Pit Bulls and Parolees says Kate 'knows nothing about pit bulls'

The dog rescuer and pit bull expert seen on Animal Planet says Kate's negative retweets about the breed are 'nonsense' and the oft-vilified dogs are 'very loving, very protective and gentle around children.'

Courtesy of "Pit Bulls and Kids," stubbydog.org

Kate's done it again. Last week Jon's girlfriend tweeted two remarkably sweet and candid Instagram photos, each featuring one of the sextuplets (one of the girls and one of the boys) lovingly cuddling with her pit bull. We've never seen the children look so relaxed, happy and natural. In typical fashion however, along came Kate to ruin it all. Subsequently, Kate retweeted some negative tweets about injuries to children as a result of pit bull attacks. A twitter war ensued, the champions of the misunderstood breed on one side, Kate maintaining her passive aggressive stance on the other. Several people pointed out that Kate's German Shepherd Shoka also makes the "dangerous breeds" lists.

Yesterday, Animal Planet star Tia Maria Torres spoke out in support of the breed, pointing to the nanny dog's good nature with children, and saying she would send Kate some educational DVDs on the dogs. Torres said aggressive and ignorant owners are responsible for attacks. Meanwhile, Animal Planet's web site has called the breed eager to please, faithful, enthusiastic friends and pleasant with children.

"Kate should know better than anyone what it's like to be vilified, what it’s like for people to say untruths about you," Torres said. "I would also like to know if Kate has had any personal experiences with pit bulls that she believes she is the authority on their behavior." Oh, snap!
Helen Keller and her pit Sir Thomas

Famous pit bull owners who also have children in the home include Michael J. Fox (who even gave voice to a pit bull determined to make it home to his family in the classic 1993 family film Homeward Bound), Jamie Foxx, and Alicia Silverstone, whose son Bear is 18 months old. Helen Keller also owned a pit bull.

Suggestion for Kate: Next time you have an issue with someone who is around your children, pick up the phone and call them and discuss it like grown adults. Leave Twitter and your fans out of it.

Thanks to those people who said nice things to Bad Aeduko.

Trust, I understand that no child wants to see their parents in compromising positions like that. Good lord, the thought of my mother . . . well I just can't even go there! But, this is an "eye of the beholder" thing, and children will model what they're told. I think it was Dwindle who said that the Kardashians don't have an issue with porn tapes; it's what made them, and apparently Kendra thinks it's an OK way to make a lot of money. I wouldn't do it, and I wouldn't want any of my nieces or nephews to do it. But that's mostly because of other people's opinions. The fact is that modeling and porn are the two industries where women make more than men, so who am I to slam someone who's taking advantage of it?

Aeduko said...

PS This all assumes that Kendra leaves her "work" at "work", which I bet she does. I also bet she's a heck of a lot more fun to be around than the kids' mother.

AuntieAnn said...

A rabid wolverine would be a heck of a lot more fun to be around than Kate.

Aeduko said...

>>Not to be contrary ( ;) ), but that's pretty much what some here seem to be implying<<

That is NOT what I'm implying. Your statement says I think it's great for children to be OK with a career in porn. I never said that. I said I don't care for people calling Kendra Wilkinson names because of her "career" choices.

carezee said...

Ha ha ha! When first looking at the picture I thought that was a bird feeder not a doghouse. It just doesn't look big enough for a German shepherd. I guess I need to put my glasses on.

I thought it was one of the kids' crooked houses.

readerlady said...

Paula, I didn't say a sex tape wasn't porn, I said that Kendra was far from being a porn "star". AFAIK, that sex tape is the only one she's made. To me, "porn star" means that she is regularly featured in movies involving blatant and gratuitous sex. Linda Lovelace, Jenna Jameson, Ron whatever his name is = porn stars. Kendra Wilkinson made a sex tape which, by my definition, and yours, is porn. Not a porn "star". I don't consider Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton to be porn stars either, but they are certainly trashy. I don't think any of them made the tapes intending to market them. They made them with the intention of being used as private titillation for themselves and their partners. If they had left it at that, I don't think anyone would be declaring them to be porn stars. It might not be what you or I would chose to do for "entertainment", but it wouldn't be anyone else's business. However, I don't think we gain anything by arguing amongst ourselves over the definition of porn. What KK did was wrong, and I'd be outraged if she'd partnered with Mother Theresa. IMO, it's more WHAT she did as opposed to with whom she did it.

Butterfly said: I'll back Aeduko, since I think no one else will. Sex is not a crime (well exchanging money for it is, LOL)- while Kendra is a mother, and someday her some day her son may see it, she's definitely not alone in that category. It does not make her a bad person. Kate and Kendra swapping their homes and kids w/a stranger, does. Just like Aeduko said. I certainly dont look down on Kendra for being a porn star. I think as her son gets older, she may want to consider another line of work :)

^^^^^^^^^^^

I can't imagine being a kid, and as a teenager googling my mother's name, only to discover a video of her engaging in the sex act, full-blown porn. It may not be a crime, but it sure speaks volumes about morals, ethics and values. I know that's something that I'd never forget and I'd wrestle with it throughout adulthood.
_______________________________________
Morals and ethics are subjective. I see nothing wrong with the porn industry as long as all participants are willing. If people want to make movies of sex, so what? Big deal.
And who is it that said the porn industry is full of low lifes and druggies? Know many of them, do you? Some are very nice people- yes, I DO know a few in the business- and two are mothers. Big deal. They are out now, cuz their children are older and they do the mother-stay-at-home thing instead. Kinda judgmental.
PS- The music businees, the movie business, the legal system (lawyers and judges) the medical community and the military are full of 'druggies'.

Paula said...

I pray that I never get to the point in my thinking where porn "is no big deal".

Andrea said...

I wonder if the mom swap pilot will have to be reshot to comply with the Gosselin law. I doubt they followed that law or even got the proper permits to shoot it.

Paula said...

In fact, that is the argument that the sheeple will most likely spew when this show is confirmed. So what is Kate left her kids with a porn star? It's no big deal. Who needs to stay in school? Who needs to go to college? Making money by allowing millions of people to see you naked is no big deal.

Looked at baby mama's site for the first time in a while. Pizza gate video is available along with several others. If anyone has low blood pressure today, take a look and it will get it right back up there. Had forgotten how incredibly obnoxious, controlling, tyranical she is and it's there forever and ever for the world to watch over and over.

Anybody see "Grey Gardens"? Fast foward 30 years. How sad to think one or more are still living with her and sadly drifting through life still trying to please a person what never will be pleased.

I keep meaning to ask -- When does the "Gosselin Law" take effect? Did it take effect the date it was signed or was a future date specified (such as 1/1/2013)? If a future date was specified, is there a "grandfather" clause? If so, KK may be engaging in some machinations to film the kids as much as possible before she has to comply with the law. I would hope that there are no loopholes in the law, but who knows for sure? Admin, have you read the entire thing?

Thanksgiving menu ideas: turkey of course, with stuffing done on the stove top, not in the bird. My future sil and I both like the canned creamery sauce, no one else eats it. Have terrific recipe for sweet potato corn bread. Should I fix the baked sweet potatoes with marshmallows to? Not sure. Everyone loves the crescent dinner rolls, I got a recipe to make them using bisquick, I will give that a test run this week.
What do you guys have for sides usually? I want to try some new ones. Any ideas will be welcome. Thanks in advance!

Well, the hubs should be at our friends farm by now for the bonfire cookout. I could not go because I have a recurring medical issue that decided to come back today. The hubs wasn't going to go, but I told him that we were both looking forward to it, so he shouldn't miss it because of my issue (it's not life threatening or anything like that). I also reminded him that we have a side dish, a dessert, and the hot dogs! So he went, but called me to see how I was feeling.

Anyway, to weigh in on the Kendra and porn star issue. Okay, Kendra made only one tape, but all porn stars starred in their first production,and then went on to others. Also, Kendra herself is the one marketing this tape (if I understand correctly). Not to mention, she got her start in porn with Playboy so this would be the logical next step for her. In my opinion, she never bothered to focus on anything else but her looks and sex.

Yes, I am old fashioned, and I admit it. I would NEVER have wanted my daughter to do any type of porn, and she is naturally beautiful (spoken like a true mom!). Instead, she used her brain and is in a profession that helps other people.

This is just my opinion, but I have a big problem with Kendra and the Kardashians and the like. They are trashy. And the fact that Kate left her children with this person, especially 2 preteens, is just reprehensible to me.

Thanks Paula! My dds love Mac and cheese, but I don't want to have too much starches on the menu.
I meant to say, future sil and I are the only ones who like CRANBERRY sauce, yes the kind out of the can with no actual berries in it

LoveMyGrandsons said...

JoyInVirginia, I make the traditional side dishes because that is what my likes. We have the asparagus, corn, broccoli casserole, and of course the green bean casserole made with fresh green beans and fresh onions and mushrooms. Of course mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes with a little olive oil and seasoned, and my hubs favorite sausage stuffing. Also cranberry sauce.

My grandma and great-grandma had their Polish tradition with sweet and sour cooked red cabbage, and rudabaga. Ocaissionally I still make these 2 dishes, but small amounts because my family never acquired a taste for them.

Paula said...

Oh, my husband loves the cranberry sauce out of the can. He is the only one - so either he eats it all or I throw some away. But, you know, it's Thanksgiving. My extended family seems to get smaller each year, so I say, what the heck, have what you want, eat it all, make a pig of yourself. I'm not sure how many more years some of us have with each other.

I have a mashed potatoes recipe that requires an ambulance on stand by. Cream cheese, sour cream, marinated artichoke hearts, half n half, and butter. The potatoes are boiled in chicken broth. It is a textured consistency, or "lumpy" if you prefer.

Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without a huge portion!

Dmasy said...

My mom used to slide that cranberry sauce out of the can! It kinda' jiggled and had the ridge design of the can all around the sides. I don't remember if I liked it or not. But, I do recall how it looked lying on its side on a small holiday platter.

LMG,
I have a daughter, too and she (well, and I) both use our brains over bodies, but from I gather of the Kardashians- they arent the brightest tools in the shed ;) So I guess that leaves their ASSets, LOL

And for Kendra-I have no clue of her brains. I just know I dont judge people because they have sex on film.
Look at Pamela Anderson- she is waaaay smart, and she went with her, ahem, assets. Doesnt make her unethical or immoral. She chose differently than the majority of the rest is all.

JoyinVA,
Cranberry sauce, not creamery - got it, LOL!!

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Dmasy, I make those mashed potatoes, but I've never added artichokes to them. I love artichokes, but unfortunately, I'm the only one that does. You wouldn't believe how long it took me to get my hubs to eat asparagus, which he now loves.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

butterfly, I understand your point, but I just can't agree with it. I was growing up in the midst of the women's movement (late 60's and 70's) and so I still have that viewpoint that females should not be considered just sex objects. Unfortunately, it seems from Kendra's choices, that's exactly what she considers herself and it doesn't bother her.

As far as Pam Anderson, she seems to remain low key and doesn't promote that image since she became a mother of 2 sons. I respect her for that. She seems to really think of her children first, and not her own needs. But that's just my opinion.

butterfly, hon, I think on this one we will just have to agree to disagree.

I saw the original documentary years ago and was gobsmacked over the movie. If anyone thinks that Drew Barrymore was merely putting on a great performance, watch the original. Now, THERE is some mental illness, front and center.

Green bean casserole; stuffing baked in a casserole dish; whole cranberries; cheesy broccoli casserole; turkey AND a ham; mashed potatoes, some kind of jello salad mold... I cant think what else, just the usual I guess. Pumpkin pie (that HunnyBunny calls "a religious experience") and apple pie. And I am famous 'round the globe for my gravy! hehe not really, but from the time I was 7 or 8 it was always my job to make the gravy so I kind of have it down to a science now. HunnyBunny volunteers me to make the dinner gravy wherever wwe go, it's embarrassing and I finally had to say 'shut up about it already!'

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Dwindle, no need to apologize, you are right on the money with that assumption. My Thanksgiving tradition is a bit different. I don't have any family left to speak of -- a couple of cousins, but we're far-flung. I have a couple of friends who are pretty much in the same boat, so we all get together for the holidays. In the past, we would gather at someone's house, the hostess was responsible for the turkey, and the rest of us would bring the rest of the feast. Last year, one of us was dealing with some pretty serious health issues, so we decided to get one of those prepared feasts from Meijers. It was excellent and so much less work for everyone, so we're going to do that again this year, with a few side dishes of our own making. It doesn't cost a lot and includes turkey and dressing and mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, etc. It works out to less than $10 each, so it's perfect.

I've invited her to our home for a holiday dinner and she always politely declines. She says she has her "unblood" relatives that she spends her holidays with and she so enjoys it!

Good for you and your friends. Sometimes I'd like to order my family dinner so I didn't have the work or the cleanup!

It is so obvious that the photo of the girls reading is staged. For one thing who puts a chair right in front of a door? Especially since space is not an issue in that large house. And it is posed so that the girls are sitting apart and the space between them leads the eye up to the dog house. If the focus of the picture was to only show the girls reading then the photographer needed to move them in closer to each other and lower the camera somewhat. Yep, getting the doghouse in that picture was important. And really, would two siblings randomly decide to read the same book at the same time sharing the same chair?

Looks like the landscaping needs tending to. If Shoka routinely uses that dog house shouldn't there be a trail where Shoka goes back and forth? It looks pretty overgrown to me.

LOL!! The first year we were married, I tried to impress my husband by making homemade cranberry relish with raisins, apples, oranges, walnuts and who knows what else. He looked at it and said, "but I like it right out of the can."

Of course, out of the can is the way we always ate it when I was a kid. My grandmother had a small, oval clear glass dish that she always used. I remember how it just kind of jiggled on the plate. When she died, I was going through her things and I kept that plate. Funny how something so inconsequential can trigger so many happy holiday memories.

I'm in readerlady's position regarding Thanksgiving. I have no one left for holidays. I have a sister but she is never around for Thanksgiving and I went to her house for a day before Christmas lunch a few years ago and her husband made me so uncomfortable that I will never go again. I said no to Christmas dinner last year and will never put myself in the position of his bullying her again. I was very uncomfortable, and if she wants to take the bullying, fine, but I'm done with being around it. Don't know if you have Boston Market there, but I got a great dinner from them that lasted me for a few days. It was wonderful. Or I can make my own. I enjoy cold turkey. It's a far cry from the old days of family and friends, but family dies or in my husband's case can't celebrate, and friends have been lucky enough to move away. In fact, I moved for 15 plus years for work, and returned to take care of ill relatives. I made the correct choice, and life is what it is. I'm actually ok with it. I don't need a lot of validation. The food is fine, and I'm great with simple.

Just enough for people to ask what was different but oh-so-good about that salad?

If there are pictures publicly posted, I prefer that they be staged. That is what I think is so objectionable about Liz's photos--they appeared to be candid pictures taken during a private moment.

4444444444444

when i was working full time and then some, I got that ready-dinner several years in a row from Giant Eagle.Even fed it to my mother and snotty sis-in-law one year. I'm sorry, but you cant beat it! it was not enough mashed potatoes for us, so one person brought extra, and of course we needed home made pies. But really, add a couple of your favs and you are good to go! I missed the wonderful aromas in the kitchen of the turkey and stuffing roasting, but I would do it again in a minute. Oh, and my mother thought I was brilliant for ORDERING such a wonderful meal. Her husband only griped about the scant amount of mashed potatoes, so no biggie.

We always have smoked turkey and I let the kids pick out whatever sides they want. I know homemade mac n cheese will be one as well as mashed potatoes. Not sure about the rest yet.

I never cared for turkey until we started smoking it: divine

"smoking turkey" and I swear to you, dear cherier1, I thought to myself, 'Is THAT what they're calling it these days!'

But you mean, smoking a turkey not smoking turkey so I stand corrected!

So we get him a can, slice and serve it prettily,
******************
We can't even slice it - it must stay in cranberry "can shape" and slide right out on the plate, and stay in form. Something about when they were kids and were fascinated at how it stayed in that shape and just rolled around on the plate, and they poked and prodded it.

I like my turkey the next day in a sandwich.
We always have oyster stuffing, baked corn, potato filling and green beans. My new DIL is a baker so she wants to do the pies. I'd love to try some new side dishes but it's hard to break with tradition. Everyone has a favorite.
Last year I dry brined the turkey (basically a salt and herb rub that you leave on overnight). It was fabulous. The recipe was from Martha Stewart :)

Ah, now you're talking.
Jell-O/walnuts/pineapple salad. We used cream cheese instead of the cottage cheese, and instead of using water for the cold liquid for the Jell-O, we used ginger ale. It caused small little bubbles to rise to the top, and the flavor had just a tiny little zing to it.
Just enough for people to ask what was different but oh-so-good about that salad?

Should that be @Jell_O?

**********************

HOW DO YOU GET THE BUBBLES TO RISE? My dear gma used to make that and my mother and I have tried for decaded to duplicate it with no success. fidosmommy, can you share? Oh please? I could cry thinking of my gma's special green jello that our family hasnt had since I lost her at age 15. sniff.

Jello makes me cry? Oy.

Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday. The problem is that I don't like the food served on that day. Turkey? No, that's for my cat. Gravy? I hate that stuff. Stuffing and cranberry sauce? None for me, please. Non- starchy vegetables must be raw to be enjoyed, and mashed potatoes must be smooth as silk. Sweet potatoes are an affront to the nostrils, and any Brussels sprout that dares make an appearance will be heaved out the door. Pie? I'll pass, thanks.

OK so which one of you is inviting me for dinner?

I wish you all an enjoyable time discussing the

Well, now you made me think:

We have a ham every year, and usually a veggie tray too. I have a fruit compote in port wine that I serve that we even let the kids have. My ex husband always wanted steamed fresh peas and for you I would make that again. Fried apples too on the table.

You are invited with us!

Correct me if you think I'm wrong, fellow Canadians!I have heard about Americans who travel across the continent to be at home for Thanksgiving every year! I don't know any of us who do that.

What's Next, I made a recipe for Thanksgiving 3 years ago with orange jello. You added cool whip to it and it had 2 or 3 layers (I don't remember now) and the it separated while chilling and the top layer was cool whip. Then you added orange zest to the top. It was so good! I think I need to pull out the recipe again this year.

Actually all it is, is 3 stalks of celery with cream cheese. You put them together so when you cut them the pieces look like a pinwheel. I know it sounds dumb but my mother-in-law use to make them for my DH and that is the only way he eats them. You can't just put a stalk of celery with cream cheese in front of him and call it a day. He knows it is a special dinner if he gets his pinwheels. LOL.

***********

In my experience, Christmas shares nearly 1/2 and 1/2 with ham. But what do I know. In my families, blood, marriage, extended, and back again, Thanksgiving is the more formal meal with the set traditions. At times, the house is so packed on Christmas it is not possible to have a sit down meal so it's less structured.

And since *I* grew up in Detroit, no Thanksgiving is complete without the Lions. Evah.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Kiwi, I hope you are feeling well, hon.

Auntie Ann, I am, as my hubs calls me, a ham-aholic. I love baked ham, and so does the family. This is our traditional main course for every holiday except, of course, Thanksgiving.

She's come undone, I think I didn't make myself clear. They are not all in the casserole; they are separate dishes. The corn is just the Green Giant sweet corn in butter sauce. The asparagus, depending on my mood, can make it a few different ways. One is to roast it with olive oil and seasonings (we love roasted veggies). Or steam it and top with butter and seasonings. Another way that I liked, but my family wasn't crazy about, was roasting or steaming the asparagus and making a light sauce with a lowfat vanilla yogurt and orange zest. I thought it was so good, but the hubs and daughter didn't care for it so I haven't pulled out that recipe in a few years.

As far as the broccoli casserole, sautee onions, garlic, and celery in butter, steam the broccoli just enough so it's still crisp. Make a sauce with some milk, a little chicken broth, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and you favorite seasonings. Mix all of the ingredients together, put in a casserole dish, and bake at 350 for about 35 minutes. My SIL adds a few eggs, beaten, to her sauce, and that's good, too.

Now that I think about your question, this casserole could be changed up and you could add peas or corn or diced carrots to it. I bet it would be great. I think I will try that sometime.

Auntie Ann -- My family always had turkey for Christmas, but some families do a ham or a goose. There are a few that do a prime rib roast or something similar, too, but I think most families have turkey.

I love turkey. I grew up eating a lot of turkey and chicken (My Dad's younger brother was a chicken farmer, so we got all our poultry from him). I fix a small turkey breast in my slow cooker every once in a while. It's usually good for a couple of meals and a few sandwiches. Sometimes I even make turkey and noodles or turkey soup.

Kiwi, sorry to hear that you probably won't be able to enjoy the food on Thanksgiving. I hope your Ensure will at least be chocolate.

RE buying your cooked meal from the grocery...had to laugh...

Several years ago I did this, wracked with guilt and shame as I stood in the checkout line with my giant cooked turkey housed in a cardboard box, lol. I had to work the day before Thanksgiving and it was getting to be too much for my mom to do everything, plus my coworkers had given rave reviews - but I was still suspicious. What about the tradition of getting up at 5am to get it in the oven? the turkey taking up the whole oven so you can't cook anything else, or the roaster on the counter? the annoying basting while trying to get everything ready at the same time?

So, I snuck in a line - as best I could with a monster turkey-sized box - desperately hoping I wouldn't see anyone who would know and tell the whole community that I was too lazy to cook my own turkey.

And...it was the BEST turkey we ever had! It was still whole, and I had it heated up and waiting on the counter so the assigned person could still wrestle with and become annoyed with the electric knife, as required annually, while everything stood there waiting impatiently (that's the real tradition, lol). I didn't have to get up at 5, or try desperately to have everything come out at the same time. We've ordered it every year since and every year we congratulate ourselves on our cleverness, lol!

If you are pressed for time, don't have a lot of space, or just not a turkey-cooker, I highly recommend it. It didn't take me long to get over my shame, LOL!

Watching 20/20 on TLC, and the story is about Diane Downs. I read Ann Rule's book years ago, but seeing the interviews with this sick woman from the early 80's strikes some familiar chords in our Ms. Kreider.

If anyone gets a chance to see it; the double speak, the concern for only herself, the lack of empathy is eerie. Not saying Kate would do this to her kids, but it is like deja vu when watching one of Kate's past "set the record straight" tours.

Diane Downs was diagnosed as having narcissistic personality disorder, anti social, and ultimately a sociopath.

I remember years and years ago seeing a segment of Oprah. She had on Ann Rule live and Diane Downs was on tape from prison. I just couldn't believe Diane's attitude and Oprah called her on it a few times. At one point, IIRC, when talking about the shootings, Oprah made a comment to Diane that she was talking about it like it was a walk in the park (or something similar). Diane made a comment about it being 4 or 5 years ago. Kind of like, it's been so long ago, of course I've moved on. At least that was my take on it. I remember grabbing my toddler daughter and hugging her so tight after that show.

1 cup boiling water

1 8-oz pkg. cream cheese, softened slightly. (We only used the original Philadelphia - lower fat wasn't available back then)

8 oz. Ginger Ale - we used Canada Dry

1 tsp. granulated sugar

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

1 small can crushed pineapple, drained. Of course you could opt for tidbits if you prefer.

Put dissolved Jell-O, cream cheese, vanilla, sugar and ginger ale into the blender. Blend until all the cream cheese is mixed in well.

My grandmother made a 7-up Jello salad that I still make every Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter (goes great with turkey and ham). It is made with 7-up and dissolved marshmallows, then you add lime jello, crushed pineapple, broken up cream cheese and walnuts (if desired). You chill that mixture for about 10 minutes and then add a tub of cool whip and a cup of mayonaise!

My brother's family doesn't like flavorful foods and cooks their turkey until it is dry (he is afraid of everything). He grew up with the jello but neither he, his kids or wife like it. My late husband's family is another story-big family with tons of good,flavorful food and a nice moist turkey-and they like my salad! Guess where we prefer to go?

We need recipes for some of these suggested foods-I am interested in the Cola cake.

Fidosmommy,

I know that recipe, except my version has 7up, pecans, no vanilla or sugar, but mini marshmallows are added.

Watch for it come out on Menu Mondays, except Kate will ruin it, the cream cheese will be one large chunk in the middle of a pool of green jello,then she will slop it on paper plate and pair it with tofu vienna sausages, and some other unidentifiable side, take an awful photo and rename it "Kate's Georgous Green Jello"

Dmasy -- Boy, that's a blast from the past! Danny O'Day sang the "N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestles makes the very best" and Farfel sang "CHAWKLET", and their friend Jimmy Nelson. I was fascinated with ventriloquists when I was a kid and Jimmy Nelson, Sherry Lewis, and Paul Winchell were my favorites.

Dwindle -- I rather liked Shake-a-Pudding. I always kept some in my dorm room so if dinner in the refectory was particularly odious, I had something to eat. It wasn't as good as Jello pudding, but was better than the rubber they served at school.

Horray, the 20/20 Diane Downs episode is available on Hulu, completely free and legal.

Remind me again why I'm paying so much for cable??? It's all online these days and on demand whenever you feel like it.

Do you think the sheeple would freak out if I did a post on Diane? I think she's a fascinating case study.

Alberta Girl said...

Admin - she is fascinating. Just watching her speak about the shootings, and not displaying any remorse, tears, or empathy for her children - there are no words. You can see her love of the attention and spotlight.

I hope Small Sacrifices is on Netflix. Unfortunately for us Canadians, Hulu doesn't work : (

I was really struck by that quote that KK retweeted. As a young mother, determined to break the cycle of abuse, I continually reminded myself that it was possible as long as I remembered to NOT treat my babies the way I had been treated. Jon's children have his example of how to be a loving parent...so at least they have the example of how to be, as well as the example of how NOT to be.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I can't find Small Sacrifices on Netflix or other traditional means. It looks like it is on youtube though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5S9cjZoeafE

It's three hours long, what was this, a mini series? Just viewing a minute of it Farrah Fawcett had her voice down. It's uncanny. She was underrated.

And I hope that there are a lot of young women and mothers out there who have watched the episodes and know enough about Kate so that they know what NOT to do as a parent. If any good comes out of any of this, that will be it. They need to think about how Kate handled a situation, and then do the opposite.

Ryan ONeal and Tatum had a brief reality show about the two of them and their crap. I saw it on Demand when I was sick and there was nothing else on.

I've always kind of felt Farrah could do a lot better than his shenanigans but was so head over heels in love with him she just couldn't help herself. Sad.

IDModo has left a new comment on the post "Pit Bulls and Parolees says Kate 'knows nothing ab...":

Something you Americans do with more vigour, tradition and pizzazz than us Canadians - Thanksgiving!It's a much bigger holiday for you than it is for us, although we eat turkey or ham, pumpkin pie, and the men doze in front of the tv football game while the women clean up - if the family celebrates traditionally.

Correct me if you think I'm wrong, fellow Canadians!I have heard about Americans who travel across the continent to be at home for Thanksgiving every year! I don't know any of us who do that.

Happy Thanksgiving in advance,America!
~~~
ID,
As a transplant, I can say that Canadians do not take Thanksgiving as serious as Americans do. I have cried every year since I moved here, because I miss my family so much on that day. This year, for the first time, I am taking the holiday off and making a traditional dinner. Even if it is just DH and I for the meal. Good thing we both like leftovers.
And count me in for the Costco pumpkin pie. Lately I have been making DH fresh pumpkin pies as a treat (he loves them so) but those Costco ones can't be beat!
Betty said...
I was also told Kate will sue me.
Alberta Girl said...
I think for Canadians, Christmas is a bigger event than Thanksgiving. That's when everyone goes all out, and everyone travels to see family.
The only thing I don't understand, is if the Thursday is Thanksgiving, what is the Friday? Is that a holiday, and if so, what's it called? (I know all about Black Friday, but that's just shopping. For us it's Boxing Day) My company is American, and the head office shuts down for 4 days, so I've always wondered...
I'm spending Thanksgiving with friends of my moms. My other family members didn't want to drive because the traffic is awful so it's just my mom and my kids at another family's dinner.
This family has been close to my family for over 30 years so it's not like I don't know them.
I love Turkey and the sides (usually) but don't like cranberries. I did Boston Market last year and it was fantastic.
Oh, Wednesday before Thanksgiving mom is cooking all my favorites for me and my kids.
Yall have made my night (at work). Love hearing about all the TG dishes and the family traditions. My family get together for both TG and Xmas, mostly at my sister's house. It's always nice but she is on her 3rd marriage and her husband. Well, he bullies her too and it makes the rest of us uncomfortable. My sis is 71 and not getting around without her oxygen but she still tries. I guess soon I will have to take over the task. They do the turkey and we all bring a dish. I make the creamy/cheesy cauliflower. Lately though, I feel I'm losing my touch, don't cook much anymore, turn 66 in March. I do still work and alway work the night of TG, Xmas and New years. I just like being around my patients and I don't know how much longer I will be able to do this. I take the holiday nights so the younger nurses can be home with their kids . Thanks everyone for sharing.
I know I'm behind,but I had to comment on the K-duh and kate story.
Is this something that really happened? Did kendra and kate really "swap" lives for a week?Is this part of the new Celebrity life swap?
I have to admit I did watch the GND.I was drawn in...like a deer caught in headlights.I never liked k-duh as she was called on the message boards.It was clear she was there only to live life on the red carpet lane for fucking ( yes sorry) an 80 year old man.In her own words...having sex for 2 minutes with Hef was worth all the rewards she got.
She even said Hef reminded her of her grandpa.Who screws their grandpa and calls him her boyfriend?
Like kate...kendra was some missing pieces.If you go to the GND message boards you'll see there was a very long thread talking about Jon and kate.I posted there many times.Trying to get the truth out about the real kate.It was proven that all 3 of the "girls" read there.Kendra has made comments about kate...not so nice ones back then...this was 2 maybe 3 years ago.
I can't believe Hank would let this happen...to hand his son over to kate for a week.But,Hank does anything k-duh says.And like kate,k-duh isnt into reading the news...I'm sure she has no idea that kate has been proven to be a child abuser.
Also like kate,k-duh is willing to keep herself in the spotlight by doing anything and everything she can...selling her child's privacy means nothing to her.As much as I think k-duh is a complete moron...I thought she might care more about her son than kate thinks about the kids she has.I guess not.
Like others have already pointed out on here...kate is gonna say 1 kid? OMG...how easy...how great!K-duh will say OMFG! 8 kids??? She is a super mom.Will k-duh get all of kate's paid help? Will k-duh spend as much time with the 8 as kate does?Will k-duh hide out in the bedroom and bark orders at the help? I'm not thinking so.
Sorry so long,but this really pushes my buttons.The more I think about it,I think the girls next door message boards were in 06- 07-08..wow...I had kates number way back when! On e-online.
Hiya! Do you have any idea how sweet you are??? I cannot believe you think to ask about me! : )
Truthfully, to answer your question.....oh what a day! Suffice it to say that my jaw hit the floor when you were correct about why poor LMG didn't get to go to her much anticipated cookout today ( so, so sorry LMG...believe you me, I feel your pain ) because that is one of the biggest issues making my life a living hell! Non stop, constantly, for going on a year now!!! We need our own chat place, I tell ya!
I was in a toxic phase all day and night and now, here I am, wide awake at 4:20 am!! My hubby was at fire hall for his shift (24hrs in Toronto ) and was going to leave to take care of me as I was literally dying on the couch and crawling around. Thank God my 2 boys still at home (16 and 24) are able to fend for themselves. I feel so guilty though ...my parents took DS16 to see new Bond movie, late matinee, and then he had wanted to go to a friends house where a bunch of them, including his little GF, were able to hang out together tonight. Kind of rare for him as we live in kind of a country estate type subdivision, surrounded by farms and other subdivisions like ours except spread out so that requires approx 15-20min drive, each way, to get to each other. My Mom drove him up after the movies ( they live around the corner from us ) but had to pick him up no later than 11:30...understandable. Poor kid was crushed to have to be picked up at 11:15 from a 'party' that was going until 2am!! They NEVER get to do this...or it's very rare...and I feel so bad that I wasn't well enough to allow him to stay and pick him up later than my Mom had to. He's fine...well, as fine as a 16year old boy is who only gets to see GF at school 90% of time...it's just yet another guilt thing for me as all my 'issues' interfere with one more thing. Just like poor LMG!
Anyways....so sorry everyone for such a long, OT ramble but I'm just really, really feeling like I'm at the end of my rope on days like this.
Back to reading! Oh......Kate SUCKS so bad as a 'Mother'....wonder if she'll EVER feel a case of the Guilts??? Who am I kidding?!
I'll be spending Thanksgiving Day by myself, but my daughter and family will be coming to visit that weekend. They're having dinner with her dad, stepmom and stepsisters and their families. But they will be staying at my house from Thursday evening until Sunday. We'll be going out to dinner on Friday night. Then Saturday, I get to babysit my 3 grandkids, while my daughter and SIL go to my daughter's 25th high school reunion. It sure doesn't seem like it's been 25 years since she graduated high school!
When we do have Thanksgiving dinner, my daughter always wants me to make MY special cranberry sauce, when all I do is follow the instructions on the Ocean Spray bag. But one year, it WAS special, because my grandson and granddaughter helped me make it.
Ok everyone,
My paper is written and submitted, I am about to to go run a 5K for the local aniaml rescue, but that will only take a a couple hours max out of my day, AND, this is a 3 day weekend for me, so I still have the rest of today and tomorrow so I can watch the movie/interview and participate in the posts. :)
Is it on?
The Betty comment about her brother and the replies are too funny!!
FYI said...
franky-If you go back to page five of this thread (comments 801-1000) you can read about the twit war starting with my comment #24. Basically, it started when a person on twitter was defending pit bulls and Kate responded:
Kate Gosselin‏@Kateplusmy8
@xxxx but it's your dog and your decision right? :) imagine your wishes/safety concerns being ignored...can't take chance w safety!
Then an enabler agreed with Kate and Kate replied:
xxxx
@Kateplusmy8 A mother's request when it comes to the childrens safety should always be respected. A non family person has no right to ignore
Kate Gosselin‏
@xxxx agreed and thank you. Request was made a long time ago... Ignored. Sad and potentially dangerous, IMO.
After Kate tweeted that, Liz apparently had enough and tweeted:
ljisgaia
@Kateplusmy8 @mybordercollie Enough,Kate!!--wasn't ignored! Woke up and realized I gave up time w my pup due to ur Demands (not request)...
ljisgaia
@Kateplusmy8 @mybordercollie and 2save J and the kids from u and not my dog! Pup is least of issues and I am not dealing w this crap anymore
Kate never responded, but her enablers jumped all over Liz. Liz managed to get a few more digs in before she closed her twitter account.
ljisgaia
@Kateplusmy8 you can't roll ur window up in my face on twitter.this is all ridiculously out of control all of it has to stop right now.
LizJ‏@LJisGaia
This is not about a twit war nor personal attn. Her hate for Jon overpowers life & relationships to everyone close. Som1 will get through.
So Kate started it, Liz continued it, the enablers went frantic defending Kate, while Kate sat on the sidelines letting them fight her battle for her.
And that is what it is in a nutshell.
Hope this helps.
