I'm a quilter and I watch quilt programs on PBS Saturday mornings. I also do block-the- month club at local quilt shop. They provide the patter, fabric and instruction and it's a little cheaper than DIY. There is support from other quilters. I donated a hand-appliqued quilt to granddaughter's high school auction and raised $900! CA are you interested? I'm available.

lalalalala -- You might also want to check with churches in your area. Some ladies aide societies have quilters groups. Also senior citizens centers might have a quilter's group, although if you aren't old enough to qualify as a senior, I don't know if you could get help from them. Your local library might have information about groups in your area, too, and also fabric stores.

Ugh, I can just see it now. The other contestants will hate Kate, she will have nothing to offer or contribute, she will melt down and be hateful and the Donald will take great pleasure in firing her. Annnnnnndd the sheeple will say how wonderful and sweet she was, the editing was bad, the other people didn't give her a chance, etc. etc. etc. etc.

To the quilting newbie... Quiltingboard.com, among others. They tutorials, links to tutorials, forums for all kinds of things. No question is too stupid, which is nice. And you can search the forums for whatever your question is about, and get all kinds of answers.
PBC has a quilting show that I like. Quilting with Nancy. It's on a few mornings a week. Another show is a Fons and Porter one, showing how to use quilting tools. Don't know the channel. Accuquiltgo.com is another good site.
Quilting is a lot of fun! Hope you get off to a good start!

If TCFW set up a charity foundation, even in her name, will cost a ton of money to set up legally. The kids money. Surely, The Donald will not fall for that. Can you imagine her setting it up, and the money she has in it, she gives 1 tenth of 1 percent away. The scandal that would come of that! I sent IamSuz a tweet, the lady that kate made the horrible comment to about doing more for her kids in one day than she does hers in a week. I wrote as a mom, I apologize. She has no filter. I added kate's twitter on so she could see it too. I also sent The Donald a tweet and asked him if he could confirm or deny that kate would be on CA. It doesn't hurt to ask. I also put kate's tweet addy on that too.

Lukebandit - those who participate in CA have to play for a real, established charity. Please don't even suggest that TFW would try to set up a bogus charity where she would be the main beneficiary, this is how rumors get started. We may not like her but I doubt that she'd do something like that. Why even tweet anything to Donald Trump about her being on the show? The more non fans tweet to him about it the more popular she seems to be. She'll either be on or she won't be on.
IF Kate is picked , and I don't think Gossip Cop is reliable, the appearance will FINISH her. She cannot think on her feet unless CA is scripted . I've never watched because I cannot stand Donald Trump, so I don't know, but if she intends to do her usual exaggerated freaking out, she will come off as a big fool. She wants publicity; then fine. It won't be flattering and maybe someone will have the guts to really deep dive into Kate's lies and secrets. At least Jon is an open book and despite his behavior on CT, he does get sympathy.

The only way TFW can get a decent run on CA is if the women's team virtually runs the table as a result of benching her. Benching TFW would be virtually impossible, since somebody's going to notice her absence. In case the public doesn't mention it, Trump's going to bring that up in the boardroom meetings.
In the unlikely event TFW gets a CA gig, she could make history by being being the first contestant to quit CA as a result of getting fired by their team [they want her gone so badly, they couldn't wait for Trump to get the opportunity].
I would love to see Kate on CA. How is she going to manage without TLC or Steve holding her hand? The fund raising portion of the tasks could prove very embarrassing for her. I wonder if she held that “non-contest” asking for personal information so she would have someone to reach out too when she has to raise funds. I know….it’s a stretch but I wouldn’t put anything past her.
I am curious about the "fine print" of someone being able to represent a charity on a reality show. Do reality show participants have to get permission from the charity to so publicly associate themselves with that charity? I imagine the charity would want to vet the person representing them.
If this CA gig for Kate is real, it would be really amusing if Hershey Medical Center or St. Jude or the Red Cross were to tell her: Ah, thanks, but no thanks, Ms. Gosselin. She would then have to resort to representing a much smaller charity that is desperate for any tiny pittance she would earn for them.

Call Me Crazy - I don't know about the fine print, but from what I've seen all the celebs "play" for a charity that they've been associated with for a long time. For example, Penn Jillette plays for Opportunity Village and he plays for this same charity on every reality show (Guy vs Rachel cooking, CA and the upcoming Chopped). On CA they normally have a clip of the celb presenting the check to the charity that they're playing for. I've only seen a couple of celbs "quit" the show before getting fired. Nene Leaks was one and I can't remember the other.

Joan Rivers stormed out after her daughter Melissa was fired. She showed up for the next challenge and was allowed to come back.
Aubrey O'Day also walked out. She, too, returned.

I am also torn if I want TFW back on TV. On the one hand, the kids would spend more time with Jon and I feel the more she is on TV, the more people will realize exactly how she is. On the other hand, I would prefer if she were blackballed after the Today Show stunt with the twins. I guess if she keeps the kids out of it, let her sink her own ship with millions of people watching.
I've talked in the past how my DIL is so similar to TFW in her behavior. I struggle between not doing much with them, and trying to be present for the kids.
This is so typical of how interactions with them go: Yesterday I went to a ski meet with my son, the DIL, and 10 yo, 8 yo grandchildren. Mid-day, in the warming house, DIL is making sandwiches for their lunch. Asks the 10yo how many slices of meat she wants on the sandwich. 10yo says 3.
DIL starts screaming that the 10yo must have 4 slices, attracting the attention of the other tables around us. 10yo politely says, "but you asked me how many I wanted, and I said I wanted 3." DIL shouts 'If you're going to be sassy, you can't have anything!!! You can just go hungry!!!!!!" And then she wouldn’t give the 10yo *any* of the food.
Of course the 10yo starts to cry, and looks at me beseechingly, silently begging me to make it stop. She's hungry AND embarrassed at the ruckus her mother is causing. Then dil says, "If you're going to cry about it, you can go to the car and skip the rest of the meet!" And then she looks smugly around, wanting people to notice what a strict mom she is and praise her for it. She’s so proud of being a strict mom. But she’s not strict, just mean.
I'm dying. There's nothing that I can do right now to make this better. *Anything* I say or do right then is going to make it worse for the little girl. But I'm sure the little girl is feeling that I'm not standing up for her, that I've abandoned her. I am in so much distress but I have to hide it because if the DIL thinks that I'm criticizing her she'll go even more nuts on the little girl. I wanted to just leave, but that would leave the little girl alone with the mom. I can’t think what to do.
In the meantime the 8yo comes over and DIL starts making his sandwich. She asks him how many slices of meat he wants. He says 2. She says, "Ok. Do you want a slice of cheese with that?" All goodness and light to the little boy. Now the little girl is even more upset.
Finally I thought to offer to take the little girl to the bathroom, and while she was in there I went to the concession stand and bought 2 hot dogs and an apple and stuffed them in my coat pockets. I keep extra food and drink boxes in my camera case, because this kind of thing happens to the 10yo all the time.
So I take my camera case and my coat with the hot dogs in it, and offer to walk the 10yo over to her next race slope to check it out. Thank goodness, the dil thought that was a good idea. On the way over there I dug the food out of my pockets and the camera case, praying that the little girl wouldn’t say anything later to her mom about it. Which she didn’t. Thank you, God.
It’s the best I could do, and it wasn’t enough. I’m still in tears.

Awwww Mel, that is so heartbreaking. I'm so sorry that your Granddaughter suffers (and you as a result) like that. I can only imagine the position you are in.
It may not feel like it to you but I'm sure your gestures, no matter how small they seem to you, are making a positive difference in her life.
Just keep doing what you are and when that little girl grows up and is ready to tackle the unhealthy relationship with her mother, she'll remember that you were on her side.

I don't think messing with his hair is even going to enter into it. They want viewers. Kate is so polarizing, and so hated, that if the network (and The Donald) think that people are going to watch to see her make a fool out of herself or get trampled in the process, they will hire her.
Mel, you are such a good grandmother. Your gd must be so happy when you're around to see she gets fed and supported- my goodness, that's abusive withholding food. Why is the 10 yo treated so much better? What a heart-breaking story and must be one that you see often. What does your son do, if I missed that?

Yup, I agree. Remember how horrendously busy she was not long ago with phone calls, paper work, e-mails, etc.? I think that was a foreshadowing of things to come.
Mel - That is just awful! What a terrible way for those children, and you, to have to live. I don't have a lot of experience with people of your DIL's ilk, but I do have some serious experience in dealing with bullies. I completely understand your concern that anything you say or do will result in further misery for your granddaughter, but I know I wouldn't be able to contain myself. I would feel compelled to speak up to her, but in a calm and measured way that would make me the target of her wrath (not that that would be very pleasant). An adult is far better equipped than a child to deal with the backlash from a lunatic. And an adult not backing down or being intimidated is a powerful defense against such behavior.
Often times, another adult standing up to these narcissistic bullies is enough to get them to back down. Chances are, nothing you do or say will make things worse for that little girl than the torment she is already being subjected to. But if you speak up, she will at least know that someone is willing to help her. I think that is incredibly important.
I think it is also important that your son take charge of matters like this. The more a bully is allowed to call the shots, the more they will continue to do so. Vanessa may be able to weigh in here with some advice.
I wish you and your family all the best. Just know that your granddaughter will always remember your kindness and compassion.
Kate is firmly ensconced in the D-list celeb circuit, so it's no wonder she's on CA. I think it was bound to happen at some point. This is her "career" now, so expect a lot more of this in the future. While the kids are the ONLY thing she's got going for her, and the ONLY reason she's even remotely special (well, just her uterus and a magnificent team of physicians and nurses at Hershey), I am glad this (hopefully) does not involve filming the kids.
Kate can do whatever she wants. BTW, I would bet money that Jon will make it on CA on Kate's heels. People will love to compare and contrast, so i think his odds are quite good.
I'm not a regular watcher of CA, although I did watch the season when Brett Michaels won. If I'm not mistaken, aren't there several times that the contestants let loose with the F-bomb and other curse words(although they get bleeped)?
The sheeple had fainting spells about the language used on Couples Therapy. Can you imagine if their queen happened to let one loose?
This is a description of CA from the NBC website. I bolded the parts that definitely do not apply to Kate:

I read one article about the rumored participants, and the writer gave his thoughts on each of them. This is what he said about Kate:

I had a private daycare some years back and watched one of my little charges go through the same thing. She had a step dad (jerk) and a narssisstic mother. Her younger sister by the step dad was the golden child. She would often arrive at my door having not had breakfast. Of course her mother blamed her for dilly dallying. She had to make her own breakfast and lunchbag for school. If her teenage brother took the last of the bread when he made his lunch, she was out of luck. It was border line neglect and I knew if I pushed the issue they would pull her from my daycare and she would be in a worse position.
Every morning after her mother dropped her and her sister off I would have a quick breakfast ready for her and quickly scour her lunchbag to see what was missing. Then I would fix her a proper lunchbag and throw in a llittle note or treat. Then as I was taking all of the elementary age children to school I would quietly talk to her and reassure her that this wasn't going to be forever and it was never her fault and if she had a bad night with her parents she knew I would be there to listen. I had her in my daycare for 5 years and although I think of her from time to time, I tell myself that I think I gave her some good coping skills and confidence in herself to push through.
Unfortunately these kids have to learn survival techniques early on. If they know someone is in their corner they'll keep that to themselves. Your grandaughter probably understands exactly what you're doing. I'm sorry that you're going through this.

Notice how Kate pulled out the "jealous" card. Kate was very testy around this time. It was about the same that she had her twitter fights with Em Tanner, the Philly photog guy and made her remark about "those horrible dance moms".
You're right Call Me Crazy, I'd forgotten about the All Star CA. There were more men than women on that so they mixed the teams. I do hope that TFW is going to be on and that it's not just a case of "well if so-and-so doesn't sign you're in". If she is signed for CA she won't be able to answer Milo because they can let people know they're on until the official cast is announced.
I for one am hoping Kate will be on CA. She will be like a fish out of water in that type of environment. It shouldn't take very long for her to hear those dreaded words that she has become accustomed to "You're Fired".
Martina Navratilova is also one of those rumored to be on CA. Let us not forget that Tony was also her partner on DWTS. I wonder how much Tony has told Martina about his time with Kate.
Remember that interview Tony and Martina did with Anderson Cooper? It was the one that caused her to write that stupid CC blog about both of them.
If TFW does do the show, and the "party line" has been that she was too busy with her crazy life, then what has changed? And if she has the time and resources to do this, what has kept her from getting a nursing job? Remember, she claims she'd have to hand her salary to a babysitter. What is different about this?
One more thing to add. I think it would be great TV if they had both Kate and Jon on CA and they were on opposing teams. Now that would be worth the price of admission.
Hi--just a few thoughts on TFW's possible CA appearance:
1. Although contestants donate to charity, they are paid an appearance fee for themselves. I have read different sources that put this fee a either $16,000 or $25,000 for 3 weeks. TFW is surely scheming to get more cash, or find a way to declare herself a charity.
2. Anyone else think her tweet about her "friend" Mark Burnett was put out to make Trump think she has friends in the business with big names and deep pockets? Somehow I doubt Mark B calls TFW a friend.
3. No way in hell is she going to do this show without Steve there to hold her hand. If Trump won't pay for him, then she'll pay him herself. She'll be the only one who shows up with a bodyguard, even though she'll be the most pathetic, washed-up has-been there.
4. I really, really hope Johnny Weir bitch-slaps her. Please, please, please....
5. She'll refuse to do any actual work, insisting that she "mastermind" everyone else while they do the actual work.
If she's made the cut for CA, it's because she's filling the "bitch" role. Since Omarosa, there's always been a BITCH. She has no business sense, no backers, no influence-she'll flop. I hope she gets bullied, embarrassed, made to be a bigger laughing stock than she already is. She DOES deserve to be treated EXACTLY like she's treated everyone in her life. Think TFW's contract will provide for her to stay longer than she should on CA? I always thought she was on DTWS a week or two longer than her performance warranted.
Tucker's Mom 42 - I totally agree with you. TFW has trouble getting along with anyone, let alone she is lazy, so this should be a hoot to watch. I am thinking she is going for Red Cross (the charity she embarrassed and refused to take her picture down for several days.) Don't think she can sign up her "kids" for charity, although she has gotten very good at that with her grifting.
There is a song(can not find) which says "The world owes me a living- Deedle O Deedle Dum." This song should be TFW's mantra.
Bottom line- the cast will eat her alive, so it might be a great opportunity to see her out of her element in a shark driven environment. We all know, she has trouble getting along with anyone.
Entertainment factor aside, the woman has no people skills, or quite frankly any skills to make her worthy of CA competition, and I use that word loosely. Fine, let's see her make a complete and utter fool of herself, as if there were even any room left in that bag, and watch her crash and burn out early. Best part is that she will be so completely full of the hair/makeup/limo factor, for even the very short time, that she will not even see how badly she looks. Cannot wait to see what charity is willing to align itself with her. And look for a new paid gig for Skeevio too.
Johnny Weir will totally bitch slap TFW. Kate is officially a villain and will play that role whenever she can. She knows people hate her and thanks her haters for keeping her relevant. If Kate has done even half the stuff in Robert's book, she's a really disturbed individual.
I think you hit the nail on the head. TFW is so far out of her element, has not charity contacts, and it is her way or the highway.
I don't predict a good outcome for her at all, but will give all an opportunity to view her "social ineptness" and hack her apart to get rid of her in the board room. DT may keep her on board for a few weeks for ratings, while her team members hack her apart, but ultimately, she will never make it to the finals.
The only word that TFW sees or hears is celebrity becasue in her mind that is what she is and what she will always be. As to having Steve there to hold her hand? I don't think so. Every celebrity has always had to do it on their own. She doesn't have the pull to start making demands like that. Nope, she'll be on her own.
Charities should be worried about Kate aligning with them. Her real haters and twitter brigade will make that charity sorry they even exist! Em Tanner was on that end of the stick, just for making stuff for the kids, and that was years ago- Kate's good will has done nothing but dwindle since then. NoNetz got hammered. Kate might not be fired that quickly if she somehow ends up on Celebrity Apprentice. Trump has been known to keep controversial clients for ratings. He just comes up with an excuse to fire anybody else. There have been some pretty inept celebrities on the show that lasted for far longer than they should have.
I'm feeling very angry with myself for being part of keeping Kate relevant enough to have even been considered. Ugh!

Everyone who has been in the public consciousness, no matter what the reason, and no matter how far removed, will forever have a certain amount of notoriety. No matter how obscure a "celebrity" is, there will always be some reality TV producers who will be anxious and willing to exploit them.
Kate will continue to pull obnoxious and cringe-worthy stunts, no matter what, so I am certain she will continue to get these types of gigs whether we talk about her or not. If TFW is on CA, .Jon should have rights to first refusal, if he is not available on certain dates, due to employment. But my guess is TFW set up a sitter/nanny in case Jon is not available.

Personally, I can't wait to see her on CA. This really will be the end of it for her. CA is ALL about celebrity connections & turning those connections into charity donations. Who is Kate going to call for donations? Who can cough up at least $5K for her? And if she only gets 1 donation for $5K, she won't last a week. Everyone on the show has to be project manager at some point, so she can't weasel her way thru with others always doing the work. They raise literally, hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities. Can Do Kate isn't a charity & Kate can't pocket the cash after signing a few pics. Kate simply doesn't have the celebrity connections & big money friends that it takes to last long on CA. Being a bitch & fighting with others still won't keep her on for more than a couple of shows if she can't produce the cash donations.
It'll be the best snark she's ever stepped into. And it's without the kids, so the snark can be cranked up. She can't shut down the TWOP CA thread. She can't kill reviews of the show. Well, I for one will read only an official announcement of CA, not all this rumor crap. Which I would not be surprised if Kate's camp had a hand in it. If CA is filming next month, then the kids will still be in school. She's going to leave for 3 weeks during the school year? Jon gets the right of first refusal, so if the the kids live with him for 3 straight weeks, then what are the chances that some of them won't want to go back home? It would be the perfect time for him to file for custody, if that's what he really wants. Or if she doesn't give the the option of keeping the kids, he has a great case to take to court. Leaving the kdis with a nanny for almost a month during the school year and denying their father the opportunity to take care of them is definitely not acting in the kids, best interests.
TFW is going to have to find someone too take care of the house, the dog, the chickens, and Zorro. Plus pay Steve to go to NYC with her for 3 weeks. All of her appearance fee will be gone. I'm sure she'll want a nanny to stay at the house with the kids to they can do all the work, but legally it's not her call, it's Jon's.
This CA thing could be the best thing for Jon, if he truly wants custody. If she denies him the kids--he can take her to court. If the kids stay with him and don't want to go back to Kate's--he can file for custody.
Oh boy, I am a little torn. One part of me hopes WOS makes it onto CA as a contestant. I do not believe the producers would allow her to bring Skeevers along to hold her hand and keep the other contestants at least five feet away from Her Highness at all times. I don't think she could handle having to sit with all the other contestants, try to answer questions shot at her by The Donald, and then be forced to interact with members of the general public during one of the challenges. She would have to be heavily medicated.
Then another part of me thinks she shouldn't even be considered and that this is just desperate posturing to keep herself somehow in the public eye.
Only time will tell if she's actually a cast member. If she is, I will watch because train wrecks like this don't come along often.

I think this might be a good springboard for her being on CA that does not directly involve the children. She will probably throw out the ‘8 kids’ card 1,000 times to generate pity & sympathy. From articles I have read, they usually work 16 hour days, 6 days a week. Plus the women have to get up earlier than the men, because they have to be in hair and makeup at 5:30 am.

1. The money is better than what many people make in a year. 2. She is drawn to cameras like a moth to light and flies to feces. 3. She believes with every ounce of her being that she is a stah. 4. She will do anything to not have to work a real job. 5. She is too narcissistic to be embarrassed if she fails. 6. She can play the victim and blame game when she does fail. 7. She will be away from her kids for weeks. 8. She has delusions of grandeur.

Andretti: They did 14 episodes. The whole deal is around 30 days, one show every two days. It was draining. We filmed nine hours a day, nonstop, no breaks. We were here in New York, but we may as well have been on a remote island; we had no contact with anybody. I couldn’t even talk to my race team. We would all sit there, look at each other and say, “How stupid are we? We’re not even getting paid. And we’re really putting in the effort.” We wouldn’t do this much in our regular jobs (laughs).
Does Kate really think she can handle this? She moans about losing an hour's sleep due to the time change.

The CA filming schedule is as brutal as the industry gets. The average TV episode works out to about 5 days. Basically one episode per work week, weekends off. On celebrity they do 14 in 30 days which is about two days. That's nuts and no one remotely unstable can hack it. I suspect they have such a feverish schedule because most celebs can only commit to a short filming schedule all at the same time. The Biggest Loser, in contrast, films over several months for the same number of episodes. There is no getting around it, you have to work. And the lazy and inept and mediocre can't fake it, which is why celebs we thought were nice and hard working are so frequently exposed as frauds on that show. And it's my guilty pleasure.
Dennis Rodman- now there's a game changer. That phenomenal asshole likes rubbing elbows with a murdering dictator. CA is just not a club I would ever want to be a member of. Too many truly awful human beings.
CA tends to bring out the true colors of the contestants. Some have been so touching, and some have turned out to be the laziest pieces of crap ever (Dionne Warwick). It can make or break an image.
If TFW is going to do this, she'd better brush up on her fake crying skills, for when she quits to go home to her 8 babies. Jon won't be there for her to blame when she fails, so she'd better have a Plan B ready in her holster.

I haven't watched CT in several seasons, DT became too much as d-bag in general, and the "celebrities" were below D-List, but have a few thoughts. As much as i hope this is just a rumor, my gut says she will be on. Risk / reward for her - exposure, talk show rounds when the show airs (CA will set it up for publicity to promote the show) time away from the kids, financial perks, hob-nobbing with DT and other "celebrities" - those are some of the rewards. Risks - she doesn't understand that there are any. Thinking about CWS - if someone watched with no past knowledge, she didn't come off bad. She appeared to be a control monster because she was managing 8 kids all by herself. Kids sharing the chores, who wouldn't lock a child's playhouse in the yard when it wasn't used for safety, etc. I predict she will be very out of her element and lost. This will be the first time there isn't a production team focused only on her - and we know Kate doesn't share. I predict she will just shut down. I didn't watch Theresa Guidice's season, but I read that Trump called her out in the board room for NOT being the table-flipping crazy she plays on RT. Out of their element, many do not do well. Kate has no business skills, no mangement skills, no people skills, no friends with money, no ability to work with others. I think her performance will be minimal. Risk / reward for DT: the show must be desperate for talent at this point. She brings ratings. And she is an easy person to vote off in the first week or so. When i watched Trump was truly uncomfortable telling stars that they were fired, she's an easy fire. For all we know about deals, she may have signed knowing she would be fired in 2 weeks (she has 8 kids you know) just to give herself exposure and him an easy out for a week.

Does anyone think after 2.5 years of unemployment, Kate realized she's a washed up turd sandwich? I can't see her go to all the effort to go on CA just to melt down, refuse to work and practically beg to get fired.
I can't see her going on CA at all.
But if she does, I wonder if she tries to turn over a new leaf and repair her blackened and tarnished image. Otherwise, she would be leaving her children and wasting many other people's time for nothing.
CA is one reality show I enjoy watching. I loved the Annie Duke vs Joan Rivers season. I'm disappointed Kate was selected because it is obvious she is being picked for ratings and that means Trump will keep her on a required number of shows for ratings. He will use excuses like, the poor women is a single mother of 8 for not firing her a few times as better contestant leave. Trump did this with Omorosa last time she was on, saying her finacee died as the excuse when she raised no money or left the task early.
Trump usually gets upset is contestants don't raise at least 15-20k on a money task. Does Kate have anyone, anyone at all she can call for 10k or even 5k? The few contestants that have had smaller groups(but at least some) of friends to call for donations are very hard workers. They know they can't raise the funds so they are back baking 750 pizzas for 12 hours straight or walking in the rain for 10 hours promoting the task. Kate doesn't have this ethic. Trump will let her skate by somehow, or she will luck out being on a good team for 5-7 episodes as the public yells at the tv saying why are you keeping her!
Remember, when Kate breaks down/has outbursts, it will only be because she'll be under soooo much stress, combined with missing her EIGHT kids. That's going to be the Sheeple Mantra.
I never watch AC, do they have to dress business-like, or is whore-wear acceptable? I'm sure it's one of the first questions Kate asked, too.
I enjoy CA too. As reality shows go it's excellent. Yes there's always the real doofuses or lazy people but the people who make it far are almost always very smart and talented. I like the idea of making celebs prove themselves without a team of helpers. You see who can really sink or swim and there are always some surprises. Dionne being one of the biggest shocks in terms of what a lazy pill she was. Clay Atkin a surprise for how incredible he was at everything. Marlee Matlin a surprise for how funny she was. Her being savvy was not a surprise but her boisterous personality, most of it done all in sign, was a real pleasure.
I don't think TFW should hit up the gullible people from churches that she swindled.....I think she should DONATE their money from HER bank account to the charities on CA. NOW THAT would be fair and just and maybe....just maybe...she won't have to go to Hell.
NBC did renew CA at the last minute so it could very well be Kate was finally seriously considered. They will get drama with her laziness and whining. I do not understand why a sane person would want to appear on national tv as such a bitch. I guess I just answered my thought; she is not sane.
Anyway, the child care arrangements should be interesting. If she denies Jon, he can take her court. I am wondering if she will actually be on CA considering Jon's custody suit. A parent embroiled in something like that would not want to give their ex any ammunition. And if Jon does not take care of the kids while she is filming, then he's not sincere at all.
What bad timing for her. It doesn't look good to take off for a month when Jon wants custody. Stay home and look like you care or get your mug on tv. What a Sophie's choice for her! Maybe when she calls 50 times Jon can hang up on her and refuse to let her speak to her children. Wonder how that will go over.
Another thing about CA is they are pretty light on your personal life. It's almost all about the task and your interactions with others on the tasks. She might try to milk the poor me I'm a mother who misses her kids angle (do mothers on the show with two or three kids not miss them just as much?) but there's no guarantee it will even be aired.
Kate can't take criticism. Period. If you watch her face at the end of CWS when Kate and Kendra met Kate lips were pursed and she had a mean look on her face waiting for Kendra to criticize her. Kendra is too sweet of a person to hurt anyone's feelings. CA is very competitive. I personally love the show. It's dog eat dog and the other contestants aren't going to cut her any breaks. I also have followed the show on Twitter and people are brutal. Kate is extremely lazy, has no ingenuity at all, and is a mean, nasty woman. She may be all smiles and kissy, kissy in the beginning but it won't take long for her true colors to show and it won't take long for the others to figure her out, especially Johnny Wier who already has her pegged. I can't wait for Kate Gosselin to be put in her place.
I really think this is a done deal, considering how many online tabloid/gossip sites are running with it; especially since they are all saying Hasselhoff ISN'T for sure yet, but he "has the paperwork".
I found this. Last year's winner Piers Morgan told Us Weekly that contestants are paid $16,000 for three weeks on the show. Is the amount higher or lower than you would have expected? What's that cover 3-4 months on real estate taxes?
What will be poetic is her going in with her delusions of grandeur (remember how cocky she was before she actually HAD to dance? ) and just be totally humiliated.
I'll be pickled tink if she shows up on CA wearing that big ol' veneer grin of hers. That's how she started out on DWTS. She was gonna win! Easy peasy... Take it all home, had it in the bag, snag the trophy, yada yada yada. BUT she left bawling her eyes out and it wasn't because she'd made a laughing stock out of herself, it was because her holiday with Steve was coming to an end and she had to go home and pretend to be a mother again. Plus there was work involved. In fact, did you know dancers do more work in an hour than she does in a month.
Anyway, that's not why I want to watch her on CA if indeed she gets on. It's because I can't wait for the recaps Admin is going to deliver that will be dripping with warm tar and sarcasm. I'm gonna load up on dry tortugas with extra vermouth rumspringa and olives. What knee-slapping fun we'll have.

I don't think she'll be allowed her alone time with purse boy because during filming the contestants are more or less sequestered. 16,000 may sound like a lot because it's one lump sum. But it's a 30 day shoot with about 4 days off, once a week. That's 26 straight days of work, and it's clear from the show that most of those days are 16 hour days with many of them all nighters. Assuming a 16 hour day that really only works out to about $38 an hour. That's a 72,000 a year salary. She could make just as much almost as much as a nurse and in many other professions she is perfectly capable of. So there goes the argument she can't support the kids on a nursing salary. Many nurses make more than a celebrity apprentice, and this is only for a month! Once it's over its not like you can keep doing it for a "career." It's 16 grand in one fat check and then it's OVER, never to happen again.
I think at this point she is desperate enough, and her handler might convince her it could lead to other things. And I agree with whoever said she can't resist the urge to 1 up (in her nougat brain) Jon's gig on CR.
CS - Aw thank you. You would not have said that yesterday. Our furnace went on the fritz and no repairman to be found on Sunday. DH can no longer do those kind of things he was so handy with, so it landed on me. Cold butts call for desperate measures.
I am now edjukated in furnace repair, but I got it working, thanks to Youtube, Fixya and many helpful sites on the web. It took me all day and I didn't know I had such a foul mouth. Hubs says that's part of the process. Think I'll write another book for Dmasy, 'Cursing is in the Fix'.
Kate's desperate, she'll take it! And Jon can get custody, or first right of refusal and get those kids to his home and hopefully do some de-brainwashing...
Today is tuesday, so if the locals saw the kids sliding, you can bet it was with Jon and not Kate. She had to post the pic of one of the girls with the bird, to make people think she had them all day.
Everything she does has a calculated reason behind it.

I'm a quilter and I watch quilt programs on PBS Saturday mornings. I also do block-the- month club at local quilt shop. They provide the patter, fabric and instruction and it's a little cheaper than DIY. There is support from other quilters. I donated a hand-appliqued quilt to granddaughter's high school auction and raised $900! CA are you interested? I'm available.

lalalalala -- You might also want to check with churches in your area. Some ladies aide societies have quilters groups. Also senior citizens centers might have a quilter's group, although if you aren't old enough to qualify as a senior, I don't know if you could get help from them. Your local library might have information about groups in your area, too, and also fabric stores.

Quiltingboard.com, among others. They tutorials, links to tutorials, forums for all kinds of things. No question is too stupid, which is nice. And you can search the forums for whatever your question is about, and get all kinds of answers.
PBC has a quilting show that I like. Quilting with Nancy. It's on a few mornings a week. Another show is a Fons and Porter one, showing how to use quilting tools. Don't know the channel.
Accuquiltgo.com is another good site.

Lalala, google "quilting videos". I have learned and repaired many things by googling the step by step videos. Some want money but most don't. A plethora of knowledge for sure.
I sent IamSuz a tweet, the lady that kate made the horrible comment to about doing more for her kids in one day than she does hers in a week. I wrote as a mom, I apologize. She has no filter. I added kate's twitter on so she could see it too. I also sent The Donald a tweet and asked him if he could confirm or deny that kate would be on CA. It doesn't hurt to ask. I also put kate's tweet addy on that too.

Lukebandit - those who participate in CA have to play for a real, established charity. Please don't even suggest that TFW would try to set up a bogus charity where she would be the main beneficiary, this is how rumors get started. We may not like her but I doubt that she'd do something like that. Why even tweet anything to Donald Trump about her being on the show? The more non fans tweet to him about it the more popular she seems to be. She'll either be on or she won't be on.
IF Kate is picked , and I don't think Gossip Cop is reliable, the appearance will FINISH her. She cannot think on her feet unless CA is scripted . I've never watched because I cannot stand Donald Trump, so I don't know, but if she intends to do her usual exaggerated freaking out, she will come off as a big fool. She wants publicity; then fine. It won't be flattering and maybe someone will have the guts to really deep dive into Kate's lies and secrets. At least Jon is an open book and despite his behavior on CT, he does get sympathy.

The only way TFW can get a decent run on CA is if the women's team virtually runs the table as a result of benching her. Benching TFW would be virtually impossible, since somebody's going to notice her absence. In case the public doesn't mention it, Trump's going to bring that up in the boardroom meetings.
In the unlikely event TFW gets a CA gig, she could make history by being being the first contestant to quit CA as a result of getting fired by their team [they want her gone so badly, they couldn't wait for Trump to get the opportunity].
I would love to see Kate on CA. How is she going to manage without TLC or Steve holding her hand? The fund raising portion of the tasks could prove very embarrassing for her. I wonder if she held that “non-contest” asking for personal information so she would have someone to reach out too when she has to raise funds. I know….it’s a stretch but I wouldn’t put anything past her.
I am curious about the "fine print" of someone being able to represent a charity on a reality show. Do reality show participants have to get permission from the charity to so publicly associate themselves with that charity? I imagine the charity would want to vet the person representing them.
If this CA gig for Kate is real, it would be really amusing if Hershey Medical Center or St. Jude or the Red Cross were to tell her: Ah, thanks, but no thanks, Ms. Gosselin. She would then have to resort to representing a much smaller charity that is desperate for any tiny pittance she would earn for them.

localyocul - Yes, it's always starts out as men vs women. Trump will mix it up during the season and move players around. At the end they compete directly against each other rather than on teams.
Call Me Crazy - I don't know about the fine print, but from what I've seen all the celebs "play" for a charity that they've been associated with for a long time. I am also torn if I want TFW back on TV. On the one hand, the kids would spend more time with Jon and I feel the more she is on TV, the more people will realize exactly how she is. On the other hand, I would prefer if she were blackballed after the Today Show stunt with the twins. I guess if she keeps the kids out of it, let her sink her own ship with millions of people watching.
I've talked in the past how my DIL is so similar to TFW in her behavior. I struggle between not doing much with them, and trying to be present for the kids.
This is so typical of how interactions with them go:
Yesterday I went to a ski meet with my son, the DIL, and 10 yo, 8 yo grandchildren. Mid-day, in the warming house, DIL is making sandwiches for their lunch. Asks the 10yo how many slices of meat she wants on the sandwich. 10yo says 3.
DIL starts screaming that the 10yo must have 4 slices, attracting the attention of the other tables around us. 10yo politely says, "but you asked me how many I wanted, and I said I wanted 3." DIL shouts 'If you're going to be sassy, you can't have anything!!! You can just go hungry!!!!!!" And then she wouldn’t give the 10yo *any* of the food.
Of course the 10yo starts to cry, and looks at me beseechingly, silently begging me to make it stop. She's hungry AND embarrassed at the ruckus her mother is causing.
Then dil says, "If you're going to cry about it, you can go to the car and skip the rest of the meet!"
And then she looks smugly around, wanting people to notice what a strict mom she is and praise her for it. She’s so proud of being a strict mom. But she’s not strict, just mean.
I'm dying. There's nothing that I can do right now to make this better. *Anything* I say or do right then is going to make it worse for the little girl. But I'm sure the little girl is feeling that I'm not standing up for her, that I've abandoned her. I am in so much distress but I have to hide it because if the DIL thinks that I'm criticizing her she'll go even more nuts on the little girl. I wanted to just leave, but that would leave the little girl alone with the mom. I can’t think what to do.
In the meantime the 8yo comes over and DIL starts making his sandwich. She asks him how many slices of meat he wants. He says 2. She says, "Ok. Do you want a slice of cheese with that?" All goodness and light to the little boy. Now the little girl is even more upset.
Finally I thought to offer to take the little girl to the bathroom, and while she was in there I went to the concession stand and bought 2 hot dogs and an apple and stuffed them in my coat pockets. I keep extra food and drink boxes in my camera case, because this kind of thing happens to the 10yo all the time.
So I take my camera case and my coat with the hot dogs in it, and offer to walk the 10yo over to her next race slope to check it out. Thank goodness, the dil thought that was a good idea. On the way over there I dug the food out of my pockets and the camera case, praying that the little girl wouldn’t say anything later to her mom about it. Which she didn’t. Thank you, God.
It’s the best I could do, and it wasn’t enough. I’m still in tears.

Awwww Mel, that is so heartbreaking. I'm so sorry that your Granddaughter suffers (and you as a result) like that. I can only imagine the position you are in.
It may not feel like it to you but I'm sure your gestures, no matter how small they seem to you, are making a positive difference in her life.
Just keep doing what you are and when that little girl grows up and is ready to tackle the unhealthy relationship with her mother, she'll remember that you were on her side.

Mel - That is just awful! What a terrible way for those children, and you, to have to live. I don't have a lot of experience with people of your DIL's ilk, but I do have some serious experience in dealing with bullies. I completely understand your concern that anything you say or do will result in further misery for your granddaughter, but I know I wouldn't be able to contain myself. I would feel compelled to speak up to her, but in a calm and measured way that would make me the target of her wrath (not that that would be very pleasant). An adult is far better equipped than a child to deal with the backlash from a lunatic. And an adult not backing down or being intimidated is a powerful defense against such behavior.
Often times, another adult standing up to these narcissistic bullies is enough to get them to back down. Chances are, nothing you do or say will make things worse for that little girl than the torment she is already being subjected to. But if you speak up, she will at least know that someone is willing to help her. I think that is incredibly important.
I think it is also important that your son take charge of matters like this. The more a bully is allowed to call the shots, the more they will continue to do so. Vanessa may be able to weigh in here with some advice.

I'm not a regular watcher of CA, although I did watch the season when Brett Michaels won. If I'm not mistaken, aren't there several times that the contestants let loose with the F-bomb and other curse words(although they get bleeped)?
The sheeple had fainting spells about the language used on Couples Therapy. Can you imagine if their queen happened to let one loose?
This is a description of CA from the NBC website. I bolded the parts that definitely do not apply to Kate:

I think you're handling your situation perfectly. If you upset the DIL you could be disowned. It's a delicate balancing act. Your grandaughter needs you in her life.
I had a private daycare some years back and watched one of my little charges go through the same thing. She had a step dad (jerk) and a narssisstic mother. Her younger sister by the step dad was the golden child. She would often arrive at my door having not had breakfast. Of course her mother blamed her for dilly dallying. She had to make her own breakfast and lunchbag for school. If her teenage brother took the last of the bread when he made his lunch, she was out of luck. It was border line neglect and I knew if I pushed the issue they would pull her from my daycare and she would be in a worse position.
Every morning after her mother dropped her and her sister off I would have a quick breakfast ready for her and quickly scour her lunchbag to see what was missing. Then I would fix her a proper lunchbag and throw in a llittle note or treat. Then as I was taking all of the elementary age children to school I would quietly talk to her and reassure her that this wasn't going to be forever and it was never her fault and if she had a bad night with her parents she knew I would be there to listen. I had her in my daycare for 5 years and although I think of her from time to time, I tell myself that I think I gave her some good coping skills and confidence in herself to push through.
Unfortunately these kids have to learn survival techniques early on. If they know someone is in their corner they'll keep that to themselves. Your grandaughter probably understands exactly what you're doing. I'm sorry that you're going through this.

You're right Call Me Crazy, I'd forgotten about the All Star CA. There were more men than women on that so they mixed the teams. I do hope that TFW is going to be on and that it's not just a case of "well if so-and-so doesn't sign you're in". If she is signed for CA she won't be able to answer Milo because they can let people know they're on until the official cast is announced.

1. Although contestants donate to charity, they are paid an appearance fee for themselves. I have read different sources that put this fee a either $16,000 or $25,000 for 3 weeks. TFW is surely scheming to get more cash, or find a way to declare herself a charity.
2. Anyone else think her tweet about her "friend" Mark Burnett was put out to make Trump think she has friends in the business with big names and deep pockets? Somehow I doubt Mark B calls TFW a friend.
3. No way in hell is she going to do this show without Steve there to hold her hand. If Trump won't pay for him, then she'll pay him herself. She'll be the only one who shows up with a bodyguard, even though she'll be the most pathetic, washed-up has-been there.

I think you hit the nail on the head. TFW is so far out of her element, has not charity contacts, and it is her way or the highway.
I don't predict a good outcome for her at all, but will give all an opportunity to view her "social ineptness" and hack her apart to get rid of her in the board room. DT may keep her on board for a few weeks for ratings, while her team members hack her apart, but ultimately, she will never make it to the finals.
The only word that TFW sees or hears is celebrity becasue in her mind that is what she is and what she will always be. As to having Steve there to hold her hand? I don't think so. Everyone who has been in the public consciousness, no matter what the reason, and no matter how far removed, will forever have a certain amount of notoriety. No matter how obscure a "celebrity" is, there will always be some reality TV producers who will be anxious and willing to exploit them.

And I remember that Holly Robinson Peete has a long-established charity (with her husband) called HollyRod, to support those dealing with Parkinson's or autism. Every celeb has to select a charity that they will represent and Kate could not choose some made up charity that will actually benefit her.

On CWS, at the end, when the couples met up and talk, Kate was saying her way was the right way, I think she even said that about her way of doing things, was correct. WRONG!

If CA is filming next month, then the kids will still be in school. She's going to leave for 3 weeks during the school year? Jon gets the right of first refusal, so if the the kids live with him for 3 straight weeks, then what are the chances that some of them won't want to go back home? It would be the perfect time for him to file for custody, if that's what he really wants. Or if she doesn't give the the option of keeping the kids, he has a great case to take to court. Leaving the kdis with a nanny for almost a month during the school year and denying their father the opportunity to take care of them is definitely not acting in the kids, best interests.
TFW is going to have to find someone too take care of the house, the dog, the chickens, and Zorro. Plus pay Steve to go to NYC with her for 3 weeks. All of her appearance fee will be gone. I'm sure she'll want a nanny to stay at the house with the kids to they can do all the work, but legally it's not her call, it's Jon's.
This CA thing could be the best thing for Jon, if he truly wants custody. If she denies him the kids--he can take her to court. If the kids stay with him and don't want to go back to Kate's--he can file for custody.

Oh boy, I am a little torn. One part of me hopes WOS makes it onto CA as a contestant. I do not believe the producers would allow her to bring Skeevers along to hold her hand and keep the other contestants at least five feet away from Her Highness at all times. I don't think she could handle having to sit with all the other contestants, try to answer questions shot at her by The Donald, and then be forced to interact with members of the general public during one of the challenges. She would have to be heavily medicated.
Then another part of me thinks she shouldn't even be considered and that this is just desperate posturing to keep herself somehow in the public eye.
Only time will tell if she's actually a cast member. If she is, I will watch because train wrecks like this don't come along often.
(And if she is away for filming, I hope Jon will show up to get his kids, court order in hand. If the staff won't produce the kids, he ought to call the Sheriff to come enforce the court order.)

I can't stand Donald Trump either, but I will watch if Kate is on, just to see how she handles it.
From articles I have read, they usually work 16 hour days, 6 days a week. Plus the women have to get up earlier than the men, because they have to be in hair and makeup at 5:30 am.

Me- Cowboys b/c they could use the money, and are such an affable, pleasant and hilarious pair of brothers. I like the Globetrotters but they probably have millions. Dad-and -Lad-- also a favorite. Like a few of the teams; can't stand a couple more, including one already departed . I like when people who could use the money win, or mediocre folk lol.
I can see a lot of benefits of Kate doing competitive reality tv. Just for starters, it's without the kids. She'll run her mouth about the kids & use them as excuses, but they would be away from her & with Jon.

The CA filming schedule is as brutal as the industry gets. The average TV episode works out to about 5 days. Basically one episode per work week, weekends off. On celebrity they do 14 in 30 days which is about two days. That's nuts and no one remotely unstable can hack it. I suspect they have such a feverish schedule because most celebs can only commit to a short filming schedule all at the same time. The Biggest Loser, in contrast, films over several months for the same number of episodes. There is no getting around it, you have to work. And the lazy and inept and mediocre can't fake it, which is why celebs we thought were nice and hard working are so frequently exposed as frauds on that show. And it's my guilty pleasure.

CA is just not a club I would ever want to be a member of.

I haven't watched CT in several seasons, DT became too much as d-bag in general, and the "celebrities" were below D-List, but have a few thoughts. As much as i hope this is just a rumor, my gut says she will be on. Risk / reward for her - exposure, talk show rounds when the show airs (CA will set it up for publicity to promote the show) time away from the kids, financial perks, hob-nobbing with DT and other "celebrities" - those are some of the rewards. Risks - she doesn't understand that there are any.
Thinking about CWS - if someone watched with no past knowledge, she didn't come off bad. She appeared to be a control monster because she was managing 8 kids all by herself. Kids sharing the chores, who wouldn't lock a child's playhouse in the yard when it wasn't used for safety, etc.
I predict she will be very out of her element and lost. This will be the first time there isn't a production team focused only on her - and we know Kate doesn't share. I predict she will just shut down. I didn't watch Theresa Guidice's season, but I read that Trump called her out in the board room for NOT being the table-flipping crazy she plays on RT. Out of their element, many do not do well. Kate has no business skills, no mangement skills, no people skills, no friends with money, no ability to work with others. I think her performance will be minimal.
Risk / reward for DT: the show must be desperate for talent at this point. She brings ratings. And she is an easy person to vote off in the first week or so. When i watched Trump was truly uncomfortable telling stars that they were fired, she's an easy fire. Does anyone think after 2.5 years of unemployment, Kate realized she's a washed up turd sandwich? I can't see her go to all the effort to go on CA just to melt down, refuse to work and practically beg to get fired.
I can't see her going on CA at all.
But if she does, I wonder if she tries to turn over a new leaf and repair her blackened and tarnished image. Otherwise, she would be leaving her children and wasting many other people's time for nothing.

CA is one reality show I enjoy watching. I loved the Annie Duke vs Joan Rivers season. I'm disappointed Kate was selected because it is obvious she is being picked for ratings and that means Trump will keep her on a required number of shows for ratings. He will use excuses like, the poor women is a single mother of 8 for not firing her a few times as better contestant leave. Trump did this with Omorosa last time she was on, saying her finacee died as the excuse when she raised no money or left the task early.
Trump usually gets upset is contestants don't raise at least 15-20k on a money task. Does Kate have anyone, anyone at all she can call for 10k or even 5k? The few contestants that have had smaller groups(but at least some) of friends to call for donations are very hard workers. They know they can't raise the funds so they are back baking 750 pizzas for 12 hours straight or walking in the rain for 10 hours promoting the task. Kate doesn't have this ethic. Trump will let her skate by somehow, or she will luck out being on a good team for 5-7 episodes as the public yells at the tv saying why are you keeping her!
Remember, when Kate breaks down/has outbursts, it will only be because she'll be under soooo much stress, combined with missing her EIGHT kids. That's going to be the Sheeple Mantra.
I never watch AC, do they have to dress business-like, or is whore-wear acceptable? I'm sure it's one of the first questions Kate asked, too.
I enjoy CA too. As reality shows go it's excellent. Yes there's always the real doofuses or lazy people but the people who make it far are almost always very smart and talented. I like the idea of making celebs prove themselves without a team of helpers. You see who can really sink or swim and there are always some surprises. Dionne being one of the biggest shocks in terms of what a lazy pill she was. Clay Atkin a surprise for how incredible he was at everything. Marlee Matlin a surprise for how funny she was. Her being savvy was not a surprise but her boisterous personality, most of it done all in sign, was a real pleasure.
I don't think TFW should hit up the gullible people from churches that she swindled.....I think she should DONATE their money from HER bank account to the charities on CA. NOW THAT would be fair and just and maybe....just maybe...she won't have to go to Hell.
NBC did renew CA at the last minute so it could very well be Kate was finally seriously considered. They will get drama with her laziness and whining. I do not understand why a sane person would want to appear on national tv as such a bitch. I guess I just answered my thought; she is not sane.
Anyway, the child care arrangements should be interesting. If she denies Jon, he can take her court. I am wondering if she will actually be on CA considering Jon's custody suit. A parent embroiled in something like that would not want to give their ex any ammunition. And if Jon does not take care of the kids while she is filming, then he's not sincere at all.
ITA she'll have meltdowns because she "misses" her kids. Baloney. All that will do is seal her fate that she cannot travel for work. Idiot.

Another thing about CA is they are pretty light on your personal life. It's almost all about the task and your interactions with others on the tasks. She might try to milk the poor me I'm a mother who misses her kids angle (do mothers on the show with two or three kids not miss them just as much?) but there's no guarantee it will even be aired.
Kate can't take criticism. Period. If you watch her face at the end of CWS when Kate and Kendra met Kate lips were pursed and she had a mean look on her face waiting for Kendra to criticize her. Kendra is too sweet of a person to hurt anyone's feelings. CA is very competitive. I personally love the show. It's dog eat dog and the other contestants aren't going to cut her any breaks. I also have followed the show on Twitter and people are brutal. Kate is extremely lazy, has no ingenuity at all, and is a mean, nasty woman. She may be all smiles and kissy, kissy in the beginning but it won't take long for her true colors to show and it won't take long for the others to figure her out, especially Johnny Wier who already has her pegged. I can't wait for Kate Gosselin to be put in her place.
Admin, don't worry about TFW calling 50 times. Remember, she only cares to communicate if it's an emergency, and no news is good news.
I really think this is a done deal, considering how many online tabloid/gossip sites are running with it; especially since they are all saying Hasselhoff ISN'T for sure yet, but he "has the paperwork".

I found this. Last year's winner Piers Morgan told Us Weekly that contestants are paid $16,000 for three weeks on the show. Is the amount higher or lower than you would have expected?
What's that cover 3-4 months on real estate taxes?

Berks Neighbor -- how much snow do you have on the ground over there? We've got next to nothing, certainly not enough to go sledding. It was strange walking on the grass today! It was 55 degrees, with even warmer temps tomorrow, and then back down into the teens mid week. What a roller coaster this has been!

I don't think she'll be allowed her alone time with purse boy because during filming the contestants are more or less sequestered. No outside contact or help from anyone - no twittering, texting, no talking about the show at all. They can't even talk about when they're fired until the actually airs. Work, work, work.

16,000 may sound like a lot because it's one lump sum. But it's a 30 day shoot with about 4 days off, once a week. That's 26 straight days of work, and it's clear from the show that most of those days are 16 hour days with many of them all nighters. Assuming a 16 hour day that really only works out to about $38 an hour. That's a 72,000 a year salary. She could make just as much almost as much as a nurse and in many other professions she is perfectly capable of. So there goes the argument she can't support the kids on a nursing salary. Many nurses make more than a celebrity apprentice, and this is only for a month! Once it's over its not like you can keep doing it for a "career." It's 16 grand in one fat check and then it's OVER, never to happen again.
I think at this point she is desperate enough, and her handler might convince her it could lead to other things. And I agree with whoever said she can't resist the urge to 1 up (in her nougat brain) Jon's gig on CR.

CS - Aw thank you. You would not have said that yesterday. Our furnace went on the fritz and no repairman to be found on Sunday. DH can no longer do those kind of things he was so handy with, so it landed on me. Cold butts call for desperate measures.
I am now edjukated in furnace repair, but I got it working, thanks to Youtube, Fixya and many helpful sites on the web. It took me all day and I didn't know I had such a foul mouth. Hubs says that's part of the process. Think I'll write another book for Dmasy, 'Cursing is in the Fix'.
But we are warm again.

Today is tuesday, so if the locals saw the kids sliding, you can bet it was with Jon and not Kate. She had to post the pic of one of the girls with the bird, to make people think she had them all day.
