Study: Lying makes you happier

Not that this is a big surprise, but here goes:

On April 7 Kate tweeted this:

“@XXXX you're so energetic miss gardener:) tomorrow we plant our organic veges inside then will move outside when they sprout yay!”

However today, when someone asked if she had a garden, she tweeted this:

"no but my kids seem to think we need one"

Oh no she didn't!

According to studies, small embellishments can have positive psychological effects. In a 2008 study, researchers found that college students who exaggerated their GPA in interviews later showed improvement in their grades. Their fiction, in other words, became self-fulfilling. "Exaggerators tend to be more confident and have higher goals for achievement," said Richard Gramzow, a psychologist at the University of Southampton in England and one of the study's coauthors. "Positive biases about the self can be beneficial." People who deceive themselves also tend to be happier than people who do not, some research suggests. There are social payoffs, too: Studies have shown that people who lie frequently are viewed as friendlier and more amiable than their more truthful counterparts.

Kate's web of lies has caught up with her time and time again, and yet something keeps driving her to keep on spinning them. Is it because it makes her happier to put up such a facade?

I'm not a kitchen gadgetty person, but I LOVE my slow cooker. It's a 3 qt. Rival, the bottom part can be used as a griddle, and if it ever goes belly up, I'll be lost. When I was working a 10 hour day, plus a 2 hour round trip commute, I could chop up veggies, etc. the night before, put them in the bowl of the slow cooker and refrigerate overnight, then take it out of the fridge and turn it on before I left for work in the morning. When I got home, I'd have a nice soup or stew or pot roast all ready to eat. Much better than a frozen dinner or a trip through a fast food drive through. Nowadays, I start it up before I go to bed and next day's dinner (or lunch, or both) is all ready for me the next morning. Right now, I have a pot of fresh-picked green beans cooking up with a ham butt, some onions and a few potatoes. I'll get a couple of meals out of it and some to freeze for this winter.

REAL FASHION REAL WOMEN 2012!!!!!!
Posted on August 22, 2012 by real0918
Celebrity stylist and media personality Derek Warburton along with Bottomless Closet are proud to host the “Real Fashion Real Women” fashion show September 12th at The Empire Hotel!! Bottomless Closet clients are diverse New York City women motivated to advance their professional lives. They will serve as our runway models, styled in looks from the top designers of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! And

believe us, they are FIERCE!!!

For the second consecutive year, we are casting 21 REAL New York women from Bottomless Closet to bring REAL fashion to the runway, walking alongside 5 celebrity women in the “REAL FASHION, REAL WOMEN” runway show. These women, are sizes 2-12, and ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! They prove that not only do fashion designers design with glamour in mind, but that our industry cares about its real consumer… the women who wear the clothes!

http://realfashionrealwomen.com/

Can't quite figure out what this is; real women modeling beside "celebs" I guess.

It's a crummy looking website.

Also notice the skimpy food. One of the 8 divided plates didn't even have a sandwich on it.
Each kid only got:
1/2 of a hamburger bun egg salad sandwich
1/2 deviled egg
a few chips (?)
a few orange things (carrots?)
egg custard
------------------
The ridiculously small portion sized 'meals' started because the kids had to eat and re-eat, and re-eat again, for the show to get enough footage to use. It's horrible that Khate turned that into a normal meal size.

Kate just slides from one gig until she is almost at the end of her 'fame' then another stupid job appears. seems to keep her happy in her delusional mind.

She might be good for a 'bottomless' closet look, lol.

So is Kate a real woman or a celebrity? Or neither?

Does the show include hooker wear for NYC's best dressed beck and call girls?

One of my favorite kitchen "gadgets" is my thawing tray.

I have a small one that is just a thawing tray. I have a large one that is actually a reversible stove-top griddle/grill.

It's good for thawing flat cuts of meat, like chicken cutlets, steaks, fish or even ground meat.

I don't like to thaw my meat on the counter for obvious reasons. I also don't like it to thaw in the fridge because things come up or we end up eating out, etc.

Anyway, I can defrosting meat in 20-40 minutes. It's really handy.

I read one of the "Real Women's" stories. Seems she had a great job and the company got involved with some illegal activity. She was fired, did several P/T jobs to make it. Now, somehow, this Derek and his exhibitionb are supposed to get her moving back to the corporate job level. Wardrobe is part of that.
Maybe the celebs model the designer's duds and the women pick what they like? I don't know, it's just an idea.

I know of several places that accept really good business wear for women who cannot afford
appropriate clothing for the job - even Goodwill prives are above some's ability. So this might be a fancy NY version of that.

The Tanning Mom, Pat something, was the guest of honor at her own comedy roast the other night. She arrived with her pot belly crammed into a tiny dress, posed on the 'red carpet' for a minute hiking the dress up to show photogs her crotch and then tried to have sex with the wall behind her before falling down. This was all before she even entered the venue. Once inside, she lasted 7 minutes before folks were literally hollering for security to remove her. On top of being incoherent, she was pretty intent on displaying her crotch. She fell down at least 4 times in the clip I saw.

My point is, lots of events invite someone for the train wreck freak show of it all, and Kate will continue to get these kinds of things tossed her way. So will Tanning Mom.

Somehow I can't feature KK on the runway. She's so awkward and slump-shouldered. I hope they give her some tips on dressing in a becoming and age-appropriate manner. I think she could be striking if she learned how to stand and move and how to dress to flatter her figure. I note that they say real women sizes 2 - 12. Guess you can't be a real woman or wear the clothes if you're more than a size 12.

Wow... some of Kate's tweeties, are just downright nasty individuals. One of the Sheeple in particular, has strayed away from the flock and gone rogue. (Rhymes with Blog Hog-- Give her hell, SG! ;)

I never got around to activating my new Twitter, after Kreidy had my original account suspended, for calling her out on her lies. My new plan was to target (hee-hee) the companies she runs the grift on. For instance, Katie sends a tweet to Quilted Northern begging for TP and... Oh yeah, that already happened. Squashed! It must have pissed her off royally to read the response from Georgia Pacific, after the public outcry.

She's been tweeting like a tween, for the past few days. She should strap on a pair of those hooker heels, get out and take a trip to the Tractor Store. She said it was filled with MEN! Go there and get one, Katie. How fun for the helper lady to do the cleaning- while Kate sits on her flat butt, tweeting all day long.

I have been kinda upset with Goodwill & some of the other "charity" thriftstores for the last few years. I have several older kids & since garage sales around here start & end too early for me, that's where I buy most of our clothes. Some of the junkiest, worn out, messed up stuff sells for ridiculous prices. (Seriously - stuff that should've been used for rags.) And then decent things are selling for equally ridiculous prices.
Yesterday, I was there with my one teenager & after he saw a run-of-the-mill baseball cap going for almost $8.00, he asked me, "I thought this store was for people who didn't have a lot of money?"
I'll still go there, because most of the time, it's still better than retail, but it's kinda depressing trying to stretch your dollar these days sometimes. :/

Yes! I dropped some things off at a consignment shop and thought I'd look to see if there was anything of interest I could use. They had some Gymboree clothing, as well as Children's Place and Carter's, and the USED items in poor condition were several dollars more than new ones on sale at the retail stores. People buy them because they think they are saving money.

I stopped at the Good Will store out on Route 30. I sometimes check their household items because you can find new things, such as Christmas wreaths, candles, boxed bowl sets at reasonable prices, but many of those items seem to be over priced, too. I guess it's hit or miss. You never know what's going to be there.

I don't remember Kate preparing Ol' Gramma's soup, I remember her stirring it. I don't remember Kate preparing chicken cacciatore, I remember her stirring the simmering pan and sticking it in the oven. She stirs well.

I do remember her making Monkey Munch, making pancakes (Henry's recipe) and putting waffle
batter into the wafflemaker, and doing her undercooked chicken (twice!), but that's about it.

It was the Korean meal episode where I decided I was finished with the show. I wanted to call
Jon and invite him to come live with me in a
very friendly, platonic relationship environment. I think we could be friends.

What I remember about the chicken cacciatore was that she served it the divided prison trays with half a cob of corn each. Why not use a proper plate or bowl for such a meal? I remember the kids had terrible manners (sorry), picking their food with their hands, but then I don't think they had knives. One burped I think. Kate's manners as mentioned are never good- she leans forward over her food and shovels it in.

I think she can cook meals like any mom, but is no gourmet extraordinaire.

___

The children's consignment shops around me ONLY deal in high end clothes. They won't even take Kohl's clothes.

It was cheaper for me to buy the $5 shorts/t-shirts from Target.

And you would not believe the headache I had trying to donate my son's baby stuff (high chair, stroller, exersaucer, etc.) It was next to impossible, no one wanted them. I ended up giving them to a really poor local charity that offered shelter for women/children of domestic violence. And they were happy to take them!! But the others: NO WAY. I was beyond frustrated. What, I'm going to throw away a perfectly good Graco high chair and stroller???

Still burns me, sorry for the rant. I hate waste.

Yes, I'm still here. Due to work issues, we are leaving at 5:00AM tomorrow. Hopefully, we won't have to deal with rain for the entire 6 hour drive.

I haven't read all of the posts yet, but I just wanted to comment on Dwindle's post on the previous page.

Dwindle, I know exactly what you mean about close friends being like family. My hub's best friend (for over 35 years!) is family. My daughter considers his 3 daughters and 1 son her cousins. Heck, the kids grew up together! My daughter calls my best friend her "second mom" and she grew up with her 3 kids as well.

My brother also will come over with friends because we know them so well from all of the parties at my brothers home. We also have close friendships with families at our church. All of these people were there for my daughter's junior high and high school graduation, her baby shower, many came to her wedding in Iowa, etc. We have also attended all of the parties for the milestones in their kids' lives. It's just the way it is.

I cannot comprehend being as secluded from family and close friends as Kate keeps her children. I know our lives are much richer because of these relationships, and it's so sad that Kate's kids will never experience that. It seems like everyone in their lives is just a temporary acquaintance that mommy will cut off sooner or later for one reason or another.

Okay, rant over because I have to finish packing!

LoveMyGrandsons said...

In my previous post, I forgot to mention the close relationships we have with some of our neighbors. Again we celebrate at their homes and they celebrate at ours. I don't understand how one can be part of a community and not have close relationships, or not even associate with, their neighbors.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Also it's only two weeks away isn't the point to create buzz and announce the celebs as soon as possible? Get people excited about this or that celeb? Get their NYC area fans to go? If Kate Gosselin is all they could find sounds like they're on page 12 of their celeb wish list.

Not buying it.

Kate tweeted a while ago that M and C take care of the 'littles' showers. IMO at age 8, they should be able to manage on their own. There's really not a lot Kate needs to do that other moms don't, regardless of having EIGHT kids.

&&&

With a nanny, tutor and housekeeper? No, absolutely not.

As far as I can tell instead of cooking four chicken breasts, she has to toss in the whole package. That's the only difference. With all that extra help exactly what is so hard about eight kids as opposed to two? I bet a mom of an only child does more work than she does.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Warmth of the Sun said "Size 12 is hardly plus size."

Unfortunately, many stores/manufacturers/designers consider anything larger than a size 8 "plus size". I went shopping with a friend a couple of weeks ago. She's really tiny - about 5' tall and weighs about 110#. We were sent to the "women's" department to find a pair of jeans for her. She needed a size 10. I expect to be sent there for clothing for myself -- unfortunately, LOL -- but she's so far from a plus size it's not funny.

readerlady said...

Admin -- The sad thing is she only cooks 4 or 5 chicken breasts for those 8 kids. She actually bragged about it on her twitter. I don't remember exactly when it was -- sometime in the past 6 months or so, I think -- and I don't have a clue how to look for the tweet. Maybe one of the savvier posters can find it?

LoveMyGrandsons said...

OT - I should be in bed, but I'm so excited to leave that I can't sleep. However, my sweet hubs is already asleep and he'll be doing the driving so I'll be able to sleep on the way there. He prefers it that way because then I don't watch the speedometer. Lol!!

Anyway, I went to our neighbors a little bit ago and gave them the rest of our eggs, milk, cheese, and fresh veggies, because it wouldn't last for the 9 days we will be gone. We also asked them to water the boys' pumpkins while we are gone and told them to go into our garden and pick whatever they want so the fresh veggies don't spoil.

Our next door neighbors are more like family than neighbors and they always watch our home when we go on vacation. And when they go on vacation, we reciprocate. However, we get the better end of the deal! When they watch our home, they get to pick the veggies from our garden. When they go on vacation (they don't have a garden), they make us wonderful El Salvador papoosas (sp?)!! They are delicious! And she makes this wonderful "cabbage salad" to top the papoosas with. She always makes this for me for my birthday. She is going to teach me how to make this when we get back. She told me it's a time-consuming process to make papoosas. I told her then it's best that she just keeps making them because after all, she is the expert! Lol!!

I've bought and sold things there a lot over the years. We got our $400 trampoline for $75 and the cost of a new net, so $150 total. Someone had had it for 2 years and needed to get rid of it quickly. Same thing for our playset. Normally $1100 at Costco but we got it for $300 and some minor repair by my husband.

The "Kate" lie that really stands out to me is when she said in an interview (People?) that Jon asked for the divorce. IIRC, I believe she said something like that in one of the couch interviews. Then, in another magazine interview, she said that she was on an airplane and had an "epiphany" and knew that the marriage was over and she told Jon that.

She played the poor, wronged wife for quite awhile before her "epiphany", and no reporter who interviewed her ever asked about this. Unbelievable how inept these so called "reporters" are.

I think the bottom line of their agenda is "Leave Kate Alone" waaaa, sniffles...and that's it.

And you would not believe the headache I had trying to donate my son's baby stuff (high chair, stroller, exersaucer, etc.) It was next to impossible, no one wanted them.

I think the thing with baby items like this is that so many of them have been recalled, and shops have to make certain they comply with safety codes because of liability issues. I know it's frustrating, and sometimes even social services shelters won't take them.

I don't believe for one second that Jon "asked" for the divorce. Kate would have told him if you want it, go ahead and get a lawyer and file. Kate was the one who filed, it was her call.

From everything I've read and heard, Jon was perfectly willing to stick the marriage out and try some serious counseling. We know for a FACT he went to counseling with LaFaire. It was Kate who refused and subsequently filed.

silimom, by me we have a St.Vincent de Paul's resale shop and another resale just called Thrift Store. The places are neat and organized and most clothing is $3-$4 dollars an item. Kids clothing is even cheaper. It's good quality because I've bought a few things for myself and my daughter and grandkids.

If there is one near you, you should check it out.

Admin, that was my point. Jon didn't ask for divorce. Kate wanted it when Jon wasn't willing to go along with the scam anymore.

I can't believe that Kate will be walking down a runway. When she was running in NY with the ice cream cones her posture was atrocious. Imagine what walking in her hooker heels with her toes hanging out, no PB there to hold her up or to urge her on. I just hope someone is able to video her.

I went back and watched the video of Kate grilling. All it showed was Kate turning the chicken pieces, which were already on the grill.

Not to say that she didn't do all the cooking, and they just didn't show it....but we didn't see her mixing together the spices for the rub, or the marinating sauce. We didn't see her getting the chicken out of the packages and marinating them, carry the plate out to the grill, and load up the grill.

It's certainly implied that *she* did all those things, but since it wasn't shown, and it IS the realest of real....hmmm....

Oh, yes! I've found some great Gymboree items, brand new with tags, for ninety-nine cents and free shipping (retail $36). You just have to know how to be a savvy shopper on there!

"I just went by there today on the way to somewhere else & was thinking of stopping by on the way back, but went back home a different way. Oh well, guess I'm gonna have to try to get up earlier on the weekends & see if I can find some good garage sales! :D"

Same here! Traffic was a nightmare, but I had to get some kids' shoes at one of the outlet stores, buy one, get one half off. Maybe we passed each other along the way! From my experience with expectant mothers, they just wanted new stuff, and to be able to pick out exactly what they wanted. You dont get to do that with gently used items. My best friend was like- she actually returned almost everything from her baby shower because it wasn't what she would have picked out herself and she HAD to have what she wanted. Heaven forbid if the nursery isn't 100% matching. You made a good point about the recalls though.

Ya'll, please do not take pity on those of us who don't get together with family for holidays.
It's not so bad until I read people saying how utterly sad it is.

I grew up without a grandparent on either side,
had no aunts or uncles or cousins, either. I had a happy childhood. And now, I am the survivor of my birth family. I have a happy life.

I know you are talking about Kate, but it also speaks to me about how pitiful I must be because I sit home on some holidays. I am not sad, I don't feel like I'm missing out, I'm not
unhappy to have no plans. Actually, I enjoy my holidays just the way they are.

Warmth -- Yes, the size 10 jeans were in the "womens" (Plus size) department. I buy a lot of my clothes through the WomanWithin Catalog (they're affiliated with Lane Bryant). Most of their clothing starts at a size 12. They also have a size small, which is about the equivalent of a Medium in most clothing lines. I love them because they have "petite" length slacks, jeans, skirts and dresses. It's so nice to be able to buy a pair of pants and not have to hem them a foot before I can wear them. If you're of the "short" persuasion and wear a size 12 or larger, I highly recommend their clothing. It's well-made, reasonably priced, and they have a lot of variety in styles and colors.

Okay, since no one else is posting, I'll post something silly (too many rumspringas, I guess).

At work we have a "Fun Employee Survey" board. Questions are posted like what was your favorite vacay, favorite food, etc.

Well, every question I answered and included my grandsons in it. For instance, fav hot dog toppings: I wrote ketchup with extra dill pickles is my grandsons favorite. Fav season, I wrote winter because my grandsons and I love to have snowball fights and build snowmen, etc.

So, the Human Resources manager got a kick out of these comments and said she was going to test me to see if she could come up with questions that I couldn't relate to my grandsons. So far I haven't been stumped, but I will admit I've had to do some stretches to handle this! Such as:

Favorite winter olympic sport - toboganning because my grandkids love sledding.

Favorite olympic athlete - Mark Spitz because my grandsons love swimming.

Fun questions, silly answers all in fun. I was told when I come back from vacation, there will be a question on the board that will be difficult to bring my grandsons into. I said I was up for the challenge.

See the comments I make after too many rumspringas?

I had to go back and watch the Korean dinner episode because it was brought up earlier today. So that's where Kate 'uddered' the infamous "If you have to follow a recipe you're not a true cook" statement. I didn't realize that.

She also told Collin "you eat like a pig" and bitched about how long it took Jon to chop an onion. Jon wasn't comfortable because Kate beaked on him relentlessly and he seemed worried about the mess he was making in Kate's kitchen. What a happy family they were. Kate had the nerve to say she didn't want to discourage Jon from cooking. WTH? Then she had a helper Jenny come and watch the kids while she helped Jon get the dinner finished.
Oh yeah - it inspired her to cook Korean for a week afterwards. She will not be outdone. I forgot just how nasty she was to that man.

I googled the Bool Kogi recipe because it looked so good on the show, but Kate didn't want him to share the ingredients. I think I'll make it next week.

Read that again KATE. JON'S FOOD LOOKED AMAZINGLY AWESOME. I'M GOING TO COPY IT. HAHAHAHAHA. And my family will shriek with delight.

"Sheeple are made fun of for thinking the same of Kate."

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Most sheeple are females. Kate's a female. Sheeple may be made fun of for wanting a "relationship" with Kate because many sheeple are teenage girls who are obsessing over a divorced woman with eight kids. It's not normal. Adult female women also are made fun of for thinking the same thing because let's face it, those one or two uber-fans who are hopelessly in love with her are just plain strange. One of them sees herself with Kate, hand in hand, walking off into the sunset together and she's not hesitant about telling Kate of her fantasy. Yes, they are made fun of because it's just so bizarre.

OrangeCrusher1, I live in a neighborhood that is very diverse ethnically. Due to our friendships with the neighbors, I've had wonderful dishes that I never tasted before. They make tacos with thinly sliced seasoned and grilled steak and chicken breast. Their homemade refried beans are to die for!

To reciprocate, we've had some neighbors over on St. Patricks Day and they had their first taste of corned beef and cabbage; they really liked it and took home leftovers.

I've been introduced to many new foods that I've never had before, thanks to my great neighbors. And we have introduced them to new foods as well.
Our BBQs are quite a smorgasbord of different foods, and we love it!

LancasterCounty, by tractor trailers, are you referring to semi trucks? I know there are different terms in different parts of the country and I am not familiar with them.

When we drive to Iowa, we eventually have to get on I-80 for the last 3 and a half hours. That highway is loaded with semi trucks and the way some of them drive scares the heck out of me. I will mention again that my hubs is a truck driver, which is why he drives to Iowa and not me.

To make things worse (in my opinion) the speed limit is 75 miles an hour. In IL it's 55 miles an hour. Needless to say, I prefer to sleep when we are going to Iowa, and my husband prefers I do that as well!

I an glad it is high, that is one big ugly spider! I swear the thing is three inches in diameter."

It IS pretty, isn't it, Joy? I was driving home earlier shortly after it had risen in the early evening sky & wished I could have taken a picture, but my battery wasn't charged.
Those spiders can be quite the stinkers - the other night I went running out the front door to take one of my dogs out & the spider who had just had a web in a corner by the door had decided to take over the whole door! I ran smack into its web. Blech!

I disagree... I think Jon's behavior was... he was taking a stand on stopping the filming! I believe TLC advised her to get rid of him " ie: divorce" and they could continue on with Kate plus 8.

hence Kate had to move quickly, and likely stated that Jons behavior was detrimental to the livlihood of herself and her children. She has crafty lawyers.

No, Jon was not wanting to continue with filming prior to the end of the season. In the episode before the BIG announcement, Jon spoke on the couch about not being just Jon anymore, he was now Jon and Kate plus 8. Kate said she enjoyed the filming, and they had some "ironing" to do!

Jon was already voicing his opinion about not doing another season. They had a few weeks to figure things out. But in tv world those few weeks had already gone by and the divorce was being announced.

Yes, it was later, that Jon actually did put up an order to cease filming.

The Sheeple stalked Jon. They are the reason he quit Twitter. Goody was a total jerk. Tweeting him on a daily basis, although he respectfully asked the public not to discuss his children... or Kate.

My thoughts are- Jon also decided to close his Twitter account, because he does not have time to tweet now with the rumored shared custody.

meagler said...

Fleecing the Sheeple: Thanks for pointing that out, my finger must have hit the wrong key.

Kristine: I think Kate writes her conversations like that, because a lot of the kids do that on facebook or twitter, but usually they have pretty funny conversations. Mady does have a good sense of humor though. I think Kate thinks she's hip and a hit with the tweens so that gives her licence to speak the language!

I have done it once or twice when I have had a pretty funny conversation with my kids ( one where they roll their eyes and say I am lame ..LOL..)but realize to do that too often is then " just not a mom thing to do".

Kate tries to hard to look young and it just makes her look old and desperate.

Prices and interest rates on the OBX are still great, and the rental market is pretty good. We have rented our place enough this year to cover the mortgage, that makes us happy!

JoyinViginia - of course you may borrow the 1980's era heirloom faux ultra suede brown Lazy-Boy recliner/spaceship! I've steam cleaned it, so it's all ready for you. You've made a wise choice in fulfilling your transportation needs :). You'll have the option of purchasing a signed 8 1/2 x 11 glossy of rocket man lifting off. It says "suck It NASA" only $20 for a lasting memory of your journey....

Preparing for the party I decided to bake brownies. Took all day. I began by using the 1980s era heirloom faux ultra suede brown Lazy-Boy recliner/spaceship to travel to South America for the finest, freshest cocoa beans to prepare the sinfully rich chocolate. Next on to Jamaica for superior minimally processed organic sugar. Picked up some kick-ass rum while on the island. A hop over to Mexico for the finest organic vanilla bean pods and organic vanilla extract. Picked some walnuts and shelled them for the brownies. Last stop at a local organic farm to gather some organic free range eggs - strict organic vegetarian fed. I pulled out the butter churn and churned some sweet organic butter. My sack of Bob's all purpose gluten free baking flour was on the counter ready to go.

I mixed all the ingredients in a large bowl carefully, making sure not to over mix. A preheated conventional oven (my new jenn air modular downdraft stove with the interchangeable cooktops - electric coils and radiant cooktop modules plus the grill /griddle bay. Set at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes resulted in the perfect chewey brownies. Recipe made 24 bars, but I carefully cut them into 108 brownies with my wustoff slicing knife. Drizzled the tops with extra dark chocolate.
These will be so good with a cup of Jamaica blue mountain coffee (certified). I can't wait to share them!

All that traveling, prep and baking wore me out, GN lovely ladies!

When I say I'd love to have tea and crumpets with Betty White it doesn't mean I'm really serious about it or intend to write her, tweet her, or otherwise contact her/stalk her to make it happen. It just means I'm fond of her think highly of her think she's funny. Isn't that a common expression? It is here. "I'd love to have him at my table" means you like someone. I get the impression however when some of Kate's fans contact her to try to set something up they are very literal.

I used to get amazing deals on baby toys and clothes ( name brand, Kate!). Just made sure to bleach/wash everything. I know it was also frustrating when consignment shops would not take what I considered great items, like some European clothing for the kids, worn only a couple of times.

Re portion sizes of meat Kate uses for the children, i remember the tweets back and forth, I think with Milo. She said they were eating more meat, up to 3-4 from 2-3 pieces of chicken they used to eat. I'm just having a hard time grasping the idea that 2 chilcken breasts feeds 8 kids! What did she do? Dice them up into really tiny pieces? Mash them? In my family I actually give one piece for each family member, or 2 if they came out smaller than I thought they were. For 8 kids, I would have used 3 or 4 times what Kate uses and have leftovers too!

I came on here because I'm waiting for laundry to finish and wanted to pass the time. Family is sleeping so I have the house to myself!

___

I live in a dev so garage sales are out. I do craigslist, but nobody wants to by used baby stuff. Which I find really odd, as that is where I bought a lot of my stuff (no family, no baby shower, had to buy everything ourselves). I was hunting on a daily basis to get the things we needed because to buy them new was ABSURD. Some items I choose to buy new simply because of wear and tear, like the high chair.

The items I posted with pics were in very good condition, clean, recognizable brands, etc. No takers, EXCEPT for a few drive by emails looking to get the items cheaper, without looking at them. I spoke to FIVE different charities before I could get a taker because of liability. It just sickened me because I was at the point of throwing out $500 worth of items because I couldn't even give them away.

I also found out that even when charities accept baby items, some just throw them directly into the trash.

The whole experience just shows how disposable, consumerist(sp??), litigious we've become. There was not a thing wrong with any of the items. But god forbid someone use it before you. We will die in a plastic covered world.

Hi,

Whenever I feel the urge to take the bait from an invader-type sheeple on this site I remember two expressions from an old Irish friend of mine. The first, is when you realize there is NO way that person will listen to your point of view. I remind myself not to "waste my sweetness on the desert air". The second expression relates to ending a fruitless debate and it's "this fire has burned to the water's edge". Recalling those thoughts, combined with a few deep breaths, keeps me out of the pasture.

Border Collie....I can relate, I am 65 years old and 5' tall. Finding Petite clothing is a nightmare. Because I am short does not mean I want sparkly cat pictures on my t-shits. There seems to be a much better selection in the US, but in Canada, not so much.

The refusal to take baby items just proves my point about how paranoid and litigious we have become. We hear one scary story about a broken high chair tray and a kid falling out and all of a sudden NO MORE USED BABY ITEMS. Now, perfectly decent baby items are in the trash, and mothers on a budget are spending more than they can afford for new things.

I totally agree with Heather, there is nothing wrong with these items.

Well I guess that sheeple sure disappeared quick after we pointed out that it was not Joel who peeled the globe at all, but a girl, and then Kate was tweeting from Parents' Night. it really is hard to understand where they're coming from and sometimes I think they know it full well
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

BOY did I ever notice that! As soon as we told her to reference Kate's own blog post on how the kids all VOTED to proclaim Joel guilty, and how proud Kate was that she berated him, we never heard from that Sheeple again! And just in case sheeple-fingers started twitchin' to post some other nonsense here, Kate poved our points by TWEETING (for the love of heaven) during her children's school event!!!

Boy, is that sheeple's face red!!! But have no fear, she'll be back, full of indignation and name calling and the oh-so-typical 14 year old "You are all so MEAN to me!!!"

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Dwindle the funniest was their insistence Kate is not so bad of a mom and a demand for examples of Kate being a bad mom, but when given an example not just from that day but from that very hour, instead of trying to explain how that's not an example of Kate being a bad mom, reverted back to the mantra LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE! So I guess they agree she's a bad mom, but we should just leave her alone.

So the point of asking for examples was? To point out we should leave her alone?

I am less annoyed with the sheeple as time goes on and more just amused. And agreeing with them is funny.

Re:
Globe-gate and Joel. That was so mean all-round, but what was worse, was that Kate said she promised not to tell anyone that Joel was innocent, if I read that correctly. She said a little girl did the deed, and she apologized to Joel in private, but no mention was made of clearing Joel's name to the others. Maybe she did, but it was not clear. Poor 'Joely,' always the scapegoat.

From Kate's website-

" And I had one last request: I told her that I would not tell anyone else that it was her, but that she needed to quietly go to Joel and apologize for letting him “take the heat” for her because everyone assumed he had been the culprit. She agreed… hugged me really tight and ran off to play…

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Call me Crazy I AGREE.

Formely Duped, not only was that terrible to not clear Joel's name but it's terrible the way she allowed everyone to gang up on him an accuse him with NO EVIDENCE other than a "look"! Good Lord. The kid probably gave the look because he saw it coming again, I'm getting blamed AGAIN. It would be one thing if they dusted for fingerprints and saw his paws, or if Joel's story of where he was when the globe peeling happened didn't add up, or if Joel were the only one who ever played with it, but this piling on poor Joel was based on NOTHING. What a head case to let kids do such a thing.

Why is it that the guilty part gets to remain anonymous, but the innocent party gets to be tarred and feathered and forever remembered by the rest of the kids as the one who peeled the globe. And next time when something goes wrong will they recall Joel's criminal record and probably blame him again.

The whole incident was so mental and anyone who thinks it's okay is mental, period.

There may be nothing wrong with them to the naked eye, but what if you had received a crib that you didn't know was part of a nation-wide recall -- one where the moveable side could collapse and strangle a baby and had caused infant deaths? Or a stroller without a safety latch that could cause a baby to become caught if it folded? Would you want it?

I agree that there are many good, usable items that parents need that may be dumped in the trash, but what if one of those car seats hadn't passed the safety test and didn't tether properly? Is it really worth it when it comes to our children?

But some places so be TOO picky. I had a perfectly good almost new pediatric full mattress that my son didn't like because he said it was too firm. I called one of the homeless shelters to come and get it because I knew they could certainly use it. It was in nearly new condition. I think he only slept on it about a dozen times. According to their regulations, it had to have a tag on it showing it had passed the non-flammable test. The "wording" on the tag wasn't to their liking. I had the warranty card and receipt, which showed it indeed was non-flammable. That wasn't good enough. They refused it. Was I upset? Yes! I never donated to them again because I was so ticked off. I did find an organization that was happy for it.

Midnight when I say there's nothing wrong with "those" items I'm referring to gently used items in like new to good condition. Not some cracked toy or unstable stroller or something. Certain things are probably better to buy new like car seats, but many places now are just refusing to take ANY baby items. That's silly. Of course everything has a shelf life eventually.

Also you know what's funny is after your first child you save your baby stuff for your second and so on children. No one bats an eye about using the same stuff on baby number two or three. But try to give it to someplace else in an effort to help other mothers and oh no we can't take that. There's no difference.
