Discussion Thread: Kate Plus 8 'School Prep'

Kate Plus 8

School Prep10:00 PM on TLC, 1 hr 2016 TV-PG
The end of summer means it's time for the kids to go back to school, so Kate takes them shopping for clothes and supplies, and they all work together on one more seasonal project.

I didn't see the show but, from the clips I've seen and the comments about Hannah having "another one of her stress headaches", coupled with Mady's bad behavior (and without even getting into Collin's problem, whatever that might be) it seems to me that now might be a good time for Jon to again bring to the authorities' attention the damage that filming continues to do to these children.

bm
*********
Joel (I think) was ill and had to go along shopping. Kids puking on boat, and never given medication to stop motion sickness when their mother knows damn well they get it, Hannah suffering with a bad headache and has to film and Cara saying she doesn't want crew in her room, yet there they are in her room, as well as the little girls' room while they're packing and changing outfits in the bathroom.
I'd say someone should sit up and pay attention.

Khloe Kardashian did an interview with Howard Stern today and said when they're "in season" they film 12-16 hours a day.

Ok if the viewers are decent then why are some people on both here and twitter keep saying that milo and deena are desperate for views?People keep saying they're going to tune out but from the views,it seems more people are tuning in.So why are people saying some are panicing about Kate not being on?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The show was on at 10pm on the east coast, was it not (here on the west coast it was on much earlier)? Kate said they were up at 5am for school the next day, did she not?

So if Mady went to bed the second the show was over at 11pm, she only got 6 hours of sleep that night. Not even close to what a normal teenager needs. Great parenting there.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It just angers me how every person who spoke out family or friend have failed to do anything

^^^^

Did they fail to do anything, or did what they try fail? We just don't know all of what has been done, but we do know some of it.

Quite honestly, if the shoe were on the other foot and it was Jon who wanted to film his kids and Kate against it, I doubt she could stop it either. That's just how it is. This is not LA where judges are much more familiar with custody battles involving filming and seem to be much more willing, sometimes, to stick their necks out and stop it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

So why are people saying some are panicing about Kate not being on?

&&&&

Because I'm sure they are. Even a cool million isn't enough to promise any return. It gives them a good chance, but it's no shoe in. I'd be pounding the pavement too, although not in that way. I just don't think Twitter plays the least bit role in it. But the higher ratings the better. And don't forget a couple episodes did really poorly. I'd put money on it Kate is worried about their inconsistent ratings and the couple poor showings, and is sweating bullets right now. If the show were going to be back they would say so. It's up in the air. It wasn't until word got out Mady had developed into a real pill did ratings see a small spike.

NJGal51 said...

I think that TFW is probably worried because she knows that the bump in ratings is because she's got a strong lead in with the Little Couple but people are still tuning out when her show comes on.

I watched the part of the episode where they were refinishing the picnic table. Kate, as usual, was making a big deal about using a power sander acting afraid of using it.

There was one part that actually did make me laugh out loud, not because it was funny but because it showed Kate's stupidity.

They were applying the stain to the legs and bottom of the table and benches, and they're all crouched down on their hands and knees and crowded together underneath the table while they were applying the stain.

Did it ever occur to Kate that it just might be a tad easier if they flipped over the table to make the legs and underside more accessible, and then when that dried to flip it back over to do the tops of the benches and table?

She said she did research on how to refinish the table and what supplies she needed. Apparently she skipped over the part that says to invert the table to make access to the legs and underside easier.

What a doofus!!

jolie Jacquelyn said...

How long does a viewer have to tune into a show for it to count in the ratings? If someone watches for a few minutes, then switches channels, does it still count?

I did watch for awhile, & couldn't get over how Colin is really zonked out for the most part, although he perked up slightly when he was sanding the table. Speaking of which, why didn't they turn the table upside down to paint the underside instead of crawling around underneath & getting in each other's way? I've always found it to be easier that way when I've painted such things as tables.

An excellent point about Dear Kimmie being at the SOTU last night:

So, we should actually be thankful to Kim Davis for attending the State of the Union. She was yet another indicator that those who, as the president said last night, "scapegoat fellow citizens," are gathering their forces, telling Americans to "respond to the changes of our time with fear" and to "fear the future." Much of the president's speech was about the forces of abject bigotry on the current political stage and how we can't underestimate them. Kim Davis's presence in the chamber served to underscore his warning.

In biology, it would be like cleaning symbiosis among species, with each one benefiting in some way. In this strange relationship, Milo performs the cleaning ritual by taking care of Kate's messes, along with damage control, and Kate benefits by coming off as the perfect parent who does everything for her kids. What does Milo get out of it? Attention from her love interest, envy from fans who believe the two have a personal relationship, and enjoying just being a martyr for Kate as she endures the pokes and jabs from the nonfans.

FYI said...

Even though her ratings have been going up, they're still lower than the ratings of the shows that aired last January. Of those six shows, the highest rating(the premiere) was 1.795 million and lowest rating was 1.321 million.

So although the interest is still there, it's not as high as it was just a year ago.

I see what you mean,thanks admin for explaining .I also do agree with you NJGal51.As soon as the little couple came back and she moved to 10,it did boost her views.I do hope those people are now having doubts about watching since many on facebook claimed to stop tuning in because of Mady's attitude and some even call Kate out and blame her poor parenting.Come to think of it.The negative comments on facebook are probably the reason Kate denying that facebook page exists.

Formerly Duped said...

I thought Mady was incredibly rude and ungrateful, Cara slightly less so. What has happened to Cara!
Collin looked very detached, possibly because he is going to a new school/tutor? The little girls have learned to argue and whine to get things. Only Joel and Aaden seemd like average kids. Kate continues to want to be cool like her teen daughters and acts silly over using power tools and completing normal tasks. Always drama, strange gestures, faces and squawks, and the kids have it right. 'It's all about Mommy."

At approximately 2:00, you can see Hannah looking miserable, and Kate explaining about her "stress headaches".

Kate says "It looks horrendous that we're carting our sick child to the mall, but she's not sick, she just needs about 2 hours to recover. So we just all...It's a Hannah thing".

So why didn't they wait 2 hours until Hannah felt better? Oh, I forgot they're on a filming schedule that can't be delayed.

I wonder if Kate gave Hannah a lecture about willing it away, and how it's just mind over matter.

Shame on You Lane Furniture!

"There's no where to sit in this house" screams Jon and Kate Gosselin. Well, we knew it was coming, it was just a matter of time and of who was going to contribute to the exploitation.

Hundreds of employees have been laid off from Lane but they decide to donate thousands and thousands of dollars worth of furniture to America's most UN-DESERVING couple. What are they thinking? Lane Furniture couldn't find more deserving families?

The Gosselin family moves into a 1.3 million dollar house without the luxury of using the equity of their old house and have traveled more in one year than more families travel in 10 years. They have had 5 star vacations to Maui, North Carolina, Utah, San Diego, DisneyWorld and many local parks and attractions. What makes this family so special and so deserving?

Teens now are all over the place in terms of how much they need and how much they get. They may have projects that take some, or go to a concert or special event. Some nights it may be eight or nine hours, others as little as five or six. If less sleep time happens on a regular basis, I'd worry about it. Once or twice, not so much.

I just thought it was funny when Kate tweeted that Mady has homework and needs to go to bed, and then suddenly she finished her homework and could tweet. I guess the sleep time at that point didn't matter.

I don't know about concerts, but losing sleep because of a school project or other school related thing is one thing. Losing sleep because your mother has you tweeting to a bunch of mostly creepy strangers about your show, is completely unacceptable as an excuse to miss out on sleep. There is no sleep study out there that says 6 hours is adequate for teens. In that phase of development, they need almost as much as toddlers. Most teens are not going to function at a good and productive level on only six hours. In fact, many adults wouldn't be able to either.

I think that is really well stated. However there was another part of his speech in which he said the following: "That’s why we need to reject any politics that targets people because of race or religion. This isn’t a matter of political correctness. It’s a matter of understanding what makes us strong. The world respects us not just for our arsenal; it respects us for our diversity and our openness and the way we respect every faith."

All I could think of is someone like Kim Davis would think that HER faith was not respected. How does someone like Kim reconcile a comment like that? Because to her this is all about her faith and beliefs being usurped by political correctness. Actually, I really couldn't believe Obama said that, because if that's what he believes then why is Kim Davis not allowed to refuse service to gay people? It is after all her faith being disregarded in the name of political correctness. I wish he would have added some sort of qualifier to that, like any religion or choices of someone religious should be respected as long as it does not seek to harm or discriminate against others. That's what *I* believe. I have no problem with your faith until you use it to hurt others even if it's just hurt them emotionally--which she did. F her.

I really detest Kim Davis. The way she sat there so smugly, not clapping at anything, not smiling. Like a silent martyr for the cause. She needs to stop it and get back to work.

I don't think I'm being very clear. Whatever, whatever, Mady stayed up way too late the other night. It happens to all teens sometimes. But the fact that Kate had her up doing the work of tweeting their fans I find despicable. It makes no difference to me even if Mady wanted to. Maybe that doesn't strike others as that big of a deal, oh well. I think it's completely inappropriate. It's not her job, it's not her burden, and it certainly should never cause her to not get proper rest for her REAL job, her education. Not even once. Frankly I don't think she should be having any interactions with fans at all. A child that young is not emotionally ready for dealing with social media fans. Kate barely manages at age 40.

It's another matter if Mady is not getting enough sleep for other reasons, and that's between her, her mother and father.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think Hannah has the headaches due to the stress of her mentally ill mother, the filming, the chaos. Do you think it is possible that her mother convinced her that it was her long hair causing the headaches when it could actually be the stress of filming and the chaos?
This would not surprise me in the least bit because TFW is a fantastic manipulator and deceiver. If it were out that she is having headaches because of filming, all heck would break loose.
TFW's day is coming. She forces those kids to film when they are sick and in the past they have been sick and hurt and she would have someone take them to the dr. so she could stay and get filmed. She even got a neighbor to come over to evaluate Leah's gash in her head to see if the neighbor thought she needed stitches!!! KATE IS A FREAKING RN!
Did this neighbor have a medical degree, a nursing degree, what pray tell did they have??
When they were filming at the skate park? and a boy fell and hurt his ankle and she and the crew daddies tried to film it and they said NO and some kids tweeted how awful she was. She would do or say anything to make sure the camera never stops rolling.
I am not surprised her ratings bumped up. I believe the curious decided to see for themselves the onerous Mady behavior. TLC, in giving her the lead-in of Little Couple, is bound and determine to keep Kate afloat. We need to accept that there will be more episodes in the future. A solid one million is all it takes for TLC these days. Not a thing we can do except avoid TLC. I do not see them changing course with reality programming because if the Duggar scandal didn't do it, I don't know what will. It's an interesting phenomenon, this train wreck of a family. And TLC knows it. I hope the corporation gets the pants sued off them 10 years down the road.
I don't know the nature of the headaches, but when I think about recovering from headaches, I think about migraines.
When I suffered from them, the headache would peak and the pain was excruciating. It would make me vomit, at which point the headache would 'release' and begin to wane.
At that point, I would be like a limp washcloth, absolutely exhausted and spent.
I wouldn't be able to function and it would have been horrible to be forced to exert.
With the studio lights in her basement, her facial features are much more apparent.
I think perhaps Kate tweaks her hair and face on an ongoing basis, thus the differences in her hair length and thickness, facial smoothness/wrinkles/lines and puffiness/lumps over the couple months they filmed.
From one appearance or episode to another, the way she looks can change quite a bit, and it's been that way for years now.
Hmm...Gladys spins this, too.
It's so ridiculous, you couldn't make it up.
The bottom line for me is that I don't give a hoot when those kids go to bed, it's that Kate is using Mady (the newly-anointed lightning rod) for ratings.
It's like you can see the gears turning in Kate's head. Hmm...maybe I should trot out my increasingly maligned teenage daughter to drum up more interest and viewers!
I thought it was a nurse in a pediatrician's office, or someone with medical experience.
But, but, but, TFW is a RN! Why did she have to go to a neighbor for medical advice to see if Leah needed stitches for a GASH in her head?
I am surprised that TFW isn't getting credit for the on-set-nurse of each episode.
Hey, FW, your slipping.
First, it's an incredibly stupid explanation for Hannah's headaches that it was caused by her heavy hair when she was little. WTH. I feel for Hannah not only having to deal with migraines, which will probably get worse as she ages, and her insensitive idiot of a mother.
I don't know if Mady was actually commenting on Tweeter or through her mother, but the fact that it was requested and Kate went for it proves to me Kate is all about promoting Mady.
TLC/Figure 8 has succeeded in hiding Steve. He's there; Kate would demand it. They have decided to make him invisible so she can play the dating/divorcee card. Or Radar was telling the truth TLC paid off a pap who took incriminating photos in Mexico and they decided he needed to vanish on camera. If proof ever came out, she could not weather the backlash and TLC would lose a loyal income producer. They have stood by Kate for many years. Think about how they went after Jon.
I may be wrong but I thought Kate was the one who said her thick hair caused headaches- not sure why now it doesn't! Hannah had thin hair when she was little so I doubt that was the cause anyhow. Her hair is long again but her hair is thick. I'm pretty sure in one of TFW's books she stated the headaches were migraines & were from too little sleep. Partly why Alexis was in the basement was that she interfering with the others' sleep, idk.
You know what strong impression I got from watching "this season" of Kate Plus 8. I don't think Steve is there during filming. TLC probably said no way. And all the filming was local anyway besides the NY date. The kids are 11 and 14 and do not need security. He is probably off doing other jobs. Did anybody else get this impression?
He's still around. He was there when they went shopping. You can see him in this picture walking with Kate and the kids in the mall parking lot.
#65 Kate Is A Twit: The twitter photo shows Kate in a totally different outfit than what she was wearing in the past shopping episode. I clearly remember she had on red shorts...that were too short for a 40 year old woman. And you posted the same link twice. Thanks for posting them but could you post the one from Fla. I would like to look at it.
Steve very well may have been there this summer but if he was TLC has to be crazy to be paying for that. Who is going to kidnap 11 year olds and 15 year olds. And we know the paps are no where to be seen now a days. And I doubt people are approaching her nowadays while she is filming. So clearly there is zero reason for him to be there.
In fact, I think Kate lied (again) that Deanna just HAPPENED to be in town for a few days for this shopping excursion. I thought it was ridiculous that the 15 old twins were not allowed to shop on their own downstairs while she shopped with the tups upstairs. Yes, Kate may have needed to pay but couldn't she have done this on their way out. Why did they need Deanna to babysit them?
I'm a little puzzled by that too.
Kate went from tweeting about Mady having 'tons' of homework and the need for sleep to oh look, here she is. Clearly the show that is their life took the priority. Her kids are important to her only FOR the show. Homework and sleep be damned, headaches and stomach aches be damned, behavioral problems be damned. Her own marriage be damned. Kate will have her show come hell or high water.
Parents usually make sacrifices for their kids but with Kate it's the other way around.
Did it ever occur to Kate that it just might be a tad easier if they flipped over the table to make the legs and underside more accessible, and then when that dried to flip it back over to do the tops of the benches and table?
She said she did research on how to refinish the table and what supplies she needed. Apparently she skipped over the part that says to invert the table to make access to the legs and underside easier.
*******
She's a fool and one of the most impractical and wasteful people I've ever seen. She consciously makes things harder than they need to be and she makes work. She also loves to spend TLC's money on totally unnecessary things.
On the episode where Mady painted her 2 bedside tables, TFW bought new cloth tarps which they carefully laid on the grass before they started - because how dare the grass get paint on it, right? Then, to stain the picnic table TFW bought 2 more tarps, this time the blue variety, and put the picnic table on them - because how dare the grass get stain on it, right? She even "oh, dear'ed" when she spilled some stain on the tarp and worried it might get on her precious green grass.
Am I so mediocre that I don't care that my grass (which grows and the tops of the blades of grass get cut off when mowing) gets paint or stain on it? Is she so naive (or stupid) that she thinks she's ruining (her favorite word) the grass if paint is spilled? I also wear old clothes when I do home improvement projects, but not TFW. The kids all wore brand new white t-shirts. Of course they were included in the production budget for the show and TFW didn't pay for them, but again, what an impractical clothing choice and what a waste of money.
As far as I can tell, the PA child law is worthless because Kate skirts around it.
((((((((((
It's not worthless. Rep Murt fought long and hard for it. That said, some of it still appears to be somewhat muddled and subject to different interpretations. Can an ill child be dragged out for filming? Does having a headache mean that the child cannot be filmed? Is tweeting considered employment?
I'd be concerned that if all aspects of the child labor law were followed during this recent filming in PA. Since this was done on vacation time and not during school hours, was there a set teacher in place? Was one required to be on the set at all times to look out for the welfare of these kids? If so, did that person give consent to allow Hannah to be filmed? I wonder if anyone has contacted the PA Department of Labor to find out if Kate did skirt around this and if all rules were followed. There is a form on their page to file a complaint if there are concerns if the law isn't being followed.
Is tweeting considered "working by a minor?" I don't know, but I can't see that this would be a violation of the child labor law unless TLC required it which I don't think that this is the case. Kate is not the employer. If it is "working," and if she was tweeting, then as a 15-year old, she was in violation of the law:
"Work Time – employment between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. during school term; during school vacations, minors may work until 9 p.m."
I would think, though, that Kate would have a good argument that Mady wasn't working.
Here's another thing. Was there alcohol at the deck party? If so...
"Minors are prohibited from working in establishments where alcoholic beverages are produced, sold, or dispensed."
What is meant by dispensing? If it is being served where minors are being filmed, it this a policy violation? I do know for a fact that there was a big concern when the kids were filmed at restaurants that sold alcohol. There was a violation of this policy, and it seems like they still may continue to do so. Not to open a can of worms, but if there are any questions about labor law violations (seen in the filming) perhaps it should be reported. The entire set of laws is found online as well as a complaint form.
Here is a good summary of the laws:
If I recall, HANNAH asked for a short haircut and KATE didn't want it cut. She told Hannah it would take a very, very long time to grow back. But, it did get cut to shoulder length. Kate was devastated.
Also, I remember Kate said each tup girl had a different length of hair so she "didn't have to look"
to see which girl was trying to talk to her. And sure enough, one toddler girl walked up to her in the kitchen and chattered to Kate. Mommy of the year never took her eyes off what she was doing and just reached down to feel the head for a second. No interaction beyond that.
Think she'd still have them all with her if some production company hadn't taken an interest in the family? I don't. Relationships don't mean anything to her unless it brings her something in return. Tucker's Mom (#107), yes, heaven knows what spin
TFW will put on this date. But it's a pretty safe
bet that she'll throw her ex under the bus. Here
are the spin possibilities:
The kids are constantly begging her to date.
She's lonely because it's only her, her, her.
She needs help policing the kids -- did you
know she has 8?
She is with her kids 24/7, and misses adult
interaction.
The kids say she deserves to finally have some fun, after devoting 110% of her life to their well being.
What she won't say is that she has such a wonderful life that she'd love to share her joy and blessings with someone. She won't say that she misses being in love, because I'm not even sure she's capable.
None of this is about love or romance. She said it herself: she wants a policeman to keep her kids in line.
Leslie said...
I watched the just the very end of the above link to view Kate's promo for her dating. Why in the heck is Kate saying,"If you are willing to take on eight kids, you have to be pretty darn tough" during the dinner of her blind date. I bet she has known this guy for less than an hour. His face said it all. She is having a blind date with the guy, that is it. So why bring up that stupid statement. She has no sense at all. The guy did not sign up (literally--ha,ha) for TAKING ON eight kids; he merely signed up for a blind date. She is freaking unbelievable!
If this guy had any interest in her, I guarantee you that would make him run as fast as he could away from her.
After the airing of the episode,I wonder if she will lie and lead her twitter followers on with whether or not she had a second date or is still dating this guy. I think if she did, it would have hit the news by now. And how embarrassing, I mean she clearly said that she had interest in him and thought he was cute.
I can't imagine being him & having a camera and a boom mic literally in my face as I was eating and conversing on a blind date. And was the producer there too? That in itself would be highly uncomfortable and inhibiting even for the most outgoing and easy-going man. And then to also have them in the helicopter with them would again be so over the top creepy and unreal.
After re-looking at the video of the episode, I noticed that Steve is actually shown in the episode, but very quickly. You can see him at the very beginning, right after they show the kids going up the escalator and just before Kate says "keep going".
That same segment is in the episode at 8:03, but it looks like the blurred his face.
Why in the world would they need to blur his face?? Is the fact that he's her bodyguard/road manager/gigolo a state secret now?
I can't imagine being him & having a camera and a boom mic literally in my face as I was eating and conversing on a blind date. And was the producer there too? That in itself would be highly uncomfortable and inhibiting even for the most outgoing and easy-going man.
If he were a paid actor called in at the last minute to sub for the Jeff guy then he's had cameras and mics on the set before.
It depends on the height of the child. If they are on the short side and want to see out the side window or the front, especially if head rests are blocking their view, then boosters are the way to go.
-------------------------
In British Columbia, booster seats are legally required required unless you are 10 years old or older or 4'9" or taller. They encourage you to use them until you meet the height requirement, even if you meet the age one.
In Ontario, they aren't required if you're age 8, weigh 80 lb, or are 4'9" tall.
So the age requirements are quite different, but the height is the same. I think the height requirement is the most valid one: a shoulder belt doesn't fit properly if you are too short.
I have no idea how tall the G kids are, but I wouldn't criticize Kate for using one, even if it isn't required by law. It's safety, not infantilization.
This is not meant to be snark, I'm serious about this. There are too many things she needs from a man such that I don't think he exists.
You need someone okay with eight teen and almost teen kids, plus ex problems.
You need someone okay with filming and that lifestyle including putting up with Steve.
You need someone that actually likes Kate's personality.
You need someone who doesn't want any bio kids of their own with their new wife.
She's not going to find that person. It's too much. Had she met Jon for the first time today he never would date her.
NJGal51 said...
To finish my comment above, if she is using greasepaint on TFW she's not using a thin coating nor is she rubbing it in well enough or powdering it down. Wait a cotton picken' minute! She's not REALLY dating. This is made up stuff. What she spouts on a date is purely for the camera. She does not care anything about this man or any future man she dates as long as it is on camera. Anything she says on camera is to enhance and build her up. Jeff Millionaire got it and walked away. I think she seduced him with the promise of a relationship, and I think the guy really liked her (why, oh why?) but it was all about the tv show. Just started watching the School Prep episode (thanks for the link). Right off the bat I noticed how zoned out Collin is.
Interesting to note the picnic table was done during summer (it was obviously hot that day) and the deck was not there yet. I thought the deck was a summer project? It was done in the fall after school started. Kate let it slip in her blog post that the kids came home from school and watched the workers.
The shopping trip to the dept. store with everyone was a disaster. All I heard was "I want".
And then there was the mommy, Mady and Cara shopping at Eaves. OMG. The money that was spent there! What do you think? $1500? $2000?
Then they went to two more boutiques and there was no way they would not leave with bags from there too...so maybe $3000 total? All I know that boutique shops are crazy expensive. The second store did not interest the girls but by golly, gotta spend that free shopping money.
I have done make-up for pageant contestants, both stage and television. I have no idea what in the world this Deanna person is doing to Kate's face, but if Kate continues to be filmed, she really does need to find someone competent enough to do the makeup.
There are techniques to use for both theater and film, and it doesn't appear that Deanna has quite gotten the hang of it. I made my share of mistakes and it takes practice and the advice and guidance of professionals to get it right. Not everyone's skin is the same. Not everyone's skin tone shows up the same where lighting maybe different. Kate looks like she should be in Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, which is a shame because she would look so much younger and so much more attractive if the right person did her make-up. Less is more.
Then the cat would be out of the bag. And all parties above know Kate's fans and haters are going to search out who this guy is.
But on the slight chance that he is, I just think having the cameras and mic in his face on private date would still be uncomfortable for him. Actors read lines and rehearse scenes. And there was none of that. I thought it was mortifying when he told Kate she looked young. Yep, he has her number alright.
Why the heck was Andrea helping with the staining? She did NOT seem to be enjoying it.
The sanders, sanding blocks, tarp, stain, brushes, rags, face masks (ridiculous, they were outside), cost more than the table is worth. Why did she use a paint rolling tray for the stain if she wasn't going to roll the stain on? What a mess she made. How could a 40 year old woman have never stained a piece of wood before????
FYI, you don't pick a sweltering summer day to stain because the stain will dry quickly so you have to wipe quickly. And I hope she used an outdoor stain but I suppose the hardware store guided her right and gladly accepted her TLC gift card. Geez. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for show ideas. Leslie, you could be correct. There are plenty of people out there who just want there 15 seconds of fame, or the guy wants to break into reality TV. The fact that he was dug up after Jeff bailed (smart) sends the message this "date" was faked to fulfill production. I am sure had masterminded a grand scenario with Jeff such as introducing him to the kids, etc, and TLC was entirely onboard. So now TLC is probably er-evaluating how much more they want to spend on Gosselin because she certainly is pocketing more than a salary with all the trips, shopping, and home renovations. They have to ask: is she worth it? Think of what she may be demanding in regards to a Sweet 16 episode?
That will happen faster than Kate can say, "Whoa, what? Wait! Mady's done her homework!! Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Mady!"
Mady and Cara are way too immature to be driving and Jon needs to put a stop to that if that is what is planned. They could hurt themselves or someone else. We know it's bad enough with teens even if they are mature enough to handle the responsibility. The twins admitted they don't know much about fashion, having been in uniforms and having been dressed by Kate all their lives. Mady said, "It's not on sale and I want it" very firmly. They need a clothing allowance and be shown how to budget.I'm not sure Deanna is such a good role model in this area, not to be mean. Does it seem like Kate scrimps a bit on the tups clothes? Clearance etc ? I know they are growing and changing sizes, but the stuff they wear seems a little flimsy.They do need good items for dress down days and other activities on top of uniforms.
FlimsyFlamsy said...
TLC stinks (#177), I believe TFW might go through the pretense -- if it'll help squeeze out another episode -- of getting the girls licenses and cars (on TLC's dime), but then not allow them the actual driving privilege until they're 18.
I, too, hope Jon would intervene if the kids
are not mature enough to drive, which seems to
be the case.
But TFW may be a little excited at the idea of having 2 more drivers to do errands for her.
Surely she'd wind up paying/bribing them to do
the errands, but I think her laziness trumps everything.
Why a boutique for young teens? That just reeks of entitlement, and yet the sheeple can't see that this poor, struggling mom of eight who is piecing and patching with no help from her ex from hell can afford to take her kids to shop in those places. It's insane. They were at the mall. There are plenty of stores there marketed for teens and there is no reason that they couldn't have filmed at those places. Then people wonder why these kids appear to be so snotty and want, want, want. Kate is an enabler.
I can tell you that not too many of their peers shop in high-end boutiques, but opt to shop at local places in the mall, and even have fun finding good deals on brand names at thrift shops.
I have never known two 15 year old girls who did not have a knowledge of fashion, uniforms or not. Mady knew exactly what she wanted for shoes and has an opinion on clothes, so I don't understand how the girls are naive when it comes to shopping. Their couch interview made no sense.
And at one of the boutiques, Mady clearly said she had plenty of jeans and did not need any, but the next thing you see is her modeling some jeans. And Cara might as well not been there. Poor child.
It very easily could have been rehearsed and scripted. You don't see the rehearsal scenes or all of the takes, and if this guy has had acting experience, it was just another day on the set for him. I don't for one second believe that this date and the conversation was impromptu and spontaneous.
It is disgusting and sad that TFW took Mady and Cara to the expensive shops to shop for school clothes. Mady has her mother by a short leash and has her currency down pat. Want me to film mom? Take me to the expensive shops and get me whatever I want and I want the things that no one else has.
I haven't even watched the show, but have just seen quick clips.
What is even more stomach turning is that TFW can't stand it when the kids get things when they go out and then she HAS to have something. She feels so deprived if she doesn't get anything.
I remember the back to school spree when she wouldn't get the tups lace tennis shoes. She was over in the women's shoe dept. and debating with the person out of camera range, Should I? Should I get me some shoes? And BAM, before you could blink, there she is in all of her glory, holding 1 or 2 prs. of shoes. IIRC, were they 300 dollars each?
I think she is living out her childhood fantasies of buying anything she wants, gets anything she wants and lets other people pay for it. She truly wouldn't care if the some of the church people gave their last 20 dollars for that family photo at the church tours.
TLC stinks: Mady said she had no idea that jeans came in different lengths. I think TFW controls every aspect of their life and when it's her dollar, she buys all their clothes at target FOR them and the only time they get to choose is on TLC's dime and for filming...which is why mady appeared so clueless ..,she is!
---------------------
I find it hard to believe that she didn't know that. Jeans for kids are not easy to buy without them trying them on...so many styles and so many different "fits." If Kate buys all the twins' jeans online or at stores, and Mady approves of them, then Kate has mastered that task. I've never been able to buy jeans for girls without having them try them on. Sometimes it works for the boys, but not for the girls because they know exactly what they like and the fit they prefer.
Wowser, I heard Mady say that she just discovered jeans come in lengths. If true, then that child has never been jean shopping. That was an interesting tidbit. She may wear mostly stretchy pants instead of jeans, so that could explain the lack of knowledge about jean sizing. All I know is that I saw a very particular, demanding child who is a terror, maybe even to her own mother who wants to be her pal instead of parent. Dysfunction.
If Kate were spending her OWN money at the boutiques, there would not have been so many packages for the twins. And again, she never looks at price tags. You would think Ms. Coupon Clipper, who at the mall made sure to ask, would think twice before shelling out hundreds and hundreds of dollars at these boutiques for HERSELF and the entitled twins. That's what a person does when they spend their hard earned money and not somebody else's.
Living her fantasies out like this proves that she needs help with a therapist. She could have someone come to her house while the kids are in school. She has the money to pay for it. Maybe the reason why she doesn't get help is that she can't face the truth that she needs help and she has really done her kids, her husband and her family wrong.
I am going to watch the episode but I dread seeing Collin in the shape he is in. I feel so bad for him and Aaden and Joel! She truly despises being around them. As a mother of 3 ds, I can't imagine treating my ds's like this.
I agree, Blowing. Young girls today prefer yoga pants and leggings. You must try on jeans, at least with women. I would never attempt to buy my daughter's jeans because she was picky about how washed out they were, style, etc.
I also got tired of Kate saying how much she hated back-to-school shopping. I get it. It wasn't for her at the mall where the unwashed masses shop, but the boutiques were for her and kissing up to the twins. Boy, she sure got excited when the sales lady was picking out outfits for her. Mady gets it right...it's all about her mother. Mady is passive-aggressive, isn't she?
Uh, yeah. I noticed that and it really jumped out at me.
At 15, to not know your jeans size is weird. To have always had to cuff your jeans is wtf?
I grew up in a much lower tax bracket and my pants were always the right length. When they weren't anymore, I got new ones.
I don't care if the pants or jeans are for school or not, you buy your kids clothes that fit them.
I was thinking maybe the boutique's sizing was European, but the salesperson can convert that easily.
That household is an enigma wrapped in a riddle inside a 3-ring circus.
I know! It truly seemed like Mady was shocked that there is a whole world of jean styles, fits and finishes.
I don't know what to think of that because it's so weird.
I'm left to wonder if Kate never, ever takes those kids out to get clothes unless she's getting paid to do so.
We've all seen the terribly ill-fitting school clothes the boys have to wear.
@Kateplusmy8 You know you have 2have a pretty firm figure to wear #SweaterPants! Not for everybody for sure! You rocked those! Go get 'em!
Lucy Ellen, I saw that too. I wonder if that was referring to some comedy show she and Steve went to and the pap shot a picture of her with her horse mouth wide open laughing? Even if they were in Vegas on TLC business, why go to a show together? They go out under the guise of TLC business, but those are dates in my book since it's just the two of them.
This has to be a man or she's still in the closet. No woman talks like this. This is not just a girl crush. She/he is obsessed with Kate's body. If I were Kate, this would scare me.
@deannatweeting @Pumpkinbottom3 @Kateplusmy8 After you girls get settled, meet #MrDeckster & hang out for a while, let's have a #TweetParty!
Still hanging on to Deckster and now invites Jamie and Deanna to meet it. Who or what *is* this nutjob?
