Jason Duggar's terrifying accident is filmed by his mom and siblings for their show

Michelle Duggar (left) whips out a camera phone right after the accident
After the eleven-year-old could have been killed when he fell 12 feet into an orchestra pit (luckily, he only knocked out some teeth, fractured his jaw, and sprained his knee), his family members' first reactions were to pull out their phones and start filming the aftermath.

The Duggars have gone too far, and need a serious, perhaps permanent, break from documenting every moment of their lives, including accidents and illness (they have also filmed their children going through chicken pox and wisdom teeth removal). Why was making sure this child's serious accident was captured on film the priority?

Well, Michelle Duggar, liar, liar, pants on fire. Not exactly christian of you to make statements on your show that weren't the whole truth. Michelle you clearly state that the "adult children" were filming Jason's accident and you deliberately left out that you and Jim Bob were filming as well with your cellphones. To not say that you were also filming was to say a half truth and an actual lie. Is this the kind of example you want to set for other Christians since your motivation for doing this show is to encourage others in your example

Reminds me of the roloff trebuchet sp? incident

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Yes I thought of the Roloff accident which also could have resulted in death. At least with that one Amy didn't seem to give a flying flip about the cameras, she was right with her little boy holding his hand and reassuring him.

With that one, TLC cameras happened to be there filming interviews and rushed over. No one was saying film it, film it!

Jake easily could have died, it was a matter of inches.

It's one concerning thing to air a child's accident for entertainment as some of these families have done. But the Duggars took it to a whole other outrageous level by filming it THEMSELVES, the mother herself filming it, and making filming of this a priority. It was sick to begin with, but they made sure it was disgusting.

I've never watched the Duggars so I'm in the same position I was re Kate. I didn't watch her show and never saw a complete episode (saw clips on YouTube) until she was hit in the head with the TLC Cancel Hammer. I simply can't bring myself to go to YouTube and watch any of the Duggar show, or whatever it's called. I did see the clip that's on this blog and that was enough for me; I found myself cringing through the whole disgusting thing. Those people don't deserve to be parents and once again we see innocent kids being sacrificed on the altar of their parents greed. This is about all I can "contribute" to the discussion of this and I'm going to be in the same position if we ever discuss Toddlers and Tiaras. I've never seen it and I, most likely, never will.

Not only disgusting, but despicable. Did they really sink so low that cameras and filming is first and foremost on their minds? If something happens, do they think, WOW...great for an episode, someone get photos of that?
It certainly seems so...

Keep an open mind,

I have to disagree with you about having an opinion about something, even if I haven't been there.I merely said I think Disney World is highly over-rated,period.Long lines,over-priced hotels, food, toys, rides, merchandise, tired, cranky, hot kids and parents-how exciting.I live a long way from Disney World ,and my kids and I don't enjoy fair rides due to motion sickness.

I know a lot of people that took their kids and after complaining madly about it, said they would not do it again unless the kids were older. Most parents took kids who were too young to enjoy it,and parents were disappointed about that.

You said that Disney must have sprayed liquid LSD when you were there, so you really had a good time! I'll pass thanks, but I'm sure it's a lovely place to many and I wish all of you the best time when you go there.

I hated away from home vacations when I was a kid. I still do. Too long to get there, too boring to get there, and by the time I got there I was ready to go home. Somehow they never lived up to the expectations I had formed in my head. I got my quota of rides and shows at the Ky State Fair every year. As much as I loved my family, it was a genuine pain to make the trips back home to see them in my adult years. Traffic makes me nuts. (That's why I like small towns.)

To this day my idea of the perfect vacation is to stay home, turn off the phone, lock the door
and enjoy the time off right here. Cheap, relaxing, happy and no schedule to keep for anything.

-------------

For many, it IS exciting. I guess what's sauce for the goose...

Long lines - depends on when you go. We've not experienced any long lines, and if there are, there is always the option to get a ticket and return at a certain time when you don't have to wait in line.

Over-priced hotels? Have you checked them out? If you don't need a luxury hotel, such as the Grand Floridian, there are very nice budget hotels WITHIN the complex, where the rates are $70 per night per family, with free transportation to all the parks. I don't know if you call that over-priced, but I've paid much more than that at a chain hotel at the beach.

Same goes for the food -- if you do your homework and search for discount packages that include meals, it's very affordable.

Tired, cranky, hot kids. Well, yes, if you overload them on one day. What kid isn't going to be tired and cranky? It's all in parenting, knowing what to do in a day's time and how much is too much for a child. A kid can get cranky and tired on ANY vacation, not only in Disney.

I agree with taking very young children there. I'd never do it. You wait until the child is able to appreciate it and remember it. You don't take a two or three-year old thinking the child is going go love it. It's the parents who think that it's the thing to do for a child at that age and can't wait to go, thinking the child is going to have the time of his life. More often than not, it's not going to turn out that way.

I think that you're just going by what you hear, and not from experience and, in my opinion, when you make a general statement based what other parents say, it really is just speculation. There are so many other things to do besides go on rides that cause motion sickness. Epcot is all about culture, Spaceship Earth doesn't cause motion sickness and offers a great look at the beginning of civilization. There are action shows for adults, animal shows for kids, learning experiences about the seas - more than enough to keep everyone busy without going on rides that cause motion sickness. In fact, I stay away from those and I've never been at a loss what to do.

Disney travelogue over. Go in peace!

Kate, for cripes sake, you are such a screw up .Do you really think some BS drivel on your blog will make people like you or forgive you for being such a selfish, hateful abusing bitch to your kids? and husband ,um family, um the whole world,I guess.

Take off your heels, kneel down in front of each of your kids and beg them for forgiveness for always putting them last.Tell them you're sorry for being a terrible,un-feeling mother. Look them in the eye and say "I love you,I'm so sorry I treated you so badly all your life."Hug each of them, until YOU cry.

Stand up and "walk your talk." You won't need heels to live, if you do the above properly and mean it, you'll be walking on air. Kids are very forgiving, even to ones who don't deserve it,like you.

Disney sucks said...

Disney World/Land is NOT family fun. Period. I've had a number of friends who worked there -- bottom line: it is a freaky cult. It's this freakish subculture that takes itself WAY too seriously, to the point that it controls EVERY aspect of its employees. And, it bilks the public of their hard-earned dollars in the guise of "good American family fun." It's a scam. My husband had to consult there for a while, and saw firthand their "underground" fakeness. Literally. There's an entire "city" built below the park -- it's their way to ensure that the Mickeys, Minnies, etc. only surface at times that won't be duplicated by other identical characters around the park. The trash is also collected down there. You throw your trash in a street-level can, and it is literally wisked away to the underground world to be properly disposed of. Wow, magic -- my trash just "disappeared" -- ahh the American dream. Flash forward to that "underground" and you'll see a whole lot of disgruntled half-costumed Disney characters bemoaning their unpleasant lot. The Disney workers are under very strick guidelines regarding jewelry, tatoos, etc. etc. While I want my young kids to experience every sort of fun ... I would NEVER waste my money on a Disney vacation. It's a manufactured experience created by a troup of automotons. It's not real. And, in the end, it's not fun (how can endless lines, manufactured fun, overpriced tickets, and exhorbitant food prices make you feel like you're having a good time???). They're selling you what they want you to think is fun. Wake up. Take your kids camping. Or, simply have a bbq in your own backyard. Disney is a SCAM.

And yes, I DID visit Disneyland as a child, thanks to my parents' generosity. It was an overpriced scam then, just as it is today.

Excellent point and I felt this way too. Growing children having to wear used shoes from the Goodwill, but they all each have a $200 phone, plus the monthly data plan to go with it. They buy used jeans and cut and sew them into granny skirts for the girls, along with the girls wearing used and faded men's polo shirts, but let's keep the cell phones in tact.

Also, I thought they were obsessed with the 1980's and cell phones dont fit that lifestyle. Who are they all calling besides each other? They arent allowed contact outside of church folk, are they?

##############

Not really. At Disney World, that is actually ground level. The park is what is built ABOVE ground level. When you're in the park, you are walking on a structure that is built one level up from the natural nine-acre ground level. It's the ground level that is made up of corridors, utilidors, that provide housing and access to the park's automated aspects of the park. When you're in the park, you think that you're walking on the ground, but you're actually walking on the second level of the park. What is "fake" about corridors built to house automated systems of the park? Wouldn't this system have to be built somewhere?

"And yes, I DID visit Disneyland as a child, thanks to my parents' generosity. It was an overpriced scam then, just as it is today."

-------------

How long ago was that?

Disney sucks: I guess, then, you won't be getting a call to appear in a television commercial for Disney! ;)

I would believe that there are thousands and thousands of children who would disagree that Disney is a scam. I guess it's all what you make it. Tell a child on the Make A Wish list that it's all a scam. Somehow I don't think you'd be too convincing.

I think its a good thing that Disney has the underground city for all their garbage, maintenance crews and disgruntled employees. At least the parks, restaurants and facilities are kept clean and employees are required to put on a happy face and present a clean image for the aboveground paying customers. I think they do a very good job and enjoyed the Disney experience in comparison to some other theme parks and tourist attractions/areas I've visited.

Take Kate, for example. If someone watches an early episode, they may notice that SOMEthing is slightly off but alot of people didn't. As we know, Kate fooled SOME viewers for awhile. But research, or scratch the surface a little deeper and THEN you have information to form an opinion. JMO

Once again, if the cameras were about light Michelle would have said so: It was a dark room and thank goodness we had our camera LIGHTS to see. Once again, if the cameras were about light, they never would have turned the footage over to TLC. Instead she essentially said thank goodness we had cameras to FILM and she obviously turned it all over to TLC with a big smile on her face no bones about it.

I think the Duggars are good people at heart who have gotten so sucked into this reality lifestyle they're losing sight of what is important. In contrast, I think Kate always was a bad person who would have made bad choices for her kids whether cameras were there or not. Even so, a bad decision is still a bad decision whether you are a good person or not.

You have to wonder if things like this ever get to a point where a parent hopes for drama and accidents to happens for good TV. If you're an actor, there is pressure to do a good job acting, and for writers and all other production to do a good job producing, so your show stays on the air. But how does it work if it's a reality show and your real life is the star? How do you keep the drama up so your show stays on the air if not by real life accidents, tears, and drama?

Trying to keep the Disney subject from getting too heated, but there is a ton of information out there about Disney's questionable practices. They are pretty controversial actually. I share Disney Sucks's opinion, but don't assume opinions about those who don't like Disney aren't based on facts and just has to do with "bitterness." You know Disney controversies goes back to the very beginning? Even back in the 40's there was a lot of chatter that Disney employees and even Disney himself were Nazi sympathizers. Eye witnesses saw him at questionable meetings. Others claimed he was just trying to court the German market for Disney products, we'll never know. Later, he also ratted out some communists he knew. There was also a very heated strike around this time over the low wages he paid (and this battle continues, a lot of people still strongly believe they underpay their workers). Anyway, more than a generation ago before most of our times', people were debating whether Disney is good or evil, lol! The point being, this is a looong controversy and nothing new.

I have nothing to be bitter about Disney. It's not bitterness, it's an opinion based on information that is out there for anyone to read. Some agree, some don't. I've succeeded in not going there though in about five years and I'm doing just fine.

We also sold tickets, had bake sales, raffles, worked many ,many bingos, did fund-raising up the wazoo, just so our kids could go on this trip and then still had to pay x dollars on top of all this. That's what Mothers do. So, yes I researched Disney;I don't take other peoples opinions and make them mine.Knowledge is power, friend.

The problem with statements like this is that you are expecting/demanding others to hold the same opinions you do. I respect that you don't consider Disney fun, but please don't scold others who may feel differently.

We humans are a varied lot. What is fun to one person might seem like torture or madness to someone else. Some people enjoy theme parks, some enjoy camping, and some enjoy both. I would certainly never tell someone who loves spelunking, for example, that they should not like it just because it is not something I would choose to do. Dictating to others what they should do or enjoy is disrespectful (and very Kate-like).

Is Disney a mirage? Of course it is. But millions of people are very happily willing to suspend their disbelief for a short time to escape the daily grind and immerse themselves in an imaginary world.

And the very things you rail against, such as the underground operations, others might view as technological marvels. When you talk about "disgruntled half-costumed Disney characters bemoaning their unpleasant lot and being under very strick (sic) guidelines regarding jewelry, tatoos, etc.," you seem to forget that every employer has rules and regulations that employees must follow. If an employee is uncomfortable working for a particular company, for any reason, he or she can choose to not work for that company.

I get very uncomfortable when I hear people dictating what others should do or like based on their own personal preferences.

This is blog on blog crap that Administrator doesn't want but I'll give a quick recap from my point-of-view.

EDOS was started to shut down and intimidate certain Kate-haters and bloggers. That was over a year ago. During this year all the "anonymous" Kate fans went to that blog to post their most #Vile feelings about "haters" -- including children's names, schools, insults about surgeries (MY kid), work places, and passed relatives.

The posters at EDOS have absolutely no boundries. HBIC "runs" the site and will delete certain, over-the-line comments ... sometimes.

I'm sorry, Admin. but I wanted to explain.

About Walt's employment, is that our business? IF he got that site shutdown I'd happily pay him.

AndiSnark said...

EDOS is a hate the haters site that posts personal information about our families, jobs and digs up posts from 3 years ago to show how hateful the haters are. HBIC runs the site. The posters are from all the fan blogs but they change their screen names.

I am really disgusted by the Duggars'now,as Michelle was filming it all. Why? I thought at first she was just shining the light, so her son wouldn't be afraid,or was filming the injuries for the hospital,Dr.,but no.That would be the last thing I would think of doing if my kid was hurt.

The 'worldly' influence is slowly infiltrating their family and they don't realize it yet. They 'buy used and save the difference,'Jim Bob says, just not with cell phones, I guess. They might get them free, didn't he say they have those towers on their land that they are paid for the use of?

I don't watch them regularly and not since Josie was sick. Can't believe that cameras were allowed in there, the Duggars might have given the other babies in there some consideration, even if not for Josie. The babies are fighting for their lives and don't need stupid , germy TLC cameras and people putting babies in jeopardy.

Can you imagine what that little boy was thinking as his mother filmed him crying and in pain for all the world to see. Shame on you Michelle, time for this show to be cancelled. She is nothing like Kate towards her kids, but she gave the film to TLC for an episode.Money does change people.

Back to the modern technology discussion, my father (who died in '87) was absolutely appalled at Walkmen - remember, the little radio/cassette players with the cheapo earphones. He was a big intellectual, into people and discussion and knowledge, and he thought that the Walkmen were going to lead to a lack of true face-to-face communication among people. I can't even begin to imagine what he would be thinking of today's gadgets!

Amyf, it sure seems that your dad was right on.

I used to deal with Disney employees in trouble for breaking any of the many rules. They could not win. Had to suck it up, follow the rules, and they had a tidy sum at the end of the season.

I've been to Disneyland many times, to DisneyWorld last year with a kid I mentor, along with a friend and her kid. Got good air rates, stayed at the Hilton, great rate, had good food, free in-park transportation, luckily fine weather, really great cool weather, not crowded, and rode all the rides I wanted, and I wanted to ride a lot. I may be old; refuse to give up the fast and jerky rides. Enjoyed the shows and attractions. No bad things to say. I like that it was clean, and I don't care where the hell my trash disappeared to.

Regarding Mrs Duggar not seeming so concerned about the kid, and laughing while walking in hospital next to the gurney with the kid on it, I'd rather have that than my mom who I am sure would have been crying and beside herself and worrying and shaking, etc etc. I feel disloyal saying so, even on line here, but I avoided telling her I had a head ache when I was in my late 40s. Didn't want to hear about it for a week.
BTW, I broke my finger today. Anybody want to make me feel at home by asking about it and suggesting I go to emergency and blah blah blah. Ah the good ole days....

Kate Gosselin’s Long and Lonely Nights
by Sue Buddy

Ever since Kate Gosselin’s rising star crashed and burned on August 15 with the abrupt announcement of the cancellation of Kate Plus 8, she’s been working at staying relevant by creating a website and tweeting with her fans.

After an unusually quiet weekend of non-tweeting, she sent out the plea Friday night, “Will stop in later for a tweetie party if anyone will be here?” Kate’s fans were ecstatic and a good 50 or so promised they’d be waiting with baited breath. The anticipation was palpable and I swear I heard a drum roll off in the distance. An hour went by, her fans itchy fingers and thumbs poised over their social media device of choice, waiting…waiting…and then, “putting kids to bed then I'll be here!” The excitement built until Kate’s signature, “awww” (her usual tweet to a teen’s expression of love) signaled her arrival. Let the fun begin!

The tweets popped up at an astonishing rate, not only bombarding her with probing questions, “What’s your favorite shampoo and rinse?” and ”Do you still make sticky buns at Christmas,” but also sharing their day, “We’re playing Scrabble,” and “My cat is sick.” I couldn’t help but think Kate must have been wondering what The Slutty Housewives of Name a State were doing on their Friday night.

It was an eerie glimpse into celebrity worship and celebrity ego. Eerie and pathetic.

The party ended too soon for the fans. Two hours was not enough of Kate for her greedy “tweeties.” But Kate’s eyes were closing and she’d filled up on enough ego-boosting to get her through the night. Tomorrow would be another day of fun. Maybe Kate would have the kids tear off Campbell Soup recipes that she could copy onto her blog.

I'm not going to get involved in blogging wars. Freedom of speech has it's limits and when that speech is intended to bring harm to others, it no longer is freedom of speech. The particular blog in question has in the past and continues to post information that may be harmful to their intended targets, including the administrator of this blog.

The message wasn't about open discussion or focused on enabling discussion. The message was intended to foment discord amongst a certain radical bunch who frequent that blog with the intent to cause harm, embarrassment and disclose personal information about those they don't agree with.

I've never read that blog until it was brought to my attention yesterday. I've known about that blog by a particular person who use to come on twitter to stir up the pot between me and my disagreements with conversations on this blog. That particular person wanted to name, out and disclose anything and everything they THOUGHT they known about the admin on this blog but no one cared and no one took the bait.

For whatever reason they feel it is okay to bring harm and embarrassment to people, much like you and others who find blogging an outlet to discuss and share issues that are of interest, when they take it to a level that will attempt to disclose your address, employment, credit history, etc, that's beyond freedom of speech.

I took it to their level and got their IP address. Furthermore, I found it necessary to send them a source code that will stop the the extreme they have taken as a matter of inconvenience. Beyond that, I won't disclose what the next step is but trust me, there has been a next step. They'll know before you do and I'll leave it to their devices to either let it be known or not but it won't be a matter of discussion on this or any other blog. There WILL be a set of ears that wears robes not found in upscale hotel rooms that will decide their interpretation of freedom of speech.

We take our blind dog out to our state park for exercise and sensory stimulation (plus, of course, we just love her and want her to have a good time); it is sad to see folks in such a beautiful park surrounded by nature, walking with someone and each are busy on cell phones. They are not in the moment, not enjoying each other or nature.
------------------------
I see your point completely. I love what you do for your doggie. :)

Technology has ruined lives, yet made them better. I can't explain it. When I'm outside in my yard, drawing, sketching, writing, whatever, I like to hear the sounds around me, so the cell stays in, along w/ the i-Pod. When I drive to the park w/ my dog & my child & my husband, & we're sitting in the grass, watching the leaves fall from the trees, I don't want my phone to ring & or watch my husband play his games on his phone. I love talking with them, feeling the earth around me...(The hippie in me!)

You made such a beautiful point. Unfortunately, people are so "tapped in" these days. It's like a need. Facebook keeps me in contact with a relative in Asia. But I LOVE your imagery so much better....

Emma, rule 4.

You really feel sorry for kids who don't experience Disney? It's just one childhood experience that some kids love, fine, but other kids are fine to skip. How did kids survive before Disney? It reminds me of the conversation we're having about smartphones. People are told they have to have a smartphone they can't afford to get by in life so people buy them. Just like people are told they have to have their kids experience Disney so people go into debt to take them. Sigh.

I DO agree with you about adults that have creepy obsessions with Disney. I know a couple who does and it's weird. It's all they talk about. He did an internship there (the internship scam), they honeymooned there, they MOVED from L.A. to Orlando and he works in the park now. They are in their late 20's no kids yet. Weird.

I like what someone said about how of course it's a crafted fantasy experience, and for some people that floats their boat. But for others it definitely does not. I never went as a kid. Don't feel sorry for me, I had a great childhood.

Kate Gosselin’s Long and Lonely Nights
October 15, 2011 01:00 PM EDT (Updated: October 15, 2011 01:54 PM EDT)
by Sue Buddy

I'm absolutely astonished at Kate's lack of good judgement regarding the safety of Mady and Cara. I've always known she had the nurturing instincts of a pit viper but this latest incident is beyond the pale even for her.

Kate Gosselein we know you read this blog so I'm going to say my piece and be done with it. Listen up you dimwitted fame whore, you do not let your children eat anything given to them by a stranger; and before you try to twist that fact to suit your self, yes, everyone on the internet that you have not met and interacted with is a stranger. This includes your tweeters and fans. I'm hoping against hope that you said the twins were eating the candy so you wouldn't hurt that tweeter's feelings; the sad thing is that we even have to question that. Didn't you ever learn to say/tweet a proper "thank you"? Here's an example: "Thank you for the lovely candy and cards, what a kind and thoughtful gesture." You really are not mentally sharp if you didn't realize that putting that candy eating tweet out there for all to see reinforces the public perception of you as a greedy, cold, and uncaring mother and I use the term "mother" very loosely. If you did this to cause controversy then just remember that Karma is a bitch.

Haha! That tweeter comment was funny.

Not only did I make it passed third grade, I taught third grade for 11 years ( and fourth for another 5 years ). I went on to get two graduate degrees and now I teach teachers how to teach third through sixth grade. I've got my National Board Certification, which was one of the most academically challenging things I've ever done, to boot!

Go me...yay!

I think the issue here is, people who made it passed third grade can see through Kate and all her shenanigans and aren't afraid to call her out on it. Folks with lesser intelligence feel more comfortable with celebrity worshiping, even when the "celebrity" is an asshat.

She hasn't said. Yes, they've all had bikes for a long time. I doubt they outgrew the old ones since I haven't seen them shoot up in height. The timing of the tup's bikes is a bit odd; it's not birthday time and it's too early for Christmas and it's right before winter when they'll get the least use of them and they'll be stored for most of the time, but... if it means the kids are outside and enjoying fresh air and time away from her, then I say YAY for the kids!

(((((((

Amen. In the first place, she should discourage fans from sending ANYTHING at all. I've never once see her do this. What is wrong with her?

I think that I may have mentioned this some time ago, but when I was with "my" celebrity, it was an unspoken rule that he and others in his group NEVER ate anything given by a fan, even if that fan was a groupie or a faithful follower. They were still strangers. Many times there were fans who showed up with pans of lasagna, cupcakes, cookies, even gallons of punch. It was confiscated by the crew or by security, who thanks them for their generosity, and then backstage it was dumped into the trash. Even if fans showed up with birthday cakes, the treats were disposed of. There were times, though, that the crew may have been starving, and if the cakes looked really good, they'd say, what the heck, and would sneak some bites. We'd laugh and say we'd check up on them in about an hour to see if they were still alive.

I just hope that Kate really isn't this dumb, and that she did throw everything away, but just wasn't smart enough to tell the fans thank you for your kindness and let it go at that. She just don't have the brain cells to know how to handle such a situation.

I wonder if she lets the kids eat Halloween candy they got trick or treating before she's checked it.

Sherry----I also have been asking the question but no one seems to have an answer? Walt is claiming he is powerful enough to send worm viruses to shut down websites? And smart enough to publicly post that he sent a worm?
I for the life of me cannot understand why he is still not gainfully employed as a police officer/lieutenant whatever he claims he was. His merit on Twitter and several blogs has proven very little credibility.

=========
I am confused about this, too. How does a blogger have the power to shut down a site and then be stupid enough to take credit for sending an internet worm? Something definitely is not right here, and I think that we've seen this over and over again. Someone said not too long ago that it's never known who is going to show up - the nice one, or the angry one, and this certainly is scary. Why is a former detective or whatever so obsessed with Kate as to set himself up on Twitter like this, going after everyone and anyone who just happens to be there at any given moment?

I know nothing about EDOS, have never been there, and have no desire to do so. They certainly are, however, getting publicity with this latest tweeting frenzy.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Sweet Charity, not only is that my experience too, but it's just plain common sense. You don't take food from "fans" no more than you would take food from a stranger who approached you on the street.

I don't know how you explain to the twins about stranger danger when you're eating food from strangers and emailing them, etc. It's not consistent.

Look I'm sure this person is PROBABLY perfectly harmless, but probably doesn't cut it. It's about boundaries and it's about being cautious and realizing that fans DO hurt their celebs or try to and the last thing you do is put your children in the middle of it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

One more thing I love how she always has to drop in it's not a phone but an iphone. Her fifth!

It's show-offy and insensitive to a lot of her fans who probably can't afford 200 dollar (and more) phones and 70 bucks a month (and more) plans. And there would be nothing wrong with that, but get a sensitive bone in your body.

As for the third grader comment, not only is it not true (we've seen the stats for this site and we're actually highly educated) but people who make fun of "lack of education" are just overcompensating for whatever short-comings in themselves they are agonizing over.

amyf, let's go back to that email/retweet analogy.

Some people forward emails to others because they want to share those with people they know. It might be something funny, sentimental, a political or humanitarian cause, etc. etc.

It's the same thing with a retweet. Kate wants to share that tweet (or retweet it) to her followers because it's something she thinks they might enjoy, want to know about, etc. etc.

It's not just some crazy move that only applies to Kate and her twitter fans. Some celebrities use retweeting to pass along a message to their twitter fans ie. donate to Japan earthquake relief, support a cause, etc. and ask their fan followers to retweet to their followers and so on...spreading the message to as much people as possible.

Marie said...

What is going to happen to Kate if one day she can no longer grift for things she wants? I mean I know there will always be that one who falls for a charity case pity plea but really.

If you look at the situation as a rational person: she is unemployed with no future job aspects either in entertainment or nursing coming through. She has bills that need to be paid, tuition, utility, clothing and extra, car payments and etc.

Question: How is she sustaining herself and her kids? How?

No normal person, actor or otherwise without paycheck would be able to survive comfortably from August until October without some form of money coming in. Even if she's managed with her coupons and saved money to live off, "for a little while," shouldn't the reality of finding a job be priority?

Oh, no! Instead she's too worried about tweeting, telling people she almost lost her connection to her fans because she almost dropped her phone in some coffee. She spends more time chatting up tweens and others than it appears she does actually looking for work.

Her reputation does not appear within her favor to even get a good nursing job. I mean she may have renewed her license but she's been out of practice for 6 or so years. Her attitude of one of her kids bleeding and, "Ashley, take her," suggest to me even if she became a nurse how is she going to cope having to actually take care of somebody? She surely couldn't be able to pass them off to someone else.

Sorry but with all her happy tweeting exchanges does not quite add up with her comments on magazine covers she is truly worried about living. And it's too bad people fall for the pity me I have 8 kids act. Other families have 8 or more kids and the majority of them you don't see them asking for reality TV shows or begging for donations, do you?

Marie,

Right now, she's either living off the interest of the money the kids made over the years (that's only if she socked away MOST of it, which I doubt), or she's living off the principal savings and any interest it is making. I think the second scenario is more likely.

Even with big bills to pay, you can make millions last you a bit. Two months? Sure. Six months, even, if she's careful.

But the serious grifts have either come to an end or are quickly coming to an end and she can't pay the mortgage with Starbucks cards and Target cards. So girlfriend is going to either eventually blow through all the principal savings she has and have to get a job or she'll smarten up and get a job before it's all gone, but no matter what, she's NOT going to find a job that pays what the show did and what DWTS did and what the two books did.

I think she's still in denial about the fact that no one in the media world wants her.

I am thinking the Quiverful belief is to have as many children as God will give you. No birth control...no fertility treatments...just what happens naturally. That to procreate is part of our being, to sustain life and to be productive and protective of the earth and to prosper, as well, thereby the show, and to recruit (the exposure). They have just given them a name now, we used to as kids refer to them in other terms that don't bear repeating. They have been known to have that placid look about them that we see in the Duggers and in particular the way they handle calamities. I grew up in the deep South and knew quite a number of them. They are very steeped in their religion and cannot be persuaded against it. So I guess what I am saying, without ever having watched a show is that they are most likely genuine with the purest of intentions.

Two months isn't much if she has tons of money. I'm curious to see how things are (if she's even still on Twitter or her site) this spring. February will be six months after the TLC cancelation.

It's also possible she's being paid a certain amount by TLC (though I doubt it's as much as she used to get) through February, but I've gone on record as doubting that scenario. I think TLC cut her loose.

I am not making a judjment about any religious beliefs. That said, I agree that this is how the Duggars started out. I think that they HAVE been influenced in a negative way by TLC and having a show.

I agree Dulcina, I think reality TV is highly under-rated in the damage that can be done i.e. with Khate being the perfect reality TV persona. I see it happening now with Sister Wives as well. Their world has been turned upside down and they are too jaded by the money to step away. With that being said, I also think they are more about the polygamy of it all and less about religion.

Amen to all that regarding Kate--she's definitely passive/aggressive--a hideous trait. And I haven't read much of this thread because the entire Duggar family just turns me off, but mostly the parents...Michelle w/ her baby voice just sends me over the edge. And I have a huge problem w/ parents who keep producing babies only because they can and because they provide a huge source of income, whether through filming or government assistance, which should be illegal. What kind of mother could film her severely injured child in place of being right by his side. Can't take it and don't understand TLC's obsession w/ it.

***********************************************

I know it's just her constant whinning of how broke she is then she turns right around to afford the most lavish item!

Reality if going to hit and it's going to hurt is all I can say Dallas Lady. And she isn't going to like it. It's really hard to pity someone who whines this much you know? I've seen people without less be more grateful than she's ever been.

Her one time charity thing in another state, what PA isn't good enough for her? Her hoping to rescue kolala bears in another country? What a local state animal or shelter isn't good enough for her?

I've never known a 36 year old woman to whine so much that's the thing. I'm 22 years old, I'm on student loans up to my neck with bills of my own, no kids yet but come on, do I have time to whine? No.

...Sorry but with all her happy tweeting exchanges does not quite add up with her comments on magazine covers she is truly worried about living...

Successful actors go for years sometimes living quite comfortably between jobs and while we don't see them standing in employment lines submitting resumes every week, most have managers looking for their next project. Kate has a manager who I'm sure she's paying to find her a job - at least I hope she is because her twitter account isn't pulling in many offers!

If Kate doesn't seem desperate for work, I think it's because she doesn't need to work. I believe she has the money invested and is very comfortable for the time being grifting and accepting comped perks for everything from hair to trips to clothes. I do think she's concerned but not desperate about the future and I think she'll be just fine for the awhile.

Putting my daughter to bed was a really special time for both of us during all her baby and childhood years. Such incredibly precious memories I have of singing to her and rocking her to sleep, then when she was about three or four, she started singing with me (quiet, calm songs). As she got even older (5-9 years old), bedtime was when we both laid on her bed and talked and talked. That's when I found out stuff about her friends, school, etc.

Not to mention all the reading! I read to her and later she read to me EVERY night. My husband used to say bedtime could be five times shorter if I would cut out all that other stuff, but I felt like her childhood was fleeting and those memories would be more precious to me than anything.

And they are. She's nearly an adult now and I'm so glad I put in all that time singing, rocking, reading, talking and giggling with her.

I've never seen that with Kate and her kids. Granted, I only had one, but she still could have bonded with them. The other night, she talked on twitter about letting them cry themselves to sleep even as little babies and not rocking them, etc. We all saw how she had them take super long naps every day.

She's missed so much. That's why I've never understood he claims of her supporters that we're jealous. Far from it. I feel sad thinking about how very much she's missed out on.

I don't believe for a minute Kate was telling the truth when she said they were eating that chocolate. First of all, chocolate is full of fat and calories. Kate doesn't allow fat or calories. Kate had a fit when the kids were at Jodi's and she gave them each some candy - "was it organic?" she asked Jon. No. Oh. (eyeroll)

I think that was Kate's way of saying Thanks for the chocolate and the cards. It sounds nicer to say you enjoyed it than to say you threw it in the trash because it was too full of fat and calories. Even Kate can figure out that gets you no stars in fans' eyes.

Of course, she is opening herself up to have lots of trash in the future. She needs to post the address of her favorite Starbucks on her web site so all gift givers can contribute to her iPhone's swimming pool. Snark.

Fair Warning - OT but fun....

I just watched the first two episodes of Revenge... a new 'scripted' TV drama...

Set in the Hamptons, the characters are richy-rich dudes and dudettes, many of them very bad people indeed, as in evil, corrupt and immoral.

The premise is 'righting wrongs'. For anyone who might be looking to fill some hours in front of the tube, this beats the socks of kart by a country mile...

Fabulously fantastical, extremely escapist fun. The main character exacts her revenge in delightful ways, serving justice to those immoral baddies.

Going to watch the last two episodes on Comcast OnDemand. As I was watching, I couldn't help but think good scripted drama is ever so much better that reality vomit.

Recommend it for wishful watching.... LOL

I always thought HBIC stood for Head Bitch In Charge.

I dont know who Sue is on Gather.com but I think I love her! I wish I would have written that, spot on word for word.

PS I have never been to a Disney place and it doesnt interest me in the least. I would rather go to Vegas, and we do, almost every year (although we skipped this year.) I love local fairs for rides, crowds, stage shows and fried food; and Scottsdale AZ for resorts; Wash DC for education and monuments; Nashville for the honky-tonks and seeing my daughters and meeting their celebs; and Vegas for ev-er-y-thing!

Does she say that the car was in motion when it happened? Could she have stopped for coffee at a drive-thru, taken off the lid to put cream or whatever into it, and nearly dropped her phone into the cup?

Or was she at church where coffee was served after the service, meant to drink it there, but she took it along without the lid (not too smart)?

SmileyGirl - There are countless stories of celebrities being stalked, threatened or even murdered by their "fans": Rebecca Shaeffer (My Sister Sam) and Theresa Saldana are good places to start if you really can't fathom why a fan would kill their idol. Look at the Tejano artists Selena, who was killed by the president of her fan club.

To answer your question, yes, many of these "fans" become possessive of their idols and can develop a "If not me, no one" attitude. Many may have mental health issues that impair their sense of reality.

So when people here voice their concern about Kate not setting boundaries with her fans, they're not just being pissy or overreactive.

Sweet Charity said...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

To make a name for himself or herself...to have a claim to fame, knowing that this person would be known world-wide for being successful in bringing down a celebrity. In addition, you don't always know that the so-called fan is really a fan. It could be a hater/stalker in disguise. There's no way of knowing what goes through the mind of either a deranged fan or hater.

And yes, there are those who may have thought of themselves as sharing a personal relationship with a celebrity, but if that person is brushed aside by the celebrity, the fan will turn on the celebrity. They won't be ignored. Think some of the obsessive sheeple, particularly those on Twitter who think that they are in an intimate relationship with "their girl," or MammaG. We've seen tweets from some of these tweens and teens in particular, and how desperate they are just to be acknowledged, and the depression they go through when Kate doesn't reply to their tweets.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Why does anyone hurt or kill someone they love? Mentally instability I suppose. There are literally hundreds of examples of fans stalking, harassing, committing suicide over their celeb (Paula Abdul recently), and even killing their celeb.

For many of them, apparently it was disillusionment over not being able to have the close relationship with their celeb they want. They will write a letter and get a reply from the celeb (it might even be an automated letter reply that goes out to everyone, that doesn't matter), they then think they have a "relationship" but when they write again and don't hear back, they get angry. What follows is more aggressive attempts to contact them--sending flowers, food, cards, letters. When no response, stalking behavior--showing up at places they are, even the home. And finally for some, violence. This is why so many of us have remarked how dangerous it is for Kate to throw the fans a bone. And you can literally READ some of the fans' reactions on twitter when she doesn't respond as they hoped (whatever absurd idea of contact that is, I think half them expect Kate to meet up for lunch)--bitterness and disillusionment. Frightening.

This scenerio has played out dozens of times for dozens of celebs. Is Kate so ignorant she has never heard of Jodi Foster's stalker or David Letterman's stalker or John Lennon?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Exactly, Sillimom. For me it has nothing to do with being pissy or overreactive and I don't get that sense from anyone else here.

I may disagree with Kate's parenting choices and the way she is handling the children's money and I certainly don't like her on many levels, but I do NOT want her to get stalked, harassed or killed. And of course I do not want that for her kids. I actually feel an incredible amount of concern over Kate's relationship with her fans because it's really only a matter of time before some unstable fan turns on her. Yes, I fear for her safety and her life. It would be wonderful to be able to interact with your fans and everything is fine, but that's not how it works. And the fact is that a lot of people (not all) who become "fans" in the first place and look for fulfillment in celebs can be inherently unstable. Bad recipe.

What's ironic to me is that we seem to care far more about Kate's safety and LIFE than her own fans do who think it's just fine and dandy for her to interact with everyone the way she does.

Unlike some deranged fans who want Jon to get into a car accident, it makes me literally sick to my stomach to think of ANY celeb, and this includes Kate, putting themselves (and their KIDS) in danger like she does on a daily basis.

This is not an overreaction, how many celebs need to be stalked or even killed for her fans to get it, you HAVE to be careful.

A death threat isn't out of the realm of possibility, and one way to get that mission accomplished is to pose as a fan sending items of food.
I seriously doubt if Kate is stupid enough to eat candy sent by a fan, let alone allow her children to eat it. But, who knows?

Please don't knock Twitter, it's a very powerful information tool. I use it to get up to date news about emergencies happening in NYC and where traffic is and which subways to avoid. When we had that tremor in NYC, twitter was the only tool that was able to tell me what happened since we were all standing in the middle of the streets. Same with the hurricane, I get automatic notices from OEM about tornado and flood warnings without keeping the tv or radio on. (Sam Champion from GMA was tweeting until 2AM, bless him for being so dedicated)

Unfortunately, you have twats like Kreider who uses it to grift and be worship by those homely looking chicks. It's a tool that you can control by picking who or what news source to follow. Of course you have Spammers too on twitter, I get followed by people wishing to sell me something, they eventually fall off the side of the road "when I choose to ignore them and not follow them".

I believe those are the prices if you qualify for an upgrade or sign-up for a two-year contract as an existing or new customer, not the regular price. The iphone4 unlocked costs $549, whereas the new iphone4s unlocked starts at $649 for 16gb.

Kate doesn't eat the stuff her children make. What makes anyone think she eats the stuff other kids or teens make? Of course the chocolate was probably commercial chocolate, but there must be people sending cookies or home made things too.
It's just all so odd to me.

Because six is better than five said...

Also wanted to comment on "chocolate-gate", the grift from the 11 year old UK fan. Notice in Kates first reply when asked if she received the gift, Kate responded "I don't think so.... I'll get mail this week... I'll check...". Tweeter then replied "Um it had some english chocolate a message two cards two bracelets... I sent it 3-4 weeks ago :) thnks for replyig ur the bestx". Upon hearing that there were FREE CHOCOLATE and bracelets and 2 cards ("Grift Cards to Target?" thinks Kate), Kate must have bolted to the Post Office to retrieve the goods as she replied less than 3 hours later "looked in mail! Got it!!!! Girls are reading cards now, smiling at 'mum' and were all eating chocolate! Thanks SO much! Xoxo".
What happened to checking the mail this coming week?
Kate takes a special gas guzzling trip into town to return with the GOODS. The thought of the freebies couldn't wait and maybe, just maybe those 2 cards would be gift cards? One word sums it all up....Pathetic!

Permanent name,

Is that the show where that blonde girl rents a house and is watching the house next to her? She made friends with the son and went to an auction or something there? Bought a painting?

I think I saw part of it one night and I liked it too.The scenery was awesome and the houses, if nothing else.It had a script at least.I forgot about that show, I wanted to watch it.The name doesn't fit, somehow for a tv show.

If Kate truly accepted a food item from someone she does not know, and certainly sounds that way, what on earth does that teach her children? It teaches them that it's okay to accept things from people you do not know just because they are famous. Anyway you look at it's still wrong. Her children are going to learn what she teaches them, and in this case she is not being all that bright.

For Kate who claims she keeps her kids well protected from the crazy people this level of accepting gifts speaks to mind the opposite. The second she started accepting things of this nature from fans, will perhaps only prompt certain crazed fans to go a step further and she has no idea how wide she has opened this door. No she'll just carry on because it's free and she's THE Kate Gosselin.

Disturbing and truly, truly pathetic. How long can she carry on before she gets herself into some amount of danger? She's too old to play the innocent I didn't know card. She is kidding herself and playing with fire and isn't going to like it when she gets burned and there is nobody to blame but herself.

hey jude said...

Lake,
That's the game Kate plays, though, Miss innocent, I didn't know any better, so you can't blame me....I think that is why Steve was there, to protect her from doing and saying stupid things. She will do anything for a free gift, even if it isn't safe.

we go.. Just don't always remember to mention it lol. When I have kids and am home, we're there!

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Kate on church. Why do you need your kids with you to go to church? I know many single parents who show up at church every Sunday whether they have their kids that day. And almost every Sunday she is twattering away in the morning, does she twat in church? That must be the 11th commandment, Put your dang iphone down. Or maybe Jon has the kids a lot more than she is willing to be truthful about? As in what he said, three out of four weekends a month?

Lake Up North said...

hey jude,

I mean its possible but that doesn't fit with road manager does it? LOL.

I am assuming Steve will only stick around for a paycheck even is claims he is now family, I've never heard of a bodyguard on such a personal level with any celeb or otherwise.

Marie-- Even if she can live off interest and savings for 2 months, 6 months to a year her money will eventually run out. I don't see her as having been all that careful with her money. I could be wrong seeing as how almost everything has previously in her life on TV been paid for by someone else.

Folks are free to talk about what they wish to talk about as long as they follow the rules. They always were free to do this nothing has changed.

I don't mind the conversation swaying in the wind, it gives me a sense of what interests people and where I should take the blog. Many post ideas have come from what people are talking about. Carry on.

hey jude said...

Admin., Didn't Kate say she only had the kids one w/e a month lately? Last time someone asked her , she said they listened to the live stream and the kids just ran when it was on.I guess she needs a buddy to go to church with, probably afraid the fans will get her.

hey jude said...

Thanks, Admin., But if anyone starts talking about Disney again, I'm leaving!

Lake Up North said...

Kate babbles with whatever story she thinks at the moment will make her look the best. Going to church either via home service or actually going. She whines it is always a challenge to get 8 kids out the door on time, true and no that she is divorced do you really think she is going to want to lug the kids actually too church, by herself? Sort of doubt it. So whatever she says will make her fans love her more the better it makes her sound for being a mom. If you ask me she wants too much credit.

And even if she did go, she'd better make sure they have No-fat Creamer first! Because that's all she drinks I think.

Hey Jude,

Yes, that's the show, Revenge. I would never have watched it except that I saw a trailer for it and decided to check it out tonight.

We have Comcast so I went to their on demand TV shows, and started with the first one. I think there have only been 4 shows.

I *know* it's 'only a TV show' but it gives me the willies to watch because I'm afraid Emily is going to get caught. eek

The music moves between beautiful, calming and scary as the plot changes during the hour. There is also the main bad female character, Victoria...

All the scenes are beautiful - wildly expensive homes, manicured lawns, polo matches, all the characters wobble around on stilleto heels in the daytime, they have fundraiser luncheons for $10,000/plate. -

Seems like they are shooting for a pretty stereotypical portrayal of rich Hampton folks. Although I have no idea if rich folks really live like that - LOL. A little like Royal Pains setting.

Emily is revenging what the bad characters did to her dad and in my mind she is justified in doing so. I'm just nervous with deception - I know, I know, it's "only" a show..... LOL

Another thing to recommend it is the writing - the past and present is interwoven with good flashbacks. And there is a narrator like with Desperate Housewives.

If you can get on demand, I recommend watching from week 1. I think this coming Wednesday night at 10 PM is week 5.

I really prefer scripted dramas or comedies instead of reality shows and I'm glad they seem to be making a comeback.

hey jude said...

I wonder if she has a special pew at church, like in the balcony, or one closest to the door and the offering plate? Her highness can't sit with the rif raf, now.

She said before she couldn't take all the kids without Jon, but she has Steve now, if he's still living in the garage or basement or wherever .Has he been seen lurking anywhere? Mr. purse carrier boy, I should say!

hey jude said...

Permanent name,

I really like scripted shows too and this one grabs you right away, the characters interplay so well, too.I just saw about half of it and then forgot the name of it.They should call it Revenge in the Hamptoms! There is a kind of scandalous feeling about it, too.I wanted it to be a movie when I was watching it, it was over too quickly. So, it's her Dad with another woman next door? Royal Pains, yeah that's what it's like.

Lake Up North said...

What get's me is Kate can't take her kids anywhere by herself or without a bodyguard, yet Jon has been known to take his kids out for pizza,a lone.

I thougt she got the bodyguard more or less for her kids and not her personal use? Whoops, guess not.

Wonder how she'll like associating witht he rif raf when she has to get a mediocre job at some point. Maybe not this month, or a few months down the road but she doesn't strike me as the time to have saved and in her own words, "We have enough money for a little while." Little while doesn't mean forever. Boy am I glad I live nowhere near a local PA hospital to work with her, what I nightmare that might be!

hey jude, yeah that's for asking about hint-hint, all went well this time around.

It's time said...

I guess it's time for me to leave. I don't come here to read about what others watch on tv.

I guess it was inevitable that we would run out of things to talk about now that Kate's done.

So long blog!

Dwindle and Hippie - I'm in the middle of watching the marathon (DVR'd) of The Walking Dead. I can't decide yet if I like it enough to stick with it, and I'm not yet getting attached to any of the characters. I was trying to figure out the basic premise - did it say at any time how this situation occurred? Either they didn't, or I missed it. Was there any background given? And it seems similar to another series I saw in the last year or so, set in England I think, about survivors who were immune to some plague and were wandering around searching for other pockets of people. Anyone remember what that one was called?

That is so weird you said that. My grandfather & I were just talking about that yesterday. He said that all this new technology was "ruining a good dinner. We used to sit at the table & talk, no TV's, no music, no phones, nothing!" I told him we did that at our house, (except we listen to music) but when he gets going, there's no stopping him. :)

I always wonder how the older generation thinks of this newer technology. I mean really, I can hardly keep up half the time!

We are an iPhone family. Between my husband, two daughters and me, we have four of them, plus two iPads. The colors available are black or white. Not that I'd be interested in a pink iPhone, (I tire of colors quickly) but where on Earth do you get a pink one? Does Apple make a "celebrity" version? Just kidding, but unless she's buying a cheap knock-off, it sounds phony to me. I've seen her pink phone, but it doesn't look like an iPhone to me. Anyone know what she's talking about? She also talked about the iPad like it was so novel to her. If she really is on her sixth iPhone, the iPad would be very familiar to her since it's just a large iPhone w/o the phone.

Also, one of her original "tweeties" (Milo)is starting to scare me. She's becoming very demanding and passive/aggressive. I hope she is just a dumb hick from the south (far from PA) like she claims to be, but that one should be watched. (no offense to the south, she's just particularly hillbilly) Like Kelly seems unstable, this one does, too. (more unstable than her typical unstable fans)

She is a total fool to be engaging with these weird fans on such a personal level. If it bites anyone in the ass, I pray it's not one of the helpless children. Each one of those fans is expecting more and more out of her. They are a bottomless pit of need to match Kate's bottomless pit of need for attention and adulation. It's a dangerous mix.

Oh boy!!!! A new Menu Monday just posted.....

I wonder which soup can recipe she chose from today?

Wait, I bet she is going for randomness and variety - probably she chose from the back of a box this time......

Let's see... Bisquick, egg, milk and a dash of vanilla, pour onto griddle, flip and douse in organic syrup: "KART'S Pretty Pancakes" - yum.... Eight wee tiny little dollar pancakes for her growing $$$$$$$$.

There you go - another original kart recipe.....

Can't wait to hear about what lie she posts today. I can't bear to go to her site, so I'll wait for whoever here takes the bullet for the group.

iPhones can be customized at any Target store, and a bunch of other places that sell plastic junk. Jackets that change the appearance are readily available.

The shells can be hard plastic or silicone. Pink is nothing special, though, obviously, appealing to at least one idiot.

Menu Monday! October 17, 2011
Hello all my kitchen dwelling friends! For today’s “Menu Monday,” we have two fun recipes! I created my own version of Chicken Fajitas and Personal Pizzas! These are both Gosselin kid favorites and receive cheers when I announce them for dinner! So…

Chicken Fajitas

Ingredients:
2-2 1/2 cups cooked shredded chicken breast
12 medium flour tortillas
24 ounces of salsa; I use “medium”
2 cups Mexican style shredded cheese blend
6-8 ounces low fat sour cream
1 cup each finely chopped onion and multicolor peppers (my kids prefer onions only)
1/2 tsp parsley flakes

Chicken Fajita night!
Instructions:
Layer a 9 X 13 pan with a thin layer of salsa. Take a flour tortilla and spread a tablespoon of salsa, a pinch of baked chicken, shredded cheese, onions, peppers and top with sour cream. Be careful not to overfill because you won’t be able to roll it!
Next, roll the ends in and tightly roll the tortilla and place in the baking pan. Use a toothpick to hold it closed if necessary (just don’t forget to remove before serving!)
Repeat process and nestle all tortillas into pan.
Cover with remaining salsa making sure to cover all edges of tortillas so they don’t get hard and crunchy while baking. Top with remaining cheese and a sprinkle of parsley.
Bake at 350 degrees until heated through and salsa is bubbly!
Serve with refried beans or your choice of rice and steamed veges

Gosselin Kid rating: 9

Personal Pizzas

This is the best night of my kids’ lives when we have personal pizzas! I found thin flat breads called “Flatouts” at my local Wegmans and ever since, pizza night is a snap!
I use pizza screens (exactly that – round screens for baking pizzas) and 8 “Flatouts” fit nicely on them. You can use any type of pizza pan though, preferably one with the vent holes in the bottom though.

Personal pizza night - Alexis style!
Ingredients:
8 Flatouts – small or large size
16-20 ounces Don Pepino pizza sauce (THE best) or make your own!
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Toppings – I offer pepperoni, onion, bacon or ham, mushroom, onion, green pepper, olives
I take “personal” orders, create (kids help!) and bake on pizza screens at 450 degrees for about 8 minutes until cheese is melted and crust is lightly browner and crunchy!
Sometimes I make my kids first initial of their name with their toppings to keep them straight! :)

I serve with homemade red potato fries and ceaser salad!

Oh, and I make myself a pizza too. Small Flatouts are only 60 calories each and I pile mine high with sauce and veges and just skip the cheese!

Gosselin Kid Rating: 11 :)

I hope dinners in your house receive rave reviews this week! Here’s hoping….more recipes coming soon!

xoxo

You can also get a custom skin for any of your phones (not just the iPhone) from skinit (NO, I don't work for them but do customize my phones). They fit your phone, iPad/Pod like a glove and they're removable and don't cost a lot. I'm surprised that she hasn't had her phone customized with a picture of herself or the 8. Then she'd have her "gr88888888" iPhone.

I took a bullet said...

The Kate post includes a picture of her fajita casserole. It doesn't look like enough food to feed 8 children in my opinion. She says to use 12 tortillas. That's not even two fajitas for each child. She does say to serve with beans OR rice and veggies.

The other picture is of a small little pizza and some salad (just romaine lettuce so it may be a caesar salad) on a PAPER PLATE.

Because it's a regular paper plate you can tell just how small the pizza is. It's maybe 5 inches across, if that.

Laurie said...

What is a "pinch" of baked chicken? I've heard of a "pinch" of salt. We're currently stationed in the SW and her "fajitas" sound more like enchaladas. Fajitas normally are served on a sizzling plate with all the veggies and you roll your own with whatever you want in it. This is how I've always had fajitas in El Paso, Las Cruces and AZ in general (I don't make them myself). Dallas Lady, how are they served up your way?

I took a bullet said...

Oops, yes it was a caesar salad. She wrote it in her recipe. I didn't really read her recipe until just now. She says she leaves the cheese off her pizza because of the calories! She JUST wrote that the flatout flatbreads are only 60 calories.

Catherine said...

I understand all about skins and covers for phones and iPods. She always refers to it as her pink iPhone. Mine has a flower design on it. I don't refer to it as my flowery iphone. It's just a phone.

Dallas Lady said...

UH THOSE ARE NOT FAJITAS!!!

Ug, I'm actually offended by her stupid non-recipe. She's ATTEMPTING to make chicken enchiladas, but those aren't even enchiladas. I know she thinks that gallon of salsa makes it work, but she actually needs a creamy cheese or red (mole) sauce to keep that shit from drying out.

Where's the cumin? Parsley? Parsley flakes? Ah well, she does live in Pennsylvania.

Laurie is right, fajitas are grilled meat, usually marinated in advance, sliced up after grilling and resting, served with sliced grilled onions and bell peppers with tortillas, shredded cheese, guacamole, sour cream, etc. Fajitas are not Mexcain, they are Tex Mex.

And yeah, a pinch of baked chicken? What is that, a tablespoon? Sheesh. Her chicken is probably flavorless. Those poor kids probably wouldn't know good tasting food if it smacked them in the face.

Her personal pizzas: this is original? People need a recipe for that? I make a cornmeal pizza dough in my bread machine, then finish preparing it outside of the machine and roll out/throw some crusts. We use Mezzetta's sauce, best I've ever had that is in a jar, and then everyone builds their own.

Someone apparently told her (voice in her head?) she's a good cook, because anyone else would be embarrassed to pass these off as original (or in the case of her chicken "fajitas," good).

I hope Hey Jude will forgive just one more post about Disney. I've been gone the past few days and didn't get in on the earlier discussion. I took my 70+ year old mother to Disney World some years ago. First time for the both of us. We both LOVED it. Mom wasn't much for rides, and I get motion sickness just watching a roller coaster, but we went on a couple of the tame rides in Magic Kingdom. What we really enjoyed, though, was EPCOT. The various country pavilions were beautiful and educational. There were several informative rides in the various pavilions and being able to talk to employees from the various countries was enlightening. I could spend a year there and still not see/learn everything available. We went at Christmas time, and, although there were crowds, it was well-controlled, efficiently handled, and we didn't have a long wait anywhere we went. Food was a bit expensive but no more so than if we were to go out to dinner at a mid to high range restaurant. We stayed at a Red Roof Inn near the main gate -- free shuttle to the park, plus free shuttle available to Sea World, which is nearby. All in all, a very enjoyable vacation and not too terribly pricey.

I can't believe Kate twats about nearly drowning her iphone on the way back from church. Katie dear, there are several ways to avoid that. 1) PUT THE FRELLING PHONE AWAY when you are in church or in the car. And 2) Put a lid on the coffee! Dumbbell!

Lake, good to see you back and posting. Hope this means you've had the baby. Boy or girl? Hope all is well.

Marie -- Open container laws apply to alcoholic beverages. The assumption (reasonable) being that if you have an open can or bottle of alcohol in the car, you are indulging in said beverage. Since drinking/driving is illegal, a citation is issued. So far, it isn't illegal to drink juice or coffee or soda, etc., in a car.

Kate's recipes still sound pretty bland and unoriginal. Who hasn't made individual pizzas to order at some point? The formula is as varied as there are ingredients. She serves potatoes with pizza? Seriously? For someone who's so conscious of calories/carbs that doesn't make any sense. The "fajita" recipe isn't fajita, unless she's calling it that because of the peppers and onions in it. And most Mexican dishes wouldn't put the sour cream in before cooking, but would use it as a topping. Again, it doesn't sound very tasty, nor very filling for 8 kids.

I guess I'm hopelessly behind the times. I don't have an iphone, too expensive, and I'm not sure I'd want one if I could afford it. I'm perfectly content with my 5 year old cell phone. It drives me crazy sometimes, but I can make and receive calls and that's what's important. For someone crying poormouth all the time, Kate sure has expensive wants/needs/plans/desires.

------

Exactly. You can even stay inside the Disney park at at Disney hotel without going bankrupt. Two of the hotels there are very affordable. If you want it to be pricey, it's pricey. If you go for the high-end hotels, expensive dinners, it can be very expensive. It is what you make it. A family of four can have a very nice vacation if you know when to go, what to do, where to stay, and find affordable discount plans, then it's not too hard on the budget. It's all in planning ahead of time and sticking within that budget. I agree about Epcot. My kids would be just as happy not doing the Magic Kingdom and spending most of the time at Epcot, with a day at MGM (they love the Tower of Terror), the shops there, and the back lot tours. We never get tired of Epcot. There is so much you can do without even getting on a ride that's going to spill your lunch! One thing we won't do, however, is go during the summer when it's so very hot that it's just not enjoyable.

ICK! She cooks the sour cream inside the tortilla?
I've never heard of that and it sounds awful. Hot sour cream is not for me, that's for sure.

I really think this is a typo. I think she really means to cook the "fajitas" and serve them with a topping of sour cream.

I agree, these are not fajitas. And enchiladas usually have enchilada sauce, don't they? So, really they are not either one. They are "Kate's Rolled Up Meal" and nothing more.

Yeah, Kate, I'm waiting with bated breath for your
cookbook.
