Discovery pulls 'American Guns' from line-up

The Discovery Channel announced yesterday that they've cancelled their successful reality series about a Colorado family that restores firearms. They also won't be showing any reruns. Other shows have delayed or pulled episodes, including TLC's new special "Best Funeral Ever," which was pushed back to January. Actually growing a heart, or just concerned about bad PR? Sadly, probably the latter.

In other news, it was heartwarming to see the Red Cross blankets providing their intended comfort to those who need it. Several people were spotted wrapped in the blankets attending a memorial service on Sunday in Newtown.

If you get a chance it's worth going back and reading the comments on some of our Red Cross blanket threads during Red Cross-gate. They are funny, and informative.

Here is one from "What a Piece of Work". Is this a regular who used a different name, fess up! It pretty much sums up the entire controversy and where she went wrong--the pose wasn't the only thing Kate screwed up that day, which I'd forgotten about.

what a piece of work said... 3
Let's count the ways Kate screwed with the Red Cross, shall we?

1. Took their iconic blanket and used it in an inappropriate and disrespectful picture.

2. Used the opportunity to shoot a provocative photo some might call "come hither" and others might call "skanky" (or worse).

3. Trivialized the seriousness of the issue the charity was addressing by turning it into a photo op in her expensive, intact, unburned home,

4. In the process, made the picture all about HER, not the Red Cross.

5. Posted HER picture on HER website before the Red Cross got their page up.

6. Got the name of the Red Cross campaign wrong.

7. Most bizarrely of all, FAILED TO PROVIDE A LINK TO THE RED CROSS in the posting on her website.

8. Said "F.U." to the Red Cross by failing to either remove the picture from her own website or to supply RC with a more appropriate one when they asked her to do so.

9. Congratulated herself on Twitter for allegedly driving contributions with the controversy.

10. Failed to use the correct acronym for the charity when tweeting.

11. Put the Red Cross in the position of having to deal with huge fallout from her narcissistic choices for days now.

Did I miss anything?

Yes, the Red Cross should have known better, but who could ever have imagined a nightmare like this one? Nobody, but nobody, does PR like Kate Gosselin.

Then again I try not to remember a damn thing about kate other than the fact...she is a child and animal abuser!

Let's not forget the RC gala she attended and DID NOT tweet for donations at all until after. Then attacking that philly reporter for supposely taking pictures at the gala she did not want shown. What was her defense for not tweeting? She pointed to the RC and said they told her not to tweet! All the while other celebrites were tweeting in the same timeframe in question. She just didn't want to do anything but try to rub elbows with these people.

She wasn't invited back this year, eh? I wonder why!!!

What a nice treat it was to read of some of the random acts of kindness from the last thread! Those who have had their belongings returned to them, I do believe it is a gentle hug from above when that happens.

I got a phone call one night, caller ID said it was DD. But it wasnt. It was a man who said he had just found this phone at the Nashville airport and he called the most recent number on it (me!) to find it's owner. He told me he would leave with a bartender at one of the bars in the airport, I begged him to leave his name for DD. She got there in a few hours and retrieved her phone, but he never did leave his name.

There was a time when I was a teenager when I did something dumb and put myself in harms way, although ya dont realize it at the time. A strange man spent hours and got me home safely. It was years later before I realized what could have happened to me and I always wondered who he was and why he did such a wonderful thing for me. i'll never know.

So Kate's not so subtle grifting for Xmas presents worked. It's just beyond my comprehension that her "tweeties" feel this millionaire needs their gifts. What about Gosselins give back? It would be a very nice gesture for Kate to donate these gifts or plead with her fans to donate to the needy.
Shameful.

FYI said...

"(I don't have some of your tweety names to thank u personally!)"

Well, she should have their names and return addresses. Do you think she will send them personal thank-you cards? That is paperwork that she should definitely take care of.

IMO, it was nice that she did thank those that sent something, but it also seems like she's rubbing it in the noses of those that didn't.

Of course, she should have told her tweeties weeks ago not to send anything at all, but that's not Kate's MO. Forever the grifter--that's Kate.

On another note--last week(Dec.12) she tweeted that she had "coughing kids", now they're home from school with a "flu bug". But the other day they were all happy and excited. Seems like she's not getting enough "I admire you-your such a supermom" tweets, so now she's ramping it up.

Tucker's Mom said...

If I sent a present to the Gosselins, I'd be pissed that Kate issues a blanket tweet to thank the nameless gifters. How rude and careless that Kate can't put forth the effort to thank them personally.
I personally have too much pride to take from others what I can afford myself.
Once again, shameless.

Improbable Dreams said...

I don't think it's about her expressions of gratitude (such as they are). It's more about the air of expectation...as if these gifts are somehow owed to her and the kids. Gold platter, indeed.

Omg. I wish the sheeple would adopt a needy family for the holidays and give thoughtful gifts to them. Not to someone who already has everything she could ever possibly need.

Well, except a job.

Seriously, there are so many wonderful, gracious people who are in need. So many homeless shelters that run holiday gift drives. It floors me that Kate has the audacity to accept gifts and act all humble about it, when she grifts day in and day out.

Do the sheeple think this will win them Kate's eternal love? Do they just want to be acknowledged on her twitter?

I just don't get it.

I wanted to share this because, well, I like what it has to say.

Taken from: https://www.facebook.com/DoreenVirtue444

We Shall Overcome

Everyone’s asking “Why?” and “How can we make sure this never happens again?” about last week’s tragedy.

Lots of people are arguing for and against gun control; others are focused upon mental health; a few are talking about violent video games; some are discussing parenting issues; and many are posting youtube videos about “false flag” theories about the tragedy as an inside job to manipulate public opinion.

To me, the most important point is to keep our light shining. No matter what the facts are surrounding this event, we can all agree that it was a dark moment in our history.

With December 21 just a few days away, there’s already enough nervousness about our earth, without adding to the fear energy. Of course, December 21 is just another day, but the fear-energy surrounding it could attract negativity. We need to be pouring light onto our planet right now . . . not adding to the fear!

Let’s not allow this tragedy to bring about more darkness. Please don’t get pulled into gun control debates, as you’re probably not going to change anyone’s mind. Please don’t obsessively watch or read news about this event all day and night, because it’s just going to upset you and won’t undo what happened.

If you feel strongly about an issue like gun control, mental health, video games, or false flags, there are PEACEFUL ways to champion a cause.

In truly healthy ways, let’s honor the children and adults whose lives were tragically taken from them. Let’s pray, honor, and support the families who are left to grieve during the holiday season. Let’s support each other in our healing.

But enough with the morbid obsession and angry debates! Let’s focus upon life!

Working Woman.

Improbable, exactly. She doesn't deserve it more than anybody else.

I was talking to a woman in my dance class last night, she is one of 7 kids (don't worry, Kate, no competition). She was talking about what things were like for them around the holidays. She said that when her dad was working, they did pretty well and she and her siblings got presents. However, occasionally he would be laid off and would struggle financially. There dad was always honest with them and tell them that they may not get as many gifts that year, but he would make it up to them. Maybe they would have an extra special Christmas dinner or help out at a soup kitchen as a family. Giving warm memories when they couldn't give tangible gifts.

This is what a real life family is like. Some times are harder than others, you do what you can with it, because at the end of the day, you are still with the people you love.

Kate will never get this, and I fear her kids will not either. They have had strangers sending them gifts their whole lives. They don't know what it's like to not get what you want or to learn how to make the best out of a financially rough time.

Tucker's Mom said...

I think it's a terrible precedent to set for the kids to keep accepting gifts year after year after year. And Kate keeps on nudging her fans for more instead of shutting it down.
Those kids sure have a warped view of the world, where they have crooked houses, Cadillac cars and video games showered on them, on top of VIP treatment everywhere they go.

Here is an interesting quote from Joe Scarborough, who is conservative and NRA member, said this on his show Scarborough Country. ”the second amendment does not guarantee gun manufacturers the absolute right to sell military styled high caliber semiautomatic combat assault rifles with high capacity magazines to whoever the hell they want.”
Follow the money, that is what it always comes back to. Who profits from fear by selling more firearms and ammunition? Gun manufacturers of course, and apparently quite a few investment forms that have stock in them.
Early days of HIV epidemic, some denied HIV caused AIDS. I recall one of that groups major funders was a porn publisher. Follow the money, an interesting concept.
The second amendment was written in 1776 or thereabouts. Anyone should have free unencumbered access to any firearm you could have purchased in, let's say, 1780. Black powder and musket balls anyone?

Exactly! Where is the shame??? Listen I have no problem if people truly in need have to depend on the kindness of others for Christmas. But my hunch is that most of those people have tried EVERYTHING else before resorting to charity, and that is NOT her and she knows it. She already talked at length about all the presents she is buying including IPODS so we KNOW it's not like the kids aren't getting presents this year.

And another point? I wouldn't want kids to think that they're always going to get an endless supply of gifts showered on them from thin air. It's not good for them. What will the kids do when they are teenagers and awkward and the cuteness is gone and no fan cares anymore? How will that make them feel? For that reason alone I would tell them to knock it off.

A final element is I wouldn't trust random gifts especially wrapped ones from people I don't know. She always talks about how hated she is, what makes her think any of these things are safe to open? Could be some crazy trying to hurt them. She's nuts.

Tucker's Mom said...

I'm waiting for Kate to tweet about her new Dyson that was sent to her.

The kids must feel somehow guilty that Jon was stripped of everything and Kate took him for everything she could so they can live lavishly.

There are few things Joan Crawford did right, but one of the things I actually liked was that when fans would send gifts, she let her kids accept one gift from the fans, and the rest were given to children's charities.

The kids had everything in terms of gifts. She didn't deprive them of anything materially. They didn't need MORE crap from fans. Other needy children could really use them. When even Joan Crawford knows it's wrong to accept gifts from fans, it's pretty bad.

Admin , this has got to be up there on the list with her worst moments... Accepting gifts from strangers when, a month and a half ago, thousands of people here on the coast lost everything. The sense of entitlement makes me sick to my stomach.

Ha, I was one of the ones who patted her on the back for donating to Toys for Tots, and thought it was great to see her be selfless for once. Does it even count as a selfless donation when you're probably getting the same value of gifts given to you by sheeple?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Speaking of Jon, if she is serious about keeping this stuff the decent thing to do is to give half of them to Jon for him to have the kids open on his custody Christmas time. The gifts are for THEIR kids, not HER kids.

It's a direct contribution to parental alienation to make your Christmas as over the top as possible while Dad's is just mediocre.

Maybe I'm crazy for saying this, but I for one am thrilled that mental health has become the forefront of the debate and I think it's good people are reading a lot about this tragedy and discussing it. I wouldn't call the vast majority of the debates "angry." A minority, maybe. Most people I've talked to, or read their work, or read posts on this blog, or watched on TV, are very level headed.

That article is kind of meaningless in my humble opinion. Focus on light? Huh? To me, understanding and trying to improve our mental health system, firearms system, and other weaknesses, IS good and IS focusing on light.

What I also wonder is what kind of confusion and resentment comes with one parent having an over the top excessive lavish Christmas while the other one has a normal one. Does it work, do they like the lavish one better? Do they start to resent the other one for it not being as nice? Do they see through the "buying their love" that is obviously going on? Is it wrong that I am still incredibly bothered and ticked off and Kate's "mediocre" comment that she made over a year and a half ago? I am not one to hold a grudge, but that comment was unredeemable.

The funny part is, the tweeple who send her gifts and wet themselves with excitement when she acknowledges it on twitter, that's all they are to Kate, sadly: mediocre.

These are real, living people Kate is dealing with. I may not agree with their blind worship of her, but they don't deserve to be treated like they exist to shower Kate with praise and presents. Of course, though, they allow it to happen.

Kate would be lucky to be called "mediocre". The way she treats and uses people and lives her life is in no way, shape or form, mediocre. It's downright shitty.

She has a history of this. It's her MO. A leopard doesn't change its spots. The return address would be on the package. Even if you don't know who it's from (can't reconcile the real name with the tweetie name), you still send a thank you note to the name on the label. You don't tweet a THX on a public forum. What a doofus with no manners whatsoever. If these sheeple took the time to choose a gift, wrap it and mail it, then she can take the time to thank each one individually.

She knew this was coming well in advance. She should have strongly suggested that she needs NOTHING, and if they really wanted to do anything for her family at Christmas, make it known that what she REALLY wants are any donations or gifts sent to the charity of their choice.

The fact that she put the thanks out on twitter was her way of saying that she's still a celebrity with a fan base, and see...people still care about me. The thanks should never have been made public. It's her way of bragging.

Sadly I have seen this pattern time and time again when it comes to kids who are given too much.

It's been a tough month. 17 year old close family friend has been given everything he could want in his young life. Beautiful home, the best education, trips to Europe, Africa, South Asia, all over the U.S., cruises, the best Christmases, a house full of every toy, gadget, material thing he could ever want or need. Now, he has turned to drugs and gotten kicked out of school. Why, when he has everything he could want? I often wonder in the process of giving kids everything they want, are you depriving him of that wonderful feeling of anticipation, of waiting for something you really want or working really hard for it yourself. If there is nothing to look forward to, drugs may replace that feeling. There are so many reasons kids turn to drugs, but I firmly believe this played a major role for him. He is getting help now, and this Christmas, he won't be coming home. Sad, but he is where he needs to be.

I have worried the same for the Gosselins. When they have done "everything" where is the anticipation in life of something great you can work and wait for around the corner? They've already seen every corner. They may look to increasingly destructive ways to get the natural high mediocre get.

Anonymous said...

Working Woman

Admin I am glad you're family friend is getting the help he needs. Best of luck to him and his family.

Knocking on wood that nothing that extreme happens with the Gosselins. But they are learning NOTHING about how the real world works and about how you have to earn things and learn something from them.

It's the same way I always felt when Kate would justify her exploitive show by saying that the kids never would have seen all those different parts of the world if it hadn't been for that show. And why exactly does a 6-year-old need to see Alaska? Hawaii? Those types of learning experiences mean a whole lot less to a 6-year-old than it would to a 30 year old, who has worked for it and lived in anticipation for it and knows how special it is.

Not to mention its offensive to everyone who had a childhood different than that of the Gosselins. I guess I'm worse off than they are because I haven't seen different parts of the world yet and don't have strangers showering me with gifts. I think not actually.

admin, it's widespread right now in PA. Our entire family was hit, including me, and I normally am immune. I'm still not over it. When it goes around in school, there's not too much you can do about it. Our local station did a snippet on it recently, reporting that flu season is hitting earlier here than usual, and it's predicted to get worse. I can hardly wait. I need to stock up on extra sheets.

"Thanks Kate. You've just answered the question about why they're called "stupid sheeple"."

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Yes, and a troll passed by here recently and slapped bloggers for calling sheeple "stupid." They are just that, and if the shoe fits, wear it. Nobody with anything upstairs would send gifts to someone who has everything. They KNOW that she is well off and they continue to do this. In the case of scamming money out of church-goers, that was different. Most of them were unaware at the time that she had purchased a 1.2 million dollar home. They believed her and her "praise the Lord" rantings and thought that their donations really were in the name of "love."

Three years later, however, because of Twitter, they do know that she's not hurting financially, and yet they continue to send gifts. That's stupid...there's no other word. If it makes us look like we are intellectually superior to the sheeple who send her gifts, then yes, we are. We're not dumb enough to be taken in by grifting schemes.

Amy2 said...

My concern for the kids is what happens when they find out that the gifts Kate is giving them are really from fans. Do they start to wonder why Kate didn't make an effort to actually buy them gifts. Or could the fan gifts be a part of Kate's gifts and the kids not knowing who really picked out the gifts. And on the other end of the issue, does it really matter to children if the gifts came from a fan or Mom?

NJGal51 said...

My take on the whole thing is that Kate is not receiving very many gifts from fans and this is her way of getting them to pony up. They'll see that @soandso got a shout out from Kate and they'll want the same. They can still ship via FedEx and it will be there in time for Christmas.

The Toys For Tots donation? Wasn't that part of the admission fee for the LV run or maybe just sponsored by R&R? Kate didn't give freely out of the kindness of her heart.

I am afraid that Kate may be raising a bunch of little Veruca Salts. You lean what you live and Kate has always had the "don't care how, I want it now" mentality. And which Christmas will the G8 like better? If Kate's tweets are to be believed they'll want the lavish Christmas where they will receive the iPods that Jon probably can't afford. I wonder if Kate realizes that with the iPods must come the gift cards for the iTunes store. An iPod won't do you much good if you can't download your songs and things.

OrangeCrusher1 said...

So basically what we have here is a vicious cycle of besotted fans determined to send gifts to a rich fame whore in the hopes of some personal blowback from her which translates to vague tweets AND said fame whore who is so self-entitled that there will never be enough gifts and personal attention in her pathetic life. I think that pretty much sums it up. Sandy? Newtown? Why let the real world get in the way of holiday grifting.

A few toys dropped in a Toys for Tots bucket does not even begin to address her shameless exploitation of her ever shrinking fan base. Sorry, Kate, you do not know the real meaning of this season, and I am not a Christian.

Exactly. And it's bad not to have seen the world at 6 why?? Kids appreciate travel more anyway when they are older or adults. It's fine to travel but you are not depriving a 6 year old of anything by not going to Alaska and Australia. Sheesh.

Another example of adults imposing their needs and wants on little kids. Few little kids even understand the concept of travel let alone care unless it somehow involves Disney or 6 flags.

I'm sure you and your family feel the same way I did when there was such a wonderful anonymous man in my life too! We lived in the country with narrow, winding roads w/barely a shoulder. Around 11pm one night my doorbell rang, and when answered, there stood a total stranger, holding my limp 16 year old in his arms!

He said he had seen her, staggering on the road, and when he stopped to help, she was obviously in some sort of trouble. When he approached her, she went through a fence and ran from him. He was afraid to leave her, obviously in trouble, alone in the dark, so he went through the fence after her. He said she ''runs like a deer''!!, but he finally caught her, wrapped his arms around and calmed her by telling her over and over, ''Let me take you to your mother''. I was sobbing with gratitude, thanking him, squeezing my baby, talking to her, trying to discover what happened....and I realized the man was gone!

DD had been on the way home from a study group, and went onto the shoulder of the road, over-corrected, hit a big rock, which sent her car airborne, through a fence and WAY down the hill, into a (thank goodness) dry pond! At night, her car was so far away and down in the dry pond that we couldn't even see it from the road.

She was fine, thanks to the kindness and endurance of that man....who finally managed to catch my daughter, a member of the cross-country track team, who ran more than ten miles twice a day!!

I'm happy I can say, in another context, what a world...what a world!!

The stupidest trip that didn't happen was Korea. Seriously? 5 year olds schlepped to Korea?
All that was was Kate looking to get ogled and adored as the Caucasian mother with Asian children. There is no other reason as the kids can not appreciated such a trip at that age. She wanted attention.

He ay not remembr the trips and places but he has good memories of the things we did as a family and that's what counts.

Our granny had accelerating dementia and we had told my husband's parents they needed to take her car away, which they did not. She ended up at a grocery store, crying, because she didn't know where she was. She had moved to their town so they could watch her. But she forgot. The police were called and she told them she lived in her old town, at least 90 miles away. They asked if she could find her way and she said yes. Some kind soul was uncomfortable with that. His mom lived in her old town, so he said he would drive her home (90 miles!) and visit his mom and then take the ferry back to Seattle where his wife could pick him up. And he did it! So they pull up to the house and she remembered the garage door code - and the house was empty (for sale) and she was hysterical, thinking she was robbed. Imagine what this poor guy was thinking at this point. He was driving her car, the neighbors came over immediately to see why she was there. The inlaws were called and went and fetched her and drove him back too. It could have been catastrophic if he had criminal intent, she could have just disappeared without a trace.
Her car keys were gone that day.

Working Woman here

Remona, what a story! I am so glad that man found your daughter and brought her home to you.

I have a kindness story :) Last summer, I was driving down to College Park with my mom and my sister to visit. We were driving my moms new car, which was actually not "new " but a 1999 Sentra that she had bought her boyfriend's mother's old boss.

The car had been leaking some kind of fluid, we weren't sure what it was and falsely assumed it was water that had gotten stuck somewhere during a rain storm. It was actually steering wheel fluid.

By the time we were en route to College Park, this had been happening for several days. So, about an hour into the ride, when we were on the highway in relatively heavy traffic, my mom suddenly just completely lost control of the car. I'm talking car spinning around, moving across lanes like a ping pong ball, hitting the guard rail and full speed, and then banging into another car. I couldn't tell you how long it lasted, it seemed to last forever but was probably only 20 seconds or so. Eventually, we stopped and thank goodness, everybody was fine physically, as was the man who was in the car we hit. My mom was able to drive the wrecked car to the shoulder.

But I have never been so shaken up in my life. I had actually thought almost for certain that I was going to die, or that my mom or sister would. We were all crying and horrified while we waited for the cops to arrive.

The cops took a while to get to us, and we all just wanted them to arrive so this we could leave this awful scene. By that point, we had caused a gaper delay. A young man pulled over and asked if we were alright. My mom said. "Yes but this is the worst day ever." He smiled and responded. "No, this is the most beautiful day ever - you all are still alive and well."

He waited with us until the police came, so we wouldn't be alone. He had some snacks in a bag that he gave to us to munch on, since it was around lunch time. And before he got back in his car, he thanked us for inadvertently reminding him to say his prayers that night. What an amazing, truly memorable person. He really made a difference in what was a scary, awful situation for us and I will never forget it.

Not to mention the sheeple don't care one bit about what lavishing the kids with presents they don't need could be doing to them psychologically. They just care about getting attention from Kate. I have a random act of kindness Christmas story.

I was leaving to go to my daughter's for Christmas on a Sunday. She lives 4 hours away from me. I had a few errands to run before I left, but when I went to start my car, it was dead. I conveniently have a gas station across the street, so I went there but the attendant couldn't leave to help because he was the only person there.

I have jumper cables, but since none of my neighbors were home, I had no other car to help jump my car. There is a 7-11 store next door to me, so hoping beyond hope, I went there to see if someone could help give me a jump. One of the customers saw how upset I was, and said that as soon as he finished paying for his stuff, he would be right over. He drove a taxi.

My car was parked in my garage facing forward, so he had to push my car out of the garage, in order to get the cars lined up. He could see how upset I was, and I told him my travel plans.

After he got my car started, he told me to let the car run for a bit, then go do my errands. He gave me his cell phone number and told me that if I got stuck again to call him and he would come help me. I offered to pay him for his trouble and he refused. I really wanted him to accept payment, because through all this he was getting calls for fare pickups, and told the dispatcher to get someone else, because he was helping a customer. Yet, he adamantly refused any form of payment.

I couldn't thank him enough, I was literally crying with gratitude. He told me that he was more than happy to help, and the only thanks he needed was to know that my grandchildren would get to see their grandma on Christmas. He made me promise to call him when I got to my daughter's and again, when I got safely home, which I did.

The kindness of this stranger touched me deeply. He only told me his first name which was Fred. Every year on Christmas, I think of him and say "Merry Christmas, Fred!".

Yes, I do believe in angels.

The jealous accusation is like the sheeple's default argument now. They have nothing else!

Please grow up, Milo. If you actually think you love eight kids you don't even know, whose mother you don't even know, you need help. If you feel that giving to those kids, who have plenty, makes more sense than listening to our suggestions of giving them to a charity, you a BEYOND help.

I work with the disadvantaged, and hear some horrific stories. On Monday, a lady came in and announced her husband had dropped dead on Tuesday. What do you say to that? She is obviously still in shock and needed to talk. They lost their house to foreclosure in October. They are living in an RV. She heard a big crash and found him on the floor, tried to revive him, but he was already gone. He was the sole breadwinner. She is too young for his social security benefits. She barely works part time (not by her choice). We just held her hand and listened and gave her some resources to research. It is a helpless feeling.
Earlier, a mom came in to inquire about the Federal energy assistance program. The baseboard heaters in their house don't work and they are heating with wood only. They ran out of wood. She has a child with seizure disorder and they are all bundled up inside the house with no heat.
And Kate's tweeties think we are jealous. I speak only for myself, but I am disgusted. There are thousands of these stories all over the country, especially east coast now.

I was just going to post that I got an email from JCPenny about their outerwear sale. Great prices.
Last year, you all inspired me to see how much outerwear I could get for around $100, because you had amazing stories of savings and sales. DH and I wound up getting 4 coats, hats and mittens and donated to our area Catholic Charities Thrift Shop.
So, I'm going to take advantage of Penny's amazing prices again and buy coats and snow bibs for kids.
#26actsofkindness--DH and I bought a couple Holiday holly arrangements at the farmers market this past Sat. We gave one to our neighbor who is recovering from surgery and one to our neighbor who just had to put her husband in a long term care facility after a precipitous decline due to Alzheiemers. She's really devastated and lonely without him, and this Christmas is going to be very tough. She's been amazingly strong and she really appreciated the small gesture.

Kate's fans wanting to send her gifts also speaks to their needs as well.

Most people that give anonymously (toys for tots, salvation army, etc), give with no expectation of a 'thank you'.

Kate's fans, on the other hand, need to have some sort of public shout out of thanks via tweet or 'dm'..they have their own selfish reasons and/or insecurities for giving to celebrities. The giver and recipient feed off each other.

Someone upthread suggested that Kate may give the kids the gifts, but Robert stated that she puts them aside for use throughout the year for good behavior incentives.

Another poster thought she should give them to Jon and let him give the kids the gifts...In Kate's mind, shecan't do that, she EARNED those gifts--on twitter.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if Kate gave the kids the gifts and said they were from her??

She also said she'd be praying every day for those affected--but did she even go to church on Sunday?

Nothing is too low and too cheap for Kate when it comes to the children. Every little thing a nutfan sends is one less thing she has to purchase, unless it is a stuffed animal of course. Kate feels totally and completely entitled to demand, hint, beg for, expect and accept these items. No human on the planet earth has ever had such trials and tribulation as Katie Irene and if these little trinkets can soothe her rocky path in life, then who is she to say no.

What is troubling for the children is a probable sense of entitlement, from society, from strangers, merely because they exist. Gifts are not being given to them by their cheap and angry mother, but material items are being sent to them by total strangers merely because they breathe.

So items given are not an expression of an affectionate relationship, they are simply additional expressions of entitlement from strangers. And these entitlements from strangers are expected, BY KATE, to fill the void in the children's lives that she deliberately leaves in them. Voids of affection and approval. She would rather her sheeple send things to dump in this void rather than Kate have to bother to be a mother.

We can argue till we are blue in the face with Kate about this, but we might as well be speaking "asian" to her while her only language is 'european'. Something has misfired in her brain chemestry and she just has abnormal thought processes when it comes to her own sense of entitlement and self pity. It's just like a short circut in the a wiring panel; you cannot scold it into rerouting itself.

Sorry, I'm just not understanding this. Kate can't be shamed - we've seen it over how many years? The list is endless of the horrible things she's done and she's almost never been called out on any of them. It's doubtful she'll even look at the mail and if she does, it'll simply say to her 'look how important my kids are and we need a tv show to keep them out in the public eye. so many people love them they donate on their behalf!" I'll continue to donate locally and to those in need from the Hurricane. Giving Kate any acknowledgement just doesn't sit well with me.

If we write a check to a local social services organization, for example, do we say it's in honor of the G kids? Many of our organizations here will send a card or e-mail to the family and say that a donation has been made in their honor.

Kate would get an e-mail (which she probably wouldn't read anyway) saying that a donation has been made in honor of the kids...or she might get a card. Some charities do send out cards via snail mail. Do we include her e-mail address/city address so she knows that a donation has been made in their honor? The problem is, though, she would have OUR names and addresses as being the person sending the donation unless we request that it's anonymous. I have no concern about her knowing who is sending the donation, but perhaps some folks do.

"They are living in an RV. She heard a big crash and found him on the floor, tried to revive him, but he was already gone. He was the sole breadwinner. She is too young for his social security benefits."

==================

Does she have children? There are survivors benefits and if she has children, she can collect at any age if she takes care of his children who are under age 16 or disabled. Each of the children can also collect.

They were very insistent that she and her daughter come to the Christmas party on Saturday night (that sort of made me gasp) so hopefully they are planning on doing something. But it's a short-term solution.

I do not think it is a good ifea to donate in honor of the G8. More spotlight for them and it will get twisted around to benefit Kate. And giving should be done out of love, not to shame someone.

So what if Kate gets "credit"? Charities aren't about getting credit. It's about making sure needy kids have a nice Christmas just like rich ones.

Not to be a party pooper. Hopefully all the various charities you donate to in Kate's kids' names won't get the mistaken idea Kate has asked her beloved fans to do that and she ends up with bogus publicity.

--------

I think that's exactly what will happen. This gives the illusion she still has fans - fans with money who'll donate on her family's behalf.

Not to mention one of more of Kate's fans tweeting Babble or some other online gossip source with information crediting Kate. I wouldn't put it past some of them. I'll withhold names I have in mind. I don't want my donations to have Kate's Gosselin's name anywhere close.

Working Woman here

When I donated, giving the Gosselins home or email address was optional, I chose not to.

I sent the following email to Kate:

Hi Kate,

My name is (insert) and I'm from Philadelphia. I wanted to let you know that, in honor of the holidays, I donated (insert amount) to my local Ronald McDonald House in honor of you children.

This wonderful organization was so accommodating to you and your family in your time of need, and they help so many others all throughout the year

While I appreciate that your fans care about you and your children, I felt that this type of gesture was much more appropriate than sending a tangible gift as a perfect stranger, as many are choosing to do.

This is what Christmas is truly about. I wanted to let you know that your kids were involved in something special.

Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday.

I'm not expecting a response but I hope she gets it and can take the hint. :)

No one knows who the G8 are except people involved. You don't have to donate by name, just g8 or nothing at all. I just feel like instead of getting mad about her grifting go turn it around and make something good out of it.

I donate to Ronald McDonald anyway and love doing it, the only difference this time is I put in honor of the Gosselin Children. Honesty, RMH couldn't care less, they just appreciate a donation for what it is.

In my respectful opinion, this doesn't put the kids in the spotlight at all. It's an anonymous donation, there are other Gosselin children I could be referring to. Nothing was mailed to them or anything like that, it won't be on television.

For me, it's not about shaming, it's about making up for what could and should have been given to a good cause but was instead given to Kate.

I agree with those who think it's a bad idea to donate something in the name of the Gosselin children. It doesn't sit right with me at all, as it will only bring more attention to the Gosselin children. Kate uses her children enough, I don't think anyone else should use them even if it is for charitable purposes.

If I want to donate anything in the name of any children, it will be in the name of those precious children who lost their lives in Newtown, CT.

I appreciate what you guys are saying about not involving the G children. But, with that logic, what about this blog? We talk about their mother and often them too. I don't see how one is putting them in the spotlight any more than the other.

I respect anyone who is not comfortable with this action, and everyone should donate as they wish. :) But I don't feel it's harmful to them at all.

I don't think the kids ever see these gifts at Christmastime. I think we've been told that Kate puts them away and doles them out through the year as incentives. So, if J is good in March he gets the Lego that Mrs. Anonymous
sent at Christmas. Unwrapped, of course, to make it look like Mommy was the benefactor. If Mommy is the one who hands the Lego to J, then it must be from Mommy, right? Good boy. Mrs. Anonymous? Who's she, right J?

Long timer, thank you for the support, dear. But that's not actually what I was trying to get across. I meant that I don't feel a donation would put the kids in the spotlight any more or less than a blog does.

But I don't really feel we keep Kate in the spotlight. She's barely in the spotlight and the little attention she receives is usually elicited by something on her twitter account or an event that she is going to.

Particularly in recent posts, we also discuss many things other than Kate. :)

I for one would wholeheartedly support that. I haven't been to this site for several days, in part because of the Christmas hustle and bustle, but also in part because my heart has been aching so badly for the loss of life in Newton, CT. I tear up every time I think of it. I certainly have no answers, but I do think we could take a page from something they did in Australia following a similar massacre.

"Twelve days after the worst mass murder in Australian history, when 35 people were shot to death at Tasmania state’s Port Arthur tourist mecca in 1996, the government issued sweeping reforms of the country’s gun laws. There hasn’t been a mass shooting since, and suicides, deaths by firearms and robberies at gunpoint have plummeted."

At some point, I hope we as a nation will have a rational discussion and enact laws that are reasonable to both gun owners and to the average citizen.

Amen Admin, "Just when I thought she can't get any more despicable, I can't believe in light of Sandy and Newtown this rich bitch is accepting gifts and not telling people to donate to those who are REALLY in need."

As disgusted as I am with Kate's blanket Twitter thanks to the sheeple who've sent gifts, I scratch my head about the senders too.
I just don't understand why in the world they are wasting their money sending the Gosselins gifts.

Do they think she can't afford to buy gifts for the kids by herself?
Do they think their gift will actually make an impact on them and they'll be remembered for it?
Do they yearn for recognition from her?
Do they not have family and friends that would appreciate the gesture more than what they'll ever get from Kate?
Do they not know that she's a millionaire and that their gift means so little to her that it'll probably end up in the trash?
IMO, she's dumping the gifts without even opening them which is the reason for her blanket TY via twitter - or she's just that incredibly ungrateful and rude & won't thank them personally. IF she wanted to thank them individually she could use the return addy on the pkg or mailing label.

And more importantly, do they not know their generosity is lost on her and that, especially in these tough times, they could actually be doing some good by giving to someone who would really appreciate it?

I just don't get it. Are they really that blind?

Reading about acts of kindness took me way back 58 years to when I was 11, paralysed with polio, and going to the Red Cross daily for Physio and O.T. At the time I was unable to walk.

My Mom sent me in a taxi every day with the same driver. One day he said he was getting tired of carrying me into the building, and that I had to learn to walk.

Every day for months he painstakingly supported me down the sidewalk and up the steps, one foot after the other, until I could do it on my own.He would carry me into the house when we got home to my house, and my Mom didn't know about the work we had been doing.

Finally the day came when I was able to walk very slowly up the sidewalk by myself, and climb the steps into my house. My Mom stood on the porch and cried.

The next day I had a different taxi driver. When my Mom called to see what had happened to my original friend, the dispatcher said he had quit his job that morning, saying that his job was done.

We never could find him to thank him but needless to say I believe in Angels; he certainly must have been one!

PS The physio and OT helped too; I'm not meaning to diminish their value!

http://www.slate.com/blogs/crime/2012/12/16/gun_control_after_connecticut_shooting_could_australia_s_laws_provide_a.html

A brief blurb from the article:
"At the heart of the push was a massive buyback of more than 600,000 semi-automatic shotguns and rifles, or about one-fifth of all firearms in circulation in Australia. The country’s new gun laws prohibited private sales, required that all weapons be individually registered to their owners, and required that gun buyers present a “genuine reason” for needing each weapon at the time of the purchase. (Self-defense did not count.)"

Hope this helps clarify. I am sorry - I just assumed if people were interested in the subject, they would search out for more information themselves.

I doubt that she'd go to that much trouble. She probably wouldn't get much money, and she'd have to pay eBay and PayPal fees. If you remember, Robert said that he DID take photos of things...one time he mentioned having it all spread out on his kitchen table. I also remember him saying that if she called him a liar, or sued him, everything he has photos of, and physically kept would be made public. In my opinion, THAT is the reason she and Laverne and Shirley haven't sued him. Should they sue him for libel and/or slander, every single thing he has would then be revealed.

SaveTheWorldFromEvilKate said...

I agree Admin #174. Have you read that there are talks again about being able to sue gun manufacturers if a death was caused? That's ridiculous to me. What's next, suing knife manufacturers, cooking or not, car manufacturers, rope manufacturers, etc., etc. The person is accountable for their actions (aside from mental illness) not their weapon of choice whether it be a gun, wooden spoon or a screwdriver.

I don't agree with donating anything in the Gosselin kids name aside from maybe to a child abuse group and the Ronald McDonald House as that is something they are associated with. If at all possible Kate would try to get credit for any donation and just the thought of that makes me ill, not because I can't stand her, but because the person donating did it out the goodness of his/her heart and Kate would bring hate amd her own greediness into that.

I also think that any gifts the kids received from sheeple will never recieve a thank you from the kids because Kate will take credit for the presents she puts away for "good behavior" for example, lying for her saying they want to spend all of Christmas with her or they miss filming so much.

AuntieAnn said...

Hey sheeple...in case you don't know, here's what she does with your gifts:
(Snipped from Robert Hoffman's book)

In 2010 at Thanksgiving, I was camped outside of her front gate working, when a lovely Mennonite woman drove up with a beautifully adorned gift bag for Kate. As a reporter for US Weekly, I needed to know what was inside, so I asked. The nice woman reluctantly showed me the contents. I could see she was disgusted by my presence, being the ‘paparazzi’ and all as she called me, but she was still gracious enough to remove the gift that she brought for Kate to show me. She had hand-carved and painted three beautiful rectangular blocks of wood for Kate to put on her mantle, or a table or shelf. Each block had a single word. “Faith. Family. Friends.” This woman was from Hebron, Kentucky but visiting family in Kate’s hometown of Elizabethtown, PA, and she drove an hour to bring the gift to Kate. She rang the buzzer on the intercom for a few minutes but got no response. Kate was at home and there’s a camera on the intercom box so it’s very possible that she saw the woman dressed in conservative Mennonite clothing, but there was still no response.

The woman left the bag inside of the front gate for Kate to pick up the next time she came down the driveway. The next day, I was back at the house doing my job, when I noticed in the trashcan out front, the very same gift bag that the lady left for Kate. I picked it out of the trash and wasn’t surprised to see that the beautiful hand-carved were still in the bag along with the letter from the lady. The envelope was opened and the letter was torn in half and thrown out with the next day’s trash. I liked the blocks and the words on them and the woman who brought them, so I brought them home and gave them to my mother for her next birthday. She keeps them proudly displayed on her piano for everyone to see. The letter that Kate tore in half and threw away reads:

Dear Kate –   I made this gift not knowing who to give it to. Then it came to me – You! We all need these 3 in our life. Friends – during times of trouble in one’s life, this is a test of who your real/ true friends are. Family – is next. Unfortunately, some have betrayed you. We can’t choose our family. We are born into one.   Faith – is at the top. Our friends will leave us, our family will disappoint us but one thing for sure, God will never leave us or forsake us.   Kate, Happy Thanksgiving. May the Lord be with you. Take care & God Bless!

In Kate or any celebs defense I would never touch a bag from a fan left outside my gate nor accept any gifts from fans. Too dangerous.. Only problem is Kate does appear to accept some gifts if she likes them. Either you accept them all or you don't accept any, but picking and choosing is awful.

Correction...That should read I picked it out of the trash and wasn’t surprised to see that the beautiful hand-carved BLOCKS were still in the bag along with the letter from the lady.

Admin, fair enough. It could be dangerous. But then God knows what could be in those boxes from UPS. It does make you wonder what some sickos have sent her too. Oh the trials of being a famous star. Poor thing.

Right either they are all dangerous or not. You don't get to cherry pick.

I think they said in the Justin Bieber doc he never accepts gifts. I think it was him. Anyway many don't.

Kate's accepting and in fact, encouraging gifts is kinda crazy if you think about it. There are crazy people out there and she schleps strangers' packages into her home all the time.

Still, someone must have at least looked inside that bag in order for it to end up in the garbage. If it wasn't Kate it was probably Mr. Bodyguard Man who reported the contents of the bag back to her. Either way the gift ended up getting tossed.

Stupid Mennonite woman...doesn't she know Kate likes cash? #snark

I'm posting a poem that was taped to our kitchen door at work. It is a take off of the Night Before Christmas, and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Twas 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38, when 20 beautiful children stormed through Heaven's gate.

Their simles were contagious, their laughter filled the air, they aoulc hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.

They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say. They remembered nothing of what happened earlier that day.

"Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse. "This is Heaven," declared a small boy. "We're spending Christmas at God's house."

When what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior; the children gathered near.

He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. Then he opened His arms and He called them by name.

And in that moment was joy, that only Heaven can bring; those children all flew into the arms of their King.

And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.

And as if He could read all the questions she had, He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."

Then He looked down on earth, the world far below, He saw all the hurt, the sorrow, and woe.
Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, "Let my power and presence re-enter this land!"

"May this country be delivered from the hands of the fools. I'm taking back My nation, I'm taking back My schools!"

Then He and the children stood up without a sound, "Come now My children, let Me show you around."

Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran; all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.

And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, "In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Obviously someone who doesn't live anywhere near Kate. What do neighbors think and report about Kate?

See my comment #140 above. It will explain who this tweeter is. Basically, she's one of the Kate's enablers whose main job is to attack the non-fans.

Also meant to add--if you take a look at her twitter account, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

MJ, they've been told over and over all the things you asked. They are absolutely convinced that all those things are LIES, told by people that hate KK. It's kinda sorta like loving a parent or sibling or child, no matter what. I think that they probably have 'issues'...some appear to be what my old Auntie called ''unhinged''

+++++++++++++++++

It's also very much like the Jim Jones/Guyana tragedy. A cult follows a leader. Brainwashing to the point where reasoning falls on deaf ears.

***********

I agree. No matter how much time passes nor how often it's discussed, the Kate/sheeple co-enabling behavior never ceases to amaze & profoundly disappoint me -- especially with the current economy and in light of the many recent tragedies in this country.

To a fault, I'm an eternal optimist. I know rationally that they won't change, but in my heart I still wish they'd open their eyes and see what is right in front of them. What's that saying, "there is none so blind as those who will not see"?
Kate won't/can't see because of her narcissism, but the sheeple are another animal (HA) altogether.
I worry about the teens who are so misguided that they have a washed up, child abusing, reality tv mom as their idol and about the kids who are being parented by the young moms who model their parenting styles after Kate's.

And, I'm sad that Kate who could help so many in need with just a simple tweet, refuses and instead continues to grift day after day and is proud of it.

Ignore my rambling. I think I need a pick-me-up Rumspringa before I sit down to wrap the last batch of Christmas presents. Anyone want to join me? ;-)

Good article, Tucker's Mom, thanks. It's all pretty consistent about what kind of person Kate has been for a long time, maybe her entire life. She's not going to change. That's what I was thinking, that the tweeter was not in the area or that the tweet was a joke.

The locals were actually the very first to catch onto Kate. They were ticked about their tax dollars. They should be commended for speaking out when it wasn't popular to do so. Especially when the kids were so little and cute and they were such a sweet looking family. They saw through the scam and spoke up.

And thanks to you too. I missed the above discussion of this somehow! I am embarrassed to be as clueless as Kate although I thought it was fishy...

Regarding my post at #190, I forgot to add the author's name: Cameo Smith. Don't know who this person is, but a co-worker loved the poem, copied it, and posted it at work.

The REALLY strong person was my Mom, who knew if she helped me every time I needed to move from one place to the other, I would never do it myself.

She stayed in the kitchen, singing at the top of her lungs and doing the dishes, when she knew I was trying to get from the chair to the sofa, or into the bathroom. She only helped when I absolutely could not do it.

I can't imagine how hard it must have been as a mother, for her to hear her child struggling to move from place to place and to realize that NOT helping her was the best way for her to get better. I don't think I could have done it with my children. She was completely selfless; her own need to help didn't even enter into it.

It was an honour and a privilege for me to look after her when she became demented after a stroke, remembering her loving care when I was a child.
