...Kate's shit will always smell sweet to her.
I think the reason you would drum up buzz is to convince TLC the show is worth airing. It could be TLC has only agreed to one more "season". Surely they have new shows in their lineup that would do better and finally cut the cord. The whole looking back and rewriting history episode was pure deflection. I think Kate's reputation has hurt her chances to continue filming ad infinitum and she knows it. TLC is the ONLY network that will air her and when they say good-bye, it's over. I think she's scared.
What was implied in the Steve Harvey interview was that Jon was offered incentive (money) to stay in the marriage. Kate is probably pissed at him about walking away from that too. Proves what a dishonest corporation it is and now you really should believe anything they air for reality shows.

Mel is right it would make for much better clip episodes. It's possible they still archive all their unused footage especially since it's all digital now so they don't need a lot of storage space to archive unused footage.
What would cost a ton of money though is paying editors to sit in an editing bay and go through hundreds of hours of footage to pull out new usable clips.

********* Just a friendly comment. Some women (like me) wear long skirts and pants exclusively because of defective or unattractive legs. For me it is the purple skin and hard scaling of venous stasis that I don't want on display. It looks like I have psoriasis but it's a byproduct of my heart failure. Deanna may have really bad vericose veins or need to wear wraps on her legs for some reason. I'm hoping Deanna's choice of long skirts is just because she hates shaving her legs or just likes that style, but that's not the case for many, many women. Long skirts and pants are a godsend to us.

Speaking of convenient, you conveniently left out the context of the comments about Deanna's looks. The context was speculation that Kate conveniently has selected a friend to be her toady who is not as pretty as her or dresses as nice, Kate, and therefore, not a threat. It's been proven some insecure women will only maintain strong friendships with those less threatening than them, whether in looks or other areas. It's a relevant discussion. Before my time, but it was told quite clearly to me my narcissist went on a campaign to get someone kicked off their show, a pretty major character, because they couldn't stand they were just as beautiful and popular. Of course they had some other convoluted reason why they had to go, but the real reason was jealousy.

We don't know the depth of the mental abuse that beast has spewed onto them that they had to soak up. I saw the clip of the cooking contest. I only saw just enough to see the boys. They looked checked out, bored, zombie.
Mady and Cara talking on the couch about it was terrible. I think Mady and Cara, but mostly Mady, has her mother on a short leash about filming and the rewards she reaps of the bribery she receives for doing it.

I've been called some very nasty names on another blog. They need to look in the mirror.
I think, and hope, that next season is the final season. Kate has failed to draw in the ratings from the heyday. It would make for a nice wrap up to celebrate the twins turning 16 ( both are not likeable and it will just get worse) and end the show for good. It takes time when new management takes over to shake things up so I hope there is pressure for TLC talent search team to find fresh shows.
I think it is pretty damn funny (and karma) that she plotted the Jeff Prescott boyfriend scenario to continue filming and it fell apart. The blind date attempt fell flat. Jon is correct. It was the interplay between him and Kate that worked because despite of their tiffs, they were a parental unit and supposedly committed to each other. That is what people related to. I know I did. I loved watching them taking care of eight young kids. and the key here is eight YOUNG kids, not immature 11 year olds or sassy teens.
My husband and always see couples with adorable babies and toddler and exclaim "how cute". Then we say to ourselves, "enjoy it while you can".
The TFW fiasco show has always been just that. Nothing makes sense because we do not have the truth. Most of the couples I've known did child transfer in parking lots, convenient to both parents. Not much conversation but face to face. Of course not always possible. But seriously after SIX YEARS, Dad who must always pickup on the outside of the locked gate, never knowing...well that's just bs.

I'd be happy to hear the kids aren't working today. But my next question would be, why doesn't TFW shop during the week while her kids are at school? Her buddy just bragged about there only being one parent conncerned about the kids' welfare. But if they're at school 5 days out of 7, that's not a whole lot of time together, is there? And if TFW is being filmed, we're not talking about a quick run to the store. She must've had hair and makeup done at home first, and then the lengthy filming process, with retakes and adjustments and keeping the crowds away.
Maybe the kids are with their dad today. But now we know not all of them go, so at least one would be left behind. Oh well -- his chores will keep him busy.
Oh boy, I see there are some Kate-sightings today. Well, I had a "sighting" of my own a couple hours ago. I went to lunch in Annapolis and who was at the restaurant but the mom and kids from "Our Little Family", along with another woman and a boy Jack's age. Yes, that's right, they were out in public! Just having lunch with friends, no cameras, no fuss, nothing. Oh, and no security, either. Nobody stared or pointed or took pictures or approached them. The kids were really well behaved, and they seemed to enjoy themselves. There were a few double-takes when they walked by people, but that was it. Everyone respected their privacy.
"Can't go back", my behind! That's all in Kate's head. I have no doubt that, if they wanted, the Gs could go and do normal things without causing a riot. It's Kate who blows every second glance into a big deal instead of relaxing and spending happy times out in public.

That wasn't her real contract. The narrator said before it was read that it was an "old gag gift, a mock contract that Lucy had given her". The video had been edited to include only the "best bits" of Lucy and Vivian, and the narration added. It seemed to me from the way Vivian and Lucy were acting that they had a good relationship.

I really enjoyed the old Lucy and Ethel reunion and I think their delight in seeing each other was genuine. I think at that age it's all water under the bridge. Lucy has nothing to be jealous about anymore and even if she did at that age, you get to a point where it doesn't seem to matter.
A clue that they really weren't great friends due to long standing animosity on the show is they both admitted they didn't make any effort to keep in touch. Vivian only moved up north. That's a two hour flight. You could also pick up a phone, or in those days, write a letter. They didn't do that and IMO, it was for a reason. Still, I'm glad they seemed to have made peace in later years.

The other evening on one of the Discovery channels I saw an add for a new TLC show. The premise was about couples about to have their first baby (imagine!) and the changes that would occur. (well duh). The father to be says something to the effect that 'this baby will have to fit into OUR lives.'
That entitled hag going to Costco and getting TONS of free stuff. Groceries, anything her heart desires. She gets paid for it, forces all 8 kids to participate, gets enough food to bust her gut for the next 2 years, will be getting enough SuperSnowStorm Supplies for the next 2 winters.

We now have beer cafes in a few Weis Markets here, but you can't throw it into your cart and pay at checkout with the rest of your items. You have to pay for it at a specific register within the cafe and show your ID. I never would have believed it, since this area is so darn conservative. I love it!

Honestly, I don't understand this point of transfer with the kids. When I was a kid growing up, 3 of my aunts & uncles got divorced. The kids lived with my aunts and when it was visitation time, my uncles came to the door where they lived and picked up the kids. Although my aunts wouldn't answer the door, I remember it was my grandma or a friend of my aunt's that let the father in. When the visitation was over, the father always brought the kids to the door when they dropped them off.
This ridiculous pettiness on the part of Kate shows how immature and spiteful she is. I feel so sorry that those kids have had to endure this for years.

LoveMyGrandsons (#171), I think the ugly truth is, TFW hates her ex more than she loves her kids. This whole kinder, gentler, more mellow TFW is a whole lot of nothing until it translates putting her children's best interests before her own. And I truly don't think she's capable.

That place is just crazy busy on weekends, and honestly I try to shop there during the week and leave the story on weekends to people who work. To create space for this biotch in the working lot and dedicate a cashier to her for any length of time is really egregious. Pottstown and Phoenixville are very close, it would make much more sense for them to have had lunch in Phonixville. I finally watched the Steve Harvey interview. It is as just as we have speculated. Steve Harvey asked him what does he believe Kate is really angry about. Jon said he and Kate worked well as a unit and brought in the ratings, but by quitting, Kate probably feels it ruined her opportunities in TV because now the ratings are much lower. No wonder she's been looking for a Jon substitute.

The ratio of tweets to emails would have to be 100:1 and I certainly didn't see a lot of tweets saying "you go girl, nobody else knows what we go through." She may have gotten ten emails from her most faithful fans.

I think the reason you would drum up buzz is to convince TLC the show is worth airing. It could be TLC has only agreed to one more "season". Mel is right it would make for much better clip episodes. It's possible they still archive all their unused footage especially since it's all digital now so they don't need a lot of storage space to archive unused footage.
What would cost a ton of money though is paying editors to sit in an editing bay and go through hundreds of hours of footage to pull out new usable clips.
It's good TV, but it's probably too expensive.

For better or worse California is trending the other way. Physical disipline is allowed as long as it's for genuine disipline and you can hit your child with objects.
A case just came out a few weeks ago saying it's fine and dandy to beat a child with a sandal.
The trial judge who handled that case, a woman I know and have appeared in front of, understandably felt that hitting a child with a sandal was wrong. The Court of Appeal said how you personally feel about sandals is irrelevant.

The guilty verdict was not because of the object; I just thought that it was really strange to think that hitting with an object is better womehow than hitting with a hand. To me it's worse.
The conviction was because there is a specific exemption to the assault laws for "spanking", and to get the exemption you must meet two criteria: (1) child between 2 and 12 years of age and (2) spanking done for educative or corrective purposes, not as punishment. This case failed on both criteria, though the second is a bit subjective.

defective or unattractive legs. For me it is the
purple skin and hard scaling of venous stasis that I don't want on display. It looks like I have psoriasis
but it's a byproduct of my heart failure. Deanna may have really bad vericose veins or need to wear wraps on her legs for some reason. I'm hoping Deanna's choice of long skirts is just because she hates shaving her legs or just likes that style, but that's not the case for many, many women. Long skirts and pants are a godsend to us.

Speaking of convenient, you conveniently left out the context of the comments about Deanna's looks. The context was speculation that Kate conveniently has selected a friend to be her toady who is not as pretty as her or dresses as nice, Kate, and therefore, not a threat. It's been proven some insecure women will only maintain strong friendships with those less threatening than them, whether in looks or other areas. It's a relevant discussion. There's more assholes raining on parades than marching in them.
These alienated children learned at a very early age to say what shmoopey wants to hear or say nothing. I don't think I've ever witnessed a mother yelling at toddlers in diapers, really yelling, putting fear into them. No I don't ever recall seeing such behavior. And so we know it continued. In my mind that is where the alienation began. Don't upset Mommy. So then the loving, nurturing peacemaking parent is gone.
They repeatedly here about losing the lifestyle if they don't keep working (all of America did). God, I shudder to imagine what those children have heard and felt. Kids need structure and stability. How often were they reminded that only shmoopey could provide that, "Everyone else has left."
Again, day by day, conversation by awful conversation, you learn Daddy's phone calls are bad, can't be left alone talking to him....on and on, I'm sure this is just the tip of the iceberg.
What was that house like during the lawsuit?!!
So she has groomed them, conditioned them, brainwashed them.
And that visitor who mommy hates, who comes to pick you up and take you away from the mansion and pool, isn't allowed past the gate, like the workers are.

We don't know the depth of the mental abuse that beast has spewed onto them that they had to soak up. I saw the clip of the cooking contest. I only saw just enough to see the boys. They looked checked out, bored, zombie.
Mady and Cara talking on the couch about it was terrible. I think Mady and Cara, but mostly Mady, has her mother on a short leash about filming and the rewards she reaps of the bribery she receives for doing it.

I've been called some very nasty names on another blog. They need to look in the mirror.
I think, and hope, that next season is the final season. Kate has failed to draw in the ratings from the heyday. It would make for a nice wrap up to celebrate the twins turning 16 ( both are not likeable and it will just get worse) and end the show for good. It takes time when new management takes over to shake things up so I hope there is pressure for TLC talent search team to find fresh shows.
I think it is pretty damn funny (and karma) that she plotted the Jeff Prescott boyfriend scenario to continue filming and it fell apart. The blind date attempt fell flat. Jon is correct. It was the interplay between him and Kate that worked because despite of their tiffs, they were a parental unit and supposedly committed to each other. That is what people related to. I know I did. I loved watching them taking care of eight young kids. and the key here is eight YOUNG kids, not immature 11 year olds or sassy teens.
My husband and always see couples with adorable babies and toddler and exclaim "how cute". Then we say to ourselves, "enjoy it while you can".
The TFW fiasco show has always been just that. Nothing makes sense because we do not have the truth. All of this facing the camera and talking endlessly about how "you" have evolved is called self-promotion in my book. Makes the person look even worse. We were taught in my early years to let others "brag" on us, not on ourselves. I cannot stand the sound of her voice. I do not believe for a minute that the yelling, cursing, fit throwing by the mother has stopped. Her frustrations are still there and as she ages will grow worse. The money will only buy so much happiness. At some point, we must find it within. I agree, reader, with your latest offering. Those kids are on a shorter and shorter lead rope. Not good in my view. I agree with you (and others) reader, and as we can see by the Sky Tower incident where she claimed she was going back into the building and Steve said something like...just do it...and on the mobile home where he was asking others to just go with the flow and move....he is trying to deactivate a situation that is going to get worse, and it did. If we can read her I'm sure he has her well sussed out.
Another thing, TFW would have helped her own image by making sure Jon was greeted at the front door by smiling children (all 8) for the custody exchange. Poor, pitiful act only works for a short time, TFW. At least until public sees through it. Anyone who watched the old shows, caught on quickly. I think something we're missing is that we feel bad for the kids having to film all the time.
But a couple of those girls love all the attention and are far more than a 'wee' bit too aware of the camera.
One of the older ones is far too taken with the idea of 'our show', IMO. She's quite taken with the idea that her sass is comedic.
I think that a few of them don't mind the filming at all. They love the attention, the perks, the entitlement.
Being kids, they have no idea of either the short term or long term ramifications to themselves.

I'd be happy to hear the kids aren't working today. But my next question would be, why doesn't TFW shop during the week while her kids are at school? Her buddy just bragged about there only being one parent conncerned about the kids' welfare. But if they're at school 5 days out of 7, that's not a whole lot of time together, is there? And if TFW is being filmed, we're not talking about a quick run to the store. She must've had hair and makeup done at home first, and then the lengthy filming process, with retakes and adjustments and keeping the crowds away.
Maybe the kids are with their dad today. But now we know not all of them go, so at least one would be left behind. Oh well -- his chores will keep him busy.

Oh boy, I see there are some Kate-sightings today. Well, I had a "sighting" of my own a couple hours ago. I went to lunch in Annapolis and who was at the restaurant but the mom and kids from "Our Little Family", along with another woman and a boy Jack's age. Yes, that's right, they were out in public! Just having lunch with friends, no cameras, no fuss, nothing. Oh, and no security, either. Nobody stared or pointed or took pictures or approached them. The kids were really well behaved, and they seemed to enjoy themselves. There were a few double-takes when they walked by people, but that was it. Everyone respected their privacy.
"Can't go back", my behind! That's all in Kate's head. I have no doubt that, if they wanted, the Gs could go and do normal things without causing a riot. It's Kate who blows every second glance into a big deal instead of relaxing and spending happy times out in public.

That was a great video. I didn't know they had talk shown back in 1976.
That wasn't her real contract. The narrator said before it was read that it was an "old gag gift, a mock contract that Lucy had given her". The video had been edited to include only the "best bits" of Lucy and Vivian, and the narration added. It seemed to me from the way Vivian and Lucy were acting that they had a good relationship.
The guy tweeted that all 8 kids are at the restaurant. She's probably sitting alone because the kids hate sitting with her. I'm guessing Deanna's with her since she got a full blow out going.

A former colleague of mine offered the church as the point of transfer in contentious divorce cases for any family in town who wanted it. The parents agreed to walk inside to both deliver and pick up their child rather than use the parking lot. I don't remember the details, but I know there was a police presence. It worked supremely well, so well that several churches in other segments of town did it to serve their areas.

Sounds like a great idea. Most people were probably "on their best behavior" (or at least not on their worst) because of the church setting. Too bad the police were needed, but they probably weren't there for all exchanges. Making them come in was a great idea, as it is much more civilized, and much more comfortable if someone has to wait.

I really enjoyed the old Lucy and Ethel reunion and I think their delight in seeing each other was genuine. I think at that age it's all water under the bridge. Lucy has nothing to be jealous about anymore and even if she did at that age, you get to a point where it doesn't seem to matter.
A clue that they really weren't great friends due to long standing animosity on the show is they both admitted they didn't make any effort to keep in touch. Vivian only moved up north. That's a two hour flight. You could also pick up a phone, or in those days, write a letter. They didn't do that and IMO, it was for a reason. Still, I'm glad they seemed to have made peace in later years.

Yes, they were hoodwinked, and while my heart goes out to the person you quoted, how does anyone know that anything put out there on twitter, FB, Go Fund is legit? I'd be extremely suspicious donating to such causes. It's a shame to have to read stories like that, but just like the church people who donated without questioning, it's many times difficult to know if it's a scam.

The kids are in school all week. When else can they film?The store is the busiest on weekends, but you gotta do what you gotta do, even if it is inconvenient for other shoppers. I'm still laughing, though, about filming at Costco. It's a come-down from the high-end boutique and that's not saying much. What's next? An all-day special event at the thrift store's bargain room?

We now have beer cafes in a few Weis Markets here, but you can't throw it into your cart and pay at checkout with the rest of your items. You have to pay for it at a specific register within the cafe and show your ID. I never would have believed it, since this area is so darn conservative. I love it!

Honestly, I don't understand this point of transfer with the kids. When I was a kid growing up, 3 of my aunts & uncles got divorced. The kids lived with my aunts and when it was visitation time, my uncles came to the door where they lived and picked up the kids. Although my aunts wouldn't answer the door, I remember it was my grandma or a friend of my aunt's that let the father in. When the visitation was over, the father always brought the kids to the door when they dropped them off.
This ridiculous pettiness on the part of Kate shows how immature and spiteful she is. I feel so sorry that those kids have had to endure this for years.

To create space for this biotch in the working lot and dedicate a cashier to her for any length of time is really egregious. And what a bunch of phony baloney, as she loads 2 pallets and has the boys fill the car for her. Wonder where the 5 girls were. It's just a lot of BS, but when she and TLC impact real people, and have the audacity to ask them to sign off on confidentiality agreements right in Costco, there are lines of decency being crossed. I thought someone reported that they had Monday and Tuesday off with a two-hour delay on Wednesday. That's not all week. I really doubt that they filmed every day of this week. It's bad enough that they gave up their Saturday, but did she pull them out of classes all week to film?
I made a few observations today:
1. All Grocery/Club Stores are busy on the weekends.
2. My son went to basketball & soccer, my daughter went to field hockey, and they both went to school and sports Wed-Fri (due to snow) and went to Sam's Club with me today ---no big deal, they survived.
3. If you use a person's image, you need their permission. I have had to sign forms for school, CCD and sports.
4. There is a Costco and Iron Hill in Lancaster. I've been to the Iron Hill.
5. Where is it currently stated that TLC is paying for all of their on air cost. TLC may have made a change in the contract. If TFW is not paying for the expenses, she'll get a 1099.
