Veteran's Day

On this special day, we honor veteran Lieutenant Colonel Michael Strobl, our military parents, siblings and friends, and all those who served.

Odds are you don't know the name Michael Strobl. But you may have heard of the essay he wrote, A Marine's Journey Home, which was subsequently turned into the moving film Taking Chance. Occasionally, there are "reality" stories that should be told. This was one of them.

Wrote Strobl: "I didn't know how to express my sympathy for their loss and my gratitude for their sacrifice. Now, however, they were repeatedly thanking me for bringing their son home and for my service. I was humbled beyond words. I told them that I had some of his things and asked if we could find a quiet place. The five of us ended up in what appeared to be a computer lab -- not what I had envisioned for this occasion.

After we had arranged five chairs around a small table, I told them about our trip. I told them how, at every step, Chance was treated with respect, dignity, and honor. I told them about the staff at Dover and all the folks at Northwest Airlines. I tried to convey how the entire nation -- from Dover to Philadelphia to Minneapolis to Billings and Riverton -- expressed grief and sympathy over their loss."

Taking Chance is available around the web including on Netflix, Amazon, and HBOgo.

I tend to agree with you that Kate didn't cook the meal or take the picture. If you look at the picture, the paper is folded up so perfectly to show the J/K. The picture looked so posed. The J/K may possibly be the logo of Katherine's business. To compare-look at this picture that Kate tweeted on Sept. 7, 2012. Big difference.

This Post is about Veterans. In your hatred of the Gosselins can you, for one day, talk about the Military. Those who have served, those who serve today and those who are trying to adjust to being back home, many with loss of limbs, loss of brain ability, unable to recognize their children, their husbands, wives.

Why can't you post a web site where you can all help with those home made cookies, the left over candy from Halloween that can be put in a box and sent to a soldier, us APO, San Francisco, CA or the Navy, Marines, use FPO, San Franciso, CA or a base name like Outpost Keating in Afganistan. Look it all up if you want to do something. There are lists of what is needed, can be used.

Just one day, or 12 hrs talk about the Military, the cadets at every Military college. Do something for someone in uniform, PLEASE, PLEASE.
A newspaper from your area, a magazine, paperback book, crossword puzzles, suduko. Occupy their minds when they are not standing guard for us.

Kate tweeted dinner with friends and showed the picture of the full plate. Exactly one hour later she said everything was quiet and she was settling down with a book. Her friends surely did not stay long for their visit. I know when I have friends over we always sit at the table drinking wine, talking and laughing. Then end up with coffee and dessert, all this could easily take 2-3 hours. I think the children are not there, they're with Jon and the other person (her visitors) was Steve.

Maybe the J/K signifies that it was a doggie bag from F&O and the prep was taking it out of the freezer. A lot of people still refer to her as J/K mainly because she can't make a public statement without including him and the 8. Why was she the only one to get a nice plate. The other plate is empty and appears to be plastic. The one on the other side just looks like a gob of paper wadded up on it. It is amazing that someone lies to such an extent and depth that one literally cannot believe a word that she says. I hate when she professes her love for her kids and pats herself on the back like that last tweet. From her journal that appears to be her MO when she has been particularly cruel to them. I can't imagine going through life having to publicly reassure one's self that she does indeed love her kids and that they force her to be mean to them by their actions and "homemade" food makes it all better. In my book anything made at home is in fact home made.

We've talked about the military tons and tons of people here have done a lot to help people in uniform. But this is a Gosselin blog not a military blog. That's not my niche but there are tons of resources out there where you ca talk about the military all day every day all year. Type in google and have at it. This isn't the one stop shop for EVERYTHING on the internet for heaven sake and I don't like the implication that because something isn't discussed all the time here, it's not being discussed elsewhere.

I wouldn't put it past Kate to put those initials on there herself, just to get everyone talking about it.

Tweetle--I also think that one of her guests was Deanna, and that she picked up dinner on the way to Kate's house. It's been awhile since Kate's been to NYC, and she probably was craving her fish in paper. Her tweet only said "Kate's fish", which means it was what she was eating, not that she made it. Kate's dinner prep was probably the side of rice.

She sounds like an idiot.

Also what about those moms who work and have to send their kids off to school with lunch money instead, or something quick like lunchables or a frozen burrito. There's this weird undertone with her that homemade means you love your kids "more" and yet I don't think she understands how it comes across whatsoever to the real working moms lobby.

Also I didn't realize throwing a yogurt and crunchy things and a sandwich into a lunchbox deserves the label homemade.

The holiday was yesterday. According to the calendar the school is in session. I think it's a shame schools aren't taking off a day for Veteran's Day but this isn't unusual. I even saw they have Wednesday off before Thanksgiving. Why not swap that day out and take Veteran's Day instead?

Parents are usually busy anyway with work and/or Thanksgiving prep on Wednesday and having young kids out of school can be more of a burden than a help.

Dear Pathetic, pathetic Kate, that you think it's more important to try and convince a bunch of strangers that you really DO love your children (i.e. fake hugs and X's), then to actually SPEND time with them, really loving them, and making sure they become happy compassionate loving people, just WOW.

BUT, You can't FORCE compassion...it comes from the heart. So I guess, that's another thing Jon will have teach them.... (all you seem to be able to teach is how to be a neurotic demanding bimbo).

No one else to blame either. You have created yourself. You have created your life. So if you are now lonely, and miserable, guess who's fault that is?? HINT: NOOOOO, it's not Jon's fault. He is just another of your victims. You tried to make him as miserable as you always are but, he won. He got away. AND his kids LOVE him.

Quit playing the barbie doll, quit going after married men, sell the big house, get off of TV, get therapy before you completely destroy your boys...and maybe you can begin making amends.

Dear Kate, one more thing, quit with the platitudes. They are meaningless. You are so unoriginal.

Wiki:
A platitude is a trite, meaningless, biased, or prosaic statement, often presented as if it were significant and original. The word derives from plat, the French word for "flat." Whether any given statement is considered to have meaning is highly subjective, so platitude is often—but not always—used as a pejorative term to describe seemingly profound statements that a certain person views as unoriginal or shallow. Examples of statements which could be considered platitudes could be "The power of friendship", "Go with the flow", "Everything happens for a reason", "It is what it is!", "If it's meant to be, it's meant to be", and "We need to do what we can do."

It's new to Kate I guess? I've been doing the steam bags (though I usually use foil, less chance of a mess, more secure) since I first learned to cook. Jamie Oliver taught me--via TV that is!

I don't do them as much anymore but they are a good single girl or guy thing or when you are home alone for the evening. You can prepare them in advance and stick them in the fridge then just pop in the oven when you are ready to eat. This is good for leaving behind for hapless husbands to make sure they don't eat PB and J instead. I like how you can make each batch taste however you want--adding lemon, garlic, maybe some wine, or making it spicy, or adding a bunch of herbs. Whatever you fancy that night.

If Kate had actually made that plate of food herself she would have said so at least ten times. When has she ever passed up a chance to brag about anything she's done? Not only that but she never refers to herself in third person. Even Gladys Kravitz said it was a fig and olive type dinner, but didn't question if Kate had prepared it all by herself. She knows her Katie well enough to not question her on certain things or she'll get ignored.

Yea, but we mere minions are doing it on our own..sniff. Kate has HELP and lots of it. For all we know, the help rounds up the kids, does the hair. Kate's idea of breakfast (gee, haven't seen a supermomof8 breakfast pic lately!) is probably throwing 8 bowls and spoons on the table the night before. While the help gets the kids rounded up and into the van, Kate sits on her leather couch tweeting.

As far as everyone wanting her to downsize...that would not fly with Kate! She'd blame the kids for it, and the abuse would continue. She needs to stay away from those kids as much as possible. At least they are old enough they can hit back. They have been treated as a pack all their life, and hopefully that pack mentality will rear its ugly head and put Kate in check.

Her dinner last night? nah, she didn't make that. She only knows how to make slop. That's an idea! She could work for big brother and make slop!

Regarding the separate posts issue, in thinking on this more, I remembered I have tried to do separate posts before, it was a long time ago I believe during the series when there would be an episode discussion thread but another thread for Kate doing something up to no good.

Too many people get confused, people don't follow directions, people don't use the posts for what they are supposed to be used for. I even have to tell people when there is a new post and bring you all on over together. I can't imagine trying to get people organized into more than two posts, the blog has just become too big at that. Sort of like trying to shout at a room of 300 people where to go without a mic, doesn't work! The problem is blogs in this format are not set up to make multiple posts something easy to navigate. I'm sure there is a way to put them side by side, however that would take up a lot of space.

If the majority of posters here showed they could toggle back and forth between multiple posts with ease, I would do it but that's not the case--even I myself prefer not to have to read more than one post. I'd rather just be in one, and if there are many different things being discussed I can scroll by the ones I'm not interested in. This is a blog, not a forum.

Sadly, I think in her twisted head she actually thinks she "won" her little twitter war with Liz, the one that she started all by her little self instead of picking up the phone and dealing with the issue like an adult.

I also think she is still on a high from her big break back into TV. She actually thinks this was a great stepping stone.

Why are they going to school on a national holiday? I bet Kate forgot its a holiday and just left them stranded in the parking lot.

&&&

********************

You are not an educator. Many schools close the day before Thanksgiving because absenteeism is high as many families travel the day before the holiday.

I wonder about Kate needed her love for kids validated externally. My ex was somewhat similar w/his kid. He couldn't ever do anything with her alone, like go to the beach, or Disneyland, or bowling. He always- and I mean ALWAYS, had to have other people come along and - his words- 'enjoy her company'. Why couldn't he enjoy her company, alone- dad and daughter? Why can't Kate just love her kids w/o getting attention for it? What is with this external validation? I dont get it.

I thought the dinner looked good- I think the sheeple weren't asking for the recipe because it was too far from their regular fare of twinkies, tv dinners and take out fast food :)

Whoa, why the condescending, You are not an educator?? So being an educator makes you an expert on what days off to select? LOL.

I guess it's a matter of picking a travel day off versus picking a day for children to understand and honor veterans. There is value in BOTH days. Some schools do it some day the others another. I'm not sure what being an educator has to do with it whatsoever.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

On Friday she tweeted about 'car service' glogging up her driveway, which could mean she had hired a car and driver to take her to NYC to get her hair done. After the outrage over her HAPPYHAPPINESS that the salon was back open after the storm, she probably decided not to tweet that she was going for her hair Friday. She may have picked up the meal when she was there Friday.

Or Katherine put the initials on the paper to indicate it was specifically Kate's fish bundle, prepared to HER 'masterminding'. Maybe the "J" was a guest, who ordered her's the same as Kate's? If Kate made that herself, which she 100% did not, why would she be writing on the paper? She wouldnt, besides she has 13 year old little girly handwriting.

Her tweet about 'dinner prep' meant barking orders at someone, or taking a shower, or whatever. Not chopping vegetables and cleaning fresh fish.

Narcissists have a hard time understanding true love and affection, however, what they do see on the movies and TV is a lot of hugging and kissing. So monkey see monkey do, they imitate what they see and perceive "love" to be, and then call this "love."

I think the best description of love is actually from the Bible, the famous "love is patient, love is kind" verse: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.

No where does it mention, love is hugs and kisses. Does Kate comprehend love on this level? I haven't really seen evidence of that at all.

Jane said...

Of course Kate didn't make that paper fish dish. If she'd own up to it, give credit to the chef who did make it and mention that it was a special occasion dinner, she'd score points with fans and non-fans alike. NYC and suburban schools are closed today. We've also been told that because we were in a state of emergency, the missed days don't have to be made up. There are still over 125,000 without power and many schools remain closed.

Closed for a Reason I have no idea why you are so angry and bitter or why you are picking a fight over something so silly. None.

Not sure where you live but it's lovely if a school wants to give lots of days off for Thanksgiving trips and it's lovely if families can take them, but that's not the reality for most people. Many families will be lucky to afford to travel two hours to Grandma's this year. Schools may be out of touch a bit there.

There are more than one opinion about what holidays are best to take off, there is no "right" answer, as evidenced by schools choosing to take Veteran's Day. What makes you anymore of an expert about what holidays are best to take off than the experts at a school that DID choose to take Veteran's day off? I'm confused. Not to mention, what is right for the demographic at your school may not be right at all for another, so.

Silimom said...

I was an educator (K/1 teacher) before staying home with my kids and I can say that different schools, private or public, do it different ways. At the public level it seems to have more to do with the compromises between the teacher's union and the district and what the teachers want.

For example, in my sister's district, they always take the day after Halloween off instead of Veterans Day. In mine, we get Veteran's Day. Also, she works the day before Thanksgiving but in our district it's a half day.

There really is no rhyme or reason.

Sillimom are you an expert? :) What a silly fight that Closed has picked. Since every school does it differently it's rather arrogant to suggest she knows best. Butterfly, I would think being the parent of your child makes you an "expert" on what days are best to take off, but who am I to say who is an expert.

I can't stand when some educators (thankfully, not most) have this arrogant "I know best for my school" attitude. I don't recall ever getting any surveys or formal polling about what I'm doing for Thanksgiving and whether the school should allow us days off and which ones. How the heck do they know who is going on vacation and how many are going? School vacation days are set usually YEARS in advance, sometimes five years or more, so I don't buy that it's really all about the current demographics because that is an evolving thing too. Decisions are just made and not everyone will be happy, that's how it goes. I appreciate teachers that are humble and open to an evolving process with lots of input from others.

Since we're speculating, here are my thoughts:

1) The J/K could be KK with one K written backwards.

2) It could stand for Kate Kreider, although I don't think Kate would ever use her maiden name again. Not only is there no name recognition with it but I think she associates that name with a whole other person and life that she'd never want to go back to.

3) What looks like a crumpled piece of paper is another fish dish. You can see a veggie sticking up.
The other plate looks empty but could have food on it.

4) Why didn't the other guests get their plates inset into a larger silver plate? I guess that's only good enough for Kate?

5) Hey, maybe Kate should go on Worst Chefs in America with Ann Burrell as her teacher. I think Ann wouldn't put up with her cr*p.

Given that all schools do holidays differently, I am still not understanding why this arrogant expert attitude comes from, since this is not a matter of right and wrong, but of opinion.

I think parents know best if it's appropriate to take their children out. As for the dig about lawyers, I can advise my client what I think is best, but the decision is ultimately up to them. I can't do what they don't want me to do. In contrast, schools do what they damn well please even if parents object.

LOL Blowing pass the tissue I got some snot on me!

I never said one darn thing about education. For Closed's information, most of my family is teachers, my mom taught special ed, my grandmother taught kindergarten, my aunt teaches English, my cousin teachers Spanish, my other cousin was teaching AP American History when he was 23 years old and directs the school musical every year (and is darn good at it), and on and on. I have the utmost respect for them and was actually hotly debating whether to get my teaching license as it seemed the most logical things to do but ultimately went another direction for various reasons, not the least of which was my mother's bad experiences with the teachers union. What days off are best for what school has nothing to do with education in math, science, English, music and the like. I don't think you need to be an educator to have an opinion on what days off are best for your child no more than you need to be a lawyer to have an opinion on the verdict of a case. When people are talking about the Diane Downs case I don't stomp around claiming you are not an expert in the law you cannot comment on your take on this! LOL, that's insane and ridiculous.

Thankfully, none of the educators in my family are as condensing as you. In fact, my grandmother was the most humble kindergarten teacher I ever met. You would be so lucky to have been in her class. Kindergarten students CAME TO HER RETIREMENT PARTY. They hadn't seen her in 20, 30, years, but they remembered what she did for them. This is the same grandmother, who, in the blizzard of 77, stayed with those four, five, and six year olds for days when they were snowed in at school. I didn't mention when I told that story how young the students were. It's commendable enough to stay with your students, but quite another thing when they are so little--they were scared, missed their moms and dads, but she got them through.

Jumping in here about the vacation days. The kids' school, as far back as I can remember, has not had a vacation day on Veteran's Day. The school is on a trimester system, with conferences held in October, and professional days usually in the middle of the month. There are days off then. There are also over-night class trips during October, which means some grades are not in school then.

With Veteran's Day at the beginning of the month, and Thanksgiving near the end, another day off just wouldn't fit into the schedule. The school, however, observes the day with events planned while it is in session. Students learn the importance of the day and celebrates it as such, honoring veterans however the teachers see appropriate to the learning experience. It's an in-school observance.

As far as Thanksgiving, the day before, and the Monday after has always been part of the vacation because many parents do go away for the holiday. It found that by having kids go back on the Monday following the holiday, because of travel plans, kids were taking off that Monday (especially if they returned late Sunday or Monday from the trip), it would work best to just allow an extra day off. All schools are different. This is the schedule that works best for that particular school.

Now for working class, blue collar families like much of America having all those days off can actually end up being a burden to parents to find childcare, since they can't afford some long Thanksgiving vacation and most workplaces only give Thursday and Friday off. So for those schools, Vets day when workplaces often do have it off makes more sense than some extended Thanksgiving vacation. Has nothing to do with being an "expert", just some simple common sense and an awareness of your demographic.

Perfect example of days off really are dependent for what works for the school and students at that time, and not everyone will always be happy. Someone will always be struggling to squeeze in a vacation, while someone else will always be struggling to find childcare, it's how it goes..

Dwindle said...

Admin - I betcha by golly wow that Closed for a Reason is off their meds again today or is a fake, trolling for a fight. Days off for school systems are negotiated as part of the contract with the teachers unions according to the needs of the demographics and also the members. Private schools often choose to be guided by the schedule of the main public system, but sometimes not. But we all know that.

I love teachers and I support the unions so this is not a slam.

Sorry Vets. You just didn't fit into the schedule. :(

Quite the contrary. If kids have off for Veteran's Day, how many of them actually take the time to reflect on what it means? Certainly, some do. But if they are in school on that day, and observances are held there, teachers discuss what the day means, and so forth, I think they're getting much more out of it than many kids who stay at home playing video games or hanging out at the mall.

I see "Closed" didnt want us talking about Kate's Friday Car Service trip or the sluething to find Katherine. Those were the two things we were working on when "Closed" showed up and bullied the conversation into some kind of nonsense.

Carla, was that you?

So which was the bigger threat to Kate, the car service to take her out of state for a fresh bleach job, or us finding more about Katherine?

meagler said...

Taking time to throw in my 2 cents:

I dont think Kate took that picture because 1. It is not her usual style. This one is from the side vs over top of, and is nicely framed with the decoration to the back, and it is placed on twitter using " instagram" which Kate typically does not use.

I do not think the kids were with her at this meal anyways, and there are only 3 place setting.

The meal is very similar to this entre' from F&O:

LEMON SOLE PAPILLOTE 29
Lemon sole filet, zucchini, eggplant
fennel, tomato, thyme, scallion, saffron
Arbequina Olive Oil

As for the lettering... not sure exactly what it means, but I do not think it was done by kate. If Kate was labeling the parchment packages so she didnt get them mixed up she would put KG or just Kate as the lettering.

My hunch, this was a takeout from Friday from F&O when the car service took her to NYC, and prepared on Sunday at home.

By that logic we shouldn't let kids off of Thanksgiving or Christmas either because they can just learn about it at school. What do they need the day off for, they'll just lounge around anyway.

I think we walk a slippery slope when holidays that used to be a day where school and work were always closed suddenly becomes just another day again.

I think the take out from Fig and Olive when she was in NYC getting her hair fried sounds reasonable. She obviously did not cook that meal nor take that picture. When you edit a photo in instagram, it immediately saves it on your phone to the folder that holds all the photos you took on your iPhone. You can then easily email or text that photo to anyone. At that point, all Kate has to do is check her email or text and from there upload it to twitter. Easy.

Admin, Sorry, but I think you are the one who escalated this discussion about days off. I didn't see Closed's statement as bitter or arrogant, merely stating a fact. An educator, by the nature of the job, is used to looking at things as it applies TO THE ENTIRE CLASSROOM, not to just one little face (or, in KK's case, 8 little faces). What works for a family unit doesn't always translate to the classroom unit. It's a teacher thing. BTW -- IMO, your attitude is one of the things wrong with today's educational system. Instead of seeing a teacher as a partner in caring for and TEACHING a child, too many make the teacher the enemy. More cooperation and less antagonism would go a long way to making our educational system better.

Tweet the photo clearly has a filter on it. In other words, if you took a photo like that under normal conditions it would look more, well, blah? The colors are brighter and really pop, there is a slight artistic grain to it and overall yellow tones. It's hard to explain since there are so many filters you can choose from.

The best way is to show you before and after Instagram photos to try to give you a sense of how to recognize an Instagram photo:

One other explanation, an iphone camera will try to take a picture of what you actually see. That is not what we actually see when we go through life. Life is not a bunch of trippy bright colors and yellow grainy tones. Instagram allows us to get artistic with what we really see to make interesting better photos.

The best way to spot an Instagram photo is to ask yourself if that's how it would really look in person.

The name of the ACT is a bit dubious, as it sounds like you are free to share information, but it means where it is personal and private, and you want to share it, you have to apply to the Act to get permission to share it. Typically anything about kids would be private and not sharable....

However, if you work for a Government Agency, they have the right to advertise your name and your wage for each year. Go figure :(

IMO: The schools may be public where any nationality or religion can attend, however, it is still a Canadian School! What country does not want to remember those people who served for their country at war??? Makes no sense...

The school board in our town approves the schedule of days off for our school district. The superintendent last year gave us the day before Thanksgiving off. That was the only time I ever remember having it off. This year we will not have it off. We always have Veteran's Day and the day after Thanksgiving off. The school year consists of 180 student days. Meaning days the students are scheduled to attend. That does not include staff development days. We have a week for Christmas, winter break and spring break that are also not included. I am a Para- Professional. I get paid for 10 holidays. They are Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, 2 days for Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, and Memorial Day. These are all submitted by the superintendent and approved by the school board. Anytime there is a change to the school calendar it has to be approved by the school board. I'm not sure if that helps answer the question of school days off. It is the way we handle it in our school district.

In the state where I live, kids must attend 174 days of school. We have to build in a few days for snow days. Then there are the teacher work days/convention to schedule around, as well the traditional Christmas/Easter/Spring breaks.

School cannot start before Labor Day. So, in order to make sure the kids don't go to school until July, most Federal holidays are school days. From the time I was in school in the 1950s until today, Armistice/Veteran's Day has never been a school holiday.

Perhaps of some interest is the fact that having certain Federal Holidays on Monday is somewhat new, established in 1971, as the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

Observant -- It was me, alright. Just got my buttons pushed. Doesn't happen that often, but sometimes the Irish in me comes out in unexpected ways.

Admin -- I'm sorry you got your feelings hurt. That was not my intent. However, I stand behind most of what I posted. After seeing more of "Closed"'s posts, I agree that the poster is most likely a troll. I got suckered in. Sorry. However, too many people blame the teachers for the failings of the school system. Yes, there are some bad ones out there -- too many, IMO. However, the prevailing attitude these days is to make the teacher the enemy instead of the partner. Most parents see their children as "special". That's a good thing, except when carried to extremes. Teachers have 20 or 30 or even more "special" children every year. The problem with today's schools isn't the fault of the teachers alone. It's the fault of the administrators, the law and the parents as well. Many parents no longer care about their child's behavior or their learning. Too many administrators have been out of the classroom too long to understand the challenges. Too much is expected of the teacher in addition to teaching. He or she is expected to be a social worker, nurse, counselor, psychologist and, in many cases, parent, in addition to actually educating the kids. The "No Child Left Behind" law leaves more kids behind every year. BTW -- the school I volunteer at (Parochial) had school today. There was a special Mass and program for the children and the classses had special lessons geared to teaching them about the importance of Veterans' Day. We are off the day before and the day after Thanksgiving. And before you ask, I worked half a day today. I come from a background of educators, too. My Grandfather taught. My Great Aunt, whom I idolized, was one of the very first special education teachers in the State of Ohio. My father was a teacher. He taught post-secondary, and, by nature of the school, a number of his students were veterans attending under the GI Bill, or were sent by Vocational Rehab because of handicaps. I can remember my father, who was not, by nature, a patient person, spending hours on the phone with a hopelessly confused student, patiently explaining the lesson. I still had absolutely NO concept of what it was like to be a teacher until I walked into my first classroom, saw that sea of little faces, realized that these little souls were mine for the next 7 or so hours, and understood that I was responsible for their safety and their welfare and their learning.

Sorry for the long post. I'll get off my soapbox now. As I said at the beginning, got my buttons pushed, big time! Again, I didn't intend to hurt your feelings Admin. Sorry.

I never blamed teachers for failings of the system or even MENTIONED failings of the system or even teachers. I have no idea why in the world this is equated to, parents think their kids are special. Huh? Parents who want their children to observe and respect veterans day don't want their kids to be special, they just want their kids to grow up observing and respecting veterans day, it's as simple as that. I also never said teachers were the enemy or even remotely implied that. I just said it was a shame some schools dont' take off for Veterans Day. I never even assumed teachers were largely responsible for that decision in the first place. Probably depends on the school who has a say. My understanding is usually your average English or science teacher isn't going to have any say at all, other than what their union tells them is their position. My mother and grandmother were certainly never consulted about administrative policies. Those schools followed schedules that had been in place for decades.

"Everything that is wrong with the educational system" is WAY harsh and WAY out of line. SERIOUSLY??? Differing opinions on education are exactly what is RIGHT about our education system. I would expect teachers of all people to encourage debate and discussion. That's how we learn and evolve. I don't think someone who thinks they should go to school today is anti American or a bad mom or teacher, it's simply a different opinion on the best school schedule for kids. Nor is the other side a slam at teachers whatsoever.

It's ludicrous of her to continue to try to shut people up so the truth can't get out there. She doesn't understand there are only a few sheeple left who believe her lies. She's just wasting her kids money fighting off all these bad blogs and bad books.

Give it up why doncha Kate. The cat is out of the bag. You're a lying, coniving bully.
