The Twitter "hate" for Carrie Underwood

Twitter hate is par for the course sometimes. The question is how a celebrity deals with it. Carrie Underwood took on the role of Maria in an NBC live version of The Sound of Music tonight, and it wasn't long before she was sucker punched all over Twitter.

The endless nasty tweets, which have gone on for weeks now, include ones calling her a "retarded Maria" and a "bimbo," tweets blasting her acting ("she can't act her way out of a brown paper package tied up with string"), and photos comparing her acting coach to a wooden board. One tweet even asked for a moment of silence for the children whose first experience with The Sound of Music is with Underwood. Some tweets are funny, while others sound frightening. Underwood has even reportedly received death threats.

Underwood's response to all the hate? A mature and matter-of-fact, "I know I'm not Julie. I know my place."

Carrie is no Julie Andrews that's for sure, but she is a mature adult who knows how to deal with Twitter hate in an appropriate manner. Refreshing.

As for Julie Andrews, she gave her blessing to Underwood, but indicated a live show would be difficult. "She's lovely and I'm a fan," Andrews said.

Admin said: Little boys and some girls have been play acting "violence" since the beginning of time. What I find absurd is in those same schools senior year so many of them have Army recruiters come in and talk to the kids! So let me get this straight, no play acting battles but we'll let an Army officer come in and recruit you fresh out of high school to go kill real people, that's okay?

========

Many schools have JROTC programs and as an army wife I kind of take exception to your statement that the recruiters come in to recruit the kids to go and kill "real" people. That's not what the army is about. There are many, many job opportunities that the military services offer. My husband, as a career officer, has never killed anyone (and I don't wan't to start the officer vs enlisted debate). Your statement is like saying that the police recruiters come in and recruit kids to kill real bad guys. Sorry admin, have to disagree on this.

************************

NJ, my husband was involved in Air Cadets (Canadian version of JROTC for the Royal Canadian Air Forces) from the age of 12 and worked his way through the program until his senior year when they told him he couldn't be a fighter pilot (like his father), because of his eyesight.

I get that the Army can be a wonderful career opportunity for people looking to maximize skills in various areas.

But to state that..."That's not what the army is about." when discussing random recruitment and the hypocrisy of the way we deal with violence in our society is not the same thing.

Before anyone gets assigned any post in the army they go through basic training. Survival skills, weapons operations, war games.

Recruits are "trained to kill", no matter what branch they end up working for. Doesn't mean they ever see the front lines, doesn't mean they ever fire a weapon but they are taught these skills.

All Admin was saying, I think, is that's it's awfully hypocritical for us as a society to punish small children for play acting the violence they see in the world when at 18 they can be recruited for the real life experience.

Again, we can not blanket the discussion with, "Well, my so and so is in the Army and he never killed anyone."

Maybe you're husband never killed anyone, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that he is well trained to do so should the need arise.

Meanwhile, we are teaching our children that to even pretend hurting another human being is a horrendous act against society.

I think that's the point Admin was making.

I also don't get the suspension thing. I would have loved to be suspended from school when I was kid. We had to go sit in the detention room for an alloted time depending on the infraction. And we had to sit with our hands clasped behind our heads. Sometimes we got the strap along with it, depending again on what we did. Staying at home for a day or two would have been a welcome alternative.

True, but depending upon the grade, it goes on your record. College look at those things when deciding upon your acceptance.

I agree. I once found one of my kids "playing doctor" with one of her friends when they were about 5 yrs old. Should I have punished them? Made a bigger deal than it was?

Plus, if these policies are meant to put a stop to school shootings, it does nothing if there is an arsenal at home. It does nothing to stop these disturbed individuals, adults and children, from accessing weapons. It's the lack of mental health resources, a stigma attached to getting help and also offering help.

So I am guessing from her tweet that she probably has a "private" instructor?
*****
Hot yoga is done in a studio under controlled temperature, so I highly doubt it.
If it were say, Hatha yoga, I'd say probably private, but she needs a studio.
She might be getting private lessons in a studio, which I can believe.
We mediocres take group classes.

Also, yet another slap in the mediocre moms faces!
Running for hours, mani pedi, yoga etc. No regular mom spends their days like this.
It's no wonder that Kate's ardent fans are youngsters.
This is what bothered me about Hank Gathers blathering on about Kate raising 8 kids alone. No mom with 1or 2 kids could spend their days at the spa and yoga studio.
To further the notion that Kate does it all alone is a disservice to real moms everywhere.
In Robert's book, he relates that Kate would dump sick kids on Jon during his custody time, because she didn't want to deal with it.
Kate handed over a very ill Alexis, who'd been sick for days. Jon was instructed by Kate to take her to the doctor. Alexis had strep throat.
I've had it, and it is really miserable and can lead to serious health problems, and she's a FREAKING PREMATURE HOM CHILD!
Robert witnessed first-hand that Kate made trips (alone) to Target and the spa while Alexis was sick all those days.
So, whether the kids are at school, or at home, or even very sick, Kate manages to get her "me" time in.
The only difference now is that she takes to Twitter to brag about it.

Fleecing The Sheeple said...

I don't see any evidence he ever tried to help her do the right thing, such as to stop filming the kids and not make stupid financial decisions, like hiring him for thousands of dollars when she could just use the provided store security.

===========

He was hired to provide security. I don't think his job description involved making value judgments for her, or advising her about what is right and wrong. Why would he? If he told her she should stop filming the kids, there goes his job. I think in that case, it was all about the money and his job security in providing for his family. It's not personal, it's business.

Even if their "relationship" developed into something more than just employer-employee, what are the chances that she would have listened? I don't think she'd take advice from anyone.

Auntie I don't get it either. My brother caught on very quickly that with two working parents, being suspended was a joy. Home, all day, alone? With no authority figures? Hallelujah! My dad caught on to my brother catching on and started making him come into work with him with a sign on my dad's desk saying something like "I'm here because I was suspended from school". My brother's school behavior miraculously corrected itself. Who knew?

And everyone else. I have one of those stories. My young relative (forget what age he was when this happened, somewhere between 8-10) was in Boy Scouts and forgot that he had a pocket knife in his pocket left over from his weekend camping trip. When he found it, he went to a teacher to tell them he brought it by accident, thinking they would take it from him and give it back to him at the end of the day. Instead he got a 3 day suspension and his mother had to use 3 days vacation from work to stay home with him. What lesson did that teach?

Insert Creative Username Here said...

I'm not one to blame the school administrators because it's the environment they live in. They have to create no tolerance policies because parents overreact. I'm not saying ALL parents, I'm saying some parents, enough that they have to create across-the-board policies so that every kid is treated the same no matter the offense. School boards face lawsuits yearly, and there's enough money to stand up to every parent with a complaint. Parents are catching on to this and suing for nothing and getting away with it. The only way a school board can fight against these is to try their best to not create situations that will lead to lawsuits.

While that's not a lot of $$$ per class, if she's going regularly or having private lessons which he tells me are $50-$60 an hour, it doesn't say much about her piecing and patching.

Well, because in true and classic bully fashion, Kate only picks on those she deems smaller and weaker than her.

If I were her, I would be furious if I was accused of stealing from my kids. I can't stand the woman, but I don't think she's actually stealing from them. She may be using their earnings from the show to pay their tuition, orthodontist bills, etc. Crappy, but she's legally allowed to do it. I hope kate does sue Star Magazine. Then she would have to sit through depositions and it might come out that she used the kids college fund money to pay for her and the bills. About the hot yoga. I had never heard of it before and then reading here about it, I thought of James Ray and the steam tents out in the desert. She must of really indulged, in her mind to be knocking her brains out trying to get it off.

My point being that if we are a society that even has to have a military in the first place and we ask out young people to join, it's unfair and hypocritical to ask those same kids never to think about or act out wars and violence.

*****************
Admin this is a problem that's recently coming to light with the young people joining our military. We raise them to be nonviolent and to be sensitive to every perceived slight under the guise of bullying. Then we stick a gun in their hand and tell them it is okay, even necessary, to kill. If they think for a moment that taking the shot might be the wrong thing to do they've endangered their fellow soldiers and themselves. It's quite a quandary we've created.

I don't undertand the shaking either. I have never done hot yoga it scares me, but I have done a few regular yoga classes that were pretty hard. I never felt shaky afterward, and I fully participated. I felt energized and strengthened. If you are shaky who knows what is going on, but it could be dehydration or some kind of mineral deficiency. There is such a thing as overworking the muscles where you're not reaping the benefits of a workout. In any case I can't imagine very many professionals would recommend you work out to the point of shaking. I just can't imagine this is usually a good thing.

Sorry if this is a repeat post. Seems I tried to send it before, but it got lost (along with the internet connection).

I tried to bring in the matriarch (head cat), but she wanted no part of it. I made beds with old pillows and blankets, put their food and water in there and a litter box, even though they are not litter trained and have never been in a house. Mom Cat ran right back outside. Funny thing is, though, when I picked her up, she didn't feel cold and her belly was warm. I'll keep the back garage door open just a crack until I go to bed and if they change their minds, they can go in there. I just don't want coons and skunks to take up homesteading in my garage.

I had built a shelter for them outside with blankets and beds, so I guess they are used to that. I don't want to bring them in the house with the indoor cats because of fleas and the possibility of feline leukemia. I just worry so much about them surviving in this brutal cold.

Excellent she is working (yoga) exercises until she is shaking. That is not desirable. Indeed, it is a symptom. One of two things has happened: Either she has overworked the muscle to such an extent that it does know how to go back to its original position, and therefore trembles; or she is irritating her nervous system by practicing too intensely or incorrectly, and a nerve is firing, causing the muscles to shake.

No, no, no.
Holding these yoga positions, which can be extremes of positions for some, simply causes the muscles to fatigue, and they shake.
Dehydration may exacerbate this.
Anyone's muscle can be worked to fatigue, when shaking is seen, and finally to failure, where the contractile units (actin and myosin) just can no longer work until given a chance to recover.
Look, Kate overdid it at yoga, which happens if your body is new to it. It's no big deal.
The issue I see is Kate feeling compelled to do cardio just hours later, which is a sure sign of orthorexia.
Kate had no discipline when it came to distance running, and unless she takes a disciplined and well-rounded approach to hot yoga (adequate hydration and nutrition, rest, cross training, alternating working muscle groups), she'll fail at this too.

anon fitness freak said...

Tuckers Mom, I did not say it was a big deal, as someone who has practiced yoga for many years, I expressed my opinion. One "no" would be sufficient. In summary I said it was fatigue and strain. I just went into detail. Was just a reader here, first time posting.

That said, here's the little that I know about the topic at hand: Bikram yoga is controversial, in part because of the methodology, and partly because the founder himself has found himself in legal hot water on several occasions. I often read opinions that cause me to think about something in a way I hadn't previously....and I consider that a good thing. I like being exposed to different thoughts that cause me to think outside the box of my own opinions.

Auntie, you posted that because of your brutally cold weather, you've opened your garage door for your cats, How did that work out?
Tonight we're getting an arctic blast, with windchill about 1. I'm really worried about them...that they are going to freeze. I am seriously considering bringing them inside for the night, setting up some beds in the spare room. How low a temp can outside cats stand without hypothermia setting in? They aren't wild in the sense that they run away, but are actually very tame and friendly.

====

TFW's County, I don't know if any cats went in there, I couldn't tell if the blanket was disturbed but it didn't look like it had been. I did that because one year I found a cat frozen to death beside the garage and it bothers me still. Our own two are indoor cats who have made it perfectly clear they'd rather live in Hawaii. They have no intention of leaving the house when it's cold outside.

I know ferals are hardy and adapt to outdoor temps but I don't know how much cold they can tolerate. It was so brutally cold last weekend I had to do something if only to ease my conscience about having a warm bed to crawl into knowing that animals were suffering in the extreme cold out there.

Good luck with your strays. I don't know if bringing them inside is a good idea or not. They might mark their territory. They'd probably welcome the warmth and your loving concern about them but you may end up with permanent houseguests :o)

I wish I had better advice to give you, but it's up to you if you want to bring them in or just make a more comfortable shelter for them outside.

anon fitness freak- NO, don't leave! It is nice to hear the opinion of someone who is trained, from someone who is new posting here! Don't be offended, sometimes we say things so quickly, we did not realize how it sounded. Give it another chance!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's me right now, in a nutshell. Thank you prairiemary. I am sorry that it sounded like I was trying to drag G and her kids into this. But when I found out that G worked for that financial co. and the way Steve has clearly taken advantage of the situation with kate. I was thinking all kinds of things. It saddens me that those kids are taken advantage of financially. Steve's made bundles of money, travels, eats at 5 star hotels. Like someone said before, pizza gate really showed his colors. He didn't care not one bit Mady was upset about it and kate going berserk over it. kate don't pay the bills the kids do. The kids work when filming, kate just plays and runs in and out of the frame. kate even wanted him named as trustee, and Jon stopped that. That is awful. I wonder if she had to pay him his fee when he showed up at the charity auction.
Wasn't it years ago, anybody could get a life insurance policy on anyone they wanted to for any amount without the person's knowledge and name their self as the beneficiary as long as the payments were made. My former agent told me now you have to have permission. When my ex and I bought our house, we bought a separate policy to pay off our mortgage if one of us died. I didn't qualify, but my ex did. Then we divorced and lost the house to foreclosure so the policy became a life insurance policy. By then my ex had moved out of state and with his GF and I tried to find out from the agent who the beneficiary was. I wanted it to be our 3 sons equally. He said he couldn't tell me. Called ex and he wouldn't tell me. I was afraid he had put his GF on it. Then he finally told me he had the boys on it. I have no idea if he is still paying on it 12 years later.
anon fitness freak, please don't leave. This is a really good group of posters here. We talk about a lot of things, including kate. Support and kindness dwells here when we talk about our own childhoods, bad situations, our beloved pets, our loves, hope and dreams. Please stick it out a little longer, you will see.
Again, I sincerely apologize.
Wild guess re: Kate allegedly filing new case against RH re: copyright infringement. 1) Case dismissed as she no longer wishes to pursue (unlikely); 2) Some type of settlement, whereby Kate agrees to pay RH's attorney fees' and $$$ in exchange for not publishing book; 3) Case pending as no settlement has been agreed to - highly likely.
Although Kate agreed to dismissal of the initial conspiracy theory with Jon, I have no doubt that she is still trying to block JH's book, as the truth will not support her image. The lawyers are probably trying to hash this out, and pulling their hair out in reaching some type of resolution. JMO
Sorry if it sounded aggressive.
Your theories are beyond speculative, they are unsound and without scientific merit.
There are people with vast backgrounds here, so, for example, if I were to speculate wildly about Kate's /Robert's/Jon's legal matters as if it were fact, I wouldn't be surprised if someone cut me off and damped the misleading information.
If there's one thing about this blog, there are a lot of checks to keep things from going off the rails and entering into unfounded rumor territory.
Those checks come from fact checking, common sense, and the educational and professional backgrounds of our members.
I hope you feel free to contribute and know that I felt compelled to "set the record straight".
It wasn't personal. My triple "no" was me shaking my head and trying to translate that to the page.
Auntie Ann, Creative Name, et. al. -- Keep in mind that a lot of school suspensions are not free days at home these days. They are served at school or a school alternative with direct (often one on one) supervision. So the kid isn't really getting away with anything or enjoying a "vacation" from class.
-------------------------------------------
I'm sure this is different every where, but in my experience has been that any infraction of the no tolerance policy for violence would not be served in an in school suspension. They're considered out of school suspension. In school suspensions are usually reserved for infractions like skipping class, or other, less serious offenses.
And yes like all big fads in LA they eventually reach the rest of the country. I don't get why so much of our country takes such stock in what LA and Hollywood do.
I think exercising in extreme temperatures just isn't smart. I have run in freezing temps, natural environment this time of year, but I dress in layers to do so. I too think there is something strange about purposely turning up the heat in a building in order to become dehydrated. That is not healthy or contributing to fitness, IN MY OPINION...lol.
Totally OT, but I know we have some cat people here. We have two strays that live on our deck and below the deck and in our rock pile. So far, they've been surviving the cold. They greet me every morning when I feed them, put fresh water in their bowls that has frozen over night. They are real sweethearts.
Awww that's sweet of you to think of those cats. I don't have an answer to your question but to say that my dad has taken in strays before, and he starts them in the basement. They might seem tame, but stray cats are hit or miss with their wild behavior and you don't want to risk them going stir crazy and destroying stuff with no easy way of getting them back outside. Of course, my dad had outside access to his basement, so this was a little easier for him. Usually he would just open the door on cold nights and the cat either chose to go in or not. Good luck and I hope those kitties stay warm!
Excellent she is working (yoga) exercises until she is shaking. That is not desirable. Indeed, it is a symptom. One of two things has happened: Either she has overworked the muscle to such an extent that it does know how to go back to its original position, and therefore trembles; or she is irritating her nervous system by practicing too intensely or incorrectly, and a nerve is firing, causing the muscles to shake.
------------------------
Or it could be lactic acid build up from lack of eating. It could be a million things, but let's agree that whatever the reason, shaking after exercise is not good.
NJGal51 said...
We routinely have temps that are 105 or greater in the summer and there's no way on God's green earth that I'm going to go out and exercise for 10 minutes let alone 90!
I'm going to bring Swedish pepparkakor cookies. My brother made the dough and had a cookie party and everyone rolled their own (sounds like a 60's/70's party). The secret to getting them thin, thin, thin and not having them stick is to roll the dough between two pieces of parchment paper. Peel off the top, use the cookie cutters on dough and remove excess dough (i used a small metal spatula) and then just put the parchment paper on the cookie sheet to bake.
Kate didn't say she was shaking after, just that she's worked until she's shaking.
It's like if I put a dumbell in your hand and had you hold it out straight in front of you at shoulder level. At some point, your muscles are going to shake and you will have to lower it.
It doesn't mean you'll be shaking after.
You work the muscle to fatigue, then rest and the muscle recuperates, and then you go on per normal.
Lactic acid causes a burning sensation and can leave soreness afterwards, but again, the body rids itself of the lactic acid and recovery occurs.
My guess is that Kate's chosen this hot yoga to lose or maintain weight visa vis the excessive sweating.
My neighbor loves her hot yoga classes. She's about 60 years old and feels like it allows her to stretch and become more limber.
I think all of these classes live or die by the talent, experience and knowledge of the instructor.
You know who used to bother the heck out of me? That Jackie Warner who had the Work Out show.
She's an idiot with no educational background to be a fitness "guru". I used to yell at my tv when she'd take these obese people and make them work until they puked, and act like that was a badge of honor.
She's just lucky no one died on her show.
Anyways, hot yoga is not for me!
I took Hatha yoga for many years and had an amazing instructor years ago, who owned her own studio in Bucks County, PA.
She was probably into her 60's when I took her class, and her body was beautiful. She was lithe and graceful and I enjoyed her classes, except she'd always tell us to imagine our heads resting on its "axle"!
I never did have the heart to correct her...
This is very interesting- Tamara Barney of RHOOC is petitioning the court to compel her ex-husband and father of 3 of her children to sign a consent for the children to participate in Bravo's reality show.
Apparently, Bravo will not film the children due to their father's threats, although legally, Barney can have them filmed, with her consent only, during her custody time.
This will be very interesting to see what happened, since I believe TLC continued to film the Gosselin kids despite Jon's disapproval.
When I saw that tweet about the dog getting picked up by his chariot for a day of pampering, the first thing I thought of was that toad has the money to be able to afford that little luxury on a regular basis. Can't believe that she would blow good money for Shoka to be picked up by a chariot to be wisked away to the groomers when she could of done it herself. She does do errands during the day when the kids are in school, doesn't she? She could very easily drop him off, run some errands and pick him up. I am glad that Shoka gets a reprieve from the warden/Alcatraz and gets to get out for some pampering.
That extra expense picking him up and dropping him off is unnecessary, unless it was a once in a blue moon situation and couldn't do it herself. She is supposedly piecing and a patching money to survive, she told People magazine, she told the world!
NJGal51 said...
Paper Plates - I can't fault her for getting Shoka groomed. I get my bully groomed once a month and he's an inside dog. However, I take him to the groomer and pick him up. He loves it because he gets to go to doggy day camp before the grooming. Doggy day camp is his Disneyland and he goes at least twice a month. It really doesn't cost that much...$60 for day camp/grooming/tip.
Kate wants to do hot yoga because other celebrities do it so she thinks it will make her more like them.
The premise that you need to replicate the heat and humidity of India to get a true yoga experience is, IMO, baseless and false. But then, this Bikram guy sounds like a con man anyway.
OrangeCrusher1 said...
No one is suggesting that Shoka not be groomed, but unless this is a package deal, with pick up service included, it is bemusing to note the piecing and patching woman of 2013 sure has a lot of extras in her budget: this, the private hot yoga sessions, the expensive bird/toy and so on. If she didn't whine poor, it would not be noticed. Or if she stayed off Twitter with these little droppings, same thing.
Funny, I just DROVE my dog to the groomers. She has to be trimmed as she has hair that grows, not fur,and gets mats etc. I love my little local groomer.
Angie said...
I specifically recall WOS twittering or blogging that in occasion she let the dog ride along to pick up the kids at the bus stop. She doesn't take the dog because she doesn't want to. Simple as that. Grooming a large dog has to be pricey. Having my medium sized dog groomed sets me back $65.
The only piecing and patching she does is with the kids.
On another note, it's a Shane she is so focused on her outward appearance-- she needs to work on what's inside.
When TFW invites him to ride, she says "It's very obvious what he thinks when he plasters his ears flat against his head, tucks his tail, and slinks away, out of sight as quickly as possible." When Rick picks him up "... he hops into Rick’s truck without even the slightest hesitation. In fact, his face lights up..."
She also talks about Shoka 'observing their lives from outside' which always bothers me but does especially this time of the year when the weather is often so brutal. She talks about the water frogs, too - which I'd completely forgotten they had when she mentioned them recently.
There's not much to grooming a bulldog (bath, trim wiskers and clear anal glands) which is why it's probably cheaper to get him done. We go to a local place that we used with our previous bully. They have a day camp which my guy absolutely loves because he loves to play with his pals. We'll drop him at day camp at about 8 and pick him up around 4. That way he gets a full day of play and his bath at the very end of the day. Since it's Christmas we'll give a bigger tip this time around. Added bonus is that he'll sleep the entire next day so I can get some work done around the house.
Thanks Admin, I've been curious. Though deep down, from what I've read about it, not sure my heart can take it. I've always felt a strange affinity toward water mammals.
And you wrote in a previous comment that you once visited a water park in Ontario...it was indeed Marineland in Toronto.
We were just there two years ago and as much of a thrill it was to see such beautiful, magnificent creatures up close, it was incredibly sad too.
We went underground and the seals were in a tank way too small for them, there were about a dozen, and they just swam around in a constant circle. What kind of life is that?
Next over was the Orca and once I got passed my own awe at her sheer size and shape, I couldn't imagine what it was like to be all alone and put on display. It was heartbreaking.
After that we went back up to see the Beluga whales and they are beautiful. There was a stand where you could buy food to feed them.
There was also a $20 charge for the chance to buy the $5 food to feed them. There was also an opportunity to buy a picture of you (mostly children) feeding the whale for another $35.
At this point I was completely disheartened and swore that I would never support this kind of thing again.
It just furthers in my mind the saying 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should'.
In the meantime 6 year olds are getting suspended from school for pretending to shoot an arrow.
Robin Hood, Legolas and Hawkeye, you bastards.
I feel badly for her since she is working so hard, holidays- Xmas and NY Eve- trying to raise $ for her cat's surgery. If I had more money like SOME people, I owuld gladly help her more.
NJGal51, that is a brilliant idea with the cookie dough and the parchment paper.
I come up with a recipe idea. You know those big garlic butter breads that come in the aluminum foil bag they usually sell at the deli? My idea is take it out of the bag, take the top layer of the bread off and make your favorite meatballs and sauce, or you can buy frozen meatballs and my favorite Prego Chunky Spaghetti Sauce, heat on the stove or in the crockpot. Place meatballs w/sauce on bread, add Parmesan cheese, Mozzarella cheese and/or caramelize some onions, bell peppers, mushrooms what ever you want and add on.
Then place the bread back on top, then place in bag and then bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Check to see if bread is crispy or till you like it.
You could even cut it in half and freeze the other half.
Or maybe they know about her obsession with Kate, as well as her whining for attention and they've had it up the gazoo with her.
A 16 yr. old girl has been reported missing from her home this morning. She went missing between the hours of 3 am and 6 am. Just south of Pittsburgh, a town called Blairsville, PA. I googled to see if there was an update and there was another girl 15 years old that came up missing and has been missing 20 years in 2007 from Blairsville, PA. This is her mothers facebook page, you can scroll down and see her post.
Well, you are not alone in that. We won't be getting our tree until this Sunday, although I do have the inside of the house decorated. Outside - still nothing! Hoping my son will help me put them up also on Sunday.
As to shopping, I am doing most of mine online this year, as with each passing year, I really dread the Christmas crowds.
Brrrrrr! to those of you in colder climates and dealing with icy/snowy roads. It is plenty cold here, but roads are dry and clear.
I was wondering what happened to the Austin fellow who had a crush on Kate...haven't heard much from him lately after the sleep-over that never happened, or the meet-up with Kate in the middle of the country the never materialized. I looked at his TL and it seems he has moved on to another celebrity. I guess you can be ignored only so many times until you call it quits.
That's why I think I'm going to commune with Amazon this weekend and pick up the toys there. One of my kids has really wanted a Nintendo 3DS XL since last year. I've been putting money aside throughout the year and fortunately have a friend who works at Target. They're going on sale there this week, down to $149 and she will get her discount so that's going to help a bit too. My youngest is into Lego Friends, so we're getting her one of the larger sets. The rest is going to be simple stuff - clothes, books, stocking stuffers.
I don't think we'll ever see Edition II of Robert's book. Personally believe it was just a tease and he was having a whole lot of fun torturing Kate at what he "might" leak. If he had anything, what's he waiting for? Milo is just looking for pity. She/he supposedly has a 15 year old daughter and son that graduated high school. Guess he does nothing, no work or school. (Sorry you don't live in my house if you aren't at least going to school and/or working after 18.) Gee this time I year I was so busy with school activities, band concerts, bake sales, Christmas Shopping, baking. Who has time for the old pity me. You suck it up and go on. My father died 9 months before last Christmas. Of course I had my wonderful family memories, but we're still creating new memories as the kids get older. First time newly married daughter was here on Christmas morning - oh my. I am a sap when it comes to sentimental stuff. I've got plenty of problems just walking due to severe arthritis, but I keep on going.
Admin has asked us not to discuss this tweeter, though people occasionally do discuss how other tweeters react to her / ignore her.
She appears to be extremely naive and either believes every gossip site she reads or doesn't understand gossip pieces and asks for clarification. She wants J and K to get back together again.
Unless the account is a very clever put-on, it's very sad that someone so unsophisticated should get caught up in the Kate cesspool.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
I can't sympathize with this woe is me twitter sympathy ploy. It's for attention. Guess what, lots of people have it very tough around the holidays. But the way to deal with it is not to go on social media soliciting a bunch of strangers to feel sorry for you. That is taking advantage of others. And I do kind of see where her family is coming from telling her to get over it. I doubt they said it to her that way, and they too may wonder how much of this is legitimate emotions and how much is simply behavior crafted for attention.
I wish I had TFW's money, my husband works and I don't, so I had to buy clippers and scissors, and a book, and learned on my own how to do puppy cuts on my 3 small dogs, and just a brush, bath, and a lot of trimming on the Border Collie my husband brought home. I have the rescued Maltese mix, and hers is more hair than fur, I just keep it cleaned and combed, it is a lot healthier since I got her. Shoka does not need any fancy cuts, she could easily learn the basics, and do his grooming herself, if she wasn't so darn lazy! I was wondering is anyone here has a Maltese, and if so, do they have extremely long legs?
As for Christmas baking this year, I have been doing a lot of cheese cakes for gifts. I bought a few of the 6" molds, they are a great size for gifting to people. I also found 4 or 5 different types of shortbread cookie recipes, and am going to make all of them, then put a few of each on Christmas plates to give out. I am hoping and praying that my 20 year old oven holds on until the holidays are over!
Hmmm. I don't know, NJ Gal... Maybe it's just me, but... since when a rastafarian buddhist French-canadian of amerindian descent wears a burka? The simplest explanation is that Franky's fingerprints were not scanned but that she DID have her fingers "photographed" because she told the wrong person that she was is a rastafarian buddhist French-canadian of amerindian descent. The burka part, I admit, I don't get. :)
The thing that bothered me more was the convoluted wording. Her tweet made it sound like she did the hot yoga in her basement with the kids watching as well as the run she mentioned. Someone asked if you could do hot yoga at home. Another said you could if you knew what you were doing. I'm actually more willing to believe that she paid to put in a special area and has the teacher come to her home, damn the price. She's too speshul for a regular yoga studio where other people walk barefoot and share the props.
ahem.. for %%$ we got a ticket for the day, for %$ more, a season pass. Since we were there for # days, with kids, we got the season pass, which led to photos, for ID. No problemo. That led to our index fingers being scanned.
I was, like, what?, ah, ok.
Then I saw women in burkas and I completely unsterstood. Had never seen a Burka before, never want to again, and watched while they were treated like @nd class citizens by the men.
Oye, don't get me started on that. but yes, rastafari/bhuddist of irish descent, French Canadian, and proud to show my face in public.
ps, dd has more attitude than me!
Rhymes with Witch said...
Ok, here's my interpretation.
There is a fingerprint type policy in place because of women being difficult to ID because they wear burkas. The policy applies to all, burka or not. ???
SwingsandRoundabouts said...
Knowing the district in which franky lives, I doubt very much that she would be walking around in a burka. Believe me. If she does it would only be a deliberate provocation.
Where we live the provincial government is proposing a Charter of Values which in part would prohibit any outward identifiers of one's religion for those who work in public office or for those who work with the public: government offices, hospitals, schools, daycares etc. So turbans, burkas, kippahs, hijabs or crosses would be outlawed to ensure a secular state. Publicly. Of course if one does not work with the public, religious identifiers are not a problem. Yet.
To be sure there has been some resistance to the proposed charter but still 60% of people are in favor of it.
As a result of this however there have been some verbal attacks on women wearing hijabs from the usual bunch of racists. And the charter has not yet come into law. I sincerely hope it never will.
God Bless Newtown today. I remember exactly where I was. I was in the car and had the news radio on. First they reported there was a school shooting, then that it was an elementary school, and then that FIRST graders were shot. It just kept getting worse and worse and was so shocking and devastating. I listened to the 911 calls. I guess when I think if these mass shootings I think of a rambo type automati gun. You could hear the gunshots in the background of the call and they went on and on. That bastard picked off kids and teachers one by one. I didn't realize one child survived the classroom where the whole rest of the class was killed. According to the AG report, a police officer saw here emerge and made her go back in until he could be sure the hall was secure. She had to go back in that room with all those victims. I can't even go there in my mind.
Plaintiff TFW entered the "Notice of Voluntary Dismissal" on 11/27/13. This will not be signed by a judge. The case is officially terminated, but not formally "closed."
I think legal proceedings are very chess like. Motions are filed by one side, and within a certain period of time an appropriate response of some sort is filed by the other.
It is my understanding that an "order" from the court will most likely appear 90 days after the date, 11/27/2013, whent he "Notice of Dismissal" was filed, unless one party is given permission from the court to revive the lawsuit. Very, very unlikely in this case.
The action is at an "end" when judgment is formally entered on the records of the court. That matter will then be officially closed.
The above thoughts are my opinion based on my understanding,
don't scold me or call me out...
