What's worse than filming the demise of your marriage?

Faking the demise of your marriage.

Tori Spelling's new reality show True Tori has all the makings of a great episode of her father's legacy Dynasty. Now the internet is abuzz with evidence that, shocker, it could all be fake.

Old Instagram photos posted by Tori and Dean don't add up to the narrative they are telling now. And various sources say the woman Dean claims to have cheated with in Canada doesn't exist.

And check out this prophetic quote from Tori, "I’m Aaron Spelling’s daughter. I knew how to write the story. I knew what would tug on heartstrings." Not to mention, what ever would possess someone to make a television show out of something so terrible, especially when all they do is complain about the paparazzi? This would be funny if there weren't four little kids involved.

It depends on what the NBA laws/guidelines are.
If being repugnant is cause to take his team away or force a sale, then yes.

I'm just not sure it works that way.
$$$$$$$$$
It most definitely does not work that way. Look at the Russian oligarch and the gay basher owners and that is just the tip of the hate/money/power iceberg that is NBA owners. Then there are the Washington R-words.

I hate when the media sets the agenda and the public played right into their hands on this one. We should be demanding to know why we were not informed of this man sooner but no one seems to be demanding that and the media has done a lovely job of distracting us with controversial kitchen table rantings from a senile old man. Well done, I hope they buy themselves something nice with the spoils.
*****
I agree that the media is often full of news that is pointless, or meant to distract us from what's really going on. However, it's up to us to be smart consumers of the media. Did I pay attention to the Sterling drama - yes. Did I then do some of my own research to answer questions I had? Yes. Did I watch Anderson Cooper's interview - no. Did I discuss my thoughts here? Yes.

Here's what I believe - as consumers, as part of the population of whatever town we live in, state or country - we ought to inform ourselves on what is going on. Pay attention, do some of our own research, and don't be passive. Critical thinking is a skill that is no longer taught to today's students - and my belief is that is purposeful.

If you have an interest in something, pay attention to those involved. As an example, I love the SF Giants. That's my team. They seem to really promote a family-friendly environment. They have promotions for all sorts of groups - and take into account that they are located in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Their fans include people of all ethnicities and walks of life, and their promotions show that they are aware and welcome those fans. If I learned that Brian Sabean (the Giant's long time GM) was actually very prejudiced against any group of people, it would matter hugely to me and it would probably end his career with the Giants.

The media does set the agenda. But we as media consumers can pick where we get our news from; and whether we will tune out news that is really just so much noise. Turn off the Jody Arias trial. Turn off the news covering yet another young blond woman who has disappeared and the endless speculation of it. Turn instead to BBC News or (pick your choice). Avoid TMZ (lol) and of course RadarOnLine. Or at least take what you read there with a grain of salt. It's all about being a smart consumer, just like carefully reading the labels on the food you buy. It might say "All Natural!" on the front but you turn to the label and find 8 things you can't pronounce in the ingredient list.

I didn't fall for anything. I came to the conclusion he may be suffering from dementia by myself. I actually hadn't heard anyone else say that. I was not surprised to find out later a ton of people said the same thing. I came to the conclusion because of my own first hand experience dealing with loved ones suffering from it. Others have said the same. You can believe it or not but you can't tell people who have seen similar behaviors in others that our observations are not valid to us. Barbara Walters also admitted he was confused. Anderson Cooper said quite clearly he has absolutely no experience with dementia, what it looks like, etc, so his opinion on that is worthless as much as I adore him. Around the web numerous experts are weighing in that it sure looks like dementia is at play. You can believe he has dementia and believe he is racist, it's not like anyone is saying it must be one or the other. Even racists can get dementia eventually.

Um well I hear it all the time especially since I work with doctors and psychologists and educators. It is proper and acceptable when used to describe their patients. And it's lovely that good people would help someone struggling but sadly many more would not help or would poke fun. This is not always a friendly place for those with special needs. It makes about as much sense to deny that goes on as it does to deny Sterling is a racist.

What Sterling has said and done is nothing compared to Marge Schott, former owner of the Cincinnati Reds. Read her Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marge_Schott

I also believe there are some other NBA owners who are quaking in their boots. (other pro sports teams too) Sterling didn't get to be a billionaire by being stupid. If this comes down to a vote by the owners, it will be interesting.

They really need to start with the medical community. It is a medical term and I've seen it in hundreds of reports from the medical community. One just this week, "mild mental retardation." It is used as a way to explain the patient, not to degrade them.

People use it in a derogatory fashion sometimes, and obviously that's not acceptable. Are they against it being used in a medical way or just in a derogatory way? What alternative word do they propose that doctors, psychologists, and therapists use in their reports? Personally I need to know the status of my clients so I can better serve them. If I do not know a client has special needs and exactly what those are, I cannot adequately serve their case, contact the appropriate service providers, etc. I agree that using it to name call is never acceptable, but professionals need to be able to know what is going on with their clients.

Admin - you just laid out why people should not accept the news or other media stories at face value. And slanted journalism is nothing new. The term "yellow journalism" sprang up in the late 1800's:

"In the 1890s, a bitter circulation war erupted between Joseph Pulitzer's New York World and William Randolph Hearst's New York Journal. In an spiraling contest of outrageous journalism, the newspapers used all means to attract readers—heavy doses of murder and sex, banner headlines and colored supplements.

Pulitzer introduced the first comic strip, The Yellow Kid, drawn by Richard Outcault. The character became immensely popular and inspired the name for the sensationalist press of the era.

Both Hearst and Pulitzer played leading roles in molding American public opinion about the conflict between Spain and its Cuban colony. The papers reported Spanish atrocities in exaggerated detail, but neglected to mention Cuban misdeeds. Both repeatedly called for armed intervention, then later, all-out war."

So this is nothing new. Was it Tucker's Mom who said it was all about the money? Because she's right - it's all about getting the biggest market share of consumers watching your show, reading your paper, or listening to your station, and sadly, sex, violence, scandal sells.

So that's why I always question what I hear, and then when a story interests me, go online and see what else I can find and get more in depth. It's the wisest advice I could give anyone, in any situation. Do not take what you are told on face value, but always check the source and verify. Many smart people get taken every day, because they do not verify.

As to the use of the word "retarded:" My sister's doctors never use that word in her presence and if they are having a discussion about a particular health issue common to Down's, they say "Down's Syndrome," not "retarded person". It has a very negative connotation, similar to saying "that's so gay!" The only people I still hear using the word (unfortunately) are high school students using it in a derogatory manner (that's retarded!). When my sister was young, as a family we experienced second hand the stares of strangers, the whispers of "look at that retard". I remember wanting to hit those people as hard as I could. My parents taught us to ignore the bad behavior, to try to understand it came from a place of ignorance, and that to respond in anger would only upset our sister more. (Without saying so, they were teaching us a real life example of turning the other cheek.)

I did not see Andersen taking advantage of anyone either. I thought he was his usual self, patient, fair and respectful. He respectfully pointed out the facts when Sterling would say something incorrect, such as when he tried to say Magic Johnson has not done anything for the community (and in the breath before that he said just the opposite, so there ya go again.)

Andersen was exceedingly professional. That doesn't mean the dementia is not so.

PJ -- I don't have to look at Marge Schott's Wikipedia page to know what she did to the Reds. I'm a lifelong Reds fan and I lived in Cincinnati during the Marge Schott era. She was a mean, rude, vindictive racist beyotch who famously praised Hitler and referred to Eric Davis and Barry Larkin, among others as "my million dollar n*****s". Thankfully, MLB removed her from team ownership. It took the Reds organization years to recover from the damage she did to it, not just in terms of PR, but in actual damage, by slighting the minor league system and dismantling the scout corp.

So Steve would demand people hand over their cell phones to delte photos...they should have called the cops. Here's what just happened to Justin Bieber:

So Justin Bieber was accused in an attempted robbery, Los Angeles police confirmed to USA TODAY on Tuesday night.

And now the rest of the story is coming out:

The pop star was trying to take a cell phone, according to TMZ and CNN. It wasn’t that the Biebz needed to make a call. He wasn’t happy that a fan was trying to snap a photo.

Bieber was at a mini-golf and batting cage complex in Sherman Oaks, Calif. and got into an “altercation,” says TMZ, with some guys there. That’s when a woman reached for her cellphone to take pics. Bieber noticed and demanded she give him her phone. She refused. He went into her purse and grabbed it. She told him she wanted to take the snaps for her 13-year-old daughter, who started crying as all this unfolded.

The woman lodged a complaint and police got involved. No word from Bieber’s camp about it all.

She did and showed him that she did not take a picture, that they just wanted to say hi. Then he hollered, Your humiliating yourself in front of your daughter and then the dd started crying. Then he turned and started screaming at one of his henchmen.

Justin, you are out in public. People can take pictures of you. You are over 18, you are not a child even though you act worse than a 2 year old. If this is proven what you did, you should be charged with a felony, not a misdemeanor. Also, the egg vandalism should be charged with a felony too. I hope the DA, the one with the final say will follow through with felony charges. Any vandalism damage in CA over 400 dollars is a felony.

I can't believe some people actually obeyed Steve to delete photos. Nobody has a right to grab your phone and look through it and delete pictures of themselves that were taken out in public. The lady with the phone with JB had to try to wrestle it back from him.

Admin - Respectfully, I did not see evidence of dementia in Sterling during Cooper's interview. What I saw was a man who tried to say what he was coached to say then his true feelings came out (the anger with MJ) catching himself, going back to coached version, then slipping to real feelings, then catching himself yet again. I saw true sorrow in a man who finally has realized Vi did not care for him, and never would, in the way he wanted her to care for him. I have seen his back and forth - what he "should" say then what he wants to say. Every bit the narcissist. He is a known liar and the lies became just to difficult to keep straight. I didn't believe that he had respect for MJ, nor did I believe that he thought MJ a "good person". I do believe he truly hates MJ.

Now, I am not a medical professional, but I remember when my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's the doctors going to great lengths to explain that dementia is not a disease but a set of symptoms that may be the result of a number of conditions/diseases, Alzheimer's being just one. When my brother and I noticed a change in Mom the Geriatrics Dept. at the Cleveland Clinic in FL ran a number of tests. They found her cognitive skills fine, no dementia symptoms, but she was depressed. My brother and I would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that she showed signs of dementia. It wasn't until 3 years later that she was definitively diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She was 87 at the time of diagnosis and still was lucid most of the time.

Back to Sterling - of course it still is in the realm of possiblity that he is exhibiting dementia symptoms due to an underlying condition, IMHO I just didn't see it.

lukebandit, I doubt we will ever see a revised book from Robert. Kate won. Robert does not have unlimited resources to fight her. His only hope is for his anonymous eyewitnesses to come forward. And that won't happen because she'll sue. At least I have his book. I know what she is.

Have you noticed how quiet she's been? Got to wonder if Jon's attorney is making her scared.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I've noticed she has really stopped with the disparaging remarks about Jon. Time makes us forget but in the not too distant past she could be really vile about him and it was frequent. You know she still can't stand him and can't help herself, but the remarks she makes now are extremely subtle like the over 60% jab. Remarks she could easily play innocent about later. Math's not my strong suit Mr Judge! She's sly that one but at least she has cut back on her constant public alienation of him. It just wasn't helpful to anyone least of all the children. I doubt she stopped because she's seen the error of her ways so it must be some other reason.

Is that the time when Kate, Steve and kids were at the Please Touch Museum? My memory is fuzzy, but I don't think that Steve demanded that the woman hand over her cell phone. If I recall, the story was that he told HER to delete the photo...same thing with the blog writer on the beach who took their photos. I don't think that Steve would be stupid enough to actually seize a phone, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

It is so hard to say what happened to Justin Bieber. I do think he is surrounded by enablers who need their paycheques. While they may have offered counsel, I bet they back off at the first sign of any defence from him. He is in a bubble and believes he is separate and apart from the rest of the world because of his fame and diehard followers. Sad.

I think of his debut on Ellen, and what a sweet, kind kid he seemed. Being Canadian, I thought he was a real ambassador for us, a humble, YouTube sensation. When I look at pictures of him now I cringe. He looks like an entitled hyped-up punk, a once talented guy now a laughing stock and STILL he doesn't get it. His "career" is over, but he did it to himself, he is just another cautionary tale of too much too soon, well that and all the hanger's on who pander to him!

So Kate wanted to fake a good marriage to keep "the realist reality show" and Tori fakes her marriage dissolving to keep a reality show?
Words fail me.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I think what happened to Bieber fever is simple. He was told he is the greatest one too many times. He was given everything and treated special too many times. Too many people worshiped him too many times. Eventually that goes to your head without a firm foundation and some people who treat you like the mediocre person you are. A 19 year old kid is still figuring out who they are and has a lot of emotional development still to go, especially men. How can you do that when your image has already been solidified by the public? I think Kate suffered from the same fate. It went to her head that she is special, unique, and a good mother. And famous. It all went to her head and it ruined her. And I know this is one of our greatest concerns about the Gosselin children is that in the process of giving them "everything" they could end up worse for it, emotionally speaking. We thought about this situation on a very critical level. It is not as simple as making sure the kids have "everything" and you're good to go. That's a simple and immature way to look at it, yet it's how Kate and the sheeple see it.

Prince William has said quite a lot that he prefers to hang around friends who don't treat him like he's special. Who will tell him when he stinks and tell him the truth. I think that's more because he's very shy and that sort of worship makes him uncomfortable. But I think the way he has avoided the constant adulation has really helped to keep him as normal as possible in a decidedly abnormal world. Both him and his brother when they speak are such nice young men, so grounded and real.

The glorified self, and aggrandizement. There have been some interesting psychological case studies done, and Bieber is a poster child for it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Aggrandizement. Good word.

It's the trophy complex. It's the same idea. You can't give a kid a trophy for getting out of bed every morning and doing what they're SUPPOSED to do or it messes them up.

In this case, Bieber got a trophy just for existing. It messed him up. So many other child stars have spoken about how this sort of thing was not good for them.

I believe their marriage is over and they are making alot of money by sharing the sordid tale with viewers. The kids will see the show about the small dink and zits one day and you've got to wonder what that will be like. Just like Jon's 'masturbation' fiasco. Which brings me to Candi Spelling recently talking about condom shopping on TV. She is no better than her dumb daughter. She is a terrible interview and has no business being on TV. Like Kate.

Liam's birthday party in April was party #2 so it could be filmed with Dean. Totally scripted. Tori blogged about his actual party in March (his real birthday). These little details are coming out. Sound familiar like the fake Gosselin Christmas? People in Hollywood laugh at the suckers who believe these "reality" shows. Frankly, I would not put it past Dean to be a cheater (because he was), but Tori and Dean are mediocre actors and this show is a travesty because those little kids are being used and probably confused. Sound familiar? Maybe when this all breaks and there's enough outrage about reality tv lies and exploitation of children, this phase of trash TV will be shamed out of existence.

The latest episode of TrueTori was so funny. Yes, I think the show is soooo fake so that is why it is so funny. They are trying so hard to be serious but they are both horrible actors. I watch it to see what stupid stuff they will bring up and try to act out. It is great entertainment. Yes, it does piss me off that their kids will see this all one day.

In the latest episode, Tori showed Dean on her cellphone that she took their four kids to a Christmas play while he was cheating. Dean puts his hands on his head pretending the emotional pain of what he did is causing him horrible physical head pain. And he also has shakes his foot during this time. Tori goes crazy over Dean doing this and claims because of these actions of clinching his head and shaking his foot that he is back being suicidal. It is the stupidest, craziest thing I have ever seen on any reality tv show. And in another shot, Dean walks out his front door of their house, and Tori tells a producer (or somebody) to follow him because she does not trust him. Because you know, we might commit suicide.

Oh, and the therapist is the worst. She is pure gold in comedy.

http://www.crushable.com/2014/05/14/entertainment/tori-spelling-dean-mcdermott-partner-swapping-swingers-rumor/

**********************

So according to sources, Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling are into swapping partners, and whether it’s true or not, I’m just shocked that it never showed up on their reality show.

Oh yeah, and I might as well tell you — I’m now fully invested in True Tori, the discomfort-inducing Lifetime docu-series that supposedly paints a truthful picture of Dean and Tori’s struggle to save their marriage after he was revealed to have cheated on her with a Canadian woman named Emily Goodhand. I resisted getting addicted for as long as I could, but it was no use.

The show is just such a manufactured look at their lives that I can’t help being mesmerized by it. It’s not how they are, it’s how they want to be seen, which is way more telling than they realize. For example, you can learn just as much from the things they take out than the things they leave in, like this rumor from Life & Style about Dean and Tori being a coupla regular swingers!

According to an ‘insider’, Tori and Dean ‘were into swapping partners!’ He or she describes an alleged incident that took place a few years ago, at a pool party hosted by the McDermott-Spellings. They were supposedly both getting pretty drunk, and at one point, after calling Tori the love of his life, they claim that Dean oh-so-graciously offered her to a friend of his. Y’know, just being a good host.

“He said, ‘Try her!’ and proceeded to push Tori onto his friend’s lap.”

I’m obsessed with that phrasing — I LOVE HER, YOU TRY HER! And according the the source, Tori was into it, as they claim she ‘eagerly tried to kiss Dean’s friend’, who was so embarrassed that he made an excuse and left the party.

Who knows whether it’s true or not, but if so, it’s easy to see why no suggestion of it was included on True Tori. For one thing, that’s a very personal part of anyone’s life, and even though consensual partner-swapping is nothing to be ashamed of, most people wouldn’t want that aired out on national television. But for another thing, it really doesn’t fit with the show’s narrative, which is that Dean messed up, Dean cheated, Dean lied, Dean was at fault…and Tori was not only blameless, but completely blindsided because she was never anything other than Grade-A faithful.

If this is a thing that the two of them are into, good for them, as long as next time they find someone who’s slightly more into it. At least enough to stay for the end of the pool party. But regardless, all this does for me is mentally confirm that their show is nowhere close to the full truth, and make me more determined than ever to get to the bottom of it.

Read more: http://www.crushable.com/2014/05/14/entertainment/tori-spelling-dean-mcdermott-partner-swapping-swingers-rumor/#ixzz31mxF3bm9

The parallels between Tori and Kate are pretty striking. It's all about the narrative as to what you want to project as your image as opposed as to what is the truth. I have read numerous articles about how Tori is not the doting mother she wants viewers to see, how the kids are exploited, and this is the first article I've read that they are not as devoted to each other as Tori would have you believe. The narrative: Christian mom of 8 surely would never have an affair with a married man! She would never suggest an open marriage! I am sick and tired of these "celebrities" thinking most people are gullible and buy into their fabricated reality TV world. And I'll throw Jon into the mix with CT. For you sheeple who read here, use your brains and common sense.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/television/true-tori-a-story-of-fame-money-sadness-and-desperation/article18224413/

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

First, let’s backtrack. In the summer of 2008, during the TV critics press tour in L.A., on one of the slow days, several Canadian journalists, including my colleague Andrew Ryan, paid a visit to the Hollywood Collectors & Celebrities Show.

The event is one of those sterling reminders about fleeting fame and wealth in Hollywood. Former movie and TV stars, many elderly, sign posters and photographs for a fee. For $20 they’ll sign something for you. Most are there because they kinda need the cash. You can tell. The place – it’s usually at an airport hotel – reeks of sadness and desperation.

In 2008, TV critics wandering through it were astonished to see Tori Spelling at a table signing photos from her Beverly Hills, 90210 days for twenty bucks. Beside her was Dean McDermott. As critic Bill Brioux described it on his blog, “you could feel the dude trying to rescind into the wall paper. I asked Spelling if the rumours were true that she was joining the new 90210 series, and she said nothing has been signed yet. A new season of the couple’s reality series Tori & Dean: Inn Love, has just begun airing in the States.”

I was thinking of that incident the other day. Just days after True Tori began airing, scorn was being heaped on it. Both TMZ and the website Jezebel suggested that the entire McDermott-cheated story was faked in order to land Spelling a new TV show. TMZ news director Mike Walters said that the Canadian “other woman,” named Emily, “doesn’t exist.” He said, “in all the ways to check that people exist, she doesn’t exist.”

Jezebel studied True Tori closely and devoted thousands of words to it and the whole Spelling/McDermott saga. It’s a demolition job. It asks, “Did Tori Spelling Fake a Cheating Scandal to Land a New Reality Show?” It concludes that there might be a “nugget of truth” to the cheating scandal, but casts serious doubts on the existence of the Canadian named Emily and asserts that Spelling, “continues to lie about her life.”

I guess Dean flew the coop to Toronto. They were filming him with Tori and kids saying good-bye at LAX. Then she made a stop at McDonald's. She also went to McDonald's on Mother's Day. I bring this up because I read all she feeds the kids is McDonald's.

I wonder if Candy Spelling is as bad as what I've read. Perhaps the reason Tori and her brother only got $800,000 (that's huge to me, LOL) is because they would blow through a large inheritance. I think Dean thought he hit pay dirt by marrying Tory, so maybe there is some friction. Also, the four kids in seven years...kind of a slap in the face to Dean's ex who had miscarriages and ended up adopting Lola, which he gladly gave up despite what he claims now.

They really need to start with the medical community. It is a medical term and I've seen it in hundreds of reports from the medical community. One just this week, "mild mental retardation." It is used as a way to explain the patient, not to degrade them.

4444444444444444

You are so correct. But the 'experts' will use the phrases "Low IQ numbers", or "low functioning". Mainly coz they do hate to use the word 'retarded'. However, that term is still used medically quite a bit.

I am still only skimming comments to catch up, but I want to say that for me, I dont think any of us can accuratly diagnose dementia based on one interview by a non-medical profession who was not interviewing to determine impairment in the first place. If we were observers of a couple of mental health assessements done by professionals, we might be able to analyze more accurately. Just like one would not give legal ADVICE based on that interview (I know an off the cuff opinion is not the same as advice, but I am ducking anyway now. Love to Admin and Millicent...:-) )

I was making a joke about kate's wedding dress that she wore on CA for the wedding dress sale project. Bjork, a singer, wore a hideous dress similar to kate's but had a big stuffed swan on it on the red carpet.

I was joking that she could of gotten Zorro to help her by modeling with her. He could of perched on her shoulder. I expect her to post a picture of Shoka with Zorro sitting on his head. Would get 2 deflections with one stone!

It can be removed all we want but as Dwindle corroborated my experiences, the medical community is still using the term. Which would lead a reasonable person to believe it is still in standard use, which was all that was said. At that point it becomes an issue of educating about new terms. I really don't think they are intending to be disrespectful. Most of them do wonderful work for those with special needs. It's not like they go around name calling. It's diagnostic terms used in paperwork that are rarely read aloud. I actually hear "special needs" a lot when we need to speak about the person, which I think is an acceptable term but apparently what do I know. I think labeling someone disabled could be an issue too. I can see how many people would be offended by that as well, especially since many high functioning people who live normal lives don't consider themselves "disabled." My dad doesn't like labels for what's going on with him. He does not like Alzheimer's or dementia. He prefers to say "I can't remember things sometimes but I'm ok." You wouldn't be able to please him by using the PC labels. In fact it makes him upset. I don't think you will ever make all people happy with the right PC label but we can try to make the majority pleased.

Right or wrong, whether WE like or not, whether public relations groups condone it or not, it is the way physicians still communicate with each other. An ER report is mainly written for other docs, and those 2 words ("mentally retarded") convey all the info a primary doc needs to know from an ER doc about how a patient presented that night in the ER.

If a primary says "GO to the ER" it is most often because he/she cant see the patient at the moment and wants another doc's eyes on the pt. If a patient goes to the ER, a primary or follow up doc ONLY wants to know what another physician saw at the time. So those 2 words are simple, to the point, and get the info across. We may not like it, but docs are still using it and they dont mean any harm by it. whether or not it is in style doesnt matter when they are in a hurry.

Dont shoot the messager, whether it is your humble servant here or our Admin.

OT: Admin, you know who I am and many ways on how to reach me. if I can offer info re your dad's situation, I am happy to help. Always.

In any case, shaming, browbeating, or making providers feel guilty is not the way to create a sea change. In this area of need, a lot of professionals are working long hours for reduced pay because they truly care about these people. A lot of them are not up on the revolving door of the constant changes (and it is constant. It's narcissism, no it's not, it's histrionic, no it's not, and on and on), because they stayed up all night helping a sick child or working on his case to get him a real working diagnosis to HELP him. This is a segment that is often overworked, underpaid, and undertrained. But certainly not lacking for passion. I have been amazed at the generosity I have seen from the various medical professionals I have worked with. They care so much. I have so many examples. I had a psychologist who billed me half what he was really owed because he knew I had reached my authorized limit BUT he very much felt for his patient and wanted to help me help her (and he very much did, and when I shared with him the results that man beamed with happiness for her.) That is the kind of unsung heroes working in this area. The dozens more examples of true caring I could give you would make you cry. That kind of thing wouldn't usually happen. I think most providers would just say sorry you're out of money so that means I'm done working with you.

They could be a researcher at someplace fancy or do a host of other things but they've chosen instead to work here. They've chosen not to bill for hours they are rightly owed because they just want to HELP.

Let's be supportive of those who are dedicated to helping in this area, and offer information in a way that is collaborative, not combative. Remember these people are here because they love working with this population and they just want to help, not hurt. No one does this because they want a McMansion. Even further back terms like mongolism was accepted, we have come far. If even further change is desired it can change but it needs to be done so with patience and understanding. If this is something you feel strongly about then do something about it. Call up all these providers, send informative letters, offer to host or help trainings. But to sit around in snap judgment of them because they are innocently using terms that were perfectly acceptable up until the blink of an eye recently, and only using them to try to HELP, is unfair.

.....Yesss, providers are underpaid. It's not just the treating physician who is helping the patient right? Each patient usually has a team. It's the nurses, therapists, special ed teachers, in home service workers and other support, and social workers who also help them. No one is getting rich. In home services or other similar regional center service providers can be making minimum wage.

"Banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling isn't going away without a fight.

Sterling's lawyer has informed the NBA that Sterling will not be paying the $2.5 million fine levied on him last month by commissioner Adam Silver, sources confirmed to ESPN.com on Thursday night.

That fine was due this week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

In a letter sent on Sterling's behalf, antitrust litigator Max Blecher also threatened to sue the league if Sterling is not afforded due process."

I thought the NBA is a private organization, and as such, is "due process" required?

This is very true. In the World English Dictionary, the word geriatrics, used as an adjective, is defined as "offensive - (of people or machines) old, obsolescent, worn out, or useless" and used as a noun, "informal , offensive - an older person considered as one who may be disregarded as senile or unable to look after his or her own best interests".

Personally, I did not know this and innocently enough always considered it a term referring to the disease management of older people. I had no idea it was 'offensive'. Go figure.

Millicent said...

Physicians or other medical personnel's use of various medical terms is not something I have any issue with. My contribution to the conversation was about growing up with a sister who has Down's and the way some people rudely reacted to her, right in front of us.

In my own humble opinion, main-streaming children who have special needs into the regular classrooms has helped make a wider segment of society feel more comfortable with people who are different than themselves. That's true of any situation. Once you interact with a person who is on the surface quite different than you, often you realize that those differences aren't as important as you once thought. Underneath, they are human just like you, have the same emotions, and often long for the same things as you do.

I have no problem with the terminology used in medical reports. I review medical records all the time in my line of work and I have yet to come across anything truly offensive.

So far I have a red spoon, a video camera, and bad attitude. anything else?
For real any tips would be great. 1st time mom. She's 23 months old.
****
Hi Virginia - your first remark made me laugh. As to any real tips, I will just share my experience, with my son. Boys and girls are different in a lot of ways, including when they are ready to learn to use the toilet. So take my advice as coming from a mom of a boy, but I still hope it's useful.

When my son was 2, he was in a home daycare situation and the other child was a girl, about his same age. She began potty training around age 2 and apparently was ready and did pretty well. So we had hopes my son would be ready. We were wrong. lol.

I tried to introduce the potty chair to him. I tried to encourage him to let me know when he needed to go. I then backed off. 6 months go by. Tried again. Still no go. Another six months go by and I'm wondering when he'll be ready! He starts preschool shortly after turning 3. The administrator there tells me that often children will start preschool still in diapers and see their peers using the bathroom and decide, "hey I want to be like them!" Maybe a month into preschool, my son tells me one week-end he doesn't want to wear diapers anymore. So I let him wear regular underwear during the day and he's fine. No accidents. At bedtime, I tried to put a pair of pull ups on - and he didn't want those either. After a little back and forth, I give in and let him wear the underwear and cross my fingers and hope for the best. To my surprise, he stayed dry all night. In fact, he never had an accident during the night. Once or twice at school, but that was it. Easiest potty training ever. (Well, no training involved on my part.)

My advice is to let your daughter set the pace. Don't make a big deal of it. Have the grown up panties at the ready. I had one dear friend who I guess was super tired of changing diapers or else just thought her daughter should reach this milestone by a certain age. She ran herself ragged by taking her daughter to the bathroom literally every half hour. She had a timer and everything.

One final bit of advice - only use praise and reward, never anything negative if and when she's not ready or there is an accident. (I have a feeling you're already following that method.)

Millicent, what a great way to TT your babies! I only wish TCFW would of done this. My sons were 3, 1 and 0 and my 3 yr. old had been trained by 2 and when it was time for the others, they wanted to be like their big brother. Had no problems.

kate just loves to exaggerate how sooooooooo hard everything is and what an exhausting and how unsure and helpless she is with doing things that have to be done with the kids. The TT, teaching them how to tie their shoes. She is just a professional whiner/complainer to anyone who will listen. She has to have an audience.

Instead of doing something constructive with her life after kate plus 8, like going back to college to get her masters in nursing, did she even think ahead that she could be Nurse to the Stars and have great clients? She could even flown on their private jet in case she was needed. Many famous take their makeup people and hairdressers.

No, she gets on twitter, acts like a stunted in time teenager and the rest is history.

Is she talking about the lint filter itself or some kind of a cover door? If it's the lint filter, hoe did it break in two? If it's the plastic around he mesh, wouldn't the mesh hold it together until she can get a replacement? The plastic on the bottom of my lint filter is cracked but it still works, I just have to be a little more careful when pulling it in and out to clean it but it certainly didn't break into two pieces.

Get a pink spoon. Girls like pink. (just kidding)

Millicent's advice is best, I think. Don't force it on her, just introduce it and let her set her own pace.

When my oldest son was potty training I bought a potty chair and put it in a main floor closet to make a little private bathroom for him (we lived in an older two-story home with one bathroom on the second floor). It turned into a popular place for his little neighborhood friends too. They all used the 'little bathroom' like it was a potty training truck stop. Good times.

Millicent, exactly the same with my son. The magic age seemed to be three...pre-school, and bingo, the teacher said that he stayed dry all day. Lots of praise, and he didn't want diapers anymore. After a week or so of this, the teacher said, "Your son is now potty trained." I don't remember that he ever had an accident. No pull-ups, no bed wetting...just went from diapers to Big Pants (Disney characters) and he was good to go. Easiest "training" ever.

My daughter, however, liked diapers and didn't want Good Girl Pants. She was three. I told her that I was tired of changing diapers and if she wanted to wear them, she could change them herself. She did this for a few days (it was funny to watch) and then she got tired doing it and decided it wasn't worth the effort. Bought regular panties and that was it. She knew when she had to "go" and she did.

My son was trained at 2 and his 1 year younger sister was trained at 18 months. She would see him on the potty and she would want her turn. Darn that was so easy.

As far as learning to tie shoes, etc. I made dolls (I saw them in a store and copied) that had things on them that showed kids how to tie shoes, button shirts, zipper jackets, etc. They loved to practice on them. It just takes a little time for them to learn. It is fun helping them this way also.

Potty training. We were stationed in Germany and my son went to the on post day care center. He was about 2 1/2 when I asked the day care personnel how much I owed them because they hadn't asked for diapers for a while. Imagine my surprise when they told me he was potty trained! Is it me, or does Kate have more broken appliance concerns than the average bear? High volume use can't be blamed as she has 2 or more of every appliance. I have noticed in many episodes how careless she is with so many things. She has been filmed numerous times throwing, slamming, or tossing items around. I also suspect that she may have been "annoyed" by her dishwasher problem, and taken it out on her dryer screen. Most, (if not all) of those appliances were new when they bought the house and should not be wearing out so easily.

Same thought. She seems the type to use and abuse nice things. She probably ignores routine maintenance recommendation and overworks things like running the dishwasher three times in a row or something so that it's getting all hot, or never cleaning out the dishwasher thing that catches food particles, whatever that is. We make it a habit to take that thing out and rinse it out thoroughly every so often. It's gross but the dishwasher doesn't have to work so hard when it's not all clogged up. Does she think about this? She also has an unbelievable history of broken iPhones. Sure sometimes people just have bad luck with iPhones or what have you. But it would be unusual to have such bad luck in everything she touches, which would lead people to believe it's not dumb bad luck it's carelessness. When it's no big deal to fix or replace things, you might not value them as much or take good care of them.

Fired Up 4 Kate ‏@MiloandJack 6h
@Kateplusmy8 Seriously though...what would be an inconvenience here is MAJOR 4U...large household dependent on those appliances every day!

(((

Um, Gladys, is it opposite day? She has the money, the time, and the spare dryer. It's LESS inconvenient for her

I've been busy so just catching up. This tweet cracks me up too:

Kate Gosselin ‏@Kateplusmy8 May 13
Taught Alexis meaning of 'All's well that ends well' when her am didn't go as planned&we had2make 'Plan B' together..IT WORKED! #LifeSkills

(((

When did she learn that life skill? She didn't have it during the Utah plane delay, the Disney ice cream meltdown, the Crayola fiasco, the "flooded" laundry room at the birthday party (there's another appliance), the "stress" of the free kitchen renovation (oh wait she did use Plan B then...get paid to go to a luxurious free beach house). Etc. Etc. Etc.

Admin: I agree with you. For a person who has just about 2 of everything, Kate sure manages to break them. Two dish washers, and she manages to break them. What the heck does she put in them? or do to them? It was also the washer, the treadmill(brand new), the car (it was less than 5 years.(my car is going on 12). She has 3. Didn't she trade get a new kids van too? Most normal people keep their cars etc, for more than 5 years. I agree, she does not maintain them well.

Has any noticed that, there was not a peep, in the media, about the tups turning 10? or Kate being ask to appear on any talk show or radio show? By the time TLC runs the special it won't be a special, but a bore, cause everyone, has seen pics of the kids,on twitter, thanks Kate for the update, and we have seen the twins already on the Today show and know what they look like. Just like CA, we already know, she got fired, and know most of the things they were doing on the show, so why bother to watch. JMO

For someone with a history of breaking stuff, TFW sure freaks out
when other people damage things! Remember when that stupid drawer knob fell off! That was a classic June Cleaver moment - her children cowering in fear saying, "Nobody did it." And TFW snapping, "Well, somebody did it, because I'm holding it!"

And how about when a $15 globe had the equator peeled off, and
TFW joined her kids in blaming and shaming one child who, it turns out, wasn't the culprit.

Why, yes I did. How did you guess? I also hung giant rubber tarantulas from the ceiling and sternly warned him they'd bite if he don't go pp. Worked like a charm! So don't forget to put those on your list, too :o)

Oh man. I hung red spoons around and her lovey just out of reach.

How's that?

I noticed. Hoping all these kids start getting the privacy they have always deserved. Oh wait, she's still tweeting. Nice that ROL doesn't seem to care anymore (knock wood).

++++++++++

I think that she only had a problem with one of the cars. The one that she traded (wrote that horrible blog about Mr. Tow Truck Man) had a history of manufacturer's issues. She traded the Land Cruiser for a Sequoia because she said the latter was bigger, and she bought the Benz to replace the van that she and Jon used. As far as I know, she hasn't whined about mechanical issues with the Toyota or Benz.

Sue, she would negotiate Steve to come along also, because he has to guard her body, carry her purse, her stethoscope, the thermometer, and the blood pressure kit.

Can't leave home without him!

IIRC, Robert seemed to mention numerous times in the book about following Kate to the dealership. It sounds like she always had the routine maintenance done at regular intervals and oil changes too. He would also follow her to a car detailer on a regular basis. OMG I am giving her props, but it sure seems like she does take care of her 3 (count 'em) 3 cars.
