Study: Lying makes you happier

Not that this is a big surprise, but here goes:

On April 7 Kate tweeted this:

“@XXXX you're so energetic miss gardener:) tomorrow we plant our organic veges inside then will move outside when they sprout yay!”

However today, when someone asked if she had a garden, she tweeted this:

"no but my kids seem to think we need one"

Oh no she didn't!

According to studies, small embellishments can have positive psychological effects. In a 2008 study, researchers found that college students who exaggerated their GPA in interviews later showed improvement in their grades. Their fiction, in other words, became self-fulfilling. "Exaggerators tend to be more confident and have higher goals for achievement," said Richard Gramzow, a psychologist at the University of Southampton in England and one of the study's coauthors. "Positive biases about the self can be beneficial." People who deceive themselves also tend to be happier than people who do not, some research suggests. There are social payoffs, too: Studies have shown that people who lie frequently are viewed as friendlier and more amiable than their more truthful counterparts.

Kate's web of lies has caught up with her time and time again, and yet something keeps driving her to keep on spinning them. Is it because it makes her happier to put up such a facade?

I think it works for her because when she sleeps "in" she stays up later the night before. On those 5:30 a.m. mornings, she often tweets that she's headed for bed around 9 or so. She said GN around 11 tonight.

Iroquois,

The apple torts sound delish, but do you have any recipe for peach torts?

They make my toes tingle and cause me to lose all inhibitions. I moan and drool and make facial tics; I've also been known to eat the whole tort, mostly late at night after DH goes to bed.

He is pretty confused when he finds the tort plate washed and put away before he gets up in the morning. I just act confused when he cross examines me.

Ms Manners just hates it when I have peach torts. It makes her job so much harder... sigh...

Sound familiar?

In a new interview with TMZ.com, Seal claims the German supermodel was cheating on him with bodyguard Martin Kristen.

"Look, boys, you know that's what happens when two people separate. They move on and that generally means other people in their lives. I certainly don't expect Heidi to all of a sudden become a nun. But as always my main priority is the emotional wellbeing of our children," he said. "To be quite honest, if there is going to be somebody else in their lives, I'd much rather it was a familiar face. I guess the only thing I would have preferred is that... Whilst I didn't expect any better from him, I would have thought Heidi would have shown a little bit more class... before deciding to fornicate with the help, as it were."

The model filed for divorce this year and was pictured last week on a beach in Sardinia with a man believed to be Kristen. She was seen topless and reclining on a sunlounger with the man looking on adoringly.

Klum massaged suncream into her tattooed companion's shoulders while they took a dip and later floated around on a lilo.

No way would the kids sit through all those baby DVDs- maybe a few minutes, but, really. Kate is forcing them back into babyhood with her accomplice Mady and trying to turn back the clock..or maybe generate interest among her 'fans' that the show COULD go on, things are just the same.

This could seriously stunt the kids' emotional development. Will she resurrect the bibs and highchairs, 4 hour naps and sippy cups soon?

Halt! Stop, thief!

Hubby's truck was stolen this weekend. Rural comedy...of a sort.

60 miles away from our farm a man on probation got into a fight and needed to flee a party. The "nut on drugs" stole a riding mower and roared down a country road until he he ran out of gas. His next brilliant move was to steal a COMBINE. (Size of a small garage, top speed of a new model 20 mph.) He drove the large equipment 60 miles until he abandoned it in a grassy front yard of a farmhouse about 2 miles from us.

Get-away-guy was now on foot deep in the country. His lucky day! He almost tripped over hubby's truck parked on the edge of a corn field. Hubby was near by, mowing around a sun flower field when his truck disappeared.

Obviously, everyone leaves keys in the ignitions around here.

Hubby's truck was recovered by OnStar. It was only 8 miles from our home, but close to the home of the thief. Hubby is missing some cash, a jacket, a canister of mixed nuts, credit cards, driver's license, and his FOID card.

"Nut" is still on the loose in the general vicinity. He was almost caught trying to steal a dump truck yesterday.

In a courtroom I was in for a couple years when the court reporter missed something he would hold up his hands and say "wait, wait, wait!" And then look at the judge helplessly. Then the judge would make us go back and repeat everything slowly.

Hehe, you guys crack me up. I'm loving the courtroom related banter. Anyone got dibs on "Contempt of Court" yet?

As for Kate not being aware that TLC was selling Gosselin merchandise, I call BS. I just can't believe she was oblivious to that.

I think it just makes her (in her own mind of course) look less stupid to say she didn't know than to say, "Yeah, but I was in such a hurry to sell my children I didn't bother negotiating a cut."

It's just a way to blame the big bad corporation. Let's not forget that it was Kate herself who made a video and shopped it around to various media outlets.

It's not like a TLC exec just happened to get wind of the Gosselins and thought they'd be perfect for a reality show.

She actively pursued the project so she can't go back now and say that TLC blindsided her.

Whatever she lost out on, she did so because of ignorance and greed. Too bad, so sad.

Karma, mayhaps?

FYI said...

Dwindle-just want to clarify that it wasn't me that asked those questions. I didn't want to type the person's real name. I think that maybe where it said "transfers being covered by talent" means that they are paying their own travel expenses to and from the venue, but I could be wrong. Why the guy didn't say it in play English in suspect-but then maybe he's practicing Katespeak so he can communicate with her when he meets her.

By the way, seems like your enjoying that site of legal terms I posted.

I agree with you. Her tweeties keep asking her what she has planned, what she and the kids are doing, wishing her and the kids a great weekends. But so far she has only come up with watching videos. She mentioned one or 2 conversations she had with the kids, but that does not mean she had them the same day she tweeted about them. Even moreso, the watching of the videos could have been at a totally different time, too.

She mentioned going out to dinner Fri. night, and running errands on Sat. No mention of where the kids were.

She never mentions any more when the kids are with Jon-last time she did that I think was July 4(when she lied about it being her first summer holiday without them). She wants to give the impression that she has the kids all the time now, rather than answer any questions about the 50/50 custody. And of course, her fans totally believe her implications.

Even if he didn't want to be in the limelight as much, being MARRIED was her bread and butter. Not being a hypocritical tabloid magnet who couldn't keep her hundreds of lies and contradictions straight. She killed "the brand." She lets her obsessive need for control rule her life and to that I say "how's that workin' for ya, Kreider??!!!!!"

Either that or I can be the Google Expert Witness who presents web pages with information pertinent to the trial provided by experts in the field. I have some bifocal glasses that I can wear low on my nose as I read from the papers.

I will need to connect with the person who draws on the enormous white paper on a stand so we can practice. Who has that duty?

If that's the case that's pathetic. The whole point of having a celebrity attach themselves to an event is to encourage more media attention, paps, fans and attention--and thus bring more money to the charity. The point Kate, is not to keep your appearance as discreet as possible. Help out a charity for once and promote yourself for once.

Tool.

OT since there are so many pet owners here I hope you can offer me an opinion on this. My sister-in-law's black lab has had 2 kidney UTI problems recently and her vet says it's because the dog isn't drinking enough water. She's tried to get him to drink more, but it's tough. He'll happily swim in it, but drinking is a whole other matter lol. Any suggestions? She has heard about pet fountains, but doesn't want to waste money if they don't really work. Thanks!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Tamara, talk to your vet about maybe feeding the dog some wet food, that is a way to get more water. You can also flavor the water with a little chicken or beef broth, but you can't leave the water out for more than a little bit when you do that because it will go bad.

My dog has a weak stomach and throws up a lot so my vet said instead of bringing him in every time to make sure he's hydrated I can try those tricks to keep his hydration up.

But run that all by your vet.

Yes I agree her twitter habits suggest she hasn't had these kids this entire weekend. When she doesn't have the kids she doesn't usually tweet all day....probably out tanning, shopping, sun bathing, getting manicures.

She usually pops back on at night when she's lonely and organizing closets or crying over old videos of the kids.

It's very sad the way she tries to always act like the kids are by her side. Even if the kids WERE home, it's weird--shouldn't they be with friends this long weekend or at least off playing somewhere instead of enabling their mother?

runnin on the highway said...

Tamara (76) wet food is a good idea, and she can add a little water to it to make more "wet". We do that for cats with UTIs. You need to make it soupy, but not so soupy that they notice.

Also, the cost of a fountain seems like less of a gamble if you're trying to ward off an expensive (and painful) UTI.

We got one in stainless steel for our cats, and were kind of dubious, but all of them love it, and drink a LOT of water out of it.

She should get one big enough for her size dog, and also be prepared to change the filter and wash it out completely once a week. Tricky the first couple of times, but then it's simple.

We got the stainless for hygiene reasons, and so we wouldn't crack or break it. The pump is an aquarium pump, and replaceable. If you do the maintenance, it should last just fine. Slacking off on the maintenance is death to the pump.

You also need to check it regularly, and top up the water so that it circulates freely. Our pump needs about two cups a day to keep it and five cats happy. We put ours in the bathroom, with a cup nearby to use for filling it.

Otherwise, you all are hilarious! Love how the road trip just keeps on going, with everything else just passing by. All the fun here kind of makes Kate's little Norma Desmond pity party seem even sadder -- but now that this blog's so much fun, you can't say that KK hasn't done some good in the world!

1. She won't show and do the event.

I don't think she is paying anything. Those are some weaselly words there, and that "she's giving her time" is very suspect.

"The talent" may mean that SOME talent is paying. I don't believe Kate is one. She wouldn't do it.

MAYBE she's getting herself to the event, but no way she isn't expecting others to comp her with the hotel and meals. If she is assuming that meals come with the hotel, and they don't, there'll be hell to pay when she finds out.

She isn't about to do anything, even promote herself, unless someone else is bankrolling it.

Re Strasburg, it makes sense to have him on a limited pitch count this year, since he's just recovering from Tommy John surgery. They don't want to rush him back and ruin him the way the Reds did Edinson Volquez.
However, it would make more sense to limit him now and leave something there for the post season, rather than shutting him down completely, which is what I understand they are planning to do.

I guarantee the reason KK is doing this "runway" thing is because she's getting a free stay in NYC out of it, and is hoping to grift some free publicity for herself. If she weren't getting the free hotel stay, I'd bet the 8's (non-existent) college funds she'd not do it. There's nothing "amazing" about her agreeing to appear.

I think in this case it's more likely to be "no organic discount groceries". I think she lied about the amount of groceries, the size of the cart(s) and the number of dollars she spent.

She can't tweet the name of the grocery because too many people would call her out. A whole bunch of us know exactly what's available on the grocery shelves in her area.

I agree.

She is grifting some "Alone" time with Steve in NYC at no cost to her. She has grifted a free hotel night(s)and meals while her kids are with the Nanny or Jon.(And she will never admit or give credit to either the Nanny or Jon for their loving care of the kids BY THEMSELVES WITH NO OTHER HELP while she is gone.)

So her ONLY expense as I understand is that she has to cover her own "transfers". Wow, I guess we should be impressed that she is going to pay for her own gas when Steve drives her all the way from PA to NYC. Truly impressive and amazing (snark).

From what I read the organization still did not answer the question about who is paying for Steve's fee and travel expenses.

Nor did they answer the question about Kate grifting FREE clothing from the designers when I would hope all clothing should be going to the charity.

Overall, I am not impressed with her "donating her time" nor do I believe she is a "strong woman who believes in this cause". And Kate "doing something amazing", sorry, can't type, I am laughing too hard....
