TLC filming for update special

After a long period of no new news about the promised "update special" from TLC, a few locals have spotted Kate and the crew filming around PA this week. Reactions from locals have been universally negative.

Filming locations include Michaels and a casual cafe. Thank you to the locals for keeping a keen eye out.

Of course Milo also takes her cell phones away from her teens, because that is what has gotten random unassociated professional bloggers at the Stir and other places all strung out, taking a cell phone away from the teens. #Snark.

I've yet to see a single comment anywhere here or otherwise that said taking a phone away from a teen is an inappropriate punishment. But then I would be shocked if Milo didn't miss the point.

Asking for respect and a good attitude needs to be done with respect and a good attitude. Get it, Captain Milo? Welcome back
================

Exactly!! If you want respect, you also have to give it. I think one of the most important things of child rearing is to realize that your children also have their own thoughts a feelings. It works both ways.

When you listen to them with respect and let them know that their feelings matter, it creates a more harmonious environment. If they disrespect you, you only cause more problems by disrespecting them. That is exactly what Kate did in that video.

Kids need to be disciplined. No one disagrees with that.
The problem is doing in on national tv for entertainment and MONEY.

Look, that scene was fake and some of the kids just aren't on board anymore.
All Kate needed to do was tell Mady to pipe down while she was speaking and tell her to apologize.
Instead she carpet bombs Dresden.

Exactly, and that's where the respect comes in. It's disrespectful not only in how she handled it but in allowing it to be filmed and not saying honey we'll talk about it later (after the cameras are gone, in private.)

I have yet to see a sheeple explain why this is not public humiliation of a child in front of millions of viewers.

Ugh.... never advisable to read a Milo tweet right after dinner. I feel queasy.

Yeah no Milo. Of the folks I know who went the authoritarian route of parenting, virtually NONE of them had smooth sailing in the teen years. What they did have was constant fights, kids running away, kids in trouble with police, promiscuous kids, kids selling/doing drugs, kids who did terrible in school and kids who constantly lied to them. By "laying down the law" and running her home as a dictatorship, she is not *teaching* them anything. She's telling them that they have to do/think/feel how she wants them to at any given moment, or else. It's not going to end well, and I don't say this with relish. I say it with a heavy heart.

I'm going to put a bug in Admin's ear to compare and contrast Kate's update to the McCaughey's "sweet 16".
The McCaughey's were all so "normal".
The parents were calm and seemed genuinely happy being mediocre in every way, except having given birth to 7 children at one time.
All of the kids seemed happy, outgoing, engaged, involved, and CALM.
The entire household seemed full of life and love. It was filled with the normal buzz of a family living in it ORGANICALLY.

I can't imagine the McCaughey's all line up on a couch screaming "We're 16!!!!!!"

Yet another well said comment, there are too many to name these days.

It's so ironic that she is demanding a better attitude while giving the child a bad attitude. It is so ironic that she is demanding respect while disrespecting all of the children by exploiting them.

It's far more important that adults model good behavior for their children than all the correcting they do about their behavior. The sheeple deliberately refuse to see this. Oh, but the kids will.

Their body language from all the children is extremely negative. Heads down, solemn faces, slouched shoulders, some of them hugging their legs. It's really telling.

ESPN is showing the spelling bee by the way. Most of these kids are over the top nerds, but they seem so empowered to be able to do this.

Yes. Nice family. The children were so gentle and sweet. I especially liked Nathan. And to think that some of them talked about how they didn't like the once in a blue moon cameras and attention. They don't even know what exploitation is thanks to their wonderful parents. Unfortunately the Dionnes sent their letter to the wrong family. It should have been routed to the Gosselins not the McCauleys.

&&&

Ugh. I know.

It's not even anecdotal. It is well documented by psychologists that authoritarian parenting doesn't work. Yet she persists in modeling it. Here are but some of the hundreds of studies Captian Milo, and they are virtually universal worldwide of how bad being "strict" is:

The United States. Widely-cited studies of American adolescents have reported that teens with authoritarian parents were the least likely to feel socially accepted by their peers. They were also rated as less self-reliant (Lamborn et al 1991; Steinberg et al 1992; Steinberg et al 1994).

• China. One study of 2nd graders in Beijing found that kids from authoritarian families were rated as less socially competent by their teachers. They were also more aggressive and less likely to be accepted by their peers (Chen et al 1997). Other Chinese research has linked the punitive aspects of authoritarianism with poorer social functioning (Zhou et al 2004).

• Cyprus. When researchers questioned 231 young adolescents about their cultural values and experiences with peers, they found that kids from authoritarian homes were more likely to have experienced bullying -- both as victims and perpetrators (Georgiou et al 2013).

• Turkey. In a study of Turkish high school students, kids from authoritarian families were rated as less resourceful than kids from authoritarian or permissive parents (Turkel and Tzer 2008).

• South America and Spain. Researchers in Latin cultures report that authoritarian parents are more likely to have kids with low social competence (Martinez et al 2007; Garcia and Gracia 2009).

• The Netherlands. In Dutch studies, kids with authoritarian parents were rated as less helpful and less popular by their teachers and classmates. They were also rated as less mature in their reasoning about moral issues (Dekovic and Jannsens 1992; Jannsens and Dekovic 1997).

I think a big difference between updating the McCaugheys and the Gosselin kids is that the McCaughey special focused on catching up with the kids "in situ", whereas the Gosselin update feels like another "episode" that's a planned story arc.
In other words, the McCaughey update seemed like a real day in the lives, while Kate's is well, all about Kate with children props.

Tucker's mom you hit the nail on the head again. This TLC special is all about Kate being Kate. She doesn't even try to change. Still is her old arrogant self. All that babble about cell phones and tablets being taken away is just trash talk. I predict a world of trouble at the farm house as all those kids get older. They will surely understand that their very birth is the reason their mother is rich. No one would even know their names if their parents had not done this to the family. I cannot stand to hear Kate's voice. Nothing has changed since 2011. She still thinks she is "all that and a bag of chips."

I don't think TFW is all that bright, but I do think she is smart enough to realize that what is left of the draw is due to her vile personality. People love to hate her. She has no incentive to change, because deep down she knows damn well if she suddenly becomes a good mother, woman, person, she might lose the draw/hook of her celebrity. And that's a pretty sick way to live life, never changing because you might lose publicity.

I'm going to disagree with you Admin. I agree that TCFW isn't very bright, but I think that she is cunning rather than smart.

I also disagree that she has even a passing thought that her personality is vile. She doesn't have enough self-awareness to come to that conclusion. I think that she is convinced that SHE is the star, SHE is the only one that is 'working', that she IS admired by millions for the way she controls Jon's children.

Watch that clip again when she so gleefully shares her advice (while patting herself on the back) about how to take away the children's ''currency''. I don't see even a glimmer of realization that she is NOT being ''a a good mother, woman, person.''

But, what about the articles that said she realized how difficult she was and didn't appreciate what she had and wanted another shot at the brass ring? What about her campaign on Twitter to show herself as the happy happy determined positive mother of eight?

localyocul said...

You know, the way she acted so thrilled to tell people that she got the girls iphones and iods so she could take them away made me think about something. I think she really does enjoy punishing her kids or taking things away. Remember gumgate? I was appalled that she could so cruelly tell a toddler that their favorite toy was being thrown away...but now I think she enjoyed saying that. AND that clip of her denying Mady water where she then asked for some and drank it herself? I used to think she was just cold and clueless but now I think she was deliberately taunting Mady. Absolutely.

I agree, but I don't think that the sheeple deliberately refuse to believe it. They're not that smart. They won't believe it because it isn't within their scope of intelligence to be able to do any kind of thinking, logical, critical, especially when it comes to parenting.

Don't forget -- this is a cult. Kate is their leader. Whatever she does, whether it's discipline or selling out her kids, it is acceptable to them. It's not only frightening, but pathetic because many of them are adults. I can understand the young ones being gullible enough to see her as their leader, a hero that does no wrong. What is baffling is that the adults in the flock are also blind followers, intellectually unable and unwilling to think for themselves.

If you read the timelines of a few of the slowest, older sheeple you can see that they just were absent when logical/critical thinking ability was passed out. I think that this is what makes them so susceptible to being brain-washed. They have fallen under her spell, gotten caught up in her web, and they'll stay there until their dying day. Little chance that they will ever see the light. Look at Milo.

Yes. I don't think she has any idea who she really is. Which is why she will emulate whatever she is fixated on at the moment, right now it's trying to look, act, be like Kendra. This is what 15 year olds do, not 39 year old mothers of eight.

FYI said...

The one thing I find a little bit strange about the taking away of Mady's cell phone in that video--Didn't Kate originally say that she got the twins cell phones so that they could keep in contact with each other? Isn't that why most parents get cell phones for their kids?

Now it seems like the twins use their cell phones for more than just communication. Why would Kate take Mady's cell phone away, if she wasn't using it for more than just staying in contact with her mother?

Kate has said that she controls what they use their phones for and has the passwords to their accounts. So how is it "punishment" taking away a phone, when she professes to know everything they do on their phones?

How I wish TLC would show that clip of TFW talking about her daughter adjusting her attitude, following by a string of clips of TFW being the biotch we all know her to be. I bet most of us could rattle off 4 or 5 off the top of our heads.

One classic for me was the plane trip to Utah, when the plane was being rerouted or something. TFW had a full-scale meltdown one
might expect from a toddler, while Jon and Beth tried to keep the
8 - count 'em, 8 - children calm. She sobbed and said something
dramatic like, "There's no room for all of us!" Was she about to have
a baby in a manger, or was she going to an all-expense paid ski trip in a luxury cabin, for which she was also going to be paid her regular
per-episode fee? Then she faked a headache so she didn't have to
see those pesky moneymakers learn to ski, but had a dramatic
recovery in time to have a spa day with Beth. Did anyone tell her
to adjust her attitude, or mimic her histrionics on the plane? Bet
she wouldn't have cared for it much.

That's my account of the Utah plane flight, too.
I get that it's frustrating to have layovers, but Kate had Steve, Beth (maybe more helpers), Jon and the crew.
She was far from alone and far from having to figure ANYTHING out on her own.
She was just along for the ride, plus, the kids seemed just fine.
She was the lone grown up who was LOSING it.

Look, everyone has their crying point, but go to the bathroom, away from the little children,who don't need to see you melting down.
Close the door, have your cry, dry your eyes, and come out ready to handle the situation like a parent.

It is a Sunday night at 7:30 and I would assume her 8 kids are home from Jon's. Yet she is on Twitter AGAIN laughing about her kids puking on film. But she thinks it was all great because after all they made memories. Wow! She is sick.

Sherry Baby has left a new comment on your post "Moochers U.S.A.":

's quite another to still be laughing about it years later with absolutely no insight into why exposing their most vulnerable moments like that was wrong.

______________________

Absolutely. How could she have not grown as a person in character, having a sense for what is right and wrong? With so many critical comments about that episode, what kind of a person still sees it as funny and does not have the ability to do any kind of soul-searching or introspection and at least examine that situation and think that perhaps that wasn't in the best interest of the children?

It's bad enough to film this for the public, but to consider it a memory just goes against anything any good parent has within themselves.

&&&

This is just what she does, tries on different hats seeing what sticks.

This particular hat is amusing, since at this age these children are more independent and self sufficient than they have ever been. As many others have pointed out they're perfectly capable of making their own breakfast now, even a hot breakfast, within reason. She could sleep in or get some other chores done while they make and eat breakfast.

But she has to make it so she can put on the poor frazzled me act.

Mel said...

She obviously did *nothing* to prepare the children for this special (like a good mom would) because if she had, there would not have been an outburst from any of them on camera.

She and Mady would have hashed this out and come to some sort of agreement prior to any crew daddies arriving. They could have discussed Mady's feelings during those nightly bonding times they have and gotten this worked out so that Mady wasn't so upset.

Mel said...

I wonder if Mady was so upset because she remembered 'filming' in a vague way from her younger years as associated with the 'posh vacations', instead of the stupid things they film at home (like the Kate Couric special), and was vastly disappointed.

Plus it has to be humiliating to be lined up like that with the little kids and dictated to like you're 3.

Instead of being allowed to have a voice in the decisions. Even the sextuplets are old enough to be allowed to have a voice.

Vanessa said...

In eery clip the kids either look extremely hesitant, confused, or like walking on eggshells. They are quiet and withdrawn, with only Mady daring to defy the Captain.

I assume this is either because they are petrified to step out of line and endure Kate's wrath, or as you said, none of these things they are doing are part of their regularly scheduled programming, so they're taken aback by it all. Could be a combination of both.

Another factor to think about. If this was a breakfast scene that
legitimately took place in the morning, then the crew had already
been at the house for hours. Lights, cameras, sound, plus a director.
The kids may've already had their "real" breakfast 2 hours before this

wanted to answer, "We'd like them all over your head, heifer. Now

Your post reminded me of one thing in the clip that made my stomach turn and that was Kate walking around the kitchen with that bird on her shoulder. That really made me want to wretch. I mean birds are not like other pets (like a cat or dog) because they are at least house trained. Birds are not very discriminating about where or when they want to do their business. And since food is prepped in a kitchen and Kate is waltzing around the kitchen with that bird on her shoulder just turned me sick to my stomach.

Her star will fade eventually, it's just taking a lot longer than we thought. The time will come when she won't want the public to know what her kids are doing because it will be the result of her horrible parenting skills and her decision to exploit them for all their worth. It will come back on her, don't worry.

Oh, Auntie. I hope you are right about her star fading out. I can't help but think she will forever be that annoying gnat buzzing around your face that you keep swatting at, but can never quite finish off.

I'm also not so sure there will EVER come a time when TFW doesn't want the public to know what her kids are doing, even if it is terrible behavior or actions that are a direct result of her horrible parenting and exploitation. I think she will suck up any attention she might get as a result of the children acting out because, in her mind, it won't be her fault.

She will never take responsibility for any of their problems. She will blame it on anyone (Jon) and anything else she can possibly think of. And she will play the poor, pitiful victim role - sniffling into her hanky about how hard she had it, and how she did her best, and how she had no one to help her - all the while jabbing at her eyes trying to coax a tiny drop of liquid from a tear duct.

Oh, I think she will love the attention if any of the kids gets in trouble. She won't be able to help herself. She is addicted to the attention.

Exactly! There is nothing particularly entertaining about these ages, and so the contrived drama is necessary. One hour of catch in special would be more than enough. A circus party for 10 year olds who hardly have friends? Puhleeze.

I had 3, count'em 3 kids, with a 5 year age spam, and at these ages, I felt like I was running Mom's taxi service, but then my kids actually did things: soccer, swim practice,day camp and many, many runs to and from friends' homes. Kate is exhaustedish from her bus stop trips twice a day and we all know she does not always do them herself. Her idea of a fun summer is not taking anyone anywhere.

So meh to all of this - the TV 'special', contrived drama, the pool summer. What remains is that she is still a mean, unhappy and totally plastics person. So sad for her 8 children.

Just saw an article in the New York Post online: "Bethenny Frankel
Flees Event After Hardly Any Fans Show Up." She was there to sign
a kids' book she wrote. Maybe poor Bethenny needs her own Purse
Boy to keep these events running smoothly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, if Bethenny wanted to prevent a catastrophe about the kid book signing, why didn't she invite children to come with a parent and talk to them and sign a book and GIVE it to them. Serve snacks, give them a book bag with prizes. Swag bag. They would have never forgot it. The regular people that showed up could get their book signed and she could of helped some children. She sold Skinny Girl Alcohol to a corporation for 100 million dollars. She could afford it. She never has to work again.
Another factor to think about. If this was a breakfast scene that
legitimately took place in the morning, then the crew had already
been at the house for hours. Lights, cameras, sound, plus a director.
The kids may've already had their "real" breakfast 2 hours before this
nonsense took place.
Yes, what a blessing! Can you imagine how heartbroken Jon, Jodi, Kevin other relatives, Beth, other people who care about the kids will feel when they see this special? If we are in knots about it, they have to be much worse. I wish Jodi, Kevin and Jon could of come out from behind the camera at that moment when they were showing the kids cowering under kate's behavior in the kitchen and just walked up and gave them a hug. That's a tearjerker of epic proportions.
Pretty sad for the kids that this is how their mother chooses to be presented in the media. All her fame whoredom is out there for her children to see, and it will never change. As much as we have predicting her fade away for years, and as much as she tenaciously clings to whatever shreds come her way, in just a few more short years, the children will be older and even less interesting, and TFW, well she will be rocking those blonde ringlets at 42. It's all rather pathetic.
That really made me want to wretch. I mean birds are not like other pets (like a cat or dog) because they are at least house trained. Birds are not very discriminating about where or when they want to do their business. And since food is prepped in a kitchen and Kate is waltzing around the kitchen with that bird on her shoulder just turned me sick to my stomach.
------------
She claims the bird is potty-trained and only goes in the cage. I tend to believe her that the bird doesn't poop elsewhere. She's throw a fit it she had to wash bird poop out of her clothing or clean the kitchen counters. However, it's not an easy process to cage-train a bird and I don't for one second believe that she had the patience (or knowledge) to do it. It may have been done where she purchased the bird, or if it was a pre-owned bird, someone else did the training.
One classic for me was the plane trip to Utah, when the plane was being rerouted or something. TFW had a full-scale meltdown one
might expect from a toddler, while Jon and Beth tried to keep the
8 - count 'em, 8 - children calm. She sobbed and said something
dramatic like, "There's no room for all of us!"
I never did understand that comment. They've stayed at other hotels on their many trips and there was always room for "all of them." Why wouldn't there be room at an airport hotel if they had the spend the night? They stayed overnight in a motel on the way to Florida and it seemed to work out fine. Nobody had to sleep outside on lawn chairs by the motel pool.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
They are required to have a set teacher if they work three or more consecutive days. And her name is to be reported to the department of labor. I'm sure she or he would be the one to turn them in should they violate any new laws. If they didn't film more than three days they can get around this. I highly doubt though a two hour special could be filmed in three days. That's an aggressive schedule.
Winsomeone said...
If the law is really protecting children who film, shouldn't it be posted somewhere so the public can see whether or not she is following the rules? If no one knows exactly when and how long she films them, and if no one can tell whether or not permits were gotten, what protection is there? Sounds good, but in the end, does it really do what it's supposed to do?
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
Winsome, does any law do what it's supposed to do? It depends on whether the DOL is making a serious effort to enforce them. I have no idea if they are or aren't. This particular reasoning, used by Kate and her sheeple, is so ridiculous. She absolutely could support her 8 kids on a nurse's salary. However, she would have to take them out of private school; she'd have to downsize from the McMansion to a modest home; and she'd have to downsize the number of vehicles she owns, among other things. But many families do manage on incomes that are less than she could earn as a nurse.
it also runs into a pet peeve of mine; which is --- don't have more children than you can afford! She and Jon knew their financial situation when they had just the twins. Be happy with your lovely little family and your ability to raise them on your combined incomes. But we all know that Kate was fixated on having a pregnancy resulting in a high number of multiples, which she could then turn to financial profit. The fact that she was so short-sighted as to not realize that fame and fortune would be fleeting, is her fault. She had more children than she and her then husband could afford on their own. The answer is not making your children earn their keep.
The ignorance of her fans still boggles my mind to this day.
Wisdom for Modern Life by Daisaku Ikeda
ALL CHILDREN are gems, full of precious potential.
There is hope in every child since life itself is full of
hope. Should the hopes of children be stifled or broken,
that would be our responsibility as adults. It pains my
heart to see what goes on in today's society. I do not
want to see the eyes of children darkened with fear and
clouded with tears of sorrow. Society must be absolutely
transformed. Children are mirrors that reflect adult
society. When adults are ailing and their vision clouded,
children will also suffer. Let us wipe away the tears of
sorrow from the face of each child! We must protect
children and give them courage, strength and vitality. It
is parents who nurture children, the hope of humanity.
How noble parents are! What a great mission and
responsibility they fulfill.
I'm also not so sure there will EVER come a time when TFW doesn't want the public to know what her kids are doing, even if it is terrible behavior or actions that are a direct result of her horrible parenting and exploitation. I think she will suck up any attention she might get as a result of the children acting out because, in her mind, it won't be her fault.
She will never take responsibility for any of their problems. She will blame it on anyone (Jon) and anything else she can possibly think of.
====
Yes for sure she would say it's all Jon's fault but I don't think she'll get away with that excuse anymore. Just going by this recent short clip and reading all the nasty comments about her everywhere it's been posted on the internet, it's pretty clear most people think she's nuts and should go away, except for a few of her half-baked followers. Imagine the bad press she's going to get when the full two hours are out there.
If her kids get into any kind of trouble when they're older and whether she takes responsibility or not, people will know the reason why. If she loves even that kind of attention, there's no hope for her.
What I want to point out is....after TFW started to berate Mady,we then saw 2 other kids reactions. The girl tup sitting on the couch pulled herself into a tight ball (almost like a protective shield) The look on her face was like OH shit, here it comes.
I'm not trying to make assumptions but its easy to see when the kids go into protective mode. I wonder what the other kids did when this took place.
TFW is a POS and I really can't wait for the kids to write their books...whether it's for redemption, revenge, or money.
She's THIRTEEN. Since when do children that age get to make such important life decisions??? She is not old enough to even begin to understand the consequences of what consenting to filming means, which is why she is called a CHILD. A thirteen year old can only think cool, cameras and I'll be famous and get free swag! Or on the flip side, bad cameras I'll be embarrassed when my friends see it. Plopped down on a mannequin head was a blonde wig with those long curls . The face looked eerily similar to Kate's I just started laughing. Yes she's been saying this for awhile and I'm sure there are things that were fun about filming they enjoyed like going to see the Irwins. That's fine. It's okay to enjoy that. But just like kids would prefer to eat cookies and icecream every night for dinner kids aren't capable of understanding that filming could be bad for them long term. This was a decision that the adults needed to make independent of whether the children wanted to do it. That shouldn't have even been a factor just like a kid who wants icecream for dinner isn't a factor.
From 'Eonline': In case you missed the news earlier this week, Kate Gosselin and her eight kids are making their triumphant return to TV screens and will be featured in a one-hour special in June.
The reality star gushed to Us Weekly that twins Cara and Mady and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel are "very excited" to be back in front of the cameras.
"They cheered like crazy," the 38-year-old revealed to the magazine." It was like I announced that it's Christmas tomorrow. Our crew walked in and it was like they had never left."
Does Kate really think anyone believes this? Especially after seeing the non-enthusiastic faces of the kids in every scene of the preview clip? Pretty funny that the link to this "story" is in an Eonline story with the headline "Kate is still the worst"...Now THAT is truthful journalism.
How can you let a child-under 18) decide on what they want to do or what they think is a good idea?
They can't drive or vote or go to war or drink shoot they can't really be home alone. But KK let them decide to put camera in their faces-(which is a major decision) And as a mother she thinks that's okay???
I guess her need for the limelight and her ego boosting over rules her thinking as a paren.
But to take it back to a more absurd level, TFW claimed they used to vote when the tups were only toddlers!
====
I can just see how that vote went down...
Sgt Asshole: "Do you want Mr. Filming man and Mrs. Production lady and Mr. Chocolate Man and handsome Mr. Steve daddy to come take pictures of all of us so we can go on fun fun fun trips to places we've never been to and stay in big nice hotels and eat lots of yummy food? If you say no then mommy will be sad and angry and you won't be able to live in this house anymore. You will have to go live in the forest where there are big wolves that will eat you all up."
Of course those kids were going to say yes to mommie dearest. That's how she rolls. Witch.
The salesperson came over to me and asked me if I needed help. She saw what I was checking out and commented that the 80s style long blond curly hair wig is usually purchased around Halloween. They had it marked down from $79.99 to twelve dollars.
lol! Great story. Her hair DOES look like a $12 halloween wig. haha!
But she has to make it so she can put on the poor frazzled me act.
0----------------------------
I think that is part of it but I myself don't see it as a "poor frazzled act". The first thing I thought was "aught oh, her hate, disdain, regrets, resentment etc. for the children is finally showing and she is unable quench it anymore when people are around. I ALMOST wish the show would continue for a "short" time because it wouldn't take long for the public too see her abuse first hand. She wants everyone to think it's her being tired and frazzled and "she has learned that other mothers have learned that too" so she has now joined that elite position of being a teen mom. So no one has the right to point her out for her choice of discipline. Yes indeedie, it's real hard and by golly she will do what she has to do, because that's what teen moms do.
Little does she realizes, she has joined the wrong group of moms. They are the ones who beat, yell, shake and any other means of abuse due to the lack love, selfishness and being "just frazzled" . Wait until some start running away. I tend to think that that is when she will SHOVE the kids out the door and not let them return. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so. I actually think she might be at that place now but so far they have yet to really push it to that level. I think that because they were raised in the compound and Kate controlled any education of how people in the real world do things, they don't get that their lifestyle is so different and just not right. Once they truly get it, all "you know what" is going to hit the fan. That is when she is going to brake. Just like she did in the episode with Sarah Palin.
Here is a link to an interview Wil Wheaton did with Larry King on nhis Hulu show.
http://www.ora.tv/larrykingnow/wil-wheaton-0_1je9ygo978gd
It is very interesting. He talks early in interview about the three groups of kids he saw in acting - those who liked to pretend, those whose parents pushed them, and those who wanted to be famous. Around minute 13 he talks about at age ten being cynical, after seeing bad behavior being rewarded in actors getting roles and attention.
He says he left show business at age 18 because "I felt like I'd never had a childhood. I'd never been able to make decisions about my own life." He left California and left acting for several years, then returned when he realized he did miss acting. But that is not all he does, he writes and has a web series and now hosts the Wil Wheaton Project on SyFy.
Again I have to say...who didnt notice the tup pulling herself into a protective shield? The look on her face spoke a million words...
Make TFW happy or we will all pay! How dare you Mady! The other kids cringed while TFW made Mady pay for speaking her mind.
Something is completely wrong with this picture. 2 female twins- 1 who has been completely outspoken from day one; 3 female tups- 1 who is outspoken - A-who got expelled from school and 3 male tups- 1 who seemed to try to help in many ways- and was expelled as well. I doubt TFW ever addressed how this was truly affecting these 2, other than how it impacted on HER. All about Kate.
The male tups are completely silent, much like Jon was. Alexis, the free spirit - Hugging her head to knees- She knows she is not to speak. And then Mady- who is the lightening rod, and the most outspoken of all 8, who challenges Kate on her demands and reasoning and is constantly drawing Kate's ire for that trait.
Honestly, it seems the kids have given up questioning anything Kate says, under the penalty of severeness, with the exception of Mady. I actually do think she know exactly what is going on. Not saying she is a happy kid, but I think she knows what a control freak her mother is, and is learning how to navigate her, but still challenges her at the most critical moments, as she sees TFW for who she is. She is also smart enough to go along with TFW to get what she needs, but not afraid to challenge her. The phone was taken away before the "dispute" over fun things even emerged, so something definitely happened before this.
Anyway, in large families, there is usually a maverick when you are dealing with a tyrant parent. Granted Mady is dramatic, but this did not come out of thin air. She is the only child who has challenged Kate from day one, with TFW's insane demands. Although I know teen years are challenging, Mady has been one of the only kids to call her on her crap. A couple of others "disobeyed" and were punished (probably beyond what we ever saw for defying the queen), but I think these kids have just given up in general, with the exception of Mady. At one point, (RV trip) C and H were very cruel to Jamie's kids, and I honestly think they were acting out, as they have no way to navigate their frustrations and TFW's demands. Sad, but kids do learn verbal abuse from their parents, and start lashing out. I think these 2 took it out on the non-siblings, as they knew there would be no repercussions unless it involved their siblings. Kids learn bad behavior from what they see/experience.
Quite frankly, I think TFW is totally burnt out from parenting these kids with less help, no filming (her entire goal) and her words and demeanor clearly indicate this. She wanted the fame, but not the responsibilities. She started out her speech to the kids, "We are going to do fun things" in a very hostile angry manner as if defying anyone (kids) to challenge her, as usual. If the kids are so happy about filming, why is she so harsh with them from the get go. And why so many miserable faces. Much like CWS.
IMO - this is not going to end well. Not one single kid was smiling while she was barking orders, and not going to get better.
Not sure what is going with Jon and the three kids who don't visit him (allegedly) but something really needs to change. Of course kids can refuse visitation (I think) but I do not predict a good outcome in any way, shape or form. These kids are like robots and it is disturbing after considering TFW's lifestyle is being carried out on their backs.
Not sure how TFW would feel if her entire childhood and teens were filmed and shown to all the world without HER permission.
Sorry so long. JMO
Trending?? Sounds like the poor muffin is being bullied! Every.single.article. is saying the exact same thing, some more colorful than others. Looks good on ya! Will it finally FINALLY sink into her bleached brain that she cannot fool people anymore? Everyone is seeing the same thing. The die hards are her clones, so they'll only see what they want to see and then distort the truth. TLC put her up there, TLC is taking her down. They're just finishing off what they started with the Alaska & RV footage. They are hammering the final nail.
Don't tell me the twins aren't reading all of this. If she's trending, they are reading. Poor girls
Mady has always been the rebel, and she's not going to forget being "happied" up brutally, by being whacked with The Spanker.
Not to be an armchair psychologist, but she may have some impulse control issues and I hope that Kate is exploring that possibility, because the situation the children have been thrust into (acrimonious divorce and parental alienation, being filmed and loss of privacy) can not possibly help.
I think that if any of those kids parrot the party line, that they want to film again, it's because of the perks and a happier Mommy.
The younger ones simply can not comprehend the nuances of being public figures and being used for profit.
The reality star gushed to Us Weekly that twins Cara and Mady and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel are "very excited" to be back in front of the cameras.
"They cheered like crazy," the 38-year-old revealed to the magazine." It was like I announced that it's Christmas tomorrow. Our crew walked in and it was like they had never left."
******
That might not be too much of an exaggeration.
Those kids do virtually nothing but go to school and hang out together on the compound.
The tups have zero outside activities for enrichment and development.
So yeah, maybe this is a little excitement in their lives, and they know Kate is much happier when the cameras and perks are there.
Most sane and maternal moms would see this as very, very sad.
Most kids have friends, family and soccer and scouts and baseball and, and, and to feel excited about being rounded up and herded to and fro, performing for cameras.
Most kids would be truly bummed if their active and enriched lives were usurped with strangers wielding cameras and booms, and producers and assistants dictating what they did.
But, of course, according to Kate, ALL the kids, ALL 8 of them, squealed with delight.
She's just so full of shit.
Does anyone, save the 6 sheep, believe this load of dung anymore?
FlimsyFlamsy said...
Tucker's Mom (#138), your post just led me to a thought. We're all
crying bull about TFW saying the kids were super excited about filming.
But I wonder how TFW would answer this simple question. Why? Why are your children so excited? The old party line was, traveling makes them more well-rounded, they're having once-in-a-lifetime experiences, they're meeting new people.
But this special offers not one of those so-called benefits to the kids'
lives. There's no big trip this time - they're being filmed in their own
house. No once-in-a-lifetime element, unless their mother has never
made them eggs before. Heck, even the carnival party isn't unique -
the tups had one 7 years ago. And they're not meeting new people -
TFW claims their old crew came back.
If pressed, the answer might be, well, the kids were super excited and squealed like it was Christmas morning because, well, they missed "their crew" so darn much. To which I'd ask, why haven't you had
them over? Barbecue? Swimming? Pizza for lunch? Maybe a Skype visit? If the kids feel so close to the crew, they're sure to be
disappointed when the crew's attention is diverted by actually having
to work while they're at the house.
So the question is, why are two teenagers and six 10-year-olds so
excited to have their lives filmed again?
Flimsy Flamsy (140) -- are you trying to introduce logic into the Kate Gosselin brain?
Those would be GREAT questions.
If she pulls the "they missed the crd" card I would ask if that is really the same crew as there was three years ago. Really, because that would be a Hollywood miracle.
So if it's not the same people or all the same, they in general miss people who carry around boom mice and camera equipment and stomp through their living space? Huh.
IF the kids are turning cartwheels when the crew shows up it's because it means the beatings will stop for the duration of their stay.
That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it.
