Horrifying link: Abusive parents the Turpins wanted to be just like Kate

The recent shocking case of the Turpins, parents who starved and abused their 13 children for years, has a disturbing connection to Kate Plus 8. According to family members, the family wanted to be just like the Gosselins.

"House of Horrors couple David and Louise Turpin wanted a 14th child so that they could land their own reality television show, it has been revealed. "She used to say how they would be perfect for TV and would often mention they would be bigger than the reality show Kate Plus 8," Billy Lambert, Louise Turpin's half brother, told the Sunday People. "It is the reason they moved to California to be nearer to Hollywood," Lambert said of Louise's desire to become a star, like Kate Gosselin and her children.

What say you about this, Kate?

I imagine at least the two boys would be cheering the home team. I think that spread she put out was something she felt she had to do having previously referred to it as 'traditional'. It couldn't have been much fun for others to be around her (hashtag) "Whatever" attitude.

My heart was pounding at the end of the game last night! I'm beyond thrilled that my E-A-G-l-E-S won the Super Bowl and so happy for the city.
Also relieved the damage reports were minimal, because you know, Philly fans and all ;-)

I'm so happy for Hannah that she got to spend the SB with Jon and Colleen, who are actual sports fans, football fans, Eagles fans and social people who actually feel joy and a connectedness to their community.

WTF does her hashtag #BetterLuckNextYear even mean? Is she so full of herself that she thinks only teams that she "likes" should only be allowed to play? Or maybe she's referring to getting her show back on the air. She is an ass and God help any of the kids that were rooting for the home team. And Milo, that's not reallly a "sumptuous" spread. Store bought mediocrity at it's finest.

Yesterday was an incredible couple hours for Philly fans and most Pennsylvanians. Is her narcissism so off the charts she can't join in the joy too? Apparently so.

I watched bits and pieces of the Super Bowl. I usually try to be there for the last quarter because that's the most exciting part. I live in MD, but we have lots of family in PA, so we were rooting for the Eagles. Too bad Kate's sour attitude was such a downer. No wonder Hannah chose to be with Jon. Wasn't Hannah the one who blew the whistle onKate's "celebrations"? Said she constantly whined and said, "I don't want to do this! I'm so tired". What a way to suck all the fun out of it for the kids.

MikeB said...

What was the point of her Twitter post? If you don't like either team and don't find the competition entertaining, then simply don't watch. It is a waste of your time and your negativity will only make the other people uncomfortable.

I don't know if her kids cared about the game or not. If they wanted to watch then Kate should have just put out a spread for them and let them enjoy the game in peace. Go back to her room, crack open a new box of wine, and don't get jealous because other people are having a good time.

Admin, Tucker's Mom, and any other Eagles fans...congrats! Awfully exciting game, even for those of us who aren't experts!

Admin (#5), I don't think TFW'S apathy is due to narcissism this time. It's her raging, blinding, all-consuming, suffocating hatred of her children's father that's to blame. And having her former pet child H sitting with dad, and loving every moment of it, must've really grilled TFW'S cheese.

I bet H cherishes that special time with her dad more than just about any of those silly "golden platter" moments micro-managed by her mother and TLC. Making memories with no camera crew and no paycheck. Who'd a thunk it?

On Super Bowl Sunday in the afternoon/early evening, with a bar that serves food? I don’t see the problem for a teenager. No different than Applebys or Dave and Busters or Buffalo Wild Wings, all of which people frequently take children to.

Agree with this comment. I have a PJ's near my house and we take the kids to it. My older kids go there with their friends. It's a chain restaurant that has a bar in it. It's a good place to take kids because it tends to be loud. It's very large and accommodates big groups so it draws sports teams after games.

Tucker's Mom said...

There's nothing wrong with taking kids/teens to sports bars to watch a game, cheer with fans and eat food.
I'm sure the local Applebees, TGIFs, Green Turtle and Chili's were chock full of fans with kids.
It's not like Jon took Hannah to the corner tappy!
Heck, might as well have a problem with parents taking their kids to Dave & Busters and allowing themselves to enjoy a beer or two while the kids eat and get entertained.
I'll tell you why I loved the photo of Hannah with her dad and Collen. Because it's REAL. It's getting out like a normal kids, like a normal family and mixing it up with the mediocres!

Jon drinks, curses and has gone through a handful too many women since Kate, and to me, that makes him human and not above it all, like his ex wife.

Tucker's Mom said...

Moreover, I'm glad at least one of the kids got the HELL out of the basement to watch the SB!
What Jon managed to work out with having Hannah for the SB, and taking her out to be with her community, is something she will NEVER forget.
She just might become a life-long Eagles fan like me.
Believe me, there is much bonding that can come from sharing love of sports, especially your home team.

Imagine the difference being with Jon and being with her dour, pissy mother...
The only thing that could have made it better is if Joel and Aaden could have been with Jon, too.

Layla said...

One really nice thing about seeing Hannah with Jon is that it's just her. Kate always divides the kids into groups--the twins/tups, boys/girls, big girls/little girls/boys. You never see her do anything with just one child. I's like they aren't individuals to her, or maybe there are just too many kids for her to give any of them individual attention. Maybe that's part of the reason why H wants to be with her dad. She might want to be treated as an individual, not just part of a group.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Sports, if they interest you, can be one of life’s great joys. A way to bond with family and friends and neighbors. But to get the full experience one should experience them with other fans, and if they get the chance, at an actual game. Some of my best memories old and recent are going to actual football games with family and friends, most recently last January’s Fiesta bowl. What a blast that was in Phoenix. There was lots of drinking and lots of kids and plenty of appropriate good fun.

Tucker's Mom said...

Heck, if you don't want to mix kids with sports and drinking, DO NOT take them to an actual game!
There, you might be mixing it up with people who are enjoying adult beverages, sometimes to excess.
We can't all be gifted a luxury box like Kate, separate from the unwashed masses ;-)

I have no idea if he has an alcohol problem, that is for a professional to say, but as long as he was appropriate and she had a great time with Hannah at an afternoon super bowl party and got the poor kid out of the house for once, what does this have to do with anything?

A parent can drink boxed wine at home all night and never leave their bedroom and also be an alcoholic.

Layla said...

*****************

I think Kate has an alcohol problem. A former nanny tattled about Kate's excessive drinking. She has posed the kids in front of a full wine rack for photos, and posted photos showing wine bottles in her bedroom. I think there were more in the dining room, under the buffet, in the promo for the Halloween episode. Another clip from a party (deck party?) showed Kate and some other adults drinking wine, with the kids present. Kate keeps alcohol all over the house where the kids live. If you want to worry about a parent exposing them to alcohol, then Kate is the one to worry about.

No kind of abusive drinking is good, but I trust someone who drinks openly at a bar among peers far more than someone hiding it at home. At a bar they can cut you off or kick you out if you drink too much. There’s no one doing that when you’re a single mom tipping back the boxed wine. In fact that is one of the warning signs of alcoholism, you stop going to bars and start drinking more discreetly at home.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

So it's up to a professional to decide if the guy you like is an alcoholic but you as a non-professional can insinuate that the person you detest is an alcoholic. Got it.

I have no idea if either parent in this situation is an alcoholic, that is for the professionals to decide. I’m saying if you are worried about a parent drinking in a bar you should be just as worried about a parent drinking at home. Got it?

I was thinking the same thing. What a shame that Jon's sons (all three of them) won't even have the simple childhood memory most kids have of watching the Super Bowl with their father.

Too bad the boys were cooped up alone in the basement with TFW in a bitchy mood. They should have been enjoying a good time cheering on their home team, optimally with their dad and other family or friends. Instead, they were alone as usual, with TFW's joyless feast that she purchased at Costco and slapped down on a table in the basement for the sole purpose of taking her annual B.S. photo.

By the way, that was a pretty pathetic display for someone who wrote a cookbook. She's too lazy to make some decent Super Bowl food and snacks and post photos and recipes like other cookbook authors do on their blogs this time of year.

As far as Hannah, I think she must be staying overnight with Jon more often given the fact that she was at the Super Bowl party with him. I doubt he just had her for the day and would be bringing her back to TFW's house late on a Sunday night.

I'm happy for Jon and H that their team won. Even better, it pissed TFW off. Plus, she must have been really pissed that Jon posted the pic and video of him and H having fun. Hmm, have we ever seen TFW post pics of her and any of the kids enjoying something fun together? Nope. It's just the same old pics with the dogs, cooped up in the house.

We know that two of the eight were not there for the game, Hannah being fortunate enough to be with her Dad, and Collin being God knows where. That leaves six of the kids, the twins and four 'tups. I'm not counting TFW because as she said, she "couldn't care less" about the game. Looking at the pictures she posted, it seems to me that is an exceptionally long table set up for six teenagers; and look at all the plastic forks that look as if she opened a package and just dumped them. Does anyone else think all this was so that fans might think some of the friends she claims to have might be joining them for the game. I still can't imagine why she placed the table almost on top of all that equipment to the left in the picture.

It's one of those cakes that is more for decoration than to actually eat it, no one actually cracks into it.

At this age the kids are well old enough to go off with friends for this day.
By this age, I recall going off to friends for the Super Bowl and that it was a big event in a young teen's social calendar. It seemed to often occur at the start of winter break so we could do sleepovers that night. I'm betting a lot of the kids may indeed have gone off, given that there is no picture proof anybody was actually there.

I think there could be concern if a parent is just taking a kid along to a bar on an ordinary day and getting plastered. That's one thing. But a bar that is also there to serve food and non-alcoholic drinks, welcomes families, and is throwing events for things children also enjoy like the Super Bowl or Olympics, etc., I think is very appropriate. No different than the many other occasions in which children are around, but do not consume, alcohol.

I totally get that bars would have a bad connotation for a survivor of alcohol abuse. But having worked on hundreds of alcohol cases, I have to say bars are rarely the root of the problem. Usually, the majority of alcohol is consumed at home because at the point that CPS is involved the alcohol abuse is so bad most people HAVE to hide their consumption at home. I have not found that completely shielding children from alcohol is effective at much of anything but making them overly curious about it. Kids seem to do better when exposed to adults consuming alcohol but in a responsible way--not getting drunk, not causing problems, employing a DD, etc. They learn by example.

Taking her post in context with Jon she was upset that Jon came up with a cool way to spend the Super Bowl (at a gathering with friends at a trendy spot), that Hannah wanted to go and that Hannah would have a blast.

I think she really does want to be the cool mom everyone loves, but has no idea how other than to rule with an iron fist, to isolate, to separate. That technique works for maybe up to age 11 or 12 but not much older. You really can't easily push around teens. Judging by the show, I don't think the kids seem to think she is cool or have an overwhelming desire to hang out with her, and she knows it.

Yet, it doesn't even enter her mind that SHE could come up with a cool Super Bowl party idea herself that the kids would love (take the kids to one of the many public parties out there, or invite them to bring all their friends over to her house and let them go wild, etc.). She is a one track record, she doesn't know how to do anything else but feed them mediocre food and stick them in front of the TV. (Where was the big cheesy pizza to pig out on, the chicken wings, the mountain dew?) Of course kids are going to tire of that tedium soon.

How to get kids to not want to be around you: put down and be negative about other people's fun you weren't smart enough to come up with yourself.

I find nothing wrong with what Jon was doing. It’s called social drinking and it was for celebrating the occasion. I’m so glad Hannah got some individual time with him and got away from the McMansion for the weekend. I’m sure it’ll be an experience she’ll remember and she didn’t spend it in that joyless basement.

Anywho, Rob wrote about Kate’s supposed drinking problem. Now THIS would worry me! I would hope that if this still goes on, that she would never get behind a wheel intoxicated. Especially with the kids.

“Not only does Hoffman accuse Gosselin, who split from her longtime beau Jon, 37, in 2009, of child abuse, he also claims she has a problem with alcohol. “
“Kate’s drinking is something the children are accustomed to,” Hoffman says in the tell-all, according to the tabloid. “Kate once fell down the stairs while drunk in front of the children and the oldest girls helped her up and cleaned up the broken glass from her drink, Hoffman goes on to write that Gosselin’s drinking problem, at one point, even became apparent to her staffers. According to the report, a baby-sitter was once promptly fired after suggesting Gosselin not get behind the wheel after appearing intoxicated. “[Kate] snapped at her and told her not to question her again,” claims Hoffman

Admin, you're right about that. Her traditions are getting boring. The kids are outgrowing her same old, same old, do-everything-as-a-family thing.

She can't keep them corralled in that fortress too much longer and it's driving her into a very dark place, just by the tone of her IG. Hannah was supposed to be the golden child and there she is with her dad. That alone is enough to set off on her downward swing. Some of the others may follow and she's going wiggy over the thought of losing control.

Was there a Phillies fan who WASN'T double fisting it yesterday afternoon??

Work hard, play hard! LOL.

And this is the thing, the kids are old enough now to realize there are a whole host of fun things to do out there in the world that have nothing to do with Kate or the basement or the TV or a plate of crap food. And they're going to WANT to do them. And there's really not much Kate can do about it.

I wonder if she's heard the phrase if you can't beat em join em. How the kids would have adored it if the two of them could just get along and BOTH attend the Super Bowl party with all the children? They can each bring their own friends and need not hang out arm and arm the whole afternoon, but lots of divorced parents are able to share in fun events like this for the good of the children. It would have been a win-win for Kate. The kids would have had a blast and now dad AND mom are cool for taking them to this. Idiot.

Admin (#54), TFW would've sooner gone to Mars than go to that sports bar on Sunday. She's proven again and again that she hates Jon more than she loves her kids. If their wellbeing was truly her top priority, she would've pulled the plug on that show when her marriage ended. She would have given those 8 children a chance to heal from what SHE turned into a public, contentious divorce away from the glare of the cameras. And she would have figured out a way to co-parent with a man who was willing and able to be a part of his kids' lives.

I seriously doubt that Mady and Cara were interested in watching the SB. Sitting together with their younger siblings (the ones Mady said she hates "individually and as a group") in the basement watching football just doesn't seem like it would appeal to them. Hannah and Collin were not home, so at best there were 5 in the basement (if all the other kids watched the SB). Rather a low turnout, and definitely a sign of things to come. Kate likes to wax poetic about all the kids gathering at home along with their own families in the future, but they might just have other ideas.

I seriously doubt that Mady and Cara were interested in watching the SB. Sitting together with their younger siblings (the ones Mady said she hates "individually and as a group") in the basement watching football just doesn't seem like it would appeal to them.

$$$

Watching SB with girlfriends and even boyfriends at this age where you’re doing more socializing than game watching, yes. Watching at home with mother and younger siblings in the basement? Cut me a break.

Especially with a sour-puss parent who isn't interested in the least about a game, and doesn't care who wins. What fun!

I would imagine that Hannah, with Jon in a sports pub, eating pizza and steak sandwiches, had so much fun with fans, rooting for the home team in what turned out to be an incredible game!

I also think Jon got more custody time with Hannah. She's the one who has been actively seeking more time with him, and hopefully the court finally listened to her instead of just siding with Kate like always before. Hannah is old enough to have a say in what happens to her. Plus the fact that it was just her...I think if the others had a choice, more would have been with him. Hannah sure did look happy, and it's great to finally see one of the kids getting some one-on-one attention. If she prefers to be with Jon, then she must be comfortable with Colleen, too.

Formerly Duped said...

Wonder if this caused a rift between Leah and Hannah-I hope not because those two were close and lucky to have one another although I often felt they ganged up on Alexis.

jamesvader1194 said...

@Layla I'm hoping this was the reason why we haven't seen any filming in quite a while. With Collin gone, hannah being with Jon more and i believe Cara not wanting to film, its getting more difficult for Kate to find a time where TLC can film Kate and them.

Former Lurker said...

What a shame that the boys couldn't have also been with their father watching the game and cheering on the home team.

At the very least, it would have been nice if they could have invited some friends over to enjoy the big game together. Instead, it's the same old, same old alone in the basement with the same old lackluster spread.

By the way, why does she always put the Super Bowl spread on a table down in the basement? Is that TV down there a lot bigger than the one upstairs in the family room off the kitchen? The basement TV doesn't look all that big to me in the 2015 photo:

https://twitter.com/Kateplusmy8/status/562037703987167232

There's a photo from 2014 where she had the Super Bowl food on the kitchen counter, so I assume they watched the game upstairs that year:

jamesvader1194,
Good point. There was a big backlash about Collin being gone, and if Hannah and Cara are fighting against being filmed, that makes things very difficult. In TLC's statement last July, they said that there were issues with schedules (including the Gosselins'). Collin wasn't going to be back any time soon, and Hannah (at that time) was spending more time with Jon. Mady and Cara will be off to college in a year and a half, so scheduling will be even harder. I'm sure Kate thinks she can get the girls to come home and film during the summers, but as adults they can demand their own salaries. Kate won't be able to claim all of it for herself. That could cause problems. Things are going to get harder and harder for filming in the future.

You know what? Kate would have dyed Nookie's coat Eagle's green and invited her usual "friends" for a SB blowout of epic proportions if TLC was filming.
What a story line that could have been?
Kate would have put on airs about being a Philly native and sat on her basement throne talking about "her" team and "GO EAGLES!" and oh my, her Eagles "traditions".

Yes, that thought did occur to me, but no one is saying there should have been pics of any of the kids, hers or any friends. In any case, I'm sure that in the rare event they dd have friends over, TFW would have certainly have mentioned "celebrating with friends" in her Instagram post rather than the crabby comment she posted with the food pics:

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Had TLC still been filming, TFW could have pitched this as an episode. They could have been all excited that the Eagles finally made it to the Super Bowl, and the episode could have been centered around them planning and having a Super Bowl party. It would have been a relatively cheap episode to produce.

I agree with FlimsyFlamsy--I bet she's miserable having the kids at home, making her pay attention to them without collecting a paycheck for it. In other words, it's summer they should be working and making me money and not sitting around enjoying their freedom. I hope the break from filming lasts a lonnngggg time. It's the kids' only opportunity to see how normal people spend their time.

I have a strong hunch what we see is what we get with Kate. There really isn't a whole lot of friends and family flowing through that house. I think the kids have friends but I don't know if her house is the go-to spot where they are hanging out.

She just said herself on one of her weekend rants last week she has few friends and family, that it's just a few trusted people.

We've seen it on the show too, just really not much of a social life or "group" she hangs with. It's sad, but I think she just doesn't like most people and prefers it this way. It's sad for the kids not to have more supportive positive adults around.

Layla said...

Admin,
She says she has a "few trusted friends and family", but we know that most of her friends are paid employees (and her former uber-fan, Brownie) and the crew is "family". She must be very lonely when her crew family and her paid friends aren't around. Her one real friend seems to be Jamie, and she lives in another state. Some social life. I remember the promo for the tups' birthday party said Kate has to call in friends to help. Who were those friends? Steve (security), Amber and Andrea (nannies/helpers) and Ronnie (hairdresser). All paid employees. Where were her girlfriends? How about the family she claims to be close to? Were they too busy playing "we're filming a TV show"? Sad.

I wonder if one who is only friends with people they are paying are using the situation as a crutch, or are somehow too insecure or afraid to have real friends.

It's great to be friends with people you are paying. An employer-employee friendship can be one of life's great joys. But one should have friends that were never there for your money, too, if only for your self esteem to know people just like you for you.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Jolie Jacquelyn (#82), how sickening that TFW, already aware of C's emotional and behavioral struggles, left him with a TOTAL STRANGER to act as his mother. Along with a strange ABC film crew (no TLC "crew daddies"). Deanna was there, but she was a newcomer in the Gosselin orbit. Certainly no substitute for a parent. The poor boy's father was gone, and then Mommy packed her bags to be some other little boy's mother?

I've said it before...those children were lab rats in a horrible public
experiment, and there will be negative effects that impact them the rest of their lives. Bet on it.

Formerly Duped said...

Maybe the reason Kate horns in on the kids' fun at parties, outings or even nights at home is because she has no friend to call her own. But didn't she state everyone who meets her, loves her? And that the kids' friends also find her funny and a cool mom?

Layla said...

Jolie Jacqueline (82)
Did you watch that? Kate's hypocrisy is mind-boggling. She walked into Kendra's kitchen and made a comment about "a little clutter", which was the tiny area where they charged their cell phones. Yet--look at Kate's kitchen! It's all clutter. Kate makes up some game to get Little Hank to pick up his toys, but when she wants her own kids to do something she nags or yells. She criticized Kendra for having help, but we know she has always had a revolving door or nannies, housekeepers, and assistants. Then after the show aired she made a comment about how amazing Little Hank was, and how she'd never met a little boy like that. I guess that includes her own three boys. And yes, she made her own kids do so much work it brought Kendra to tears. All I can say is, there is a reason why Little Hank is such a wonderful child, and it isn't because he is neglected by his mother (and kudos to Big Hank for jumping in during Kate's rant and saying that Kendra is very hands-on with Little Hank). That was just another fake "Kate-does-it-all" farce.

jolie Jacquelyn said...

Some of it Layla #82, I came across the show half way through. She was unbelievable wasn't she? The nerve of her criticizing their parenting!

In the scene at the end when they all gathered to give each other "advice", you could tell TFW was in tears trying to defend her rigid rules.

Poor kids, she really is a horrible mother!

Where is Golly Gee??

Former Lurker said...

As far as TFW's lack of friends, I've often thought that it's a shame she never forged any friendships through her kids. Most mothers I know have become friends with some of the mothers of their kids' friends over the years. If you're involved in planning any school events, you usually get to know other parents through that. Attending sporting events is a huge opportunity to get to know other parents. Sitting around for hours at long games, most of the parents chat up a storm.

While I had friends from college, grad school, work, and my first home/neighborhood before I became a parent, I've made some really wonderful friends through the kids. I have one friend I've known since our kids were three years old and we met at one of those toddler play group places. My husband and I are very good friends with a couple we met back when their daughter and our son were in kindergarten and they became friends (they're in high school now and are best friends). I've been active over the years in planning parties and events at school, and become friends with some of the other mothers that way. We started out meeting for coffee at someone's house or at Starbucks to plan things and ended up becoming friends and just meeting up socially for coffee or lunch. Also, over the years we've gotten to know other parents at kids' birthday parties and now many of us have been socializing as couples for years.

Even my parents have done this. They're great friends with the parents of my best friend from college, having gotten to know them while we were in college, but more so after we had homes of our own, and kids, and events and parties at our houses where both of our parents were there. Since we've been best friends for so many years and are essentially like sisters, our parents kind of consider each other family by now.

I'm sure a lot of the other parents here have similar experiences. Having kids is an opportunity to meet a lot of other parents and become friends with them. Unfortunately for TFW, I don't think she was ever that involved in school activities and I'm pretty sure she had a stick up her butt and was too snobby - because she thought she was a TV star (lol) - to really be friendly and get to know other people. It's her loss. She's going to be a very lonely old lady one day.

I’m very sad to report that one of the blog girls let me know that Golly Gee passed away several weeks ago. GG emails me from time to time with blog suggestions or just to say hi and had emailed me a few days before her passing letting me know she had severely injured her knee. But, she sounded so hopeful then because she said the pain had decreased dramatically in recent weeks so much so that she was able to spend Christmas with family. When I didn’t hear from her after that I was concerned as you were.

I don’t know exactly how she passed, if it was related to that injury or something else. But I will miss her optimism and fun perspective on this blog. We have become a community, and hearing one is gone forever means a tough day on this little porch. Hugs to all.

“He makes it seem like we’re being kept from him,” she said in the same interview. “Which is insane.”

With an attitude and emotional intelligence like that, we're not surprised to hear what an amazing young woman Mady has become! We can't wait to see what the next chapter of her life looks like!"

Reading about GG's health and financial challenges always made me remember to be grateful for what I have in this life.
I will always remember her for her optimism, kind heart and those shoeboxes which were such a passion of hers.
I remember being inspired here by GG several years ago, to donate as much as possible for the needy for Christmas/winter on a shoestring budget.
I waited for the perfect storm of coupons, early-bird deals and sales and dragged DH to JC Penny at 6am one year! That was the first year I challenged myself because of GG, and I've been doing it ever since.
This year, I hit the jackpot at Kohls with sales, extra bonus members' savings, bonus rewards cash and Kohls cash and was able to get a handful of winter coats, hats and gloves for next to nothing.
I thought of GG as I was doing it.

God bless you and keep you, GG, and may perpetual light shine upon you.

Really stupid. The writer (Carly Sitzer) appears to be a little behind on her Gosselin history and for a managing digital editor, not very good at her job either. Mady uttered that statement about her dad two years ago, obviously under Kate's coaching.

It was just more sheep fodder.

Lynne in RI, I'm wondering how long it took K8 to get that photo picked up. It was first on K8's IG 16 days ago---with the speed of today's gossip, surely no one is just picking up random pics on an otherwise pretty dead and dog-ridden IG feed and inventing this story two weeks later. I cannot believe this would have ended up in any tab without some sort of push from Mother Gosselin, especially not with the text that went with it. Did Kate Coyne turn it down first?

Looks like someone is trying to drum up some attention for the Gosselins, but they had to go back 2 years to find a somewhat interesting comment to print. And of course, they try to use the divorce (more than 8 years ago!) to get some attention. If they had to go that far back, then there is a serious lack of anything interesting to say about the Gs. Time to let them go already.

I am watching Say Yes To The Dress (my DIL and I got hooked during the months of wedding planning), and they are showing previews of shows starting at the end of February, Oddly enough, they are advertising a new season of Sister Wives. InTouch just did a story about that show being cancelled. There are a few more shows being promoted, but not a word about K+8. Looks like Kate will have to keep waiting for her return to the small screen. Or maybe TLC totally forgot to promote the show. Again.

Makes me go back to the notion that TLC was contractually obligated with Kate to film x amount of episodes. It would explain tapering the episodes off.
Also, again if I were TLC, I wouldn't formally announce another cancellation of Kate Plus 8.

Wow, after all this time, this is the most revealing Tony has been about dealing with Kate.
As we thought, she was a diva he had to babysit. She wasn't there to work or win or even learn to dance.
It was a way to keep her fame going, earn an enormous paycheck and get away from the kids.
I LOVE the diss he gives Kate and every reality "star".
No. By and large, they aren't talent and don't know hard work.

"In 2012, ‘DWTS’ was under the microscope after Tony Dovolani and his season 14 partner, Kate Gosselin didn’t exactly see eye to eye. Tony revealed what really went down!

Former Dancing With The Stars pro, Tony Dovolani, 44, once quit the show mid-competition and returned the same day after controversy with his partner, Kate Gosselin, 44. In 2012 — season 14 of DWTS — Tony had enough when he realized his partner “wasn’t there for the right reasons.” In an EXCLUSIVE interview for HollywoodLife.com’s podcast, Tony revealed what we didn’t see play out in the media during that tumultuous time. “For me, I love dancing. I love what dancing does for people. It’s a happy sport, it’s a wonderful life that it’s created for me, and I just felt at that moment that she had done the show for the wrong reasons,” Tony explained of Kate. “She didn’t realize where she was at… I hadn’t signed up for that.”

In 2012, ‘DWTS’ was under the microscope after Tony Dovolani and his season 14 partner, Kate Gosselin didn’t exactly see eye to eye.

The pro dancer, who was with the show for 22 seasons, admitted that things hit a level where he wasn’t just able to teach Kate. “When I decided to quit nothing major happened, it was just a build up of things where I just said that I didn’t sign up for this. — For babysitting, maybe, a little bit,” he said. “Some of these celebrities, or reality celebrities, I should say, they sometimes … they have an idea of what they think they are and who they are, and they didn’t realize that I wasn’t there to deal with them. I was there to teach them how to dance. So, when it becomes about other than teaching them how to dance, I want no part of it.”
“For me, it’s like when it comes to reality stars, I mean the word itself explains it. Reality star. Which means that you’re an interesting individual, character maybe … like the villain or somebody that you like. For me, I respect talent. I respect hard work.”
After Tony quit, he came back that same day and apologized to production. However, he was a pro who never complained, so producers were shocked to see him hit a point of [semi] no return. “It was one of these executive producer phone calls saying, ‘Please don’t leave. We’ll owe you. We’ll give you a better partner next year,'” he revealed."

So it looks like Tony D has quit DWTS. He said he doesn't want to "babysit reality stars anymore". That's probably why they dug up the Kate story. But--it definitely looks like "someone" is desperate for some attention. I think the fact that they have to dig back for years to find something interesting to print shows how boring she is now. Nothing she has done in the past few years is worth a mention. She's boring and--dare I say it--mediocre.

OUCH. What wrong reasons? Ego and money/fame I suppose.

GollyGee would have appreciated this comment from St. Tony! That one's for you, friend!

TFW is so far below mediocre it's not even funny.

@Layla Intouch is the same media outlet that i swear wrote an article about why they supported Kate after she announced Collin having issues.I can't find the article anymore(maybe they deleted it)but i swear on my life they wrote that.As for sister wives,i would find it very odd if they decided to continue to film Kate despite poor ratings but cancel sister wives for the exact same reason.I'd be convince that she'd have something over TLC.

And who can blame him. Pairing him with Kate was an insult.

If anyone wants to see true art, Google Elena Grinenko and Tony on YouTube dance the Rumba to Tayla Ferro's "Cuando calienta el sol". Absolutely beautiful performance.

Tony I think fell into the trap of a lot of people who are really, really good at their jobs. And that is that those people end up getting the tough assignments BECAUSE they're so good and so capable. But then, the tough assignments usually stink, require you to work harder and longer for the same result as the guy next to you, and it doesn't seem fair other dancers get the easiest pairings all the time and sail straight to the finals. Tough assignments can be flattering because it means the boss trusts you to get the job done, but for Tony I can see how it got old year after year.

I think he had a lot of energy for his first few tough pairings. He really brought out the best in some of his older partners. But after a string of people with no work ethic, he obviously got tired after awhile to the point where you just say I QUIT.

Oh I fully agree. He performed miracles with some of his partners. But he would have had an easier time training a capuchin monkey to dance in less time than it took Kate to count to four. The woman is impossible.
