Kate runs in Y102's 'Yes I Can' 5K in Wyomissing

Although promotion for this great cause has been shamefully sparse, we do know the race kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday and benefits Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. To donate check out their web site here.

I guess they don't have sag wagons for 5K's, huh?

Well, Kate, do your best and maybe you can make a tradition of giving back. Remember it was your dream to do that back in Tennessee.

Will there be a lot of Special Olympics participants at this? I have to say that one of the few times Kate seemed comfortable was when she was holding Trig in Alaska (the cutie pie). She was good with him, I admit it.

Gosselin Give Back,

she's rigid in every other part of her miserable life and I think she's rigid enough to eat the same thing over and over again to attain her goal of... well, whatever it is... she still looks like shit but hey, she sticks to her diet rigidly!

Admin,

Yes, I agree. I did mention her blogging or twittering for the charity but it got lost in my frustration at her for throwing away such an excellent opportunity to do ANYTHING right about her running in a race.

Her selfishness is beyond words. Not a peep for the Special Olympics, not a peep about how she prepped for race in healthy way...

she has/had a wide open platform to sell herself, the charity, HOM issues for others, to do good things. But her greed and distain for others brought her to the failure she is enjoying now.

And after all that, after everything is said, one could still ask: 'where are her handlers and managers?????!!!!!' How could they not guide her better instead of into career suicide?

Oh wait... she doesn't listen to anyone.

Yeah, I know... the word 'career' and kart shouldn't even be in the same sentence together.

I have to wonder if her parents are having the last laugh - they are probably glad she's out of their life. I know I would be.

I dont know why these causes havent figured out that she WILL NOT promote their events. She thinks the honor of her warm and leathery body is thrill enough for all. Since she is sooo eager to get back on TV, you would think she would put a tiny effort into making herself an in-demand 'personality', by bringing in the MONEY for some of these events.

I dont understand how someone can be so deliberatly stupid for 37 years.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It's almost like she thinks she is above promotion. Which is just so odd because she doesn't seem to be above Twitter and that's really dumpster diving. Many major celebs don't Twitter because it's just too, well, mediocre.

I would expect someone like Kate, who is so in love with herself, to spend all day long promoting herself and the things that she does. I cannot figure this woman out which is why this continues to be an interesting saga to follow.

Trying to figure out why Kate does or says anything is like trying to pick up a turd by the clean end.

FYI said...

I, too, don't understand why she didn't promote this event either. Does she think it's small potatoes compared to LV, San Diego and Chicago, because it's in her own back yard? Especially, since it's a charity event.

Does she plan on running the NYC marathon? If she does, the only way she can run is if she runs as part of a charity. In order to do that, SHE has to raise a certain amount of money for that charity or pay it herself.

My daughter is running the NYC this November. She is running for a charity, and she has to meet certain deadlines as far as fund-raising goes. So far, she's ahead of the game.

I always love how the sheeple say that Kate's running in the RnR marathons show that she supports their charity sponsors. That's not true-she only would be supporting thosse sponsors if she joined a charity team and raised funds for them.

I think Kate is planning on running the RnR NY 10K, and in her head that IS running the NYC marathon.

Here's the info on the race, directly from their website:

http://www.pretzelcitysports.com/userfiles/file/12%20reading%20y102%20app.pdf

It looks like everybody runs, including the Special Olympians. It costs $25 for the 5K and
$10 for the half mile fun run. Kate might be relieved she's not taking kids. Why, that would cost her a full $80 more, and all they will get out of it is a snack and a t-shirt. Harrumph!

I wonder if Steve will run. That's another $25 out of someone's pocket.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The Pennsylvania Special Olympics web site has a whole list of activities and fundraisers they do. She could have been promoting all those things all this time or reminding people to check out their local Special Olympics for service ideas or if they know someone with special needs to sign them up--it's free.

Another opportunity blown.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

When I say it's free to sign up I'm referring to participating in the games themselves....I know it's free in PA and I believe it's normally free elsewhere too.

Baw-haha. Ain't that the truth. Sorry you're not feeling so hot Audible but you're still quite funny!

This is exactly what narcissists do to their victims. We're just watching the train wreck but actual victims are left in a constant state of confusion and upset trying to figure their narcissist out until they finally accept they can't figure them out and leave.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

If I were running an event like this and bringing someone on baord I would make it 100% clear what I expect from them in terms of promotion. If that has to be in a contract form, i.e. celeb will tweet the event and promoting it at least once a week the six weeks prior to the event and every day a week before, and promote the event on their web site for six weeks prior to the event, so be it. You really have to spell these things out for idiots like Kate.

fidosmommy said...

Bu,bu,bu,but Admin, don't you know that Kate has her own special concerns. One of her kids needed
(gulp, gasp) GLASSES! She's been through it all
and couldn't get anyone to promote HER special needs for HER.

FYI said...

Kate couldn't even be bothered to retweet tweets from Jackie Hoffman(the radio person) about it. I guess Kate figured as long as her name was in the tweet, why bother?

She retweets about other causes for her tweeties, but she didn't for the one that she herself is participating in.

Even tonight, she tweeted that she was running in the Yes I Can 5K, but didn't mention that it was for the Special Olympics until someone asked her what the run was for.

fidosmommy said...

It does seem that if her tweeties are all gung-ho all things Kate that they would send a small contribution to the charities she is "supporting". Just $5.00 from each of her
100,000 tweeties(!)...well, wouldn't that be something. But if she doesn't promote it, they will never know where to send their in-awe-of-
Kate donations.

This is a worthy cause, and I think the virtual limo can start the trip to California here! We will also be stopping by unique quirky attractions and be picking up anyone interested in helping admin with the lawyerishly stuff. We have 5 days to get there, well we will arrive on day 5 which is Wednesday sept 12. So lots of time for fun virtual side trips.
We will be traveling in an H2 Hummer stretch limo, yes there is such a thing! With the Laguna model El Camino stretch limo following behind because I want to have our own redneck swimming pool, plus fidosmommy gets carsick. She and anyone else who gets carsick can sit in rocking chairs in the back so they can just lean over the side to throw up.
All you locals, have your virtual bags packed!

It's not a strapless top, it's a sleeveless one but her hair is covering the straps.

And speaking of her hair - her hair is so damaged looking in this photo. Another fan posted too (see below). Her hair looks just awful especially considering she gets it done at a high priced NYC salon.

Thanks, Luke's Mom. Pretty thin straps, considering the weight they have to carry. Guess that's where doubling up on the "good bras" comes in handy...

That's it, isn't it? Kate believes in what SHE does and promotes the heck out of HERSELF. She is the center of her own universe.

Idk if there's any credence to it, but it is weird how they try to look alike!

Personally I see Kate as asexual, but it could be that she and Jamie were just very close girl friends. not' girlfriends!'

Yes, my son is running his first full marathon on the 30th of this month -- Loch Ness, Scotland. He takes his training very seriously and I get an auto update daily on his stats. His girlfriend will be running the 10K at the same time. She overcomes some serious health issues to exercise and stay active. They are arriving in Scotland some days early to acclimate to the cooler weather there.

Joy In Virginia -- I WISH my hubby had the Mars recliner, but that belongs to Kiwi's dearly beloved.

Angie -- I see someone typed a longer state list for you. Good. I knew you were missing TX and IL, but there are even more you can add.

Audible -- I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, again. Big smile!

Kate's unwillingness to promote the charities in which she participates demonstrates why I'm glad she doesn't have a proper job--I'd feel just awful for her coworkers. I think Kate doesn’t promote for the simple reason that she genuinely doesn’t think it’s her job to do so—it’s her job to just show up and run, smile, or whatever. I’ve no doubt that she’d be the same at work; she’d demand help when she wants it (not ASK when she NEEDS it), but when it comes to returning the favor, hey, not her job, not her problem.

It's a real shame, because the Special is Olympics is such a good cause, and she has the platform to do a lot of promotion.

Improbable Dreams said...

Dmasy~I'm inspired by your son & his girlfriend, especially. She's working through/past REAL challenges, unlike someone else we know. Keep us updated, will you? I'd love to cheer them on...

Hope your birthday was spectacular. :)

FYI said...

She has one of the best promotional tools there is--Twitter. But she can only be bothered to promote things that benefit her--i.e. Bella Bars, Quilted Northern, Coffeemate, etc.

I seem to remember that she did promote the Food Harvest on twitter--but then that was only because it was part of her show.

Considering that her tweeties retweet every thing she tweets, just think how many people she may have reached(not just her followers), but she keeps mum.

It's really just so pathetic.

But I have visions of Kate having a seperate schedule for when her boobs have to make public appearance.

She has one calendar for the boobs, another for when the toes have to hang over the edges of the hooker shoes, another event calendar for the straw hair; And then there is the tiny little scrap of paper she keeps for her Cackeling Veneers events as those events are DWINDLING!

Which reminds me: Why oh why does she have to stand sideways with a hand on her hip in these casual snapshots? Is she afraid that radioactive white neon straw on her head wont call enough attention to her, she has to post like a 10 year old hamming it up for the camp photo?

She needs about 4 good inches cut off the ends of her hair. What a dried looking state of affairs that is.

You know, sometimes we are so demanding on this site. Kate got out of bed and put SHOES on, got someone to drive her all the way there, and then she ran down a street for a little while!!! And now YOU want her to mention that pesky charity business TOO??? Like, um, coordinate her brain to form a thought and shoot it out of her MOUTH?? A thought that has NOTHING to do with how wonderfully put-upon KATE is???

You just expect too too too much of her! She has kids, after all!!! And 6 hired folks to mastermind!!! And did i mention that this AHMAYZING woman likely wiped her own butt this morning??? All all all alone? I know some will dispute that, and no I dont have a link please, but really I believe she did the wiping coz she is just that wonderful!

Leave Katie alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She posed for pictures for cryin' out loud!!!! Your eyeballs are now graced with her orange magnificence!! And yet you demand she actually MENTION a CHARITY!!

Next thing, you'll expect her to physically DO something that brings MONEY in for a charity!!! YOU people have no shame, none at all.

Ooops, gotta go! The Limo is here!!!

She is probably napping right now since Jon supposely has the children this weejend. Also the pix of last night's meal was probably for her only. She wouldn't go to all the trouble of making it 8 more times. She prefers dishes that can be made just once like cassroles and whatnot. I also don't think she really cooks everyday. She had mentioned having pre-made cassroles frozen so all she had to was re-heat it. Possibly she spent 1 or 2 full days making the meals ahead of time. That would make sense as tgat would allow the not-a-nanny feed the children food she specifies rather having the nanny cook & risk messibg it up!

I still haven't had my nap! (snark) I'm still doing housework (resting w/ this in between) and need to go grocery shopping next!

Don't know who's doing the driving-but when you come to get me and my fellow Long Islanders here in NY, you will have to go over a toll bridge or two.

Can we stop and see Theresa Caputo? You don't want me to do the driving. That traffic on the Long Island Expressway is enough to drive anyone into an early grave and I always miss the exits, even with a GPS.

LOL! I never noticed the shade of her orangeish skin until i looked at the trees behind her. I don't know why I did. That was when I realized that was the color of fall leaves! I don't know why she wastes her time & $ doing the tanning. Image problems, Kate? Trying to match the color of Barbie doll? Natural skin is SO MUCH better! Also less problems if you don't screw with it so much. When she turns 40, she'll find it difficult to maintain it the same way.

Missy welcome, I love it when new posters stop lurking and introduce themselves.

Welcome back Susieq.

OT, I also waited impatiently for the last Jean Auel book but was really disappointed, I thought there was way too much detail describing the caves.

Joy in Virginia, for us Canadians, it would be best to start east and then go through Montreal, Gatineau Quebec and cross the bridge to Ontario. Then head west to pick up everyone from the western provinces.

Kate's on twitter silence because all of her home fans or should I say her very good friends are busy holding off the paparazzi and steering traffic while she is being mobbed by all of her adoring sheeple.

Mrs. Malaprop, so good to hear from you and I'm thrilled you're coming on the ROAD TRIP!! You're probably better off not having Moses' litter pan down in the basement right now. Dulcie is coming to keep Shoka company, and I'm sure she'd love having a kitten to boss around. Kiwi lives very near us, too. I think she's closer to you than I am, actually, altho the 3 of us are probably less than 1/2 hour apart. Dwindle lives a bit further up the road, and I think it's Librarylady who lives in the Akron/Canton area. Or is that you, Dwindle? I keep thinking you live closer to Cleveland, but I may be confusing your location with one of my bookblog friends.

Missy,Charlie, Shocked, Susieq -- welcome/welcome back. Come on in and join the fun. We won't even block the haters, we'll just agree them to death! Rumspringas all around. If I missed anyone, I apologize. You are welcome here, too.

I love Jean Auel's books. I enjoyed the cave descriptions in "Land of the Painted Caves", but I thought there was a lot of other material that could have been condensed or omitted altogether. I'd seen pictures of some of those cave drawings, but her detailed descriptions of the settings and the paintings themselves really brought them to life for me. What's your favorite Auel book? Mine's "The Mammoth Hunters". It barely beats out "Clan of the Cave Bear". Have you ever listened to them on audio? That adds a whole new dimension.

Wow, I took a look at the pictures, and Kate looks so completely over-processed in every way. That hair is crispy on the ends, the skin is way too orange, and who gets a French manicure for a run? Is there anything natural left on her? Or has it all been bleached, fried, stuffed, sucked, and enlarged to the point that there's nothing real left? And how can she whine about how tightly she has to budget when she still spends money on tanning and nails? Those are not necessities. She needs to quit crying poor when she obviously still has money for non-necessities.

Just returned from Iowa a couple hours ago so I have just skimmed through the many, many comments.

First of all, welcome to all of the new posters. I'm sorry, but I don't have all of the names down yet, but I promise I will!

Second of all, it is with my deepest regrets that I will have to pass on the road trip to CA. After my forgetfulness on the Saturday we left for vacation, I definitely need to lay off the rumspringas!!

To sum it up, I packed all of my shorts and capris in my suitcase, but forget to pack my 5 blouses hanging in the closet! I also forgot my wonderful SIL's birthday present on top of our bed, and I forgot our camera.

Then, our front driver's side tire blew on the
I-80. My hubs had to fix the flat with all of the semi trucks speeding by and it made me so nervous. Problem was, our spare was so low on air so we had to back up to the exit we just passed when the tire blew to find a gas station. We drove about 3 miles to this quaint little town that looked to be only about 3 blocks long. But it was such a picuturesque little town and everyone was so friendly. This all added almost 2 hours to our trip, but the looks on the grandsons' faces when we pulled up made everything worthwhile.

In the late afternoon, the boys wanted to take me "sploring" down by the dry creek bed. The boys said they slide down the side of the creek on their butts, but I explained why grandma couldn't do that, so they found an area where it looked like the ground was firm enough for me to walk down. Negative on that!! The first step was not a dirt covered rock, but a mound of packed dirt that gave way easily and I ended up sliding down the side of the creek on my butt in my WHITE shorts! My boys kept asking me if I was okay, but they couldn' hide their laughter. I imagine I looked pretty darned funny sliding down into that creekbed. But we did our "sploring" and I got to see their secret hiding places.

Anyway, we had a wonderful time and I will share some of the funny stories, but I don't want to hog the blog on my first day back!!

My favorite Auel books were Clan of the Cave Bear, Valley of Horses, and Mammoth Hunters.(the movie of Clan was dreadful!) I enjoyed the descriptions of how Ayla made her cooking supplies, equipment, medicines and her food sounded delicious! I found keeping track of all the characters a bit of a chore- had to make a list! I think a lot of readers expected her to reunite with Durc...what became of him? (although it's implied) I also think that affair in the last book was out of character as she was committed to Jondalar. The affair with Ranec was different, considering her background with the Clan. It was a bit exaggerated how good Ayla was at everything besides being so beautiful! The 'naughty' bits in the books I thought were sensuous & well-written, lol.

What did you & other readers think ?

Grandsons -- Sounds like you had an eventful road trip, with lots of stories to add to the family repertoire. Sounds like you had a love and laughter filled visit with the grandsons. I have just one question. Did the white shorts survive the adventure? Come along on the ROAD TRIP anyway. I'm not much on the rumspringas myself. I'm just as happy with an iced tea (of the Lipton variety), so you and I can be the designated drivers. Or maybe one of our inventive cohorts can come up with a virgin rumspringa.

Bluebird -- I'd love to visit those caves, too. I don't know if I could manage it physically, but I'd sure like to try. Auel did so much research for those books. Did you know that she made and lived in an ice cave for a while as part of her research? The information about the herbs that were used as medication is fascinating. People still use some of those remedies and some of our medicines are derived from them.

Improbable Dreams, you know, the more I think about it, my grandsons are really the ones creating wonderful memories for me!

My SIL was at the store and bought me 3 blouses as an early birthday present, which was so sweet.

Also, my younger grandson did better in preschool. We set up the chart and he got his stickers for everyday without a problem. Every 3 stickers, he got to choose an item from the Dollar Tree bag. We also included my older grandson in on this for good comments and homework grades from his kingergarten teacher (I didn't want to show favoritism). Okay, I know a prize after 3 stickers was probably overdoing it; it should have been after 5 stickers or so. I justify it by being grandma, that's it. The rest of the prizes can be handed out as my daughter and SIL see fit. Grandma's rules are a bit more flexible, though.

I had thought after she saw herself clumber down those steps on DWTS, she would practice keeping her knees together.

I dont mean anything gross by this, but is there a physical reason she clomps around with her legs spread apart? I am beginning to think it is an attitude thing, a body language thing of being pushy, in control and trying to be an intimidating bitch at all times.

Formerly, I agree with you about Ranec. And, I think Ayla genuinely cared for him, she just wasn't in love with him the way she was with Jondalar. I also agree that the movie was absolutely dreadful. I'd love to see a mini-series or even a full series made from the books, though. Much like Starz has done with Game of Thrones. Auel's writing is so visual that it would lend itself well to that, I think. I read somewhere that Auel is thinking of doing a 7th book in the series, so maybe that's why Durc didn't appear in Painted Caves. I got tired of the sex scenes after a while. At first, when she was discovering "pleasures" it was appropriate, but how many times can the same thing be described without getting boring? I think more titillation and less nitty gritty would have worked just as well.

Okay, I wasn't going to hog the blog with my vacay stories, but it seems that's exactly what I'm doing. Anyway, I have to share this.

Both of my boys are in soccer and we got to see each of them play in a game. The older one is very into soccer and a good player. The younger one, ah well, not so much.

When at the younger one's game, during warm up, (they are all 4 years old), the kids were just goofing around and the hubs and I agreed it would be an entertaining game.

Well, the younger one is a more aggressive player than we thought and it doesn't bother him to get in the middle of the other team's players and try to get the ball. Whereas his teammates run along the outside of the action. Our grandson kept getting the ball and ended up scoring all 4 goals that his team got. However, we couldn't figure out why the other team would just back away and let him have the ball.

Then the action got close to the sidelines where we were sitting on the grass, and we soon found out. As the other team had the ball, my little guy came running up behind them growling like a bear! The other players would stop and look at him and he would just get in between them, kick the ball, and get it to his goal net, growling all the way!

He never got physical with the players or mean with anyone, he just growled, kicked, and scored. We couldn't help but laugh. After the game we asked him about it and he said it was his soccer "battlecry". We laughed all the way back home. He is a pistol, and my darling daughter and SIL are going to have their hands full with that little guy!!

Sorry for all of the OT posts, but most of you know I'll be filled with stories for the next day or two. For those who don't like the OT posts, please just skip over them when you see my name!

Formerly -- I agree. Auel's in her mid-seventies now. If she does another 8 - 10 years of research, she'd be writing a huge book in her mid-eighties. However, she may have done enough research before Painted Caves to cover 2 books. I don't even remember where I read that. I think it was in one of the interviews she did when Painted came out, or maybe it was on her website. I hope she does, because IIRC, she did say at one point early in the series that Ayla and Jondalar's son would encounter Durc and there would be a war between the Cro-Magnons and the Neanderthals.

I just read that the series is over but she might continue with more Ayla stories...and she won back the rights to the series for film. (hurray) She was also disgusted with the Darryl Hanna version.

Ayla would have to have another son quickly, who would be considerably younger than Durc if they are to meet, as the clan's life expectancy is 30 ish?- the last baby she miscarried iirc?

Now I have an urge to re-read them all! I would like the talking book version you mentioned.

Dwindle 76- I totally agree -some of the former lurkers/new posters are a very welcome addition.

As far as Kate promoting anything BUT HERSELF is shameful, especially with such a great cause. In her own warped mind, she probably thinks- not her problem: 1)she is showing up, getting credit for being there and the world should be happy, and 2) In some warped twisted way, I think she is afraid if people donate to a cause she is "participating" in, on her behalf, they may no longer send HER gift cards, gifts, freebies, etc... It's almost like she can't stand to see the money go to anyone but herself. After all, she is a long time grifter. She did however lend her mug to this event, most likely to get her name out there, so I will give her credit just the same. Wonder if she made a donation to the cause, other than running. Never mind, already know the answer.

This is where Kate is the epic fail. She can never talk about the people this event was about, what a great cause it is to DONATE to, the challenges they face daily....only about herself. She truly has a screw loose, and is NPD all the way.

How come she always fails to reach out to her fans to help other people, if she truly believes in the cause she is running for? This in not a RNR marathon, Kate. You missed the mark once again. Too busy thinking of yourself.

I'm sure she doesn't fund raise for them, donate to them, and we know she doesn't promote them. Therefore, her only reason for being there is for her own "face time".

My next question is did they actually ask her to participate/promote this, or did she just sign up to run as other people do? Since I don't run, I don't know how it works.

I'm sorry it's not for you "not a reader".

What I find rather amusing is that when people talk about Kate, people drive by and say "All you talk about is Kate don't you have lives!" But when people actually talk about their lives and off topic things, we get other drive bys who want to know why we can't stay with the topic! LOL, guess we can't win.

no longer a reader, sorry if you think my OT posts make it impossible to follow this blog anymore. However, as I stated earlier, you can just bypass anything with my name on it.

However, I will state that Kate, for the most part, is boring and so is her life. Therefore, we enjoy going off topic at times to share stories, recipes, gardening tips, etc. Anyone who wants to share something OT here has always been welcome to do so, and I'm sure I speak for most bloggers here when I say we enjoy the OT comments and the humor/insight that go with them.

I know that other posters here can state it much better than I am right now, but sometimes, you just get sick of repeating the same old thing about Kate over and over again.

no longer a reader -- I'm sorry. What rants? I see discussions about books, stories about a visit to beloved grandchildren (what a concept, grandchildren who have access to their maternal grandmother!), pet stories, plans for a virtual road trip and snark on KK.

Hasn't KK said more than once that she just LOVES hot weather and that she enjoys running in it? She really cannot keep her lies straight, can she?

------------------

Not taking Kate's side here, BUT, while she said she likes hot weather and enjoys running in it, there is a difference between hot and humid, and the humidity has been brutal. It takes you down as soon as you walk outside. You could cut it with the proverbial knife. I don't want to walk in it, much less run in it, and I imagine that for even a so-called runner like Kate, it's just a bit too much.

OK I need to seriously vent her about Khate and her piss poor narcissistic self. My almost one year old niece is waiting for surgery date.

This is her 3rd surgery and her second heart surgery. Khate has no freaking clue about how lucky she is to have 8 healthy children!

I get so frustrated when she whines constantly about how exhausting it is to have them. Well Khate you *** try dealing with a child with 22q syndrome and all that entails then ask me for sympathy! Step out of your own little "all mine" and consider those who are not so fortunate and actually do something!

Someone pass the rumspringa and make it a double!

Jackie Hoffman, the radio person, apparently was the one who organized this event. She was tweeting to Kate back in January about it. Kate gave her usual answer to email her with more info.

Jackie and her friend were also tweeting Kate about her running back then too. They kept on tweeting that she shouldn't run alone, that they're only 20 min. away(sound like Stephanie), and would gladly run with her.

Then in March, Jackie started tweeting Kate about appearing on her radio show. I guess she finally wore Kate down or Julie Carson May figured it would be good PR for Kate, because Kate finally appeared on the radio show in July, where she stated that Kate would be running in the race.

Kate had almost 2 months to promote it-and she failed at doing so.

When you arrange a run the first week in September it's a pretty sure bet it will be hot and human. She runs in blistering hot weather all the time and never complained.

I just don't understand why she thinks it's appropriate to complain anyway. It makes her sound ungrateful and takes the focus off the kids who are part of this charity. She doesn't seem to understand the proper response no matter how hot it is or how much you wanted to vomit, is I had a wonderful time, and then name the charity and direct people how to donate.

I think a good comparison is actually a wedding. The day is supposed to be about the bride and groom. You don't go to a wedding and complain it was hot and you wanted to vomit. You say you had a great time even if you didn't. You ask how the bride and groom are. Just like you don't go to a charity event and make it all about you and your complaints.

I compare this blog to chatting with friends. We go off topic now and then about common interests or to share stories or woes, jokes, recipes, have a bit of fun with virtual events, whatever. Kate does not always hold our interest 24/7 (surprised?)

Scroll on by!! What's so hard about that? If there's enough of interest her for you, please stay. If not, hope you find another place that you enjoy.

I have especially enjoyed the Farmer's Wife thread and Abby & Brittany. Thanks Admin. You're cool <3

It's hot, but I don't know about human!:) You expect this humidity on August, but at this time in September, not so much. Not this bad. The humidity this week has been worse than I can remember it. I don't usually mind it, but honestly, this was horrible. The dogs didn't even want to go outside. I saw some kids on the track team at the high school running yesterday and they really didn't look well. There is a big difference between running in blistering hot weather and running in the humidity we had here this week. I'm with her on this one. Gasp.

Wouldn't you feel like vomiting if you are dehydrated after running? She really is not as healthy as she makes people think. And doesn't coffee make you go to the bathroom more? And if it's so hot and humid, why is her hair down? I think her running days will end as soon as Rock n Roll Marathon stops backing her. Another fail for Kate. Such a liar and whiner.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

TLC stinks, you are so right!! I didn't even pick up on that with the hair. There is no way in hot, humid weather that I could have my hair down, especially if I was running. I would have it up in a ponytail, twisted on top of my head in a bun, etc.

The fact that it is down is telling. She either ran with it like that (which I don't think she did). More likely, she took it down and patched up her makeup for pictures. It just shows that she wasn't there for the real event and the kids that it helps, it was all about Kate. As if we didn't know that already.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Yes I would also feel like vomiting if I weren't drinking enough water, had sticky long hair down my neck, AND only had 3 ounces of fish and a few handfuls of vegetables the night before.

It's only a 5k, it's not normal to feel like vomiting. That would be more expected for a half or full marathon, but not a 5k.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Lancaster I'm going to have to disagree with you, I lived in PA for several years, not far at all from Kate, and it was frequently quite humid in September. You were guaranteed at least several humid days well into September. A place like that it's just silly not to expect pretty much anything in September at a run--from pouring rain to awful heat and humidity to even a cold spurt.

You know what I don't understand is in real life if friends are talking about something that doesn't interest you, you either don't say anything, or chime in anyway and add something to it to be polite, or just politely excuse yourself. When in real life do you stomp your foot and whine like a child about how they are not discussing what you want? But in blog land it's okay to do that. :) It's just weird. That would be me. You're welcome! I like the deep dish corn pie, but the one made in the glass pie dish tastes the same. There are so many recipes out there, and that was the only one I could find that was similar to the way I make it. I never use a recipe! I just watched my mother make it, and I remember when I was a teenager she'd have me prepare it because she said that the time will come when she won't be here, and I'd be hungry for one. She was right.

I might have been posting as "Over In Berks" at the time. I don't remember when I changed it (due to several Berks posters on here. It was getting confusing). Happy eating!

TLC -- Yes, dehydration can make you feel sick. I certainly hope KK drank Gatorade or Pedialyte of something similar rather than her everpresent caffeine fix. She particularly needs sodium and potassium rather than a diuretic which will cause her to lose more.

I know!!! Right?

I just hate it when people try to be helpful and post about recipes or household tips (yay, vinegar!), or interesting books to read.

It completely burns my britches when people have fun and don't take themselves too seriously and come up with zany and witty things to say.

I despise hearing about all kinds of wonderful and interesting places around the world.

It just fries my fanny to hear stories about loving families and their interactions and traditions.

It is so annoying reading about our military families and getting a better insight into the sacrifices they make for our country.

It makes me so mad when people reach out to others because they, or a family member, are not well, or they have lost a loved one, or they are going through a very difficult time, and they need a sympathetic ear.

Grrrrr. Yes, I completely understand why you no longer want to read here. It may be more to your liking to find a blog where, even though people swear at each other, and insult each other, and are rude and crude, they always stay on topic.

P.S. I guess this means you won't be joining us on our virtual journey to California.

P.S.S. I call shotgun! ☺

Parent in Lancaster Co, I hear you about the thick, pea soup air we've had. It moved to your area after it passed through here. By doctor's orders I am not allowed to go outside when it's over 85 degrees F. But my breathing is better at 99 degrees than it is in high
humidity. I simply can do nothing, and my supplemental oxygen does nothing to help it.
It spells death to me, and I cannot imagine running in it.

It really is terrible here. I like summer weather, too, but this past week or so has been brutal. It honestly is too humid to go for a walk, let alone a run. We had 100 degree days with the heat index of 106 this summer that really weren't as bad as this past week with the high humidity. I didn't mind it too much then, but it did bother me this week.

With the storms going through right now, hopefully this will cool off. I see that lows this coming week will be in the 40s and 50s. Good sleeping weather!

Guys and gals,

I need some sympathy... see my lower lip protruding pitifully....

I just CANNOT get used to the taste of sauteed spinach or kale. I keep trying. Really trying hard, and I *make* myself choke it down. Yuckity yuck yuck!

Strangely enough I like fresh, raw spinach in salads and pitas.

What is it that makes a food taste so bad cooked and so good fresh?

I'm the same way with tomatoes. Cannot stand tomato sauce or cooked tomatoes but I'll eat a bushel of fresh toms with a tad of salt.

I hope I am not the only one who has these pesky little food quirks. I know I'm not, but I sure hate sauteed spinich night around here.

Poor me, poor me. LOL

Telling the truth here: I know how lucky I am to have food - money to buy it, land to grow it, appliances to cook it and I should focus on those facts.... but I still cannot hardly get it down.

I guess I'm just a spoiled brat.

Reading back, now this is a truly pathetic post, isn't it? ha ha...

Don't worry, we won't have any sauteed spinach or kale on our road trip..... fresh yes, cooked NO!

Formerly Duped, I too am in the N suburbs west of the City (think cookie). We might even be neighbors!

Nora-Ann is actually in North Carolina at Ft. Bragg. Both her momma (my niece) and nephew in law are Army although Carolyn had to dropped out when Nora was diagnosed with 22q. I wish she was here but one of the leading doctors in this syndrome is at Duke so a higher power must have had a hand in their being sent there.

I was shocked to read that after Downs (1 in 800 births) 22q is the second most common genetic (1 in 2000 births) but often goes undiagnosed. They discovered her heart defect at her 4 week check up and although she's almost a year old and weighs only 16 pounds she is meeting all her milestones so we hope for no other issues besides her heart and lungs.

Thanks for everyone's prayers.

Hey, I love the Kate snark too. But there are just so many ways to say the same thing over and over. The OTs are a good diversion every now and then. And if I don't enjoy a particular OT, I just scroll on by!

As for Kate's run today, I understand about humidity, but isn't a 5K just about 3 miles? Wouldn't a true runner be able to handle that? I don't think she runs as much as she claims to. A 5K is a piece of cake for someone who runs all the time. JMO...

Hmmm, spinach with provolone in a pita... that does sound good.

We sauteed ours tonight with a purple pepper (like green but purple, never had one before, great taste), red onions, mushrooms, a little olive oil, red pepper flakes, some mirin at the end when I add the spinach.

Actually, it isn't really the taste, it's the wet slimy drippiness that turns me off.

Head slap here - I guess I *could* drain it and pat it dry....

Call me, that provolone addition does sound good. I might try grilling the pita, adding the provolone to melt it, adding fresh baby spinach leaves and a couple slices of ripe tomato.

OK, that is tomorrow's lunch. Call me, THANK YOU!

Can't believe I misspelled "spinich" in post 189. See, pouting ruins your brain, ha ha.

Permanent Name, as far as I'm concerned, the only vegetables that should be cooked are corn, beets, potatoes and parsnips. Heat should never touch most vegetables unless they are stir fried for an Asian dish and then they must emerge from the wok in crispy form. That is the rule in my house.

The reason that rule was created is because my dear mother, whom I loved and respected, could not properly cook vegetables. They came out as mush every time. I despised vegetables growing up, and eventually my SIL suggested Mom offer me some raw vegetables. That was the ticket!

So I hear you about the spinach. I don't eat kale anyway it's offered, but I do hear you on
the spinach subject.
