Happy Thanksgiving

Oops, that's not a turkey! We're always searching for reality worth watching to tell you about, and here's another. If you're looking for something light after a heavy Thanksgiving meal, try some sushi. Jiro Dreams of Sushi, that is. Jiro Dreams is a 2011 Japanese documentary (it has subtitles) about Michelin three-star sushi chef Jiro Ono, whose small, simple restaurant makes the best sushi in the world.

Ono has been working nearly his whole life. At age seven, his alcoholic father abandoned him, and at age nine, he started working in a sushi shop. He never stopped.

Ono's hard work and dedication is admirable, but his perfectionism is controversial among some. Once, one of his employees had to make 200 batches of egg sushi before Ono was satisfied. His sons, who are in their 50's, are still waiting to take over the restaurant. Ono admits he treats them harder than anyone else who worked for him. How far do you have to go to make a perfect plate, and can you go too far?

Discuss Thanksgiving, recipes, Black Friday, whatever suits your fancy, and Jiro, which is available for streaming or rent on Netflix, as well as Amazon.com. Enjoy your holiday!

What "marriage issue" is so important that it trumps a child falling out of bed and making a loud thump that disturbs a child in another room? Wouldn't most people have hung up on the Pope to go see about their child? And wouldn't the Pope had understood?

My guess about the flashlight is that when Mady and Cara went in to see about the noise, they didn't turn lights on. Probably Rule #88 so as to not waken everyone in the room. That might be why the parents opted for a flashlight instead of a room light. Just a guess. Still, I think a child fallen to the floor is worth turning a light on for even if it does waken the others. They'll go back to sleep when the
lights go back out.

Yes! And when they show the kids at the dentist they show Mady in the chair and you can see the black tooth. It is stomach turning.

********

Ooooohhhhh,I missed that. Maybe I'd stopped watching by that time, but poor Mady! She probably had a horrible taste in her mouth from that bad tooth. Ick.

********************

Me too but I've been watching reruns on Netflix to see if she is as horrible as I recall. She is. And you can see her grown more horrible with each episode. Besides the ToysRus her attitude really started to take root (no tooth pun intended) around the Crayola episode.

Hi, all. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

OT Alert: my Thanksgiving was terrific! We left at 3:15 AM and pulled into my daughter's driveway at 8:50 AM. In spite of her panicky phone calls through the week, everything went fine. My SIL put the turkey on the smoker the night before and my DD and I had everything prepared by 1:00, we just needed to cook the dishes. The dinner went great, her in-laws loved it, and she was relaxed and happy.

Oh, what to say about my grandsons?! They are as gorgeous as ever, made us a special Thanksgiving napkin holder for our table, gave us drawings and card they had made for us. I have so much to hang on my fridge and in my cubicle at work.

With the leaves all gone, the boys took us on their trails again, some of them new. We played Elefun, Candy Land (the younger one's favorite), Go Fish cardgame (the older one's favorite), had a bonfire and toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate last night. My D and SIL put up their Christmas tree yesterday and the boys wanted a Christmas tree campout. Papa was already asleep so I did the camp out with them in the living room, but the deal was that Grandma couldn't sleep on the floor with them - I would sleep on the sofa. We had fun and I woke up in the middle of the night to find the younger one with his feet on the floor, but the top half of him laying across me on the sofa. Apparently he woke up and was going to climb on the sofa with me and fell asleep in the middle of doing so. Grandma pulled him up the rest of the way and cuddled him.

Also, during the fish cardgame, the younger is just learning his numbers, so he would ask if his brother had a "line and a zero" (a "10") and asked me if I had a "snowman with 2 circles" (an "8")! We worked on those numbers and I think he knows them now!

We had a family football game on Thanksgiving and a family soccer game on Friday. Those little boys are so active and want to do as much as they can with Papa and Grandma when we are there, and we happily oblige them. Unlike Kate, I truly am exhausted. It will be an early one for me tonight.

Sorry for my long post. By the way, welcome handinhand!

Re Leah and the head cut -- You just know that if Jon wanted to take Leah to the ER (Not saying he did, not saying he didn't, just speculating here), that KK overruled him. "When did you get your nursing license?" Or, "Just who's the nurse here?"

Dwindle, as long as you're getting Auntie a tape measure, may I grift one too? Emerald green, if you please, but I don't need a purse boy to go along with. I'd rather carry my own purse. That way I can use it as a weapon on anyone who disagrees with me.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Thanks, Dwindle. We got back a few hours ago and I've been busy with laundry (it seems neverending!).

You know, we were talking about shopping starting on Thanksgiving evening. Well, my dd had one of her friend's and her family over. I could not believe it that after the party ended, my dd and her friend left at 10:00 PM to get a TV her friend wanted. It was a 42" on sale for 180.00 until 2:00 AM so they went to buy it as a gift for her friend's husband. I couldn't believe it!

Then my dd and hubs went out on Friday to get some sales at the stores. She asked if I was going to go and I said no way, I'm staying with the boys! They took me on their trails again, but this time Grandma didn't follow them down the creek bed. I learned my lesson in September. But I did climb on the railroad ties with them. We were "kings" of the earth, as they said!

LMG -- Welcome home! Your holiday sounds eventful and fun. Those little boys are lucky to have a GMa like you!

LoveMyGrandsons said...

One more thing and then I promise to stop hogging the comments. When we were proclaiming ourselves "kings of the earth", the younger one said to me that we are just pretending because he knows God is the real king of the earth. Then the older one said that God is "the best guy of all". They are learning in Sunday School, and it was such a joy to hear their comments. As well it was a great moment to share my faith with them and talk about the blessings that God has given us. I love these unexpected teachable moments.

Also, I mean no disrespect or offense to those on this blog who are not Christian. I was simply sharing a story about my grandsons and I hope no one is offended.

Kate claimed there was no scar on Leah's forehead- possibly a small one. A very weird event and why write about it in a book for all to see? Does she think it paints her in a good light??

as for Cara's ankle, yes, Kate did put off taking her to get it checked but I think she was joking about no time for a cast once it was found to be ok. Cara looked like she didn't get the joke- either did I!

I thought the black tooth incident happened earlier, pre-show? But Mady did have more cavities at the dentist visit they showed- it's the Juicy Juice, not Jon's brushing skills as Kate maintained.

Kate needs more than one Dyson because she's not capable of dragging one up or down stairs. She's so out-of-the-times. Dyson's were so 10 years ago.

I had one that I saved and dreamed about for a year before I bought it. They are not all their cracked up to be. Shit flies out the back and they get clogged up easily. I abandoned mine and when I went to buy a new one, the vacuum store told me they can't sell the Used Dysons and they had a graveyard of Dysons that were also abandoned by their former owners.

Why spend $500 on a product that is not much better than a $100 product? Oh, yeah ... for the NAME.

But then I remember this is Kate we are talking about and if she couldnt be there to organize and mastermind the emergency room staff and gets lots of attention for herself, what was the point of the baby even being seen?

And take her by herself? #muchtoobusyandexhausted.

You know I tend to agree. The story was detailed, convoluted, an "over explanation" for a simple story. It has red flags all over it. I can only speculate what the real story is.

Has anyone seen Dial M for Murder? Or the remake with Michael Douglas? The main character has a story to explain EVERYTHING. A detailed, convoluted story for everything. Of course, he's a murderer.

Wow that is exactly what it looked like. I wonder if she ever pulled any of their arms out of its socket when she was tossing them in their cages I mean cribs. If she yanks on their hair, she'll yank them up by one arm, too.

There was a "special" episode on one time of J&K+8 that showed Kate very upset with one of the babies who had messed the crib. I was appalled to see her lift that baby by one arm. There was no support for the head. No concern that the arm could be pulled out of the socket. It might as well have been a doll she lifted up.

The curious thing is that no matter how much I've hunted on Youtube or some clip of that, nothing has turned up. Did it get swiffered by TLC? It always seemed to me that using a shot of that as an avatar would have been enough to disturb any sheeple.

Also, on the return trip from Alaska, Kate and one of the girl tups were coming thru a rotating door at the airport. Kate must have put a visegrip on the little girls shoulder because as they exited that little child grabbed her shoulder and gave her mother a look like "how could you!"

OT WARNING!

Okay, I just have to share something that happened to me this past week. I know you are all animal lovers, so I couldn't help but want to share.

I recently started becoming involved with a brand new local dog rescue. They are rescuing dogs from northern Manitoba where the living conditions are horrible (for people and dogs alike, in some cases). There is no veterinary care available (closest is 120 miles away) and certainly there is no spay and neuter clinic. The dog population is out of control and the local government (Indian band) hosts "shoot days" where the dogs are culled.

There are two women in this community that are doing everything they can to rescue dogs and get them down to the city to be vetted and adopted. They rely soley on donations which have to be driven 10 hours north to them.

Anyway DH and I had made a large donation of food and treats that we got from a neighbour who used to own a pet food store. I left the food and some other supplies at the drivers house along her fence when she wasn't at home (as I was instructed).

Then I found out this past Friday that all the stuff I donated had been stolen. I was heartbroken and a little bit angry. It just seemed so hopeless and there was no way for us to replace the items. :(
Well, one of the organizers made a bunch of calls to local media and the story has made the national (Canadian) news! Donations are coming in from all over Canada and this has been the biggest blessing in disguise!!
We went from devastated to elated overnight! When the story first aired on the national news last night (CTV) it was overwhelming the donations coming in. And tonight it will be on Global National news!

Isn't it amazing? God works in mysterious ways and from tears of sadness on Friday afternoon to tears of joy tonight, what a miracle this has been!

Here's an article about it if you want to check it out.

http://www.globalwinnipeg.com/thief+steals+dozens+of+boxes+of+donations+set+to+help+northern+manitoba+rescue+dogs/6442760151/story.html

And back to your regularly scheduled programs. ;)

As well as passing the buck every chance she gets. Jon's decision for the older girls to check on the fallen child (don't believe it,if Kate wanted to stop and check she would have), they together decide no ER (don't believe it, all her, she's the nurse, she always said what goes), together with Sandy decide to merely steri strip the wound (don't believe it, Sandy said she needed stitches). She was always the driver of the bus in that family. The bus she now throws in reverse and floors whenever she sees Jon in her rear view mirror.
And where in this piece of prose does she ever say, "I scooped little Leah up and hugged her to make her feel better and stop her crying." It's just so odd to me. Why is there no account of Leah crying in that story. Surely there must have been wailing with a gash like that. That should make the journal entry somewhere. I guess if those kids aren't 'shrieking with delight' they don't rate a mention. Or maybe she was too busy composing sentences with the word "I" in them (look at about the last 2/3 of that entry) to think about anyone else.

Re: Leah. I have NO proof, just a theory, that Kate threw her into bed for some transgression and she hit her head. Knowing crying wouldn't help, the injured child finally fell asleep, bleeding from the gash. Kate didn't want Jon to know- was probably going to blame Mady.

Re: Leah's head injury

I was wondering - did this happen after Jon quit his government job? I could totally see kate also not wanting to take Leah to the ER because she didn't want to spend the money. Heck, even if they had insurance she probably wouldn't have spent the money.

One other thought - If they had to take Leah to the ER it would have meant involving other people. They would have had to have called Jodi or Kevin or Beth or some other family helper to watch the other kids while they were gone and those people would have asked questions. And there was no way Kate was going to let Jon take Leah to the hospital without her because he might get his story wrong and Kate didn't want to go.

I'm probably over posting as a newcomer but when I read things like that journal entry it's just so infuriating to me. It's nice to have a place to vent. Really, when I look at things from how I think a normal mother would react, nothing rings true in that entry. When Maddy comes out and interrupts their marriage saving conversation (when she probably knows better than to ever interrupt her mother) Kate should know it's serious. If my husband told me to have the girls check it out, I'd tell him to hold on, I'll check and be right back. But i can almost guarantee, that's not how it happened. Line by line of that entry, nothing rings true. She writes the same way she gives interviews. Always portraying herself in the best possible light.

Re: Leah's head injury.

Maybe another reason they didn't take her to the ER had to do with possible police involvement? When my daughter was around 3 years old, she was coming back from the store with my husband in the winter (it was dark out) and she was running up the outside stairs to our apartment. She ran into the doorjamb. It split her forehead open and we took her to the ER room immediately and she needed 6 stitches. However, we were questioned by the ER doctor that treated her and the ER supervisor about how this accident happened. Afterwards, they explained about their responsiblity when small children are brought in for certain injuries, but that they were convinced that everything happened as we said (they also questioned our daughter about this happened).

Therefore, possibly Kate didn't want to be questioned about how this gash happened? Maybe she was worried about that? I don't know, I am just relating what happened when our daughter received a head injury.

Moose Mania said...

If my husband told me to have the girls check it out, I'd tell him to hold on, I'll check and be right back.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Something similar happened when my youngest was four years old. He hit his head on a piece of furniture while playing tag in the house, which he shouldn't have been doing but that's another story. He went into his bedroom and hid under the blankets. One of his sisters came and told me and my husband that he "thought" her brother was hurt. I raced up the stairs so fast with husband on my heels. Sure enough, there was a gash that required stitches. I called 911 and my husband said, nope, we can get him to the ER faster than the paramedics can get here.

He did indeed require stitches and it was a very nasty wound. Point is, I certainly didn't send someone else to his room to check on him. Wild horses couldn't have kept me away. If the scenario is what happened in Kate's situation, she was (and is) seriously lacking in the innate parenting department. It's a natural reflex to check on your child. You don't send another person or a sibling to do it. You react immediately and you do it yourself.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

I agree with all of those who stated that if their child was hurt, they would come running. I certainly wouldn't send someone to check on them, I'd be doing it myself.

handinhand said...

Also, maybe Kate could have avoided some of this, especially if kids falling out of cribs was a common occurrence (the line "probably Alexis--as usual" is a tip off) by making sure her kids are tired when she puts them to bed. Those kids took four hour naps and were in bed for the night when this happened. M & C were still up at that time, so it was probably before 8pm, the twins bed time I think at that age. The tups were still full of energy and I'd probably be trying to escape my cribbed confines too. I read of foreign orphans that saw more floor time than those six ever did.

Isn't it sad to think what Kate has cheated her kids out of? I understand their can be differences of opinion, but holy cow, get over it Kate. Her life would be so much simpler and her kids lives enriched by having family in their lives.

fidosmommy said...

I'm also puzzling about this some more.

1) The room was carpeted. We know that.
2) There was no mention of a knot on Leah's
forehead, just a gash. What could she have fallen on that was sharp enough to cut her so she needed stitches but not hard enough to give her a bruise? Bed springs?
3) If they knew Alexis fell out of bed fairly regularly, why didn't she have bed rails on her bed?

Formerly Duped said...

In Kate's journal she said she and Jon were discussing marriage issues...in her book she said they were organizing fan mail and packages. Her first priority when she finally saw Leah was to clean up. Leah was lucky she was ok- Kate praises God for looking out for her and her 'healing beautifully' but there is a reason parents are put on this earth!Kate thinks her pseudo-Christian persona absolved her from responsibility.

Yes, I suspect that KK was concerned about questions the ER people might have for her and/or Leah. I'm basing my opinion on my real life with my youngest. She never walked...she ran...often straight into door jams, walls, whatever, resulting in black eyes and/or big knots complete with cuts. I don't even remember how many times I had to take her to the ER.
She fell out of bed, trying to reach a toy in her toy box, and split her head open. When I took her to the ER, they asked me to wait outside, and I could see them talking to her, as one was moving her arms and legs...I knew they were suspecting abuse. After a bit, they called me in and questioned me. I told them I wasn't offended, and I appreciated their caution. However, I knew my child wasn't abused, so I never feared taking her to the ER. I suspect KK couldn't say the same!

Nor did she go to check her in when she thought she had thrown up, she sent Jon in with the flashlight. So we have a loud bang, Kate doesn't check, possible 'snot in hair, Kate doesn't check, thought she threw up, Kate doesn't check, bloody gash on head, Jon discovers while bathing, not Kate (she's cleaning). She enters the story when they bring her downstairs to their bedroom (I'm sure carried by Jon). Then, we have an oozing wound all night, no md. Oozing wound in the morning, no md. Nurse called, said she needed stitches, no md. This is the part of the entry she starts going crazy with the use of the word "I".
Strange just doesn't cover this woman.

She's Come Undone, how great to have your grandkids so close. Yes, we all know the kids would benefit from relationships with other family members, but what Kate doesn't realize is she would, too. She'd have a number of family members who I'm sure would be happy to babysit those kids, even if Kate just wanted a break. And the kids have grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin time. It's a win-win all the way around.

handinhand, you're right. I always thought that the tups were never really tired when they went to bed because they never really had exercise/play time. They couldn't get out of their cribs until after 8:00 AM, they had 4 hour naps that started around 11:00 or noon, then they had bedtime around 7 or 8:00. How much time did those active toddlers have to play and move around? My toddler daughter and my grandkids were out of their cribs way before 8:00 AM, they usually took approximately 2 hour naps, and then were up until around 7:30 or 8:00 PM. In between that time, there was a lot of play, exercise, going outside and just running around, plus games and stories, etc.

Those poor G kids just didn't have enough creative, play, and exercise time to get worn out or tired.

Due to the consideration of the posters here and how we protect each other nothing has come from having my name and some family member's names being revealed. Also, the person who chose to "out" me later used the obituary of my father and some farming details to "upset" me.

Really? How childish and senseless. Shame on them.

I don't understand the motive behind this. What do they hope to gain by publishing information? What is anyone going to do with it? It is just for the sake of proving that they CAN because they think they are clever, or are they just being a biotch for biotch sake? In being the protector of Kate and launching a war against non-fans, do they really think that she cares? On the contrary, I would think that Kate, if she knew, would find this behavior uncalled for. I can't imagine her condoning it. It would only make them look bad in her eyes -- which, of course, only shows how screwed up their thinking is.

Just skimming Kate's twitter and saw the pic of her thanksgiving table. Pathetic looking really. But my point is that if you look carefully you can see the trees and grass outside the left window are covered in SNOW! There was no snow on thanksgiving or any left over from the early snow in early November. Translation, that picture posted was not taken thanksgiving day. She really is not bright and thinks no one can see through this act. If she was so excited to have a great feast with her kids, take a pic of her carving the turkey with her kids. Nope. And paper cups no less. She will never, ever, learn.

All This Is That, I understand what you are saying, but we are thinking like rational human beings, not like Kate. If I'm not mistaken, there have been a few instances this year where Kate has thanked her fans for defending her, even when they were mean and nasty. She encouraged them to stand against the haters. Therefore, I don't believe Kate would believe their behavior was wrong, she would ignore or thank them for it.

Someone who posts here also posted in the comment section on ROL. I recognized some info and put two and two together. ROL uses your Facebook profile for the comments. I visited her partially protected FB page and confirmed that I guessed right.

I never even sent her a friend request because I didn't want her to feel exposed.

Moose Mania said ". . . You don't send another person or a sibling to do it. . . ."

Especially when that sibling is only about 6 or maybe 7 at the time. What were Mady and Cara supposed to do? Lift Alexis back into the crib that was probably as high or higher than their heads? That's assuming it really was Alexis and she just fell trying to climb out of her crib. I agree, the whole story stinks to high heavens. I still can't wrap my mind around a mother whose first instinct is to clean when she has a hurt or upset child. As I've said before, I don't have kids, but still -- who wouldn't cuddle/hug/soothe first and clean up later? Besides KK, that is? Wonder what she'd have done if Jon hadn't been there to take care of Leah? Push it off on Mady and Cara?

I think I might need a book on Twitter for Dummies. Here's my question: Kate shows up an hour ago and starts tweeting. According to the timeline, Milo hasn't been around for three hours, but as soon as Kate announces her presence, Milo is right there. Is there such a thing as a twitter alert, maybe a phone app that alerts you when a person is online tweeting? Or does something scroll on your computer screen? If not, how does Milo always seems to know the minute Kate is tweeting (and retweeting) her annoying platitudes?

Why does the Milo bird suddenly appear, every time Kate is near, longing to be close to her?

I won't lose any sleep tonight over this, but I am curious.

rainbowsandunicorns said...

There was no mention of a knot on Leah's
forehead, just a gash. What could she have fallen on that was sharp enough to cut her so she needed stitches but not hard enough to give her a bruise? Bed springs?

******************

The corner of an end table next to the bed could cause such a gash.

Bearswife -- I meant to comment on your story of the rescue/theft/donations. Yes, the Lord does work in mysterious ways sometimes. Maybe this was His way of getting the story of the rescue out to the world. I just hope that the thieves put the food to good use, instead of just dumping it or letting it go to waste. Stealing it was very wrong, but if it goes to feed other hungry animals, then at least something else good came of this. Oh heck, I'm not saying it very well, but I hope you get the point I'm trying to make!

I'm on the west coast and started watching Liz and Dick. I read the (bad) reviews of the movie prior to watching it but decided to form my own opinion. OMG its awful. I saw Lindsay Lohan when she was younger and thought what a promising actress she was. After seeing part of Liz/Dick movie its clear to me her acting skills were checked at the door. This is a high school performance at best. Lindsay really has no clue how to act or who Elizabeth Taylor really was. After 20 minutes of viewing, I'm through with this movie...forever.

My now 7 year old is still a "run don't walk" kid and I can relate to the comments about bruises etc. One of the aides in her preschool class asked the teacher at the beginning of one school year if they should file a report. Fortunately the teacher knew our family, knew the kind of kid she was and said no it wasn't necessary.

This is also the kid, mind you, who broke both elbows, 6 months apart. One was on the playground at her drop in daycare and the other on the playground at school. Same exact break just a different arm each time. Sigh. I guess she needed a matching set. :-)

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I would say a good 90% of kids who come in with broken bones and bruises are never reported to CPS.

It's all about having a convincing story and acting appropriately--i.e. not nervous or suspicious, very concerned for the child's well being, no other signs something is not right at home (i.e. drugs, domestic violence), etc. Kate as a nurse would probably know that every injury is evaluated for child abuse and maybe she got cold feet.

It's possible. I've seen it happen with my niece. She fell out of bed, hit the sharp corner of the nightstand and put a gash in her head. It was just below the hairline near her temple. No lump, just a bad cut that needed stitches in the middle of the night. I lived only minutes away at the time, and I was called to babysit her sister while her parents took her to the ER. We all expected a huge goose egg on my niece's head, but there was nothing. The wound did leave a scar, though, that's really visible when my niece's face gets cold in the winter. I mean that thing really pops out. Sometimes you can't see it at all. Leah is lucky she has no battle scars from whatever happened.

I am almost 44. As I get older I realize how precious every moment of this life is because it truly is gone in the blink of an eye. (Cue up "100 Years" from Five for Fighting).

More important than wasting your time on fame, celebrity, notoriety, etc. More important than wasting your time being bitter and holding onto grudges and past hurts.
More important than letting your fears dictate how you live in your life.
More important than the lies our insecurities whisper to us each and every day.

I *know* you guys have been wondering why I haven't non-stop posted over the holiday...(snark).
Want to know why I haven't posted???
It's because I had 5, count'em, 5 kids in the house!
Here's the deal: 5 of my kids were home during the extended holiday. All are older than K8te's...
I run a pretty efficient household, but spending time with the kids, laundry, cooking (lots and lots of cooking), kitchen cleanup (only one dishwasher!), I didn't have time to hardly say 'just one more'.

For Kate to spend her custody time tweeting strangers, she must have plenty of household help..She ought to be up to her eyeballs in dishes, laundry, homework, showers, spending quality time with the kids, etc.

A mom of 8 should be spending her time with her kids, not tweeting strangers. Why anyone would think she is a good mother confounds me (and this opinion is based on her twitter behavior only...if you add her diary to the mix, is proves she is an abusive, neglectful mother).

Why would any mom prefer tweeting strangers? Kids her age are tons of FUN!
(and she likes fun, doesn't she?)

what a world, what a world...

Yup. A blog is more or less for others to enjoy. You don't do it for you. That's what a journal is for (and boy, Kate excelled at that!). It takes work. You have to generate content. It needs to be fed frequently.
I know, I did a food blog for a couple years and it was quite demanding.
After Kate posed for pictures, splashed her own images on her site and wrote probably the stupidest dog blog I've ever seen, it was o-v-e-r.

And sadly her parentified bff daughters probably came home early to be with poor mommy. I am quite sure that it is hard for divorced parents who share custody when it is their non-custodial holiday, but that is what true friends and extended family are for, to include you in their circle.

Since her holiday spirit is about receiving (HER list for children) and not giving, and since this is her first non-sponsored, and possibly first diminished access to grifting, holiday season, the tweeting frenzies with her 6 remaining fans will be interesting. She is already pathetic.

After reading Robert's book and Kate's journal entries about the children falling or climbing out of cribs, I am suprised there were not more injuries.
I did not have 8, I only had a 'mediocre 7' children, but the one thing I was always very careful about was their safety in cribs.
The moment they could climb over the side of a crib we would put them in a low to the ground toddler bed with a rail and also put a thin mattress on the floor when they first went into the toddler bed.
Another thing I would never do is lock the door, that is so incredibly dangerous if there is a fire.
I just can't imagine not rushing straight away to any noise in a child's bedroom, didn't she have monitors? We live in a large older style 2 story house with double brick walls and 14 foot ceilings so we had monitors all over the house, as you couldn't hear from one room to the next, I even ran 2 nurseries, one down stairs and one up, just so I could be closer to sleeping babies. I don't think I was being overly cautious, but you always seem to hear of children being hurt when alone in bedrooms as toddlers.
Her whole attitude to those poor children just seems to be so wrong, how she can hold herself up to be 'the perfect mother' to the public just makes me cringe, it's just so sad.

My mom, dad, brother, my niece, my 3 sons,( 1 finace', 1 wife) one son's gf didn't go, but they went to Cracker Barrel. That is 9 people for dinner on Friday night.

I guess they heard about kate's grifting and it affected my getting reimbursed.

I can't believe that kate would even tweet to Milo. She needs to shut that thing down and be good to her kids. It is just another thing to keep her busy and away from her kids.

====

What was probably going on in the garage was a loud argument so the kids wouldn't hear them fighting and they couldn't hear the kids.

Any cut on a kids head that is 3/4" long and is gushing blood enough to make her parents think she had thrown up should have been stitched up in an ER. No ifs, ands or buts. And BOTH Cara and Mady thought it was important enough to interrupt whatever their parents were doing. That's why she didn't want to take Leah to the ER because no one but one of the twins would have been able to tell the ER staff what happened. The parents didn't know because they weren't anywhere near them when it occurred. IMO, Kate didn't want that to happen so she put herself before her kids once again and made Jon follow her orders.

Secrets must be kept in an abusive household. Victims of abuse learn to keep their mouths SHUT and do what they're told or they will suffer the consequences.

And it probably wasn't the first time this had happened either so there might have been an investigation.

Kate Gosselin THINKS she's fooled the world.

Have you seen the show? Let me refer you to the boys FREAKING OUT when they got their clothes dirty. It drove Jon nuts that the boys would be paralyzed with fear at the prospect of dirt. The one poor boy was apoplectic about crossing a hose with his little car toy. The live is abject fear of their mother.
If you didn't watch the shows, you'd never even guess that Kate has boys.
8 year old boys screeching? Please, how embarrassing.
No child should live in fear of dirt, unless their mother freaks out constantly, calling them "ruined", not letting them roll on the ground because she's too laze to supervise the laundry getting done.

I've often wondered if the story of a hater being fired is true. It's not that I don't think the pie person is capable of it but that her husband would do it. I mean why didn't she do it herself? I can only imagine going to my husband, telling about this person who hates Kate and could he try to get her fired. He would think I was certifiable. And if the person fired is who I think it is, she was a long time employee at her job and it's hard to believe they would fire her over something like this. I would like to hear more details of how this husband got her fired and how the non fan is doing now. Are they still after her, has she got another job? It is just so disgustingly sick that so called grown ups can behave this way.

Kate's aversion to taking the children in to see a medical professional is indicative, to me, of someone who is afraid of questions being asked and possible investigations into her parenting. She is a cruel woman, not a fit mother, and I think the truth slowly dawned on Jon after he was out of the situation. I do believe that Jon is the only safe harbor those children have had - even if he was pretty lame and weak at times. I think they have seen him try to stand up to their mother and they also receive affection and love from him. The Gosselin children got a bum deal in the mom department, but their saving grace may well be Jon and his continued efforts to provide a safe and loving life for them. They will eventually be free from Kate and I hope the truth comes out one day for all to see. She's truly despicable.

Yes, he should have, but I think he was beaten down to the point where he didn't dare oppose her anymore. There is a lot of shame involved in abusive relationships. Kate humiliated him constantly on camera, how do you think she treated him when the cameras weren't there. She overruled him on everything he suggested. I bet Jon wishes he had more of a backbone when married to Kate. She treated him like a child and unfortunately, Jon stopped maturing and reverted to a child under her thumb.
I was really struck by Kates journal account of Jon lying about going to lunch in Philly. I mean, he's a grown man who was too frightened to stand up to his wife and say "tough doo doo" when she asked him about lunch.
She had all the power for many years. It must have driven Kate nuts when Jon went rogue.

I have food issues. I believe it comes from having a mother who was overly controlling over what I ate. Of course, I made choices, but I truly believe they were bad ones in order to take some control over my own life. If my mom would ask me what I had for lunch out with friends, I would tell her I had a hamburger and
a coke. In her mind, that would translate into a small, simple burger (one small patty, ketchup and mustard and a pickle slice) and a small drink. The fact probably was that I ate a Big Mac and french fries and a large Coke. I would NEVER have told her the truth about it. I would have rather lied outright than dealt with her comments about my eating.

I can see Jon in the same boat. Kate was trying to get him to lose weight and was quite
obnoxious about it during couch interviews. So, if he went to Philly and ate, he might have
eaten a large meal, costing some cash. Since he was relegated to $5.00 a week (so we are told), that would clearly be over his allowance.
Besides that, it was food she could not control.
He ate it, but he wasn't going to tell her about it. It would have stirred up comments and
nastiness.

She was mad because he "lied". But if he had come clean, she would have been mad about what he had eaten and probably the cost. There would have been no way for Jon to come out looking like an adult in this scenario, so he
just took the easiest, least contentious road.
He got caught. It made him look weak and just
amplified her freak outs over the little things.
She was actually delighted with the whole thing, I'm willing to bet. Jon got a smackdown and Kate came out as the controller again. Kate wins. Again.

What a household that place must have been. And most likely still is for 8 innocent children.

I wish Jon would do something to make himself more financially secure. He is quite capable I know. He could write a children's book of bedtime stories. He could publish an instruction book or DVD on app making. Or if he would just tinker around and make a really good app that would be very useful to everyone and sell it to a large company. One of my dear friends wrote a book and he has done very well with it, self-published, and he has had to do several re-printings. He didn't get rich but it gave him a residual income that has helped him get out of debt and save a little. It was not a bio or anything like that it was just about a subject he was interested in and knew a lot about. Maybe he could come up with a board game or even better yet (which is something I would be interested in) is a computer game or console game for little kids. There are not many of those around and I think it would go over well. This new generation is ready for the computer by age 4 and there are no good games for them. I would have loved to find a game where the kids could be the good guy, maybe a traffic cop, or a meter maid. My son when he was 4-5 loved cops so much he kept a book and asked them for their autograph whenever he had the opportunity. They were a little taken aback but recovered quickly, and handled it like a champ. There are none that I have found for little girls for the computer or X-Box. How cute would it be to make simple games for kids based on the classics like Three Little Pigs or Peter Pan Little Red Riding Hood that had a good message for kids in the end. I don't think anyone owns full rights to the old nursery rhymes and stories. He could do that I know. He could pick his mother and grandmother's wealth of knowledge and make a cook book of Korean recipes. How many of those do you see around. If only his fans purchased the book that would still be a residual income. He does still have fans. I just hope he is not sitting around in deep despair and is being proactive in making a better life for himself and his kids and not waiting for a TV show to fall in his lap. It is not going to happen.

My kids rated this an 8 out of 10 and since they don’t give 10′s :) due to principle alone, a score of 8 means that it was added to the “make again” list! Yay

Ha ha ha, call the fire department: Kate's pants are on fire AGAIN! It took just a couple of click of the back button to find these:

July 17, 2012: Here is a link to a wonderful recipe for Pesto Pasta with Chicken ...I made this for dinner last night and received 8/10 by Cara (only because the highest she rates is a 9 – it’s her policy, lol) and 9s and 10s from all 7 of my other children!

And from March 26: I got this recipe years ago from a Stonyfield Farms container of yogurt. I’ve made it before and it’s always a hit!!! In fact, received 10 out of 10 from all 8 kids, except for Mady and Cara whose score is a 9 at highest! :) Oh and it’s a very very low fat version of Fettuccini Alfredo so it makes me love it even more!

Now, see, that is what you and I and most everyone else on this blog would do. When I lost my job, and we started eating at home ALLLL the time, I needed to seriously brush up on my cooking-from-scratch skills. I had been working full time for over 25 years. You retain the basics but it was time to brush up!

By spending time with cookbooks and how to guides, your mind has to open to more than just mimicking recipes. You can LEARN about what techniques bring out the best flavors in what cuts of meat, and the reasons why. What spices and herbs blend well and bring out what flavors in other food items. Kate isnt capable of learning that, for one thing she would have to admit that she doesnt already know it all. She is still waiting and believing that when she dumps 2 different cans of sumpthin' together, she will suddenly invent the new coq au vin. All because SHE is just simply all that wonderful. Another reason she isnt capable is because she still honestly believes she is much too busy and exhausted for a n y t h i n g other than her beauty routines.

She doesnt work, she doesnt keep house, she doesnt mind her children alone, she doesnt do yard work, she doesnt volunteer, she only prepares meals on rare occasion, so why she refuses to take time and effort to learn to cook is a puzzlement. Other than it is too mediocre for her.

The dogs had a bit of it last night mixed with a partial portion of dry kibble and they screeched, screamed, squealed, shreaked with delight and gave it 8 front-toes up! Poor G kids would have thought it was a magical recipe.

You realize you would have got a 10/10 if you had added the green beans and snow peas, doncha?

chefsummer, I admire your restraint when it comes to Kate's food pics. I know you probably would have a lot to say about boiled sausage vs browned sausage, but you are gracious about it every time. Somewhere in your education you learned not to criticize until perhaps you taste it? But all snark aside, chef, I do admire you!

Kate is a "stah". She doesn't need to learn to do anything, don't you know? Disgustingly arrogant, really. And did I say, "mediocre"? She hates that, but she really is mediocre.

I love cookbooks and I also get food magazines. Cook's Illustrated fascinates me--I enjoy learning the how, why and how-to of it all. I think Kate believes that she can divine cooking knowledge from thin air, but you can't. It takes discipline to learn the science behind cooking and I just don't think Kate is a curious person by nature.

Or waved the wooden mixing spoon at them and threatened them with a breakdown?

But seriously, if the vet approves I might try some chopped apple in there when I duplicate my triumphant awesomeish success with the Christmas turkey carcass! Oh in the meantime, I have no idea what I am serving HunnyBunny tonight. oops. hehe

Slop is a good word; she insults the word cacciatore. And if that 'recipe' is truly meant to serve 8 children, who are 8 and 12 years old, then she is a child abuser. Sorry, cannot think of a nicer way to say it.

And she thinks she can get a real cookbook published OMG. Guess what Milo is probably making for dinner tonight?

Oh she'll love Kate's cacciatore recipe won't she.

Actually it has been determined that Milo sort of acts like a pug, so that dish will probably have her howling at the moon tonight.

Does anyone know why Twitter has so many repeat posts? One after the other, saying the same thing. Does Twitter do this or do the people just keep hitting send?

Dwindle if you feed HB your simmered turkey caracass with the carrots and white rice, guaranteed it will taste better than that stuff Kate calls sausage cacciatore.

Rouladen is on the menu here tonight so I'd better get at it.

My kids rated this an 8 out of 10 and since they don’t give 10′s :) due to principle alone, a score of 8 means that it was added to the “make again” list! Yay

Hasn't Kate the Liar always said the kids rate her food a 10 out of 10 while they're screaming and screeching over their fabulous, one of a kind meal made from MOMMY the most wonderful person and mother in the whole frickin' world? What happened?
