1940's House: Part 2

The pursuit of happiness in hard times

Many of the great moments of 1940s House involved watching the Hymers experience the hardships of life in the 1940s while still finding a way to create fun and joy during long days of rations, bomb raids and frightening news of war. The Hymers truly took the experience to heart, and the lessons they learned that continued even after the experience were inspiring.

For fun during "wartime," they took a "holiday at home," by going on a picnic nearby and visiting a local cave. Holidays at home were encouraged by the British government, because traveling far was too dangerous, expensive, and would clog the roads the military needed.

After it was over, Ben and Thomas, the children, talked about creating fun without the T.V. or Playstation, such as creating their own board game or building a treehouse. Granny Lynn writes more handwritten letters, and started shopping more locally. She said she had managed to cut her grocery bill in half. Grandpa Michael restored an old car. Kirstie, a single mom whose husband left her, grew much more independent as a result of the experience. Today's hard economic times are not nearly as bad as what Great Britain endured in the 1940s, but the same lessons of creating lemons out of lemonade still apply.

Part 2 is available on Youtube and for purchase on Amazon.

We can't say the O word either. Any mention of "out" sends them into a frenzy. In fact, when the bird thinks that it's time for the dogs to go out, he will yell and keep yelling "Want to go out?" as loudly as he can. This sends the dogs running to the door, barking at the bird, and it can get quite noisy!

Twit, I agree with you. Unfortunately, I don't think that Kate took all 8 kids with her shopping. Otherwise, there would have been more dramatic tweets about how difficult and stressful it was to have the crowds plus the 8 kids.

Since her tweet doesn't mention the kids being with, and she has admitted to having sitters on the weekend, I just don't believe she took them with. She never takes all of them anywhere together.

If Kate took anyone shopping with her, it would have been one or both of the twins. Not the whole crew.

That's how she rolls.

The other phrase we can't say is 'car ride', we call them CRs and I think the dog has got that figured out. Yesterday, i caught a stray by opening up my car door and saying "Wanna go for a car ride?!". The dog turned, looked at my open car door and hopped right in, he couldn't resist!

And before I forget, again, Happy Hanukkah!!

I know someone who used to work PR at the palace, and the hospital has had royal patients for years (including the Duke of Edinburgh earlier this year) and they know the protocols. The call should have been put through to Kate's protection officer before the nurse got it. That's the protocol. That being said, what the DJ's did is reprehensible and a big caution to everyone else about the law of unintended consequences. I feel so much for that poor nurse.

==================

Besides herself, what is Kate in love with? Let's see. It's Bella Bars, Amazon, Kiehl's and now the card star app. What's next? This "in love," and "major crush" is starting to get old.

So Kate was disappointed that the "boycott" by the haters was a failure. If she blocks the haters, how would she have known that they were boycotting and are back on her Twitter? I thought she didn't see any of that.

kateplusmy8
@BColliesRGreat @MiloandJack yeah, wish their 'test' would have lasted six months or more don't you?

Who is she kidding? Kate needs those non-fans to keep her Twitter alive and she knows it. I just wish that the non-fans would realize this. Kate's smart enough to know this. Why aren't they?

Why the heck would Cara need to worry about savings cards? She is TWELVE. At most she should be buying chewing gum and chapstick at the drug store.

Collin's list looks like 2 people wrote it. His name, Legos and Art Set are very neat and on line. The name Cara and Merry Christmas are not written neatly and are off line. I guess he forgot he wanted an Ipod. He really is a sweet little boy.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Fleecing, I have to agree with you. Kate knows that she only has about 6 fans left so she knows that it's the people that dislike her that keep her somewhat relevant. She would LOVE to go on TV to set the record straight about all of the negative things that are said about her. However, she is too self-centered to realize that twitter wars are NOT going to get her on TV. She still thinks she is in demand, but only in her own mind.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Collin, the sweetheart, wants two things. Legos and an art set. Seems like a very conservative, reasonable Christmas list request to me.

They are not the greedy, selfish kids that Kate makes them out to be who have Christmas lists out the wazoo with over the top items like $299 ipods. No, they want legos and an art set, period. It's Kate who is grifting for more by implying they want all this other stuff so she can fund another best xmas ever on the sheeple's dime.

NJGal51 said...

Cardstar App- get out your phone, find the virtual card that you want and pull up the bar code. Will it scan? Maybe yes, maybe no. Granted you're not carrying as many cards but it is time consuming and the barcode doesn't always scan.

My method? Decide at home what I want and see if there are coupons and load them onto card. When I check out hit "forgot card" and punch in my phone number. It works every time and my wallet is just as light if I don't want to carry the cards.

Bearswife194- We can't say Uncle Barry (Nouschi's walker) or Dog Park without her going into a frenzy. My daughter tried "Frog Lark" and she didn't react at all, but she reacts to Dog Park.

We have to say U.B. and D.P.,as she hasn't caught on to those yet. It's just a matter of time...

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I am ALL about going paperless but I think typing in your number is still faster and more convenient. My grocery clerk will even just have me say it orally and she types it in--easy as pie. I live in an area with spotty reception, many a time my phone doesn't work so to pull up an app, dig through it for the card, and hope the 4G is working is quite the gamble. Phone numbers are how the gym is doing it and most stores. I don't even take my phone out.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Admin, I always thought that it was Kate that requested the expensive items, not the kids. She once said her kids deserve everything on a golden platter. I think it is Kate who wants these expensive for her kids. To her, it is a validation that she is better than other mothers because her kids have the best of everything. As usual, money and material things are all Kate cares about. It's all for show.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

LovemyGrandsons I agree. Time and time again these kids have proven themselves to be normal kids who are perfectly happy with the simple things. She takes them to NYC and all they want to do is play on rocks. She takes them to Alaska and all they want to do is eat moose hotdogs and look at Chuck Palin's fossils. She says they want ipods and whatever expensive toy when really all they want are legos. She is a pathologic liar, either that or simply just not LISTENING to her children.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Admin, I vote that Kate is both: a liar and not listening to the kids.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

I just have to say that being a Christian, I feel guilt alot of times for the things I post about Kate. But I just get so frustrated with her because I haven't seen one redeemable, human quality in this woman. She has 8 little lives that she is basically in control of and the examples she sets for these future adults are awful. I feel so bad for those kids.

I do not use my frustration with her as an excuse; I do pray for her and the kids, as well as forgiveness for my own negative opinion about her.

Pity Party said...

Look who the big head in the family is now, I mean really. Poetic justice. C*llin is a smart kid you can tell by the way he carries himself and figures things out. I will never forget him trying to pack all that stuff under his seat. He was so patient and just kept taking it out and putting it in a different way, and while you could see he was frustrated he was not giving up, until kind and patient Nana Janet walked over and just simply said they won't fit and he went on his way. As I recall KT was also late getting back at that point. I am sure that is a trend with her. Would hate to be her baby sitter. Nothing worse than thinking it is about time to go and the lady of the house is a no show sitting in a parking lot somewhere opening packages and mail prolonging the escape as long as possible.

I think has hard time comprehending that the kids are content with what they have, and have reasonable requests in return- No, they dont want upgrades, or super-deluxe, or super-pricey. They want the simple art set. Average, normal, age appropriate. If Kate hadnt shown us that list, she would tweeted to the world that Collin needs an art teacher and they need to turn a room into an art studio, and art lesson are so so expensive. All he wants is an art set! From the toy store. Simple. She cant get that through her head. Happy with the simple. Dont need to supersize.

Sorry for so many posts, but I'm in the middle of laundry and this blog is my outlet when I am doing my least favorite chore!

Anyhow, back to what kids really want. My grandsons love to play on the trails at their by their home, cross the bride and explore the dried up creek bed, search for frogs, climb the railroad ties piled up in wooded section, kick the soccer ball, etc.

Would they be enthralled with the crooked houses the G kids received? Absolutely, for a short time, but then they move on to physical activities. They have a tree house that play in ocassionally, but they get bored, get down, and start on their trails again, or bike riding, or hitting balls with a bat.

They have lots of toys from both sides of the family, but their favorites are the ones that involve physical activity or brain skills, (like floor puzzles or mazes).

Kate has always seemed to force on her children things they don't really want or that make them happy. In all of those trips and vacations that were filmed, rarely did we see the kids actually running around, playing, and laughing. It seemed that everything was structured down to the minute. So the things they did experience never really seemed like it was all that fun for them.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Okay, my grandsons didn't cross the "bride", they crossed the bridge!

While the kids mayor may not have asked for iPods, I think this list was just for the Secret Santa ( I guess that's how they DO Santa) Probably they have to list one or two thing the sibling who gets their name can afford. The major lists Kate said were out long ago (after Halloween ) and full of expensive items. I think it's a bit of both- the kids may have learned to be greedy b/c they have been flooded with stuff all their lives, plus many kids these days do have everything under the sun. In my childhood we were happy with a doll, a book. a game and some crayons, maybe

I didn't realize that Kate was talking about coupons. I thought the app was for those tiny little plastic cards that we get at the convenience store, pharmacy, grocery store. You punch a little hole in them and put them on your keychain. When I get three cents off on a gallon of gas, I just take it to the cashier and it's scanned in a second. Much easier than digging out your phone and having them scan that when many times it doesn't work.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cara and Mady asked for ipods for Christmas. A lot of tweens have them or something similar. I doubt that the younger kids asked for them. I think KK just conflated it.

I had to smile reading about your dogs. When I was in the first grade, a dog followed me home from school (with a little coaxing ;-) ). The vet said he was about 1 year old, was part terrier and something else, maybe spitz. We were dogless at the time and, my mother being a sucker for strays (my dad was almost as bad), he had a home for life. He quickly learned the W word and also the spelling, so we switched to perambulate. He learned that one pretty quickly, too, as well as car, ride, out and ice cream. Best dog I ever had. He died the day after I started back to college my sophomore year.

I don't think it's for coupons. Scanning it right off your keychain or saying your phone number orally both I firmly believe are ions faster than fumbling around with your iphone.

That involves getting the phone out, unlocking it, finding the app (if you don't organize your app that can take awhile!), flipping through to find the card you need. No, this one is a fail. Seems to make it easier, not harder.

Speaking of making life easier, can I be an unpaid spokesperson for Evernote again.....I LOVE THIS PROGRAM.

Young kids are usually only peripherally interested in music anyway. Justin Beiber here, One Republic there. The real interest in music doesn't usually happen until the pre-teen/teen years.

I think music has never felt more acute than when I was about 13 or 14 years old. I adore music, but I can't imagine it will ever feel that way again. That is a time of raging hormones and heightened emotions and music helps teen process that. You just don't usually see an eight year old weeping about how much Ke$ha speaks to them as opposed to say, a 15 year old. Similarly an eight year old is much more likely to ask for legos, not an ipod.

I went to the dollar store today to get wrapping paper, and I was looking for kids' books for their stockings. Kate's books were there - three for a dollar. I asked the clerk why they were selling them in three's. She laughed and said that they started out selling each of them for a dollar (no sales) then two for a dollar (still no sales) and now three for a dollar (Christmas gifts). So far, she said, no takers!

As always, she's a little late to the party as the company appears to have been around for at least 15 years? But why does it not surprise me that the company originated in Australia? Is she hoping to become the American spokeswoman?

Since I'm getting warmed up on Katie's endless grifting and wish lists, did anyone else see the comment someone made in response to one of the recent articles--I think maybe it was one of the Gather articles--someone wrote in that 'we' had written to various companies re: Katie's grifting habits and all of the companies were well aware of Ms. Katie's attempts. I had to chuckle while taking the comment with a HUGE grain of salt as I can't see spending that much time on such a project. I'm sure that for every successful grift she's accomplished lately, she's been turned down at least 30+ times. Just as the American public no longer wants to buy her books and the dollar store can't give them away, I think most companies are reluctant to be associated with her.

The kids look adorable, the parents seem grounded, but we've seen it before and I don't want to see another train wreck involving minor children. I can see that by going to work everyday.

Someone's response to Milo's tweet caused Kate to tweet her "b kind" statement.

So what was Milo's purpose in tweeting about the tragedy in the first place, if not to mention Jon and "stir things up"? I think it was done purposefully, to not only show what a "bad" parent Jon is, but to also glorify how wonderful Kate is.

And it's despicable of Kate to suggest anything unsafe was happening around her kids, implying that Milo was just glad it didn't turn out that way???? WTF!

She doesn't care, and isn't smart enough to know that. Milo is like Kate in that respect. She doesn't think before she tweets, either because she's so consumed by gushing praises for Kate, or because she just doesn't have the ability to do so. I think Milo did think before she tweeted the tweet about Jon. It was so out of the blue to mention him at all. IMHO, I believe that Diana was pregnant at the time she and Dodi got killed in the car wreck. When they left the restaurant, they were on their way to his penthouse and he was going to ask her to marry him. He had a ring waiting on her there. I saw this on a documentary or 20/20. I find it hard to believe that the nurse killed herself because of things in her life right before the phone call. They said she was happy, loved, had kids, great nurse and everyone she worked with loved her. The whole world knew about this. Twitter, Facebook, Youtube. AND the radio station kept repeating the interview over and over again before they stopped playing it. She must of been mortified. I just wish that the Royals would of sent someone from the Palace and gave her a message from Will and Kate, inviting her to the Palace for dinner with them. That would of gave her hope. I love to listen to Roy D. Mercer who makes calls but they are rated PG and a little above, but they are funny and the person getting pranked is getting pranked by one of their friends thru Roy D. Mercer. My favorites are Navy Recruiter and Herb the Car Saleman. Ford Probe Think about Susan Boyle. She was unknown and a little ol' audition skyrocketed her to the stratsphere where everybody then knew who Susan Boyle was and it didn't take long for the pressure to get to her and she had a breakdown where she had to get treatment while still competing on Britians Got Talent. Even Simon Cowell, a judge on the show said, He wished he would of known it was that bad, he would of been helping her all along. Something to that fact. She managed to get to the final and lost. But 2 years later, she has sold millions of albums and got to sing with Elaine Page who she said at the audition that she wanted to be like.Everyone really laughed at her for her saying that. Elaine Page was blasted because she had made some harsh comments about Susan and then regretted it and embraced Susan and sang with her on tv. Susan sings much better than Elaine. IMHO.

also, kate is mentally delusional and mentally ill.

And, I so agree about your comment that she thinks she'll score more points with Kate by doing this. She's Kate's BFF, you know - LOL - and she's become Kate's Twitter promoter, coach, protector, and battle-fighter; on top of being a super enabler.

I think everyone involved has made it pretty clear that she took her own life at this point. It sounds like she was due to go in and speak with her superiors the day they found her body. So no conspiracy theories, please. This woman and her loved ones are due that much respect at least.

Apparently it is the hospital's policy that calls are not allowed to be patched into the ward. There is no after hours operator, which is why she was manning the phones. She probably didn't know any better or forgot the policy. We're all human and we make mistakes. I wish she could have realized that.

This is just truly a tragedy for all involved: Jacintha Saldanha and her family, her co workers, the Royal Family, and, yes, even the DJ's and radio station who initiated the prank. Apparently, according to news reports, the female DJ in particular is having a very difficult time and there are concerns that she may hurt herself. They are not taking this lightly.

Regardless of your beliefs, I would ask that we all keep this family in our thoughts and/or prayers. Perhaps we could all light a candle for this woman and the life she dedicated to helping others.

I agree! Milo's looking for Kate-attention and also to get the non-fans riled up. She thinks the more action on Kate's timeline, the better it looks for Kate. I don't know what to say any longer about Milo - she's despicable, has clear mental health problems.

Lukebandit, Why do you think Diana was pregnant? if so, adds to the horrible tragedy that night. It would have been great for her to find happiness with Dodi.

Milo- the trip to the poorer section of town is awful- I agree, nothing but gawking. There are plenty of ways to educate your children on world poverty include doing that close to home. and DO something local about it!

Kate- I think it's selfish to buy herself a lot of gifts although I have a divorced friend who does buy herself one item she need (like gloves or towels etc) and something for the household- her kids do ask why she has nothing to open but their sweet offerings.

Kids- sounds like they will have a lot to open. I think Collin's short list definitely was just for the Santa Swap with siblings.I bet the tups do want iPods as the twins have the iPhones now.

When I was young, my first job out of HS was in the admitting office of a hospital. Back then it was all done by hand and there were no computers or HIPPA laws and the hospitals were smaller and more community based. The admitting "officer" wore many hats. One being the switchboard operator and the pager, and the keeper of the rooms. We took medical history upon admission so by the time someone was admitted we knew quite a bit about them and their families that were usually present. It was common practice for families to call and ask about the patients. We would get a sheet each morning that gave fair, poor, stable, satisfactory, critical, etc. When people would call about a patient's condition we would give them the info from the sheets. We were basically the go to person between patients and families. We would sometimes "check" on the patients for the families if they could not get in or did not want to disturb them if they were sleeping, etc. Everyone was always fair, doing well, up and about, good spirits, napping, had a good night, doctor in room, nice flowers, visitors, or in bad situations the same/unchanged. Relatives would come in and offer to pay the difference if their loved one could get a private room and we would pour over the beds list and try to find them one. Often the families would bicker about which would have the honor of paying for the private room. It was endearing. There was nothing that could make a patient and/or family members more happy than a private room and they were not plentiful those days. I loved the job as we were able to offer reassurance and provide a good service for the patients and their family. That is the way I feature it may be in other countries where the hospitals may be smaller and don't have have the HIPPA laws, etc. I guess what I am trying to say is I can see why the lady may have put the call trough in a personable way. I think the catalyst may have been the fact that it was a hoax and that she had been fooled into providing a disservice to the royal family, and the press that had already seized upon her, or were sure to come. I hate all those punked shows and fool my mom and what would you do type of shows. There are many people who do not appreciate being fooled by anyone in any way, whatsoever.

I totally agree. I wonder how many times the kids may have said "I miss Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin". "Why can't they come and visit? Why, Mommy, why?"

I wonder how Kate handled that whole scenario?

Any crew I've ever seen doesn't even talk to you. They are each there to do their job and it's unprofessional to shoot the shit with whoever is on set. Kate Is A Twit, yes, we know that Kate is stating that her desires are her childrens desires. The kids don't miss the cameras or "the crew". As we all saw on film, rarely did those kids smile or look like they were having a good time. It was just a job that mommy forced them into and she would love to force them back into it if she could find a taker.

Good catch. Stockings hung by the fireplace are NOT a christian/Jesus thing- so why is she doing it? Not that I mind or care if her kids get stockings, I think it is great, but just another example of her inconsistencies. It's a shame, all those cookies and not one to be left on a plate for Santa. Bah Humbug!

Kate Gosselin is really to be pitied. She constantly has to point out what a good Mom she is by how many cookies she bakes, or whatever. There is something missing in her that she doesn't realize that real mothers don't need or seek out this type of validation. Being a mother is an honor and a privilege. Kate, being a mother is so much more than baking cookies and spending hours on twitter trying to make the few people that care believe she is something you are not - a "Real" mother.

KK only baked 227 cookies? What a piker! At Christmas time, my mother and I would bake anywhere from 12 - 15 dozen cookies, and we were a family of 3. We didn't have any fancy a** huge stove, either. Just a regular 4 burner gas stove with a temperamental oven. Of course, some of those cookies would be used as Christmas gifts for neighbors, and KK doesn't have any neighbors, so maybe that's a moot point.

When Kate says "I'm working on it" re getting back on TV, it's simply underlining the fantasy world she inhabits. This dog has had her day, it was a fluke that she had a show and that it was popular. Those days are long gone, she had/has no discernible talent so there's really nothing to work on, it's not as if she can brush up on her acting, signing, or dancing skills. She partnered with Kendra Wilkinson to float a mom swap show. She actually left her children with Hugh Hefner's ex girlfriend. Kendra has shopped several sex tapes around and has done three nude pictorials with her "Girls Next Door" cast mates. This shows how desperate Kate Kreider is and I wonder if Julie Carson May signed off on this pathetic grasping at straws. Apparently, the mom swap pilot bombed just like everything else has. She'll never be able to grift from the church ladies again so I hope she has plenty of money to see her through the long spiral of ignominy because she's not only a joke in the industry, she's now a dirty joke.

She's down to people that she wouldn't have given the time of day when she was in her hayday. And given her christian woman persona why is she hoping a Mom Swap show would be picked up. This means she would be coupled with a porn star. The media would now call her Kendra and Kate. Again, she would have second billing.

Kate Kreider has no hope of ever publishing another cookbook unless she "self" publishes. The one she was under contract for with Zondervan (she had a 3 book deal) was an EPIC FAIL. As was reported numerous times, most of the recipes were plagerized (or a few ingredients were changed to make them seem her own! LOL) The few thousand copies that were printed were reportedly dumped overseas to some unsuspecting consumers. As we have all seen from Kate's own pictures the recipes she concocts for her children look like dog food. I would never make any of her "recipes" and I doubt my dog would touch them if I did. Happy Holidays to all on this great blog!

Gun Control said...

Realitytvkids.com (Administrator) said... 114

Not only that, but Jon has a second amendment right to possess a handgun, there was no evidence the kids were anywhere around or had ever even come near that weapon, and he was seen with it ONCE and never again. ONCE, like what, four years ago? There they go again bringing up one-time NON incidents that have never occurred whatsoever again.

Nearly everyone I knew in PA owned a gun. I took Milo has from a part of the country that understands that. But that's the sheeple for you, they want to strip him his parental rights and his second amendment rights.

*********************

All it takes is a one-time accident for a child to die, as that story out of PA tragically proves. I doubt that father is out celebrating his 2nd Amendment rights tonight.

I highly doubt that all the "sheeple" want to strip him of his 2nd Amendment rights. I'd also venture to guess that not all of your regulars agree with you on this issue, but they probably won't say a word for fear of being ostracized from the inner circle.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Oh, I'm pretty sure Milo does want to strip him of his second amendment rights. It makes no sense why she brought up some incident from three years ago otherwise. It's not like Jon drives around flashing his NRA card. That was the point, not to debate gun control, which is probably why no one wants to debate gun control.

Regardless, it's a difference of opinion that Milo needs to understand, and no court thinks just because you own a weapon means you are a bad parent. The court already said he couldn't have it on the property with the kids, what more does she want? Does he even have this gun anymore???

******
The "inner circle" are very level-headed, smart ladies so I don't think that would happen.
I'm not a gun person (although from PA) but respect the right to bear arms. I don't think that Jon was being filmed by TLC when shooting his gun off on the property. I think it was when he had custody at the house and it was when the paps were at the fence line on a daily basis.
I'll go on record and say that it was idiotic for Jon to fire off his gun on his front lawn in full view of the paps. I mean, why?
Go to a fricking gun range if you want to shoot.
There, I said it!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Of course if you're going to go there....it's terribly tragic many kids have died, though you forget many kids have been saved from intruders because dad owned a gun and Lord knows Kate has practically thrown open the door to her creepy followers, so.....I'd probably want to have some kind of weapon if I were on that property too.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The judge ordered Jon not to have the gun at the house and to register it (even though this is not required in PA and he was doing nothing illegal). Why is this not enough for Milo? Why bring up an incident that was noticed and resolved THREE YEARS ago and NEVER mentioned as an issue again? Why can't Kate be a big girl just once and say it was taken care of please butt out?

I thought that was a very fair compromise. He didn't say he had to get rid of the gun, he just had to not have it at the house. Kids can't get hurt if they are never around the gun.

Why was this not enough to satisfy the sheeple? Why is it always ALL or nothing for them? Why not compromise? It's one of the few fair decisions that judge has made IMO. I woulda done the same in the judge's shoes. It's never a good idea to have a gun around during a contentious divorce--not that anyone would resort to that, but it's just a good rule of thumb to just not have weapons involved in any divorce, no matter how non-contentious it is. This was a fair compromise that no one took issue with here, but naturally, it just wasn't good enough for the sheeple and they are STILL bringing it up YEARS later.

I agree. Kate had every right to complain to the judge and the judge made a fair decision and told him come on now knock it off.

If anything this was more about Jon saying FU I'll do what I want in front of the paps and the court nipped that in the bud. Problem solved, done.

Of course it would be the golden child who said she missed the crew. She knows how to work it with Kate. I remember an episode where some of the other 5 said they wished they were Hannah for some reason. Can't remember what they were asked at the time. I thought that was very telling at the time. I would bet, based on what an idiot Kate is, that Hannah has been told by momma many times how mature she is and what a wonderful little mommy's helper she has been. I'm confident Kate actually talks to them about how great their lives were when the cameras were rolling and has them brainwashed to believe that their lives would be that much better if they were back on TV. Why the hell else would her 8 year old say such a thing? It always goes back to us thinking the crew gave them the attention they were and are lacking.

First, I hope they get professional help to deal with this tragedy. I do not believe there was any malice behind their prank, but as adults, they should have been able to see around corners and realize that this could go very wrong.
What if it works? What if someone blabs about Kate? Will they lose their job? Who could be harmed? Is it worth it just for ratings?
I thought it was irresponsible, but I know that if they are decent people, they will be haunted by this suicide.
Getting fired is in order if only to show some respect for the fact that their actions triggered a tragedy. I think the station owes this poor family that much.
Again, the ramifications will ripple out from this for a very long time to come.

It's really not acceptable to talk to crew. It's not a snob thing. It's not anything. It's just a respect thing--respect that they are doing a job on set just like you are. If they want to talk and have a spare moment they will approach you. It's rude to engage with them otherwise. Just like you wouldn't interrupt someone working at any other job out there.

I remember also the RV episode where she was trying to pack and complaining that no one was helping while looking right at the crew and saying okay time to stop playing TV show now and help.

Um Kate they weren't "playing" TV show they were doing their jobs and it's not their problem to pack your RV when they have a hundred other things to worry about at their JOB.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything said about the crew and how she treated them. But they created the monster; they each, and collectively, had no one to blame but themselves. Hopefully as they move forward in their professional lives they have learned from the mistakes they made with Kate. Should have, would have, could have, drawn a professional line in the sand with her years earlier.

The true fault I guess, lies with Discovery and all their subsidiaries. Everytime she started screeching, they changed out production crew professionals until they found workers who would just shut up and do as Kate told them.

I was just saying I feel like my beliefs are being tossed aside to accommodate everyone elses. My Christmas tree is now a holiday tree.We no longer have Halloween costume partys...cause a few feel (I said a few...like 4 in my kids school) don't partake in it.
I'm not saying chastise the ones who don't participate. Why not give them a room to go to ...to do whatever they want? watch a movie....study...play games...ect ect...

Why must we give up everything to keep everyone happy? Why do 400 other students have to give up Valentine days...Christmas...Easter.cause 4 or 5 others don't believe in it? Why can't we find a happy medium for everyone? I have no issues with others beliefs..why do I feel like mine is an issue?
My daughter was born on 9-11-95. I was told by her school, not to send in her treats on that day. My daughter HATES her b-day...she hates to tell anyone when her birthday is. I know 9-11 was a tragedy...a very bad day in history...BUT...she was born on that day and for that I celebrate.
There hasn't been a birthday in almost 8 years that goes by...that my daughter dosent say...find peace for the loved ones who died on this day.
I guess I just don't get why we can't be happy for what we have. Or believe in and hope for.

The world did not stop spinning on its axis that day, tragic as it was. And what's the lesson they are teaching here? Life goes on.
I know it sounds trite, but you know what? If your daughter is not free to joyfully celebrate the day she was born, then, if even in a small way, the terrorists have won.

This appears to be the case. I saw snippets of interviews the DJ team gave yesterday/today and they are devastated. They just did not think ahead. Interestingly, the laws in AU are similar to America regarding not being able to record or broadcast the phone conversation without consent and release. So, there are criminal charges that will be investigated, even though the radio station's legal team vetted the prank call prior to release.
The DJs could face possible civil action in the death of the nurse.
Their show has been canceled.
I really do pray for healing all around and hope that this begins a conversation about these so called "pranks" and that people start to put weight on the possibility of people getting hurt, physically, emotionally, financially.

Damage caused by extensions can lead to a hair loss condition called traction alopecia, where hair eventually falls away from the scalp as a result of constant tension.

I took a peek at "Katie Crocker". There is no doubt her hairline has receded. Juat go back and look at a photo of her taken with her hair pulled back prior to the extensions (i.e. the famous side view of her with the ginormous belly or the one with her hair slicked back for some Hollywood gig). Combine that with her diet, and she will end up more bald than Jon! Maybe she'll end up doing Hair Club. It's a shame because she used to have healthy, thick hair. Now her hair is just plain nasty, dirty looking.

I check by at least once a day, but it FINALLY looks like she is done. The blogs, pro and con, are drifting away. If not for Twitter, she would be a distant memory. Hoping for a KATE- FREE 2013.

Oh, I also wanted to comment about her always being barefoot, as in the cookie baking picture (she does that too outside). I gotta say that in the winter time, I at least wear slippers in the house. Howard Stern and Howe Mandel were talking about twitter this morning and said something to the effect that the people who tweet/retweet platitudes are the most effed up because they're trying to use/create a manual for life. Hello Kate!

I've debated about weighting in on the prank phone call because I know that I'm going to be in the minority here...I think that the woman who committed suicide must have had some deep underlying issues to do what she apparently did. This was a prank phone call with someone pretending to be the Queen and it was a bad imitation of the Queen to boot. I don't see vilifying the DJ's. Was it stupid? Yes, but all prank calls are stupid. I just can't work up the outrage that some people seem to have against these DJ's. When we were kids we used to make them all the time.

I don't see anything wrong with going barefoot. Growing up on the Jersey shore (5 blocks from the beach) barefoot is a way of life.

Kate always announces her great domestic accomplishments....does she realize how silly she sounds? I guess not, when there are some who hail her as SuperMom, despite what the public now know. How can they justify their hero worship?

Starzz22,

I too am sorry your daughter can't celebrate her birthday without guilt. She should be able to-that infamous day will remain in memory for all-time but the good things that occurred the same date like your child's birth should be a sign of triupmh for this nation, that it can not be defeated or its spirit broken.

On another note. I worked with my friend - she is in charge of the Santa photos at the mall which I joined her for, during a few seasons. The at Easter, who did we have but...The Springtime Rabbit!!

"I'm not saying chastise the ones who don't participate. Why not give them a room to go to ...to do whatever they want? watch a movie....study...play games...ect ect..."

Starz--as a Christian, I can understand your feelings. But--what if you or your children were the "ones who don't participate"? How would you or your children feel then? Put yourself in their place.

Would you want to be singled out as a "non-believer" and then sent to a room to watch a movie or do something else? Isn't that what segregation was all about? The majority rules--and too bad if you're in the minority? Is that what you're implying? I don't want to pick a fight, but just think how you would feel if the opposite were true and your kids were sent to a room to watch a movie, etc. while the rest of the kids participated in a celebration.

With that said, I do feel sorry for your daughter. IMO, it is wrong to deny her a school celebration due to her birthday falling on 9/11.

msgoody2shoes21 TWEETS: The rumor that Jon keeps some of the kids 80%-90% of time is FALSE. And on that note I hope every1 having a good holiday season

KATE ANSWERS: you are correct.
=======================================
Well at least Kate isn't lying this time. The rumor is that he's got the kids 50% of the time NOT 80%-90% of the time. MGTS21 is one of her die hard sheeple and is as bad as Milo.

She's also tweeting @Pink grifting for tickets. She said that she wants to see @Pink in concert once in her life WITHOUT her 8.

Now off to work I go....

Question for posters who know all about Twitter...

If someone sends a DM, does that appear anywhere where it can be accessed by anyone, or is it private? Someone tweeted...
xxxx
@Allisstair @Kateplusmy8 and then says she needs to DM Kate for info. Kate won't answer her DM's unless it's about PR business.

If it's private, how would someone know that Kate doesn't answer a DM?

I'm just catching up on yesterday's blog activity. I know we're asked not to do blogs on blogs and perhaps we're not supposed to do non-fans on non-fans either, but the above type of speculation on Twitter drives me crazy.

There is no way to see what is in a DM other than your own.

When it's all been said is the strategy to say things that aren't even true? So much for credibility, I guess.

I think Kate tweets about her Super Duper accomplishments, because she needs validation from her fans and tweeties that she is a great mother. She should only care about what her children think of her as a mother, but the fact that she constantly needs to hear from strangers what a great mother she is, really seems to show that she has a lot of self-doubt in that area. How many times does she tweet how her kids thank her and squeal and shriek at something she's done?

She either needs to prove it to the world, and/or prove it to herself. Most mothers I know don't go on harping about all the things they do for their children--they just do it.

Has anyone ever listened to Ryan Seacrest's "Ryan's Roses" on the radio?

It' sort of a prank call, what he does is people call him suspecting that their significant other is having an affair. He then calls the significant other and pretends that they just won a contest where they can send a free bouquet of flowers to anyone they want. Then he sees if they will send it to their significant other, or the person they are having an affair with.

Invariably they want to send it to the person they are having an affair with and the affair is exposed on radio.

I have always thought that was terribly unethical to broadcast and that one of these days someone is going to snap from being publicly humiliated and something tragic will happen. I think it's awful.

I have no problem with confronting people about an affair, but it should be in private. Not on a radio station. I wonder if they will think twice about this show now.
