No excuses this time. There was nothing else on worth watching. It's the summer so regular programs are not showing new episodes. No real sports to speak of to compete.

Face it, people want to see the narcissist make an utter fool of herself by getting her foot licked and the like, and that's it. Anything else is BOOORRRING.

Thanks for the good news, Admin.! Maybe this is why she has been so quiet to her twitty tweeters!Maybe since having twitty tweeters and still not having a great rating, perhaps she will cut the cord now.

One year ago, her ratings were 3.2 million. Think about that. Just a year ago. Then in July 2010, they were 2 million and some change and she's not seen numbers like that since then. It's been straight downhill.

They won't keep taping and airing through February 2012. I'd bet my life savings on that. It's a money loser for TLC now, and has been. I really doubt she'll even have new episodes taped much after this.

The appearance and live tweeting did nothing to help the ratings. And that was the purpose of all that, make no mistake. She flopped.

Thanks to those who took the time to find these ratings!

I guess we won't be seeing anymore of the Gosselins Giving Back, as ratings dipped below a million. Viewers want to see Kate do the crazy stuff, not making an attempt to give back after all these years.

Isn't it sad when the only thing that can raise your ratings is having your foot licked while you are drunk in a NYC bar?

From the previous thread:

I find it quite interesting that TLC and Kate have encouraged the children to paint themselves with pudding at the Outer Banks, to
have an egg toss at the dude ranch and have Ashley play with food with them while Kate was in NYC. And NOW, they're telling us that food is a precious commodity that too many people don't have enough of.

Contradiction? I think so. Wouldn't I love to see a TLC producer sit on Kate's couch and tell the viewing audience how foolish TLC was to encourage and arrange the wasting of food for the purpose of entertainment.

Next week's episode is a Hodge Podge Dinner:
"For the first time ever, Kate lets the kids take over her kitchen, from baking treats to planning their own meal. They are off to the dialysis center where she and the kids hand deliver baked goods to those undergoing treatment."

This is the episode Kate called "gross dinner" on the Today show. How callous of TLC to show an episode about feeding hungry, struggling families then follow it with a "gross dinner". I hope whatever the kids ended up making didn't go to waste because it was too disgusting to eat.

Off-topic but I read somewhere that Kate mentioned TLC was partnering up with Feeding America or Second Harvest. I wonder if Discovery is also a partner because during Deadliest Catch: After the Catch the Hillstrands mentioned how they bought 1800 eggs to egg another captain's boat as a prank, basically buying all the eggs available in Dutch Harbor, AK. They even laughed about it, making some joke about kids not getting to eat pancakes for a week.

It's irresponsible for any tv network to waste food and other products (like toilet paper) for fun and entertainment, especially when many American families are struggling to feed themselves or even buy basic necessities like toilet paper.

silimom said...

So does that mean we'll see more toe/foot licking episodes and Kate getting drunk episodes? Sadly, the answer is most likely yes. I don't think TLC will drop her. They may stop filming K + 8 (one can dream) but I think Kate is that pathetic woman everyone loves to snark on who doesn't realize or care that she is the butt of jokes just as long as she gets to still play with the "in" crowd, if only peripherally.

Pst, I KNOW it's tongue in cheek anonymous. I've used that expression many times here. I made a typo. At least I know everyone in this hemisphere shares the same seasons and who Crazy Horse was.

I still find it ridiculous that trolls here picked on every little thing for months and months. Then when Kate got a twatter and started making 100 times the mistakes ever made here, she gets a free pass. Figures.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Isn't it sad when the only thing that can raise your ratings is having your foot licked while you are drunk in a NYC bar?
&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Even sadder is that while they were busy doing the only thing that would raise ratings, getting Kate trashed for two days straight and hiring some actor in a Ralph Lauren polo and cross necklace to lick her foot, the kids were at home working WITHOUT A PARENT ON SET.

She's down 496,000 viewers from Episode one of last week. Also, she's getting a paltry .3 in the demo.

Just taking a look at all the numbers since June 2010, she has currently has less than one third the viewers she had last June.

******
Au contraire! Mondays from 10pm-11pm is my favorite hour of TV all week. Well, up until last Monay which was the season finale of Nurse Jackie and the series finale of United States of Tara. Both run back to back on Showtime.
Incredible television- original, unique, thought-provoking and funny (in a dark way). A far, far cry from the mind-numbing new country past time of watching other people live their lives in "reality" tv, which is a misnomer if every there was one.
Still, at .9 million, it's hard to believe that both of my favorite shows, with incredibly talented actors, combined, barely add up to the dwindling K+8 numbers.
My sense is that if TLC isn't pushing hard, putting Kate out there in the media, the numbers will not surge. The b-day episode might have pulled in viewers or nostalgia's sake, but it apparently was a blip.
One thing is for sure, without Jon, and what with the kids getting older and Kate behaving (and dressing) more bizarrely and living lavishly, people are tuning out.
Aside from my support of Jon and finding him likeable (always have), I just don't think the show works without him. Way back when, the show was more real than contrived. It's an insult to try to pass this show off as anything else but one highly produced episode/freebie/product placement. It's not real anymore. Not in the least.

butt (spelling INTENDED) even the 'licking' didn't bring in all that many viewers compared to a year ago. People are sick of this white trash getting mega rewards for disgusting behavior. The whole family (9 of them, count 'em, N I N E) is so entitled, ungrateful and downright obnoxious, they are not fun or interesting, so WHY film them? She is such a flop, that on the 'Best Of' lists, she never even makes the list and on the 'Worst Of' lists, she's there like an also ran, never 'good' enough to be the 'worst'.

in Newtown, PA. Don't know where it is, but understand your school teachers are some of the highest paid in the state of Pa.

Wish us well, we have a mountain to climb right now, we appreciate anyone who comes down here to help and brings a load of groceries with them.

*************
Teacher in Tn, I hope you're right! I hope that you continue to raise awareness and that other high-profile people bring attention to your needs.
Regarding you're wish to live up North, let me tell you that Newtown is a lovely place to live. It's also expensive, so while you bemoan the high salaries compared to your region, please take in to consideration the cost of living would choke a horse where you live.
If you want to take on at least, at least 300K (and that's a shack) in housing, and the most expensive insurance rates perhaps in the country, then by all means, move. But, if not, be glad that that 300K would probably buy South Fork in your neck of the woods, and that's not a bad thing either.
The grass is always greener, eh?

Kate did talk about this upcoming episode on The Today Show. What I find odd is that she never mentions bringing baked treats to the dialysis center. She only mentions the kids making a gross dinner, which was apparently all her idea.

If you are trying to change your image and show that you are a caring family trying to give back, then why not mention that you and the kids brought treats to the dialysis center. Oh, I know, because that part of the show probably wasn't Kate's idea. What am I thinking.

The article that Mimi3 posted at the end of the previous thread, (imperfect woman blog, I think) is well worth a read. Just nails Kate. I love the last paragraph, perfect description of this despicable woman!

Might as well face it, TLC, Khate is just not believable in the nicey, nicey, love my tweeties, I'm a good mom watch me give back role.

In the south one of the best compliments that can be paid is "he/she will give you the shirt off his/her back." That is a compliment that Khate will never hear, no matter what she does.

When did the show get good ratings? When they were a family, and did regular things that regular families do and Khate wore her comfy sweats and the camera zoomed in her wide butt when she walked away after talking about Jon being fat (in essence). Someone having the wherewithall to tell her to take the stick out - that is when.

I have tried to watch the show and get back into it but the kids are just not the same since the divorce. They may smile for the camera but the underlying sadness is not to be missed.

so sick of her said...

Doing a HAPPY DANCE! But, you know the sheeple will say that viewers were at the event, that's why the ratings were down. Yeah! right! Or their power was out. Or the classic: it was Jons' fault. I agree, they watched to see the foot-licking, and the kids turn 7, the easter episode got ratings cause, people did not change channel. But, that show the rating dipped a bit. So, if the easter episode was by itself, ratings would have been even lower. Perhaps, people did not watch, because, we already know about hunger, people who are living on the edge, might not want to be reminded of it. Nor do they want to see a family who, grifts, get paid for this episode, stay in 5 star hotel etc. *I did not watch, cause Kate is a fake.

For that matter, do they really think Kate cares if kids in Nebraska have the school supplies they need? I know that sounds harsh, but this is Kate we are talking about. It is just so unbelievable to me that they can overlook what Kate has proven to be, and live in this dream world to think Kate cares about other people! She doesn't. Maybe before she funds another trip (we all believe she did that on her own dime, right), she could spring for some gym classes or summer camp for the kids!

E-town Neighbor said...

+++++++++++++++

I think before Kate helps with fund-raising at a school in Nebraska, she needs to look at her kids' OWN SCHOOL and participate there in the various fund-raising activities, and then open her pocketbook like the rest of the school parents and school community!

Oh, wait - no filming is allowed at school. TLC can't milk it there for all it's worth, and because it wouldn't benefit her in any way, that idea would be scrapped.

Too bad a show with such a great message got ruined because who was in it. Kate could have done MUCH more to ensure that the Food Bank got more, like writing a check for even a quarter of her salary for this show, or anything, but no. And now probably the only time her fan {typo & it stays} will even see Kate giving back blew up in TLC's face. It really is too bad that more people would rather watch some drunken idiot lick another drunken idiot's foot.

Numbers do matter said...

Not only is .938 million viewers bad, but even worse according to Bill Gorman from TvbytheNumbers; it's the demographic ratings that really matter. He replied to a question about another cable show (Hard times of RJ Berger) where the person thought the show was doing well and said: "Viewership is meaningless to the show’s prospects, only the demo group ratings matter. HToRJB’s 0.3/0.4 for A18-49 is not particularly good, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were cancelled (but neither would I be surprised if it were renewed), but putting it out as an example of a show that’s doing well is a mistake."

Advertisers use the demographics when deciding where to spend their money and of course networks use them when deciding which shows deserve their investment. I honestly don't know how much longer TLC and their advertisers can continue to take the hostility and ridicule for their support of Kate when the numbers are staring them in the face and telling them that viewers simply don't want to see her anymore. Let's hope her demographics continue to decline and slide -- right off to oblivion!

Let's face it....even if the show was fabulous it would still not last forever. Even the best and most popular shows end eventually....to make way for new ones. The real issue is whether or not you are a bankable celebrity and can continue your career on TV.....and so far, most reality stars have not been...at least not for very long. Even Omarosa disappeared eventually.

Kate may even have a bit more longevity than most of the other reality stars....mainly due to her notoriety....her infamy, not her fame. But she has no real talent that she could use for other entertainment venues. She can only be Kate...and nothing else.

The only thing she does have in terms of public interest are the children.....which is what most of us worry about. She would likely use the children to continue the flow of $ coming in....but she would find it difficult if the attention and celebrity became centered on only them and not her.

If the children have no outstanding talent(s), however, they won't have much longevity either, in terms of remaining a bankable celebrity. Plus, I can't see Kate staying on the sidelines and she would probably insinuate herself into any show where they only wanted the child(ren) in it....which would likely decrease the chances of the child(ren) being hired for celebrity venues.

I don't necessarily think that Kate is the reason for the dropping ratings and the eventual cancellation.....since that would have happened at some point anyway...like it does with all TV shows.
But I do think Kate only has herself to blame if she...after the show is cancelled...cannot extend her celebrity career for any substantial amount of time. Although....the phrase "herself to blame" isn't really accurate or even fair...for as a person with severe NPD, she truly cannot control her own behavior.

Crying poverty again? Does she have foot-in-mouth disease? Is she ever going to keep her mouth shut and not keep playing the "poor me" card? Exactly how much does she get in child support? How much does she get per episode? We get it, Kate. You have eight kids. We know. Those eight kids are also working kids, so you have NINE, count 'em, NINE people drawing paychecks in that family, PLUS child support! Just how poor are you again?

Maybe the treats were for the technicians to eat? My mother likes to leave treats for the techs that work at the local dialysis center too (my dad is a dialysis patient).

Pink Straight.......I did consider that the techs would enjoy some treats! And some people just have to have dialysis, no diabetes involved, so perhaps they could enjoy as well. I guess I just thought it an odd choice. The patients leave after their treatment. I work with the homeless, elderly, work at a food bank, etc., I would have picked a nursing home or something. Some of those people are absolutely starved for attention and they love nothing more than a sweet treat and someone to talk to and/or hold their hand. And they love little kids!

I've always wondered what a new immigrant/refugee to this country must think when they enter one of our grocery stores? The mountains of fresh produce, the ailes and ailes of staple foods, mounds of meat, fish etc,... Yes, Food Banks are needed, but they're as common as the 7-Eleven on every corner. Just because there are MORE does not mean people are MORE destitute as in the WORLD WIDE GREAT DEPRESSION. PLUS, middle class was almost unheard of back then, poor WAS the middle class. Too bad the only winning Kate thinks of for herself, though.

How simple would it have been for Kate to lend her support via Twitter for local zoos (since she said she wanted to give to koalas), animal shelters, food banks, homeless shelters, etc, etc, but she's never done even one. Check out her Twitter - all she managed to do was re-tweet what the director of the Tennessee food bank had already tweeted.
Chek out this self-serving tweet: GM!In transit, almost home by now. Thx again4all the love&support!&2 Feeding America/Second Harvest, I'm here.Call if I can be of help again!

Kate - the trip wasn't supposed to be for you - it was supposed to be for Second Harvest!
Helping someone doesn't involve taking a trip, but we know that's all Kate thinks it's about. Imagine the good she "could" have done in the past 1-2 years if she hadn't ruined every opportunity handed to her and if she was truly a giving person just by lending her "name" to a cause. She doesn't have an ounce of ingenuity or a creative bone in her body. Nothing matters to her except how her actions can somehow benefit HERSELF = S.E.L.F.I.S.H.

Obviously she isn't going to have lunch with a sheeple because it's not going to benefit HER. However, do you think that it's not only her narcissism coming into play here, but just stupidity, because as you said, she hasn't a creative bone in her body. Shouldn't have pr people have put her out there, lending her name to charity organizations? If Kate is too dumb to do this, it would seem that she should have advisers who could help her.

Or maybe she doesn't take advice from anyone because they just don't know how to teach her, how she learns, and therefore just can't help her.

Oh my goodness, after seeing that tweet from a fan about a scrapbooking convention, I realized Kate should take up scrapbooking! My narcissist sister-in-law is obsessed with scrapbooking and belongs to many groups who post their layouts online. (I have nothing against scrapbooking, by the way.) A common theme is AAM - she told me that means 'all about me.' She actually takes pictures of herself for her AAM album and scraps them! Kate, are you paying attention!? You could be overlooking a whole new group of people who might pay attention to you! When you came across your older girls' first-year calendars, you went on and on about yourself and not them - this is right up your alley!

Next week's episode is a Hodge Podge Dinner:
"For the first time ever, Kate lets the kids take over her kitchen, from baking treats to planning their own meal. They are off to the dialysis center where she and the kids hand deliver baked goods to those undergoing treatment."

WHOA! Wait...what?

Aren't most dialysis patients on restricted diets? Baked goods for people on dialysis who are diabetics?

I don't know if all dialysis patients have to watch what they eat, but the ones I know who go three times a week ( because of kidney failure from diabetes ) would get the stink eye from their doctor for eating baked goods.

On the gross dinner epi coming up, I thought 'huh?' about taking treats to a center. Many people (not all, of course) are in renal failure and on dialysis because their kidneys have been ravaged by diabetes. They cannot have treats; they must count every carb they consume, and they can't dialysis eat/drink many.

************************************************

Correct PJ's momma.

Maybe the treats were for the technicians to eat? My mother likes to leave treats for the techs that work at the local dialysis center too (my dad is a dialysis patient).

But the description of the episode says they took them to the dialysis center to give to the people undergoing treatment.

I know not everybody having dialysis has diabetes, but isn't it rude to give treats to some and not all? "Sorry Mr. Jones. You can't have a brownie because you're not supposed to eat this stuff. Everybody else, enjoy!"

*******
First, we don't know what they took to the dialysis center, who they offered said goods to and what each patient's medical history is. Why jump all over this?
This is a nice gesture and yes, it's all for the show, I know that. We all know that. It would not be happening without cameras of some sort. But lighten up! At least it's a learning moment for the kids.
There are plenty of reasons to wtf?? Kate's actions, but seriously, this?
In other news...who else finds this (very predictable) total blow off of Kate's "tweety" who wanted she and her daughter to get together with Kate for lunch?
Um...gee....let me check my calendar...nope, I'm busy the entire month of August. Yes, the entire month, with getting her kids ready to go back to school. Well, there's the annual filming of the kid's clothing and shoe shopping, hmmm...then the filming of the kids' book bags and lunch bags...then the haircuts....
Whew, what a schedule. No time for a 2 hour lunch to meet a die hard fan.
Hopefully, this one particular (and I'm sure well-meaning fan) devotee "gets it"- that her other followers recognize this for what it is. A blow off.
Kate doesn't want to know you! She wants to talk about herself all day and receive affirmations from you. Nothing more. Oh, try to increase the "chatter" out there to buoy her ratings.
Not that I blame her for not wanted to give personal info out and meet a total stranger (especially with kids present). I just wouldn't lead anyone on like she does.

I agree, poor choice for a 'staged' giving back episode. Why not go back to the hospital where the tups were born and try and make amends for how she treated the staff there? And this time don't let your kids run wild and have to have one of the doctors scold you? How about going back and not admire/sob at the newspaper clippings of yoursef plastered all over the place? How about make a 'silent' donation to the hospital or Ronald McDonald House? Or go and rock preemies? Go without an entourage, unannounced and make yourself available to do ANYTHING they ask of you?????

Yes, that's how it works. Diabetics encounter dietary restrictions every day. If they went to a nursing home instead, for example, there would be diabetics, people with heart disease and other conditions that may disallow them from indulging in a treat. So what, no one gets any now?
My hope and expectation is that patients handle it like an adult and not a jealous child.
Really. This is trivial minutiae.

Vanessa, there was an episode, perhaps when they were getting ready to move. One of the girls found her first-year calendar. Kate took it and flipped through it, bemoaned about how GOOD she used to be at all that stuff, look HOW SHE documented everything, how tired and overworked SHE WAS now and couldn't, and on and on. Meantime, the child was standing there looking expectant, waiting to hear something about herself, as kids want to do. I was too! For the child's sake, I wanted to hear, "Oh, look how cute you were! I remember when you cut your first tooth!" Didn't happen. This was when the tide was turning for me and I wondered how that crew could stand working with her and the way she made everything about her and was condescending or rude/nasty to those around her.

IMO, When the show seemed to affect the kids Jon said enough's enough. Kate will never do that til they are finally cancelled.
At least when Jon has the kids they have fun. Kate doesn't understand the meaning of fun. She's a flat out bitch of a person and mother.

I've read that the kids get 15% and have to split it. Yes...SPLIT it between the eight of them. Out of that, Queen Bitch is allowed to take any amounts she needs or wants for their schooling, health care, babysitters (nannies), and I forget what else. The other 85% is hers...all hers.
I would like to believe she is planning on using some of HER money for their college educations, but I honestly believe the ones that actually choose to go to college will be depending on financial aid for the most part.

When its Kates time to meet her maker...the only positive thing most people will remember of her is that she kept a clean and orderly home.

Thats pretty sad when you think about all the things she has made no lasting attempt at - I have to wonder if there is not some secret conspiracy between Jon and TLC. They are giving Kate more and more opportunity to bury herself and Jon has more and more ammuntion! I honestly believe that if he were to go for custody of all 8 children a judge would be more sympathetic towards him. I know I would be.

Hmmmm - Who should the kids have as role models? A father who busts his butt everyday for his children OR a mother who pimps them out on reality tv?!? Not a tuff decision if you ask me.

Kate is not giving her children any abilities that will make them long term entertainers. Remember all the "can't afford to pay for" comments? They are not being trained in music, gymnastics, voice, modeling, acting classes, or anything that makes them bankable. They are just two sets of multiples. She is trying to keep the sextuplets little so they will remain "cute" to the viewers. It is not working, Kate. Licking a woman's foot isn't fun to watch either. Where is the talent and "stah" power in that? Sickening, really.

I just googled whether or not dialysis patients can eat "whatever they want" during treatment. The general consensus seems to be that they do need to eat - specifically for diabetics to avoid hypoglycemic episodes - but that it is usually discouraged to eat during treatment (something about causing a drop in blood pressure (also caused by dialysis itself) due to the blood flow to the intestines to aid with digestion.) And I also saw something about eating easily digestible foods (like carbs) prior to treatment....but that usually patients follow the same renal diet they always follow before, during, and after treatment.

That being said - it does seem quite cruel to taked baked treats to a place (whether for some of the patients, the technicians, whatever) that many of the people are suffering from life-threatening illness AND have restricted diets. What the heck.

Regarding the show on Monday....I did watch and don't care to argue why I did....but

The backpacks that Kate "paid for" with her "own checkbook" at the end were (I believe) the shelf-stable food that is sent home with low income kids at the end of each week. The Gosselins also helped pack these backpacks during the episode - it was stuff like canned goods, mac & cheese, juice, etc. She allegedly paid for 8 backpacks at $90 something each to support 8 kids. It seems hard to believe that one backpack with food once a week during the school year would total only $95-ish, but it's possible that much of the food is donated and/or purchased wholesale.

The most disgusting thing about the episode to me was that when Kate was on the radio talking about the food drive they were going to do, that when the DJ said "oh, you should come back in a few weeks to see the races at Bristol" and she said "oh, my DREAM is to drive a NAASCAR!" And then of course, low and behold, a guy and a car show up at the last food-event they did and took them to the racetrack so she could drive the car. When they got there, she revealed that she knew absolutely. nothing. about. car. racing. and really didn't care about it at all - just wanted to "drive a fast car."

Re: Nursing homes... "and they love little kids!"

$$$$$$$$$$$$

This is a TERRIBLE idea! In my parent's nursing home, the residents loved their OWN grandchildren visiting, but HATED OTHER FAMILIES' child visitors.

Family and/or visiting groups of children made navigating the halls difficult for residents in walkers, and the noise from undisciplined, or simply normally loud children were very distressing and annoying to the residents.

This runs contrary to what everyone wants to believe about the elderly, but I'm afraid I've seen it a lot. The Gosselin children, and their screechy, self-centered mother do NOT belong anywhere near a nursing home.

Robin said...

" It does NOT take all of August to prepare kids to go back to school."

Oh, but it does when you have EIGHT kids!!! ::rolling my eyes::

I'm trying to think how long it takes to get my four kids (ages 8-19) ready to go back to school. Including registering for college classes, high school schedule pickup/form filling-out/fee paying/etc., middle school schedule pickup/form-filling-out/fee paying/etc., visit the elementary school classrom, clothes shopping, supply shopping....maybe 2 days TOTAL if I added up all of the time. And that's probably being generous. If they were all in elementary school, I could easily cut that to several hours. So really....get over yourself, Kate. Either ignore the tweeter's/stalker's unreasonable request to have lunch with you, or....well, I guess that is the only "normal" response that "real" celebrities would have. But no, you have to take the opportunity to LIE and show what a hard, hard, hard life you have, getting eight, count 'em EIGHT, children ready for school in the fall.

She is such a dumb bitch with diarrhea of the mouth. We've have 2 batches of house sparrows so far this year and we try to do a vigilant nest watch when we see the babies all feathered up and ready to fly the coop, so to speak. Our dogs get restricted from the bird area until we see no signs of the fledges.

Pulling the "poor single mom of 8" card for excuses again!

Kate isn't going to spend another dime to travel in support for a charity or fundraiser unless more than a couple hundred or so people are guaranteed to show up. OR, the organizers for the event pay for her travel expenses, etc.

I totally saw this coming, after the poor turn-out for the TN event. Kate probably expected many of her 17,000+ followers to show up, which is why she was carrying a couple of large boxes from Staples of her "art project", i.e. head shots for autographs. After spending her "own" money and having about 100 people show up, Kate isn't going to do something like that again unless it's a success FOR HER.

I agree with the person above saying she doesn't have to travel to support other charities or local fundraisers. Just tweeting about it and asking others to retweet her message is doing something.

Message to Kate: You need to stop with the BS excuses and be upfront with your twits, especially those trying to have lunch/meet with you. Otherwise, you'll be hounded with more requests. Something along the lines: "I would love to meet you all, but please wait till my next public event. Hope you understand."

You're right in that the G kids probably are not disciplined enough, nor confident enough to interact one-on-one without direction from their mother, plus there are a lot of them. I do think it would be a good experience for the twins though.

The reason (for me) for not lightening up about the dialysis/baked goods thing is that there are SOOO many opportunities to help others in this world; why on earth did they (either Kate or TLC or whoever) choose this, of all things? Especially with Kate's nursing background - it seems to me that she could have come up with a FAR better "giving back" thing for the kids to do if they insisted on it being something in the medical community. It's just another example of insensitivity on Kate's behalf and downright stupidity on "The Learning Channel"'s behalf. I could see taking the children to a dialysis center (after making sure it was ok and would be well-received, of course) and letting them meet the patients who were interested, play cards with them, talk, sing, what have you - to ease the boredom part of undergoing dialysis. And maybe they did that too, and the baked goods thing is just a small portion of the whole thing. One can only hope.

When I was 10 and my sister was 7, we were home alone one summer because my mom had to work. We decided to bake a cake to surprise her. Did NOT wait to put the frosting on it, so the frosting all melted into the hot cake. THEN we decided to try to remove it from the pans.

I am 54 years old and I recall being upset because it wasnt a very nice presentation. I also recall my mother happily eating it, and bragging to my dad about what Sis and I had made for the family. She also proudly fed some to our baby brother (who went to a sitter during the day.)

Call

Tel: (610) 478-6500

Volunteer to spend 2 hours a week, every single week, cleaning the kitchen and doing a load of laundry for a housebound frail senior citizen. You are very good at scrubbing kitchens.

Take 1 or 2 children with you, and leave the others with their father or the "I'll never have a Nanny" babysitter.

This will cost you nothing but a bit of gasoline, or more if you choose to hire a limo to take you. It will cost you nothing but 2 or 3 hours a week of good Christian charity.

I dare you.

I double dare you.

PJ's Momma, my parent's nursing home also had a program with a nearby, associated private school that brought students regularly. In spite of the fact that there was a school director with the students, it was hard to engage the middle school and high school kids for a variety of reasons, including lack of interest on the part of the residents.

My parent's nursing home was a combined assisted living/nursing home situation. Organized events worked much better when they involved the residents alone. The residents did not appreciate being someone else's social work project.

However, they did love visits from trained dogs (the home only allowed registered companion dogs - and the residents' own family pets, of course - to visit). The trained dogs were well-behaved, posed to threat (imagined or real) to anyone, and were always a real hit.

First off, my mother was on dialysis the last 3 years of her life, I was her part-time care giver. Dialysis patients are on very strict diets, they cannot just eat anything. They are weight when they come in and after treatment. Because there is blood, and I don't know what rules, this dialysis clinic has, but the ones I have gone to, did not allow many other people in there and/or restricted children, unless they were patients, because of the chemicals they use to clean machines, the possible contact with blood, infection they might bring to patients getting treatment, and of course children are curious and those that don't listen. A D-patient has for the most part, has to lay in the chair for about 3 hours, can't move, not suppose to drink anything or eat anything. Their diets are mild to strict, cause of potassium levels in foods and other chemicals, and water amounts in foods. It all has to be accounted for. Since , Kate did work in a dialysis center/clinic, she should know what they can have or not have, and know if they allow children in there. Even in the hospital dialysis clinic, I was not allowed to sit with my mom during treatment. If it is a stand along clinic, they limit the people in the room, they also have and infectious part for patients with certain diseases. This is not a place for children. Most of these patients are not in the best of moods either, they are drained of energy and are not hungry and emergences do occur, cause patients blood press dropped the machines alarm goes off. Kate/TLC could have picked, like the Police station, Fire station, even Soldiers at a base, or as one said here Ronald McDonald house, to bring treats to the workers or guest there. There are so many other places they could have picked, that would not be dangerous to children.

Can I give you an example of wonderful service? Before Christmas, our food bank was closed but we were there doing paperwork for the children's gift program. Someone came in with a baggie of money. She had made bird feeders out of pine cones and sold them to raise money so kids could have Christmas gifts. She was NINE. NINE years old, she thought of this all on her own. She was embarrassed that we made a fuss, but her dad was so proud and we took her in the back and took her picture with all the racks of food, and let me tell you, there was not a dry eye in the house when she left. It was a beautiful moment. Conversely, there was a wealthy woman who had a school supplies drive for her 40th birthday party, complete with red carpet and photographers paid for by her and it landed on the front page of our local paper. These very comfortable or rich ladies each averaged about $12 to be part of this event - the party cost way more than what they brought. That was so sad to me. True service is selfless and has absolutely no motive attached.

Just a small semantic quibble: any pet dog can be called a companion. With respect, I think you mean Therapy Dogs. My two trained, certified, and insured Therapy Dogs visit Assisted Living Residences and Nursing Facilities regularly and are much loved. They are possibly appreciated more than a gaggle of undisciplined kids, but well-behaved children also get a very warm welcome.

On Kate, who is really boring these days -- well at least the ratings are going down steadily. Perhaps the kids will be free from work soon and able to enjoy what is left of their childhoods.

IIRC, Kate last worked as a nurse in a dialysis unit....so maybe it's the same one she worked in and wants to go back and visit the staff, etc.(?)

Also, I don't imagine they would let her be in the dialysis room for very long if she takes all 8 children with her. There's even a chance that they might not let the children in there. They hardly let anyone in there....probably to avoid contagion (there is a separate room, next to the waiting room, where they do the actual dialysis).

I would not even consider Leggos to be something that "makes a mess". You just gather them up and toss them back into the container. My idea of making a mess when my sons were little was finger painting....and usually play-doh....especially having to pick out all the hardened pieces so you can put only the remaining soft play-doh back into the cans.

Oh, and as far as going to lunch with those particular 2 followers on twitter....I would imagine that a reasonable explanation would be that then everyone would start asking her to do that for them.
I would think it was perfectly fine if she only chooses to donate to certain charities. We pick 10 we have researched (that spend the biggest percentage on the charity rather than the money-raising/salaries, etc.).....and then, of course, to the Red Cross for disasters.

But don't cry poor for crying out loud. That is totally ridiculous. You make and have more $ than most people and 8 children is not an unusual huge amount....there are plenty of large families...heck, we had 7 kids in ours when I was growing up and we managed just fine.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Does Kate realize how irresponsible she sounds when she tells people she cannot afford this or that? She has been working these kids six years and still can't get by? She still can't even manage to scrape together enough for gymnastics?

She claims that she can't be a nurse because she can't afford to raise a family on that. Therefore, you would think she is implying she is making better money than a nurse. No? And if she is making better money than a nurse, then you would think by now, with working six straight years (and as someone else pointed out, EIGHT EXTRA INCOMES!) she would be set by now. The fact that she keeps claiming she is not is just plain stupidity on her part.

When Kate says she can't afford things, she is her own proof why parents absolutely cannot be trusted to manage their children's money. Nine times out of ten they piss it all away, just like Kate seems to have done.

Most celebs would KILL to have steady work for six years. It is actually a rare celeb who is able to work like that so constantly like Kate has. And yet so many of them manage to maintain their wealth through all the ups and downs. Meanwhile here's Kate waa-waaing about her finances.

She is a total financial idiot at best and she steals money from her kids. Stick some Suzy Ormond on her ass.

....Because there is blood, and I don't know what rules, this dialysis clinic has, but the ones I have gone to, did not allow many other people in there and/or restricted children, unless they were patients, because of the chemicals they use to clean machines, the possible contact with blood, infection they might bring to patients getting treatment, and of course children are curious and those that don't listen. Most of these patients are not in the best of moods either, they are drained of energy and are not hungry and emergences do occur, cause patients blood press dropped the machines alarm goes off....

----------------------------------------------

Totally agree with you. I work in a large hospital and the inpatient dialysis center is the second least place I like to visit. As an employee, I even get weird looks from the staff when I have to go in there. Like you said, patients are often moody and very lethargic, if they aren't asleep. Visitors are not allowed at all, they wait outside in the lobby. The whole area is very sterile. Granted this is an inpatient center, but some of the patients are in serious shape and occasionally "code" while getting treatment. This isn't the place for young kids to be, even on their best behavior.

Silimom, I may just be cynical, but perhaps Khate may be trying to schmooze with the staff at the dialysis center, in case she needs to start nursing again. I wonder if it's the same one she worked at before. It's obvious Khate doesn't enjoy being a nurse at all, and working in an outpatient dialysis clinic doesn't seem nearly as intense as working in a hospital. I can only guess what her duties would be, but the patients already have ports/lines for the treatment, so it would be a matter of her hooking up the lines, checking vital signs, then taking everything down when the patient is done. Not nearly as intense as some nursing duties, ie. changing wound dressings (can be gruesome and is often painful for the patient), putting a NG tube through a patient's nose, or holding down a screaming child so a procedure can be done. I can't see Khate doing that.

Tamara, you mentioned Ashley being graduated from college and her status with TLC. I agree that she is probably an official employee and is being paid. She could be anything from a nanny to a guardian on set, but she has to be getting paid.

While it was great that Kate finally used the family money to get something for the kids, there are better things than a $4,000 slide. Using that money to put them in extracurricular activities such as gymnastics would give them more life experiences and skills than material things they'll eventually get bored of.

Again, it's easy FOR HER to just have the kids hop into the backyard and entertain themselves in the pool than driving them around to the gym, etc.

However, it would be so much more beneficial for the kids to interact with peers in their community and advance their interests.

As for the dialysis center, I vaguely remember some media interviewing people from the center Kate worked at. If anyone finds it, I'd appreciate if they could post it. Thanks.

Kate Gosselin’s former co-workers and patient reveal a different side of the TLC reality star

Author: ChicMother

We admit to being over the Gosselin mess and vow that this will be our last post about the TLC family for a little bit.

Kate Gosselin’s former co-workers at a dialysis center paint a not so pretty picture of the reality star. Apparently, her patients weren’t too crazy about her either. Check out the video clip below. Yikes!

I wonder if this is the dialysis center that will appear on the episode next Monday.

You know what is really pathetic? This so called "mother" of eight children actually spends less money on her kids (even for all 8) than the average middle class family with two to four kids. Think about it - we all pay for sports activities, music lessons, whatever our kids are into. Many families have yearly memberships to local museums, science centers, etc. Then there's movies, entertainment, day trips for fun family activities. Add in a family vacation once or twice a year, or even just a weekend or two away, all to take our kids to fun places and spend some quality time together. Khate does NONE of that "on (her) my dime"! It doesn't appear the kids are enrolled in lessons, sports, or other activities of interest to them.

Any and all trips are arranged and paid for by TLC and have been for years. Think about all the times TLC has provided activities and toys all for a show. Beach toys, pool toys, all used in EPISODES, so freebies. Easter eggs for an Easter hunt, decorations, etc., all provided for free. Heck, she didn't even have to buy Halloween costumes, pumpkins, decorations, etc. because it was all FILMED. I didn’t even watch the show years ago, (and I don’t now) but I’m sure if they filmed Christmas episodes I’m sure TLC paid for the tree, the presents, whatever. And hey, Khate doesn’t even have to buy birthday presents and Christmas presents for all her relatives because they have been cut out of her life. I just shipped a high school graduation gift across country to my nephew today, and a birthday gift to my niece. The gift plus priority mail fees add up. All the family gifts all year, plus birthday gifts for parties the kids get invited to really can add up.

Plus, they FILM the back to school shopping for clothes, supplies, book bags, lunch boxes, shoes, etc. That all gets paid for by the show. And don’t forget the freebie clothes and whatever else gets sent to them. WE all provide that stuff for our kids, because that’s what we are supposed to do, as their parents! I have to ask what the heck does she actually buy for her own kids???

So, as far as I am concerned, even with eight kids, Khate has a TON more disposable income than most of us. Granted, she got in way over her head with that house, and bought it at the worst time as far as the value being high and then crashing. I’m sure she also was not prepared at all for the enormous overhead and upkeep on that house either, but, hey that’s her problem (“mine, all mine”….well, it’s hers, all hers). I’m convinced that when the show is over if she truly can’t hang onto that house any longer or doesn’t want to keep it, she’ll dump it in a short sale. Given the way she thinks, she probably thinks it’s not fair that she should be stuck with the negative equity, (despite the millions she made over the years spent there), kind of like how she felt the taxpayers owed her help when they kids were babies because modern medicine allowed their birth in the first place.

I also remember that, AND I remember her coworkers didn't have the nicest things to say about her. Their comments, if I remember right, were carefully worded and basically said she was not real easy to work with. I read between the lines.

The dialysis center they filmed at is indeed the same one Kate used to work at. She couldn't go back to the hospital in Reading for a visit because her former co-workers there still can't stomach her. (according to my friend who still works there)

This 'episode' is the weekend she was talking about when she was interviewed by Matt Lauer earlier this year that she said they had 'the best weekend, most fun' (can't remember the exact quote)ever.

Ever notice how every 'event' she does is always the best weekend ever: Her b'day in NYC w/ Jamie, the helping out food bank, the hodgepodge dinner. Her life is just one continuous high.

Short sale........

You bring up a good point, but I have a question about that:

Will the bank just let her walk away with a short sale if she has bucks in the bank?

I would think not. I'd think they'd sue if they had to in order to recoup the money if they knew she cash stashed somewhere. And they can easily do a credit check on her to find the hidden dough.

Lawyers or realtors on this list - would the bank let her walk away without paying off the loan?!

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Exactly my "sediments." I grew up in what is undoubtedly a very blue collar East Coast town. There is nothing to be ashamed of about how I grew up. People there worked hard and provided a good life for their kids. Like most parents, my parents busted their butts so their kids could have what you are describing, right down to GYMNASTIC LESSONS. We did sports, we did music lessons, we did camps, we did vacations. No we didn't have our own beach house in N.C. but we also went to N.C., and Myrtle Beach on a shoestring.

I never once heard anyone belly ache about money growing up. Not my parents and not anyone else's. If you wanted something for your kids, you worked hard and saved for it and you didn't bellyache about it. It wasn't until I was older and sort of got out there in the real world it became clear to me there were a lot of people out there who had a heck of a lot more money than we ever did.

Sort of like how when little kids hear their dad makes $40,000 a year, they think they are rich.

It's how you raise your kids. You can raise your kids to feel comfortable and fulfilled and to feel like they have what they need and want, or you can raise them to feel like they never have enough and there is always something around the next corner and how tragic that they can't get their $4,000 a week beach house this year because ratings are down.

Not only is Kate setting these kids up for a host of emotional issues, but also, some serious financial ones as well.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Unbridled enthusiasm about everything I think is just overcompensation for how deep down she is actually a very unhappy and unfulfilled person.

She never has enough money, or trips, or shoes, or anything, and probably deep down feels her own shortcomings are why she doesn't have "enough" (even though there will never be ENOUGH) but she has to cover up all that by acting like everything is amazing and awesome.

JealousHater said...

Admin, thanks for saying what so many of us are always thinking. Fans think the kids will be "rich for life" but those of us with cognitive thought know that money will be the least of their issues.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It's just further proof that we simply have a different set of value systems. And it's very hard to come to any kind of middle ground when your value systems are so different. Some people believe money and stuff buys you happiness and it's lunacy to turn it down (as Kate herself would say, why who would say no to a free trip to Australia! Well, Kate, parents who value SCHOOL for their children would). Others don't buy into this, no pun intended. I certainly recognize that a certain amount of money is necessary to be comfortable, but beyond that point, I believe it has very little to do with raising good kids and being happy. I've seen very wealthy people raise great kids, and I've seen very poor people raise great kids. And I've seen both raise bad kids. One has very little to do with the other.

They don't understand how someone could possibly raise happy, well adjusted children on a blue collar salary. Well, many families do, and the shade of blue turned out very pretty.

I'll break it down for Kate. It's simple what kids need at this age. YOU. They need YOU.

fidosmommy said...

Not only does Kate have 9 incomes to pay for her
8 children, she has another income - child support. As I recall, that amount is not peanuts, even for 8 children to share.

How "tuned in" do you all think the twins are? Aren't they nearly 11? Between facebook, twitter, instant and constant communication I halfway expect them to be selling info and photos on their own. Though they both seem to have quite different temperaments and ways of dealing with Kate. Don't assume that just because they are twins they will always have each others six. I've seen twins turn on each other, especially over parents.

Collin covering his face is proof that he knows something is "off" about how his life is.

This kids are not living on a commune, they go to school, they talk to other kids and teachers. They have plenty enough interaction with the outside world for any normal kid this age to realize that their life is different and not in a good way.

As I said, the celebrity kids I know started to become aware something was "different" about their family at age four when they were scared at a media event. Four is pretty much when kids start remembering things seriously anyway. So essentially, they've known almost since the beginning.

Kids are not stupid and it's so irritating when people act like they are. Kate is one of the biggest offenders.

That smells like deliberate intent to defraud the bank of money owed on loan.

That can't be legal.

HA - what am I thinking?! She'll do something like that in a heartbeat because "it's not HER fault the economy is failing, not her fault the housing market tanked"

kart shouldn't have to bring money to the table at a sale.... because she's kart!!!! No never means no to her. She didn't have to pay the therapist bill......ergo, that pesky bank can't expect her to really pay up to the loan value.

This isn't going to end well.

The only, smallest teeny tiny consolation in this whole 7 year debaucle is that I know in my head and heart she's miserable.

My take on her is that she's insecure and afraid of people - many have said purseboy is her buffer, her touchstone to reality. When she can't control all aspects of a situation her anxiety level skyrockets. You can see it plainly during interviews.

She thinks she's the proverbial hot snot but she has no family, no friends, she's extremely insecure and her NPD will shatter her when she no longer has her "career" and her paid team is fired because she won't pay them.

When she doesn't get those paid trips, 5-star hotels, freebies, first class travel and fan adulation (snark) she'll be one unhappy camper.

And she WILL know that folks out there think she is getting what she deserves when her world collapses around her, and that will PISSSSSSSSS her off.

Her tweenie twatters won't be any consolation.

It's so sad for the kids......................

I think TLC recognized in Kate her fervent desire for attention and thus avoided paying her a decent salary by offering up the hotel and limo perks she loves so much. She herself might have leaked that $250,000 an episode rumour just to appear in demand, hoping the industry would toss big money to hire her. The show likely is on its last legs and there isn't anything in the wings to pay the bills. It likely seems like poverty contemplating going back to a normal sized home and a regular paying job with no money for trips or nannies or nail salons.

I so agree with the food drive bit above. It is not healthy feeding people canned and packaged and processed foods. Instead we should be planting community gardens and letting hunters donate meat to food banks.

Saw an article about Nick Lachey and his girlfriend filming their wedding and it airing as a special on TLC. Supposedly the couple are hoping for a reality series. Interesting tidbits from the article:

“Kate Plus 8″ is probably going to be put out to pasture soon so they’ll have a reality show vacancy to fill. I really thought Nick learned his lesson and wasn’t going to go that route again after the trainwreck that was his last marriage, though. After Jessica left him, he told Rolling Stone that being on “Newlyweds” really messed up their relationship. He said “Jessica and I began playing these parts even when we were by ourselves… There was a question about what truly was our reality. When you are on a reality show, your life ceases to be reality. It becomes TV.” I guess when your career isn’t really going anywhere you might not have the choice not to turn your next relationship into a reality show too.

I am doubtful that Nick Lachey will go the reality show route again given what happened with his first marriage, but who knows?

It's a long story about how and why it all happened, but let me tell you we were POOR because I couldn't work and we had tons of expenses to get me legal. BUT we did it quietly and we never told our friends or family how dire things were - except once I borrowed $200 to pay our water bill because we were on disconnect.

Must be an NPD thing. IMO, all those women from the Real Housewives series have NPD....but to varying degrees.
And so does Casey Anthony.
They're all interesting to watch....from a psych perspective. Certainly teaches you plenty about NPD.

Regarding the National Inquirer story....this magazine doesn't just make up stories willy-nilly like one like the Globe does....but their story titles are often misleading. I'm betting what really is happening is that Kate (and TLC?) would like Jon back on the show to get the ratings back up. Someone possibly said something of that nature and it was overheard, etc. I highly doubt she wants him back as a husband and I know for sure that he would not want to go back to her....now that he's tasted freedom.

She has no idea how easy she has had it will all the freebies she has received, and the fact that she doesn't even fund her own holidays, gifts, decorations etc., because she has them all filmed. She shows no appreciation. Her crying poor is an insult! If she is poor, it is because she herself, pissed away the money on surgical procedures, lawyers, clown clothes and shoes. Everything for her, nothing for the kids.

Someone had said earlier, if she really wanted to give back, but can't afford to send money, Then why not give the clothes she got for free to good will, instead of a consignment shop!! That burns me up. She can't make that much money off of the clothes she brings in there, and they could outfit eight other children. She has no brain and no common sense.

Thanks for the information on the short sale mortgage scam. I was watching The Real Housewives of Orange County on their end of year reunion show. One woman brought up another woman's "foreclosure" and that woman said they didn't foreclose, they did a short sale. At that point, another woman stated something to the effect that the couple set up a new company which bought the home and then filed bankruptcy. The look on the housewife's face that short sold her home could have killed. I knew it was probably something unethical but now I understand what was being said. Probably not something you would want your friend to announce on national tv.

As for Kate, why does she always announce on her tweets that she has 8 kids!! Everyone knows she has "8" kids. She tweets things like trying to feed my 8 kids breakfast, have to get my 8 kids ready for church, will be spending August getting my 8 kids ready for school. Give it up Kate....we get it!

Great post as usual!! I don't buy passes to museums & things like that though. I get free passes from the library to the aquarium, museums, etc. FREE! My son & I also hike a lot (when I'm feeling up to it) We bike ride, go on nature hikes, take our dog for walks, & stuff like that. See, Kate equates EVERYTHING with costing money. She can have fun with her children without spending a damn dime. Her kids would enjoy getting out there on their acres & acres of property & just walking around, going on a hike with her (if she can get out of those damn heels) & discovering things without her having to spend anything. But she can't get off her ass to do that kind of thing with them as far as we can tell.

There is more to life to just sitting by the pool. Don't get me wrong, my son & I do that too, but not everyday. We get out & do stuff. It's much better & Kate's kids will feel LESS entitled if Kate said something like "I got some passes from the library for us" or "Let's go on a nature hike in our own backyard". Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

Ah, but Cow. This may be one of her lies by omissions thingy. She didn't say that they weren't going to film - just that she was going to be busy for the whole month, getting the kids ready to go back to school. Her "busy" may very well involve being busy filming school preparations, which, of course is shoe shopping, visits for physicals, backpack shopping, picking out uniforms, hair cuts...

Kate doesn't have a STAFF? What does she consider the yard man, the pool guy, the housekeeper, the cook, and the nanny? To say nothing of her manager, PR person and purseboy? When will this woman stop with the "I'm so poor" BS? The $4k plus that was paid for the pool slide could feed my family of 5 for a year.

She doesnt mean 'staff', she means live-in indentured servant, like Jon. (look it up, sheeple and then actually read it.) Someone she can use and abuse and command, who cant go home at night and can never get away from her, not even for an hour.

The fact that she doesnt recognize all the household help she has as 'staff', means she resents it that they have set hours, quit when she pisses them off too many times, etc.

Whatever. At least she has kept the child-pimping to a minimum this week so far. I am still sad she feels the need to publicly ridicule their little efforts in the kitchen. How again does this make her an 'amazing' mom, sheeple?

Kate is exactly the type of person to take on a mortgage way out of her budget. To spend what she doesn't have. The same kind of people who contributed to the economy collapsing. I completely understand that mortgage lending companies are partly to blame and then each family's circumstances are unique, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do the simple math and figure out what you can afford each month.

At least the law is starting to recognize that some parents are idiots who can't be trusted to manage their kids' money and ruin it for everyone else. That's you, Kate. You're one of those. THANKS!

In Canada we have a lottery, Lotto 649. Years ago, in Nova Scotia, a couple won one million dollars. They basically struck it rich overnight as, prior to their win, didn't have the proverbial pot. Anyway, long story short, within six, SIX, months of winning all that money, they were flat broke. The couple had to move back into subsidized housing as they had squandered every single penny of the (tax free) lottery win. Nouveau riche like Kate. No money sense at all.

Interesting that anonymous brings up Nick Lachey. I read the same article. I used to live in Cincinnati and, although I never met Nick, I worked with his mother on charity events several times. Nick is VERY well known in Cincinnati for his support of local charities and youth events and his love of and support for local sports teams. If he and his new wife do decide to go the reality route again, I think things will be a bit different this time around. For one thing, he'll know what to expect and can guard against most, if not all, of the adverse effects. He's an intelligent person and has a solid family background. His fiancee is no air-headed bimbo and has also been around the business long enough to know what to expect. Not to mention there will be no creepy, controll (deliberate mis-spelling) freak FIL in the picture this time.

If I read the twits above correctly, Kate is saying she's going to the hospital today? Why? It certainly can't be to try to get her old job back (snark, snark). Of course, they could put her to work in the morgue. She couldn't offend any of her patients there.

Re nursing homes/assisted living facilities and young people - my mother was in an assisted living facility for several years before she died. The local high school sent some of their journalism students to interview the residents and to record their "life stories". Mom enjoyed the visit very much and the young woman who interviewed her came back to visit her regularly after that. Most of the other residents appreciated the visits, too. They did have a fairly low tolerance for smaller (noisier, less controlled) kids, though. I doubt that the 6 younger kids would work out well in that sort of situation. They are far too noisy and boisterous. Mady and Cara - especially Cara - would probably do well though.

Kate is what she is, but does anyone, other than her financial advisers, really know what is in that trust for her kids, how much she has socked away, or how much she has blown away? Maybe there's nothing left, but then again, maybe there is a substantial amount. Kate spends, but Kate also hoards... gimme, gimme, gimme. After all, as someone pointed out, she's never had to spend any considerable amount of money on those kids because basically, she grifts for whatever she can get, and volumes of things have been handed to her.

That woman has more than a loose screw,
she is in desparate need of an intervention. If you need motivation to feed your kids there is something either physically or mentally very wrong with you. Some body needs to contact authorities about her, and I am dead serious.

Moose Mania said...

Sharon, you're right about having more than a screw loose. She's missing the nuts and bolts, too. There's nothing holding her securely together. However, I just wonder if the reason she's doing this is to present herself as an exhausted mother, poor me, I have to make breakfast for eight kids, see what I do every day, and it's all a farce.

It's the old tired, frazzled, single mom syndrome, but she's too stupid to realize that everyone knows that she has help and does nothing alone. So you're tired - feed the kids cereal, muffins, juice. The twins should be able to get their own breakfast. She has to pour SIX bowls of cereal. The kids don't need a farmer's breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast and homefries (that sounds so good right now!). If she needs motivation and energy to give them a muffin or cereal, then this woman clearly needs intervention.

I do think, however, while she's playing the poverty card, she's also playing the exhausted single mom one. The more cards the better. The more sympathy it generates.

Then again, maybe the nanny had already given the kids breakfast, and it's just another one of her tall tales. Who knows?

Why would she have said "this is the real Kate" if it has been her twittering all along? OR....did she mean it's the real Kate as opposed to someone hired doing most of the tweeting?

Lottery winners who end up broke usually ended up that way due to bad investments/listening to bad investment advice.
It would take a LOT of mani/pedis, clothes, shoes, etc. to get low on her kind of money...and this is why the crying poverty is disingenuous...because there's no way, even with all her spending, that she doesn't still have a hefty bank account.

That is......unless she's made a lot of bad investments.....however, Kate would not be prone to listening to any investment advice and would think she knew better and should make her own decisions

But it's GOOD investments that allow you to remain a millionaire...rather than broke. Hehe....in case anyone here ever wins the lottery. :D

Kate has tweeted that they've made a nest for the baby bird (MOURNING dove)and posted pictures. Looks like her derby chapeau has been re-purposed!

Moose Mania said...

I was reading the saga of the baby bird that she allegedly rescued and put back into the nest. Good for her. Nothing wrong with that. There's not a spring or summer that goes by that we don't do the same thing. Robins prefer a tree right by the garage, and they either fall out, or the entire nest is blown out by spring winds. Some survive, some don't. I've gone to extreme measures to save a robin from a slow and painful death, and my family's diligence paid off. It was a lesson in biology, nature, survival, and love.

However, I am suspicious of her motives here. This is the same as her "giving back." She has to mention it! WHY! Why must this be made public? You rescue the bird because you believe that it's the right thing to do. You don't announce it to the world, standing by waiting for the praises for being a nature-lover who takes time out from making breakfast for EIGHT kids to care for a fledgling.

Nothing she does is done in private. She toots her own horn, and will continue to do so as long as it can present HER in a favorable light and illicit the tweets of adulation from her tweens and teens.

The fact that she asks TLC to remove the Twitter imposter proves that TLC is monitoring the tweets and/or tweeting also. Why can't SHE report the imposter to Twitter?

TLC is using Twitter to invigorate her sheeple and make it personal between her and her fans. TLC has come to realize that she is distant and not all that social. They can't change her stripes and her twats are proving this.

The Enquirer story was definitely a plant to get the speculation spinning and maybe entice Jon to make an appearance on the show. It is obvious that TLC has bitten off their nose to spite their face-----Jon was the reason the show worked because Kate alone is obnoxious without the counterbalance of easy-going Jon. I used to love his under-the-breath comments regarding her. He would say what we all thought. Somebody at TLC really screwed up when they fired Jon. She doesn't want Jon back because she loves him and misses him; TLC wants Jon back, IMO, for ratings. Hopefully Jon won't fall for the bait.

She acknowledges the ratings were not good, but wants all of her teenage tweeties to tell everyone they know [to watch]. Yes, indeed, that's certainly going to make up for the loss of 500,000 viewers!

"@jman6466 and of course, God placed him on MY property"

MY. Upper case. MY property. Not our property, but MY property. As far as the eye can see.

Then there's the money-saving advice she tweeted to a sheeple:

"kateplusmy8

Things you can live without, like $2,000 hair-cuts, tanning sessions, hooker heels? Make the kids reuse and make stuff, even though they have worked for their money?

And, of course, add this to her bucket list. She's perishing again, begging for a trip to Sweden this time, while throwing in the fact that she was talking to somebody at the Today Show!

I guess the writing is on the wall, but I am so happy to see that she's thinking about camp for the kids. Kate wants to be the camp RN....um...first, let your kids have time away, on their own (the twins) and second, what, does she think she'll be the nurse for a week and leave?
Ah, who am I kidding. None of this will materialize. The time to schedule camp, any good one, is waaaaay before now.

re: Moose Mania
You're right, there are many very easy things that "Kate, Mother of Eight" could have on hand for easy breakfasts--cereal, yogurt and fruit, etc. that the kids could even do themselves (or with Maddy and Cara helping the younger 6). She just has to make everything seem so hard--also, I think she's a control freak concerning food (as well as everything else, lol) and needs to control what each child gets, portion control, etc.
Though I'm not recommending it, I was cooking from the time I was 9 or 10--with mom nearby, of course. Making something like scrambled eggs or egg whites (use the cartoned ones for ease) is easy--and there's little extra effort if making for 2 or 10. Same thing with pancakes--make up a big batch of batter and use a large griddle (or have two going at once)--keep the ones already made warm in a low oven. No big deal--or make a frittata or a couple of extra large omeletes--slice and serve (that's how the French do--no indiv. ones).

Yet more examples of just how lazy Kate is. She is asking tweeters to find her week long summer camps. Not only for her 8 kids, but also one that needs a camp nurse! Has she put any effort into this at all?? I am sure that if she looked into it, she could have had some very interesting camps lined up for her kids, but nooooooo, she was waiting for TLC to bankroll her summer vacations. Since they are not, the kids will do nothing, because Kate is struggling, just trying to get by.

She doesn't even know where these tweeters are from. How are they supposed to recommend camps. Poor Tweeters, they are so devoted, they will spend their entire afternoon looking for camps for Kate's kids.

Around where I live, the popular camps that all the kids want to go to, fill up in March and April. Camps cost money too. Is she looking for freebies since the space camp fell through. Those kids won't see the outside of that property all summer. They have a cheap, selfish, grifter for a mother. Very Sad!

I can't stand her crying poor on twitter. The best example against her is the Masche's. They had sextuplets and had a reality show and got divorced. They had already filmed a new seasona and the network wanted to air the divorce but the Masches refused. Jenny and Bryan moved into thier parents basements which are about a 3 hour ride apart. Jenny went back to work at the hospital as a PA. Bryan does financial planning. They share custody and have family support.

Kate has no excuses (except she pushed away her family) The Masche's only made 160k total off their show so they do not have Kate type money and they went back to normal lives. Jenny is able to work in the ER just fine Kate! They are able be civil about custody. I follow Bryan facebook page and when he has the kids and posts pictures Jenny makes cute comments about the kids and thanks him for taking them places and vice versa. Divorce with sextuplets and going back to work can happen Kate. Jenny does not cry poor or beg for help or freebies.

Hi MooseMania.:) I had initially thought of that but then thought well, that last time it was the real Kate complaining about a fake Kate....but this time it's the real Kate complaining about a totally different follower who is not trying to pretend he/she is Kate.
And that since there have not been any fake Kates for a long time....everyone would assume that Kate IS the real Kate....no matter what she tweets.
Not that I would fault her....apparently many celebrities hire someone to handle twitter and to tweet for them. I'm just so highly suspicious that most of Kate's tweets are not the real Kate.

There was something I forgot to mention in my last post.....and that was that I have always thought it's really strange of Kate to not be raving up and down about her children. I did it when my sons were young and still do it to this day...even though they are grown and married.
Things like.....school awards, being on a winning sports team, making All-Stars, playing an instrument....all the way to job promotions, etc.
And all the moms I know do the same thing...we love to brag about our children and especially their accomplishments....and I don't know if I've ever heard Kate do that. I mean, with 8 children, there has got to be a few who have had some accomplishments...I would think.

But she will congratulate some of the tween followers on twitter when they tell her their accomplishments.....one of the big reasons why I think it's not the real Kate.

Hey, Kate, why didn't you go to the summer camp fair at school the first week of February? It's held in the field house every year. You could have gotten volumes of information about camp, watched videos, talked to the camp representatives. If you were recuperating from your trip at that time, perhaps someone could have gone in your place?

Summer camp registrations are made well in advance, long before school lets out for the summer. It might be too late for this year, but I'd tell her to try Strawderman in Virginia, where so many girls from here go. It's a horseback riding camp and they offer lessons - the girls would absolutely love it, but she'll need to check out the prices for two weeks of camp. It's a bit salty.

For both boys and girls, look into the Susquehannock camps at the NY/PA state line...the best in summer fun, always.

Kate at a nurse at either one of these camps? Um, not so much!

E-town Neighbor said...

Sorry, Cow...I was typing while you were posting and we basically said the same thing. Camps do indeed fill up and it may be too late for this summer, but, well, I'm sure she would have someone who could pull a few strings for her!

There are also great camps in the Poconos, but she'd need a recommendation from someone who has experience with the camp. Tweeties just can't go searching through the hundreds of random camps listed online! What kind of security would camps be able to provide, and so forth? Those kids would love summer camp, at least a stay of two weeks. Wouldn't the churches in her area run some kind of summer camp? Many of them do. Of course, the kids aren't in Scouts, so that's not an option.

Aeris said...

It sounds too late for her to sign the kids up for away-from-home-camp. The kids could definitely use a few days at a day camp, though, where they can have fun with other kids and work on their social skills. Of course, they would be mingling with non-private school kids, so it probably won't happen. I think Khate projects her fear of people and social situations onto her kids. And really, Khate, find your own camp!!

I really hope the tups can fix their own cereal by now. All the kids are old enough to help with a lot of things now. I'm trying to remember that old J&K ep. "Mommy for a Day" that had the twins playing Mom to the tups for one day...and were totally set up for failure. I remember it was in the E-Town House, so the twins were probably seven years old. So we saw Cara and Mady playing Mom for the tups at age seven, cooking and all, and the now-seven-year old tups are still sitting in high chairs. I hope Khate is teaching her kids, but that comes with spending time with them, so who really knows.

Camp Conrad Weiser, in her own backyard, a South Mountain YMCA co-ed camp, might be an option, and their Byndon Wood offers a day camp. I've heard mixed reviews - they either love it or they hate it. My kids tried the resident camps there one summer, but returned to their "regular" camps the following year. She's going to have to be really careful about security. Would Steve spend the day shooting bows and arrows with the boys and sleeping in their cabin with them? I'm not sure that a day camp in their area could provide what they would need in a camp.

And does she think all the touching the bird, the nest, building a new nest, etc. is helping the bird? Too bad she doesn't try to take as good care of her brood as she does the bird.

What a pig she is...

If she lived a normal existence and TRULY put her kids first she would know of nearby camps to attend. If she had friends, and did normal shit, she would hear of where those kids went for summer camp. If those child prisoners had a damn life, did gymnastics, sports, anything outside of her rat claws they would be exposed to and be aware of things like this like the rest of us.

But leave it to kHate to already ruin the best part of camp - being away from HER. Her NPD dictates she has to dream about also being there with them. Can you imagine how much fun those kids would have with a week away from her, the cameras, and their so called lives? Wow. They could each be individuals, makes friends with whomever they were drawn towards, whatever interested them individually.

One of the neat aspects of camp is being on your 'own', away from parental influence. Without us reminding them what they like to eat, when to be careful and influencing them in ways we dont even realize because we love and worry about them.

My 10 yr old daughter goes away in 2 weeks, this fantastic camp in the mountains around Monterey, CA. Sleeping under the stars. Meeting friends they only see once a year at camp who live in other parts of California. Canoeing. Hiking. Crafts. Eating. Singing. Giggling.

Maybe there is a single dad camp somewhere like this that I can attend? I will have to ask TLC.

Just like she would love to visit some New England states but, alas, no opportunities have emerged.

Of course there is that dilemma of she having to take courses, get certification in CPR and those pesky nursy things but I am sure some company would hire her just for the freak appeal.

Then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, because I have seen strings pulled quite a few times and have watched them being pulled. It depends on who you know. It's not a matter of her walking up to the camp and saying, "Don't you know who I am," but rather knowing someone who knows someone else, who knows the director, etc. etc.

However, and this is a big however, does Kate pull any weight when it comes to pulling and strings at all, or is she history when it comes to making things work for her when she has been told "no?" Remember when she said, "No never means no?"

Those kids really need to go to camp. It would do them a world of good.

Is this PA talk or Kate speak, this "perishing to visit"? I've heard it as "I'm perished of thirst", meaning thirsty, or if something/someone died but never in that context.

---------------

It's not PA talk. I have never heard anyone use this. The closest we come here is "I'm dying to visit..."
Maybe it's LA talk!

When I read this tweet, my first thought was Kate was pitching another idea for her show. She's hoping that some local summer camp will hear of her tweet and want to promote their camp on tv (in exchange for free admission, expenses, etc. for all nine Gosselins).

Why does she also need to attend summer camp with the kids? That's the purpose of summer camp, learning to be independent from your parents.

Suddenly, she wants to be a camp nurse when she probably doesn't even help as a school nurse at her kids' school.

This is Kate asking for free opportunities for HERSELF AND HER SHOW, not because she wants to provide fun activities for her kids.

She spent $4,000 on a slide for her pool. I see her as someone making sure she gets her money's worth, not just letting it sit there as decoration. It's no wonder she kept tweeting about those kids in the pool.

Caught this in a comment section on a the "Wiggy" blog. They posted all receipts to prove what giving and generous soles they are (unless you don't love Kate).

If it were not for Kate…I would have never known about this need, although we have contributed to local food drives.

FiredUp4Kate really needs to pick up a newspaper once in a while or open her freaking eyes in her own town.

Right. She would let the seasick passengers lie in their own vomit. Her history of being compassionate with ill passengers is not impressive. She'd also have to put away those stilettos!

Speaking of which, I once dated a cruise ship physician. I used to tease him about having a cushy job - nights under the stars, traveling to exotic places. When there was a massive storm at sea that lasted five days, passengers were crammed like sardines in line to see the doc, holding their up-chuck bags until the bags were overflowing, I never teased him again. He had his hands full on that trip...literally. Yuck!

Ha ha.

Nope, never heard it used like that in LA or in the OC. Just wondered if it was some city slang, like Boston's 'wicked'.

Guess it's just Kate, attempting to be more eloquent than she is.

This is just greedy khate trying to find more ideas for her dumb boring show...

Maybe she thinks that saying "perishing to go/do..." instead of "dying to go/do...." makes her sound smarter than she is. Sort of like the line in West Side Story when the one girl said "I and Velma ain't stupid"...wile trying to make herself sound smarter made she just made herself sound dumber. Kate sounds like she's looking words up in a theosaursaurs and then using those words to sound smarter (after all, we've all said how dumb she normally sounds) I've never heard anyone say perishing of thirst either like the poster above said. I've heard people say "I'm parched or I'm feeling parched" instead of saying "I'm thirsty" though. Kate, trying to use a dollar word when a dime word will do doesn't make you sound smarter, it just makes you sound like the girl from West Side Story.

My final thought on this is that she's trying to appeal to the Christian folks again. I've heard it various ways in different translations - Matthew 8:25 the Deciples say "Save us Lord, we are perishing" (substitute dying, drowning in whatever translation you're looking at). I just throw this out there because she has just now started to use this phrase as her popularity is going down and we've speculated as to whether or not she's going to try the Christian circuit again. Maybe she thinks this is "Christian speak". Please don't anyone take offense - I am a PK and I'm not bashing anyone.

I still don't get why Kate cries poor. Whining that she's exhausted and over-worked I get. But I thought she wants everyone to think she's a huge stah and is just sooo wealthy and elite. I've heard of people faking being rich, or trying to keep up the appearance by spending only on what others see and perceive as rich, but never crying poor at the same time.

It is also a bit odd that she doesn't ever brag about her kids. Then again, she's NEVER seemed to know anything about her children beyond their physical looks and their TV created character. Hannah is supposedly the leader, Aaden is "the professor" just because he wears specs, etc. The way they used to describe/introduce the kids in the show's intro was always strange too. Calling Joel sneaky I think? Weird. Their mini bios on the TLC site also only described physical traits.

Okay, rambling over lol.

I think the "perishing" to go to Nebraska or wherever....is someone writing the tweet who doesn't speak English as a first language.

It makes no sense in any other context that I can think of.

A non-English speaker would probably be thinking of the saying "I'm dying to go...." and didn't get it right.

As for letting her kids go to camp "alone", she'd lose the control.

She'd be unable to get all camp staff and kids and parents to sign confidentialty forms.

Someone would be sure to take photos and leak them to the media, or blog about what the kids did. kart would chit a brick if SOMEONE ELSE besides her "invaded the kids' privacy".

And as for security, I think it's extremely conceited to think only her kids need security -what? like the other kids at the camp don't need protection too? Her kid$ are special?

Nah, she's not going to take a chance of letting anyone else get the kids. She has shown a definite history of keeping them ISOLATED. She owns them, after all.

On the camp nurse note, I was a camp nurse at a girl scout camp one summer. IT WAS HARD WORK! I was hired rather casually "oh, it's not that bad... poison ivy, skeeter bites, that kind of thing".

Well! In 7 weeks I sent 10 kids to the ER - 3 broken bones, 2 appendicitis, 2 scratched corneas (bloody eyeball types - ick), 1 knee injury needing surgery, 1 severely constipated and 1 persistant vomiting.

I was really surprised at the number of kids needing to see a doc. And on top of that, there were all the bad bug bites, the asthma attacks, the homesickness, the regular vomiting, burned fingers, cut fingers, the menstrual cramps... and yes, two girls started their periods while at 7 week sleepaway camp without understanding what was happening to them (both 10 y/o).

I have other stories but I'm sure you get the drift. I'm pretty sure kart would hate it. Especially if she had to shower outdoors every other day and sleep in RUSTIC cabins on thin bunk mattresses.

WE had fun but it sure wouldn't be kart's cuppa tea. Just sayin'.......... LOL

Besides, where would purseboy sleep?

The last day of school before summer vacay. It was the best day of the year. Riding on the bus, streamers hanging out the windows, making plans for summer with friends. Playing at friends' houses, then over to your house, mother calling out the door, Dinner! My heart aches that these kids will never know that feeling of friends, fun and sometimes, just doing nothing. Granted with 8, count 'em 8, kids it might not be so easy and times have certainly changed, it is very sad that the kids will only have summer memories of having to work or swim in that stupid pool and hang out with a mother who is too busy or too tired to try to do something fun or different with them.

Have I said lately I love this site? Thank you Admin!

Why can't the kids go to VBS - Vacation Bible School? I live in a small town and virtually every church has a sign out, announcing when theirs is. And it's usually 4-5 days and they're gone all day and go home at night, for a very nominal fee or even for free. These camps are geared for kids in church as well as 'seekers.' They may not be fancy, but the kids love them. At the end of the week, many of them do their own little Bible story show. Ours did theirs at church on Sunday. They even had commercials (on the screen) for manna helper! Hilarious! And to see Jonah being tossed out of the whale with goop all over him was absolutely priceless too.

How does this woman have time to tweet all the time? She tweets first thing in the morning and I have 5 and I am busy making breakfast, getting ready for the day. Then she tweets around the dinner hour, bedtime, etc. I don't believe for a minute that she is doing all the tweeting regardless of what she says. She just needs to go away!

To Kate's fans, the apparent saving of the bird has reached Biblical proportions! I'm waiting for a fan to suggest nominating her for sainthood. Move over Mother Teresa!

I just checked into my church's vacation Bible school out of curiosity (after making my last post). It's $25 per child and they are gone all day from Monday through Friday, and they get a t-shirt and there's a big family party on Friday night, presumably including a little performance that incorporates some of what they learned during the week. $200 is one of Kate's pair of shoes. Churches all over this great land of ours do this in summertime. Kids adore it. Come on now, Kate, THINK. It doesn't have to be fancy and it doesn't have to be filmed and the kids would have a blast.

Ok, just notice that the last time K8 rating tanked, the goofy media,, started the crap of Kate wanting Jon back. So now the ratings tanked again, articles of Kate wanting Jon back. Is this a TLC/Kate/PR thing. Jon has moved on KATE!Get over him. Media: Jon has moved on!
This whole talk of sending the kids to camp, would be nice, except for Jon, cause if they are gone 2wks, 4wks or 8wks, Jon will miss out on his visits, and knowing how Kate is, she probably would not re-arrange the visits, either. She got away with it, with the Aussie trip and other times. And her wanting to be a nurse at any camp, won't happen. 1, cause she has not been a practicing nurse, for years, 2. they would only hire people they knew, not some fly-by-night-wannabe-celeb, who is doing it for , possible TV show(K8) or self attention. They have a staff put together, months before camp even starts. Kate is know for her hissy-fits and stomping off, we have seen first hand accounts, of how she treats, her own kids, as a parent and medical. I certainly would not want Kate near or treating my kids(if I had some)or my dogs.

We got my son registered for camp in March, & scrimped & saved. We also pitched in extra so he could go do the horseback riding. He is super excited & I'm excited for him! This is an experience I never got to enjoy when I was a kid, so I hope he gets to make life-long memories.

Admin, you hit the nail on the head when you said that Kate was waiting for her filming & travel schedule & really didn't get one & now the kids have to suffer. That's too bad that *they* have to endure a summer of just hanging out with Kate, doing some filming around PA or something & "hanging by the pool" because Kate couldn't, or wouldn't, give them a few weeks off to be kids & have the summer experience. Where's Jon though in all this? I'm on his side, but couldn't of he stepped in & asked the judge for this? Unless he did, then shut me up. If he did then that judge is an ass & the court system is backwards & upside down in PA.

Kate add the convenient caveat though, that she wants a camp where SHE can be the camp nurse because she doesn't want her kids to be gone from her!

It's fine if she leaves them, she has no problem with that, but she tells her gullible fans that she'd miss her kids soooo much that she needs to be the camp nurse so she can be close. And, of course, that makes it very difficult to find a camp that will take them all plus Kate.

No gymnastics, no camp.

Regarding the "crying poor", my narcissist mother is the queen of that. My parents aren't filthy rich or anything, but my dad is an upper middle class professional and makes plenty of money. Mom drives her much less financially stable sisters nuts by constantly complaining that she "can't afford" some trinket when she and my dad just got back from vacationing in Paris or Rome. I would guess that crying poor is Mom's second favorite complaint after being sooooo busy. When the sisters would go in on a gift for Grandpa or Grandma, my mom would always insist each of them pay EXACTLY EQUALLY even though $20 was nothing to her but a huge amount to my aunt who was a single mother working for minimum wage. Mom's attitude was that her younger sister shouldn't have messed up her life. It wasn't Mom's problem- she was helping teach her little sis a lesson about how superior she was for marrying a stable man.

I saw that show, too, on Oprah, "Tucker's Mom" when Octomom got slapped around by Suze and Oprah. Could hardly believe it when they told Nadya to put her kids on a reality show. They all are about money and more money. Nadya appeared to believe that it was her responsibility to support her own kids, not their responsibility to pay their own way through using a tv show. Guess they would love Kate's prosperity. Heck with the kids' futures. The whole premise is messed up.

I've come to the conclusion that since I never ever have a nice thing to say about Kate, I'm leaving the blog for good. Wish all of you the very, very best. Admin, you are doing an excellent job, but I just feel too upset about the subject of the Gosselins to contribute anymore.

If Kate were to volunteer her time as a camp nurse, would her children get a hefty discount?

I live near a really good private college. The children of all faculty get a tuition-free
education (but must pay room, board, lab fees, books, etc.)

Could Kate be hoping for that kind of deal?

That kind of defeats the entire purpose of them going to camp, which is to GET AWAY FROM HER and be with other kids. Other campers' parents aren't there with them. Why should she be?
