Happy 10 years to Realitytvkids.com

This month marks ten years since the first full month this blog was in business. I started the blog to be a one-stop resource to chronicle the barrage of news coming out at the time about the Gosselin divorce, and to discuss the implications of that very public split on the children as well as the filming during that time. It grew into a daily gathering of ladies and even a few gentlemen who became a community, a household even, as we gathered around what came to be known as "the porch."

There have been some wild rides over that ten years. From Aunt Jodi testifying about child labor laws in the Pennsylvania House, to my hilarious, and live-on-the-blog, encounter with Kate at her book signing in Santa Monica, where I damn near got assaulted by Steve the boobyguard....to enough lawsuits to build a small town with. We watched a little boy banished to the lowest of lows, and watched Jon lose, then gain back two of his children, including that lost little boy. There have been births, both human and furry, marriages, and at times, deaths. There have been people who suddenly departed we still worry about. There have been people who have been here since the beginning, and those that came later we welcomed.

Special thanks to the blog girls and pool boys. You know who you are, and how much time this blog takes up and the stress it sometimes causes. Your dedication has made it possible for me to have much more time for my own life, career and family, allowing me to feel fulfilled and flourishing both on the interwebs and in real life.

Now that the children are nearing adulthood and the opportunities to exploit them appear to be dwindling at last, you may be wondering where that leaves this blog. Well, we'll stay up and running as long as you want to hang out here. And if there ever comes a time that we feel it's best to lock up the screen doors and move on from our little porch, know how special this place has been to me over the past ten years, how grateful I am that you wanted to hang out here whether it was for a short time or a long time, and how appreciative I am of the incredible discussion, both intellectually stimulating and side-splitting, that has gone on here over the years.

1,123 posts. roughly 700,000 comments (a big guess based on average comments on each post--too many to count!), and hundreds of people who stopped by here over the years. Thank you to all!

Wow, it's been that long! I think I joined in 2010 or so as Once a Viewer. We have had many lively discussions and OT topics and all posters were brought together for caring about these 8 kids. Thanks to Admin, 'helpers,' and posters.

Many thanks to Admin and her "helpers" for providing a place where we can read and learn from the many people who remain concerned for the welfare of the Gosselin children. Admin's insight as a professional advocate for children is much appreciated.

My family, my grandparents all were from Wyomissing (where Jon lives I believe)and so having grown up there, I was drawn in to this show originally. I thought it was just a cute reality show about multiples. But relatively quickly I saw that Kate was obsessed with filming and it became clear to me that she would do ANYTHING to keep filming. When Jon said he didn't want to film anymore, I knew she would divorce him rather than stop the show. I was so happy to find this blog filled with intelligent, caring people who saw what I saw. It has been a pleasure here on the veranda and I am grateful to Admin for giving us this space to vent, to express ourselves and to hope together for freedom and love for these children.

Admin, thank you.

I think I have been here for 9 of those 10 years. I would not have guessed the time correctly.

Our special veranda has been a cozy and stimulating place to visit.

I have made friends here. Thank you to everyone.

Admin, holy guacamole, has it been a decade? That is a pretty amazing stat! I have to admit I was worried you were breaking up with us. "I'm closing up shop guys, but, honestly, it's not you, it's me." Super glad I was wrong!

It has been a privilege to be here for 10 years, all at the amazingly affordable annual fee of zero dollars. This is a fine community, and I'm sure I speak for many when I express my gratitude for the time and attention and heart invested by Admin, the pool girls and the cabana boys. A virtual rumspringa toast to all of you. And a special shout out to GollyGee, who I hope has found a way to read here from heaven.

And I don't know about any of the rest of you, but I sure didn't get farklempt when I saw that veranda picture. Nope, not me. Not at all.

Beautifully said, Admin! I was trying to remember when I first discovered your blog. It might have been late 2009. I remember when Jon put up the sign on the property that they could no longer film the children and we thought that this was finally the beginning of the end. Little did we know the wrath of Kate would never let that happen!

I don't comment as often as some of you but I always enjoy coming here and reading.

I don't know if I should admit it here but I was actually the one who wrote that comment to Collin yesterday about him being able to enjoy one side of his family and what Collin's response was. I can't stand Kate and I don't care if it bothered her if she read's her son's response.

Admin and staff, thank you for all you have done here to keep this blog going. I will be coming here as long as you have it up and running.

It has really been an adventure. I was glad to find people who could see Kate for what she was. When this blog started, Kate was a saint and Jon a bad guy. I'm glad things have changed.

This blog and all the sweet commenters kept me sane when TFW’s house for exploited children made me crazy. I hope ithe blog doesn’t stop completely. I wonder if Jon and Robert ever talk-but I’m sure Robert is very happy that Collin is with Jon. I know robert was concerned most about him. Thank you ladies for all the laughs. I spewed coffee on more than one occasion and missed Auntie and was glad she returned.

Ten years already?! An awesome milestone for a much-needed gathering place to share our complete and utter dismay, shock and disbelief over what one woman can do to her family to feed her hunger for fame.

Well Admin, you left a very moving message which was VERY heartfelt. I remember my first post way back when. Like the majority of you all, I fell in love with the Gosselins in the early days but then quickly did a 180 when I grew to dislike Kate's negative personality traits. |In 2014, I sought comfort here (and got it) when my marriage ended.
Over the years, I have always thought about what it would be like to meet all of you because of an authentic kinship the posters seem to share here. I was not a regular poster but I always watched from afar. It would be an honour to meet all of you in person sometime, someday, somewhere.

Whew! When I first saw this post I thought it was your swan song Admin!

I know there isn't much to talk about in the Gosselin world these days, but I still like to come here & see familiar names posting. I keep hoping a few who have disappeared without a trace will show up again one of these days...Tucker's Mom in particular. It was a happy day when we "found" Auntie again after too long away.

Thank you Admin & all your helpers!

I've been a steady reader for years but seldom post because I enjoy reading all the posts and there's little I could add. I'm glad the porch will stay available for those of us here and drop by and say hello, share our joys and console those who need support. Personally, I'd like to see how the kids manage high school and hope, much hope, that they will be able to reconcile with each other. TFMJG can just sit that one out!!

Wow, 10 years! It's hard to believe. I just mentioned a couple weeks ago that when I started posting here, my youngest was a toddler, and now he has started middle school. This group has been through so much together, shared our families and our lives, offered one another support through difficulties, cheered each other on, and mourned together the loss of our beloved GollyGee. Who knows, we may all be here in another 10 years--wouldn't that be amazing? I'm raising a toast to the next decade!

10 years and hopefully the children are not going to be exploited anymore. My favorite memory was when the banished lost boy was found, and when we found out that he would be coming home to Jon.

WOW, it doesn’t seem like 10 years! I don’t know how I stumbled on this site but I’m glad that I did. In addition to our Gosselin discussions we have had countless OT discussions that have been a lot of fun. Remember when we took the virtual road trip? We’ve also talked about TV, radio and books. I too miss GollyGee and only hope that she’s looking down and smiling. I’m afraid that there will probably be more discussions on TFW in the future. She’s been way too quiet on back to school/dropping off at college to not be filming some sort of special. Gosselin Grown Up? If TLC isn’t backing her (again) maybe she’s getting a YouTube special together. Oh well, we’ll know one way or the other when TLC needs some holiday filler. Here’s to another 10 years. I’m raising my virtual glass of rumspring 🍷 to all of you and thanking Admin and the pool boys and blog girls for a job well done.

That jonkateplus8forever Instagram page posted a pic of Cara sitting on the stairs of her university next to two girls.
Caption says “ Cara’s first week of school was a success. Fordham University.”

It’s bittersweet to see Cara all grown up going to college. But at the same time I’m very happy that she is experiencing freedom away from that miserable McMansion. I wonder where this fan site gets access to these pictures.

NJGal51 (#19), I tend to think a YouTube channel is out of the question, simply because she's too freaking lazy to sustain such an enterprise. She couldn't even be bothered to check in with the fans after the dating show ended. How hard would it have been to post something in August and ask the fans how their summer was going? And since "busy single mom" is her brand, how about even a general back to school post? Of course I realize she couldn't care less about the fans, but, good gravy, how can she have worked in TV for more than a decade and not learned how to play the game?

That said, I do think that there's a good chance there's another special in the hopper. Something has been sustaining TFW's ego, hence her silence.

I rarely comment as well. But I am glad to have this place to come to whenever I want to see if anything is going on with Kate. I love that Jon rescued Collin and now has Hannah. If only we could hear what Kate is saying about all this. It must just make her furious. Karma Kate, Karma.

Anonymous said...

I could be talking out of my you-know-where, but could it be possible that Kate is laying low because she doesn’t want to answer questions about Hannah and Colin. Jon has shown and proven on Instagram that the kids can have a normal life, thrive, and enjoy trips without a camera crew in tow. He has been getting some positive press lately and the tide seems to be turning with regard to him. And let’s face it, Kate+ Fake Date wasn’t exactly a hit. She knows Kate Plus 8 is donesville. It’s hard to film eight kids when four of them live elsewhere.

Hope anyone in the path of Dorian stays safe.

BlueJay said...

Capecodmama, I agree entirely. I do believe that Kate is just afraid to live a normal life. I believe she believes that SHE is the one who can't live a normal life. As in fully notice she's the one who says can't go back. She's the one who says she has to keep going because it fell in her lap and so on and so on. Nobody else has said this. Jon went back. Her children have gone off and gone to college. But she's the one who maintains that she can't do a normal job or anything like this.

I haven't been around for 10 years, but it's very impressive to have done this for 10 years. I ponder where Kate will be in 10 years. Another has-been that I'm sure off yes. Not that much different from what she is now really. But she is quiet. Oh lord...I can't imagine her show is still filming. It's dead quit beating it.

I too would like to thank you, Admin, for your dedication to this blog over the years. It couldn’t always have been easy or fun, but your hard work is certainly evident. I remember posting way back in 2010 when my son was just a baby. Now I rarely post, but read all the time. So glad you’re continuing here. Hopefully a soon-coming post talks about more children going to live with Jon- or at least more children seeing him.

Congratulations on this big milestone!

I rarely post either, but lurk and read. I’ve enjoyed this blog tremendously. I first began to dislike Kate when she tried to get a free boob job along with her free tummy tuck. Always grifting. Then came the full blown horror that was Kate. Along with watching some kid things in disbelief, like the twins birthday when they had to sit back to back. I was dumbfounded. And came here to see I wasn’t alone.

Hannah and Collin made it on to yahoos first day of school picture article. I do wonder what Kate thinks about them getting publicity while living a normal life. Just think Kate, you could have been in that article too if you had posted something.

Wow, Jon really ticked the "making memories" box there, didn't he? H and C look so relaxed and just . . . happy. It makes me feel sorry for the four left at home now; I wonder if they have access to these photos, or if Mommy Dearest has blocked their phones?

Admin, I concur with everyone else, this has been a wonderful place to come and share. My own interest in the Gosselins didn't come about until the divorce was on the front cover of every tab in 2009--it was literally impossible to avoid. As I started to read up on the background, it was hard not to notice how pro-K8 everyone seemed to be. And at that point I watched some early episodes and, well, my questions were answered. It was clear to me with every weekly story about K8's "agony" and "hardship" and "purse full of bills" that we were watching a story being written by much more powerful beings than K8 and Jon Gosselin. Unfortunately for Jon, it took him a while to catch on to the narrative that was being spun for him (yeah, dude, YOU were the bad guy!). And given the monetary hardship the divorce ultimately placed on him, he was well behind the 8-ball for a very long time. But he found his center of gravity and pushed forward to the place he is now. While Kate just "stood her ground" and persisted with the poor-poor-pitiful-me stories, ad nauseum, until, at long last, it seems there is no one left who cares to listen.

I don't know whether she'll re-emerge on some low-life "reality" show in the near future, but I think it's safe to say, the Glory Days of Katie Irene Gosselin are finally at an end. And not a moment too soon.

Thanks, Admin, for providing a safe and comfortable place for like-minded people to hang out.

Another favorite memory was admin photoshoping Kate and Ratclaws on the titanic. We all knew the cruse was going to be a disaster. The fan she screened out had canceled a Disney cruse for the Kate cruse.

Congrats on a decade of giving a voice to the kids' supporters. I'm sure that behind the scenes somewhere both Jon and the eight have visited this site and had an "A-ha" moment where they recognized what Kate was putting them through was wrong. The support of Mr. Hoffman and Rep. Murt was also assuredly a good thing in protecting the kids' future even though I'm sure Kate has tapped into their trust frequently.

It has been entertaining to keep up with Kate's tantrums and demands, but ultimately it is about trying to ensure the kids get to live their own lives and not waste their childhoods. You've helped.

I'm terribly going to out myself for how long I have read here without saying a word. But, I too remember reading several of PJ Momma's posts when she was here. She seemed like a very nice lady yes. I know there were other's over the years indeed quite a few. I mostly stuck to reading the recaps after I would watch a few shows here and there when I had the time.

You know I discovered when one retires entirely you have time to sit and read an actual book and not have to sit there and think I have somewhere I have to be going. I need to adjust to this phase. It's tougher than I thought! So I went and bought a few travel books.

I do wonder however, when Kate gets into her, excuse me ladies, "golden years," what she is going to do with herself with no children to order about. I don't think she planned that far ahead into her life. I wish the children well though.

Hearing all the old names has been fun. I remember at the height of the divorce and Kate's poor me tour, things were so hopping on the blog I just couldn't keep track of everyone, who they were, where they were from. I'm extremely visual, so not having a photo of a face was hard. Everyone knew me, but I struggled to keep everybody else straight. It was like I was a teacher with a class of 80 or something, and what's more, I wasn't allowed to see their faces!

We've had good times here, love hearing the memories.

Dmasy (#52), read Ronnie and Maggie's post above yours, and you'll see the Hitler video getting its props! The idea that TFW saw Globegate as some sort of parable and/or tribute to her mad mothering skillz is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. She had her kids castigate poor J because he "looked guilty," and yet the child who actually DID damage the globe -- who was lucky enough to not be a dirty, icky boy -- was let totally of the hook. And, for pete's sake, all that sturm und drang over a cockamamie plastic globe? I know we talked about that incident ad nauseum, but to this day I still find it just downright sad that the kids had to grow up in a household like that. They're a kid, they touch things, pick at things, and cheap children's toys are crap and will break. A normal kid growing up in a normal home should have been able to simply say "Hey mom come here, I'm sorry I was messing with the globe and it started to peel. My bad. Maybe we can fix it with some tape or superglue, or perhaps it's time to just retire it, because it's a cheap made in China piece of garbage." To which a normal parent would have responded no worries thanks for letting me know.

No wonder the kids didn't talk to her about it because she made it into an international incident. If a kid is afraid to talk to her mother at age 10, she sure as heck won't talk to her at 19 or any other age.

Remember when we were all going to be arrested? Bullyville and CJWhodunnit were going to see to it that we were all jailed and profiled on Nancy Grace and Anderson Cooper's shows. Haha, we had lots of fun making fun of them. They were just so comical. I was informed at one point that Bullyville knew my identity. I was going to be outed and prosecuted--all because I post here. I responded that perhaps BV should figure out who my husband is and what he does before taking any action. And then...nothing. I guess that means he did his homework, huh?

By the way, CJWhodunnit is the one who started screening the people who showed interest in Kate's cruise, and ended up ruining the whole thing. Nobody was happy to hear they were being vetted by some psycho from Texas. If I were Kate I'd be pretty angry about it--she lost out on a potentially huge payday, thanks to old CJ.

After all that drama, all the threats, we are still here. Good for us!

Admin, I seem to remember you at one point said you follow the royal family.

In the last few days I've looked at the Daily Mail web site & I'm shocked at the way Meghan Markle is slagged. It doesn't matter what she does, she's called out for it. Sometimes I think it's warranted, but mostly it's not anything worse than others in the family have done...such as her uncle in-law Andrew.

Why do you think she's targeted? Her race - she's a divorcee - older than Harry - an actress, or that she's American? None of those warrant the abuse she's taking in my opinion. Hopefully the fact she's an actress & used to rejection is working in her favour.

I don't read any of the negative stuff unless it falls into my lap, like the recent story about their private jet vacation, so it's hard to say why she is so targeted as I'm really not sure what is being said. I have always sensed though in what I have read that Harry is the favorite of the two brothers, though both well liked, and as much as many Americans follow them and are fond of them, put it on times ten if you're a Brit. Coupled with nationalism and the general sentiment that both the boys should have followed the regular British path and marry a nice British girl of noble blood (there is still Kate for Duchess Kate to this day for being a nobody), I do think there's a lot of resentment and jealousy. After all a British girl didn't get her due with Harry, instead he went for an American, and one who is intelligent, glamorous, hard working and successful. Doesn't fit the idea of the lazy fat American. I know some people would like to frame this as veiled racism, but I don't know that the evidence bears that out, especially with Britain's long history of being extremely progressive when it comes to such issues, and leaps and bounds ahead of the USA on that front when it comes to inclusiveness.

Also, there was a very interesting story that came out months ago that explained that after a careful study of who was actually making negative comments about Meghan, it really only came from a handful of IP addresses. In other words a handful of people posting the same thing over and over in an attempt to make it look like there are hoards of people going nuts with hate over her.

I get almost all my royal news exclusively from two blogs: Mad about Meghan and Duchess Kate, and it's run by the same woman, Charlotte. She sounds like an absolute doll and her one rule is she hates negativity so she almost always only posts the nice news. For instance she wouldn't post nonsense about the family getting blasted for taking a vacation after working hard all year, she just ignores the story. Anyhow, Charlotte wrote an extremely lengthy and thoughtful post about some of the criticism and addressing why it's inaccurate and nonsense, you can find it here:

https://madaboutmeghan.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2019-06-27T20:25:00%2B01:00&max-results=2&start=16&by-date=false

I'll tell you what I find really darn interesting though is Prince Andrew's connection to Jeffrey Epstein. I think the royal family went on absolute overdrive to kill that story, I think there is plenty of evidence Andrew was both very close to him and was having relations with underage girls, and it's amazing to me how good they are at killing whatever they need to kill. He should probably be in jail, but I don't think it's going to happen. Makes you wonder what else they've been able to bury, and I'm not going to rule out Diana.

Jolie i also think Meghan’s age is very helpful. She’s 38 years old. Older than Diana when Diana died. At that age you really usually know who you are, the people whose opinions matter to you and those you don’t care. And opinions of random strangers really rank low for most people by the time they’ve gotten to that stage in life. That is the age many people first start to actually understand the old guy saying hey get off my lawn and don’t give a damn that everyone thinks you’re the neighborhood grouch. 😂 https://www.amazon.com/Subtle-Art-Not-Giving-Counterintuitive/dp/0062457713

By the way, CJWhodunnit is the one who started screening the people who showed interest in Kate's cruise, and ended up ruining the whole thing. Nobody was happy to hear they were being vetted by some psycho from Texas. If I were Kate I'd be pretty angry about it--she lost out on a potentially huge payday, thanks to old C

$&$

That fateful cruise lol. That was so good. I remember some legitimately normal fans who signed up who were shocked to be treated so suspicious as if they’re trying to get federal clearance and not just enjoy some sun and buffets. And was it Cindy the name of the gal running the whole thing from the cruise who got in way over her head? She sent a mass email out once about it and didn’t blind cc anybody, so basically everybody got their personal emails outed many of which included real names. You can’t make this stuff up.

Thank you to everyone, and especially to you Admin, for giving us all a place to come together and meet on that beautiful veranda.

SaraMRN2010 (#59), good to see you posting. And your name always makes me think of Susan1956 (Susan, are you out there?). My favorite part of the video was the mention of the cruise: "That s**t ain't happening." Bwahaha! Remember how TFW was going to make it up to all the fans she disappointed by getting together somewhere? She sounded about as sincere as a divorced dad who flaked out on plans with his kids. "Look, guys, we're gonna go to the circus next week, then I'll buy you new iPads, and then we're going to Disneyland! Promise!"

LoveMyGrandsons (#67), what a nice surprise! It's like old home week!

It really reminds me a lot of Kate's nutjob fans back in the day, with some really crazy shut ins getting all out of shape about the stupidest things, like who signs up for a cruise. I think the way the internet is these days, one or two wackos can make 10 or 20, or much more, wackos, feel validated. I suspect this phenomenon is happening with Meghan. She has that God awful sister of hers as their leader, it's someone public to get behind beating the drum, and the crazies follow after her like sheep. Like I said, there's not much value to looking at any of that so I don't.

New movie coming out in Nov., it is Honey Boy and is about the life of child star Shia LeBeouf. He plays his abusive father who was his guardian. It should be a good picture of growing up in the public eye and the we know the problems he has had with coming to terms with his childhood by the often odd and sometimes law breaking antics that have landed him in jail and rehab. He wrote the screenplay. As so often voiced here, childhood should belong to the child, not the viewing public.

There is speculation that Jill and Dericks money went into a family pot that was/ is controlled by Jim Bob. I would not be surprised if this was true. It would not surprise me if the other couples money also went into a family pot. Jim Bob has always been controlling. Money would be one way to keep the adults under his thumb.

Andrea (#95), yes, I've read about the Jim Bob speculation, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was ruling all his children with an iron fist. But Derick is a grown-ass 30-year-old man with a college degree. How in the world did he wind up "volunteering" (as he once put it) to be on TV? He sure was savvy enough to start a GoFundMe account to pay for his missionary travels (which included several trips home). So he doesn't mind the perks of celebrity, but has taken every opportunity to appear, in TFWspeak, "victim-ish." The poor, naive Dillards being taken advantage of by the big bad TV network. When you know if they offered him and Jill and their kids their own show, they'd sign a contract so fast your head would spin.

So happy that the younger Gosselins are off tv! For their sake, and normal adolescence, I hope to NOT hear anything about them, or only rarely.

Good Evening All! I'm still out here in Kansas City--I think we have a real shot at the Super Bowl this year:)--and read the blog every day. My granddaughters are growing up--the youngest started kindergarten and there is a bit of grandparent? alienation going on with the oldest thanks to my ex-SIL.

Like everyone else, I've been so happy and thankful that Collin and Hannah are living with Jon and Colleen and the twins have gone off to college. I worry about the four kids left at the gulag as Kate continues to lose control of the kids as well as the narrative she and TLC have put out all these years. Sometimes I wonder what TFMJG's next move will be after that horrible dating show and the fact she has not bothered to post her usual BTS pictures of the kids left at the gulag. Is she truly done? Kate was lucky enough to be struck by lightning (even though she manufactured it) back in 2004, but she has done nothing but squander all the opportunities she was given to have an actual place in show biz based on hard work and an actual brand rather than being known as a train wreck of a wife and controlling mother of twins and sextuplets. I like to think that the public and the parents of multiples/HOM's have evolved over the last 15 years in how they view the children. I don't watch the shows, but have chuckled a little bit as more of the Duggar kids publicly express themselves and show they are not little JimBoob robots. I was also happy that the Busby parents enrolled one of the quints in kindergarten even though her sisters are not ready.

It's been a wild ride at times over the last 10 years and I look forward to the next 10 years.

Kate getting the sack in such a public way was probably one of my favorite moments.

They could have just quietly phased her out, pretended the contract was up and they're going to move in another direction thanks for playing. But nope, they made it clear the bitch got FIRED.

Did we ever find out what the "series of recent events" was or were we left to just speculate? It's been so long.

I was surprised she lasted as long as she did there, but nobody can accuse CC of failing to give her enough opportunities to succeed.

K+8 has been off the air for over 2 years. I can't figure out why TLC would ever bring it back. The ratings were awful, especially after Collin left. They can't possibly think it will be better with even more kids missing. The dating show, featuring two of the kids, failed miserably. The first time K+8 was cancelled, it was brought back after almost 3 years, and had decent ratings for a short time. Maybe they think the same thing will happen since it's been off the air for so long, but the dating show should set them straight about that. Nobody missed them. The people who did watch got sick of them pretty fast, and ratings never recovered. That ship has sailed. Kate and TLC just need to accept it.

I can't possibly understand what in the world TLC would see in Kate to bother bring her back again. Sure, it may have worked previously, perhaps. She might be seen as filled, who knows.

But what I can't understand is why Kate can't find it in herself to find ANYTHING else to do? I mean she could you know just really find it within herself and move on to something else beyond TLC, it is after all a big world out there you know. Lots to do beyond the scope of promoting her children as a marketable means of multiples. It speaks to her own sense of narrow mind in a way.

Her own personal blog she has set up never did get off the ground apparently that business of Kate plus my 8.

Not as if she could have, I shouldn't finish that sentence really, any more contracts to bilk out from TLC now, right? And here, I finished it anyway oh dear. Quick knock on wood folks!

Susan 1956, Mady has a new picture of herself with a friend on her IG. Her hair is shorter than it used to be--about the same as it was after when Guncle Ronnie cut it for her on her YouTube video. It doesn't look lighter to me. She's wearing a long t-shirt with Dr Martens boots, copying Malia Obama's style. Malia wears her Dr Martens with everything, including short dresses, and now loads of college girls do the same.

Count me in for the Downton Abbey movie! A friend and I have been watching an episode each night, catching up before seeing the movie. We're loving it just as much as we did when it first came out.

Love My Gransons,
Good to see you back! On my calendar (my Downton Abbey calendar!)I have a countdown of the days until my own grandson arrives. We're getting close!

I, like many others, hope this blog stays open. There is so much more to discuss and information to be shared than anything about the lovely Ms. Katie Irene. I have learned so much from the postings here and always look forward to see what is happening with our fellow posters and subjects that are of interest to us.

I remember when this blog was all about protecting the "privacy" of the Gosselin children. We all agreed that Kate plus 8 was exploiting the kids' privacy. The feeling at the time was that Kate was "using" her children for her own gain.

Yet now it seems to be all about promoting about what Jon posts on IG, what Mady posts, what Collin posts, etc. etc.

So much for "protecting" the kids' privacy. This blog and it's posters seem more than willing to exploit it.

Think about it. If Collin has a private IG account, and you're one of the lucky people who he has allowed into it, are you actually "protecting" him, or are you "using" him to get back at Kate?

Sorry, you can't say that you're against "child exploitation", when you're actually using the child to exploit your own agenda.

Mady and Jon are not children.

I think the few things said about Collin are always said with joy that he’s doing so incredibly well. I’ve never once posted a photo from his own account.

What agenda do we have here?

Sandylove said...

GiGi Be, that's not the same photo that I was talking about. The photo I saw of Mady (she is alone) is on the Kateplus8kids Instagram page. I'm sorry I don't know how to link the photo.

It doesn't look like a filter making her hair lighter, it actually looks like she got it lightened. I'm sure filters can do wonderful things but in my personal opinion it looks like she got her hair lightened. She looks really good.

I think Collin’s father and new much better mother are perfectly capable of deciding whether that young man should have an Instagram account, private or not, and who he can friend and what they can say, without lectures from anonymous people on the internet what he should or shouldn’t be doing or what is or is not appropriate.

Maybe you should focus more on repairing what if anything is left of your relationship with your son, Kate, and don’t worry about this blog

You truly are the least self-aware person on the planet. Half of your posts are lectures (including the one to which I am responding) and you have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours on this blog blessing your readers with your vast expertise on every subject known to humankind.

I feel sorry for your real life friends, if you have any, since you have no respect for others' privacy. Apparently you think it's just fine to make people's private social media posts public. And it's okay to share private information if you do so joyfully. You have some mightily effed up values.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It's not your blog or your decision what is allowed to be posted. Don't you wish you could have a blog going this strong for ten years, but that would take work, savvy and smarts, neither of which you're interested in. And all you've done is lecture this blog about what is appropriate.

It's also clear from your post the truth is you really have some creepy beef with me, and aren't really concerned about anybody's privacy or whatever you claim to be oh so concerned about at the moment. That's very typical from your lot.

You're talking to the wrong person. You need to talk to Jon if you have concerns about his son. He is readily available on social media and usually responds if you try not to act like such a psycho. I'm sure he'll tell you to F off his child/almost adult is none of your damn concern. And everybody knows once you allow a bunch of people to "friend" your private social media, people you know nothing about, it's not "private". Even a kid. A kid who, if he let you follow him, which he doesn't, you would realize doesn't even post anything that would be remotely considered "private" or intrusive into his life. He is remarkably appropriate and reasonable on social media for a child his age. Profound, really. He probably got his good sense from his father and new mother.

I haven't the least bit of interest in "promoting" what anyone says on social media or otherwise. The only reason most of the Gosselin news discussed here lately is from their social media should be so simple I'm not sure why you don't get it. The reason is that's the only news available at the moment.

There IS no other Gosselin news. Kate is on radio silence cause she's lazy and don't give a damn about you or keeping the rest of her fans updated no matter how loyal they have been. Jon and a couple of the kids are the only ones engaging with the public, so yeah, that's where the bulk of our news comes from. That's like being mad you're only getting your local news from one newspaper when your town only HAS one newspaper. Grow up.

Speaking of instagram, I'll say what I like about Mady who is an adult.

I think her comment to likes ratio is WAY off. I'm getting about 1 comment for every 10 likes on my instagram, which seems about right. She's getting one comment for every 140 likes. Wayyyy off.

She's buying followers, which is sad. She's going to a great school and it's freshman year. Focus on school right now, forget stupid social media. Whose credit card did all those fake followers go on?

Formerly Duped said...

I agree. Jon and Mady are adults and Jon is very discreet in what he posts about the kids and nothing negative has been said here. We are all so happy to see Collin looking healthy and Hannah being happy. As for Collin's IG I'm sure Jon supervises it and he does say inspirational things which I see nothing wrong in sharing. Jon had Hannah take her account down or to private when it got some hecklers. They are normal teenage kids, thank God. Sharing positive things about the kids here is ok by me! Mady's IG and YouTube do not interest me but she seems very much like her mother, craving attention and they are public forums.

Mady, an adult, has 82,000 followers. Fake followers or not she is not someone who wants privacy. I see no reason anonymous posters on the internet should want privacy more than she does.

Mady has learned her social media skills from her mother. I've been watching the July 3rd pool pic on Kate's IG since Jon posted the BTS pictures of Collin, Hannah and himself. An 2+ month old picture has suddenly gained 150 likes but only 2 comments. As September progresses it seems less likely that TFMJG is saving the BTS picture of the 4 kids left in the gulag for publication but just can't be bothered to keep the doorstep BTS picture tradition going.

I read "Little Women" in high school and adored it, but knew zero about the author. She actually worked as a nurse during the Civil War! She died at only 55. I'm now even more excited to see the latest "Little Women" movie coming out at Christmas.

I really hope my comment doesn't sound creepy. But i'll admit that when i discovered collin's account and saw that he had over 3,0000 followers that made me think that he accepts people that sends him a follower request and as such i did send him one thinking so.Needless to say that he does indeed and judging by his comments,he does interact with people who follow him and replies to fans.It should be noted that if he didn't accept it fine i'll respect his decision,i'm not one of those creepy fans who'd make different accounts and try to stalk him.My point is that Collin chose to accept the people that send him follow request,if he 100% wanted to,he'd go private like hannah and not accept fan following.Im just saying, and with that said,i don't really observe everything he does, mostly the sweet stuff like wishing his uncle a happy birthday.

Speaking of Collin's Instagram, he only posts sweet pictures of his dog, pictures of his artwork, a tribute to his teacher and vacation pictures. Every comment to him has been nothing but encouraging. He is a sensitive young man who deserves to be told he is worthwhile. I am glad so many...even if they are "strangers" have told him he WAS missed and people were concerned about him. I do not recall seeing posts where people have trashed his birth mother...which shows more respect than she ever gave his father. Showing interest in his well being and encouraging him is something his "mother" was incapable of doing. No "stranger's" comment on Instagram could ever come close to the hurt and damage she inflicted on him. She is the one who should be blocked from his life.

This blog was started out of concern for the exploitation of the Gosselin children. Admin makes no money off this blog. Kate made money by filming the kids. The kids know that filming Kate Plus 8 paid the bills. That is an increasingly stressful burden to put on a six year old. Kate should have been working to pay the bills or the kids. Kate has had the ability to work full time since the kids started to go to school full time. She simply choose not to. She thinks she is too good for that,

Jon makes no money by posting pictures on his Instagram account. He only posts a few pictures of the kids each year. They are the same kinds of pictures you see on all parent Instagram accounts. Jon works to pay the bills. The kids don't do anything to contribute to the family income.

Ampersmom (#145), waving back at you!

When TFW finally does pop back in on social media, how will she explain her absence? She's been super busy juggling managing 4 kids with having no job? Schmoopy's overworked single mom narrative has officially and permanently expired. And, bless her heart, she hasn't bothered to come up with a new one.

Kate will probably claim her absence was due to some emotional breakdown because the man she hired to date her found someone else. Then the twins left for school....everyone in her life abandons her through no fault of her own. If she tries to pull the sympathy card, I've got one word for her: Collin.

I admit it made me nervous to see Collin on social media allowing people to friend him given how delicate he could be, but I trusted Jon and his new mother Colleen were monitoring the situation. But to my pleasant surprise I think this is a somewhat unusual case where having his set of encouraging social media friends is a really good outlet for a kid like him.

I actually have started to make a point to comment, in the voice of my dog. He seems to enjoy the encouragement and interaction without being too caught up on it. I don't get any sense at all he's checking his social media more than a couple times a day if that. It's about as healthy a presence on social media for a kid his age as you can find. Any negative sentiment to the contrary is from people unaware of what's actually happening on his accounts.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

foxy (#151), sounds like a lousy way to start your day! TLC is probably just using their favorite side piece to fill an empty morning space. K+8 can't ever come back, because TFW is only parenting 6 kids. Maybe if she can get Mady and Cara to marry young, her new sons-in-law could pinch hit for the missing 2?

I still say at least one kid will leave home and never come back. Maybe not until he or she reaches their 20's or even 30's. But once the reality sets in of how their mother sold their childhoods, and deprived them of a relationship with their father, some east coast therapists are going to be driving much nicer cars.

Thank you. It's nice to see someone call out the glaring hypocrisy in evidence here. It was never about "child exploitation" for most posters here; it has always been about Kate hate. The kids have always been secondary to the blog's main agenda.

&&&

You're mixing up cause and effect. The concern about child exploitation came first followed by hating Kate if that's what you want to call it. I don't hate Kate but I do think her choices have and will continue to have a serious emotional impact on her children. I actually happen to think at this point the divorce and her treatment of Jon could very well be worse than all the filming of the kids. They haven't filmed in ages. So, that.

Nobody watches every word of Jodi's testimony before her state legislature or follows every move of Rep Murt because they just hate Kate. That would be a tremendous waste of energy.

Foxy said @ 151 - I had trouble sleeping last night and at precisely 5:36 am I switched on the TV hoping to catch the overnight news. I hit the "mute" so as not to wake my husband and while surfing I landed on TLC; and there she was sitting on her couch, rolling her eyes and waving her hands around. I checked the TV "menu" and apparently she was on between 5:00 and 6:00 am; her audience at that time likely being insomniacs and/or nursing mothers. I watched for a bit (without sound) while she reeled in a fish and a couple of the kids got seasick (I'm assuming this was the Florida adventure which Admin covered in her recap following the trip). Like you, I gave the rest of the show a pass and continued searching for 'news".

bm (#155), I wonder if those "posh" trips were part of TFW's undoing. On what planet does an actual single mom with 8 kids and no steady job get to go on vacation after vacation?

When J&K+8 was in its heyday, viewers related to the chaos of an overwhelmed young couple with 2 sets of multiples. Then after the divorce, TFW's lifestyle was more like a fantasy for her fans to experience vicariously. But after a while, it seemed like the same old same old. How many times can you watch a family pack for a vacation?

She is such a classic example of greed ruining everything that was great about something. That’s right the show actually WAS interesting when we were watching a young couple making it on savvy and organization and creativity. It got boring once there was no need to figure out a way to survive because it was all being handed to them. Kate was happier, but she destroyed the whole hook of the show getting there and never recovered.

This article popped up on my Google feed and while the article was dated today, it sounds like something that should have been posted in June when her show was on.

Kate was talking about why she needed reality TV to raise her family. And this one sentence caught my eye. ------------

Does she really think that her kids would be proud that the world has seen them on the potty, in the bath, vomiting, suffering from migraines and constipation, being harshly disciplined, etc etc. And does she think Collin will be proud of the LIES she told the world about his "special needs"? No... she doesn't give a damn about the kids' feelings (at least not their REAL feelings) because it's all about HER.

BlueJay said...

I personally think she just saw $$$ dollar signs and nothing else seemed to matter after that when TLC came calling. Heck with anything else and everyone else. Money is the root of all evil. If she really had cared about her children as she claimed from the start you know, about the bed rest, and what she put in her mouth, and her own children's privacy and such and such and all that, she would have needed reality television. She and her husband then would have found a way to make it work regardless. She would have found a way to make it work after her divorce.

I never worked as a nurse, but I have a friend she did work as a nurse. She shared with me and I use to watch her for years before she retired. She use to work the night shift when her children were growing up so that way she could get off in the morning to see her children off to school and all that do her errands and then she'd go to sleep during the day, her husband would cook dinner before she went off to work the night shift again or a neighbor or her mother, someone was there for her children when she was not available. I often collected some of her kids with my own kids. Point is if Kate had worked a nurse you know, you do what you have to do to fit your life around your children if you have them. If you don't, that's your life and your business nothing wrong with that either.

But Kate makes being a martyr about "pity me I could never go back to being a nurse because I had kids." Her and her husband if they actually thought about it have made their lives work, she just saw dollar signs that was all. She didn't need reality television so raise a family. Nobody does. Nobody twisted her arm and said if you don't do reality television your children won't survive. They would have. Just it wouldn't have been perhaps so fancy. So what?

Now look at her. In her 40's. No real job skill to fall back on. I'm retired but I worked. I was there for my children maybe not every day but I don't remember them ever feeling abandoned. She needs get off her soap box that she had no other alternative. It's not like she's lived a pioneer lifestyle here.

Sandylove said...

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Sandylove (#162), yes, TFW has proven time and again that she'll agree to anything that meets these these 3 criteria: money, her mug on TV, and time away from her kids.

Capecodmama (#164), and remember how she claimed as one of the show's producers, she "knew the best way to show" her family? Either that title was just something her agent wangled for her with zero power behind it, or she actually saw that pathetic footage ahead of time and approved it.

I think she's thrilled to present herself as a desirable creature on screen. Too bad this last show required a casting agency and 2 dating coaches to try to pull off that illusion. I'm not mocking her physical appearance. I mean it's that odious, shallow, me-me-me personality that continues to do her in.

Didn’t she claim that she got an offer to pose for Playboy and that was debunked by Hugh Hefner himself? And then there was all her BS while on DWTS where she said she’d only wear “modest” type outfits because she had to think of her kids watching the show.....all the while running around in short shorts while pumping gas and being filmed in NYC in barely there clothes sucking on her Statue of Liberty lollipop or racing down the street with ice cream. I’m sure that if the kids and their friends saw clips of that now they would be really proud of her!

I love the fact that Christie Brinkley's daughter Sailor stepped in and took her place on DWTS after Christie broke her arm. Sailor is a successful model, yet was willing to take the time to do this for her mom. I think that's sweet.

I really do hope that we have seen the last of Kate and her kids on TV. The rating speak for themselves--nobody wants to watch their shows. I don't believe Kate has ever turned down any TV spot for any reason. She loves filming more than she loves her kids and she would never turn down a chance to film for their sake. The kids are just a means to and end for her, and the end for her is TV.

Finally!!!

The Daily Mail article SHOULD be the nail in Kate's coffin.. but we all know she's not going down without a fight. I just hope the kids aren't further traumatized in the process.

Eh, it won't be. She'll sell her exclusive "setting the record straight" story to People, and her excuse as far as Collin is concerned will be that everything that was done was "on the advice of his doctors." Get ready, you'll be hearing this like a robo-call in the coming days.

The fact that she shipped Collin further away from home once Jon found out where he was is, at least in my view, indefensible. She must have thought the security protocols at the first facility were inadequate to keep her dirty secret. What a spiteful, hateful thing to do to a child.

How I wish People would reach out to Jon about this story. But I doubt they will.

Oh dear, gonna' be a bad day at the compound. I hope the kids duck and run.

I have no words for that bitch after reading what she did to her son. I honestly hope Jon destroys her.

This "bombshell" interview is probably what Jon was hinting at in early summer. He basically said "hold tight...something's coming". I was waiting to see what was going to happen. The 10 year gag order being lifted is huge. Yes! Go Jon!! Your father would be so proud of you!

Wow so he was in Fairmount in Philly then moved him. I had figured out the western pa site from pics Jon posted on IG. That letter is heartbreaking. God bless his roommate! I’m sure he does have PTSD from the Abuse, the rejection, and from whatever awful things may have happened. This article is from two months before his letter https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/pennsylvania/philadelphia/Death-rape-Philadelphia-Wordsworth-residential-treatment-center-troubled-youth.html

You know, this story may be too good for People to pass up. Loyalty shmoyalty...if it'll sell more magazines, they may just interview Jon.

Wow. Now would be a good time to write that book Jon hinted at. Or the kids will later on. How can anyone support Kate? I am heartbroken even though we all knew what was going on; seeing it in print and video in Jon's words with documented proof, Collin's written cries for help...incredibly sad.

That letter written to John by Collin in crayon is heartbreaking!

Jon mentioned they walked away from all their money... I hope they all have legal standing to receive money that they earned their entire lives.

I am wondering about this, too. But it's inconceivable to me that there could be anything that restricts their access to THEIR money just because they're not living with Mommie Dearest anymore. I hope there is a plan afoot to do a complete forensic accounting of all the funds belonging to the kids that have been in Mommy's control all these years. I'm sure that would be a real eye-opener. There's no earthly reason C and H should have to relinquish their share.
