Redemption

Dancing With the Stars' Tony Dovolani won the biggest prize of them all last night with his partner Melissa Rycroft. When asked on Jimmy Kimmel about Kate Gosselin, he said: "She's a sweetheart. I'm sure she voted for us." Kate tweeted her congratulations late today.

I don't see how trading places with Hef's old porn star girlfriend , and having her look after the kids on camera, for a new pilot, is raising them out of the spotlight.

It fulfills all your criteria- the kids are on tv, they are earning their own paycheck, and, um, honestly, somehow they could make it all about you.

Speaking of interviews with the kids I remember on that ask Kate episode Kate said the kids want her to date they want a new guy around. But when interviewed on the couch most of the kids said actually we don't want her to date we want things just as they are. It's all on film and in the recap. After that I never believed a single thing out of her mouth about how the kids really think and feel. She lost all credibility. What did she think, that they wouldn't ask the kids??

It's because all those "projects" are all in her mind.

Well I think I'm the one that pointed that out and I don't consider myself to be the "Katie Irene police". She's often said that English was her best subject and she is a published "author" and as such I'd assume that she knows that *there're* is not an actual word. When I saw her tweet that just stood out to me and I found it funny.

I did some surfing looking at various photos of the kids. It struck me that the photos I saw the Gosselin children were separate from other kids. All their lives they've had cameras in their faces, gone on trips, yada, yada, yada. They are different than their peers. Not just their there are six of them, but because they didn't interact with other children (probably until they went to school). Instead they mostly had adults in their lives. Okay, they did play with Aunt Jodi's kids...for a while.

The way the kids have been raised so far, their expectations of adults are scewed. Adults fetched, played, did whatever they needed to do to make the kids camera ready. Got the make money for Mommy you know. In real life adults don't do that.

They are growing up knowing they are different and expect adults to do something for them.

On the otherhand the McCaughney kids were raised out of the limelight and seem well adjusted. The documentary I saw were children doing homework, their chores, participating in sports, behaving. You know, normal kids.

The Gosselin kids have potential to be normal, but have been (are?) being raised in abnormal environment. This is a very sad saga.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.

So this struggling mom who saves money baking her own bread and slicing her own meat thinks she deserves to flit off across the country to party whenever she feels like it. What this tw*t doesn't understand is that we have all concluded that scrimping on the kids means she can blow off to Vegas to have some fun. Does she think we haven't put two and two together yet? You don't bake bread and slice meat and cry poor and then live like a rockstar when you have a custody-free weekend. Most of us run marathons locally and do the odd out of state/province marathon occasionally if at all. Not this rich bitch. Going to Vegas on a Friday night is party time for Kate. Has to get away from that stressful life she engineered. I loathe this woman more than ever. She is truly despicable to the core.

Plastimobile - The toyota pickup is 20. The Mazda is 12. I use to have a 626 many moons ago - see great minds think alike :) (I also had a GLC and a Miser...Mazda's have been good to us). Keep in mind we are the people that had a AMC Gremlin. 2 of them. Brag. In fairness, my 12 year old Mazda Protoge has a whopping 30,452 miles on it. So it's kinda like new. We keep hoping somebody will steal the pickup. Even Goodwill doesn't want it. When it runs it's good for hauling yard waste to the dump, bulk mulch, moving deck furniture back and forth from storage. It's like family. But without a soul and DNA. Because it's a thing.

@frkofnatr omg! did you check out @kateplusmy8 's use of really really really? Complete BEGGING! 8 yr olds want iPads? Tell them NO!!!

Did Kate say the kids want iPods or iPads? There's a huge difference in cost. An iPod shuffle is fifty dollars or less. An Apple iPad is pricy.

I miss Stephanie. She was so close, and yet so far.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

She said ipods. The new ipods (the ipod touch) really aren't that much cheaper than an average ipad actually. They START at $299 and if you want any decent amount of space for storing music you're paying 399. Ipads start at 499.

You can get a smaller nano or mini for 150 bucks or under. But that's not what she said. She said ipod. That implies the real thing, not the smaller ones. But like I said if she gets her lazy butt on amazon she could get all eight of them an older addition of the ipad for pennies. I just saw an old version of the ipod shuffle for 18 bucks. That should satisfy a kid.

In any case I don't care what she wants to buy her kids, I just find it despicable the way she made them seem so spoiled, out of touch, and greedy. I hate how she portrays them in such a bad light. They are not bad kids as far as I can tell. In fact they seem like very down to earth kids who are content to go get frozen yogurt and cuddle with the family dog, rather than obsessed with overpriced electronics and lengthy Christmas lists.

I do sincerely hope they are not leaving it up to these poor kids where they want to spend their holiday. They are far too young for such pressures. Most adults realize the pressure, guilt and confusion such a big decision on their shoulders creates is detrimental to their emotional health. I urge Kate and Jon not to put such adult decisions on their kids and just follow their regular holiday schedule whatever it is.

Re: Kate's "articles" today

1) Apparently she no longer merits a US or People cover. Not even a radio show. Forget a talk show. Nope. She is reduced to giving interviews to Yahoo. Wow. If it were me, I'd take that as some sort of a sign. In any case, this is small potatoes and I wouldn't pay it much mind. Treat it for what it is - a has been, washed out and washed up former reality celebrity giving an interview to an online entertainment gossip site in an effort to stay relevant.

You know, when Jon came out of "retirement" in March after the contract was up, he at least merited several US magazine articles and a People cover.

Chew on that Kate.

2) As has been pointed out, what Kate says the kids want and what the kids are saying they want are usually two different things. However, I'm going to abstain from speculating on this because frankly it's none of my business where the kids are for the holidays. This is something Jon and Kate need to come to an agreement on. I trust that they will.

3) She isn't saying anything concrete about her new show because it hasn't been picked up yet. It will surprise me if it is.

4) I doubt the kids are jumping up and down begging her to film, however I think they realize that Mom is happier when she's filming which makes their lives easier. Mom focuses on her show and she leaves the raising of the kids to the nannies and Dad.

5) Not sure if the kids will be able to be filmed (It's been a year and I think Jon could make a case with the court that not being filmed has been beneficial to their overall quality of life, i.e. doing better at school, etc.) and even if they are it will be much different than it was when she had (Jon &) Kate+8. At least there are better provisions in place - set teacher, money set aside for kids in their own accounts that parents can't touch, etc.

Then how about giving Jon a copy of those videos? I bet he'd love to see all those fun times you so pointedly exclude him from. And don't they already have a video camera? She mentions M&C "making movies" frequently. Of course, doing something like that would mean actually thinking about someone else for a change. So my guess is it's not gonna happen.

Still shaking my head in disbelief over the Yahoo article. I really think no one actually ever interviews her, she and JCM conjure up a glowing puff piece and submit it for someone to pick up. Actually, 9 out of 10 puff pieces surveyed think that that drivel gives puff pieces a bad name.

She doth protest too much. The kids want to be with meeeeee, the kids have a voice now and waaaaant to film, single mother Kate does much of the child raising herselllllllllllf. As far as the kids having a voice now, yes, she is correct. However, they are not using their newfound voices to screech that they want to be filmed again. They are using those voices to tell responsible people about the lies their mother demands they keep. And about treatment they know is not ok.

The purpose of this article was to fish for donations of high end gifts for her kids. Don't want to pay for a 5,000 sq. foot beach house? Publicly whine and cry about not being able to afford to take your kids on vacation. Kids want ipods for Christmas? Find someone to interview you and make sure you get that in there. I just can't say this enough, it is unconscionable that this woman would accept a penny of free gifts for her children who attend an extremely expensive private school and live in a mansion. There are laws about this, but Kate manages to skirt them with her subtle-as-a lead balloon hint dropping, then her "who am I to say no?" response when the desired goodies drop in her lap. Toys for Tots? Putting the unwanted gifts from your sheeple in a Toys for Tots box doesn't cut it, Kate. Your fans who have very little money to spend are buying gifts and paying for shipping all so you can drop it in a box? Still a waste of time & money, still NOT ok.

Who are you, Kate? A cheat. A liar. A disgusting excuse for a human. A child abuser. A cindictive vunt. A user. An ungrateful opportunist. I could go on & on but those are the first couple which come to mind.

Not sure if you can answer this, Lilly. I want to buy a new computer but don't want Windows 8. However I can't find anything new without Windows 8 these days. Why is it being forced down our throats? I've heard nothing but bad things about it so far.

It's interesting Kate mentions the kids wanting the more expensive electronic stuff that she is seeming to balk at buying while SHE herself owns a ipod, bose earplugs and $150-200 'running' shoes. If she is capable of owning these things then do the same for the kids. While I don't beleive they really put ipods on their xmas lists---and this is the first time I have heard of them making their own lists and giving to Kate---the ipods won't really improve the quality of their lives overall. Even my 8 years old nephew wouldn't have cared for one. Its her way of getting someone to pick up her xmas shopping bill. So very stuble way to fool someone. It sounds like begging to me.

All I'll say is that it is nice that they donate to Toys for Tots. For all I don't like about her (which is a lot), I can acknowledge when she actually does a nice thing. Maybe it is reg(r)ifts from the sheeple that she donates, I don't know, but at least less fortunte kids will get some great toys. Seriously, it is nice to see her give back occassionally. (Of course, she said her kids can't believe that some other children "don't have a Christmas" - so having a Christmas is only defined by being rich and getting a lot of material items?)

Now if only she can work on her narcissism, child exploiting ways, laziness, bitterness toward Jon and obsessive parental alienation ...

The shameless act of begging for gifts by the gestational carrier of the Gosselin children is reprehensible! Of course she does not come right out and say it—but we all know why she publicizes their gift list. Oh, and the Toys for Tots thing that suddenly came up seems to have a connection with a LV event—admission to it asks for a contribution for the TFT charity. How convenient, don’t you think? Sorry if I sound so jaded, but for a woman who traded her children and husband for a Hollywood dream of stardom that will continue to be evasive, has the ring of a modern Greek tragedy. It truly is so sad. As a Christian, I struggle with my contempt for this woman, while trying to pray that she somehow finds her way. I still believe in a God of miracles…it could happen if there truly was a belief in the Bible since there were verses posted during those early years. Kate Gosselin, if you are reading this, remember “a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise” (Psalm 51:17).

They have video of it so I bet they are "remembering" the video but I highly doubt they remember the actual events other than the last season or so and even then it's not going to be much.

Think about it, how many things do you really remember from kindergarten? Most people will say well I remember when my little brother was born, and I remember my kindergarten teacher, and I remember the first day in class. But beyond that you don't have the kind of strong detailed memories that develop as your brain does.

It was not about the memories. It was about the other M word, the money.

I vote for girl crush. No mother slobbers over a daughter's gorgeous, sexy legs, or has a fixation on her child's grow-a-boyfriend, or walking hand in hand into the sunset (as Milo wrote awhile back), or having dinner waiting for her when she got home at the end of the day. This is an adult thing that goes beyond creepy.

If I were Kate, this fixation on me would scare me to death and I'd avoid it the only way I knew how, which would be throwing her a few bones now and then to keep her happy, until all she would get would be crumbs, and then nothing.

Then lock your doors, hope and pray that he/she/it doesn't show up at the gate. Seriously, though, this "relationship" has disaster written all over it, and I really hope that nothing horrible happens.

It's that "tracking" thing that would scare the you-know-what out of me. Isn't this how dangerous internet stalkers work? They start out as fans, get closer to the celebrity in whatever way they can, set themselves up to be buddies, convince themselves (and others) that they are closer than close, and then what? Nothing good can come from this.

At first I thought it was funny, and now I think it's anything but that. She is in love with Kate, and rather than Milo giving Kate a 9 a.m. courtesy call, someone needs to give Kate a wake-up call and lay it on the table as to what can really happen when a fan's obsession turns deadly.

I still can't get my head around the fact that Kate is making it public news, that the kids want to be with her for their Christmas break.

Something tells me, Jon was nowhere near the kids when the discussion took place. I see it going something like this...

Kate: "H, honey? Would you rather spend a gift-filled holiday weekend here with Mommy, or go to your Dad's? We will be having FUN, FUN, FUN here! Candy, and super surprises!"

H: "Sure, okat Mommy I'll stay here!"

Kate: "L, honey? I'll bet you want to spend X-mas with your sister-girl *Hxxxy*, right sweetie? You two are inseparable!"

Perhaps the remaining half dozen, suddenly fell into line- with Kate's 'evil holiday vacation time' plan.

Way to alienate the kids from their father, and publishing articles in support of this behavior is sick.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Another thing parental alienators do is guilt trip. Mommy will be so so sad without you. You dont want to leave mommy along on xmas do you? Whereas the healthy parent who doesnt guilt trip and is supportive loses.

Jumping In said...

Kate continues to lump her children in to units. Do ALL 6 of her children want iPods for Christmas? It just strikes me as odd that there is never any of their individuality expressed by their mother. It is the height of laziness on her part to continually refer to them in two, distinct groups. Six of them want this, the other two want that!

"We don't do Santa" There is no magic in their household is there? The only magic for Kate was when a television show turned her into a TV reality star. No Santa, just a pre-Christmas talk with them about expenses just before she jets off to Vegas for a completely gratuitous weekend.

She is despicable.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Jumping In, I agree with you about gifts for the kids. I do not believe for a minute that all 6 tups want the same exact thing, and that both of the twins want the same exact thing. Kate has been too lazy to actually get to know her 8 INDIVIDUAL children, to know their likes, dislikes; their talents and interests. She treats them as 2 groups because it's easier for her to handle; to hell with what the kids actually are like or want.

I don't mean to bring up my grandsons again (okay, yes I do!), but we know their individual interests. We brought them Thanksgiving puzzle pages when we saw them last week. We know that the older one is now into hidden picture games and the younger one is into mazes. So they each received in their packets the pages that interested them and that they like.

Kate does what is easiest for her because she is lazy and doesn't have to spend the time then to look for individual gifts; she go with the group gifts as a good old standby. Otherwise, she would be too exhausted!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Kate literally describes these kids as if they were one person split into six bodies. I have no CLUE what their personalities are or individual interests are, none. That said, it's none of my business and I'm not saying I would want her to talk about that, I'm just saying when she does talk about these kids it's bizarre and unhealthy the way they are like one person. They all like the same things, say the same things, want to be at the same places at the same time, eat the same things, there is never any disagreement. It's just not credible.

I have at least three sets of twins in my life in some form and everyone is always talking about how different they are from each other, not how alike they are.

Oh another reason why letting kids this young decide where to go for the holidays--pack mentality. If the majority of the group wants to be somewhere, and maybe only two or three want to be somewhere else, those two or three may feel shy and uncomfortable expressing disagreement since the vocal majority wants to do something. This goes both ways. It's not a good idea for EITHER parent to put it on their shoulders what they want.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

As far as Kate supposedly letting the kids decide where to spend the holidays, I don't believe her because she is such a liar. If the kids chose Jon, she would never admit it anyway; she always tries to portray herself as the supreme mother whose kids never want to leave her and that's just not true because we know how much the kids love Jon. They have shown that over and over again in pictures with him vs pictures with Kate.

Also, Kate is an idiot to always publicize where these kids will be at givin times. Because they are so well known, it's just not smart. I publicized that I was going to spend Thanksgiving with my grandsons, but no one knows what I look like, where I live, what they look like, or where they live. Her lack of common sense for the safety of those kids just astounds me.

Here's a pic of the expo. Looks like lots of freebies to be had. She must be doing a happy dance. Would it kill her to check in with her supportive and loyal fans? Oh right, she's having too much fun getting free shit to bother.

AuntieAnn said...

We should expect nothing else from a woman who has the mentality of a 12-year-old to say the kids choose to be with her, when there is video tape of a BBB full of kids screaming and crying that they don't want to go home. They want to stay with their dad.

She's just so freaking jealous of Jon because he's found happiness and she is stuck in a place she hates. She has no one to lean on but that dipstick Steve and a few pathetic fans and tweeties. She is seething with jealousy of Jon and it's shows more and more with each lousy interview she gives.

AuntieAnn said...

it shows, not it's shows. geez proofread much?

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Auntie Ann, I agree that Kate is not only jealous of Jon, but she is still angry with him for her "perception" of what he took from her when he wanted to stop the show. She is so bitter over that she will never forgive him, and will keep throwing him under the bus every chance she gets.

In my opinion, Kate blames Jon for all of her problems (as others have said as well), and that if he would have just continued to play along, in her warped mind, the gravy train could have gone on until the tups were 18. Now we all know that that's not realistic, but we also know that Kate is extremely delusional.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Picking a fight with Jon's girlfriend in such a public manner shows just how jealous she is. So jealous she can't even pause and realize making this public is a bad, bad idea.

I think what pisses her off is that the courts won't let Kate cut Jon off. She LOVES to cut people off when they are of no use to her. Jon is the one person she legally cannot do that to, and it drives her crazy. She is a control freak and can't control him or his access to the kids and it drives her batty.

They won't let you, Kate, and they won't let Halle Berry either. Deal with it.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Great point, Admin! She can't cut Jon off, but we all know she would love to. She even made that comment once in an interview, I think, stating that since he sees the kids so rarely, he shouldn't have any say about decisions with them. I'm paraphrasing because I don't remember the exact quote. But it was clear that she was PO'd because Jon's opinion counted. She is so immature and has always seen them as her kids alone.

AuntieAnn said...

Halle put her house up for sale, I wonder when Kate is going to do the same. I can't see her hanging on that place much longer if she can't find a job, not even a mediocre one.

I know judges who would strip HER of custody for this crap she does, give full custody to Jon and her monitored visits with orders to do licensed therapy, anger management, domestic violence for perpetrators, and a 52 week probation approved parenting class before you ever come back wanting anything to change. Done.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Did she? I heard through the grapevine that when the authorities have gone over to her house she is always super paranoid asking if they have seen any paparazzi. Everyone has said to her.....um, why don't you put a gate up? Then you won't have to peek out from your windows so much like a crazy person.

But the thing is she LOVES it, she doesn't want a gate up. She wants them out there.

Dwindle said...

Making an 8 year old choose between their parents is horrible. Horrible. And then she draws the line in the sand with Jon by going public with her slant on it all. She is daring him to speak out so she can have a tabloid war again. She must miss it so much.

I agree with Admin, that she is shocked and livid that she cant legally control Jon's access to his children.

Well, Kate, you get what you get and you dont get upset.

AuntieAnn said...

It's amazing how long Kate has dodged the bullet. Does she go to court with her hair pulled back in a bun, no makeup, clothed in some conservative suit and cry her eyes out in front of the judge?

Dwindle said...

I have been kind of looking for that drive by sheeple who plods in here from time to time, the one who has a pathological hatred of Liz, who insists that Jon doesnt want to be with the children, that there is some secret 'truth' somewhere; oh yeah, the one who insisted that Kate was scheduled to have the kids for Thanksgiving.

AuntieAnn said...

She wants the paps to go away, but she doesn't want them to go away too far, is that it? Why, because then she'd have nothing to bitch about? She wants to have her cake and eat it too.

Kate and Halle are both frighteningly narcissistic.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

In my opinion, it's not so much that Kate can't find a job; it's that she won't even attempt to look for one. I know people that can't find jobs, but they try hard and apply for everything available.

Kate won't do that. In her mind, she only wants a job on TV and she feels she deserves it. She is a very POOR example for her kids about how to do what it takes to survive. At one time, she said she would take a job at McDonalds to support her kids. Well, Kate, what happened to that? That may be your only choice because I don't know of anyone who would want you as a nurse.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I think she loves this idea of being swarmed by paps while having to cover her face. Makes her feel important and wanted. She loves the drama of, "oh the paps oh the paps hide!". Whereas most people if they got that much attention would make sure they were living in a manner in which the paps could not see anything so they wouldn't put themselves in that situation in the first place.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

As many have commented before, Kate pretends to hate the paps, but she actually loves it.

I remember during the divorce and she would complain about the paps. Yet, she has 22 acres and chose to sit with the kids while they played, in front of the garage. She had the table out there for them to do homework; they always played out in front, she knew the paps were there, yet continued to do this. With 22 acres, most of it that the paps couldn't see, Kate could have definitely stayed out of the public eye IF she really wanted to. The truth is, she loves it.

Admin -- Kate + 8 IS on Netflix streaming, at least, the first 10 episodes are. It's listed as Season 6 of Jon & Kate + 8 (Bet that really frosts her butt, LOL).

The Chiefs player who killed his GF and self is Jovan Belcher, a very good starting linebacker. The AP article said he and GF had been arguing. It also said that his mother was living with them, so at least GMa is there to care for the orphaned 3 mo. old. I just don't understand how someone could do something like this. So you're arguing with your SO. So what. People argue. People break up. You shoot her multiple times then go and shoot yourself, leaving your helpless 3 mo. old to grow up an orphan? From the sound of the article I read, it looks like they're going to try to make this the result of head injuries he suffered playing football. IMO, the head injury thing is serious, but it's becoming everyone's excuse for not taking responsibility and not trying to work on problems and solve them. Oh, I went out, got drunk and slapped my wife around. It's because I had a concussion!Sheesh!! Pretty soon it's going to become a cliche and people are going to stop taking the very real damage seriously. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry.

Did anyone else notice how KK contradicted herself in that article? She says they don't do Santa, then says the kids enjoy playing Santa for less fortunate kids. So which is it, Kate? You don't do Santa or the kids like to play Santa?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

They're not using concussions as an excuse. They're using it to point out that they may alter your brain chemistry and composition and trigger behavior that is destructive. The autopsies are frightening, it's really quite undeniable. I love the new helmet rule in football. You have to stop playing the second you lose your helmet. If you don't you get a penalty.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

readerlady, I don't know all of the details, but I agree with you. Today, it seems that so many people who do bad things try to use an excuse for it so they don't have to take responsibility. I was upset, I had a bad childhood, my parents didn't love me, the boss has it in for me, I needed a drink to relax, the drugs made me do it, etc, etc, etc.

I know that these are very real feelings that can cause pain, but people have dealt with these issues forever. It is not an excuse to commit murder. What has happened that people and defense attorneys, think that these reasons are acceptable exuses for what their clients have done.

Okay, Admin, I'm sure I opened up a can of worms with you, but I'm ready for it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

LovemyGrandsons there is a difference between excuse and explanation. I haven't heard a single person excusing people who have had repeated concussions from doing bad things. I have heard some very clear links between repeated concussions and bad behaviors, with actual autopsies and brain scans to back up the science. It's not pie in the sky stuff, it's real.

We need to do something to better protect both kids and adults from sports injuries, and we are. Slowly, anyway. Better equipment, better rules, better education, better medical attention.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Admin, I understand what you are saying, but my question is why didn't these things happen back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's? It seems like it's just been the last decade or so where you are hearing about all of these overpaid sports players doing the unthinkable in their private life.

I don't know, does it have something to do with the outrageous salaries nowadays, the instant celebrity, the feeding into their own press? I don't know, but I just know that when we were growing up, it seems that sports players were held to higher standards, possibly because they were so high profile. Yet, there weren't things like this happening.

Maybe I'm naive or just dense, but when you get into football, you have to expect to be hit and tackled. Was this player actually hit after his helmet came off? If so, that should be illegal.

Extreme acts have always been rare. However depression and other altered states of mind has been happening to these players forever, we just understand it better now. It HAS been going on for decades and decades, we just understand what is happening now. Also football has gotten more aggressive and violent in recent years, and there is a lot more pressure to get right back out there and keep playing even if you are dizzy or hurt.

I don't even know that this linebacker had any significant concussions. He may not have. It could just be a random act of violence. Murder-suicides unfortunately happen whether you play football or not.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

This may shed some light:

"Football has changed a great deal (since the late 1980s)," Robert Cantu, study author and co-director of the Sports Legacy Institute, told USA Today. "The players are bigger and the game is faster now compared to then. It wouldn't surprise me if the problem isn't worse in the modern era. Also it wasn't common in that earlier era for players to start as a kid . The modern generation is starting younger so they've had longer exposure to brain trauma."

readerlady said...

Admin -- I agree that there is very real damage done to the brain from concussions. Not only to the brain chemistry, but to the actual structure of the brain. It is a very serious problem It just seems to me that instead of working on behavior issues and problems, some people are jumping on that bandwagon and trying to use that to justify bad behavior. I like the rule changes, too, particularly the one about helmet to helmet hits, although sometimes I think the refs get a little over-zealous on calling that one. I've seen a few replays where it clearly was accidental. I also think more research needs to be done to find better helmets, not just for football but for all sports. Even baseball and basketball players get concussions. I've also never understood parents who refuse to insist on their kids wearing helmets when the skateboard, ride bikes, or rollerblade. "Personal freedom" is all well and good, but let's use a little common sense here, people! Sorry, looks like I climbed back up on that soapbox again, LOL.

I agree, Admin, that football is getting more agressive. In my opinion, because of the huge salaries, players may be pushed to go out and earn that paycheck, even when they are hurt. It's sad that money seems to be the driving force in everything, even sports. That's just my opinion.

However, when adults get hurt, they have to take responsibility to get the medical/phsychlogical care they need, especially sports players who have an abundance of money to pay for it.

I work with a woman whose husband is having phsycolocial issues, and they are struggling with the what the insurance approves and pays for, the amount they have to pay out of pocket, etc.

Forgive me, but I guess I have a harder time feeling sorry for someone who has the money to take care of these issues while my friend had to decide to go to a food pantry so they could pay their copays for her husband's care.

Okay, off my soapbox now and I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

However, as I understand it, he used to be a boxer, so of course he would have the advantage in a fist fight.

Admin -- Also, a lot of the changes are very subtle at first and it isn't until later in life that the ex-athlete begins to show signs of dementia and other brain damage. Junior Seau, who took his own life this summer, exhibited severe changes in his brain, but apparently wasn't showing many overt signs of brain damage. Alex Karras, who died recently, was able to function as an actor for years after he stopped playing, but had severe dementia by the time he died. Of course, he was also in his 70's, so some of that may have been due to aging and other factors and not to brain damage from football injuries.

Greedy? The pattern of going back to someone who does not treat you right is the point being made here. It is not meant to be taken so literally. In any situation where someone is repeatedly going back to something bad for them--be it DV, drugs, overeating, whatever, this has been compared by multiple people to the DV pattern just because that is the classic pattern people understand and have heard of.

Again, you're taking "forget everything and go back to normal" far too literally. Of course for some it's a facade. In fact for Milo I suspect it IS a facade, just like a DV victim. We're really not talking about DV though, it was simply a common pattern you see in many things, way broader than DV.

Let me put it this way, Milo fits the classic pattern of people going back to things that are bad for them, ok?

Many people that deal with these issues don't have the choice, nor the money, to help pay for the treatment to make their life tolerable.

From OrangeCrush's report,it sounded to me like the article she read was trying to make it appear that the fiance only had a small cut on his hand while the ex had these terrible facial injuries. I don't think either of them came out of it injury free. IMO, regardless of who started it, who egged the other on, who was injured the most, whatever, these are 3 adults who are treating a child like a wishbone, and they all 3 need to grow up and put that little girl first.

I agree that the three adults need to grow up. However, from what I've read, it seems very clear to me that Halle Berry is a text-book case of parental alienation. From the rulings of various Judges, they seem to agree. In the case of parental alienation, it seems to me that no matter what one parent does, it will never stop the alienation efforts of the offending parent. To ME, it seems that KK and Halle Berry are a matched pair!!
