TFW's burden is the unnecessary extra work and stress she puts herself and her children through.
When we've rented a home for a week's vacation and planned to cook some meals and eat some out, I didn't bring every single thing with me so that the frig was as stocked as if I was still at home. Nope, we cooked simpler meals and bought local fresh produce, seafood, etc. It's vacation for goodness sake, you're there to relax, not work. Unless you're TFW and need to maintain the martyr image. TFW? Good heavens, on one of the trips this season when she unloaded the coolers (I saw at least 3) and they were so full of small individual bags of greens I had to SMH.
And, the lists and notes she writes...
And the instructions she feels she must give to the kids... who have probably been hearing the exact same thing for years.
TFW's burden is TFW and IMO she's made herself a burden to her children, too.
So now TMZ is saying Debbie Reynolds has died. I can't even...

There are a total of 3 young couples with families who went in on this business. The buy-in was $350,000 split 3 ways which is a big risk for any family. The Busby's talked to a financial adviser who told them getting a home equity loan was a smart idea. I've been told and have heard many business advisers tell others to never borrow against your home to finance a business because if or when the business fails (50% of new businesses fail), you could lose your home along with the business. But, the Busby's think this is the way they're going to pay for their daughters' educations. And, the mom thinks she can be the hands on person for the business - in between taking care of 6 children, of course.
I noticed all of the quints dressed in matching outfits and I flashed back to the Gosselin's in their new matching outfits on every episode. I wondered if they're "working" the stores the way TFW did or if they're actually buying their children's clothes themselves. And then I snapped back into reality and realized they've been working social media for a very long time and they know the ins and outs of grifting and PR better than TFW did at this stage of the game.

She has a long history of creating a fantasy of how the kids are that has never born out on film. She's done it for years. These kids don't dote on her. They think she's a basket case. At this stage I'm surprised they don't make their own arrangements to go hang with friends most of the weekends and even weeknights. Maybe they are.
What is it about TLC and child predators? Toby Willis, Josh Duggar, Honey Boo Boo case. Add Bill B. to the list. Is it a coincidence? Or is it that TLC is the only place that will take these people and they know it? I refuse to believe TLC didn't know about Josh and Honey Boo Boo at least. Maybe other networks were approached but they ran checks and found this and didn't want to touch the families but TLC is known for being willing to get their hands dirty. Kate G is a child abuser and I'm sure TLC knew it from very early on. Makes me question every family that signs on with TLC. Are any of the others hiding horrific secrets as well? Are we going to read disgusting things about any others in the near future? Just some random thoughts.

I think people who have a need to be on TV and expose their privacy have a very good chance of being inherently unhealthy, "off" somehow. They may be deviant in other areas of their lives, including sexually. Often odd behavior in one aspect of life (and I do consider it ODD to want to expose yourself so much to the public) is an indication there is something off in other parts.

Oh Lord. Red flags all over that. Do they even have degrees? I thought their work experience was clerks at Target.
Even people who know exactly what they are doing have failed business ventures, let alone people who haven't the first clue what goes into running a business. This will take hard work and a lot of savvy, and it's unlikely with all these kids they really have the kind of manpower to devote to its success. Why do reality folks always want to take shortcuts? Why don't you go hit the pavement, get a steady job with benefits (government work is almost always a good bet), start college funds for the children and you'll be fine.
This sounds like franchising at a HUGE ticket price, which very often is quite frankly a scam for those who want to buy in.

So I looked Adam's occupation up on Linkedin and it says he is an Account Manager & Outside Salesman for an IT service. I think he works with his brothers or brothers-in-law (I remember something from the show that indicated that). The Linkedin site also says under "Education" & named his high school.
That's not to say that people with only HS diplomas can't run a successful business (they can!) but dang, they'll have their hands full trying to make it all work.

Outdaughtered - 1.165 million (up from the previous week of 1.114)
Even though Kate plus 8 had 90,000 more viewers than last week, over 500,000 viewers turned out after Outdaughtered aired.
It doesn't seem like they are even going to reach 1 million this season. You would think they would have reached it Tuesday, especially since it was shown during Christmas break.
Disappointed to see the ratings are up a little, but hopefully the content will discourage the viewers from watching future episodes.

Well, 652K is nothing to write home about, especially when that represents a loss of nearly 50% of the people who watched Outdaughtered. Bottom line, her show sucks and her ratings bear that out. I hope she'll put some of the blame of her "producer" self. I'm sure all these trips were her idea. TLC has to be cringing at these numbers.
Despite the low numbers, she's not going anywhere for awhile, unfortunately. She'll just continue to be used as cheap filler between the Duggars and whatnot. What else does TLC have, really. There are enough who still watch and the show can be produced cheaply in reality terms. People are mostly onto her schtick now and ignore her but still want to ogle the kids like zoo animals.
I think next week's will be a bit higher, with the teen base and focus and the hate watchers.
With a rating of 652,000 I'm wondering if that represents those who stayed with the show for the whole hour. I can understand people tuning in because they were curious but, after 10-15 minutes of screaming, etc., I think I might only last until the first commercial before looking for something along the lines of say entertainment. At what point in the hour is the "reading" taken; obviously I don't know how the caculating is done.

At least none of the episodes got to a million so far.Only 2 episodes left,its up the twins sweet 16 to get to 1 million but with some people saying how much they can't stand the twins,i doubt it unless they like them in a negative way.
Leaving aside the pathetic ratings, there is still the whole Collin issue and the fact that the kids in general are becoming more unlikable as the show goes on. Bottom line, TLC has lots of reasons to cancel and very few to keep making new episodes. They have plenty of old episodes to rerun those whenever there's a hole to fill.

Soul Cycle is just another workout fad (anyone remember aerobics and rowing class?) and it's been around long enough now that it's already losing steam.
Add to that, there is already a Soul Cycle "downtown" in whatever city they live in/near, and they want to bring one to the suburbs?
When the next new workout fad comes along, who do you think will go out of business first, city or suburb?

I don't know if it's MILLIONS, most people work for businesses, not run them, but yes there are plenty of people without degrees running businesses, few make anything but a livable wage, however when you are getting into a space as competitive and nuanced as the workout space, knowing what you are doing, either through college or experience, is essential.
There are red flags all over this. A fad business idea, an INCREDIBLE amount of initial investment, an overall sense of ignorance from this couple about this space, a willingness to take an equity loan when that's about the worst thing you could do, absolutely no experience or education that would translate to this space. It will fail.
I can say what I like about what they're doing. They put it on TV. Don't want me to say anything, don't splash your business ideas all over TV. It's as simple as that.

I've seen Jon post several pics with the kids where they are having fun on a lake (Nockamixon?), further, do people really think that the only way the kids would get to do any of these activities (fishing, water sports, bouncy places) is if and when Kate takes them (when they film)?

In Outdaughtered, I understand how some accuse Hazel’s parents of being mean in dressing her as a turtle.
I see it a little differently.
At Halloween we’ve seen children who are confined to a wheelchair and their parents decorate the chair as a race car of a fire truck or the like. That’s not mean - that’s making a cute adaptation.
In Hazel’s case, I believe this is what her parents were going for - an adaptation. Since Hazel wasn’t walking yet, they chose an animal that is a natural crawler and also possesses a big cuteness factor - a turtle. I don’t think the concept of ‘slowness’ crossed their minds.
I say this as an advocate for the disabled. I have a brother with multiple disabilities, and our sister is the CEO of the Arc here in the Twin Cities. If I had sensed that Hazel’s parents were disrespecting her, I would have jumped on them hard.
I may be wrong, but I’m going to give the Busbys the benefit of the doubt in this case.

I really don't see anything wrong with this. When we were growing up my parents called me Miss Mouse because I'm the short one in the family. It was a nickname, nothing more, nothing less and I never thought they were making fun of me. My brothers and sisters also called me "shorty" and that didn't bother me either because my parents always told me the best things come in small packages. BTW, I'm 4'11" so I'm not a little person just not quite as tall as others. I do hate to sit in a booth at a restaurant though because I always feel like I need a phone book to sit on.

I agree 100%. I think the December 27th show was the true test of Kate's ability to bring in numbers since Christmas was over and more people were still on vacation/able to stay up late. People might have tuned in out of curiosity and nostalgia. But now that they've seen the Gosselin train wreck in all it's glory, I doubt they will make the effort next week.

The ratings were 736,000 on Dec. 6 before the Christmas holidays. So Kate today is still 84,000 below that. So that is great. I think the Busby's carrying on and on about Hazel not being able to fully walk is ridiculous.The quints are individuals. They will all proceed throughout their lives at different paces. And the rental house was very nice but they probably only stayed there a few nights. And who knows TLC probably got that at a discount rental rate too. I looked at up. There are two Houston locations. One of them is in River Oaks. That is the most expensive, posh neighborhood in all of Houston. And the most recent one is on Woodway and Voss. It is $30 per session. WOW!
I see this is a fad too. Especially since all major workout places have spinning classes.

Did someone give the exact amount of money to her for the party that she had just donated to Habitat for Humanity (remember that touching parable from her early days?), or did she did dig it out of the couch cushions? This might sting for viewers who are bracing themselves for high credit cards bills after holiday spending. On what planet is she relatable to the average single mom?

In Hazel’s case, I believe this is what her parents were going for - an adaptation. Since Hazel wasn’t walking yet, they chose an animal that is a natural crawler and also possesses a big cuteness factor - a turtle. I don’t think the concept of ‘slowness’ crossed their minds.

It would be a lot better if they didn't intend to make fun of a child's special needs. Hopefully they didn't. A race car wheelchair empowers a kid and make him feel cool. But what if one outfitted a wheelchair to look likes a turtle?. I would think that's mean and potentially very offensive.
I still think the biggest problem with the ratings is the way the two lead in shows are blowing them out of the water. TLC can't just say oh it's a slow night. This is a clear tune out. What they do with that obvious information though who knows.

The Little Couple is supposedly filming right now, which could mean the litigation that was holding up so many shows is over. There are lots of new shows. TLC may not need her for filler.

Plenty of folks who bother to post on the KatePlus8 Facebook page swear they will never tune in again. There are so many other good programs to watch these days. If people are changing the station when she comes on even after a big lead in show, it must be apparent to TLC she no longer can attract that one million rating. Even if they still film in 2017, it will be the end. Nothing is worse than a tired show that will not disappear. At least the major networks know when to pull the plug.

I guess I'm one of the few who don't think it was mean, nor cruel, nor that the intent was to make fun of the child. It's a costume, and maybe the child's nickname is turtle. I really doubt that it's going to have any long-term psychological impact or stunt her emotional growth or self-esteem because she was wearing a turtle costume. That's really nitpicking and stretching it without knowing exactly why they chose that costume, or if the child was offended. I give them a pass on that. Kate, however, gets no pass on anything.

On the TLC website, K8 + 7 is still on at 10:02 (how odd) next Tuesday. They are starting reruns of her show (beginning with the NE trip from 2014) on the 13th, a Friday. In other words, another slot where few are likely to be watching.

With 4 other babies hitting their milestones, I think it's natural for parents to notice and be concerned when one is behind, but I agree that constantly talking about it is overkill (it could be production driven). 3 months behind her siblings in walking is kind of a big deal when you consider the fact that her eye problems may have contributed to the delay. It looked like the extra PT/OT help was necessary to get her on track. I think they did a good job in getting Hazel the help she needed but the constant talk about it was awful.
Sad but true (#104), I'd love to know how TFW differentiates between Lazy Holiday Days and Lazy Every Other Freaking Day. She's clearly trying to make it seem like this quiet dog bed moment is a rare treat: oh my, she never stops to take a breath! But we know her children are away at school for about 8 hours every weekday, 9 months out of the year. And we know she's sent dozens of tweets from her bedroom sanctuary with nary a kid in sight. Between that, the times she hops out of town for interviews, her parade of childcare helpers, and her monthly spa visits, she has more me time than any mother could wish for.

Jamie didn't know it is now perfectly cool to drag the dog beds from wherever they normally are into the LR to bask in front of the fire. She's used to the old rules. Although I doubt the rules have actually changed (the kids would NEVER be allowed to do this), there are just constant exceptions made to accommodate K8's whims and need for attention.
The link to the picture of Collin and his brothers didn't work for me. But I noticed some interesting things going on the IG last night.
I saw the fireplace picture and saw it had 2700 likes with about 36 comments. About 30 minutes later, A THOUSAND MORE LIKES and about 20 more comments. What a witch! Sitting there, spending money that could be donated to feeding hungry children at her local homeless shelter for children.

It occurred to me her comment about lounging around this week is rather insensitive to all the parents who have to work, who can't take time off during xmas week. As we've said before, school vacations and summer vacation often just make things harder for working parents, especially single parents, because now they have to figure out childcare, too. This is the week where 6 year olds are dragged into work with a coloring book because the baby-sitter is sick. This is the week where REAL single parents, and many other parents as well, have to power through despite exhaustion from the holidays and entertaining and credit card bills. By not working a real job, she is getting very out of touch with normal parents.

Her delays could be a sign of something very, very serious. She may not remember missing out on preschool like I don't remember what I had for breakfast a week ago, but it could have serious psychological consequences to be separated out from her siblings.
All that said, they should be having discussions about this with their pediatrician and perhaps getting referrals to specialists, not carrying on to the cameras about all this. Perhaps it's nothing, and it may very well be, but it's crucial to be concerned the second you notice delays like this so the child can be linked with early intervention services as soon as possible. It's just another reason it makes no sense to spend all their time making a TV show. They have things to deal with that need prompt attention.
I looked at Jon's IG and I counted his gigs. He has had around 10 to 11 since Nov. 11th. I think that is very good. He is busy and took time out to humbly thank his family and friends supporting him by taking a picture of his DJing equipment. Very nice. He seems happy.
He also has a picture of all of the babies in one hospital bassinet. You have to scroll down to see it.

Yes they were. If the average American family couldn't possibly afford it, it's luxury. There are different degrees of luxury of course. She kind of tends to sign up for a poor man's luxury vacation, but I suspect that's more because of TLC's budget than her choices. But when all is said and done those vacations were all in the many thousands of dollars. Too much for most people to do comfortably.
As far as Milo, I've had a long-standing theory that she is cat fishing as her sister and that the kids are her nieces and nephews, or possibly, neighbors. It explains why she doesn't act like someone who really has kids, yet why she is able to produce photos that seemingly prove she is around kids at least sometimes. It's common for families to open up old photo albums over the holidays. She could have snagged a photo of her sister's picture then.

As far as I can tell, Hazel is now 20 months old and still not walking. With her eye condition, she has balance and vision problems, plus she does seem quite a bit delayed in many other areas too. Maybe her vision problem is causing many of the delays though, poor baby.
Mady envisions herself as the family photographer and uses photo apps to doctor photos. This is typical of her to take a photo standing looking down on Kate as opposed to getting down to Kate's level. Mady is still an amateur and it shows. God forbid her mother would pay for her to take photography classes since she shows an interest. She probably uploads photos to Kate's Instagram too. Momma's Little Helper. I used to work as a newspaper photographer so I can tell it's her style for her age.

I don't know if the court would force her to get Aaden braces, but she could still be motivated by the court case. If someone involved has pointed out (or she's afraid someone will notice) that the girls got braces and the boys' need for braces is being neglected, she might be motivated to hurry up and get the boys braces. She wants to keep all the kids, if only so that she can sell them off for filming, so she can't be seen as being neglectful of any of them, even the icky boys. I bet it irks the heck out of her to have to spend money on the boys' needs.

It takes months of preparation before the braces are put in. Wisdom teeth removal, gum work, X-rays, on and on. It can take months before the braces are put on.
I doubt Kate did this as a safeguard to her custody.
I'm sure the kids are paying for it anyway.

The whole custody thing happened over a month ago in November anyway. That's plenty of time to prepare for braces.

I think J&K had a deal with Jon's father's former partner that there would be no charges other than whatever insurance paid. I think she mentioned it in Multiple Blessing. However, that was a pediatric dentist, not an orthodontist. I don't know about her insurance, but ours has a specific dollar amount for orthodontics for the family. I believe it covered 3 of my sons' braces, but we had to pay for the rest. If hers is similar, that would be a fortune spent on braces, especially since some of the kids had braces more than once. If her insurance covers all of it, then she has to be paying a fortune in premiums for that amount of coverage.
Just one paycheck for 1 episode of Kate Plus 8 would pay for all of their orthodontic work.
She has plenty of money to pay for it. Actually, her and Jon should split it. They are their parents for goodness sakes!
It should not come out of their trusts.
When Baby Jessica was rescued from the well, her very young parents took the money that was sent to them and put it in the bank for when she graduated high school or 18, can't remember.

Her parents, DIDN'T TOUCH IT! I even remember her dad's name, Chip. When she got it, it had grown to 800K.
She is married with 2 children and used some of the money to buy a house not far from her childhood home and is going to set up a college fund for her children.
As far as braces go, my son got his teeth late and therefore lost them late. Some of his permanent teeth didn't come in until he was 13 or 14 so he didn't get braces as young as some of his friends. It happens and the parent can't be faulted for not getting braces for all at the same age. Of course it is rather strange that ALL the boys are the last to get braces.
My daughter was ready for braces when she was 12 and had them for 2 1/2 years. My son, however, wasn't ready until he was 13 1/2. Our orthodontist wanted his 12-year molars to break through before she started and that didn't occur until he was 13 1/2. She said that it's typical that boys get braces later than girls because their teeth don't come in as quickly.
Alexis hasn't had braces yet either. I personally just think the boys' teeth development is later than the girls. They might even still have baby teeth to be honest.

All girls. She even has the money to pay the insurance premiums for the orthodontic work. The kids should not have to pay for it out of their money.

Her teeth were pushed out from being a thumb sucker but she didn't need anything but the braces. One visit at her regular dentist, he wrote the referral. Went to the ortho for the consult (free), set up the appt for the next week and bam, on they went. No fuss, no muss. So for about $50,000 she can have all 8 of them with beautiful straight teeth. She can afford it. She sure as heck paid to have her OWN teeth capped and looking like chicklets.

Wisdom teeth are rarely pulled in adolescence, I've never heard of it before braces. They're not grown in enough to affect anything. That's why they're generally pulled in late teens , even early adulthood.

All of my kids, as teens, had their wisdom teeth removed prior to getting braces. It took months before the braces were put in. Referrals, appts-- go to this dr, do a consult, come back a week or 2 later for a treatment plan- then make an appt for wisdom teeth removal, then wait 3 more weeks to heal. Then back to the ortho for a second consult. Then make another appt. the first appt, they put in spacers, go back in 10 days for upper or lower braces, whichever was needed first. All told, from first appt to actually getting braces might be 8-10 weeks.
All of my kids had braces, it was anywhere from 5-8K each.

We drove around tonight looking at Christmas lights. Mostly in Wyomissing but we made it more than half way to Kate's so we could see the house that was on the Light Fight on ABC. Surprisingly, quite a few places still have patches of snow. There were some bad accidents on Thurs morning like in Oley Township. However, it's unlikely Kate was up early enough to see the snow. And of course the picture is "Tell me I'm pretty."

Over here it's standard that wisdom teeth are pulled before braces can be put in place. Even if wisdom teeth haven't grown yet, they are extracted. The reasoning behind it is that when wisdom teeth will come in, they will push the teeth around and ruin the teeth all over again and then the braces were for nothing.

Seems more efficient to me. Why not get them out of the way early on rather than risk undoing the braces results? Wisdom teeth hurt like Hell coming in and afterwards they have to pull them out anyways so it's not like you're saving the kids great pain by not doing the extractions. The procedure doesn't take long at all anyways and as a bonus, you avoid the potential complications from later on, like impaction. I don't know, it seems better this way, to me at least.
I had braces (YEARS ago) and didn't have my wisdom teeth pulled out. My kid had them within the last few years and didn't have wisdom teeth pulled out. That's considered surgery because they are still below the gums. The dentist did pull out permanent molars but it was done in the dentist office.
I'm not saying Aiden's braces were definitely court ordered... just a possibility.
My kids all had their wisdom teeth taken out before getting braces. Some had impacted wisdom teeth, just like I did, and those would really mess up your teeth if you had already had braces. Plus, since they don't break through the gums, you don't know the damage they are causing until it's noticeable.
Braces are put on for different reasons, different ages. That's why there are different stories here about the braces experience their child had. Mouths are different.
I had two kids in braces, totally different for both. My son had a palatal expander before his braces went on, and had two eye teeth pulled prior to braces. Daughter had something cemented to the inside of her front teeth because one was twisting. My kids had braces put on around 13 or 14 years of age.
I was surprised at the young age some of the girls had braces put on then they came off then appeared on again. I think like someone above said there was a "ka=ching" factor.
I forgot to ask what court cases did Jon win and when? Is there documentation discussing that? As in documentation, I suppose I mean gossip magazine articles. I never head that Jon went to court and won anything.

We don't actually know what came out of that court case. Yesterday a non-fan posted Jon's petition to the court on K8's Twitter. I had forgotten how damning this document is. Many of the alienating things she has done/is doing were spelled out in there. That document proposed clear visitation, which we know has not been followed by K8 at all. In addition, it talks about the moldy lunches, the outside locks on bedroom doors (was this to keep the kids from walking in on her and Steve?), the constant interruption of visitation by phone calls to/from Kate by the twins, etc. This is October 2010. Again, we don't know where the judge came down, but what was proposed by Jon, especially in term of visitation, seemed very reasonable from every angle.
Anyone who doubts that K8 has used some very vicious tactics in trying to alienate the kids from Jon should read this document. The link was posted earlier on K8's Twitter by Margaret Meade (a very frequent poster, LOL), I can't get it to work now (it worked earlier), or I would post it. And I'm sure it's in the archives here.

And Kate thinks it's OK! That's what's so exasperating. She thinks it's perfectly normal to instill her own sick paranoia on her kids. That she evesdrops and requires detailed debriefings is a sign of her mental illness and iron-fist control over Jon and the kids.

Actually if you remove molars it also makes room for the wisdom teeth later on when they come in. I have my wisdom teeth and no issues with them.

Braces before wisdom teeth pulled, in my kids' case. If you don't eventually get wisdom teeth pulled as a young adult, teeth will move and all that time in braces will be for nothing. I made sure they got their wisdom teeth pulled the summer before freshman college.
