The reality T.V. relationships curse

The learning curve

Reality T.V. seems to have played a role in many couples in love ending up in divorce court. Seems Tia and Tamera Mowry, child stars who now have their own reality show about married life (Tia & Tamera), have picked up on the obvious: reality T.V. is hard on relationships.

Said Tia: “I can see why marriages deteriorate after being on a reality show for a while. At the end of the day, the reality show is a show, and they’re looking for conflict. For any relationship, always focusing on a conflict is not healthy.”

And Tamera had this to say: “You don’t want to put everything out on television. That’s what makes a marriage. It’s between you two and not you and 2 billion people who can watch it over and over on YouTube.”

Jon and Kate Gosselin are perhaps reality T.V.'s most infamous break-up. Here are just a few of the many other couples who split during or after their reality shows.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. The show may have boosted sales of Chicken of the Sea, but it didn't make being newlyweds seem like much fun. The Newlyweds.

Linda Marie Bollea and Hulk Hogan. They endured 24 years of marital bliss. It wasn't until they signed on for a reality show that they split. Hogan Knows Best.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. It's widely been rumored the Kardashians orchestrated this entire relationship just for ratings, but poor Kris actually seemed to be in love with her. Kris is fighting this out in court. Said his attorney, Kim had "no intention of proceeding with this marriage. That it was basically a contrivance for the benefit of her show and to make money." Go Kris! Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Darrel and Juanita Boeschkoetter. We laughed, we cried, we rooted for them to pull through, we prayed for rain when it was dry and sun when it was wet. But the happy ending we desperately wanted wasn't to be. Juanita and Darrel eventually split. The Farmer's Wife.

And another thing, rich people don't necessarily use expensive beauty products to look good. Smart people regardless of wealth use what makes their skin look good no matter how much it is. I've tried all kinds of beauty products over the years, and at the end of the day, Dove's skin care which is usually only 10-20 bucks and often goes on sale, I've found works best for me. I used to use Zia because someone I worked for kept getting a ton of their samples, etc., and I guess I could have continued with them. But why when Dove does the trick?

Hate to keep bringing up Pioneer Woman but this is another thing I like about her, she tends to recommend the best of the best products from your regular ole drug store, usually about $9.99 or that ballpark.

Weird how that is but it seems to be pretty common among us. What a world what a world.

@CarterRcarter7 @KiehlsNYC a wonderful company with amazing products sent me a gift...giving gifts near the holidays! Wonderful company!

Think about how many women who are living paycheck to paycheck to support their children, having to decide if the gas or electric gets paid this month, would LOVE to have free beauty gifts sent to them to make them look and feel...special.

Then millionaire Kate is gifted with freebies. It just makes you wonder about the unfairness of it all, and if she will, in time, meet karma face to face. She should take her free products, make little gift baskets, and take them to a social services agency for distribution to women who could never, in a million years, afford such products.

&&

Sleepless you make me choke up saying that. Imagine indeed. There are so many great charities out there that could use these beauty products. They could be used as stocking stuffers for holiday stockings, lots of churches and other organizations do that. Toys for tots is great but moms and dads need things too. In particular, there are many back to work charities that provide women with nice blouses and business suits to wear to interviews. Think how nice it would be when giving them a good business suit to wear you also give them some high quality beauty products to brush up with instead of just soap and water. Now that would be something amazing.

Many celebrities really take on a charitable cause either starting their own or really getting involved in a charity. Kate could have and still could do so much with the gifts she has been given.

I have said this before I have no desire to be famous and being a celeb would be the last thing I would want, but, if I were one, one of the few things I think i WOULD like is the opportunity to use your name and face to really make a difference with a charity. I think that would be so empowering, such a cool feeling. Of course a non-celeb can do a lot too and they do--but it does give you great opportunities if you are one.

I don't understand this. For what is Kate being supported? Milo "supports" Kate by buying bella bars. Why does she need support? To do what exactly?

Yup. The sheeple are busy ordering face and hair products from Kate's latest advertising campaign. If she would tweet that she got free chicken feed from the local mill, would the sheeple ask her the code for free shipping because they want to order? Whatever Kate has, they want. It doesn't matter about the cost or the product.

Or a box of crap completely age inappropriate for them. Eight and twelve year olds don't need to worry about toner, moisturizer, and eye serum for God sake. Let them be children. There will be plenty of time to moisturize later. At most a 12 year old may want a little lip balm now and again but they really shouldn't be worried about anything else.

I really think that Kate tweeted this because she NEEDS to start up the twitter wars again. Without the "haters" and "katers" arguing with each other her twitter is all but dead. There was no other reason for her to blatantly say that the company sent her a gift. This may backfire on Kate much like he Northern TP debacle.

If the company wants to give things away, what about our female soldiers serving their country downrange? I'm sure tha they'd love a little pampering.

The fubar list for 2012 must be pretty long by now.

I looked at Kiehls twitter. Looks like they give '3 deluxe samples on every order'. She probably spent $500 to get six free samples of something. I wonder, does this company even know who Kate Gosselin is? I think she thinks she's special and unique and only SHE gets free stuff.

Anyway, it doesn't matter how much she spends on beauty products for her skin she's still ugly on the inside. She should try eating the stuff, see if that helps.

Same with Roma Downey. I bet they looked up every celeb with young kids and sent her videos out to them.

No one is sitting around in board meetings saying you know who would be perfect for us, Kate Gosselin!

In fact I bet even Coupon Cabin was courting 12 or 14 celebs before settling for Kate.

When I was working for Hospice, Loreal would donate a lot of items, especially the 'fancy' kits of creams and lotions assortments, etc. Also, hats, scarves, soft gloves, and teddy bears of all things. Maybe they were throw away items or such, but nothing was even near it's expiration date. We especially got a lot just before Mother's Day and Valentine's Day.

Count me as someone who thinks J&K would still be married if TLC hadn't come along. Kate wouldn't have had the money to leave. She left because of greed and nothing more. They probably wouldn't have been happy but they wouldn't have a choice. They couldn't afford to get divorced. I also think it's pathetic that Kate's friends consist of people on Twitter that she's never met. Whatever happened to the people that love her when they meet her.

As far as Kate pushing expensive crap to her sheeple, don't they really look at her? Her hair looks like straw and her face looks ten years older than it is. And it doesn't help that she lays the makeup on so thick. I'll stick to my Suave shampoo and conditioner which I've been using for decades and Cetaphil for my face. And I can buy all my hair and skin products at Walmart cheap. Works for me.

It's the wealthy who think nothing of it.

Morning y'all. Just a drive-bye before I leave for work. I fell asleep early last night, so missed KKs tweet about the freebies. Gr8 price? I took a look at Kiehls website. $15 for a 2.5oz of hand cream is a great price? When I can go to Dollar Tree and buy a 2oz tube of Udderly sMOOth that is the greatest hand cream I've ever tried, AND is completely scentless, so it doesn't aggravate my asthma? No, KK, NOT a gr8 price! And I'll stick with my Clinique moisturizer that only costs $23. It lasts all day, works great, and is, again, scentless. I can't BELIEVE she's still grifting and that companies are still falling for it. I agree with NJGal. Send the freebies to our deployed troops. They'd love it and can make good use of it. I participate in an "adopt a soldier" every year, and high on the list of requests are things like lip balm and skin care products. That desert environment must be he** on the skin. A well deserved win for Tony and Melissa. He was so happy and excited over the win and all the other dancers seemed to be just as happy for him. Since Kate and her "big girls" watched the entire season together (per her tweets) I'm surprised that they didn't watch the finale....oh wait, Kate was too busy opening feeebies. Never mind.

Improbable Dreams said...

more via RealityTea.com: Melissa and Tony are definitely in shock. The sky box erupts. The pros obviously think very highly of Tony. (Not that they probably don't about Derek, as well, but he's been here, done this a few times over. Also, Kate. Freaking. Gosselin. Tony deserves this win!)

aggiemom09121416 said...

Tony, ever the nice guy, said oh she is great. I am sure she voted for us.
--------
Uh...how about nope?I don't follow DWTS, but didn't Kate say on her twitter that her favorite dancer was someone else?
Hehe, instead of being in the audience last night, she was foaming at the mouth about makeup. What a gal!
She probably didn't vote for Tony. She probably thinks he cheated her out of the trophy (and more $$) since he didn't know how to teach her.

I'm sorry. I can't help it.
Everytime Kate tweets something about her "big girls", I keep thinking that she's referring to her fake titays, not her children.

Just wondering how Milo will handle this? Remember her Twitter comment to Kate about how she would have done so much better with a better teacher? Yeah, right Milo. He freakin won the biggest prize in DWTS history last night. Karma is a beautiful thing!

Tucker's Mom said...

I was tuning into DWTS during Sons of Anarchy commercials and caught the moments of elimination and winning. Tony's elation was obviously shared by all of his cast mates.
What a class act for saying positive things about Kate on Kimmel. Tony--that was a smart move because after the dust up that Kate made (on CC, no less, shame on them) after Tony's extemporaneous quip on Anderson Cooper, it's best he just strokes her ego and keeps the waters calm, lest Kate make it all about her and not about this unbelievable achievement.
BTW, if I recall correctly, Kate tweeted that she liked Shawn for the win, so no, I don't think she voted for Tony at any point this season.
Once again, missed PR opportunity. If Kate would have been Tony's cheerleader, I'm betting you anything that she would have gotten press out of it. An interview about how happy she is for Tony, he deserves a talented partner who can dance, unlike her (this is why it's a fantasy, because Kate doesn't do self deprecation) and how much she knows he wanted this win, blah blah blah.
I bet she could have even been in the audience cheering him on last night if she knew how to navigate a good PR opportunity. Tony's been a contender this whole season with Melissa. Kate missed the boat.
But you know, thank God she's got moisturizer.

She didn't have the grace to congratulate Tony, and she apparently tweeted "thanks" to Kiehls for their "gift" via a dead Twitter account. #Twitterfail

Wouldn't it be gr8t if K8te sent each of her twitter fans a small gift for Christmas? They certainly have sent her a ton of crap over the years.
How about it, K8t??

I looked at twazzup, and she has a mind-blowing 9 tweets per hour. If the non-fans would stop tweeting, she'd have 1 or 2.

I checked out early last night. Just realized this morning that, as usual, Kate didn't bother to find the CORRECT Twitter name for the company. Her tweets and the tweets from her cult members all went into oblivion as there is NO @KiehlsNYC Twitter account. Kate is SUCH an idiot! You don't just put an @ in front of a name. You actually need to check to find out the Twitter name. What fools she and her fans are.

I was just thinking about K8t's Thanksgiving holiday. She tweets an old pic of her table (pathetic as it was).
There were no tweets of spending time with extended family, or even friends. Nothing.

But,she is happy happy happy about free stuff, her one of three vehicles loaded down with stuff. What a great life she leads! (not)

The only friends K8t has is Milo and Deanna (although I question this relationship-both are using each other for financial gain or career advancement).

How come she hasn't tweeted lately about rushed school mornings, bus runs, breakfasts, or bread baking? and what happened to that super-fantabulous meat slicer????
LOL

readerlady and anyone who can help, can you point me to an "adopt a soldier" where I can send a gift specifically to a woman soldier?
Once again, y'all inspire me to give and I just purchased a 10-piece moisturizing body set from the Body Shop for 69% off, and I think some woman or women will love this!
It's on the Today Show's Steals and Deals if you'd like one for you or for a gift. It's all regular size products, not sample.
Thanks.

Milo seems to fluctuate between saying Kate is financially well off because of her wise plannin and investin and sending her gifts. If Kate's so well off she can clothe her kids, Milo.

Congrats to Tony and Melissa. I'm sure Tony knows he'll get ribbed about Kate and is prepared to say something nice so the focus is taken away from her and back to where it belongs, on Melissa and him. Kate can't poop on his party this time.

Dear God, it's me Katie Irene-

I'm running out of toilet paper again, you can send some free rolls to my house. And while you are at it, we could use some more boxes of organic cereal, and I saw some shoes in a catalog that I have to have, and I'm looking for a company to send some clothes for all of us, and um, also coats for all of us, and oh, could you also get me tickets to see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas show for 16 people,
and..........................................

And make it snappy.

Kate, people spend their money on their priorities.
You? 3 cars, hair frying, tanning, manis/pedis, fancy footware, purses, sunglasses, bose ear buds...now pricey makeup.
But you can't justify gymnastics lessons or 3-d glasses.
Yep, that makes sense.

And it's rumored you are running a marathon this weekend. How much is that going to cost out the door to return home???

I just started watching Sons of anarchy and I like it a lot, I think it's a bit like Justified witch I loved! An other show I loved is Moone boy, that is set in the 80ties in Ireland. It's a comedy about a boy who relies on the help of his imaginary friend Sean to deal with the quandaries of life in a wacky small-town Irish family. It's very funny and sweet.

It really is a great show. Very well done but if graphic violence makes you squemish you might have to close your eyes during some scenes. Katey Segal is absolutely amazing (as are all the other actors). As with Breaking Bad, you need to start with season 1 so that you get the full story on everything. I download to my iPad and watch there.

I'm on season 2 of Breaking Bad.

They better be Rothschild, Hilfiger Kids, Hartstrings, Nautica or Gymboree. If not, they'll end up at the consignment shop.

From 'The Today Show'

But no doubt, Melissa's likable pro played a sizable role in her victory. Tony has been a fan favorite with his patience, nice-guy attitude and positive demeanor. Of all the pros on the show, he has perhaps been paired with the most contestants who lacked the ballroom skills to go far (Kate Gosselin and Martina Navratilova, to name two), and was often eliminated early in the competition. And in his 14th season, he finally got his mirror ball.
