Once in awhile a reality show comes along that tries to make a difference. "The Big Tip" promises to do just that by singling out people in the restaurant service industry deserving of recognition for community service or just all around do-gooders (one waitress is a foster mom, another gives all her money to a dog rescue, still another is also a firefighter). Rachael Ray will then present the waiter or waitress with a "big tip" in the form of a check.
We're not the biggest fan of chirpy Rachael Ray, her mediocre cooking skills and her ripoff garbage bowl marketed to solve a problem that never even existed, but this tear jerker is a cool idea. And it has a little bit of credibility, since Rachael started out as a waitress herself in her parents' restaurants. She works hard, owns pit bulls, and she promises not to bear offspring because she just wouldn't be a fit mother, which you have to respect. Looking forward to this one.

IIRC, the 5 day max. limit of PT days is in Robert's book. I have posted about it off and on here for a long time. Does anyone remember. But, Sue, if she couldn't understand why he wasn't trained in 5 days, that is something you patiently work on. A normal mother would. Not drag them by the hair of their 2 year old head and throw them into their crib because they have an accident, scream they are not dogs! Then beat them into the crib and then run down to sit on your computer and enter the abuse on your "Mommy Journals".

Then further into the book he shows the journal chronologically w/dates where we see the specific reference to the 5 days, etc took place in '07 when they were actually 3+.

In real life, Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer. He and the Englishman Scott were in a race to be first at the South Pole. Scott was the one who had a disastrous trip, reached the pole over a month after Amundsen, and died, along with 4 of his men, on the return journey. Amundsen came off just fine.
I think the posts are mashing up a lot of unrelated "explorer-type" things to make fun of the Austria/Australia blunder.

Yes, it really doesn't matter what TW thought about which tup or tups hadn't finished PT with the others. 5 days or an ultimatum of 5 days or a couple of weeks. It is how she reacted to it is what matters. She went on a rampage and hurt the child and scared the others. She is a loose cannon and has been for years. Her best ever rampages are coming when the book actually hits and the outrage tsunami warning siren is turned on.
I am feeling horrible for those kids when that happens.
The tweeter who said I caused more damage for my inconsistences? How? By mistakenly saying PT had to be within 5 days? I think kate did much more damage by allowing them filmed on the potty at the end of the driveway, where the neighbors could see and the world on film. The south pole races was in 1910-12. Scott died and Amundsen was fine. But you're right that Amundsen disappeared in a plane in the Arctic in 1928. Those old guys really got around!
By the way, the most gripping story of Antarctic exploration was Shackleton. Look for the book Endurance by Alfred Lansing. It's incredibly good. But according to Amazon, there's a new edition with a preface and afterward to "Christianize" the story, plus who knows how much editing of the actual text. The extra stuff can be ignored if you like, but some people were highly indignant about possible changes to the actual text of Lansing's book, which is a classic.
The kids must have been with Jon for Father's Day. Not a peep out of her today. Good. Pure speculation, but maybe Jon will have them all week so she can prep for her mini media tour. All of one show and I doubt that she'll get more than one segment. She's just not that important any more.

If spanking is all those children know, some will repeat that and others will go the opposite extreme. Seems to me Kate's deposition and lack of patience has always made her a terrible mother. You don't have to be a hard ass to raise many children but apparently Kate takes the lazy and hurtful route. I never spanned either of my children for having a potty accident. It's completely normal and you just have to do extra laundry. She has really messed up these kids.
She lives and has lived in a fantasy world. You would think after taking care of twins she would have no desire to have more multiples. At least Jon realized what it would involve since he was most likely Mady and Cara's caregiver. Narcissists are very convincing, Jon was weak and in love and wanted to please Kate. Yes. Although I remember certain parts of it were atypical from most abuse cases and I remain skeptical. I believe he has a brother who said his story is nonsense. And once when someone confronted the author about whether the story was about him apparently he deflected and said it's about a kid who survived.
I've been without internet access for a couple of days, and I'm trying to catch up on the 400+ posts I haven't read, but this one struck me.

You know TFMJG wouldn't take the time to read to her kids. Jon most likely didn't have the time after he came home from a full day's work, fed the kids, bathed the kids, got the kids ready for bed, and put them to bed. TFMJG had a list of other chores for him to accomplish and she would have nagged him remorselessly for wasting time. She did the same thing often on the show when he -- Oh the humanity!! -- actually took the time to play with his kids, to get down on their level and interact with them. She may have lain on bedrest for skipty blue million weeks and birthed those kids, but she's no mother.
I also agree that a love of reading hasn't been fostered in the children. Jon doesn't strike me as a reader, and TFMJG is too busy a piecin' and a patchin' to "waste" time reading.
I have read "It" and the sequels. I actually saw Dave Pelzer speak at a large church in Alabama. I was unaware of the "controversy" at the time. He seems to be a sweet and tender soul. There is sadness behind his upbeat message. I don't know if all his details are true or embellished, but you do sense that he is insecure and has suffered.
I apologize to sheep, real sheep are most definitely a lot smarter that sheeple Kate fans or Kate fans period. Honey Boo Boo and Mama June are on Wendy Williams show today. They are on 3 segments to boot too. Two of them are very short segments and she was playing in a money cash booth in one of them. But TLC is promoting this show alot and only one appearance for Kate.

At least, TLC remembers that the kids have a father. Some of the episodes they're airing are when Jon and Kate took the tups out for their "special days". Just reading the descriptions, shows how Kate never wanted to do anything with the boys.

But here's the thing, Vanessa. Kate is bad when it comes to parenting. No question about it. However, when someone takes what they think is "fact" and puts it out there and it turns out that it is not a fact, that it is distorted, embellished or whatever, it does make her look worse, and it makes the non-fans and their assertions not credible. When tweets contain so many inaccuracies and distortions of the truth, one really doesn't know what to believe -- is this just a rumor by a hater who is bashing Kate by twisting the truth, or is this really what happened? What she does is bad enough; you don't have to pound away with things that really didn't happen. Kate has herself to blame for her lousy parenting and greed. She doesn't need tweeters to make things worse by reporting erroneous "facts."
On the flip side, these distortions serve to make Kate look like a victim of bullying, especially when there are those who know that what is being tweeted is simply not true. The more the non-fans hammer on her with "facts" that they pull up out of their head, the more she can claim that they are nothing but lies, see how I am hated...and she would be right.

Going out on a limb here, but I don't think TFW hits them anymore, but rather tortures them with significant threats of what they can and can not do. She can be verbally vicious.
As far as we know, the kids get to do nothing, other than C, they have many chores, and TFW is a very angry resentful unhappy person. Think last few episodes where she clearly could not control her anger for the cameras. This "super mom" has clear anger issues, and has alienated how many people in her life? Family, friends, babysitters, etc.. There is a reason for this, nothing to do with what Kate says.
She has groomed these kids to meet "her needs" as it is all about her. She manipulates the twins with promises of concerts, I Phones, etc.. to watch over the tups, as she did with Jon, as she clearly never wanted all of the responsibilities with the tups, just the ATTENTION!!!
Jon quit his job with the state at one point, as TFW was clearly not able to handle the tups on her own (left them in their room for 4-5 hour naps, until Jon got home. Who does this ?Then Jon "suddenly" quit his state job, as she wanted him home? Why?? Book tours, tv appearances, anything to get away from the kids.
It really is a joke after she said that she wanted to spend one week with the kids and the other week traveling ideally. Who claims to be a hands on mom and then says this?
Depending on the level of narcissism, anything is possible.
I do think the boys are second class citizens, who rarely said a word in the latter episodes. The twins rebelled, Hannah and Leah do no wrong, and were mean to Jamie's kids, which leaves Alexis who is a sweetheart, and a lively spirit. TFW can not handle that !!! Her way or the highway.
This woman, IMO, had no business having 8 kids. She always needed help, donations, and most importantly attention, and none of it was ever focused on the kids, but rather herself - always.
When you have no relationships with family, friends, hired help, etc.... have alienated so many people who have supported and helped you, maybe you are the problem.
Kids deserve so much better, and to have a life outside of her orbit. Part of growing up includes socialization with other people, and to date, looks like only C gets to socialize (soccer), and this was put in place while Jon was still on board.

I didn't read the story, but I do remember hearing about it, learning some of the details, and being truly horrified. I remember seeing him on Oprah. I did not get a strong "phony" vibe from him, fwiw.
I would actually feel better if I learned that the story was fictional, because it was so awful. Just because his brother says it is nonsense, that really doesn't mean much to me. After all, if you were a kid who basically had to turn a blind eye to what your mother was doing to a sibling, in order to continue to be treated decently yourself -- you might not want to/even be able to, own up to the truth.

Most likely as I think TLC had enough of Craphead, from SP episode on. None of them were positive. I also agree that TLC, after over 2 years of not filming, agreed to give her a special, to void the lawsuit, so no employees would have to testify to what they saw/experienced with the kids.

Thanks for the tlc daytime listing update, everyone! My older dd and some friends who were big J&K fans back in the day liked the show because of the cute toddler children. One friend says Aunt Jodi was her favorite, and after she was no longer on the show this friend didn't watch. Tlc probably wants to bring back those fond early memories and show the contrast in the appearance of the children. The contrast in the appearance of TFMJG is just a bonus.

She didn't get $10,000 just for reading the book. If she were being paid that much for an episode, and reading that book was included in that episode, then that's how much she was paid. Same can be said about cooking her granny soups. They were included in the episode, and therefore, if they were making that much per episode, then one could say that she was paid X-amount for putting pots of soup on the stove (and whatever tasks were included in that episode).
I'm hoping the J&K+8 updates are shown in their entirety & not whitewashed versions. Didn't TLC scrub DVDs, or do I remember incorrectly?

Ohhh...the Cupcake Episode. Just thinking about how crushed those poor boys were on their birthday breaks my heart. That episode and the discipline episode were the biggest clues that there was abuse of all sorts going on in that house...mental, emotional, physical. During the discipline episode even my husband said, "There is NO way all 8 kids would go to time out immediately just by their word. Maybe one or two would have that type of personality, but not all 8. They've either been beaten or threatened." And when Kate sat in the interview chair she said, "Oh, they just go." Yeah, right.
I'm up for a Bloody Mary (as soon as I get off work and finish at the gym) and then I shall have my Bloody Mary as I sit and watch Master Chef and 24.

When my oldest ds was in the 4th grade, his teacher let him borrow her copy of the book, "Where the Red Fern Grows". He was in the gifted program and she said he could read it. Well, he read about half of it and hadn't got to the part about what happens with Dan and Anne.
I told him, you have to find out what happens with Dan and Anne! There is a street in my hometown that intersects with each other, corner of Dan St. & Ann St.
So, that night, I put them all into their beds. We had 2 twin beds and 1 reg. bed in their room. I sat in the floor next to his bed and read the book till he went to sleep and the others always fell asleep before him! They were tired from school, watch a little tv, playing outside till almost dark, come in wash their hands, eat, bathe and go to bed.

Even though there are only a few posters posting over and over, all they do is copy comments from here and bash away. The best part is they criticize and bash this group, they find that just fine.
That is the purpose for their blog. They switched from c/pasting RWA comments to ours when that blog closed. I may be alone in this opinion, but it makes me uncomfortable to even be discussing in general terms what they do over there. I'm so glad Admin doesn't allow blog on blog comments here and keeps this a safe and secure place to express our opinions.
Regarding Kate reading to the kids--we don't really know whether she read to them or not, so I'm not going to judge. My two oldest sons simply could not sit still long enough to be read to. They were always up and running around in seconds, begging me to play hide-and-seek instead. I actually felt guilty about it, believing that I should be reading to my kids, but what do I do if they don't want to be read to? The next two sons couldn't get enough. They would bring me piles and piles of books to read until I was tongue-tied and couldn't pronounce the words right. The rest of my boys were a mix--some liked being read to, some did not. I think you have to take into account the kids' preferences. I hope she tried.

I find that term incredibly offensive. As I have mentioned before (more than once, I know), I am an adoptive mom and therefore my boys are not all of the same skin color. Racist words infuriate me. They should infuriate anyone who hears or reads them. Of course they will continue to use that term, even though they know it is racist. Why would we expect anything more from them? I just hope there are no African-Americans who post there. Wouldn't want them to offend one of their own. Not that they would care.

The actions I take are those I've been doing for quite some time: stopped watching J&K+8 once I realized that Kate was a truly awful mother; stopped watching TLC almost entirely in protest; post and discuss here. But that's plenty enough for me. Sooner or later, no matter how famous, how powerful, how wealthy a person might be - if they are truly vile, they will bring themselves down. Donald Sterling; Lance Armstrong; any number of elected officials caught either with their pants down or their hands out reaching for bribes. In the end, they always go too far and/or the public gets so sick and tired of them, they finally turn on them. Kate is her own worst enemy. Her need for public attention is an addiction.

TLC is airing some of the most disturbing episodes. Trust the process. Trust that people are basically good people who want what's best for children. I think once they see these they're going to be rethinking this.

OH yea. I haven't seen one second of this show since it was cancelled. However I remember once before it was cancelled flipping to the episode where Collin was constipated. I hadn't seen it in a long time. And it was WORSE than what I even remembered. She was so cold an indifferent to her suffering little baby. It was chilling. You can dress it up with cute music and cute kids but it did nothing anymore for me to disguise one sociopathic woman.

My DH has told me horror stories about his stepmother that I dare not repeat except to say she was an abuser of the worst kind. It took him years to even talk about it with me. He has one ONE good memory about her and that is that she made very good buns every Monday. Having one after school was a privilege, although that was taken away often for the slightest transgression.

Frankly, I do not have an issue with Jon if he did collaborate by being interviewed by Robert. Is he splitting the profits? I do not know and I do not care. Jon has a story to tell too. He has given Kate plenty of time to co-parent and she refuses. The damage has been done. Time to get it all out and start fresh.
We can rest assured that GMA will be given a list of safe questions and Kate is rehearsing her lies. Will anyone ever dare to throw her off and ask probing questions? It won't happen unless Robert's book is discussed outside of entertainment tabloids.

I tried for a long time last night to find the link to the 100th episode with Emeril. I can not find it. I went to TLC, they don't have it or I couldn't find it and Netflix is only showing, Season 4 and 5. It is in Season 5. There is a promo for it on YT that is 55 seconds long and it shows her hitting him with the spanker. Then she leans over behind him and laughs to the producer? Maybe JS?
Then she leans back over and giggling hits him again harder and he is rubbing his arm, but they don't show that.
There were several things to get mad at her on that show. She fed the kids on the prison trays while the adults eat on regular china. I think Emeril was taken aback by that. Wasn't the kids still in the high chairs? And Emeril had all the tups sitting on barstools at the bar and they all had a job to do to help. The were not fighting, bothering each other. They were listening! And doing their job well.
He was giving them so much self-esteem and confidence! They just loved him. He made kate look like a total jackwagon. This is one of the reasons why she got rid of Aunt Jodi. Because it can be done with love and patience. And she didn't want her to get paid.
I wish TLC would of went to AJ privately and said, hey, we want to compensate you for all you have done on the show and we want you to be on the show and we want to pay you. We will draw up an agreement ND and we will keep it from kate. They should of done this and not let kate find out. The way she done AJ about the half of an organic side of beef is repulsive. She got it free, then sold half of it to AJ.

Two things are at play here. They believed the "Robert settled" story hook, line and sinker. They also thought that Robert's book would never see the light of day again.
20 months after the release of the first edition of the book, Kate and the sheeple are no better off now than they were then. All their efforts have been for literally nothing. It seems like the sheeple thought that at the very least, the book is never coming back out again. Oh snap. Since now they can't say it's lies and made up stories, they are going to go with the storyline that Robert settled with Kate, and is now "breaking legal ethical protocol" by putting it out again. I'm waiting for "a source close to Kate" to run to Radar with this drivel.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Kate drop Robert's suit without prejudice? Meaning she can sue him again for the same allegations. Why would any sane person pay someone off to have a case dropped, then allow to door to stay open to be sued again? To me, it's plain as day that there was no settlement here, the documents that were able to be viewed on PACER prove this. Here's a situation where there is the indisputable proof they demand, but they choose to ignore it because it doesn't fit their agenda.

I think Milo saw some tweets about Kate being on Bethany yesterday(which was a repeat), and she automatically assumed Kate is doing the talk show rounds to promote the special.
I think it's funny how she didn't mention GMA, which is where Kate is actually scheduled to appear.
Milo has no self awareness. She's mentioned all these shows Kate is "usually" on to promote but she has no earthly idea if Kate is really going to be on. Now if Kate is NOT on, which she may very well not be, she has just completely embarrassed her. She's so dumb.
I hate how she speaks for Kate too like she's her assistant or something. It's so obnoxious when she tries to tell other fans what is going on like she knows more than they do when she doesn't.

When I read all that BV mess and the people he associates himself with, it makes perfect sense he and Kate formed some alliance. I wonder if money changed hands? I believe so, at least something got BV hot to pounce on Kate's enemies. His motivation is money.
