TLC filming for update special

After a long period of no new news about the promised "update special" from TLC, a few locals have spotted Kate and the crew filming around PA this week. Reactions from locals have been universally negative.

Filming locations include Michaels and a casual cafe. Thank you to the locals for keeping a keen eye out.

I think some people think their calling in life is to convince others of the wrongheadedness of their opinions and assert their own superiority.
This is different from expressing an opinion or voicing a thought or engaging in a meaningful debate. The former frames it as a power struggle that they intend to win.

Yes.

Trolling is an addiction too. This strange bone to pick anonymous has is an addiction. It gets very personal for them, though I don't publish the comments, they do tend to pop on every day and pick everyone apart especially me.

Anonymous just told me to enjoy my Memorial Day. Enjoy? I don't consider a holiday of remembrance something to enjoy. It's a somber day. Says a lot about you that you would say that. Now I see where your priorities lie. Now go eat a hotdog for those who died for you... See how it feels to see every word you say attacked? It's silliness, anonymous. Yet this is what you do. I don't care if you want to enjoy today even if I disagree but why would I pick pick pick like that? What joy does it bring me? None. Inevitably you'll say we do the same to Kate and once again I remind you she is a public figure and millions of people do the same to hundreds of public figures all the time. However it's inappropriate to do the same to private people. Your option for public figures who irk you is to say something. Your option for private people who get under your skin however is to leave their turf.

Absolutely. It's a day to remember those in the military over many generations and say thank you.

Showing how people with disabilities lead normal lives is the exact opposite of a freak show.

&&&

You've bought into the propaganda.
*********
I agree with both of you.
To the first notion, yes, it is educational to see that little people are just like everyone else in many ways, and they have special challenges that most people never knew about (health, orthopedically).

10 years later though?
Really?

To Admin's point, which trumps all else, this is entertainment, not a scholarly endeavor.
It's voyeuristic and titillating more than edifying.
It's "must see tv" on premium cable, not PBS.

If Little People wish to live in a glass house, have a reality tv show, and make big bucks and enjoy perks that help mitigate the loss of privacy, then so be it.
When they offer up their adopted children, who have many challenges beyond being little, then I take issue.

I can't imagine a physician or psychiatrist or psychologist on Earth that would recommend cameras in a newly adopted child's home (from foreign countries and less than optimal circumstances), in order to facilitate integration and adaptation.

It's the opposite.
It's abusive, and frankly, I wonder wtf was going through the heads of the PTB who approved this adoption, with cameras in tow, knowing the cameras would be following these kids for years to come, and they would be forfeiting their privacy.

Isn't their situation challenging enough?

Wouldn't that take the cake!

Perfect set up for it.
Just adopted 2 kids.
Jen bravely fought through her cancer treatment (I really, really admire her bravery, btw, and wish her recovery and cure)

These things seem to have brought the two of them closer and I wouldn't be surprised at all if a vow renewal was pitched to them.

TLC definitely has a formula. They just mix up the chronology. What next after Disney?
Who cares.
I do wish Jen good health. At the same time I wish privacy for those children.

Now that Kate knows the difference between Australia and Austria, I'm surprised that TLC didn't send the family to the latter for the update (snark).

When adopting children during pre-adoption there is a homestay interview with a social worker. Did Jen and Bill inform the social worker that the adopted children lives would be filmed? And post-adoption depending on the country the child was adopted from there are a minimum of six months of reports some in person others via forms filled out by the adoptive parents. Did the parents explain at this point the children's lives were being filmed? And if they didn't disclose this important point, what are the legal issues Jen and Bill could be facing.

As an adoptive parent of children from Russia, I know firsthand that the adoptive parents must toe the legal line during pre- and post-adoption. Failure to disclose important facts could result in the children being returned to their home country and the adoption being terminated.

With one exception (Episode 3: Gym, Spa, Shop), I've never watched Little Couple so I looked up TLC's episode guide and surprise, surprise...Jon and Kate, Bill and Jen...there is no difference.

The Little Couple Episode Guide (snipped here and there by me)

SEASON 1
Episode 1: Bill Moves to Houston

Episode 2: Jen's Birthday
Flowers and jewelry just aren't enough for her first birthday as Mrs. Bill Klein, so he whisks Jen out for a romantic dinner after taking her to pick up a specially modified new car.

Episode 3: Gym, Spa, Shop 'Til Bill Drops
As Bill sweats up a storm at the gym, Jen enjoys a girls' day of pampering at the spa.

Episode 4: Work & Play in Galveston
when Jen has to lead a workshop on medical simulation in Galveston, TX, Bill tags along, secretly hoping to get her mind off work with a surprise.

Episode 5: House Hunting
The Little Couple decides to take the plunge and begin the process of house hunting. Only one problem, Jen wants something closer to work and the city, while Bill's heart is set on living in a sprawling home in the 'burbs. Can they reach a compromise?

Episode 6: One Year Anniversary
Can Jen and Bill put aside work and financial tensions long enough to enjoy the day?

Episode 7: Leavin' on a Jet Plane

Episode 8:While the Cat's Away
Bill's having a guys weekend in Vegas for his brother's bachelor party, leaving Jen just a little nervous. She calls and texts him repeatedly until he finally stops answering, sending her into a panic.

Episode 9: Bill's
Bill sets aside his own busy work schedule to complete Jen's wish list of home improvements.

Episode 10: Hawaii Here We Come Part 1
Jen and Bill cannot wait to leave the stresses of work behind them and head off on their first Hawaiian vacation together

Episode 11: Hawaii Here We Come Part 2
With their vacation days in Hawaii numbered, Jen has them booked solid with all that Hawaii has to offer

Episode 12: The Big Bang Theory
Jen enrolls in a self-defense class and Jen tries a few of her new moves on Bill at home.

Episode 13: Wedding Bells Are Ringing
The Little Couple jets off to Disney World for Bill's younger brother Joey's nuptials--but it's anything but a vacation! When Jen gets a monster migraine the day of the wedding Bill may have to face his best man duties alone.

Episode 14: Maybe a Baby?
Jen and Bill are anxious to start a family but they have concerns about Jen's safety during pregnancy.

TLC doesn't even have to use their imagination. Keep using the same formula, that's all there is to it. Whoever is in charge now figured out that if it worked for Eileen O'Neil, it will work for them. It's an expoitation factory and it's unbelievable that audiences have been dumbed down to this extent.

&&&&

Exactly. I don't care of Jen and Bill want to have their show until their heart's content and I believe they have been on awhile now. I only take issue when they bring children into the mix. Very young children who are both adopted and have special needs. That's when you cross the line IMO between education and exploitation. The children certainly do not have to risk their emotional health so some suburban housewife can learn more about obscure medical issues like fluid on the brain and the like.

As far as the education goes, it's still a real stretch to try to claim Little Couple is all that educational. Once in a blue moon they'll mention various medical issues they have. A quick read of Wikipedia could tell you the same, faster and better. I have seen many episodes where nothing is said about any little people issues at all. What was educational about those episodes?

For anyone left who still is not aware of little people and their medical needs and preferences, they're not going to be the kind of people watching TLC in the first place. You've reached a point where you've reached everyone you can with this medium. It's exhausted itself. It's over. Now it's just about money. To say it's anything else is to ignore reality.

YES. Very nice family. Reminded me a lot of the Little People Big World family. They had some rough and tumble boys. Mom was a lot like Amy, very in control and her way or the highway. I liked them a lot. Now that I buy as educational. It was a peek into how a family with special needs was living, you learned a lot about them and how they get buy (very well) and you learned a lot about dwarfism in general. One special, maybe two, and done. Kids can go back to obscurity and the public benefits. Win win.

I imagine that Jen being a doctor, and the couple being financially very secure, that the filming could be glossed over and only viewed as educating the public.

A litte research (pardon the pun) and it turns out Figure 8 Productions describe(d) these kind of programs as "Advanced Medical Productions".

Lo and behold the Fooses started their own blog as a result of this special, but it has only one entry and that was July, 2008:
"Dwarf Family Life - Little People, Real World – no camera edits, no scene setups, no reality scripting"

No reality scripting, no editing, no scene setups?! Well shit no wonder they didn't stick around for a series. They had ethics.

The Arnolds are the TLC darlings (meaning, moneymakers) for now. But the tide will turn, it always does. This time it would take one set of parents who were turned down for foreign adoption to get wind of the Arnolds adopting and exploiting their children on reality TV. Then all heck will break loose. The by product of this would be people who are trying to adopt for the right reasons (something other than reality TV) having their adoptions affected (placed on hold, denied, country stopping adoptions, etc.)

The Arnolds need to get the stars (money) out of their eyes, and get these children off TV. Jen and Bill can film to their hearts desire. Go for it, exposure your luxury life for all to see. Just leave the children out of it.

1of 2 Re: 'The Little Couple - Let's begin w/ a few caveats & a few buts:
1. I am against exploiting your children on reality TV period. BUT to be fair they had no children when the show started and filmed 96 out of 122 episodes with zero children.
2. I actually find the show 'The Little Couple' a bit boring and have only seen a handful of episodes when randomly channel surfing. BUT purposely watched a few (for professional and personal reasons) when Jen was diagnosed w/choriocarcinoma and the adoption from India
3. They appear to be following the usual reality TV plot lines and set ups, so there are some similarities between them and 'J & K plus 8', BUT there's also some huge differences:
-Their website offers helps rather than begging others for help. Very professional and details their services from personal appearances, to branding & marketing expertise, complete with a client list and videos of past engagements. Also, they admit that Julie May Carson is their representative. http://www.thelittlecouple.com
-Sure they want to 'educate' others, but they also also admit that it's all about the $ too.
-They love their parents and their nanny, and freely give them the love & respect that they have earned.
-Like Kate, they also love their crew and their fans, but unlike TFW, they don't consider them family, nor do they re-watch old episodes. In fact, anything personal that is done on camera, is done a second time without any cameras present.
-Unlike J&K, the little couple appear (dare I hope?) to actually like & love (?) each other.

http://www.channelguidemagblog.com/index.php/2013/09/23/the-little-couple-tlc-bill-klein/
Channel Guide Magazine: Was there ever a time when you and Jen doubted your decision to have the cameras following you...
Bill Klein: Our show started of as an education on a type of disability and a type of lifestyle...Then it just morphed into our pursuit of having a family, and all of a sudden it turned into something that touched on people’s lives more directly...

CGM: How much help have your own parents been...
BK: Jen was very fortunate to have the parents that she had and I was very fortunate to have the parents that I have... it was our parents that deserve all the credit...And I can only hope that we’re able to do as good a job with our kids as they were able to do getting us through our tough times.

CGM: Talk about the bane of every new parent’s existence — the day you have to go back to work.
BK: But what we’ve done is — we hired a nanny who has experience as a child life specialist and is formally educated in that, and she also has a lot of experience working with children who have orthopedic disabilities... Normally she’s here for 8 hours a day, five days a week. And I work both at the shop and at home — so, while it sounds like I’m leaving for the day, really I can hear him for most of the day from my office downstairs... We do have careers and we have a lifestyle that requires for us to continue with our careers. And from a realistic perspective, our bodies will not want us to continue the daily grind into our sixties. We will want to — and will probably need to — retire before then. But we can’t do single-income until we’re 52 and then retire. We need to do this during what my old CEO used to call ’the earning years’ and GRIND OUT AS MUCH AS WE CAN WHILE WE HAVE THE TIME TO.
CGM: Were you as astounded as viewers were at how instantly Will took to you and Jen? Tell us about taking a few weeks away from the cameras afterward to bond as a family
BK: I took it very seriously and Jen took it very seriously and the cameras became something we don’t even notice....WE WANTED TO REINFORCE THATE THE CAMERAMAN IS NOT UNCLE CAMERA MAN AND OUR FIELD PRODUCER IS NOT AUNT FIELD PRODUCER, so we wanted to separate that... that was very important. So the very, very much-welcomed vacation from cameras was also very much a requirement on everybody’s part

Dr. Jennifer Arnold: Everyone has been so nice, but when someone knocks on your door, you do get a little nervous... we are at home that is obviously our private time. But seriously, everyone that has come to our door has been very well-intended. I do get it though because people watch us and feel like they know us!

Glamour: How long will you keep doing the series?
Bill: If it became too cumbersome, we’d probably leave it behind, but we’ve gotten good at managing careers and our personal lives and still be able to capture moments that are TV-worthy without it interfering. We still work two full-time jobs and can still cook dinner every night for our son and spend quality time with each other...so right now it's not too bad..we’ll see how having two kids will be. Thank you so much for posting this.

I "get"their strategy, to negotiate raising children publicly, on film, for a tv show.
I don't agree with it, however.

The thing is, still, this is a couple using their children for a financial means to an end, which for the LC, is retiring early (understandably due to health challenges).
The LC, just like Kate, sees a future built on offering up her family and forfeiting their privacy.

My problem is the same- the children can NOT give consent.
They are being used as a means to an end.
Faking one celebration for the cameras and doing a 'private" celebration off camera does nothing to mitigate my feelings.
In fact, it makes it sound even more like the LC's children are working.

One for the cameras (working) and one for the kid, privately (not working).

Their kids and the G kids will understand, one day, that their parents put them to work as minors, without their consent.

Of course, I still ask, "Gee, what do all those other people with large families and special physical challenges do? How do they manage?"

Oh, that's right, they live a mediocre life.

Also, like Kate, the LC have amassed a lifestyle that will be very difficult to maintain after the cameras go away, so they are trying to strike while the iron is hot.
Unfortunately, both the LC and Kate's best bet is to include the kiddies.
Bill's sentiment that if it gets too "cumbersome", they'll change tack.

WTF does that even mean????????????

I think he's another "code-speaker".

OT but not really:

On May 13, Dean's 15-year-old son, Jack, declared on Twitter that the show was being manipulated by producers to make his father look bad.
"'Reality' show my ass!" Jack wrote. "It's all set up plz don't buy into it. My father is not what the show makes him to be, he is a good man."

&&&

They have some good boundaries and that's good. When children are involved, it's rarely a good idea to encourage an "uncle camera man" type relationship, for a variety of reasons. Those include that you don't really know who that person is, that that person is there to do a serious job and not babysit your kid, and that that person is working a job not part of your family and could very well be replaced with someone else just like that and where does that leave your child emotionally if they have become their "uncle"?

I had no problem with the hundred odd episodes they made before they had kids. Produce away. I only take issue once they involved the kids.

I think they're going to be one of those couples who does everything they can to make reality T.V. a good experience for their children. I still don't think it is enough to protect their children from all the negatives of being on reality T.V. The only sure way is to remove them from the situation. The best intentions does not mean you are guaranteed to avoid the harm. Why risk it? They seem to be saying they are desperate to make as much money as they can now so they can be comfortable in retirement. I don't find that excuse good enough reason to exploit your children, especially when they both have successful careers outside of reality T.V. If they must hustle and work, there are plenty of other things they could do that would bring in good money. They are both talented and capable of many things.

My heart breaks for Mady. She is a child who is crying out for a different kind of structure. Something other than an iron fist battle of the wills, who can hold out longer Kate or Mady. It shows just how little respect she has for her mother when in the span of 10 seconds she 1. interrupts her mother when her mother is speaking 2. interrupts to sass and be rude 3. stomps off 4. sasses some more/talks back 5. stomps back 6. whines 7. Does this all in front of the cameras knowing full well she is embarrassing her mother in front of millions.

All teens have their moments but this was more than a teen moment. This was a child who does not have any respect for their mother and desperately wants to find that respect, and will go to great lengths to show her she does not respect her, including embarrassing her on national T.V. I feel sorry for her.

Shows just how much physical abuse and authoritarian parenting really doesn't work.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

So their mom was away for a month, and then when they could finally spend time together during spring break, the G kids were filming?

In a very early episode, TFW was lamenting how little time she gets to spend with her kids one on one. And she said something like, she'd wonder at the end of the day, "Did I have any meaningful interaction with (boy tup) today?" That's when there was still a few drops of
maternal instinct running through her veins. But then she freely admitted that one week at home, and one week away was what worked best for her family. But when did that become, one month away, and one week with a crew invading my kids' lives? I feel
very sorry for those children, and especially those young boys.

I agree. I just don't know if very many will admit it. That Sandie chick might admit it.

10 and 13 is just not cute. It's rarely going to be cute. These are the hair going grey years, not the "awww" years. I think it's uncomfortable for most people to watch someone who has no control over their 13 year old, a piss poor parent, engage in a battle of wills with them. Why would it be any different watching Kate have this battle? It should make any normal person's skin crawl. They'll suck up to her and tell her how wonderful it was but deep down inside they'll know they really miss the Thomas the Train years.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, I don't mind the accent, but that accent would stick out like a sore thumb if she tried to get some kind of other TV job besides her own life on T.V. For the accent alone she's a huge liability.

One of these days, Kate will push Mady too far, and that kid will tell all that she knows. Mady has no respect for her mother at all. I thought she was to apologize in order to return to the camera..did I miss her saying "sorry?"

FYI said...

For me, the ad that precedes the clip features Jennifer Aniston. When you watch Jennifer and then see Kate, what a difference!! And Jennifer is 7 years older than Kate.

The clapboard that the kids are holding in the beginning says "Interview Day" and is date 3-13-14. That was definitely done on their spring break.

Maybe when Mady said "no, no FUN things", she actually meant that she didn't want to film this special, especially since the Today show disaster.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I just find it so ironic that she has spent 13 years trying to control that child, asserting her authority, putting it out there she is the mother and Mady is the child and Mady is to obey her. There is evidence she used physical force with the children to assert her authority, and we have seen the way she verbally speaks to them, that's all on tape. It was Mommy's way or the highway for years. And she prided herself on her parenting.

For all her desperation to control these kids, it hasn't worked. In fact it's completely backfired on her. Mady is about as disrespectful as it gets at that age. She isn't afraid to say anything or do anything, and right to Kate's face. Kate's lost control over her. This is not Mady's fault. This is the sign of a child who has been parented poorly.

The child is begging, pleading for a different parenting style. This is not working for her, and she's desperate for structure. Not Kate's idea of iron fist structure, but normal structure with a normal parent.

The worst part of it all is that all the other kids are watching and learning, and seeing how far you can push Kate and how easy it is. Good luck to TFW with this, this is a mess.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I thought she was to apologize in order to return to the camera..did I miss her saying "sorry?"

&&&

She said it quickly and sassily. Like she's not sorry at all. More behavior that is unacceptable. An apology needs to be said in sincerity, without the sass and attitude, and you need to explain what you did and why it was wrong. You could tell Kate just wanted to get through the motions of this particular battle of the wills and get back to giving her grand speech to the kids about whatever she was talking about as she hams for the cameras.

Really, this is bad.

JR said...

""It's all still happening, with or without cameras," she says. "I'm getting older, tireder, more worn out. The kids are getting older and smarter and giving me a run for my money, daily and hourly and moment by moment."

This will be all about poor, poor Kate. Look how rough she has it.

Nothing like putting down her own kids to make herself look like the sorry person she is.

The by product of this would be people who are trying to adopt for the right reasons (something other than reality TV) having their adoptions affected...
The Arnolds need to get the stars (money) out of their eyes, and get these children off TV. Jen and Bill can film to their hearts desire. Go for it, exposure your luxury life for all to see. Just leave the children out of it.

-----------------------

Are you saying the Bill and Jen adopted their children for a storyline for their show and don't have the same motivation as other adoptive parents?
That couldn't be farther from the truth. They desperately wanted children of their own. Jen went through a number of very painful procedures and tried to use a surrogate but they were unsuccessful. It was then that they turned to adoption. They didn't get any special treatment and went through the same inspections and scrutiny as any other potential adoptive parent. Most of the flack they're getting for continuing to have their kids on tv is justified but some of it is not based on accurate background information and slightly misguided. I don't think they live a "luxury life" at all. Jen works full time at the hospital. She travels giving speeches at medical conferences and trains others in her specialty. Bill is more hands on at home with the kids while still being a business owner (a pet shop and medical supplies). They're no slouches like the Gosselins, who did nothing at all except pimp their kids out to earn money.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

And the implication is it's her children's fault for giving her HOURLY challenges and not her own piss poor parenting that got them to this point where these dang kids are such an hourly, minute-by-minute challenge for poor shmoopy. I don't care how many kids you have you should not be struggling every single minute with them. Some problems are normal at this age, but she should strive for most of their time together being happy, peaceful, and without issues. This is just not right or normal.

KIAT.....Good catch....why did Mady say no fun things? Do you think she didn't want to film.

&&&

Just by the tone of her voice, I got the impression she was just being sassy. I.e. saying whatever was the opposite of what Kate was saying. Kate said we're going to do fun things, and Mady had to immediately pipe up and say NO fun things! It was the sort of thing an angry, upset, frustrated child would do to derail the train. Trolling behavior, if you like. Just doing it because she can, because she likes to watch her efforts to derail bear fruit. She embarrasses her mother (retribution for her) and she gets attention for it. Win win.

She was quick to come back to the group so obviously she did want to participate or at least see what the fun things were. I don't think it was REALLY about not caring about fun things.

This is what made it so concerning because she was basically just being disruptive, from what I can tell. It's completely unacceptable behavior, but of course should be blamed on her mother, who has allowed it and has no idea how to stop it. I want to be careful to say that I feel sorry for Mady and I don't blame her. I get a strong sense that the parenting is to blame here, and not Mady as a person. I'm sure she's a nice girl, she seems very bright and sharp. But she's caught in Kate's vortex and a kid that bright who knows her own mind at a very young age is going to feel VERY suppressed by someone like Kate, it was inevitable and is only going to get worse.

Right. I think she would do well to do some conjoint therapy or therapy to help her with this child.

Actually my narcissist had very challenging children to discipline, and I give them credit, they did go to therapy for some pointers. That was very good. The kids would gang up on their parents and they were VERY bright kids, like gifted and talented bright. Also they're the kind of kids where if you punish them they would say stuff like "that's fine with me, I won't miss my playstation, iPod, etc." Like those kind of kids. I've never seen anything like it, they were the most tenacious kids ever and at eight years old could level their mother to collapsing into sobs of frustration, when that sort of carrying on really wasn't her normally.

What actually worked for them is that when they did something wrong, they would have to stay home from whatever and write a letter to the person they offended or wronged. Not two sentences. A full page. For a ten year old that's huge.

You could see when they had to really sit down and write out, it sunk in better. You would actually see real sincerity when they turned the letter over to the person they offended. They would finally get it. Sometimes at least. Quite honestly there were many more struggles, some very serious, but you get the child you get and yelling and screaming gets you nowhere.

Anyway, Mady is smart like those kids and the standard punishments don't always work on a kid like that. Certainly this yelling and screaming battle of the wills is not working. What is concerning is that TFW seems to think she has a handle on this when she really isn't anywhere CLOSE.

It's not like she had to divide her attention between a job, and children, and household responsibilities, like the vast portion of American women. Mady's outburst may have been part of the "story line", (at least I hope it was), but Kate's sheer glee in being in control is positively demonic. The entire interaction was completely inappropriate, and frankly if it wasn't pre-planned, then Kate should have protected Mady by not allowing it to be aired and put in a situation that will be open to ridicule. But alas, it's all about Kate of course and I wouldn't be surprised if the gist of the special is poor "victim" Kate - taking care of 8 unruly children all by herself.

Clearly, the scene itself was scripted. If this is just regular ordinary life, then why do "fun things" require a family meeting complete with poster boards and the CWS easel? I don't know what is on the agenda, but none of the kids looked like they were having any fun at all, in fact most of them look terrified.
I bet this weekends filming was for the kids 10th birthday party. It certainly would explain the lack of fanfare on their actual birthday weekend. I also agree with admin that "premier" is just referring to the first airing of the special and not the beginning of a new series. In order for TLC to 'help' Kate in exploiting her children, they will need to rerun the special as often as possible. Gotta feed that narcissistic ego of hers ya know.

Of course Mady was disrespectful to her mother, in fact I bet all the children are disrespectful to Kate. Why should the children respect their mother, when their mother clearly doesn't respect her children, (or anyone else for that matter)?

I think M's "No fun things" comment was a slap at TLC for not lavishing a trip on them, and I think she was regurgitating what her mother had said to them when she announced the update show. What 13 year old would come out with that? This is straight from the horse's mouth.

I'm from a family of 10 kids. Who gives options for breakfast with that many? Breakfast was served and you ate. Period. I think that was done for the cameras too. Are you telling me that a woman who demands her kids eat lunch in a certain order cooks a custom breakfast? Fat chance.

Oh, poor Shmoopy, so tired and worn out, and all this without the burden of a real job, which makes her oh so relatable. And all those $$$ for the faux hair, faux face and gobs of makeup on said plastic face. So, so relatable.

And 2 hours of a special, take away even more commercial breaks and clips of babies, what do you really have - a lot of boring IMO. I am quite sure I have to wash my hair that night.

getofftwitter said...

Actually, Kate has made an ass of herself, and this special will confirm it. First, several of months ago, Kate did people with twins, and life was in lala land, she did CA, Kate state on twitter she was having a wonderful time, now to appear in a clip from the special, just re-confirms, Roberts book. It also makes Kate out to be a liar.

This is the angle Kate is hoping people will buy, so she can get back on TV . Much like the crap on Tori, and a lot of the reality TV people. Lots of DRAMA, that is why Kate was dressed that way at the bakery. Pulling the poor mom, harried, from dealing with 8 kids act. Since nothing else has worked. During the last 2 1/2 years, Kate was hardly seen in a run down condition, this is just a lie, to get people to watch. If TLC, does not give her another show, she is hoping that maybe Lifetime or other will. A show on a so-call: hard working single mom dealing with 8 kids, on her own, and the struggles, both with kids, money etc. Kate plus 8 the struggle or the single mom doing it herself.
Cause, we all know Kate is the only person in the world with 8 kids, count them 8.

And 2 hours of this kind of crap, Kate, bitching/whining/complaining/crying about how hard it is to raise 8 kids, doing it alone, and how she has no time for herself, even to dress to go out, and how tired she is(a person who does not work, home all day) and how ungrateful her kids are. Sounds, just like all of the rest of the reality shows.

To Kates fans: you really need an update? Look at Kates twitter, there are recent pics of the kids, and the twins were not that long ago on TV. If Kate would have waited say 3 more years, and not posted any pics of the kids, yeah, maybe it would be worth watching to see how the kids changed, but since Kate posted recent pics of the kids easter, birthday, and aussie shirt, why bother! COMPLETE WASTE OF HOURS.

Admin: if you do watch, to not give ratings, watch it when it comes on later, the second time.

I respect what you said, however, Bill&Jen are in a unique position; being parents through foreign adoption. Yes B&J were filming before the kids came along and tried to have children the old fashion way and also with fertility drugs. I don't begrudge them how they came to be a family. My point is, as parents via foreign adoption they have a responsibility to not put their children on camera. In doing so, they potentially are putting other foreign adoptive parents at risk. India's laws are a bit more liberal so I wouldn't expect any backlash from the India government. China, on the other hand, adoptions are a well-oiled machine. For example, if an adoptive parent is morbidly obese, they cannot adopt. All it would take would be for someone to alert the Chinese government to investigate that the Will is on TV, and China could shut down adoptions.

I rescind my comment about their luxury life. They have both worked hard to have nice things, and they did it w/o the kids.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Actually she asked who wanted eggs, AFTER she had already cracked about a dozen of them and started to cook them. How would you know how many to make when you don't even know how many want them. For the record only 2 1/5 kids said they wanted any. Plus if she truly makes them every morning (as she has claimed in the past), wouldn't she already know who would want them?

Kate was already cooking a very large pan full of scrambled eggs when she asked who wanted them scrambled. What would she have done if no one raised their hand when asked if that was the kind they wanted? As it was, only a couple did raise their hands.

I think Mady's behavior is in part due to bad parenting, and constant filming when young. But also, I think that poor child has inherited a whole bunch of "Kate" genes.

She'd know the ipod and phone will be taken away. She's still 13. Wait until 16 if nothing changes.

A premiere (or première, from the French première, meaning "first") is the first public performance of a work,[1] such as theatre work, film, dance, or musical composition. (Wikipedia)

The first episode of a series is called a pilot. I've seen TV movies advertised as "world premier events" which just means that it's the first time that they're airing the movie and it will be on again in case you miss it the first time.

She's only doing the egg thing for breakfast for the camera. Didn't she just make a comment about going to pick up chicken feed from a neighbor and either she or A commented that they needed a silo for cereal? My guess is that they get cereal more often than not, not that there's anything wrong with that other than lying about it. And what was up with her walking around with Zorro on her shoulder while in the kitchen?

First, that Rapunzel hair!!!

Cooking eggs in the kitchen with a bird on your shoulder...I thought she was Miss Super Sanitary! She slipped up with that one, LOL.

A chart of FUN spring break activities????? Stranger than strange.

Mady's outburst...she still is very impulsive and emotional. She just spoke the truth in that these were NOT fun things on that chart. She always ends up saying "sorry" to Kate (like on Today Show) because she fears the consequences.

This show will be all about the kids being brats and poor single mom having to deal with them. So what? What parent hasn't been through this stuff? The issue here is that Kate is nuts and the kids are AFRAID of her. Just in that short clip, she appears demented. Maybe this show will work in Jon's favor.

If Kate believes the airing of this update will bring in offers for a TV show, she is definitely not living in the real world. This will end her hope if EVER making a comeback. Except for her handful of loyal followers, I cannot imagine anyone enjoying the program of a mother screeching at her children all the time. It would be one thing if she disciplined but also was affectionate with her kids, but she's just not. She's just plain MEAN.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The other thing about bill and Jen is they are not the first people who need or want to retire early. Yet many people have done it without putting their children to work. For starters if they want to retire early they need to downsize now. They live in a huge and completely unnecessary house. You can't live like that then complain you have to work the kids so you can retire. You could cut so many expenses before restoring to child exploitation. No one said saving for early retirement is easy or fun. That's what everyone deals with. They are not special.

TLC stinks said...

Ha, ha. She asked who wanted eggs and talk about hesitation from the kids. Aaden looked to see who raised their hands and another one timidly raised the hand. What a set up. How often would your kids all gather around the stove like that?

I don't think Mady's outburst was planned. I really believe she is highly impulsive and blurted out, which pissed Kate off. The kids were supposed to be excited about the activities their controlling mother planned. Nobody, and I mean nobody, would chart out activities like that on a board. It was probably for the cameras to prove how organized Kate is, but that's not organization. It's CONTROL.

T said...

Ut oh! There must be something wrong with my eyes. When the kids are spending one of their spring break days having a super fun "Interview Day"' the slate says "Take #3". But that can't be right, because Kate insists that her "realest reality show" never does retakes. Plus, I can't see Kate's face move at all, and all her frown lines have disappeared when she insists that she only had a tummy tuck. So yup, my eyes must be going for sure.

I think it's a good idea to take away things and privileges as punishment.
It teaches them that having a phone or a tablet or lap top or game device is a want and not a need, and something that parents are not obligated to provide.

I think she's so, so over this that it's hard for her to toe the line.
Why the hell would a 13 year old girl want to sit down and plan her Spring break with her 10-year old siblings?
She's going to get dragged into activities she doesn't want to do and I think "fun stuff" doesn't interest her anymore.
And it shouldn't!
Frankly, Kate's way over-the-top mimicking of Mady, "stomping' back to the sofa was spiteful and provocative and not called for.
Mady said "sorry" and returned right away, and Kate has to not only call attention to the manner in which Mady did it, but imitate her like a little girl on a playground?
