Only read the first 50 or so posts, so forgive me if I'm off subject a bit. Unless Khate thinks her autograph is worth more than $20, that is a pretty crappy prize she's offering. The shipping probably costs more than the book itself. My hubby bought me a joke copy of IJWYTK for Xmas last year for $2.00 at Ollie's Bargain Outlet. It's now worth no more than the paper it's printed on.
I also agree with those that said Khate could have handled it so much better. BM wasn't trying to hijack Khate's contest. All Khate had to ask was for BM to refer her fans to follow Khate's twitter. Here's the thing, though. Yes, she was nasty to her and could have worded it much differently, or not said anything at all. That was wrong. But, she can't call BM for a three-minute interview. She can't encourage her because if you throw just one small biscuit (not even a bone) that's when the problems start, and she will be relentless. We're not talking about a "normal" fan here. I think Kate knows this.

If there is a show with Kate dating, I could care less. The kids were the draw, although I stopped watching several years ago,when I realized Kate was an opportunist, willing to exploit her own children for fame, no matter the cost to the kids.
Let Kate make an ass of herself (although the kids deserve better) if she leaves them out of filming and ridicule for classmates and all of the world to see. I don't believe we're supposed to discuss school matters here, but speaking generically (can I get around it this way??!!), older kids have some reading assignments with very simple follow up writing to do. Younger kids are encouraged to read on a daily basis, and BE READ TO, and maybe go to the library or bookstore. There's an emphasis on poetry, with the parent helping to recite poetry and write simple rhymes. That's the only project.
Her "project" would be to make sure that the kids are reading the assigned material, reading to them and with them, and following up on it.
Parents are not given assignments to do on their own! It seems she is making a mountain out of a molehill!

- Some people think a dating show for Kate is OK as long as the kids aren't on it. I respectfully disagree, as anything she does in public will reflect on her children now.She has put them in the public eye forever.
I cannot imagine any 10/11 year olds that would not freak the hell out if their mother was on national tv on a dating show/series. All their friends would know, and it would be horribly embarrassing for them. Most mothers would realize that and never even consider doing it.

I know schools around here, generally do not have assignments as such, private or public. In one of the my daughters' area the private schools DO assign things to parents.

I do agree that if she goes it alone GREAT. But I think we all know she won't. As you say it would be a flop. TLC knows this, Kate knows this. I can't believe that Kate twatted that she dreams of a "south africa - jungle safari". She obviously knows nothing about South Africa. Last I looked, they didn't have jungles there. The Veldt, deserts, some mountains, but NO jungles. It's obvious she's just putting anything and everything out there in hopes of getting more free trips.
Seeing all the craziness coming out of KateCentral the past few days makes me appreciate even more the fact that Jon lasted with her as long as he did AND has emerged relatively sane and whole. No regrets - you're welcome. I was thinking about what a "project" might mean to Kate. I believe this is just one more exaggeration to confirm her claim that she's so exhausted and tired. This "project" is the simple act of reading to a child or sharing a book for 20 minutes a day. It's parental involvement in the daily lives of her children. She's not used to doing it.
This comes easy for most parents who are involved in their children's lives - taking walks, discussing around the dinner table what was read and how it applies to everyday life...finding beauty in nature, looking at the stars or living creatures, or going to the library to find books centered around various themes. Parents do this. Kate never has, and perhaps she's finding this stressful, especially since her area of concentration right now is tweeting and making up rules for a contest, all of which is much more important to her than seeing to it that her children are ready to share their summer reading assignments on the first day of school.

Just want to comment, not disagreeing about the strangeness of the grocery shopping. The Lebanon Valley Mall is not a stretch for someone in Hershey. I know. I live in Hershey. The Lebanon Vally Mall is essentially the same distance as Harrisburg East or Colonial Park. Frankly, I spend the extra 10 minutes and take myself to Lancaster Park City because none of those malls here offer anything and us "locals" have nicknames for them.
Anyway, I don't know about the grocery shopping this fan was doing. I could see someone hitting the Reading Outlets (Vanity Fair) or even the Green Dragon on Fridays, but unless this grocery store is something special, I don't why anyone would drive 40 mins to the Reading area to grocery shop.
I'm curious if anyone knows where this "super fan" lives in Hershey. I think someone mentioned an apartment complex - I would happily take a drive today to see if there is a sign up and then post a counter sign.

The "school project" that Kate referred to was printing 100 pictures for the kids' school folders. Huge project that I'm sure it took the printer all of 15 minutes to complete.
Saw some great pictures of Heidi Klum playing with her kids on the beach, actually playing, swimming, totally wet in the water. Has there ever been one picture of Kate ever in the ocean or pool with the kids? Other than maybe one time in Hawaii or swimming w/ dolphins.

Agreed. There is a Redner's in Palmyra (for those not familiar, Palmyra is between Hershey and Lebanon). The Redner's is literally ten minutes down Rt 422 from chocolate factory, so no reason to be at one in Sinking Springs.
I LOVE Roots - I try to go every Tuesday I am available. And yes, it is very much closer than the Green Dragon. I doubt anyone from Hershey would travel to the Green Dragon on a Friday night. I could see taking a trip on a Friday morning for a change of pace (or if you couldn't make it to Roots on a Tuesday, or the Palmyra farmer's market on Sat. or the Hershey farmer's market on Thursdays, or the Grantville Fri/Sat.) Actually there is little reason any longer to go to the Green Dragon.
I have seen some of the tweets from this fan and they are indeed reminiscent of the Single White Female. I wasn't really planning to post a sign, I should clarified that was just snark. Sorry.
On a serious note, I have concerns about the pathology of some Khate's fans. Some I just pity because they must be lonely souls who may just find their only relationship connections via the internet. Khate may not be the only "celebrity" they try to make contact with. However, some of the others have begun to really become concerning. My concern is for the children and the children alone....just want to make that clear. Who knows what one of these delusional fans might try to do.

Re meeting a man; the only type of man that Gosselin woman wants is a Spencer Pratt or Jake Pavleka type. Meet a man at a church function?! HA! Re a dating show with Jamie; it all just clicked in my meager brain. I bet it's a done deal already. That is why TLC is promoting Jamie and that is why that Gosselin woman is allowing Jamie to talk tough with her on camera. It's all part of a role they are playing for a new show and TLC is smartly introducing Jamie slowly to the sheeple. Sheeple, as we know, do not adjust easily to change.
Re the signs that woman wants displayed; I think she knows without a doubt the children's show is over. These antics are not about saving the show, it is about blaming TLC for not promoting HER enough and for showing future projects how suddenly devoted she is to promoting any future venture.
Re her speaking style; I guess she continues to surprise me. She wanted very badly to have a media career, I am stunned she didnt work at it. Intense training on her speech, her diction, her demeanor, her grammar, her presentation, eye contact, interviewing skills, etc. I know with her mental illness she dismissed the idea that she needed training in any of those areas, but it still surprises me that she put no personal OCD effort into improving herself.
Re the kids embarrasment; The twins are nearly 11 years old. Their childhoods are destroyed. They will never even be able to run to the corner drug store for maxi-pads without hearing from people what an ass their mother is, and without some shopper or clerk taking to twitter to annouce which twin is having her period right now. They will be recognized for the rest of their lives. Their college transcipts will be leaked and every A will be because their mother is so wonderful and every C will be because their father is... something or another bad. At some point in the years to come one or two of the kids will publicize how awful their upbringing was and they will get bashed horribly in public by sheeple who will call them ungrateful liars, as will their own mother.
For the sheeple that are reading this: Please stop gawking and peeping at these children. Please. They are none of your business and you are helping their mother harm them.

Only tv in my house tonight is going to be a baeball game. I see the Twitch is moaning about her messy house (ok, so get off the twitter and pick it up) and patting herself on her gourmet back for making custom pizzas for lunch. Oh please, take out Boboli shells and put prepared toppings on it, but nice of her to let them choose - wow, that was exhausting. Now I'm exhausted reading about it.
As I said earlier, there is no real interest in dating, she has no idea how to relate to anyone - and she is too much of a STAH to go to church and talk to some nice divorced dads over coffee. And too phony to go about it in any normal way.
School projects? Sounds like she's downloading and printing pictures to put on kids' folders/portfolios - yep, really hard work - but since you have 8 kids, yes, it could get kinda boring. I always hated filling out back to school paperwork x3, but really K8 what the hell else do you have to do, and if you stepped away from the Twitter . . .
Put me in the group of devastated fans when "My So Called Life" was cancelled. There really hasn't been a good teen drama since then, of course I haven't been a teen since then either!!
And since I am posting, I have to say that the signs the sheep made were very 'amateur-ish'! My 5 year old niece (who I spent the weekend with) could make a similar one. Finger paints and pretzels? I just don't know what to think about any of it. It's all so sad!
Of course none of you have seen my entries to admin's contest!! You might think mine were sad too! But, I can assure you that no 'ingredients' from the kitchen were used. ;)

Exactly. She didn't just now find out she had to do this. She's been procrastinating. When she said "project" I thought it had something to do with academics/reading assignments and she was doing her kids' homework for them. You have eight kids - you do what needs to be done and you stay off Twitter until its done.
Are all of those who entered the ridiculous contest out there today, photographing and offering validation that their signs are still on public display? ;-) Are they disqualified if they can't provide proof?
I wonder if Kate was on the phone with the suits today.
But no, she is twitting every minute or so it reads this morning, maybe a 20 minute break to make custom pizzas. And what it is so sad it that her kids are home, going back to school soon and all the eff she can do is tweet. Apparently she does not even need to go school shopping (well maybe if TLC would film it). I doubt they spend this much time alone on their Daddy weekends. I get to play here today because my kids are grown, and I am on summer vacation - I NEVER took thiis kind of time away when mine were the ages that hers are. I know we did not have computers and social media, but I certainly was not on the phone all day to to friends, or sitting by myself reading a book, same thing. Pathetic twitch.

Me too! And Scrubs, Friends, etc. I LOVE Cougar Town, Modern Family, The Middle...I just love scripted TV. There is nothing that compares IMO! What happened to good old television? MY So-Called Life was so great. Do you all remember the show with Patti Lupone (sp?)? She had a daughter, Kelli Martin & a son with down-syndrome & another son I believe? My Life maybe? THAT show was really, really good. Oh! And The Wonder Years! LOVED that one. And Grey's Anatomy is SUPER awesome!! I could go on & on, but I won't...LOL

I just have to tip my hat to all of you very perceptive and smart people who called this ridiculous attempt to boost ratings for what is was-- life support.
It appears that the kid's show is cancelled. I would not be surprised if TLC floats an episode or two of a Kate dating show to gauge interest, but at least the kids will get more privacy than they have now.
I hope Kate handles it ok for the children's sake, and I hope she gets a gig that she likes and doesn't reflect poorly on or embarass the kids.

TLC – the network that gave viewers a firsthand glimpse of Kate's tumultuous and highly publicized split from ex-husband Jon Gosselin while they continued to raise their eight children – will no longer follow the 36-year-old and her brood with cameras.
"TLC has decided not to renew another season of Kate Plus 8," a network rep told PEOPLE in a statement. "By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon & Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future."

I find it highly coincidential-ish that this all so brief announcement comes the afternoon after her manic tweeting frenzy for promotion.

I actually feel bad (and I think Admin called this from waaay back). Kate has confirmed via twitter. Confirmed, not announce. She can not even type the words, and is just saying "yes".
Kate may have had an inkling that this was coming, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kate found out at the last minute, or like the rest of us with the TLC press release to People.
Wouldn't be funny if the twitter contest was the last straw?

OH my! I was away for a few hours and I'm just checking in, haven't even read it all yet, stopped when I got to the posts about the news! But, I have to comment first!
I SWEAR I am not lying here everyone but get this - a few hours ago, I was thinking about this whole mess and wondering what I'd see when I got back here today, and also what what was going on at TLC today. I KNEW Khate would have gotten in trouble (I sent TLC a lot of tweets last night and earlier today, btw). So, anyway, a couple of hours ago, I was thinking Gee, maybe THIS is finally Khate's undoing, maybe TLC saw this INSANE crap today and the shit hit the fan at TLC. I thought to myself, you know, if I were in charge at TLC and we had plans not to renew her show but we were not going to tell her until the fall, after all the taped shows were through airing, well, what Khate did last night and today would have pissed me off so bad that I would have made the executive decision and said "That's IT! Can her effing ass NOW!"
OMG, I swear, that was what I was thinking just a few of hours ago! You know, for TLC to actually do it TODAY confirms for us that we were all right, that the shit REALLY DID hit the fan over this crazy contest crap Khate's doing on Twitter! SHE is her own undoing, just like we ALWAYS said she was and would be!

Please, dear God, let this be the end of public lives for the Gosselin kids. NO more tv shows, please. Also, I really hope Khate doesn't lose it on them. I said it last night, I really am worried for the kids, especially after seeing Khate's current state/mental illness. I just hope they can start a new school year in peace, have a normal life now that they don't have to be pulled out of school, dragged around filming, or work weekends and after school with TLC crews at the house. Let them be kids, concentrate on school, have friendships, sports, activities, fun, etc.

Not too long ago she said that they were still "reworking it." She'd pop on various shows and say how busy she is because she has Kate Plus Eight, and "my show is in the works."

Well, so much for South Africa, Ireland, Sweden, Asia, and heaven knows where else. I guess the bucket list has been dumped right along with her show. At least she got to see HER Rushmore.

This is a red-letter day, friends! Thank God the show is finally over and now maybe those kids can have a semi-normal life (it will never be normal w/Kate). Lower that fork, Admin!!

OK, so another poster said there are rules & regulations of having a TV personality giving a contest. I believe it! Kate is having her teen fans running around in public, hanging signs, putting themselves in danger & for what? To keep a dead show on it's last breath. So, TLC gets wind of this little stunt that they had no clue about. They finally see Kate, twittering up a frenzy, making her "fans" watch this ailing show, "you tell 10 people" & so on. She is having this contest & again, gets ZERO permission from HER BOSSES, presumably.
So, on she goes, doing what SHE thinks is best FOR HER. Taking ZERO consideration to the fact that she could get into serious trouble, or one of her young fans could get into serious trouble. When TLC brass finds out, they FLIP OUT. This is the last straw. They can't justify anything any longer: her ratings suck, her attitude sucks, her show is pointless, NO ONE can relate to her anymore & the kids want to move on. Not to mention that Kate is just not likeable at all.
Kate gets a phone call, most likely late last night or today telling her that it's over. Now, we all have called this from DAY ONE. The twittering will STOP cold. Her fans will be left hanging, & Kate will be but a blip on the radar. In a half a year, it will be "Kate Gosselin who?" The kids will eventually be living w/ Jon, & Kate will TRY & pursue a solo career but since reality TV is so...lame nobody will want to touch her. Her 'career' is over. She will shun her fans, her kids, & whomever is left in her life. She will end up on "Celebrity Rehab", or something equally embarrassing.
Oh, but just ONE more time, she'll hit the talk-show circuits, telling everyone how TLC took money out of HER pocket & the kids' college funds & how it's THEIR fault this ALL happened & how she's so broke...for sympathy. It will get her nowhere. (sorry for the long post!)

Most reality people leave their hometown and go to LA to try to " STAY " in the biz and they are almost always back home in a yr. WHY wont she just go away!??
