Kate's Top Ten Worst Moments of 2013

It's hard to believe another year has come and gone and it's time for our Worst Moments again. You can read our previous recaps here, here and here. Happy New Year, and without further ado, here is our fourth (wow!) annual compilation of Kate's Worst Moments:

10. For crying out loud.

We weren't the only ones to shed a tear
for the Gosselin kids in 2013.
Although it was filmed in 2012, Celebrity Wife Swap didn't air until early 2013. Check out our recap for a full summary of this monstrosity. The Cliff Notes version is the Gosselin kids were put to work maintaining the McMansion so hard and so long that Kendra ended up in tears over it, Kate won a battle of wills with a three-year-old, and deeply insulted Kendra as both a wife and mother even though Kendra turned out to be pretty darn good at not only that but also at just being a compassionate person (Is it opposite day? I mean, who's divorced and who's not here?). Kate, with the help of enabler Deanna (now oddly MIA like many other people who've befriended Kate), learned absolutely nothing from the experience except that she needs more "me time." Oh, and did we mention Kate admitted she didn't even tell Jon she was putting his children on national television again? Hardly co-parenting.

As 2013 comes to a close, we hear Kendra's expecting again. Good luck to the Basketts on baby number two; they are wonderful parents and should never doubt themselves about that just because some shrew from P.A. with an egg fetish tried to tell them otherwise.

9. The ninth Gosselin child comes forward.

Kate's always talked about that blighted ovum she had, but we never knew until now he was alive and kicking in Texas. Carlos Gosselin is a fun, carefree, yet hard-working 20-something music producer from the Longhorn State. Yes, Gosselin is his real name. It's not exactly Smith, but the surname is pretty widespread. One early Wednesday morning, Carlos tweeted "I love you mom" to @Kateplusmy8.

Oops.

Courtesy of Carlos Gosselin

If you've been following Kate long enough, you can bet what happened next. You can read more details here, but among the highlights, Kate accused the poor guy of illegally impersonating people and demanded he change his ID and e-mail.

No, not my e-mail too! But I've had it since eighth grade.

2013 marked the year when people stopped being bullied by Kate. Carlos stood up to Kate, calmly telling her he would do no such thing and that it was just a joke. A funny one, Carlos. Thanks for the giggles. Update: Carlos's twitter reveals he's still hard at work and quite successful in the thriving east Texas music scene, managing various artists and pulling marathon sessions in the studio even on everyone else's day off. Carlos, you do your generation proud.

8. Kate accepts freebies at a fundraiser for crash victims.

A horrific accident after church. Two precious little girls gone. Most bloggers thought it was great to see the community come together to help the family through such a terrible time. A fan of Kate's organized a Zumba charity event and invited Kate to come. All still looked well, with Kate signing books and posing for photos, until photos were posted of Kate gleefully accepting freebies from the fan, including a pair of Uggs and an ornament. Token gifts are sometimes given to celebrities at charity events, but this one seemed particularly inappropriate given the tragic nature of the event. If gifts must be given, it should have been done quietly.  There was also a level of suspicion that the event was used as a rouse just so a certain big fan could meet and spend time with Kate (almost all the Facebook posts from the event were of Kate, when the event was about so much more than that), which left a bad taste in many bloggers' mouths. Perhaps the items would have been better donated back to a charity and the focus of the event shifted to the family and the community who helped them, not a D-list celebrity.

7. Piecing and patching with Audis and One Direction tickets.

Kate and the kids graced the cover of People magazine this summer for an unnecessary update. There were lots of "head shaking" moments, but one of the biggest was when Kate claimed she is "piecing and patching" to get by. This is just insulting at this point. Her lifestyle this year did not reflect that she is hurting for cash one bit and hasn't been for a long time, from her annual trip to the ritzy Kentucky Derby, to buying One Direction tickets, an expensive parrot and a new Audi when her first one was only purchased in 2011, to initiating a huge lawsuit against Jon and author Robert Hoffman. Not to mention the house and private school and yet another lavish Christmas.

However, the kids were old enough to be interviewed this time, and Mady offered an incredibly insightful comment about the show: Had the show and trips continued, "we could have wound up being really bratty," the 12-year-old said. Yes, kid, good point.  Too bad your mom doesn't listen or care.

6. Writer's Bloke

Kate managed to scrounge up another pathetic blogging job this year, this time for The Stir, and as usual her posts offered nothing helpful, insightful, or worthwhile to the over saturated world of Mommy blogging. Several me, me, me posts later and the job was over before it ever even started. What happened? This is one of those to add to the Gosselin black hole of things we'll never really know for sure the truth about. But we sure can guess, and it probably starts with something printed on thin pink paper.

5. Tug of Katie

Katie Couric headed out to the Gosselin compound in September for an update interview, and the kids were anything but adorable. Rather, they were irritable and awkward and so out of control Katie couldn't even play a simple game of tug of war with them without it erupting into a firestorm. Katie might have just caught them on a bad day, but whatever the reason, it was embarrassing for the children and a stark reminder that when child stars grow up, it's rarely ever cute anymore. It's over, time to move on.

4. Watch out for the sharks

Kate used her children yet again for another paid endorsement this summer, this time for NoNetz swimsuits. The public had finally had enough of the exploitation, and told NoNetz so, as is their right. It wasn't so much what Kate did do, but what she didn't do. When NoNetz showed themselves to be complete amateurs when dealing with a PR crisis (they claimed they had no idea Kate was controversial and posted multiple versions of a press release responding to the criticism), Kate never intervened or took the blog post at issue down, as they asked her to. As per her usual behavior, Kate acted like nothing ever even happened and left NoNetz to deal with the fallout. For a couple of measly swimsuits. If you're expecting this woman to ever have your back when things get tough, she won't. She took her freebies and ran out on these nice ladies just trying to make a go of a small business idea.

3. Crookbook

Kate's been carrying on about a cookbook for years now, but this year it finally hit bookshelves. For a hot minute anyway. The book was so embarrassingly amateur it's hard to believe a real publisher was involved (even then, the publisher takes a lot of self-published projects).  Greasy, slimy, fatty, salty meals were the order of the day, with mostly grainy cell phone photos and a few awkwardly posed shots of the kids from a quick photo shoot. What's worse, Kate's "book tour" consisted mostly of Kate whining about her finances and throwing Jon under the bus (sadly, Jon had had enough and let it loose about Kate this year, too, most angrily in a recent interview with Philadelphia Magazine). She barely promoted the book anywhere. The cookbook itself was as much of an afterthought as those little breath mints you get at family restaurants.

2. Kateville sure is a scary place.

If ever there was proof of Kate's judgement issues, this was it. She aligned herself with the nefarious, lawsuit-prone web site Bullyville.com, writing a blog post for them claiming she was bullied as a child (Twenty years ago! Time to get over it, millionaire!), but it didn't stop there. She then actively encouraged a bizarre campaign to "out" her "haters" that bordered on actual threats and went on for months. She called the suspect people running this terror her heroes. Even this site was not immune. Bullyville demanded an apology for a blog post swiffered over two years ago or they would "out" us. Even when this blog saw it was appropriate to apologize and did so, there was no acknowledgment of the apology by anyone from that "side" and we were soon outed anyway. That's not the rules of war any decent man lives by. As quickly as this alliance was born, it was gone, never to be mentioned again by Kate. Kate and Bullyville were the biggest bullies of all in this mess, and yet they never saw the irony.

1. May the criminals you end up defending be less terrifying than the bar exam.

Kate's delusional behavior has been going on for years now, but it was never worse than when she decided to sue her children's father, along with author Robert Hoffman. Kate's moving papers described an elaborate and blatantly implausible scenario in which Jon and Robert conspired together on one dark and stormy night to "get" Kate, I guess, sorta. Even Hailey resurfaced and got in on the game with some text messages that were just so perfect it was too good to be believed (later, Jon would explain he wasn't even using the cell phone carrier that Hailey claims the texts came from). Speaking of apologies, we demand Kate apologize to Jon and his children for this stunt or we'll out her. #ticktock!

While surely this suit wasn't fun for Jon and Robert, it was entertaining to read all the excellent legal briefs (from the defense side anyway), see Kate's attorneys fumble around and tweet passive aggressive tweets about how much it sucked to be them, and watch public opinion sway firmly against Kate. Most people were outraged Kate would stoop so low. Most bloggers thought Kate was likely sitting at home scratching her head, wondering how on earth this went so terribly wrong; that she really thought that as soon as she just explained what happened with Jon, the public will understand and sympathize with poor put upon Kate.

Fortunately due to Jon's lawyer Shawn Tuma and Robert's stellar legal team too, the lawsuit never really got off the ground and was quietly dropped a few months later. Sadly the incident will never really be erased from the record books, someday to be found quite easily by the children. Which makes Kate's blog post, upset with Jon for sharing in the press some serious concerns he has about the children's social skills due to their bizarre upbringing on T.V., rather hypocritical.

And now for our annual "best of" the year. It's always hard to pick just one, so why try? This year we selected five--five people actually:

5. Ashton Kutcher. He never had a job he was better than, and he never quit a job until the next one was lined up. Oh, and he worked hard. Darn hard. For all the greed, gluttony, and entitlement this country has seen in recent years, boy was this refreshing.

4. Lorna Colbert. She raised 9 kids all by herself after her husband and two other children died in a plane crash. One of those kids grew up to be the brilliantly funny Stephen Colbert. Colbert put on a serious face for a moment and gave a moving eulogy upon her death.

3. Mara Wilson. No one has ever spoken so eloquently and credibly for her peers about the dangers of child stardom.  If child stars had a patron saint, she would be it.

2. Megan Kowalewski

Thanks to a chance encounter with Jon Gosselin in a Chick-fil-A last January, we learned about this amazing (and clever) young woman from Berks and her battle with lymphoma. So how is Megan doing a year later? Well, her hair has grown back, she's out of the house and working, she made a documentary that aired in Germany, and she had this message for all her supporters on Christmas Eve: "Today is my Re-Birthday!! It has been one year today since I had my stem cell transplant. Many people asked me today why I'm so happy and festive. Working in retail at the mall on Christmas Eve was a bit hectic, but I actually had tears of joy. I'm just so grateful that I'm alive and home this year for the holidays." Thank you for what you taught us, sweet Megan.

And the best moment person of the year is . . .

1. Shawn E. Tuma, Esq.

The computer fraud expert from Texas was retained by Jon after Kate filed suit last summer, and it was hands down the best move Jon could have made. Tuma demolished Kate's briefs piece by piece, and even had a sense of humor about it while doing so ("Plaintiff says her login information was used but does not even offer a speculative guess as to how Defendants gained access to that information. Was it a Trojan horse? DDoS attack? Malware? Social engineering? Clairvoyance? We have no idea—neither does Plaintiff.").

As predicted, no finally meant no and it wasn't long before Kate dropped the lawsuit in full before it hardly saw the inside of a courthouse. Check and mate! Not only did Tuma save Jon a lot of time, stress and money, but we believe he helped put a stop to what was surely a great deal of turmoil and uncertainty for eight young children. Add him to the list of people who decided to put a stop to her bullying this year. Oh, and he's strangely kind of cute, too. Well done, counselor.

Oh geez Milo. Kate resourceful? Only if it involves getting something for nothing.

We just finished watching the four-day, 56 episode marathon run of Breaking Bad (and we're completely blown away by it).

There's a scene in it where Skyler White tells her sister Marie to shut up but she continues to natter on so Skyler says SHUT UP again...about 20 times until Marie finally closed her mouth.

That's kind of the reaction I have when Milo sends these ridiculously stupid tweets to Kate.

Milo shut up! Shut up shut shut up shut up shut up shut up...

She's a Kendra wannabe.

She reminds me of that girl in high school who always had to copy everything you did, because she had no personality of her own.

She did the same thing with Beth.

Kate covets the things others have worked hard to achieve, but she wants to have them given to her with no effort on her part. That's how she rolls.

Hoping everyone is having a great start to 2014.

Agree with TLC, Kate's interest in football is so fake, as is everything in her life. She only cares about herself and to stay in the loop with her 6 Twitter idolizers and anyone else that will send her a positive tweet, about her, of course.

To everyone who is getting snowed in, please stay safe.
I live is a suburb of New Orleans, so no snow here. Our last small snow came back in 2008. I slept through it because I worked the night before.

People down here have no idea how to drive in the stuff. It was pretty heavy in some areas and I saw lots of beautiful pics. Seems everyone tried to leave home and go get that special, one of a kind picture of popular sites. Lots of accidents as a result.

We did have a white Christmas in 2004, followed by a huge Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Two large weather events in 8 months, makes me wonder what is next.

My ex boyfriend was from Wisconsin and I always wanted to go there for a visit during the winter. I told him I just wanted to see what it was like shoveling my car out the driveway. His response "no you don't.

Enjoying the Top Ten, thanks Admin.

Milo is worried about 4-5 inches of snow and 2 degrees?!

She must lead a VERY sheltered life. That isn't much more than a skiff of snow and normal winter temps for most. It's a good thing Kate doesn't live in the Dakotas! Milo would spend all winter absolutely beside herself with worry.

&&&&&&

She's acting like it's the Storm of the Century. Yes, there will be snow (so what else is new in the Northeast); yes, it will be cold (windchills expected at minus 15), but by Friday afternoon, it will be gone, and a warm-up expected by the weekend. Warm, by our standards, with possible rain on Sunday. Is Milo going to freak out over the rain that might turn to snow on Sunday evening? Stay tuned.

I'm assuming that Kate does have a heated house, or is Milo going to go nuts advising Kate on where to set her thermostat?

Eeek, I hope TFW doesn't want to do everything Kendra DID in the past. Nah, Hef rejected her!

I must say I liked Kendra as she appeared on CWS- she was caring, conscientious and empathetic to the kids. She tried to follow the rules of this dumb show but also to get to know the kids and let them have a good time. Also she tucked the girl tups ( shown) into bed, had chats with the twins, and was interested in their sports/acting/tree-house etc. Kind of like a MOM.

Yes ! Didn't Jon play soccer in high school? Would be such a great opportunity/activity to spend time with and bond with his boys.
They are simply more than chicken feeders and need to experience life as kids only, and spend non-school time with other boys. Part of the life process.

If they don't want soccer, there is scouts, football, etc.. but am sure the 3 (count 'em 3) would be thrilled with this, and Jon's backing and participation as a parent! Would pay off in spades!

Hopefully Jon can invest his time, money and energy in such a great thing for his boys so it can happen!

I didn't get the sense that any of the McCaughey's (sp?) felt like they dropped the reality tv ball, when it realistically could have been them vs. the Gosselins.
The kids seemed a bit ill at ease with the cameras and each had their own interests, both great things. You can have a lot of kids, even a gaggle of them the exact same age, and encourage their individual interests and growth.
I think Kate had it set in her mind that there's no way, for the tups, and that was that. She gave up on even the notion of being able to give to them as a mother to each individual child.
Just. Gave. Up.

DH and I are just starting season 6, so we just saw that episode. Marie is such a PITA!
This show has been amazing and we're in the home stretch. Although it's becoming dark and tense, and the dark comedy laughs are fewer, the show is crafted and honed like nothing I've ever seen.

The only reason Kate brings up watching football on TV occasionally because .....3) she saw how Kendra lived and wants that lifestyle.

She's a Kendra wannabe.

Hmmm...if she's copying Kendra...wouldn't you love to see TFW do that diving show or whatever it was that Kendra did??

By her surgeries, it seems as if Kate is even trying to copy Kendra's looks! Her face looks like Kendra's and her body now has that small frame/big boob look.

I think those who have said Kate's interest in watching football has everything to do with Hank and Kendra are right on. Milo's ego is inflating as we speak, though, because she thinks she's influencing Kate to love the game. What a couple of head cases!

I don't have a chance to post much these days, but I still read as I can. I would like to thank Admin for the year end "worst of" list and wish everyone here a happy and blessed New Year.

Oh, recently playing Trivial Pursuit with my husband and kids, and my first question was "Name 4 of the 8 Gosselin children." Well, I had that one.... : )

Blessings to all. You all rock!

Breaking Bad -- Season 4 here. Gus is the focal point right now. I watch and cringe. Watch with satisfaction that ALL the episodes are there on DVD. It is more violent and grittier than my usual TV viewing. But, I am "all in".

How much has AMC edited out? I know the language is cleaned up -- that is visible. Have they removed nudity or some of the violence?

Admin, thanks for another great recap of Kate's Worst.

I have my doubts that the 3 boys will ever get into sports. There was an episode where Jon took the boys to the golf course and they were riding around in a golf cart, and no matter what Jon said, the boys wouldn't get out and run around at first. Jon was frustrated because they said they didn't want to get dirty. Not sure how old they were but I am sure Kate's rages left their mark, in more ways than one. It's difficult for me to imagine 3 little boys not wanting to run and roll down the hills and just be exuberant boys.

For those that are interested, here is Fox and Friends interview this morning, with the owner of Exit6, Jeff Britton, regarding Starbucks.

http://video.foxnews.com/v/3001000569001/starbucks-sends-cease-and-desist-letter-to-local-pub/?playlist_id=930909787001

When asked about the moral of the story, Mr. Britton said "maybe just because you can, you don't have to blow hundreds of thousands of dollars on lawyer fees. A phone call would have been fantastic."

Also, it seems he never called the beer a Frappicino. It was one of his customers who labeled it that and posted it on a website.

Thanks for a great top 10 list. I had even forgotten some of those things. I think we will see Kate on TV but just on some low rated talk shows. When she says she's busy with paperwork, I think she's trying any way she knows to get on tv. Some producer will be desperate for guests because we have so many talk shows right now and will put her on. She will talk about how awful Jon is for going on Couples Therapy, her children are the most well adjusted ever, her children tell her all the time how wonderful she is, she needs gifts and a boyfriend, etc. She's so boring. We can predict what she will say in interviews.

I think the creepiest part is how she always claims her children tell her how wonderful she is all the time. The meals are the best ever. The Christmas presents were the best ever. They love her every minute. What mother thinks this or even wants to? If they're really saying these things, she has them scared and they are working hard to keep her happy. It sounds so sad.

I know, sad. Also I recall when they went to a pro baseball game & were allowed to run the bases, they were reluctant. Again, in CWS, they seemed very glad to retreat with their tacos to the table to eat, when Kendra found the kids were unable to loosen up even with the rules switched. They are brainwashed to avoid dirt, which most sports involve, and are terrified to get dirty. Ironic how TFW posed Joel with sauce on his face for the crookbook, or Leah with freebie guacamole on her hair and skin.

Hideous, isn't it?
This was from back in the Fall, and Martha's response was like "so what? It was delicious!"
Very Julia Child "No excuses!, never apologize!"

I see this as the perfect metaphor for Martha, and for Kate.
This photo is the real Martha. Not Martha the lifestyle mogul, not Martha Stewart Living- Martha, not even poncho-wearing, ex-con Martha.
No, this is the Martha that's actually not a perfectionist, who doesn't have cookies and nibblies always at the ready for drop-in company. This is Martha the absentee mom who hardly ever cooked for her own daughter. Who served hot dogs, not salmon en croute!
Glossy Martha/Real Martha
Twitter-Ms. Organization and Germaphobe Kate/ Real Kate.

Funny, when unguarded, unedited and not PR-managed, the real person seeps through the cracks.
Oh, believe me, on of Kate's kids will follow in Martha's daughter's footsteps and right a real eye opener one day!

Wow, appointments, soooooooooo busy!!!!!!!
Here's most people's day, Kate: Up at dawn, work x8 hours with 1 30 minute break, drive home in bad weather and rush hour traffic, make dinner, clean dinner, homework with kids, pass out. Wake up tommorow to it all over again.

Ugh, she's such a complainer. Thank goodness that you actually have ALL DAMN DAY to run around doing that shit. Most folks don't. If they do, it's a vacation/sick day taken out of their benefit time, that's IF they have benefits.
Many don't and lose $$ when they take a day running around for appts.

That is one thing he was right about. Shoveling once or twice for the experience isn't too bad. Shoveling deep snow day after day is horrid. We get drifting a lot so even if there is no new snow we are clearing a path to the cars often. It can drift back over (2-3 ft high) in hours.
This weekend is suppose to be worse for temps. We haven't been this cold in 20 yrs. Highs in the teens BELOW zero. Windchills 35-50 below after a couple weeks of already frigid cold. I hope the cars start!

I would move but could never get all my family to go with. Spring can't come soon enough.

It looks like she's taking most of the photos with a flash. Much like people food never looks good with a flash. Absent really low light conditions an iPhone will take an indoor photo of food just fine without flash. Put a filter on it too, that'll help. Also simply cleaning the rim of the soup bowl would have helped tremendously. It's so interesting someone who is such a lifestyle guru could fail at Instagram so epically.

I guess it's perspective. I never saw any weather in pa id remotely call bad, but I'm practically from Canada. I was shocked at how little it snowed compared to the dumpings I was used to. The worst weather was in the fall from a hurricane, but everyone got that.

Were you here for the three-foot snowfall we got in the mid 90s? Blizzard, white-out conditions, drifting, snow piled up against the doors that you couldn't even open them. It was bad, probably the worst I remember.

I think that the nasty part of this storm isn't the snow, but the frigid conditions, with windchills about minus 15. We're really not used to that here, but we get through it. Milo acts like Kate is a foul-weather hero, braving the elements, surviving outside by eating berries and staying warm by a campfire in the woods.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

No. Even if I was I doubt I would remember. We got 3 foot snow falls almost every year usually several times a year. Lake effect. That was normal to me! I thought something must be unusual when I moved to pa. Global warming?. What happened to the weather? Lol

It does get bitter cold though no question. Fortunately we have heaters now.

Well, Kate just confirmed what Jon said about her. LOL! First, Kate says on New Years eve, some of the kids are sick, then a load of non-sense tweets, now she is BORED,with 8 kids home?, oh, I forgot, Kate does not interact with her kids, they have to fend for themselves, there is not going outside and playing with them or doing anything with them. Was she not complaining in september of how lonely she was when the kids went back to school, now they are home 2 weeks and she does not know what to do with them. Maybe she is right, that she can only stand to be around them for a few days. You know her bucket plan: be home with kids one week and travel the other. Now she has dentist, ortho, school sport, etc, this is BORING? Oh, forgot again: she said the kids field trip was BORING! I guess this BORING stuff is in the same bucket!
I can think of a million things to do with kids, and not all of it is going out or doing work around the house. If you have snow, buildt a snowman, do angels, take a walk, go sledding, ice skating etc, play games inside. Oh forgot yet again, Kate does not do those things: too BORING! Kate, acts like her kids are a CHORE or disease. Kate they are not dolls, to dress up, show off and then put back on the shelf. They are kids and individuals, before you realize they will be out of you house. Jon is right, Kate needs to get off twitter.

When I lived in Burlington, VT, Ben& Jerry's would take 10 cents off of ice cream for every degree below zero. There were a lot of those days and you'd be surprised how many people took advantage of it.

Very few things ever shut down due to snow. Of course, you wouldn't recognize your best friend on the street because everyone was so bundled up.

I remember one one of Kate's talk show appearances, she said she would like to take up where K+8 left off. She's forgetting that K+8 was a huge failure. Ratings went down to 680,000 for one episode, and were below 1 million for many episodes. Nobody wants to continue a show that already failed, especially when she is so hard to work with.

Someone also mentioned a dating show. She has been shopping that idea around since before K+8 ended. After 2 1/2 years, no network has been interested. Does she just keep recycling all her show ideas, over and over, hoping some network exec changes their mind? Oh, please. Here's how a dating show would work-men show up, Kate is nice at first. Then she starts criticizing their weight, hair, they way the breathe, eat, walk, talk...then come the love taps. The men who receive love taps sue the network for allowing them to be physically attacked on TV. Network has to pay out to all the men who were hit. Kate, now without a show, starts recycling her "ideas" again. Travel show, cooking show, another dating show, revamped K+8, fitness show, talk show, lather. rinse repeat.

It's really sad that she can't respect Jon's request that she leave the children off twitter, and instead just escalates her posts about them. It's kind of sick. His request was both simple and reasonable and extending an Olive branch and complying would be a tremendous help in actually co parenting for once. It's give and take. Kate goes along with some of what Jon would like and in turn he gives in on some of what she'd like. She may find herself better off if she'd just try a little compromise.

Well, I don't know about you guys, with your dentist or orthodonist, but mine would have canceled the appointment or refused to see me if I were sick. So, as a few have said here, if kids are that sick why take them to the Dentist & ortho, or did she? She just gave conflicting posts. First, a few kids were sick, but then she took them to the Dentist & ortho, and school sports, now all 8 are sick, including the dog, and the twins offered to cook dinner for her when she got back. So, did the twins watch the 6 pk, while Kate over drama the weather to get the kids medicine? Which as one said here, she could not pick up on the way home?

What school sports? Kids go back to school on Monday. There are varsity basketball games tomorrow, but not today. I seriously doubt that any of the 3rd graders are on the varsity team!

Struggling in the snow? Good gawd. Yes, the roads were slippery at that time (late afternoon), but she makes it sound like she fought her way through a foot of snow with burlap bags tied around her ankles. She walked from her car into her house on a coating to an inch of snow. She paid enough for that house...if she bought one with an attached garage she wouldn't have to struggle through a coating of snow.

Such drama, and the sheeple just eat it up.

She can't. She said that the kids are an extension of herself. If she left the kids out of the tweets, then the sheeple would have nothing to gush over. She must use them to get admiration from the fans. It's all part of the whole package. She's a tired, fantastic mom who does everything for her kids. If she doesn't tweet about them, then how could she make herself out to be a struggling, tired, over-worked mom who does everything for her kids? She has to prove to the sheeple that the sacrifices she makes is for them. The fans, in turn, give her the sympathy she so desperately needs.

She needs a new schtick. I mean even if this thing with the kids WAS working they're going to grow up and fast and then what? How can she tweet about the kids when they're at various colleges and too busy with academics, friends and activities to bother to update her with the cute things they said all the time? What is her plan then? She needs to come up with a plan B now. She needs to develop a life beyond just cute things they say and vomit.

I smiled when the bar owner said Starbucks could have resolved their issue by giving him the courtesy of a simple phone call. Exactly what I said! Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Why not save everyone a lot of time, stress and money, skip the lawyers and just try to talk things out first? More often than not just asking nicely can accomplish a lot, and cheaply too.

This is a rather controversial article that I read about New Year's Resolutions and I can't find the darn thing anymore. But it was sort of a cynical take on life, about how people mos care about what you have to offer them and until you accept that you will be endlessly frustrated. I'm not sure I agree with all the points, but I think it has some good advice for someone like Kate. In particular, it basically says stop saying you want to do this or that (I want a show, etc.) and start saying I want to change this about ME and those things may flow from that. Or they may not, but it starts with you learning a new skill or trying something new, focusing more on something like your looks or even trying to change your personality.
