Kate picks up four of sextuplets from school yesterday

Those kindergartener backpacks look so stuffed full. Perhaps with make-up work? We feel so sorry for the kids about how much school they’ve been forced to miss. backpacks

At least she or more than likely the nanny makes sure they're dressed in warm jackets and boots. Kate looks like she's coming apart at the seams.

Too bad they have to be photographed doing what all their classmates do on a daily basis without having a pap follow them around, thanks to their mother making sure they remain exposed. I recall her saying at the beginning of this fiasco that she wanted to make her childrens lives as normal as possible (Surviving Sextuplets and Twins One Year Later). That went south when she saw how many dollars those babies could rake in. Twelve almost identical photographs of four of the Gosselins tups getting picked up from school just isn't "normal". Satisfied yet Kate? Or do you still want more?

The backpacks might also contain their snowpants/bibs. My kids go to preschool in their full snowsuits, and after they play outside the teachers put the snowpants in plastic bags and then in their backpacks. Their packs look big and bulky like the ones in the photos.

Or, they could contain the mounds of work the G kids had to make up while they were working to support their mother's lavish lifestyle. Who knows.

OK recap
Let's see shopping / mail /tanning photos then school bus photos - next should be photos coming or going to court ... some where a boo who for me session on the Today show while promoting the TLC big trip down under - you know they have to make that a few episodes worth.
What possibly keeps people tuning into that show ? Just can't understand it !

Here's what I don't get...
If Kate really wanted privacy from the paps, why doesn't she just drive her kids to school. Seriously it's not that far away from where she lives. It's a 45 min. drive straight down 222. Most people are commuting the other way. The kids could have privacy from the paps. She wouldn't have to 'fake complain' about being followed, etc.

The other two are already home alone with the nanny/homeschool teacher as it is...Why can't she do something that helps her children have some privacy during their daily activities? Oh that's right, this is Kate we're talking about...Never mind.

Yes, they really missed alot of school. I hope Kate and TLC do not pull the children out of school again. Very disruptive.

As far as the backpacks looking full, that reminds me of my own kiddies when they were in grade school (many moons ago ;o) ). They came home daily with backpacks that were full like that. As a matter of fact, it was a big ball of contention with all the district parents, because alot of the children were complaining of back aches due to the weight on their backs. That is was when children started using backpacks with wheels- but, that came with a whole bunch of other issues as well.

Anyway...

Looks like Chris the pap was busy that day.

It's not ON Route 222, though. You have to get off the highway and go through rush hour traffic to get to the school. Don't forget -- she'd have to drive home (another 45 minutes), then back to pick them up (another 45 minutes), then home again (another 45 minutes). 45 times 4 equals three hours for her on the road. Why do that when there's a bus available and the kids could BE AWAY FROM HER during that time? If you were a Gosselin kid, would you want to ride in the car with Kate for ninety minutes every day?

I don't blame her for not driving the kids to school, especially in winter weather. I'll give her a pass on that one (the ONLY time!). I know a mom who did drive her son to school from Reading, but only for a short period of time because, while she did say it was a tiring commute for her, her son actually preferred being on the bus with his friends. Maybe Kate's kids do, too.

Better to have stayed in E-town...18 minutes from school, easy commute down 283 - no problem, and would have been so less tiring for the kids.

fidosmommy said...

Why would 6 year olds need to be lifted into the van? They are small, but still strong and agile enough to manage as long as they don't have to haul their heavy backpacks up with them.
I've seen them scramble up before. Maybe Kate's in a big hurry in these pictures?

Kate could also put down a small step stool for them to use.

I can't imagine that Kate has a gentle hold on them when she lifts. We all remember the way she pulled them off the van to enter the bus on the first day of school. She is not gentle.

My guess is the twins either had after school activities or have demanded they not be photographed anymore during school/post school activites? May even be getting a ride home with other local non-celebrity kids, as they do not to wish to deal with this Kate's pap (Chris arranged photos for $$) pics related to their schooling. There may actually be some boundaries here once any kid does not consent or wish to photographed, as the twins are now old enough to express resentment of their privacy invaded....(Not during filming).

And then there were four...

In addition, INF has a story about Kate and Steve's parents (taken from the Star): "Kate started off by running over an hour late, which offended Steve’s parents. Then she wore one of her classic low-cut tops which exposed way too much boobage. She couldn’t remember their names."

I laughed out loud at that one. I didn't know that Kate gave names to her new boobage. Does she call one "tit" and the other one "tat?" Yes, I know that the article meant Steve's parents' names!

My eldest daugher is nearly exactly the same age as Kate, works full time, is completing her PhD, her husband is deployed, plus she manages the kids and her household and pretends to balance her own limited finances. She is fresh and thin, energetic and pretty and is oh-so-approachable. She dresses professionally for her job. The differences in age-appearance are shocking.

If Kate saw the world like the rest of us do, she would cringe at the idea that trips to strip malls and bus stops are all she is known for, and she would start doing something worthy of note. Like stand with the firemen on street intersections to collect funds in a boot (for charity), or volunteer to serve a meal for the VFW, or whatever. It would seem to the average
person that waking up with a plan and a purpose to help others each day gives one joy. The average person would find it rewarding in many ways, and would pass the concept to her children.

That is just so sad. I know young children who search the bleachers/chairs/crowd for their parents at school events. They are delighted when they find them in the crowd. Even if the parents don't live together, they still so often want to see both there.

I was getting my post-graduate degree and could not feel "right" until I saw my parents in the

This is so true. I've known very busy professionals (in the entertainment industry, as well as the legal and medical field) who put everything on hold just to be able to attend all of their children's school events, whether it be a holiday program, sports event, or a conference that could have been scheduled over the phone. They are THERE.

On the other hand, though, as you pointed out, what if she showed up dressed in her infamous garb? Nobody at the school wears clothing like this. These are "normal" parents with conservative tastes in attire. No kid wants to be embarrassed if he sees his mom in the audience with boobs exposed, leggings and stilettos. I'm wondering, though, if they have become immune to the stares and snickers. They are used to it by now. However, their friends aren't, and it's the reaction that would come from their peers that would be disconcerting.

Kids want their parents to "fit in". If Mom and Dad came to school dressed like hippies or
in goth outfits while all the other parents were in jeans and cardigans, the kids would be
embarrassed, probably. While kids like to express themselves through their clothing and hairstyles, they don't necessarily want their parents to. If Jon wore one of his bizarre Ed Hardy shirt to school, the kids might be upset if other dads were wearing polo shirts.

If only Kate would realize what impact her choices - even small ones - have on her children.

Here's the thing: many parents/loved ones cannot make every recital, school play, teacher's conference, or volunteer because THEY CAN'T.

A "normal" parent is not defined by their choice of clothing. Not all "normal" parents dress conservatively. Maybe the parents at this school should be a bit more open-minded and teach their children not to be so judgmental.

Okay, this hissy fit between the parents whose kids apparently attend the G-8’s school and those who judge them is getting a bit tiresome. To the parents of kids who attend school with the Gosselins: We GET it. Your school is fabulous, your kids are special, you don’t judge, you’re a superior Pennsylvania resident. To those who judge them: YES, you’re judging people you don’t actually know.
Here’s the bottom line: People are people, and NOBODY (member of a school or otherwise) can speak for the ENTIRE parent population of the school that the Gosselins attend. And that goes for you on both sides of the argument. Even parents of kids at the school cannot speak for other parents at the school. I know you feel defensive about your school’s reputation, but you still cannot speak for EVERY family who attends the school. Given that HUMANS attend the school, I am quite certain that the population of parents runs the gamut of human nature. I imagine the parents at the school are much like the parents at any school – they vary from morally upstanding to gossip-y to petty to keeping-up-with-the-Jone’s-y to who-really-gives-a-f*ck, etc. etc. The school the G8 attend is private, but it’s NOT immune to human nature, and I’m quite certain that the families who attend this school are part of human nature. As a local resident, I can say with certainty that those who attend the school are no better or less than any other family/student on any number of levels. They’re people, and they are just like the rest of the human population. The school’s private status does not imbue the families with any moral or social superiority. They’re just people sending their kids to school.
As a local, I have considered sending my kids to the same school when they’re of age (in about a year), but have chosen other options. There are many wonderful schools in the area, and while this school is quite reputable, it is far from the only choice in the area. I actually feel badly that the school has been “outed” and drawn into this useless drama – especially since the Gosselins are truly at d-list celebrity status, and their infamy will fade sooner than later.
As for the “pot meet kettle” comment. I’d apply that to any parent who claims inside info because their kids attend school with the G8, and who also comments here. Yeah, they claim the school is all hush hush and private, and yet they read/post on a Gosselin-blog. I’m sorry, just what color is that kettle???? I’m thinking *green* at this point….

I don't recall any school parent giving out any insider information on the blog that in any way compromised the children's academic privacy, i.e, their teachers and their names, their school activities, programs the kids were involved in (sports, music, etc.), how well they were doing in their classes, if they were seeing the school counselor/therapist (other students would know this and say something to their parents), their behavior, either at school or on the bus, when or if they were going to Australia, when they would return, how the children felt about Ellen, if they hated filming (it's inevitable that kids would talk about this to their peers), the "real" reasons that the children were held back a year...and so much more.

In fact, parents certainly knew which kids were expelled on the day it happened. Something like that can't be kept a secret. And yet this didn't make its way to the internet (blogs and tabloids) until several weeks after the fact. Even then, there was much speculation about who was expelled and for what reason. Insiders who were parents must have known when it happened, but never commented.

Additionally, I remember when the stale sandwich rumor was being tossed about. Kindergarten parents certainly knew if this was true, and I don't remember ever reading a comment by a parent that either confirmed or denied the story. Everything was speculation made by those who had no real inside information.

There was speculation that the kids would not be returning to school after the Australia trip. Some said that they thought that maybe Kate had found a new school or would have all of them home-schooled. Parents certainly knew if these children would be returning, and yet I never read comments from anyone claiming to be a parent who confirmed that the kids would continue as students there.

Clothes commented: "Maybe the parents at this school should be a bit more open-minded and teach their children not to be so judgmental. "

I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but this seems to be a hit below the belt to the parents at the kids' school who might be reading this. It is rather insulting.

You can read details of this at WG's blog. According to the information there, Kate, Jon and TLC will not be commenting. In fact, they are not involved in the production, and from what I understand, none of them was interviewed.
WG, however, was interviewed. I'm not sure how the sheeple are reacting to any of this since I don't go over to the dark side. I imagine that they are totally confused because they don't know if this is going to make Kate look really good, or really bad!

WG says that Jon, Kate and TLC all declined to be interviewed, but that they did interview "family". I certainly hope that isn't Kate's nutty sister or mother and hope it's Kevin and/or Jodi. I'd like to hear about her childhood, if she was the same as she is now and what they think contributed to it.

A "normal" parent is not defined by their choice of clothing. Not all "normal" parents dress conservatively. Maybe the parents at this school should be a bit more open-minded and teach their children not to be so judgmental.

I agree. Although Kate dresses rather...unconsertatively, IF she ever decided to go to a school function, she may just decide to go in jeans & a sweater. She is probably not going to dress like a ho-bag in front of several children & parents, because it won't be a filming excursion.

Fidosmommy...I dress like a hippie quite often, with my long dresses & skirts & tank tops (in the summer) & the winter it's mostly skinny jeans & t-shirts & sweaters & scarfs with all my jewelry (well, I always wear my jewelry) & my son always tells me how beautiful I look. I'm not trying to offend or start anything in the least, but one's person taste is anothers...well, dislikes. I never seem to embarrass him. It's just how I dress & how I feel comfortable, down to the single braid in my hair. I go to his school functions looking like this, & get complimented on a scarf I'm wearing, or my dresses. (I have quite a closet full!) This is who I am anyways, and I don't care if I offend anyone. :)

Fido, the original poster, "Clothes Make" said that parents of the school should learn to be more open-minded and teach their kids not to be so judgmental. That, to me, was a jab at the school parents, suggesting that the parents were narrow-minded and weren't doing their jobs as parents. This was followed by a post (I'm assuming the same person under another name - Pot) that parents who were insiders have blabbed inside gossip on the blog. I responded that the parents of the school have respected the kids' privacy and did not blab when they certainly knew what goes on there.

It gets kind of confusing!

I totally agree that if the kids ever grow up and speak out they're just going to be lumped into the ungrateful liars pile. I've seen this with former child stars who speak out about their childhood. Paul Petersen just wants to be famous, the Olsen twins are ungrateful and exaggerate, Taylor Monsen is a whore (gee wonder how that happened?), Kim Richards is a drunk. It's never the fault of anyone who used and abused these people when they were child stars. Never. They don't see that how pathetic some of these people are is directly related to their f-ed up childhoods. You would think basic maternal instinct would cause a person to tend to rush to the defense of the CHILD in most situations, wouldn't you?

I don't think most of the parents at that school even care about this situation enough to seek out a blog and blab about it. The few that have haven't really said anything earth shattering. We can't even verify those are real parents. I know others disagree but I couldn't agree more with someone who said parents are parents. People are people and most parents anywhere don't care about this crap anymore than the parents at their private school. This proves my point that they could send these kids to wherever and no one would care. She could seek out a cheaper private school or a good public school, there are ways to forum shop public schools, and save a ton of money.

Kate can HAVE a private life without spending all the kids millions to do it. It is a complete cop out that she has to spend all this money to protect them. No, she just wants to feel important because she sends them to posh private school two of them can't even keep up with and has a bodyguard/handler and entourage. It makes her feel like a celebrity, that's all it ever was.

Ya know, the more I read about this E! thing, the more I think this will be the end of Kate. What friends? What neighbors? They all HATE her. They will have nothing but bad things to say. Kate has done NOTHING to redeem herself in the eyes of her fans, her "haters", her stupid-show watchers, she mentally abuses those kids on TV, & it is a proven fact. It is out there for the world to see.

Kate's E THS will be devastating for her. If TLC declined to be interviewed for this, she has no one on her side really, does she? Again, she has no real true friends unless bought & paid & for. There will either be lots of going back & forth & he said/she said, or E! is out to get her. If we write to E & tell them to start checking the blogs, like this one, then maybe they'll see the true Kate. Or maybe they already know, & they will lambaste her. This could be the END for Kate, once & for all. A lot of E! THS do NOT have happy endings, especially for has-been reality crap-bags.

====================

Agreed. She could have stayed in E-town, put an addition on the house if they needed more space, sent her kids to Mount Calvary Christian (her alma mater), done away with all of the expenses of their current house. There are very good private schools in the area that would have served the needs of these kids very well.

I think, though, that the neighbors wouldn't have been too thrilled with Chris showing up on the street at all hours!

Aren't the kids actually helping to pay for their own education since she can dip into their 15 percent to cover education costs? Therefore, why would she worry about how much a private school depletes her assets?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The kids aren't just helping to pay for their private school, they ARE paying for it. Kate doesn't work! Kate makes her KIDS work.

What's so terrible about this situation is when the shit finally hits the fan and this Ponzi scheme collapses and Kate can no longer afford their private school, she will have pulled them out just when they've made good friends and gotten used to the way the school works and bonded with teachers.

Kate has convinced herself this lifestyle is sutainable forever, until the kids are 18 at least. Please tell me she knows deep down it is NOT.

It's sort of like you move the family to Beverly Hills knowing full well you are living beyond your means and that your current income is just in a boom right now but could bust at any moment, knowing you are living on credit cards and Ponzi schemes. You stay there maybe two or three years until finally your reach financial collapse. But now when you move? You have to move the kids from all their friends and neighbors and everything they are used to. It is CRUEL to set kids up like that knowing in the back of your mind there is no way you can sustain it for 18 years.

I'd imagine the show would have to talk about Kate's most famous Hollywood job - Dancing with the Stars. They couldn't do it without interviewing her partner, right? I wonder if Tony will give an HONEST interview this time or if he'll continue to protect his image as a good guy so he can stay employed in tv? Will they interview the crew on the various shows she's appeared on, like ET or The View? Will they be honest or have to be careful about what they say to protect their jobs?

While we believe the stories that have been leaked in regards to Kate's diva like behaviors, I wonder if E was able to get honest stories and interviews from people who are still in the business and have to be sure they're still employable. It's not like E can do all the interviews with people back-lit so their faces don't show and scramble their voices so they remain anonymous; I'm sure these people can't afford to jeopardize their futures just to talk about Kate.

She Works? Dancing With the Stars was almost a year ago and it was FOUR EPISODES. Wow. ET was a few 2 minute segments before she was let go. So if you count that "working" so be it. Let me clarify, 98% of the time Kate is forcing the kids to work. About 2% of the time she actually might find a job of her own--and when she does she talks about the kids the whole time and uses them and their personal lives and exploits them more. She couldn't shut up about the kids on DWTS. She used them all the way to the end.

If someone prefers to mooch off the money their kids make but does a four week contracting job for just four weeks in April 2010 would you say they "work"? Or would you say they are lazy and need to get off their butt and find a real job and support their family by themselves?

Meanwhile the kids made 150 episodes. And counting.

But if they actually tracked down Beth or people similarly situated now that's a whole other story. Beth actually knew Kate, Beth has the authority to comment on Kate. What will they say to that if she says something negative, that Beth is jealous? Actually it was Kate I think jealous of Beth. Kate wanted BETH's lifestyle, not the other way around. What does Beth have to be jealous of? Beth had all the perks of Kate's family--getting to babysit the cute kids, going to the spa with Kate, going on free trips--without all the bad stuff.

Admin, your selective perception is so astonishing. You are forgetting about so much of the WORK Kate does. First of all, she has to be both awake and sober while the children are being filmed. And don't you know how exhausting all those plane rides are? To North Carolina, to Alaska, to Florida, multiple flights in AUSTRALIA for goodness sake! And all that WALKING in the airports, with people staring and taking pictures. Then there's all that time spent viewing animal after animal after animal and sometimes even RIDING the animals.

You've also forgotten about how hard she works to keep her appearance up so that she looks her best while she's on the interview couch giving her commentary about the children filming. As someone mentioned above, that skin doesn't tan itself! And as she has mentioned numerous times, she jogs 5 miles a day. Don't forget all the time spent on her flowing tresses!

She also has to keep so many people in line - directing the repairman where to place his tool box, making sure the children's father doesn't set foot in their home, letting Chris know when she'll be making her rounds of tanning/mani-pedi/package pick-up...

Quite frankly, I'm tired just thinking of all that hard work she's doing. I challenge you to admit the error of your ways and acknowledge Kate's unmatched efforts at keeping her family afloat.

I've given up hope that Kate will ever look back and regret kicking all those friends and relatives who were helpful to her to the curb. I think the majority of them were genuinely trying to make Kate and Jon's life easier, knowing that they had eight kids to raise. I'll bet none of them suspected at the time they were being used. I'm hoping this THS is an exploration of Kate's black hole. If it is it will be worth watching.

Don't forget that manual she is putting together. According to Kate it's not enough to know something has broken down, she wants to know why so that she can record the details and the date the repairman visited.

Maybe she's expecting that the kids' 15 percent, plus Jon's child support is going to take care of the education expenses. That's for NOW. What happens when filming stops and there IS no 15 percent and Jon is able to get a reduction on child support based on his current income?

I will disagree with you on one of your points, though. While there are very good private schools in the area that the children could attend, knowing this area well (and the school systems in adjacent counties), I truly believe that the public schools would not be able to deal with the security/media problems that they would face. This isn't LA or NYC school system that many children of celebrities attend. Public schools here have not had the experience of dealing with kids who are television "stars."

That is not to say that there aren't some excellent public schools. It's just that smaller, private schools, especially one that has dealt with security of the children of well-known parents, have handled such issues in the past. If I were in the same situation, I would not feel comfortable having my children in one of the public schools, especially when school shootings and violence have been in the news so much lately. Public schools do their best, but with the security and privacy of eight kids being an issue, I just don't think I would feel comfortable with them being in a public school.

It would not surprise me in the least, if her funding holds out, that these kids go to boarding school once TLC pulls the plug.

I still think it's doable. Steve could meet with administrator at whatever school they end up with, public or private. Allegedly this is what they did at their current school. What do they honestly expect to happen? I doubt most kids even care who they are. If they do, they get over it. There is no reason a public school child would be any more obsessed with these kids than a private school. Kids get over things fast, and so do parents. Just because you go to private school doesn't mean you are not interested in the family, and judging by the people who claim their kids go to this school, private doesn't mean you are any more protected by blabbing parents.

The name is misleading. Public schools are LIMITED public places. They have every right in the world to call the cops on Chris if he is being a nuisance. I have full faith that any good principal, public of private, is capable of calling the cops on Chris to protect a student.

And a public school bus might actually pick the kids up right at the door to their house, avoiding that photo op. It might actually be BETTER for privacy.

Everyone speculates about Kate's need to put the sextuplets in matching clothes. It’s easy:

They are not identical and are growing at different rates. They will never again look like the group they were as babies and toddlers. Don't get me wrong I think their current school is fabulous, my point is how can they sustain the expense until they are 18? They probably can't. Heck the sextuplets are going to be 19 or 20 by the time they graduate. We're talking way more than 10 years of this high tuition here. I think it's cruel to dangle this carrot for a few years only to have to pull them out when the shit hits the fan and the money train stops. Two of them are not even in that school anymore anyway, what exactly is the long-term plan for them, separate them out from the rest of them forever with homeschool?

It is going to be a rude awakening when Kate will have no choice but to make the kids row with the other slaves in public school, and she will have no one but herself to blame. As usual, the kids will suffer from her mistakes. Like it or not, public school is the real REALITY in these kids future no matter how well whatever public school will end up doing at protecting them. And in a few years when no one cares anymore, there will be nothing to protect from anyway.

The oh so wonderful private school cannot seem to find a way to avoid Chris at bus stops. They are not some kind of Fort Knox.

Ladies and gentleman the most hypocritical statement to have ever come out of Kate Gosselin's mouth:

She Works? I don't count pimping out your kids as work. The kids are working, Kate is pimping. You disagree. Move on.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

She Works, I agree that Kate makes money pimping out the kids. If your definition of a job is do some shit and make money then you are absolutely correct I admit it!

And yes there is a fundamental difference in what goes on on the Gosselin set--Kate's "job" is to make the kids work. The kids are not making anyone work or exploiting anyone, Kate IS, thus the fundamental difference.

It is Kate who says I'm working and the kids are playing on Larry King Live 8/23/09. So who is really the hypocrite here? How can Kate work and the kids play if they're all doing the same thing?

If you define a job as doing an activity for money, than there are a whole host of things that you would classify as work that I don't. I assign some morality to the definition of a job. You have never heard the expression that's not a "real job"? By your definition you believe everything is a real job and that is your right.

Prostitution, slave trader, insider trading, Kate Gosselin pimping out her kids, are all not JOBS in my opinion. Forcing a child to stand out in the hot sun and sell lemonade then stealing all his money is not work. That is what Kate does to these kids, metaphorically. Do you consider a parent forcing a child to work as working themselves by virtue of the fact that the benefit from the money rolling in? I don't.

Exploitation is exploitation and assigning the definition of work or a job to it implies something I am not willing to give it.

I obviously understand this concept that everyone on the set is physically working. But then we get back to the old, but I thought it was a reality show not work. Which is it?

So by your definition yes you win, Kate works.

So DWTS, her gigs on ET, etc. were volunteer jobs?
%%%%%%%%%
2 or 3 part-time, 1 month jobs does not a career make. OR a working mother. The family's ONLY source of income is promoting and pimping the children.

Even when Kate was interviewed on some morning show about Octomom (pinching Alexis' shoulder on national TV), she could not bring herself to be pleasant to the interviewer. She could have postioned herself as some kind of 'expert' with comments such as "My advice is to organize, or gather a support circle, or try to cuddle each child every day,,," or SOMETHING. Instead she tapped her foot and snarled some kind of annoyance.

Her only single offering and TV career path is that she gave birth twice. She could have postioned herself as an advice giver, but she is annoyed and angry at her family, her children, her staff, production people every single time she goes in front of a camera, and she cannot stop herself or seem to fake a different attitude. She does not ever come across as a friendly expert or even a compassionate interviewer.

The viewing public has been left with the impression that she has always been an angry, demanding, unkind person, because she has never shown a different demeanor to the TV viewer. That is why a career in TV will not work for her, outside of controversial reality shows that can focus on her unpleasant demeanor. But in the meantime she has chosen to make a name for herself, and a living, by performing as an overdressed, unkind person who now focuses her public rage on the only people that cannot escape her - her small children.

Kate has obviously not made enough money to sustain the family on one little gig on DWTS and ET. If she did why doesn't she quit and let the kids have a normal life?

Kate has never supported this family, she makes all of them, Jon included, support her. It's sick.

Short, I couldn't agree more, Eric Roberts has no credibility. Frankly I'm a little annoyed about his involvement with THS. There are so many other reputable people they could use to tell this story. If you want to say she's a child abuser why not bring in that PHd from Harvard who spoke out about this last year? Mixing someone like him in when you're trying to explain why Kate is a famewhore child exploiter diminishes credibility.

I've got the next great money making scheme for Kate. She could do the show WIPEOUT! It would be perfect. It is on ABC, who seem to still support her, (R&K, TODAY, DWTS), She could make some quick cash in an afternoon, and she could show off that superior body that she is always talking about, afterall, she is in the best shape of her life. Heck, she could do it in a bikini! Wouldn't you just love to see her negotiating that course and getting smacked, slapped, bounced all over the place?! She'd be doing it all for the sake of the kids of course...she'll do anything for the kids.

+++++++++++

First let me say that "Public" does not mean anything other than public funding. Most "public " schools aren't at all like the "public" school system we hear about in NY city. Many families have switched to "public" schools because they have more to offer than many of the "private" schools. You can't get past the front hall in all of the public schools where I live. Many have a police officer hired by the districts for added security. "Public" does also not mean poor and is just a stereotype that I would have thought we were all beyond. Evidently not.
Eight more kids in a school is just that ....eight more kids. They don't each walk around with a bodyguard the way their mother does. They are just 8 more kids getting an education and most likely wishing that folks like you would stop pointing out that they have a mother in the local news. I'd say celebrity ...but Kate doesn't quite qualify for the title.

Kate - driven, determined, focused, organized, has learned to laugh at herself.

Why does anyone suddenly feel the need to find nice things to say about Kate?

How many good qualities does it take to cancel out a bad one? Should we use a point system?

Physically harming children= -10
Ignoring children's needs= -8
Saying nasty things about your children= -5
Trashing other parent= -7

Having nice teeth= +1
Nice shoes= +1
Organization skills= +3
Ability to hire good nannies= +2

How are we doing? Anyone else want to play along with this fun game?

It's total BS that ANYONE would would feel the need to find the good qualities in a selfish child abuser.

Should we also start listing Michael Lohan's fabulous traits? Is that 'fair and balanced'?

Sadiemey said, "Eight more kids in a school is just that ....eight more kids."

------------------------

I'm not sure I understand this. My comment was the size of classes and student/teacher ratio. A ratio of 8:1 as compared to 40:1 is a heck of a big difference when it comes to the amount of attention a teacher is able to give to each student. It's clear that the Gosselins need this type of small-class atmosphere and individual attention. Adding eight more kids to a school system's overall enrollment is a mere drop in the bucket, but in a particular class it would decrease the student/teacher ratio.

"Public" does also not mean poor and is just a stereotype that I would have thought we were all beyond. Evidently not."

-----------------------------

I don't think that anyone said this, nor even implied it. We're not talking about inner-city schools. Some of our public school systems are academically excellent and attended by the kids of parents from various professions -- attorney, physicians, financial consultants. Graduates are admitted to four-year colleges and universities, some of which are Ivy League.

"You can't get past the front hall in all of the public schools where I live. Many have a police officer hired by the districts for added security."

--------------------------

Unfortunately, that's not true here. Perhaps in the city, it is, but not where the kids would be going. That said, I think the concern was as to the amount of privacy the kids would have. Paps would be able to photograph them getting off the bus, at their soccer games, in school plays, etc. In large crowds such as found at public school events, photographers could easily be disguised. It's not so easy gaining access to a private school festival held indoors as it would be to go to a gymnastics event held in the field house of a large public school.

"The twins are probably on different hours since they go to school full time and kindergarten usually 1/2 day, at least it is around here. That may be the reason you dont see them."

---------------------

The twins are on the identical school schedule. They start at the same time, finish at the same time and ride the same bus to and from school).

Re: The E! special. Someone on another blog reported that EVERYONE who comes into contact with Kate must sign a CA. If so many people are speaking out for this show, then we know how invalid this statement was. Obviously there are people out there who did not sign anything and are willing to talk.

Admin,

Child support does exactly what it sounds like: it is money given from the non-custodial parent to the custodial parent to assist in their raising of the children. Because you said you believe Jon's child support payments are supporting Kate, I must direct you to the pertinent Black's Law Dictionary section, which states: "Child support should not be confused with alimony (spousal support) which is for the ex-spouse's support."

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

SMB, I know the difference between support and alimony. I used to do divorce law and I actually own a copy of Black's Law Dictionary.

However these kids are Kate's responsibility too are they not? I stand by my original comment that she lives off everyone's else's money. If Jon wasn't helping her with the kids at 12k a month she would have to come up with that money herself, would she not? Hence, milking Jon for every last dime so she doesn't have to actually go out there and get a real job to support the kids is living off Jon. There is also no denying that Kate directly benefits from giving her kids a posh lifestyle with that outrageous support.

There are also serious questions how she is spending all this money, as Jon has asked for an accounting in the past and she has even been spotted with expense spreadsheets.

Do I believe she spends every last dime on the kids? Not really. Does what she does spend on them benefit her, you bet.

School Days said...

There are many misconceptions about both public and private schools. Public schools may or may not have larger class sizes than private schools. Title One (high poverty) public schools receive additional federal funding to help students meet academic standards, and this includes lower class sizes for the primary grades. These schools typically hire Reading Specialists, who are specially trained and credentialled to teach reading. In my state, you must be certified to be a Reading Specialist.

As a teacher myself, I believe that the Gosselin children should stay at their current school if possible, as the student/teacher ratio is very low, and this is a benefit to all children. If they need extra academic support, they probably receive it. We all know that their school is very expensive, so who knows if Kate can continue to afford it without the gravy train continuing...I hate to see those kids working for their tuition. It is terrible, IMO.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Thank you, Disgusted. That comment baffled me too when I heard about it. There was a giant sign outside the bookstore INVITING people in. You didn't even have to buy her book, they would let you see Kate without it, but I even bought the book. I did not do anything but take a pic of Tony who was thrilled to do it, chat with him about a mutual friend, and got INVITED up to talk to Kate--I asked her a question, "So what about the new child labor laws in PA will that affect filming?" and apparently that was too much for her and ratclaws pulled me away and I left VOLUNTARILY. Done.

I would never in my life go uninvited to someplace Kate was, nor would I ever in my life go to anywhere I knew any celeb to be just to find them. To each his own, but I find that creepy. If you just happen to be there that is one thing, I've seen a lot of celebs in places I was going to anyway like sports games and groceries, but actually going there knowing a certain person will be there is quite another.

Another huge difference? The KIDS were not at that booksgining. I would never, EVER ask Kate that question in the children's presence.

Basically the sheeple don't want us to even be allowed to breathe around their queen.

"Public schools may or may not have larger class sizes than private schools"

----------------------------

In this area, public schools have much larger class sizes than private schools. For example, there were 550 students in the graduating class at an excellent public high school here (650 in tenth grade) as compared to an average of 30 students in the senior class where the kids attend.

"As a teacher myself, I believe that the Gosselin children should stay at their current school if possible, as the student/teacher ratio is very low, and this is a benefit to all children."

----------------------

I agree. Isn't it a shame, though, that they have to work to pay for their own education? It's a Catch-22. Filming needs to stop; however, when TLC pulls the plug and they no longer can pay their own tuition, they may have to be uprooted and go to a much less expensive private school or a public school. They're damned if do and damned if they don't.

I don't know about any of you, but it's so darn cold here that there's not much to do except stay inside and get caught up on reading the blogs! I'd like to see Miss Katie outside today dressed only in a sweater and jeans!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Actually no I don't wish for as much money as possible for the kids no matter if Kate benefits. Wanting as much money as possible is why these poor kids are still being forced to work. Money has not bought these children one bit of happiness or really anything. It bought them a school that two kids are expelled from at that they are pulled out from to work anyway. It bought them a house their mother never wants to actually live in. It bought their mother the best attorney around so she could really give it to their father in a divorce. It has done nothing. All it has done is made their mother greedier and the kids' situation worse.

What I do wish for them? I wish for them to be financially secure, big difference. I do not wish an endless flow of money on them, I do not see how that has helped them whatsoever.

The fundamental flaw here is that there are still people out there who think money can buy all the things the kids really need.

Sadiemey said...

I totally agree with Administrator on the money issue and the kids. I get so tired of hearing the Kate supporters say that these "experiences" "opportunities" are so valuable to the children. What kids this age want most is love from their parent and stability which is the complete opposite of what I see them getting from Kate. Money doesn't buy happiness, security, or love.

Pure coincidence AOL has an article up about the debate about pulling kids out of school. Lots of good comments.

In particular really good comment from a couple teachers who does not agree with encouraging parents to take kids out of school to get "cheap vacation rates" and you can just make the work up!

The best point made is that not only is it extra work for the teacher BUT the distruption is unfair to the other students.

http://news.travel.aol.com/2011/01/18/reasons-to-miss-school-for-a-kids-vacation/?icid=maing%7Caim%7Cdl6%7Csec1_lnk2%7C38310

"1.22.2011 @ 8:25PM by Katie
I am a teacher, and although the author is well meaning, a cheap deal is NOT the best reason to take a child out of school for a vacation. This kind of article is irresponsible. As a teacher, I have experienced parents who DON'T worry about whether their child makes up the work. And even if the child gets the assignments, there is no substitute for the experience in the classroom. I don't do lectures - I have dynamic lessons that cannot be made up by reading a book. Except for once in a lifetime experiences, children should not be taken out of school. I currently have one of my gifted students who is still lost with my class because of an impromptu trip taken by the parents - and i had a special tutoring session to try to catch her up! I do teach upper level middle and high school. Plus there are so many high stakes test that missing anytime of the year may hurt the child acadmeically"

AND

"1.22.2011 @ 8:28PM by Catherine
Make sure you're not one of the parents calling for more teacher accountability if you decide to take your child out of school. Also, most parents blithely request all the homework that will be due during the 1-2 weeks their child is on vacation, not realizing what a tremendous amount of work that adds to a teacher's load. Then, when almost none is completed or turned in, you cannot imagine how frustrating that is to teachers. Projecting assignment details 2 weeks out precludes teachers from taking advantage of teachable moments that always arise during a course of study, which, in effect, compromises instruction for all the other students whose parents sent them to school instead of vacation.

Now, compound all that with 2 or 3 students out at a time, all year long, not to mention the 40% migrant population in about a third of states across the nation, and maybe you can begin to see what a logistical and administrative nightmare it becomes for a teacher in a class of 40 elementary students or in multiple classes of 40 secondary students.

I was a national board certified master teacher. After 15 years of this secretarial-type work, where I spent less time planning and teaching for which I was highly trained, and more time making these special arrangements for absent children, writing out detailed instructions, making copies of necessary items, gathering all the materials required for assignments, then grading the sketchy few that returned and trying to reteach what parents obviously didn't take the time to do WITH their vacationing kids, I begged for a full-time secretary instead of a raise. And, of course, that never happened.

So, sure, give your kids these wonderful experiences. Just take responsibility for them, and do whatever you can to reduce the impact for poor, overworked, unappreciated teachers. If I were a principal, I would have the policy that teachers are in the classroom to teach, and if a family wants to go on vacation, fine, but they do so at their child's own peril, with no chance of make-up work of any kind (including tests, papers, or projects), so teachers, who are there, prepared to do their job may continue to do their job, without all these unfruitbul distractions."

When I was in High School--okay, I'm dating myself here, but, 3 years ago the policy where I live is, that you are only alotted 3 SICK DAYS or 3 days you are allowed to miss, if you miss anymore than that you have to pay $3.00 to go to Saturday School at stay to read or do homework for three hours whilst a teacher took time to be there, sort of like detention on the weekend. You could only get out of not going to Saturday school if you have a doctor's note (as I had to do when I had my wisdom teeth taken out, when I hate ear surgery and when I had kidney infection). The policy that if you were taken out of school for vacation meant that YOU (the student) had to get the work, do it, turn it in and take a half grade on everything. Exceptions to this rule was if family member died and you went out of state for their funeral or something special like that.

I don't know what the school codes are for Penn. where Gosselins live but I just wonder how Kate could possibly have swong that and not realize her kids are going to suffer falling behind and various other issues. This trip, gee it couldn't wait until summer? Oh no! I guess that would be depriving Kate's kids of 'life experiences,' she seems to want them to have...but somebody please, tell me, isn't just going to school, a, 'ife experience?'

"It's not so easy gaining access to a private school festival held indoors as it would be to go to a gymnastics event held in the field house of a large public school."

***********************

Sorry, I couldn't determine where this snippet originated from, so I can't assign a name to it. I just don't get the point here. Do they CARD people at events held at the Gosselin's school? And what about OUTDOOR events? Do people have to wear wrist bracelets to prove that they belong there? I'm starting to see that people who only have experience with private schools really have no idea what the public school experience is like. More than that, they seem to think that there is a GREAT disparity between the two types of schools. In an inner city environment, perhaps, although even then I'm not so sure. BUT, in the suburbs of PA, access to attendance at school events, as well as many academic issues ... there are more similarities than difference when it comes to private vs. public. When it comes to the Gosselins, we're not talking about them having to choose between inner-city public schools versus a posh private school. The public schools they have access to are in the VERY safe counties of rural PA (nowhere close to Philadelphia or any real city -- at least 45 minutes or more from Philly as the nearest big city).

The other erroneous argument is that the paps would have ready access to a large, public school. There are MANY *real* celebrities whose kids attend public schools (in LA, NY, etc), and there has NEVER been a single [unauthorized] pap photo of the kids at any school event (Pam Anderson comes to mind as one whose kids attend public school, although there are others). Public schools are equally adept as private schools at protecting "famous" kids from the public. I went to high school -- a PUBLIC high school -- with a child actor who was one of the stars of "Goonies" -- and there was never a single paparazzo on our campus -- ever (and we were about as geographically as far from LA as the Gosselins are, to give some perspective). The Gosselin kids don't need a private school to provide privacy. Kate needs the private school to stroke her insatiable ego. Period.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Confused, if you can't see the difference between showing up at a designated celebrity event in which it is an appearance and encourages the public to have a meet and greet, and someone taking their child to a corn maze, or grocery shopping, or anything else you do in your private life and someone shows up there with the express intent to snoop on you, I don't know what to tell you. No one has the authority to invite you to show up and snoop when a celeb is trying to do something with their kids, except the celeb themselves. If someone happened to stumble upon them, that is one thing. Most of the eye witness reports of the kids are not from people tracking them down. But in this case, there is something not right about the way they were sought out. I do not approve of seeking the kids out in their private lives, period. I never have and never will. Other people have different opinions on whether this is okay and that's their right. I have no need to go to some other blog and troll there about how much I disagree. Collin covering his eyes alone should be enough to tell anyone that these kids want to be left alone by people invading their space.

And by the way, I did ask too. I called Barnes and Noble ahead of time too, and asked if there was a press pass option for bloggers. I believe I mentioned this in comments if you look. They said no they weren't going to do press passes because Kate was not going to do official interviews with the press but that I was welcome to come anyway. So I was invited both by Barnes and Noble and the huge sign declaring the public should come on in. Was I supposed to personally call Kate too and ask? Last I knew it never said, "and you need to ask to come in", on the sign.

Kate is a big girl and knows full well when you invite people to a BOOK SIGNING you invite people who have read the book whether they liked it or not. She can handle it. If the kids were there? We are talking a WHOLE OTHER STORY and I would not have put their mother on the spot like that with them there, period.

If Kate set up shop at the corn maze for a book signing, well then that I don't have a problem with.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

And by the way this is absolutely nothing like looking at a movie set you happen to pass by. Those people are there playing a character. They are not with their KIDS doing something in their PRIVATE LIFE. Kate's conversation with Collin about his improved behavior was no script, that was a real mom having a real private conversation with her son.

I don't understand that comparison at all.

They are not with their KIDS doing something in their PRIVATE LIFE. Kate's conversation with Collin about his improved behavior was no script, that was a real mom having a real private conversation with her son.

I'm confused here myself. It may have been a 'private' conversation w/her son, but unfortunately, it was televised for anyone who wanted to 'listen in'.

Not such a good idea. That's winter in Australia, and we saw in Alaska that she's miserable outside in cold weather (except in Reading when it's 25 degree and she's not wearing a jacket).

Spring break would have been a perfect time to go. Nice weather, long enough time to do what they needed to do without taking the kids out of school.

It is Kate's choice to reveal that conversation to the public. It is not someone's place to snoop on it independently of that. In other words, Kate can exploit the kids but doesn't make it right for others to.

The reports that I heard and read has listed the child support as $22,000 per month. I believe Jon's lawyer at the time of the Nancy Grace show also reported this figure during the show.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

$22,000?? Gosh I way lowballed my recollection of that.

No wonder Kate is screwing around in Target all the time, that's a heck of a lot of child support to burn through each month. Add that to all the "work" she does!

@Julianna,

You're right summer here is winter there, yes. Terribly sorry for my mistake. It seems though that Kate has no real problem not being prepared for winter anyway, whatnot with her open toed shoes and no jacket I mean really, is Alaska that big of a difference? I didn't see any snow in SP Alaska--correct me if I'm wrong somebody but since when do bugs like to be out in the cold and damp?

Alright, I give up. I guess it doesn't matter where you stick Kate--she isn't going to be happy unless its a warm, private resort, hotel, lodge place. I don't know how cold Australia gets but it gets plenty cold then.

There are MANY *real* celebrities whose kids attend public schools (in LA, NY, etc), and there has NEVER been a single [unauthorized] pap photo of the kids at any school event (Pam Anderson comes to mind as one whose kids attend public school, although there are others).

8888888888888888888888888888

How in the world could you possibly know that there was never a single unauthorized photo taken of any celebrity's child in school? In this case the attention is focused ON THE GOSSELIN CHILDREN. They are the subjects of tabloid frenzy right now. Don't think for a minute if a member of the press found out that he could get a few shots of the kids playing soccer at school that he wouldn't use that opportunity to do so. The Gosselin kids are hot topics right now. Photos mean money.

Forget privacy. What they do need are small classes with a low student-teacher ratio. They are having behavorial problems now, and possibly academic ones as well. They were redshirted last year. I don't think in a class of 35-40 students that they would get the individual attention they need during this very important time in their formative years.

Kate quite possibly has these kids in private school to stroke her ego. No argument there. We've seen that education isn't a priority for her. It doesn't matter why she put them there. The fact is that they are there now, and to take them out of that familiar environment (especially with everything else going on right now) would not be a good idea. Forget Kate and her motives. Think about the kids.

"I'm starting to see that people who only have experience with private schools really have no idea what the public school experience is like."

888888888888888888888888888

That's not true in my case. I've had experience in both, having taught in a public school for many years, and as the parent of children attending both public and private schools.

I am sick and tired of the sheeple who keep saying (well repeating after Kate) that the couple got six more kids by accident, when they actually wanted just one more. How poor Jon and Kate did not choose to have sextuplets, the eggs split and they "ended up with six"(recognize the quote?)I am pre-med, which means next year I will be in medical school, which means I have medical knowledge the sheeple obviously do not have.Let me explain:

Dear sheeple, IVF(that is in vitro fertilization) is a procedure in which embryos are implanted in the womb of the future mother. To make sure the implant takes, 4-6 eggs are implanted(unless we're talking about octomom's doctor, in which case 8-9 embryos are implanted). Yes, some of those embryos may split. When that happens, the two resulted eggs will develop into IDENTICAL TWINS. If the eggs don't split, all the babies will be FRATERNAL(each of them developed from a DIFFERENT embryo)

Now, the Gosselin Sextuplets are all fraternal, which means there are no two developed from a split embryo, which means Kate had AT LEAST 6 embryos implanted(she was originally pregnant with septuplets, and yes, the embryo who vanished was the identical twin of one of the living tups). She was told sometime in November(when she was 2 months pregnant) that she was carrying sextuplets. The doctor advised(like any sane doctor would) selective reduction-that means that some of the embryos are reduced. The couple was "STRONGLY AGAINST".

In conclusion, the Gosselins CHOSE to have sextuplets, fully aware of the risk, and certainly aware(unless they were morons) of how hard raising 6 kids would be.They were also very irresponsible since when Kate got pregnant with the tups, they already had two daghters, two toddlers who needed and deserved their attention at such a young and critical age in development and Jon had no job, which meant they could BARELY raise the already existing children. So yeah, the "poor" Gosselins brought this on themselves.

And finally, to answer the all time favorite sheeple question, I find it okay to criticize them for what they have been doing to their children from day one because they put themselves on national television for me and everyone to judge and I have therefore been watching them ruin those poor kids' lives for 4 and 1/2 years now.

Roxanne, from all I have heard and read, they did not have IVF, they had IUI. That said, some of the same principles apply. An ultrasound would have shown how many follicles were likely to produce an egg that cycle, and if they were hyperstimulated, she should have been warned that high-order multiples were a possibility. She claims that her ultrasound that cycle was no different than the one where she conceived the twins. Now don't get me wrong, I am no Kate defender. Quite the opposite. But really, who knows what truly happened other than Kate, Jon and their physician?

Unknown said...

"The doctor advised(like any sane doctor would) selective reduction-that means that some of the embryos are reduced. The couple was "STRONGLY AGAINST"."

That part of it was supposedly because of their religious beliefs. They gladly accepted the church going community's charity, which was based on the idea that Jon and Kate were thoroughly pro-life Christians who now had sextuplets because of their strong conviction to their religious beliefs.

It's become clear that those beliefs and their church going were just a matter of convenience and something they did because it was expected of them by their family and community. Both Jon and Kate have proven that neither have ever been truly devoted to religious faith. If their intentions had been pure I would respect the decision they made in not reducing, but their intentions were always selfish and they only wanted to use and take advantage of others kindness. They were a match made in hell those two.

Mind you, I'm saying this as a pro-choice agnostic. I respect religious people who are honest and true about their faith. Jon and Kate haven't earned that respect.

Roxanne, I loved your post. Just one thing though... Kate did not undergo IVF. She took injections to make her ovulate. One month she ovulated too much and her doctor advised her to sit out that cycle due to overstimulation of the ovaries. Kate went straight home and had Jon fertilize the eggs the old fashioned way. At the time he was not in on her scheme and she said during one of their couch interviews "You're not still mad at me, are you, Honey?" She most definately wanted multiples.

As much as I personally like the idea that the G8 are attending, most of them, a wonderful private school, public schools offer more services for struggling kids. Joel is in desperate need of speech therapy. If some kids need to be pulled out of regular class, there are trained special ed teachers in public schools. Private schools do NOT have to follow any special needs curriculum such as a 504 or IEP plan. If your kids needs extras in private, it is only IF the school is willing to provide it. My child has attended both private and public. She was diagnosed with ADHD. The private Catholic school would do nothing for her. However, her public middle school laid out her rights and she excelled and teachers were accutely aware that their were Federal laws in place and by golly they served my child well. There are both good private and public schools. And as far as security, in a small town, you couldn't roam the halls without signing in, a pass around your neck and hall monitors everywhere. And, I always asked that my child test in a private room, and be given time to get up and take a break. Kid did great!!!

How Kate got pregnant said...

Kate did not do IVF. There were no eggs transferred.

Kate used Clomid and IntrauUterine Insemination (IUI - they inject semen into the uterus) with both pregnancies. When she went to get pregnant with the sextuplets, her ovaries became overstimulated - which is a dangerous condition for the mother.

If you still believe that Kate Gosselin used IVF to get pregnant, check her book "Multiple Blessings" and State of Pennsylvania Press releases from the time of the sextuplets birth as well as any other article about the birth of the Gosselin sextuplets. See an excerpt from Multiple Blessings on Oprah.com which details the Gosselins experience with fertility treatments under related links.

She was hospitalized with overstimulated ovaries which means she has too many eggs, she wasn't pregnant yet. This is one of K8's earliest and biggest lies, IMO. Any reputable fertility specialist would have ordered K8 to skip the cycle, as HMO's are not a desirable outcome .

This has been discussed many times here and elsewhere. Her entire fertility story is suspect.

If Kate keeps on telling her kids they aren't working, when the hell will they know when they ARE really working in "real life"? When they have to go to "real jobs"? I started working at 14, I needed a permit, I was working. These kids will not know what the heck hit them when they want to get a real job at the mall, or whatever, & be real kids. Will Kate allow that, or will they be gawked at? These kids won't know what hit them in (again), the "real world". Taxes, FICA, all that good stuff. Kate isn't teaching anything about finances, saving, is she? She spends as fast she gets, as far as we see. What is THAT teaching her kids??

Reminds me of MY parents. They didn't teach me squat about saving money. I was really bad until I met my now husband, who taught me about saving, paying bills...that was after I got my car repossessed. But my ex HAD stolen my money. LONG story. Anyways, Kate is doing nothing to show those kids responsibility about money, IMO.

&&&&&&&&&&&&

Oh dear Roxanne, your explanation of how identical vs fraternal twins come to be was very thoughtful and some might find it enlightening, but it was quite unnecessary since the Gosselin children were all born with the help of IUI, which as you must know is "Intra-uterine Insemination".

There were no embryos implanted in Kate. Not a one. Kate took hormones to stimulate her ovaries to produce more eggs, which they did, and they were inseminated the good old fashioned way. Kate said there was a 7th fetus that was spontaneously aborted early in the pregnancy so therefore it is unknown whether it was identical or not.

You did get one thing right - the other children are fraternal.

I'm sorry if there is a snarky tone to this, but the comment about your education just didn't sit right with me, nor did the way you felt you needed to explain the different procedures. A pre-med student does not a Gosselin expert make. Nor does it make one any better than all of the other wonderful, educated, and informed people who blog here. While you may be excited about your upcoming career, I strongly caution you to remain humble and think about those who just may know more about the subject than you.

Isn't it true that doctors doing IVF don't even implant more than three or four embroys at a time these days? Hence the decline in high order multiples over the past few years.

I thought Octomom's doctor had violated AMA regulations or something. He was investigated.

So the only way you're going to get 6 or more babies these days is a doctor willing to break regulations during IVF, or disregarding a doctor's advice during IUI, right? In other words, HOM in theory SHOULDN'T HAPPEN ANYMORE.

K8SUCKS said...

Sorry, didn't read all of the posts before my last comment.

Roxanne, as others have corrected, K8 underwent IUI ( see my earlier comment).

But... regarding your info on IVF, fertility doctors will not necessarily implant 4-6 embryos. It depends on the physical history of the woman, how many eggs fertilize, and how many of those fertilized eggs are "good". My little kindergartner is our miracle baby - conceived after 3 years of drugs, shots, IUI and IVF.

And yes, K8 ABSOLUTELY planned on having HOM's to market, no question.

I thought she used IVF, but even if she didn't the only thing which doesn't apply here is the IVF part of my explanation.I stand by every thing else I said above, because it is still very true.
This part is slightly different:Kate used Clomid and IUI and became pregnant with septuplets. She lost one of the embryos( a phenomenon known as "vanishing twin" syndrome) embryo which, if it had developed it would have been identical to one of the tups, and got left with 6 which she CHOSE to deliver them all.

The only problem with IVF is that there are no regulations on the number of embryos that can be implanted. There are "guidelines" but that's it and Nadya's doctor definitely exceeded them. Her doctor technically/legally did nothing wrong - he violated no "regulations" since there are none. Right after the octuplets were born there was talk of the need for regulations, but I haven't heard of any being put in place.

Admin said ... So the only way you're going to get 6 or more babies these days is a doctor willing to break regulations during IVF, or disregarding a doctor's advice during IUI, right? In other words, HOM in theory SHOULDN'T HAPPEN ANYMORE
* * *

True. It would only happen if more follicles were actually ready to ovulate than appeared to be so from ultrasound, or if more than one embryo split after fertilization. Both very rare occurrences, but I suppose possible.

And Carol:

She didn't go home and get inseminated "the old fashioned way." IUI means sperm from the father, usually "washed" first, is injected directly into the uterus or very high in the cervix by the doctor. I know because the first of my three beautiful sons was conceived this way.

Lorrie said...

Roxanne, Kate underwent IUI, not IVF. Big difference.

No embryos were implanted. According to Kate, after the ultrasound was performed, the doctor could see 3 or 4 follicles, and declared it "a great cycle". If indeed that is true, 3 or 4 follicles WOULD be seen as ideal for IUI.

However, what I have a hard time believing is that the other follicles mysteriously were not found via the ultrasound. How does an experienced doctor somehow miss 2-4 extra follicles?

Roxanne said...

Oh dear sheeple Carol, don't be so happy so soon. With every insemination procedure, everything I said above applies :D
You're all(the sheeple) clinging to the fact that I got the method wrong but IUI has THE EXACT SAME EFFECT as IVF honey, it's just a different procedure, but the result is the same. You implant an unusual number of embryos or you stimulate the ovaries to produce an unusual number of eggs. The result is the same: Multiples.
It's funny how you guys focus on the first paragraph and ignore the rest of them.Is it because you have no arguments for the other paragraphs?

And Admin: Yes, the doctor was punished for what he did and yes there is a protocol that needs to be followed,I was being ironic when referring to the octomom situation.

Carol said...

Roxanne,
Wikipedia, as you said, can be written by anybody so why would you find that more credible than Kate's own book, "Multiple Blessings"? SHE is the one who told the story about the tup's conception, not someone doing research on the internet.

I don't think anyone disputed the premise of your original statement and in fact most here probably agree that J&K are responsible for their family size for whatever reason, but I hope you can see how your credibility was damaged before you even began by not knowing the correct method Kate used for her supposed infertility problem and saying you knew more than us because of your education. As I said before, humility is a good trait to have.

Roxanne - from what I read, Carol is not a sheeple, and was , IMO, spot on in her comments.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors but , really, pre-med does not an expert on everything medical make, especially when the subject at hand is so specialized and several of us here have first-hand knowledge of what fertility treatments involve.

This was my statement:"medical knowledge the sheeple obviously do not have".

Yes, humility is a good trait and if I had no knowledge in the matter I would have kept quiet. But the truth is I do posses certain knowledge and by simply stating the fact, I do not consider I was arrogant.

Why do I find wikipedia more credible then Kate Gosselin? Because Kate talks about how Collin loves to film and collin has recently been expelled and hides his face when he's in public. Because Kate stated loud and clear that they used time out, yet pictures of her spanking her daughter were all over the internet. That's why I do not find Kate credible.

Pointing out the correct type of infertility treatments Kate used does not make me a sheeple - rather it makes me someone who thinks that when one talks about this subject they should know the facts before presuming to school someone else on it.

When dealing with the sheeple it's even more important to be credible, use FACTS, and beat them at their game. When us "haterz" don't know what we're talking about we might as well not even try. It's important to not perpetuate gossip and rumors.

Roxanne, I didn't stop reading, nor ignore the latter part of your comment, and fully intended to compliment you on the rest of it, but I was interrupted and am just now getting back to the blog.

I agree with everything else you said and in fact I couldn't have said it better myself. I'll repeat it here because I feel it's important to repeat that Jon&Kate made the choice to have a large family and they made choice to exploit them and until Kate decides they deserve privacy I'll keep blogging to try to get them away from the cameras.

I completely agree. Not to mention that the Gosselin parents completely opened up their family to this kind of attention by putting their lives out in the public eye, and abusing their children so irrefutably that huge numbers of strangers care more about the children's welfare than the parents seem to.

It's not surprising if someone went to see for herself what filming looked like. The amazing (and fortunate) thing in this case is that the "someone" was so respectful of the children, and showed only identifiable adults in her verification shots.

"Stalking"? Well, sure, in the broad sense, and that's just one more reason these children deserve a private life. A responsible reporter today, a rabid fan tomorrow.

But it's all good, isn't it, Kate? Anything to keep the tan going and the spotlight shining. The kids' lives are only collateral damage. No biggie.

Dead on. If I remember correctly, that quote above, where Kate said to Jon "You're not mad at me, honey, are you?" didn't come from a couch interview, but from the time when they were told that so many fertilizations had "succeeded".

That implied to me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, that Kate probably went home from the doctor's office after having been told to skip the cycle, and "forgot" to tell Jon that they weren't supposed to engage in activities that could lead to fertilization.

I think she both ignored the doctor and misled her husband. Her question ("You're not mad at me, are you?") makes it very clear that he probably had a very, very good reason to be angry, and she knew it.

She didn't ask if he was mad at the doctor. She didn't ask if he was mad because so many eggs were fertilized. She didn't ask if he was upset in general. She asked if he was mad at HER.

She's a first class liar, beginning to end. It got her where she is today.

First- she said she had PCOS and yet she doesn't have any of the physical symptoms of someone with that problem.

Second- she was only in her 20's and had been married a couple MONTHS when she get her first fertility treatment. Why didn't she try for longer before she took that route? Did she WANT multiples?

Third- they were living in a duplex with twin baby girls. They didn't even own a home but they decided they needed more children? Right then?

Kate was actually hospitalized for hyperstimulated ovaries. Jon KNEW that was the case. There was not "trick" played. I think Kate worried that Jon was mad because she had been the one pushing for more kids all along.
