Jason Duggar's terrifying accident is filmed by his mom and siblings for their show

Michelle Duggar (left) whips out a camera phone right after the accident
After the eleven-year-old could have been killed when he fell 12 feet into an orchestra pit (luckily, he only knocked out some teeth, fractured his jaw, and sprained his knee), his family members' first reactions were to pull out their phones and start filming the aftermath.

The Duggars have gone too far, and need a serious, perhaps permanent, break from documenting every moment of their lives, including accidents and illness (they have also filmed their children going through chicken pox and wisdom teeth removal). Why was making sure this child's serious accident was captured on film the priority?

Actually, John Lennon's killer, Mark David Chapman didn't idolize Lennon. He idolized the theory that if he killed Lennon, he himself would become famous & make a name for himself.

Sad huh? He just was focused on John Lennon because he was all about love & peace & was the "it" person. And because he strolled the streets of NYC with no protection. Chapman knew he could get close.

Chapman has been quoted as saying that if he ever gets out of prison, there is nowhere he can go, he is the man who killed John Lennon, he would have to go into hiding.

Does Kate even let her kids go trick or treating? I recall only a few houses, maybe, yet she lets them eat candy from strangers, huh. Weird.

Even on Halloween, I, like most parents surely go through the candy with a fine tooth comb, making sure the wrappers are on tight & we throw away any that are torn. And apologies to the folks out there that put together the "goodie bags", we toss those as well, except for the few exceptions of the neighbors we know personally.

But come on Kate, seriously? If my son received anything in the mail from someone, it would go directly in the trash if he/we didn't know the person. There are scary effing people out there. Is she THAT trusting? With her own kids no less? She is just plain dumb.

On Twitter, people are telling Kate she doesn't know Mexican food and she doesn't, but fajitas are Tex-Mex anyway, not Mexican.

Sour cream inside is weird, but there is a sour cream cheese sauce that is typically seved on chicken enchiladas. All she has to do is pick up a cookbook to find out how to make it.

Anyway, her bad, unimaginative cooking is the least of her worries.

AndiSnark said...

Fidosmommy, Not worth your time.

Tucker's Mom said...

Kate's "recipes" are hilarious once again. First, she made a version of enchiladas, not fajitas. And I agree that hot sour cream in this dish would be gross, whereas it really works in stroganoff.
The pizzas must be small for 8 of them to fit on a pizza screen, but hey, it's a good meal and I'm sure the kids love having their own pizzas.
And for the love of Pete, this woman wrote a cookbook and does not know that Caesar's salad is spelled like this? Between the misspellings, the misnomers and not even knowing what temp to cook chicken to, she is a total dilettante.

AndiSnark said...

I should be flattered but the lack of punctuation insults.

Kate would do herself a really big favor by cracking open a cookbook now and then. Truly, she's a legend in her own mind. Her skills are pedestrian and serviceable at best.

I found the analogy of Disney World to a prison a bit odd.

Sure you'd listen to the opinions of people that have been to prison and say stay away. However, on the flip side, I don't know if there are millions of people that love any prison and suggest going there.

I will say though, if I had to go to prison I'd definitely choose one created by Walt Disney.

Interesting article Dallas Lady.
I believe MTV is taking advantage of the teen moms and their infants and is exploiting everyone involved and changes need to be made to reality tv contract requirements, etc for many reasons. BUT, the girls and their families need to accept responsibility for the choices they're making while filming. They're paid very well and when you include the magazine articles they do, the amount is obscene, imo. No one forced her to file for divorce when the cams were there or to go out and party while they were tagging along. If she doesn't want the cams to film something she shouldn't engage in the activities.

Disney Fan said...

Most of the rides at Disney World are not thrill rides or carnival/fair-type rides. They are elaborate experience rides, and a lot safer than a carnival ride. At Disney you can experience traveling to a different country or going back in time with dinosaurs.

In Epcot you can even take a relaxing ride through the Disney greenhouse and learn about Horticulture. In Disney Hollywood Studios you can experience the behind the scenes action on a movie set. You learn about the special effects and you get to experience being in the action.

They have, over the years, added some more intense rides for the older kids, probably in competition with Universal Studios, but not many.

Epcot is amazing in their recreation of different countries and experiencing their food and culture.

Animal Kingdom has an African safari experience with real animals on 500 acres of land set in a safe environment. How many people, especially children, can experience a real African safari?

Their fireworks and water shows are very well done and I've never found any that compare.

Disney definitely has something for everyone.

They have hotel prices in all ranges, free transportation throughout the resorts and parks. They have all food price ranges, as well as Dining Plans that give huge discounts if you stay on the property.

The prices may seem high but the longer you stay at the parks the cheaper it is. If you look around at just what it is they do there and offer for entertainment I am actually surprised it doesn't cost more.

I understand if you've been to Disney and you decide it's not for you, or if you really just don't like theme parks in general or are boycotting all things Disney for certain reasons, but I can't understand basing that decision on the opinions of the minority of people that visit Disney and don't like it.

I think this blog is experiencing and is going to experience some transition pains. It's understandable and was inevitable: Kate is off TV (thank God), probably permanently, and there really isn't a lot to say about her anymore (again, thank God). All that's left are her inane ramblings on Twitter and disgusting recipes/ghost-written lectures on her website.

To all that I say yay. I'm glad admin is keeping the focus on the effect of reality TV on kids, because that's a very worthy topic and one that continues to be relevant, unfortunately. I have watched Teen Mom in the past, but stopped when they started showing the parents potty training their kids and bathing their kids. I don't think it's ok to have your child's private life/identity out there in the first place, but when they got to that point, I was totally disgusted. I shouldn't have watched in the first place!

Toddlers & Tiaras is absolutely vomit inducing, as is Dance Moms.

Does anyone here have kids who are really private? I do. I can't even IMAGINE putting her real life on TV. When she made cheerleader, she didn't want me to get that sign parents put in their front yard with the school name and the girl's name. That's how private she is.

I have to think at least a few of the kids on reality TV (if not a lot) feel the same way, and yet they have no choice in the matter. How awful to feel so exposed. And then to watch your parents use the money to support a lavish lifestyle for themselves (something the Gosselin kids will realize later).

I'm not kidding. The law is now on campus, even if you live OFF campus and cops come to your house or dorm and they find alcohol in the fridge and say you live with underage kids 18-20 who go to college you all get arrested and you all have to pay a fine of I think it was $500 or more and sign something. This is UT I'm talking about Admin. Campus law I found out my first year because they send letters home to all kids who are again 18-20 to inform the parents, not the adult kids.

The term narcissistic supply was employed by psychoanalyst Otto Kernberg as part of his description of what he called the malignant narcissist. Kernberg referred to the coldness in a such narcissist's relationships as the "tendency to disregard others except in temporary idealization of narcissistic supply" and he suggested that this was a feature which distinguished pathological from normal narcissism.[9]

Psychoanalyst and self-psychologist Heinz Kohut spoke of how, in "a person with a narcissistic personality disorder...some kind of a fragmentation...occurs when there are no narcissistic supplies, no narcissistic sustenance or praise or approval".[10]

I can't even tell you how I ended up on "narcissistic supply" in Wiki. But I stopped and read it and honestly we should be thanking the sheep (aka narcissistic supply)

I find it hard to believe that week after week there are 9 people in the same house who all adore the exact same thing. On a scale of 1 - 10 they were all 10's but now they are starting to be 11's?!? If she lasts another 3 months on the lame-assed site, she will be claiming the kids are turning over their piggy bank money in order to get her to slop together their "19's"! She'll claim they are each licking her feet to thank her for the honor of a can of cream of somethin' mixed with peas and carrots, some pasta, and a can of tuna. Oh excuse me I will use Kate language "A pack or sack or dab or blob or big pinch or bunch or some." Add a little cheddar, Kate, and they will pass out from ecstacy. AND YOU'LL HAVE INVENTED IT! Kate just sucks so much out of the kids to sooth her ego. I mean, I certainly appreciated my mom cooking almost every night, and many times the meals were just meh, not my favorite. But other times, I loved what she made and it was known because I had seconds. I do not remember having to thank my mom and stroke her ego by telling her how wonderful each and every meal was.
It's just not in a child's nature to do that, so you know they've been trained to give Kate the positive reinforcement she obviously needs.

Just a thought here....... and said in a gentle, respectful manner -

I'll write from my point of view so as to avoid calling anyone else out.

1) I don't feel the need to reply to every post. Sometimes I write a reply then delete it before posting it after I read it and think it might be misinterpreted. Often do that in fact. The delete button is my friend!

2) Some posts make me laugh, some make me mad, some make me shake my head in amazement, some make me frown in puzzlement. That's the nature of this or any blog. Some posts even teach me something new!

3) When someone posts something snarky I try to ignore it. Nothing good ever comes from confronting an asshole/idiot/rude person. You are simply not going to win. I hate to give my valuable time to a losing battle, and I hate to give rude people any attention.

4) This blog has only 4 rules. None of those 4 rules prohibits "off topic" issues. While it's mostly about kart, it's not exclusively about kart. Admin allows OT unless it gets way off track and too contentious.

5) If I see a post I am not interested in, I scroll past it. Extremely easy to do. Not a hardship at all. And I never feel the compulsion to point that out. This blog isn't written just for me; there are subjects of interest to others and everyone here has a right to subject matter and opinions.

6) If I read a post and find at the end that it was "a waste of my time", well hey, my fault for reading it - it didn't kill me. I choose to read here at this blog and certainly don't think every word should be written just to please me. Again for emphasis.

7) The only time I feel a need to post a 'rebuttal' as it were is when someone who posts here frequently and is known to be a nice respectful poster gets slammed. I stick up for folks who are picked on unjustly.

8) I read and post here because for the most part this is a really nice group of intelligent women with compassion and insight.

9) I believe strongly that ignoring rude posters just sucks the life right out them. They usually are posting provocatively to get a reaction. Starve them. Eventually they will go away.

10) I also firmly believe that ADMIN can and should delete really offensive, snarky posts. In my opinion, it's not a freedom of speech issue, it's maintaining a dignified and respectful blog.

And so I'll head off to dinner. Wondering why things go well here for a while then seemingly all of a sudden someone gets a bug up their butt and decides to be rude.

If you have a different opinion, it's amazingly easy to take a moment and think of a phrasing that will get your point across without pissing someone off.

If you don't understand something and your first reaction is to get heated, take a moment to think before firing off a nastygram. Post with a question for clarification... "I'm not sure I get your meaning, can you expand on that please?" Perhaps the lack of visual and auditory clues created by this wonder we call the internet has skewed the post. It could be the words were meant in jest or with a side-eye for irony.

An example - Disney: Love it or hate it, it just does not rise to the level requiring snotty, rude comments. Same thing with the Duggers. Love them or hate them, making your point doesn't require rudeness.

Well, this gentle rant is over. Heading to the kitchen for a leftover night... yum, as kart would say. Sorry kart, nothing organic I'm afraid....

Ok, as for Disney World: I'm 50-50. If I had kids, I would wait till they are school age to take them and probably only once, that is enough. Disney is out to make money, like most tourist places are. They are over priced. I went there to see Davy Jones at Epcot(met up with several friends) for 5 days, 3 concerts each day. Bought a Park Hopper ticket, cause it was cheaper than a regular ticket. I did not stay in the park, cause cheapest hotel was $98. I stay in Kissimmee, and the hotel was $56. a night and free breakfast and pool, and transportation into the park(twice in the morning and pick up around 9pm)which also was free, the driver had a basket if you wanted to make a donation(like a dollar). The hotel in kissimme, was right across from the mall, down the street from mini golf, games, food places. The hotel was very clean. Other than going for Davy Jones, I have no other reason to go. The first time I went, I went to all the parks in one day. Was not impressed. I've been to California a dozen times and never went to Disneyland. And the person who talked about the employees at Disney, they are right on the dot. One waitress at Dennys, was telling us all about Disney, how they hire, fire and get out of promoting people, they are strict and will can you for the smallest thing. They pay just above min wage. It was interesting.

Kates food as usual does not look good to eat. Kate should get herself a good camera. Yes, Kate should look at a cookbook once in a while and a nutrition book also. Poor food, what abuse it takes at her house.

Not a snark, not a comment on grammar, no rudeness intended - it just struck me as funny to think of sheeple sitting in front of their television sets, holding a poster while watching the show...raising the poster, cheering Kate during the show.

Although, sadly, I wouldn't put it past any of them to do that, especially one young twitter teen who cries constantly while watching shows and making endless video tributes to her idol. That one most certainly is in need of some serious intervention.

Tucker's Mom, I watched that video. I felt so embarrassed FOR that woman it was almost unbearable. And she lives in such a rural area that only a handful of cars drove past her anyway! Just out there, marching around alone, the wind whipping that sign around, yodeling out her support for Kate every now and then to the video camera and the zero people around her.

That whole demand to put a sign up in a public place and between certain hours and PROVE it was the only time I've truly felt bad for her supporters, even though they all did it voluntarily. It was just mean. And diva-like. And mean. And it wasn't going to make a damn bit of difference for her show, anyway.

Ug.

Tucker's Mom...yeah it's that too old to make that much a fool out of yourself? That is behavior I would expect from her younger fans, you know, teens and such. Not a grown woman to embarrass herself so publicly. It's sort of hard not to feel embarrassed for this poor desperate soul almost in some way.

Now I'm going to make dinner for my own family, it's Chicken Broccoli Casserole tonight. Okay so it's me using up leftovers a bit but I promise I don't have Kate's mediocre cooking skills. Poor Kate...not so much, sorry.

And just because you left to cheese off pizza will never, ever get rid of all the cheese she dumped into her last macaroni dish.

Westcoaster said...

Her "recipes" are truly mediocre- 'nuff said. And roasted potatoes with pizza?

Crumpets from New Zealand? Frozen after a 15-18 hour trip home, and thawed 8 months later? Maybe she brought a box mix back and baked fresh this am? Hardly. Hardly appetizing or impressive.

Dallas Lady said...

Tonight I'm doing a chicken carbonara. The salad is spring greens and baby spinach with almonds, thinly sliced pears, and this vinaigrette I made using pomegranate balsamic vinegar and Meyer lemon olive oil. No cheese on the salad tonight, only because the chicken carbonara is quite cheesy already.

It's still somewhat hot here, so the salad is a refreshing accompaniment to the heavier pasta dish. Riesling (Reisling?) for the wine.

As for what my daughter rates it, I have no idea. She eats it. LOL. I don't need nightly compliments, I know my family appreciates it.

Sorry, yeah I've been afraid of driving around with any open container. Coke or whatever in my car. I have never done it. Darn straight for fear I get a ticket!

My brother's a sherrif and since I've had a lisence I've had it drilled into me I could get pulled over with a costly ticket. Rule is you get a ticket on campus for having open container.

******

Marie, I think you've taken the whole issue of open container laws and misinterpreted them or blown them out of proportion. You're putting controls on yourself where they're not needed. It is simply untrue that you're not allowed to have an open can of Pepsi in your car, on your campus, town or anywhere in the USA. btw, cup with a lid on it is the same as an open can or bottle whether it's alcohol or not.
The article you're referencing is quite clear that they're talking about alcoholic beverages.

It's silly to believe anyone is going to be stopped and punished by police for driving and drinking from an open can of Pepsi. There are no laws anywhere against you having an open can of non-alcoholic drink in a vehicle. none Possession of open alcohol in a vehicle IS against the law and if you're underage it's worse.

UGH at her lame "fajita" recipe. It's a lame enchillada recipe if anything, and not a very good one at that. I make REAL enchilladas often, including homemade red sauce or verde sauce (YUMMMM). It's not a quick 2 minute throw together meal. But the work is WORTH it for how incredibly delicious they are. REAL enchilladas can take several hours of prep work since I hate using precooked chicken bought in the store. I bet Kate doesn't even know that you need to fry corn tortillas to soften them slightly before assembling real enchilladas.

As a Texan and a good Tex-Mex cook, her "fajitas" recipe just completely pissed me off. If she wasn't so vile, I'd send her a REAL recipe for fajitas & enchilladas. Her half assed attempts at cooking are just another example of her half assed way of life. Whatever is easy & quick and doesn't disrupt HER time seems to be all she can do.

And don't even get me started on how simple it is to make homemade pizza dough and let the kids handle everything from smooshing out their own dough & picking what they want on it. She could make the dough a couple of hours before they get home from school and it would be ready to go when the kids get home & start getting hungry. It also teaches them SO much.

-----------

Marie, I need some clarification because I'm confused about your comments in regards to open containers and cans.

From your original statement, I assumed you were talking about some state or federal law. However, in your more recent comments, it sounds like a law that school campuses are applying, since you use the word "campus". Does it apply only to college campuses or is it a city- or county-wide law? I think some of us are misinterpreting your original comment because it sounds like an over-generalization that doesn't apply to their state.

The private university I went to had some strict campus laws like that. If you lived in university housing, all roommates must be at least 21 if you want to keep alcohol in your apartment or dorm suite. Additionally, there was a strict limit on how much alcohol we could have, no matter if it is opened or not. Campus cops have no jurisdiction outside of campus, but if there was an alcohol incident at a one of our university fraternity/sorority or club/organization, then they would face the disciplinary board.

I can understand a strict no open-can policy if students are using soda cans or bottles to drink alcohol in public or undetected. I used to see some people in my dorm do this.

Sienna,

LOL! How right you are........ one thing though: I'd probably have to start a betting pool about how long it would take for some of those recipes to show up on kart's monday menus, slightly changed and with her name on them! ha ha

Bless her heart, not only are her recipies boring and predictable, they are also copied from someone else.

Not a crime in itself, as I often take other recipes as my own, *so to speak*. HOWEVER!!! -> I always title them "Aunt Tootie's Fudge Cake" or "Marnie's Curried Fruit". I am honest and give credit where credit is due. Friends have always asked me "can I get your Aunt Tootie's recipe?" Aunt Tootie lives on!

OT------------

As a side note I include those recipes in my genealogy scrapbooks on family members pages. I have a recipe from the 1800s from great-grandmother. It actually isn't used anymore as it calls for lard and I'm not into cooking with lard, but it is great conversation starter with kids and grandkids... Recipes can bring such continuity to family dining and get-togethers.

Got a great one we call "Aunt Arabelle's Heart Attack on a Plate" - DELICIOUS, but not politically correct according to the food police these days. Oh well.... I make it once a year and serve with a regular aspirin - ha ha.

OT concluded.

How does this relate to kart? Well, I hope that she is able to carry forward recipes and cooking to her kids as they get older... being in the kitchen with my grandma and aunts was the best time! Time for cooking and time for gabbing.......... good times...........

What I don't use is the microwave. I never liked microwaved food. Just not my preference.

Here's a thought.........

ADMIN - would it be appropriate to have a thread where we post our one favorite recipe?

Might be fun...

You could write it up somehow tied to kart's recipes. Or not.

Limit the thread to 1-2 days then move on to new topic thread. Limit each poster to 1-2 recipes.

Once the thread is closed, ask for no more recipe talk. Done in 24-48 hours.

This might actually be of some help to kart, providing some nutritious recipes for her kids. If I take off my cynical hat, maybe she'd learn something. We all know she reads here.

Also, by writing up thread as recipe thread, those who are not interested can take a day or so off from reading here, knowing the discussion won't directly concern kart.

Just a thought........... my feelings won't be hurt if you decide not to.

Kate's recipes show that she lacks talent to host her own show on the Food Network or the Cooking Channel. It's like she's the "mediocre" version of Sandra Lee and Rachael Ray. How can Kate create a half-hour show if it seems like she makes dinner with the least amount of effort as possible because she has 8, count 'em 8 kids? Kudos to her if she doesn't want to slave herself in the kitchen...just don't start thinking this will help land a new tv opportunity or a new book.

Kate said in a previous blog entry that she doesn't count calories, yet she mentions that those flatbreads are only 60 calories. Additionally, she skips the cheese to further reduce her calorie intake. With her marathon-training she keeps mentioning, would it help to reduce her daily calorie intake...wouldn't it be almost the opposite? I would assume with all those miles she runs (5-10 as she claims), she would be burning more calories than an average woman.

It seems like a red flag that she might have some slight eating disorder. Like DJ from Full House. She can do whatever she wants with her body, but I'm concerned what example this is setting for her impressionable kids - if you want to be beautiful, then you must do whatever it takes to be skinny.

GK....

I'm more than happy to share. And I can make it really easy on the red & green enchillada sauces because I got my recipes online and then tweaked them a little each time I made them. I prefer to roast/toast the peppers, onions, garlic, tomatoes before blending them. I just like the extra flavor it gives. Same for the green sauce. I've tweaked both recipes to be hotter & spicier by playing with the type of peppers. You can't change the ancho chilies or the tomatillos, but the rest you can use jalapenos, serenos, even habeneros if you want. The basic sauce recipes are at mexicanfoodie.com

It's a great place to start with mexican recipes and work off of them to get to something you & your family really like.

a little hint to using jalapenos....when you cut one in half, look at the veins (the white stuff) that hold the seeds. The more yellow/orange the veins are, the hotter the pepper. White veins it will be a mild jalapeno, very orangy & it's going to be a HOT one. To reduce heat, you can leave the seeds & veins out.

I agree with your post regarding Kate tossing out the chocolate that was sent to her. I would highly doubt that she let any of her children eat it. For several years, it was documented that the only gifts she would accept were cash and gift cards....and suddenly she would accept food from twitter fans? And actually eat it or feed it to her children? No way.

I also agree with the poster who said that Kate should have qualified the recipes as being already existing ones she tweaked so that her children would like and eat those dishes.....but she pretty much insinuates that these are HER original recipes. She lies when she doesn't even have to. I think that tweaking known recipes to make them children-friendly would make for a much more interesting blog than just posting recipes (that you have basically plagiarized).

It really kinda floors me....how severe of a narcissist do you have to be to be so delusional that you think nothing of claiming that recipes for things like monkey munch, red, white and blue cake for 7/4 and mini pizzas are your own original recipes? At least pick something original, even if you plagiarized it....and then tweak some of the ingredients or add new ones or some of the steps....and call it your own creation....but the 7/4 cake? With the blueberries, etc. used to make an American flag cake that has been on multiple magazine covers every July? What in the world was/is she thinking?

You're right, it takes a lot of prep, so I make two and freeze one. My family goes bananas if I make them, because it doesn't happen often.

I agree that Kate is doing herself a big disservice by not eating better than she does. I could cite my own battle with over-moderating my own food consumption that landed me in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks, but I'll spare you.

I hope that at the very least she is taking a good quality multivitamin with iron. It's not a perfect solution, but better than nothing if she's not eating red meat very often. I hope the kids are getting red meat somewhere, or getting a good vitamin.

Food issues are a self-control thing. With Kate being "in control" of her kids, her house, her
kids' food, etc. you would think she feels like she would be satisfied. But she's still searching for perfection, and so has turned to her own food intake to complete the picture. Food is the last thing over which YOU have control. Which, of course, tells me that her kids are going to have a heyday when they finally break free of Kate's control over their food.

I see lots of trouble ahead there. I've walked that path myself. My parents were food controllers. When I left home I went the entire other direction just because I could. Then I decided to do something about it and got seriously sick. I hope for a much better future for the Gosselins.

btw, I'm from Houston...but now live in Georgia. Let me add that Georgia "mexican" food has been so gringo-ized that we simply don't eat out if we want Mexican food. I cook it at home.

I have a base "boiled chicken" recipe that I use for almost anything I need shredded chicken for. Then I save the stock for soups, stews or anything I need it for. It freezes great. I freeze some in ice cube trays for small "stock shots" and some in big freezer bags for soup night.

In thinking about it, these are more the cooking tips I'd have thought Kate would put out. Ways to cut down on time cooking w/o shorting the taste or quality. Not her lame "homemade" pizza or 2 minute crap fajitas.

At the time of Kate's big hold up signs for me and embarrass yourself fiasco, a lot of us actually speculated that it was then TLC was convinced she was a liability and no longer justifiable. I don't see it as any coincidence she was let go the next day.

As far as cooking goes, I pull recipes from all over the internet, cookbooks, or just play around. But I sort of have my staples that can get me through almost any meal: Real lemon, real garlic clove (they'll last quite awhile in the crisper), salt and pepper, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL and red wine vinegar, and the herbs that I grow depending on what I grow at the moment. Right now basil, thyme and rosemary. As long as I have a good quality protein on hand, usually chicken or fish, or some good pasta, and lots of vegetables (usually what looks good in the farmer's market or in season in store, and a salad) I'm good to go. Sounds simple but what we had the other day--nice garlic-lemon chicken breast, yams with a little brown sugar, and a ton of sauteed vegetables in olive oil with herbs--was divine. I used to think cooking was rocket science. Now that I've realized for me simple works better, it's fun and GOOD.

Ahh....Rachel Ray and Sandra Lee.....as bad as they are, they at least credit the authors (usually sent in by their viewing audience) of whatever recipes they make on their shows....and Sandra Lee (who provides tons of LOL's, IMO) at least makes the recipes interesting (horrifically interesting....but still interesting)....by throwing kool whip and taco packages into everything, smashing an entire apple pie to make an apple bread pudding, scooping out the insides of a pumpkin pie and a cheesecake to make little Halloween treats. At least her recipes are entertaining (because they are so bad most of the time...but that's what makes it so entertaining).

As soon as I read your post I started laughing. Comparing Kate to Sandra Lee and Rachel Ray is hysterical. And at this point, plagiarizing recipes is boring compared to the nonsense of Rachel Ray (I "can't bake") Ray and Sandra Lee....which IMO makes them better than her....and that ain't saying much.

Again what does she do all day that she can't make from scratch decent meals for those kids?
And again DWTS is on and all I see is she now has given the kids some 11 score cards to hold up at the dinner table. Of course they are only allowed the 10 and 11 cards regardless so no fear she'd score lower then THE BEST!!!!!
Such a dweeb.
You all are making me crave enchiladas though. I like how my dad makes them, which really are more like tostadas (?)I guess. The are stacked with cheese and onions between the tortillas and a fried egg on top of the stack with nice spicy enchilada sauce for each tortilla to be dipped in prior to stacking. Yummy to me.

What about an "Off-topic" thread instead - for food, Disney, scripted tv, etc.?

I know we tend to gravitate to the most recent thread, but it would be nice to have one separate sticky thread for all things non-reality and non-Gosselin. This way posters can have their off-topic discussions without getting on other posters' nerves for deterring from the main purpose of this blog.

Sometimes, I cannot check in with this blog for hours at a time and it can get overwhelming when there's 50+ or even 100+ new comments. I value everyone's opinions here and try to read all the comments; it's just not as easy and I don't want to miss someone's great comment that might get lost among the non-relevant stuff. Yes, I can just scroll over them but when I want to reply to one comment, it's sometimes hard going back and locating it as the threads tend to get large.

It's merely a suggestion. I know it might create additional work for admin to maintain two separate threads, but it was just a thought.

Admin, I might have a comment in your spam box. It went through but magically disappeared after I refreshed the page.

I found Kate's posting of pizza recipes somewhat ironic after all the pizza drama on the RV trip.Kate said "Oh, and I make myself a pizza too. Small Flatouts are only 60 calories each and I pile mine high with sauce and veges and just skip the cheese!
Hmmm....in the RV pizza "scene", Kate stated that she didn't eat pizza.
So....which is it??

Marie, not trying to rip on you, just think you're overly cautious! Drink away (non alcoholic) with your open containers. If a cop honestly thinks you have alcohol, he can clearly see that you don't by smelling it, tasting it, give you a breathalyzer, or if you must you can have your drink tested in a lab to prove it has no alcohol and bill the police department. Trust me, cops don't USUALLY waste their time on trying to nab someone who is innocent. Remember they know they will have to prove themselves up in court. They have bigger fish to fry than little ole law-abiding you. :)

New post!

I'd like to know what Kate does all day as well besides twitter and getting new phones.

*******

Why, sit down in front of the TV set, pop in the DVRs of her children when they were babies and easier to control, when Jon could be her whipping boy, and enjoy every second of it.

And go to FedEx to pick up her latest gift.

What else?

Those words might make the tastiest dinner she's fixed for herself in some time.

Beth I did not take it as a snark to begin with so no harm done.

I take offense to be called over-cautious, I know I am, be bizzare if I wasn't aware that's for sure. It's a work in progress coming from a controlling home growing up. Something some people have to learn. Which is what we might see with some possible Gosselin kids since Kate is so controlling.

Admin, I'm not truly worried, I'm just a rule follower because that's all I know how to do. You know church mouse thing. But I'm working on it. I recently got pulled over for driving to slow...yeah I see the point. I'm young, time and experience will change people I have no doubt.

Dear Marie --

Here's a good tip - find out what the rule is before you follow it. Not being snarky, suggesting something practical that will make your life easier going forward.

Sometimes people who grow up in a controlling environment don't even trust themselves to find out what the rules really are, once they are adults. They just make assumptions.

You can reduce your anxiety by knowing that you really *can* have an open soda bottle in your car.

You'll reduce your chances of being pulled over because you're going too slowly if you realize that, in many places, going 15 MPH *under* the speed limit is illegal (since it is dangerous for others who may suddenly encounter you).

That's a good example of how sometimes being too cautious can be harmful.

You'll have an easier time overcoming your background if you go carefully, and get the facts first.

What is wrong with these reality show families???? I lost any respect I had for the Duggar family when Michelle had preeclampsia with Josie. She could have died but Jim Bob thought that filming his wife in medical distress, and his own feelings about the situation, was a good idea. Who worries about filming for a show in a life or death situation? Seriously, who? "Hey honey, I know you and the baby might die, but take some time to talk into the camera so we can throw it up on tv later, k?" And what woman could still respect her husband after he did such a thing? I would have punched him and thrown the camera across the room if I were Michelle.

Poor Jason. He was terrified. How bizarre that the whole family automatically thought to videotape him with multiple cameras. I think that family should review that sin of pride thing.....

Admin I thought your comparison between the Duggars and Strawberry Shortcake mugger was spot on. There's something creepy weird beneath the sugary sweet candyland they are portraying.

Probably too late to post here to "Friend," however:

I don't take most things as being snarky or cruel, it's someone else's opinion or fact and have to accept that.

This is why I have concern for the amount of control Kate has over her kids...so much like my parents. Seen but not heard was the rule, you did it because you were told to and you never ever questioned authority. When I have it only lead to trouble and eventually you stop asking. I'm youngest of 6 with an older brother as a sheriff so abiding by the law or over doing it appeased family I was happy.

In transition from controlled life to being who I want to be...eh...it's not easy. From one extreme to another often. Life isn't stressful I just learned to accept it. However on my own now I starting change that. Maybe Kate's kids one day will too or be brave enough to do this earlier in life.

Not the least bit offended by anyone and I know I'm a work in progress. I hope against hope anyway my summer 2012 in Europe will break me out of my cautious-self...maybe, who knows :)
