Kate's new show won't feature Jon or the kids

We were so relieved to hear this today ... it's being reported that Kate's new show she has been in the works with for months with TLC will be just Kate. And we say, just thank God!

The show will also feature Kate being filmed trying out different jobs, reportedly a "firefighter." Kate has also been spotted cooking at a restaurant. And reportedly, her new haircut was filmed. So, guess that job was, being a desperate housewife?

Don't care, won't watch, will only last a couple of episodes anyway. Without a doubt TLC will continue with this farce until Jon's trial is over and then it's bye bye Kate!
however, I am glad the kids are not going to be filmed.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Reworked, redone, new time slot, missing characters .... these kinds of things almost ALWAYS fail in TV land. Look at Jay Leno. Don't mess with a good thing.

The kids and Jon were crucial to the success of the show. So was Kate. But having JUST KATE is missing a huge part of why the show worked.

Anonymous said...

I am wondering if it could be named.
Faking jobs
Kate~plus~fake
What not to wear to work
How not to work.

According to David Zurawic, his opinion is that the network TLC is scraping the bottom of the barrel releasing this by an unknown source to try to make something out of nothing.

Remember, in fall of 2009, when they were starting to focus on just Kate ratings plummeted as low as 1.6 million.

This shows that Kate is just really the puppet on the string. She already took a paycheck from TLC to destroy her family & leave her in heavy debt. Now, she is getting a paycheck & hair. Oh boy, I think we all wanna be like Kate.

The good thing is this should be a humbling experience for someone who thinks she is the next Celine Dion, Reba McIntyre or Mike Rowe.

And, yes, I am grateful that this does not involve the children. That is the only good news about this bogus news release.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It is certain to fail. Certain. I will bet money on it. We already know just Kate doesn't work because as you pointed out Irene, the last several episodes were mostly about Kate and the ratings plummeted.

As soon as Kate no longer brings in money, TLC will have no use for her. Does she honestly think TLC is going to take care of her the rest of her life? She is one dillusional woman.

Anonymous said...

Kate best save some money, pay off some debt, and live within her means.

She might have a tv movie, book and this failing new show and then she just might have to return to raising her children & cutting coupons.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Why she has any debt at all just baffles me. They could very easily be financially set for life if they did a few SIMPLE things. First, pay of ALL DEBT and don't take on any more. Do you know how many people would kill to be able to pay off all their debt? And how much you can save in interest over the years if you do. Second, Save money. Put money you won't touch for decades in stocks, put money you want in the next few months or years in CDs or money markets. Don't increase your spending much, try to maintain your normal lifestyle and save, save, save. You will reach the point where your money will pay you. A few million in the bank and you've got a steady income of interest coming in. Bingo, set for life. It's that easy. They are sooo dumb.

Anonymous said...

Right, and they were so wasteful. I bet they were blowing it as fast as they got it. That is the problem.

Remember, the kind of grifter Kate is doesn't think about tomorrow. She is thinking this will never come to an end.

Wait until Jon can no longer pay his child support or is not available when she needs to film.

I agree with you totally. We will have to see.

It only took Leno 7 months for NBC to pull on him.

What is her plan B?

I hope I did this right, this is suppose to be a link where TV guide has a report from TLC that they NOT have a show for Kate yet. And so goes the gossip mill!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Well TLC must think we're stupid, because there is evidence of Kate being filmed doing her stupid things she does. She was filmed cooking in a restaurant, as well as doing her hair. Do they expect us to believe they're just filming her for their own health?

I think it could be possible they are throwing out little hints of the kind of shows they want to do to see how the public reacts. Then they backpeddle when we ridicule the concepts they've come up with.

Debbie said...

I agree and personally think TLC is doing the minimum they HAVE to do in order to keep Kate happy for now. I think they will string her along with promise a of show BUT that show will not happen until AFTER jon's case is resolved. THEN TLC will do her show but with very little effort or money put into it because once the case is over they no longer have to keep Kate happy. Just my opinion but a good one!

Anonymous said...

Laurie Goldberg issued an update to the statement about this new show concept to Thewrap.com today. She basically said they do not know what they are going to do like the Date Kate rumor out there. But, they are working on ideas.

Believe me bloggers, TLC, is desperate. Like David Zurawic on Z on TV column said today. The wrap.com read right out of the tlc playbook. The problem is so much controversy follows this woman.

Her whole brand centered around her being the ideal mom (like a Carol Brady) that stayed at home and did a reality show to provide for 8 adorable kids & being a wife. Well, now she is divorced. 2nd she now only spends half her time with her children (it was her choice) and that half of the half of time she is walking down Rodeo Dr of Reading, Pennsylvania trying to keep herself noticed.

This is why when this all started Kate took Jon to Dr. Phil. The marriage is over, the brand irretrievably broken, & the children can no longer be filmed.

Winning the lawsuit against Jon will get TLC monetary damages, but putting those kids back to work after all the public outrage will kill the Discovery Network. They are really in a pile of Monkey Munch if you ask me. And, at the end of the day Discovery will not allow the company to go done for a lady with a 1.2 million dollar sprawling estate in Wernersville, Pennsylvania with 8 mouths to feed, clothe and educate.

It would be cheaper for all involved if they would pay off Kate's house and tell the woman to stay home and take care of her kids.
Whatever happened to bowing out gracefully.

Anonymous said...

You know, Discovery has a decent show out there already--Dirty Jobs--Mike Rowe is affable and likeable, although they are running out of ideas.
Why would anyone want to watch Kate complain and carp her way through different jobs? Because that, my friends, is how the show will be. If Kate is supposed to be so strong, organized, and "can-do"--what is supposed to be the draw of the show? It will get pretty boring just watching Kate completing tasks efficiently and gracefully.

steph said...

This is the quote from TLC on the tv guide site:

"Not so fast, TLC says.
"This is just the latest speculation from supposed sources. Last week everyone was announcing Date Kate. We are still in development and looking at a number of ideas," TLC Senior Vice President of Communications Laurie Goldberg said in a statement. "When we have determined what the show will be, you will hear directly from us."

I really don't think they know what to do with her and are stringing her along until after they're finished w/Jon's lawsuit. I think they're still holding out hope they'll get to film the kids again.

When Kate was 'caught' filming in the restaurant I do remember TLC saying they were filming some kind of study or test, which IS something that networks do. And with Kate as their star, something I'd highly recommend they take advantage of. Their filming could be something like a screen-test to see how she relates to the camera or 'co-workers'. But, I'm just speculating just like everyone else.

As of right now, the only thing we know for sure is 1. the kids aren't being filmed and 2. Kate is desperate to get back in front of the camera.

IMO, she was 'performing' when she was having her hair done with all the screaming and vamping she did - a stunt/ploy/reaction she used frequently when she wanted to be 'cute' on J&K+8 -- remember her squeals and smiles at the camera?

Whatever TLC's plan for her - they don't appear to be moving very quickly, nor does it seem they even know what to do with her. But considering what they have to work with - I don't blame them for dragging their feet! Let TLC waste a ton of $$ creating a show for her and in turn lose even more credibility. I'm fine with them all appearing even more desperate and fool-hardy than they have already.

They deserve each other. As long as they keep the kids off of tv I don't care what they do other than probably getting some satisfaction out of snarking at their foolishly desperate attempts to make something out of nothing.

So far the options of Kate Gosselin.

Kate cannot join Paula Deen too controversial.
Kate cannot go back to nursing. That would mean she would have to work.
Kate cannot be on Dancing with the stars. She said herself she cannot dance.
Kate cannot be a talk show host. Her The View tryout-enough said.
Kate cannot be on Kate plus 8 because her kids are not allowed to be filmed.
Kate cannot be a cartoon character voice-NO OFFERS
Kate cannot be an extra in a movie-there is not demand for a Carol Brady turned Britney Spears.
Kate cannot be on Broadway-that requires singing & dancing abilities & her hair takes too long to fix.
Kate cannot be on any cover but Tabloids like OK, US & People legitimate magazines tell the truth.

Finally, Kate cannot be anywhere except with TLC & The bodyguard Steve Nield-no one else wants to be around her anyway.

Also, any show that has to do with Kate has to revolve around Kate. Think about it people. She doesn't cook, clean, work or take care of her kids herself so how in the world will she do it for other people or places.

Anonymous said...

Exacty Stephanie. Straight from TLC playbook. Plant it in a tabloid like arena with anonymous sources. Then watch it whirl around the internet then go to TV by the numbers, TV guide etc and fix it up. Classic TLC.

I have learned alot about TV in the past year. Tlc cannot reinvent her they are hoping the controversy keeps her relevent so that when they break Jon viola epiphany, drumroll. Kate plus 8 can come back. Kate's brand is nothing, dead in the water without the children that made her famous in the 1st place.

Anonymous said...

Hi Irene,

I noticed you mention you have 8 kids, you sure must have a lot of free time on your hands. How can that be? Gee, maybe you should be with your kids instead of on the computer.

steph said...

Irene,
The industry moving tv along is BIG; big players, money, high stakes. When 'big' falls, it falls big and hard. I'm waiting for someone like Z to expose the story behind their 'making of the family Gosselin'. TLC and it's many tentacles are far reaching and grew to it's biggest because of J&K, but that's over and with each revelation about their involvement in the Gosselin's lives they lose even more credibility. They're appearing more and more desperate with each attempt to keep the Kate 'brand' relevant.

Dear Administrator,

Why don't you use this site to make people aware of the poor, suffering children of Haiti. and what people can do to support the relief effort there.

Anonymous said...

Yes, steph, the Z on TV blogsite is in overtime today. I think they had a down day at TLC & are having everyone promote Kate.

They cannot decide though. Is Kate the single mother or the rising star? And, yes, we are trying our darndest to get David Zurawik to commit to that unauthorized story of the Gosselins.

Annie said...

Hey, Anonymous...why don't you go to the NEWS site and read about it yourself instead of preaching to others. We (okay, speaking for myself here) have already donated. What have YOU done?

If your really are the child advocates you "say" you are then the administrator would call a "truce" and post a picture and number or address where Hatian relief money can be sent. Enough Said!

Anonymous said...

Hey doofus anonymous, this site is about the Gosselins. Go elsewhere to preach about Haiti.
That being said, I think another reason why TLC has not said anything "official" about a specific show for Kate is because they're still hoping to feature the kids somewhere down the line.
As far as I'm concerned I don't really care what Kate does for her so-called TV career, as long as the kids aren't being filmed anymore. I don't find her interesting, likeable, funny, or relateable--so I won't watch. For those fans that idolize her--well they can watch--it's a free country.

Lauren said...

Anon @ 2:03 - Why doesn't Kate do something for the Haitian people - like donate $7,000 to the relief effort.

Stop pointing the finger at this site. We are having an intelligent conversation about the Gosselins. I'm sure you can find a home at a pro-Gosselin site. Negativity is so pointless.

I hate to feed the trolls, but just because we're discussing Jon and Kate doesn't mean we don't care about causes like the terrible tragedy in Haiti. I myself try to give as much as I can to charity, and I volunteer quite a bit. I am sure each and every visitor here will do something for the people of Haiti if they have not already. For myself, I participate in Jaycees, Habitat for Humanity, and the Red Cross. Actually after Hurrican Katrina, a similar tragedy, me and a group of my friends from law school flew out there, on our dime, to spend 7 days out there helping them rebuild and working with some lovely people in St. Bernard Perish. I cannot describe the devastation there. We did what we could.

That said, there are so many charities I am passionate about that I don't think it's appropriate to feature only one. We are all intelligent people, I trust that when you are ready to give to Haiti, you can easily find the Red Cross or a similar reputable charity and give what you can. You don't need this blog to do so. Or perhaps you will even go there. I assure you the experience when I went to New Orleans was life-changing.

Also, to add to Administrator I was humbled and honored to hear Former President Bill Clinton give such a passionate plea for Money. He set his website up fast begging for cash $5.00 each & he would pipe the money as fast as possible.

As a Katrina Survivor I will tell you 1st hand the people who came to South Mississippi, volunteering, offering cash, heck the country of Qatar gave our hospital millions to help people. It was just inspiring. The U.S.A. is something when tragedy strikes & it brings out the best in America.

Now...Kate & her new show. She has an uphill PR battle ahead of her. People are starting to wake up and smell the monkey munch. I hear rumors swirling that she may not be happy about the hair? I wonder how the stylists feel about that?

Debbie said...

I was just watching TV Guide channel and they roll news along the bottom of the screen. There was a quote from the head of TLC Productions saying they are still working on a show for Kate, right after that TV Guide ran a statement saying "In all fairness we still can't figure out exactly what Jon and Kate was really about so don't let that stop you, TLC" hahahaha maybe TV Guide channel has their number too!

I heard that the AARP is matching donations, so there ya go what a great way to give.

I do think this is a prime example of why Kate's lifestyle and Jon's lifestyle and their priorities are so incredibly scewed.

Anonymous said...

That is great about AARP.

BTW, I do blog alot and my opinions are not always well received. Do not worry about defending me. I have 8 kids yes, but I can handle my own. So thanks Anonymous, but nasty emails and venom, spewed my way means nothing. I just do not want the Gosselin children to return to television. As far as the media is concerned well when you are getting information on the Gosselins from Radaronline god only knows what is true or not. TLC is purposely leaking to tabloid then mopping up. And, in lean economy anyone who hollars enough to bring in a dollar gets noticed.

Sad, reality and sign of our culture.

Hi everyone (I am not a troll)

I hate to inform you but the number of people who blog in favor of Kate or against Kate are a very insignificant number in the bigger picture.

All that the blogging does (either for or against) keeps the Gosselins in the media. The administrator has an excellent idea,if you ignore them they will fade into obscurity so fast it will make your head spin.

In my real life most of the people I know could care less about the Gosselin's one way or the other.

Don't you realize that TLC loves all this blogging. They don't care if it's for or against. Any publicity is good publicity. What it does is peak the interest of people who could care less either way. Hey maybe I check out what all the fuss is about. People in general don't really care.

I believe that most of the haters or lovers have become a tad obsessed about the whole situation. I really believe everyone needs to step away from their computers and take a deep breath and look around their own communities and see what they can do to help those in need.

There are children in our communities who really need advocates. The Gosselin children do not need your help.

I know all the so called advocates are patting themselves on the back because they think they are responsible for the children not being filmed anymore.

The reality is you had nothing to do with it. Jon pulled his children off tv to try and force TLC to let him out of his contract. The blackmail attempt didn't work. Jon is still under contract with TLC and they are making him honor it. He signed it after consulting an attorney and his agent. Now he's decided there are more lucrative opportunities out there for him and because of his horrible legal advise (Heller) he is now in breach of contract.

TLC is a corporation and when you sign a contract with them they expect you to honor it.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard mean old TLC lets Kate do interviews or whatever she wants to do and they won't let poor pitiful Jon do anything. I just shake my head when I read this. Can people really be that naive and ignorant? The things that Kate does are done with TLC's approval while Jon did not receive their approval. It is as simple as that.

Jon's problem is he has received horrible legal counsel and I hope he sues him for malpractice.

Let me make it perfectly clear. I am not a fan of Kate or Jon. I am not trying to put anyone down. I am honestly trying to figure out why people are so obsessed over two people they do not personally know and based on a scripted tv show.

I know that everyone says the children were being expolited and they wanted them off tv. Well the children are off tv and people continue to criticize from the shoes she wears, her outfits, her hair and how she spends her free time when she doesn't have custody of the kids.

The last time I checked this is a free country and we can wear whatever shoes we want, whatever clothes we want and we can even dye out hair pink if we want to.

There will be much written, studied and discussed about the Gosselin's past, present and future.

They gave away their privacy when they signed on the dotted line. It was made worse when the family was brand as an ideal family with extraordinary circumstances & it was all not that way.

Many marriages could not and would not stand the pressure of the microscope the Gosselins were under?

What fascinates me is what price is any family willing to pay to keep their family in this kind of scrutiny up?

Finally, how do you re-brand a woman that is supposed to be the ideal mom, who wasn't?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Anoymous, I appreciate your viewpoint and your careful way of presenting it in a respectful manner.

It's also a free country to criticize others for what they wear, say and do! Don't get me wrong, it is a tremendous relief to see the kids out of the public eye. 90% of my concerns have been eased. I don't lose sleep over them at this point. Nonetheless, their parents actions still trickle down to them. Their mother and father making absolute goons of themselves every day still affects them, be it at school being teased, be it the paparazzi still stalking them, be it sometime in the future looking back on this and discovering all of this. The lawsuit directly affects them, and Kate and her shows directly affect them--will they be on the show, or how often will Kate not be there for them? And certainly, any of Jon's girlfriends affect them. That is, potentially, their new stepmother. The kids are still highly relevant. And this will always be relevant as long as reality programs continue to involve children. When TLC is STILL, STILL advertising for families of multiples to be filmed on their own web site, yes, I still stay hyper vigilent. Let this never, ever happen again to another child.

Anonymous said...

Well said. The Gosselin children deserve nothing but a childhood for the rest of their childhood. I cannot imagine how those children will feel if they are to begin another career filming.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I can share with you that I was once a nanny just a few years ago for two children of a rather famous celebrity. She was very much addicted to her fame in much the same way Kate was. She sought out opportunities to be seen, photographed, and take full advantage of her status.

Unlike Kate, however, she was typically very careful not to expose her kids to the media. Photoshoots were rare and she didn't take them out in public much. But I can tell you, being a child of someone with that kind of relationship with the press and public is incredibly hard.

I think it all boils down to this. When you are a child, you're supposed to be the star. All the focus is supposed to be on you, supporting you, the attention on you, everyone coming to see you and support you. Kids thrive on that kind of attention. You can't spoil a kid with attention as old conventional wisdom used to teach. But when your Mom is famous? Suddenly there is this unnatural shift where whenever you go out, even to a school function, the attention is on her, not you. Try having a school play where you have the lead, only your mom is in the front row and everyone is staring at her. It is a dysfuncional, unnatural dynamic to say the least.

Whoa is me poor little rich kid, yes I suppose. But it's by no means the kind of fairy tale lifestyle people think it is. And think about how many celebrity children get into trouble. Only one example is Redman O'Neil, Farrah Fawcett's son.

The Gosselin children will be dealing with this same thing as they grow up. It is not easy.

I really don't believe Kate calls the paps to the bus stop. When has she ever spoke to a Pap? Never. Meanwhile you have Jon setting up a staged BBQ on the hood of a friends car with all the paps snapping away.

Anonymous said...

It is such a grey area & I believe every word you are saying Administrator. I cannot imagine. And, the pressure Kate has to now remake herself to try to keep the level of celebrity she had with Jon & Kate plus 8 must be enormous. It is just a recipe for an volcano eruption Gosselin style.

I hear the arguments from both sides. Jon trying for publicity vs Kate trying for publicity ad nauseum. They both are trying for publicity. Kate does not have to talk to paparazzi TLC does it for her. Jon talks to paparazzi cuz no one else will give him the time of day. (Well, TLC has gotten some duct tape with an injunction for now)

My point is she has an uphill battle & the collateral damage is 8 kids. They are the exception to the rule. They are 2 kids the same age & 6 kids the same age and they need an enormous amount of emotional support that money cannot buy & absent parents.

Carroll Oconnor's (arhie bunker) comes to mind. He committed suicide in adulthold. This is not Kansas the Gosselin's are in anymore.
