agree pro- pit bulls and German shepherds. Any dog can bite. Depends on a responsible owner if they get the correct training, but many animals will bite if in extreme danger or sense of fear.
I think our local weather guy just mentioned another nor'easter headed this way next Wednesday and Thursday. Not again. Jersey and New York can't take another one.
That's the thing, they are animals and sometimes animals do things animals do. Humans bite and kill too. The alternative is to never allow other humans or animals in your life and that's not a choice I'm willing to make. They've enriched my life too much. Ill risk it.

Actually, marathon would have taken hotel rooms that locals need and as a credit to the marathon sponsor, they were going to donate $2 million to the relief effort even if the marathon didn't take place. Can you imagine running a marathon that starts at Staten Island, which was DEVASTATED? The residents there were up in arms about it and I don't blame them. They lost their homes and all of their possession. 19 people died there including two little children. They are using a school as a morgue. It is not a place of celebration. To the credit of some of the marathon runners, instead of going to run the marathon, they were going to go and donate their time to the relief effort. I am so glad that they cancelled it and the relief and rescue effort can go on with even more people helping.

Regarding the NYC marathon- I have mixed feelings about the cancellation, only because my
daughter was going to be running in it. She also had very mixed feelings about doing so, but finally decided that she would run Sunday and then stay a few days and help with relief efforts. I feel bad for her because she has spent the last couple of days figuring out the logistics of getting there and where to volunteer to help. I also feel bad for those runners who have already arrived from out of state and from out of the county to find out now that it's been cancelled.
My main problem with the cancellation is that it should have been cancelled on Tuesday, not less than 48 hours before start time. The powers that be should have realized that there would be outrage about it and that this was not the time to have it. However, they kept saying it was on, and only now have finally decided to cancel it. One of the reasons that I am happy it was cancelled because I would be worried for the safety of all the participants.
So, yes, in a way I do feel bad it was cancelled, but I also do feel it was for the best. I also feel that it should never have been given the go ahead in the first place and I wish that thought had crossed Mayor Bloomberg's and the NYRR a lot earlier than today.

I'm watching a video of the long lines, and a commentary on the price of gas...that prices are in line with the national average and that both states have a cap on gas prices. With the exception of a few places, station owners are obeying the law, or so they say.
Interesting look at price-capping and another view of the anti-gouging laws...

They interviewed the manager or owner of one of the major hotel chains, and he said that if it came down to honoring a reservation of a marathon runner and letting someone remain there who is homeless after the storm, he knows exactly which one would be his priority.

Kate is a Twit and Marie, I agree with both of you. The marathon should never have been given the go ahead in the first place. I was surprised when the hubs and I watched the news yesterday morning and they said the marathon was going to go on. In light of everything that happened, it would have been in very poor taste to do that because the resources were needed for the people who were devastated by the storm. I'm glad they cancelled it.

I think most of the marathon participants will be ok w/the cancellation- there are more marathons and I am sure they understand the fury of Mother Nature will trump a city's plans any day of the week. It is better for the city's resources to be used for the victims of the storm, they really are in need. Maybe the NYC marathon should donate $2 million :)

Thanks everyone. My daughter was running for a charity, Boston Childrens Hospital, and the good news is that those funds that she and her patient partner raised will still go to the hospital as they were all prepaid donations. They weren't based on whether she ran or not.

In Milo's mindset, that person doesn't exist. He's dead. Kate's raising these kids all by herself, with no support from anyone. Milo is more than annoying. She's a boil on Twitter. A group of volunteers from Allina (medical group) left the midwest a few days ago to help with the hurricane relief efforts. They did not fly first class, they way Ms. Gosselin does.
They didn't even have seats! They were lined up shoulder to shoulder on benches along the outside edges of the airplane with medical and other gear stacked up down the middle of the plane.
I'm not seeing it as 'superfunsandy' for them. Or the recipients of their efforts.
Sheesh I hope the sheeple never are managing editor at a publication and authorizing paying people for stories when they are all available for FREE right on Twitter. LOL, the sheer stupidity.

Since it is safe to assume they private email through Kate's blog, maybe that is how they think they know each other. Maybe Kate send the poor dear a card or something, and it was off to the races from there. Remember that poor BrownieLow girl or who ever she was? Billy sang "Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway" and "Under the Boardwalk" (with Steven Tyler). The footage they are showing of the devastation is incredible. We've already donated, but I'm sending more. I just hope that every little bit helps.
At first I thought that it would be good for people to feel like things are back to normal if they held the marathon. But I was at the gym and the local news was on, something I never watch, but they went out there and interviewed several LA people who were going to run this marathon and all of them said they wanted it to be cancelled because they were told that generators that families needed would be necessary to power the marathon and they could not live with the idea of a family being cold or without power so they could run their race. There was even a woman who is running one marathon every week for 52 weeks for pancreatic cancer and even she said dont worry I'll find another.
There is a marathon in Santa Ana they're going to do this weekend instead. There are other marathons going on around the country people can still run in. Runners are a nice group.
Just read that someone on Paul Petersen's staff is urging Marathon runners to donate their hotel room, already paid, for a storm survivor or the Red Cross to use.
Nice idea for that that can manage it.
Also, Bethany someone? Reality show person? Donated 50K. In real life you can sort of ignore the people muttering to themselves, but it's harder when they are in your face on a blog.
Claiming I know who they are? That's just ridiculous and creepy. I don't know them at all.
It seems to me 90% of what Radar writes about is just picked up from fleeting comments on Twitter, facebook or even publicly. It's all for free.
I never look at them at all anymore they are so ridiculous. They even say ridiculous things about Kate. I remember they completely made up some Dance Mom story and I actually believe Kate when she said that's insane and completely untrue. I believe her because there's no way she would let her kids be the star of the show or be part of an "ensemble" of big personalities, Dance Moms would be at the bottom of her list of exploitation projects. In any case I believe her denial of that one and I think Radar just makes things up or does something lazy like makes a non-story out of twitter.
SIL in NJ is still out of power, but the house is just fine. The family has beach property which was beach front in Point Pleasant and it's been condemned.
She's spending her days looking and waiting for gas and food, and going to the mall to recharge electronics and get warm for the day.
So there's Kate, steeped in the thoughts of her next hair appointment since Ted Gibson is open.
Her memory is so selective. Not long ago, she took a Red Cross blanket photo as part of a campaign that asked local Philly "celebs" to pose and she has not ONCE mentioned any contact or donation information for the Red Cross.
Another local who posed with the RC blanket, Kevin Bacon, took part in the fund raiser tonight.

The nice thing about running is it's very easy to run your own marathon or join up with another. All you need is a good pair of sneakers and a map.
I'm guessing a lot of runners will find other events to run in this weekend, that other events will be very generous in allowing late entries, and that there will be a lot of charitable giving of their money and time this weekend. This may turn out to really inspire people that when things get cancelled you figure out other even better ways.

I, too, watched the fund raiser on NBC. The photos were truly heartbreaking. We are donating and so are family and friends. And then someone posts Kate's tweet about how happy she is that Ted Gibson is back in business. I am at a loss for words and yet so outraged by her own self centeredness and her total lack of compassion for any other human being on earth. I am just dumbfounded by her attitude and her own lack of self awareness that she will publicize it, as if everyone should join in her happiness because now she can get her hair done.
She is a pathetic excuse for a human being. I have stronger feelings, but I can't bring myself to put into words how vile I think she is.

I saw Alec Baldwin and his wife on a news show last night, they are staying in a hotel because they have two dogs and did not want to walk twelve flights several times a day. But - they are returning to their apartment building daily to do errands and shopping for elderly neighbors, and walk some of their neighbors dogs for them! And not seeking attention, the news crew in powerless section of the city happened to spot them walking.

This is why people who have narcissists in their lives are perpetually furrowing their brows trying to make sense of them and end up endlessly frustrated never finding a real answer.

I have said many times I was frustrated with GWOP for not updating enough and having too many rules so finally decided to start my own. You can do the same if you don't like this blog, it's a free country. I have not tried to hide that, but I have nothing against them and given that they still have all my recaps up there, they have nothing against me or they would take them down. I still check them out when I get a chance and think it was a great blog at the time. No one here has bashed GWOP other than to say they were frustrated with too many rules. Nice try.
People will decide for themselves which blogs they want to go to. Those things have a way of working themselves out.

Do you honestly not know who your source really was? I find that very hard to believe. You said you verified your source. Is you know who he really is. If, as you say, he is no longer contacting you then why don't you tell your posters wh he is?
Okay, so your only issue is I won't reveal the source. Regardless if I talked to them two days ago or two years ago, I go by what my source last told me, and that is that they didn't want to be revealed. End of story, they will not be revealed unless they say it's okay. Ten years from now they will never be revealed unless they say it's okay.
This is pretty darn standard in the world of journalism and sources. You don't reveal them unless they say it's okay. It's my rule, has always been my rule since I was 18 years old and wrote my first article, and you aren't changing my mind on it so if that's all you got, give it up. Besides I think the posters here have a pretty darn good idea who it could be anyway, so what. Put yourself in the shoes of the source and think what you would want. You would want someone to respect your wishes.

I can see that. It's almost that the more she's fed, the worst it becomes. She wasn't always this bad, but as time goes by and she's given more "stuff" from her fans, she's on a high. It's almost to the point now where she needs it to survive. She can't give up Twitter now because the withdrawal pains would be too difficult. You're right -- there is no understanding of societal norms. She can't take a cue from society as to what the acceptable pattern of behavior would be in a certain situation.

Drug addicts have one priority, the drugs. They care less and less about what normal people care about and they stop caring about societal norms. Even simple please and thank you, concern about what is happening around them, all fall away as the drug becomes their priority. Kate's priority is fame and to some extent money and nothing, NOTHING else matters. Societal norms have fallen away for her, long fallen away. She doesn't CARE. This is why she doesn't care or know about the hurricane--a drug addict also wouldn't care or know until, oh sh&t they are knee deep in water. Same thing.

It's funny how actors that you normally have associated with comedy, I.e., Brian Cranston (Malcolm in the Middle now Breaking Bad) and Katey Sagal ((Married With Children now Sons of Anarchy) have turned out to be two of the finest dramatic actors in their current series. My vote for best young actor goes to Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy.
It may have been mentioned already, but TLC or Discovery has dona a show ( or 2?) on Jani. The father struck me as being similar to kate. I wasn't aware that he wrote a book.
A few minutes into the show, I was wondering how grown-up Jani will feel, knowing that millions of people watched a show about her. Sad.
This is a little late to the discussion but, Admin, the big difference between running the marathon after 9/11 and running the marathon this year is that the marathon was 2 months after the terrorist attacks and not the same week. People were beginning to regain their equilibrium and to go back to "normal" life, instead of being completely focused on the devastation. There were still many signs of the attacks, of course, but recovery was well underway by that time.
Two months after 9-11 was nothing. On the contrary I think the main difference was who caused the act, terrorists vs mother nature. It was important to send a message to the terrorists we won't change our lives because of them. That is exactly what they want, for marathons and other things Americans do to be crippled.
Here the enemy is mother nature and there is no need to show her she won't get us down because she will always be here no matter what we cancel. It does not give her any leverage to cancel or change whether there will be hurricanes in the future.

I disagree completely. Holding a marathon that requires resources (police, hotel rooms, etc.) that would be diverted to the event at a time when those resources are needed to help the city's residents is completely different than holding a marathon two months after a tragic event. There was no immediate post-9/11 need compromised by the marathon. It is an apples and oranges comparison.

Mandy--we haven't ignored Liz posting the pictures. If you read back, there were several comments about it.
Are you saying that Kate's twitter pictures don't make the rag mags? Do you remember the picture of Mady's legs? How about babble.com publishing pictures that Kate didn't even tweet, but are on her twitter picture page? You can see them here:

There certainly was immediate need for anyone missing a loved one. They were still searching for remains two months out. Every emergency worker who helped with that marathon could have been on site working recovery. Depends how you define immediate need but believe me there were a heck of a lot of people saying even then this marathon was taking away precious resources. It was a controversy even then, but it was the right thing to do. As is canceling, conversely, this marathon.

Hard to tell who knew who was doing what on twitter/fb whatever. I don't obsessively monitor my loved one's facebooks to see what they are posting and whether I approve, that's weird.
I think the true test is whether posting pics will happen again. Now everyone should be on notice it's an issue. I think some people are naive and don't understand or appreciate the kind of vileness they expose the kids too by doing that. Now that everyone knows, we'll have to see if pictures appear again. If they do, at that point there's no excuse.
Kind of a shame since those were nice pics under normal circumstances wouldn't be an issue.
I think part of this, frankly, has less to do with anyone having a serious problem with a couple blurry pics posted, but rather with the sheeple wanting to distract and get rid of the fact that these kids look happy, relaxed and are WITH their father when Kate acted like they were with her, a man they like to pretend has passed away.
Not saying the folks here, I'm talking about Kate's fans. Folks here have more rational reasons why the kids pics are an issue. As I recall the majority here took issue with it for reasons well explained.
People were outraged, and rightly so, that the marathon was going to be run in the midst of all the destruction and continuing suffering.
The starting line was to have been on Staten Island where 20 people were killed, and scores of homes were demolished. Residents have no power, but industrial-sized generators and rows of port-o-potties were sitting unused at the race starting line. Hurricane victims taking shelter in hotels were being forced to leave to accommodate the runners.
Vital resources would have been taken away from those in need. Sanitation workers were going to be taken away from storm-ravaged areas to help with the race cleanup. Police officers so desperately needed to help victims would have been assigned to the race. Roads would have been closed, further delaying supplies getting to the area.
Obviously, the thought of losing out on millions of dollars in revenue from the race was the driving force behind not cancelling it immediately. Had the decision to cancel been made much earlier, at least people traveling to NYC from great distances might have been able to change their travel plans.
It was reported this evening that many, many runners will be heading to Staten Island and elsewhere to help with the cleanup. Kudos to them. I have a feeling they will find that work and the assistance they will be giving to others to be far more fulfilling and life-affirming than running in any race.

No, I don't. There are a million photos of kids with pit bulls all around the internet and no one makes a big deal. Where are all the sheeple protecting all those kids? I don't think it makes one bit of difference the kids are famous.

Look, I may not understand it but I see that many of you think Jon walks on water. To his kids, he may have. They probably DID feel safe and secure and relaxed when with him. Reading all these tweets from both fans and non-fans of KK is making me really sad tonight. Her fans have a skewed vision of Kate's world - don't want to open their eyes, only see the PR created world of KG and her as the mother to end all mothers. And then on the other hand are the non-fans who are tweeting to her 24/7 about what a horrible person she is (which given - SHE IS). What makes me sad is thinking that her kids could ever see any of this - even 5 years from now. All the blogs, all the articles, all the tweets - what would that do to a child to see all these things written about both their parents? I wonder what they will think about all of us who watched and cared about them but are seriously outraged by their mother and father?

Is Liz's twitter private? Not sure if thats the word...I don't twitter and don't know much about it at all. If it is private,that means someone with access breached Liz's trust and took it upon themselves to make the pictures public.

Mandy, Jon is a MAN lol. They never know what's going on. He's also working and busy being a daddy. I can't tell you he didn't know, but I can't tell you he did either. I wish we knew who knew what but since we don't I kind of see this as going in circles.
One possible scenerio: Jon hasn't talked to Liz much about the exploitation. Maybe he had a brief conversation about filming and left it at that, not wanting to dredge up the past or involve her. It's been more than a year now. Maybe Liz didn't think he would care about a few blurry pics since that's not filming. People often do things thinking they are no big deal when they ARE a big deal to someone else. That's human nature.
Another scenerio, Liz knew he didn't like pics posted and did it anyway. Lord knows girlfriends don't always do what their boyfriends want.
A third scenerio: Liz asked permission, Jon feels enough time has passed and doesn't care that Liz wanted to post a few pics since they were blurry and it was only a few.
A fourth scenerio: Kate keeps lying or lying by omission about having the kids and Liz, Jon or both got fed up and decided to just post a few pics to subtly say F-U Kate we DO have the kids and you don't and you know it. And they plan to leave it at that, the point has been made.
A fifth scenario: Liz was posting pics for National Pit Bull Day like everyone else does not thinking ANYTHING OF IT because sometimes people just don't think.
All these scenerios in my opinion are very real possibilities. All of them disappoint me in one way or the other for different reasons. But am I willing to say for sure which one of these or a different one occurred, no I really don't know.
