Recap: Kate Plus Eight "College Bound": The lost episode!

Yes folks, it's a true lost Gosselin episode. What a world. And what a bizarre unfolding of events. College Bound aired October 1 and included the twins and four of the sextuplets. Shortly thereafter, Jon gave an interview saying that he never gave his authorization for the children to film (all of whom were still minors during at least some of the filming) and in fact a judge agreed with him. Jon produced some court orders from 2018 in which a judge ruled that the children cannot film. Documents from the PA Department of Labor showing the request for permits for the children was denied were also released. Because this is so interesting and frankly, juicy, I'm going to repost some of the judge's comments here:

"Based on the limited information available - and in large part because of Mother's and her counsel's repeated failure to provide further information to Father, the guardian ad litem, and the Court - the Court concluded that involvement of the children in filming is not in their best interests....Though several of the children indicate they enjoy filming, one does not and is experiencing physiological symptoms apparently brought on by the general stress of the custodial disputes, and another is in a facility undergoing treatment for mental and emotional issues tied in part to the filming and fame. It is reasonable to be concerned that one or more of the children who currently claim to enjoy filming may at some point suffer negative consequences they cannot foresee now as young teenagers.

"As the guardian points out, even those children who do not participate in the filming may be negatively affected by the show continuing without them. Indeed, the statements of several of the children to the effect that they need filming to survive, that it is their normal way of life, and that it feels weird not to film, although apparently intended to make filming seem innocuous or positive, raise concerns in the Court's mind as to whether continued filming is healthy for these children. Having a staged second birthday is hardly the normal activity that would occur absent filming....Taken altogether, the Court was faced with limited information, failures by Mother and her counsel to provide more information, real concerns about the mental and emotional effects of filming, and no way to determine whether those concerns are offset by the financial 'benefits of filming. The Court, therefore, concluded filming was not in the children's best interests.

In short order after that, the swiffering began. Like Area 51-level swiffering. The episode disappeared from a variety of its usual platforms, including TLCgo and various on demand services, even though all other episodes of Kate Plus 8 can easily be found. It was a true cover-up. And so hilarious, because once an episode airs, it exists forever. No amount of swiffering can undue the violation of court orders. And they couldn't keep it from me to recap. Thanks to our lovely poster here Ingrid who still had her itunes copy, I was easily able to view it and recap it and document its existence here for when the courts come knocking to throw everybody in jail for this. Much like Virginia and her Santa Claus, this episode exists! No College Bound episode?! Thank God! it lives, and it lives forever. A thousand years from now, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now!

Ha-ha.

And so we begin! Coming up on Kate Plus Four, a boring college tour, a boring summer vacation, and Kate plays victim about Collin and Hannah living with their dad and not her anymore, and burdens all the other children with this dysfunctional emotional baggage best addressed with therapists and other mental health professionals and perhaps a lobotomist. We're in for a narcissistic, parentified treat.

We start off immediately in North Carolina to begin the college tour, and I'm grateful. Remember in the olden days we would have to watch them pack and scream at each other for the first ten minutes? I certainly complained about it enough. The little kids are "obviously" going with them on the college tour trip, Kate says. I don't find that obvious at all. It's obvious to me they wouldn't go. Why do they need to go again? Mady and Cara have always been resentful of the younger kids, and their sentiments are mostly unjustified. But I think it's nice to let a college bound kid enjoy this whole process, and that includes leaving younger siblings who don't want to be there anyway at home, if you can. Kids occasionally need things just for them, and I'm not entirely convinced Kate has made as much of an effort as she should have to give each child in this family individual attention. It's things like this that only serve to deepen the twin's resentment, and I've thought for a long time that Kate creates divisions like this on purpose. Why? Because the more they all hate each other, the less likely they are to unite and gang up against their mother. The sextuplets will have their own college tours later where they will be the stars of the show, they aren't missing anything. They could stay home with family, friends, or Jon. On the several college tours I went to around the East Coast, I never once saw younger siblings there.

Of course what probably truly happened was the Tups are only along for the filming and drama and Kate wouldn't really have taken them on such a trip under any other scenario. Prove me wrong, Kate.

In typical lazy Kate fashion, she finally got around to organizing a few college tours after Mady and Cara complained that all their friends are touring schools. I'm not surprised their friends are visiting upwards of 20 colleges. That private school is full of rich ambitious kids with rich ambitious parents who can afford trips to visit and application fees to 20 colleges, and it's all hopelessly out of Kate's league and always has been. Like what is this family even doing at that school? Such a waste. Per Jon, Collin is thriving at public school. You're a fool, Kate.

I like how the producers force Kate to address all the nonsense going on here especially with Hannah and Collin missing. Kate practically chokes out, her eyes flickering with scorn, that Hannah chose to not go on the trip and stay back with her dad and she is supportive of this decision. There is so much contempt, insincerity and scorn in her voice and in those narrow eyes I cannot imagine even the dumbest of kids would not pick up on that and feel terrible. Poor Hannah. Sorry, Hannah. Sorry your mother is such a supreme and selfish bitch.

I refuse to recap old clips, you all know this. Moving on.

All the kids young and old seem to agree the twins won't miss their siblings once they're in school. That's sad. I missed my family when I was at college and so did my friends. We all had photos of mom and dad and siblings in our dorms while still enjoying college life and not wallowing in it. They're not ten anymore and just the irritating kid brothers and sisters, and the twins are not 14 anymore but 18 and adults, and should start behaving with some respect towards others even siblings. Their contemptuous sibling relationships are a failure. On Kate's part.

Kate announces that the twins are underestimating how much they will miss the great Kate, their bless-ed mother and soulmate. Eh, I don't think so. If anything they're overestimating it.

When asked what's most exciting about all this Mady doesn't say I'm excited to meet all new friends, take challenging and interesting classes, obtain a valuable degree that will springboard me into a rewarding career. Nope, rather she says, she is excited about not living at home. Sad.

For some reason they don't show us the first big college they visit. What, UNC didn't want to be part of a reality show? Heh! We skip right to the shitty college we knew they had visited when it happened, Belmont Abbey. We knew this because there was a posting on twitter about it, and nobody here had heard of the place but when we looked it up we discovered, yowser, what a shitty, shitty school. They might as well just say "We're a really good choice for a 'safety school'" in their college application materials. Thankfully neither twin ended up going there, but what a waste of everyone's time to bother. It also makes me think they only visited because somebody knew somebody and they could get clearance to film and it was something to move the plot along, which is pathetic. Indeed this tour seems super VIP. Private, lengthy, with gift bags at the end. That's not usually how tours work. On my college tours, which were all big groups, I remember feeling a bit like I was walking around campus with a used car salesman. They were all nice schools I visited (four, in total. Not 20), but something about trying to sell something always seems to ring too good to be true. I distinctly remember too on my Ithaca College tour, a great school in its own right with too many steps, an upperclassman walked casually by us on his way somewhere and loudly whispered "Don't go here!" Personally I thought that was hilarious. The parents, not so much. Anyway, not so VIP.

The twins have got to develop much better handshakes to be taken seriously. The limp little insecure thing they got going on is embarrassing. This is the sort of real world stuff a kid serious about making it in the working world needs to learn sooner rather than later, and things a real mother, and father, could help with.

Cara's tentative plan is to do a pre-med track, but she emphasizes this could change and this is just the plan for now. Generally people who give themselves a ton of outs are insecure and will take those outs sooner rather than later. She won't make it because, much like a law track, or engineering, or anything particularly rigorous, you're either all in with medicine or you'll fail. There is no "This is the plan for now." Mady doesn't know what she wants to do, which is code for she wants a degree in Olivia Jade.

An upperclassman gives them a boring tour of the campus, which looks like a really nice high school to me. Heh, even Kate remarks it's like an extension of high school. Ouch! Dude, I wrote that in this recap, but I'd never say that on national T.V. after the school so generously gave you a private tour, one-on-one attention from the staff and permitted you to film. Kate, you're an asshat.

I never understood what people mean by "professors have an open door policy." Like, everyone has meetings and commitments they have to attend and most professors have a home life they want to get back to at the end of the day, so your door isn't always going to be open. And what professor would say I don't see students and don't do office hours and won't help you? (Within reason). In sum, bragging about your open-door professors is dumb, that's like bragging that your professors are good at teaching. One would think that good teaching and open doors should come with the territory.

Mady would like to blend in and not have everyone in her business, thus would like a big school. Can I ask a question? Why on earth aren't they looking at Admin's alma mater, Penn State? It's far enough away to not run home every weekend, it has a rigorous and highly regarded academic program in a variety of majors, it gets confused for UPenn on a regular basis giving future employers for all time to come the impression you're an ivy leaguer (I still get this, score) and it's far cheaper than any of these hoity-toity stupid private schools. Also, ain't nobody ever in your business. Nobody will care who Mady is and most won't even know who she is in the first place, if that's what Mady is implying. Leave it to this group to not pursue something so obvious and well-suited.

Mady is predictably not impressed with the dorms, which look pretty typical to me. Mady announces she's not doing the roommate thing and will apply for a single room. Ooo, does the girl realize that single rooms are extraordinarily more expensive than doubling up, and there can be long waitlists for them? Also this is where a parent needs to step in and, absent a medical condition, insist their kid double up for all the life lessons having to share everything with a roommate provides an 18-year-old including an instant friend. Do singles when you're a junior and have already had the whole roommate experience and have your group of friends set and your parents or you can justify the extra expense if it's only for a year or two. Trust us older and wiser adults, Mady, it's not a good idea freshman year. Plus, unlike when we all went to school and they mostly matched you randomly, I've heard most colleges these days do extensive roommate surveys and personality tests and match you as if matching a marriage, trying to partner you with someone you're likely to be BFFs with. I would have loved that. I liked my freshman year roommate as a person and we never fought or anything, but we just never did anything together or became friends outside of living together because we had no common interests. It's hard when one person is a night owl and one an early bird and one a study rat and the other more into the social scene and one constantly homesick and the other loving the new freedom away from home. She was from Jersey, and only befriended other girls from Jersey, which came across as a bit stuck up. I think I would have loved to be matched with some great girls I met that year Anne and Lindsay from the start. We ended up rooming junior year with another girl we liked and had so much ridiculous fun and good times it seems impossible that was really my life. College was really good freshman year, but amazing the last two years, and I wish for four amazing years for Mady and Cara.

They head to driving school. In the middle of this college tour? That's hodgepodge. The twins are 18 and need a driving lesson? Shouldn't they have been driving for near three years now? Maybe not, and I'm fascinated by millennials when it comes to driving and how they drag their feet to learn and it's become almost uncool. When I was 15 it was the end of the world if your birthday fell on a weekday and nobody could take you to the DMV until the following Saturday to get your permit. It was like you would never drive, four days to wait! Some kids whined so hard about this parents would really pull them out of school just to get it done on their birthday. No such luck for me. I think this strange resistance to getting behind the wheel is a combination of kids being guilt-tripped into thinking any car they get into is killing the planet, and uber and other rideshares just being "in" right now. It was once cool for NYC kids to have others drive them, now it's cool for everyone. The twins explain however in their case it's because Kate won't teach them to drive, and they've only gotten behind the wheel twice. That is extremely selfish and misguided of Kate. Kate didn't teach them because the twins not having some independence benefits Kate, not the twins. Of course she has some other convoluted and not credible excuse why she never taught that that I don't care to follow. On the other hand, the twins could also take some initiative here and solicit friends and family to help them learn if Kate won't or sign up for driver's ed at school. I'm betting it was a combination of the two that resulted in this. In any case, it's no hyperbole to say Kate may very well have indirectly killed them with this little stunt of hers if God forbid they ever cause a car accident due to inexperience. Now that they are 18 and out of the home, they won't have nearly as much time to practice driving with an experience driver or the opportunity. There's nobody going to drive with you at college! They lost out on a crucial learning period. You need those hours behind the wheel to learn all the ropes, get comfortable, and encounter different and challenging driving situations. Practice and classes really do benefit kids' safety, as statistics show it dramatically reduces accident rates.

Kate launches into some weird diatribe about how she can't explain road signs to other people. So like if she sees a stop sign she couldn't explain to her passenger learning to drive that stop sign means stop? She's an idiot.

The twins say something extremely interesting, in that once a week Kate drives them to the grocery store, they get out, do the shopping, and return to the car. What does Kate do while she waits, play on her phone? Wtf! Mady justifies this as they need to learn the skill of shopping to live on their own. Um, shopping is a skill? That's a stretch. I never was made to do the shopping for my family (my parents were of the belief I should be studying and they should be raising the children) and I managed to pick it up on my first try away from home. Bread. Bread aisle. Milk. Milk aisle. Cookies. Bakery aisle. Coke and gum, check! Approach cash register and swipe card. Seriously? So Kate thinks they need life lessons in doing one of the simplest of adult chores, grocery shopping (by the time Mady and Cara have to grocery shop on a regular basis it will all be online anyway), but doesn't think they need to bother to learn one of the most complex and dangerous, driving? I could slap her silly.

The quadruplets would not dare to get into a car with the twins. Well right, why would they, with the twins only driving all of twice? They're smarter than you think.

Is this really a "driving school" or is this just somebody someone on the show knew to give them a few lessons? He looks super unofficial (he's wearing a zip-up sweatshirt) and the "school" looks more like a church parking lot on a Monday. No signs or other students around or anything. This viewer is skeptical.

Mady by the way is wearing a UNC sweatshirt. I bet this is the big school they visited earlier that wouldn't allow filming. Heh! Hint to parents. Don't buy school crap for the kid before they've signed on the dotted line. You're wasting your money, because they won't go there, and won't want to wear some other school's gear once they're at their real school. $59 bucks down the drain. This family has a weird obsession with North Carolina that I think has been unduly influenced by their ties to TLC in North Carolina. It's a nice place and all but it's awfully far from PA to be dating somebody from there or going to school there or considering buying a home there as Jon and Kate once were. Impractical is the word that comes to mind.

Mady is "over" learning how to drive, she just wants to drive. What? She has driven three times! Is she really as smart and academically successful as this episode keeps saying, good enough to apply to all these great schools? Typically smart and motivated kids don't throw in the towel after three lessons of something. Not even joking, that is a sure way to land yourself in a catastrophic car accident before you hit your 20's. I hope to God they and everyone else on the road around them stay safe.

Next up, Kate bribes the younger kids to film with Go Karts, which is usually an extremely expensive activity that most kids don't get to do much if at all. But for them, they've cleared out the place. I do like how the instructor keeps calling Kate "Katie," which tells me he has no idea who she is. Heh! Almost as good as if he were to snap his fingers and say remind me your name again, ma'am?

Mommy Dearest spends all of this entire exercise trying to beat her own children, but thankfully, she sucks at this and can't do it. Why is she even on the track in the first place? Go away and let the kids enjoy this.

Kate says she thought Aaden was clueless (aw just like his dad) but then realized the boys are teaming up against her to stop her from passing. Why does she act so offended by this? She's the one being the asshat here, not them. Stay in your lane and leave them the F alone. Now something awesome happens. Kate, who was so focused on passing Aaden for some god damn reason, crashes hard into the wall trying to do it! Yes! And tweaks her back. KARMA.

They have to turn off all the cars to tend to the narcissist who caused all this in the first place. Sadly most of the kids are concerned and feel bad for Kate, because they are nice people, when Kate doesn't deserve their empathy for the accident she caused and would probably just make some snide comment at them if the same thing happened to them and not bother to stop racing to check on them.

Mady correctly says while she felt bad for TFW, "maybe she shouldn't be trying to beat her kids." There is something very profound and metaphoric about that statement. Kate is too old to beat the younger generation now but can't accept it. She is also an ass for wanting to beat them, but doesn't see it. And can't "control" them anymore by beating them, which was going to happen eventually, but she refuses to believe it. That little wall gave her the big giant slap she finally deserved and shut her down, at last.

My favorite part is the sextuplets on the couch laughing hysterically over all this, high-fiving each other about how they hurt Kate on purpose. I picture a similar scenario thirty years from now when they high five each other after dropping Kate off at the shittiest nursing home in town, declaring they picked that one on purpose. Carry on, kids.

Joel "wins" the go kart race and predictably, Leah says he must have cheated. Because Kate has taught the children that anyone who excels at something must have cheated somehow, disregarding that most people who excel at the things excel because they are focused, diligent, calm, and most importantly work hard. Qualities Kate has never had. Projection at its finest.

I thought Kate was just whining when she called herself broken and was hobbling around everywhere, but she stops by Urgent Care and actually has a cracked rib. Ha! The problem with constantly griping and exaggerating is that when it actually is serious, nobody believes you. She's lucky she got production to stop for this, since apparently Urgent Care didn't allow filming inside so there was nothing to do.

Because the expensive Go Karts weren't enough of a bribe to make up the college tour to the younger kids, they next head to the U.S. National Whitewater Center for more. It's pouring rain and cold, so a normal family would have cancelled or rescheduled this. But they're filming, so the show must go on.

They're going to do some kind of jump from a 100 foot tower, in a harness. I have no idea what this has to do with whitewater or for that matter what value this adds to one's life and well-being, but whatever.

I'm not sure why Kate is even acting like she's thinking about trying this, since no reputable organization would allow you to harness up with a cracked rib. Don't be stupid. We get to re-live Kate's pathetic jump/push off in New Zealand with the Patron Saint of Haters, Brad, and this is the one clip I'm happy to watch again.

Is this safe in the pouring rain? Doesn't seem like it. Leah and Aaden admit they're as afraid of heights as Kate. "Mother's gene," Aaden quips. I love how they all call her Mother, it's so disrespectful! And anyone who disrespects Kate is a friend of mine. Poor Aaden, let's hope that's the only gene you got from Mother.

Mady seems really scared to jump and would appreciate to just free fall backwards. The instructor explains he can't physically push her off, he can only talk her through it. Aw darn, the stupid US of A and all our no-touchy grabby liability policies (that have worked oh so well for us, or not). I like New Zealand, where Brad got to just push a bitch off a platform no questions asked. There's a whole lot of boring drama about all this, but when the first jump actually happens with Cara, I realize this is not a free fall at all but rather being lowered at a good clip by a wire. Well, that's lame. But lame as it is, none of the other kids will go, as they are too scared. And that's where a mother like Kate really does affect her kids, because she's imposed all her hang ups on them at their young ages when they should be carefree. It's not important they jump off a stupid ledge at a dumb park. But it is important they take risks in life, take initiative, and be brave. And she's shaken those values out of them with her own mental health issues. Good job.

While I appreciate that Kate doesn't give the kids who didn't jump a hard time about it, she is misguided in how proud she is of them to make their own choices about what they would like to do. She has absolutely no understanding of how 18 years of her parenting has messed them up. There is a parenting theory that suggests that one should only praise kids for things that were hard or challenging for that kid, even if the activity isn't challenging to another kid. That is because scientific studies actually show that children and even adults who are praised for things they are naturally good at don't try as hard. It wasn't hard to say no to jumping when you're scared. Nor is it wrong not to jump, but the one who did something hard and challenging and stepped out of their comfort zone was Cara.

They are suddenly walking out of the back of an absolute mansion right on a beautiful dock. Yowser, where did this come from and are they staying here? Good grief, what a VIP, unrealistic college trip. I was lucky to spend a couple nights in a Red Roof Inn on the side of the interstate when I had my great four-college tour. It was clean and provided a continental breakfast. Also, what happened to the whitewater place? Was that it? They just had Cara jump off the ledge and did nothing else there? Strange!

I think Kate shouts at Aaden no football, but I don't see Aaden or a football so I'm not sure what she's talking about. In any case, "Aaden, don't forget, no fun," quips Mady. They have Kate's number.

They ride a boat to lunch, and the kids whine that Kate is obsessed with boats. Of course she is, because boats have historically made her kids uncomfortable and made them vomit, so she likes them. She is sick like that, and someday the remaining six of them will see it.

Kate is still harping about her stupid Go Kart accident. "You tried to overtake me when you weren't ready and I was too good for you," Aaden explains to her, accurately. Exactly. This is Kate's fault for trying to do something she wasn't ready for and wasn't good enough to do. Aaden and Joel had every right to try to prevent her from passing. That's the game! I'm glad these kids don't take no shit from this woman, because they shouldn't.

Mady says all Kate has talked about is her ribs, and instead of laughing and taking the teasing in stride, Kate snaps back that they will have to do all her unpacking and chores. I half expect a kid to say that's what we always do anyway. Also, how come this family can't just joke and tease without it always taking such a sinister turn? Because Kate wasn't joking when she says they're coming home to be her personal slaves. Also, people that constantly complain about minor injuries and ailments are weak and irritating. I once broke up with somebody because they were like that. Seriously.

Mercifully, we flash forward about a year to one week before the twins depart to college. Glad we didn't have to sit through a whole year of this drivel.

Kate plans a special send-off dinner in which the family will eat crab legs at the dining room table. They have never eaten there, the kids explain, as it's the adults table. What adults? It's just Kate! I totally get that back in the day it was common to have certain areas of the house the kids just didn't use, often dining rooms and places like libraries and studies. All rooms that are fading from existence in most modern homes. But this is 2019, and I think we've evolved a bit as humans to realize that there is no point in spending all this money on a house if your family doesn't enjoy it. We had a kitchen table growing up and a dining room table because that's just how houses were, and I realize now how stupid that was, as we could have saved an inordinate amount of space by just using one table at all times.

Oh, Kate's absurd! She's making Leah shrink wrap the dining room table and chairs with industrial grade nursing home plastic. Good, the bitch should practice for when she's old and the kids hate her and she has to eat her dinner through a straw. Again, don't have anything in your house you don't really use or are afraid to mess up as that's not really living.

Also, just pointing out, this table and the chairs are garbage. Wayfair at best. Maybe Pottery Barn. If it were Restoration Hardware stuff or something, I sort of get trying so hard to keep them nice, but they're not, so Kate is merely a white trash poser pretending she knows how the rich really live. And for the record, I was a nanny for a family worth in the tens of millions, and we sat at their nice dining room table every night with just placemats. They still have that table to this day, and it's fine.

The younger kids think Kate's shrine to the twins over the mantle is creepy, like the twins are dead. Yep, it's definitely creepy. But kids, this is tough for Kate, because the four left of the younger kids are not nearly as loyal as Mady and Cara are, and are probably at high risk of defecting to Jon before high school is over. If Hannah can go, so can the rest. The twins are all Kate really has for sure, so I get it.

Leah gets in a stupid fight with Mother over icing a cake. I detest grown adults who pick stupid fights with their children, they are immature and selfish. I swear I heard Leah say, "Mother, oh God, Mother! Blood, blood!" No?

Kate spends the whole crab dinner, which turned out pretty nice, whining about the twins leaving. The twins speculate that they will get along better with Kate once they are out of the home. I wonder if Collin and Hannah thought the same thing.

Question, does Kate ever talk to the twins about anything other than how much the family will miss them when they leave? Like what classes they are interested in taking, what clubs they think they might join, their ideas for how they will manage their time on their own? My God, all she yammers about is her own selfish wants and desires, it must be exhausting for any of these kids.

Kate says she will miss Cara's high-pitched screeching over how cute the dogs are. I can picture that, I've been told my voice enters a whole other octave when I speak to my dog Sea Gordon. I mean, look at him, you would too!

A post shared by Sea Gordon (@sea.gordon) on

Hey, where are the dogs anyway? Wouldn't it be nice at this last supper to see three big fluffy dogs sitting in front of the fireplace?

After dinner they dive into cake and get cards. Thankfully the twins express gratitude for all this and avoid most snide remarks, saying that the family made them feel special. Well, that's good. Special, peaceful moments like this in this family seem sadly quite rare from what we've seen. The sextuplets got them a gift card, which is about as impersonal as it gets. As was suggested on the blog, how about a nice framed photo of the quadruplets to put on their desk in the dorm room?

Kate robotically starts reading from her phone a speech she wrote, because someone who does not have a heart could never just speak from their heart. She reads it way too fast, like a junior in high school doing their first oral presentation in AP English class. Pathetic. Is this a eulogy or a college send-off? It's so weird! Of course Kate throws in a lightly veiled jab at Jon, choking up as she describes how difficult and painful childhood has been for the twins. I'm sure it is particularly painful to lose your entire relationship with your father when you're only 12 years old, and Kate is dreaming if she thinks the twins won't figure out how that happened sooner rather than later. Hannah and Collin did.

What's really sad about this is what could have been. If Kate would just co-parent with Jon, she could have said hey we're gonna have a send-off for the twins at the house, why don't you swing by with Hannah and Collin so we can all have dinner together? You don't have to do everything with your ex or even most things, but there's no reason you can't share an important meal like this occasionally for the sake of the kids not always have to be reminded how fractured the family is.

I finally notice the dogs, relegated to the kitchen behind a baby gate. That's stupid, they want to be with their family.

Kate then burdens the children with her emotional baggage and unresolved issues and says the reason she's been in denial about the twins leaving is because they keep having family members leave. Woman needs a dictionary because kicking your kid out of the home to go live with their father is not the same thing as "family members leaving." Kate then says, well, you're not leaving. As in leaving-leaving, she means. And Mady goes, "Well, I mean, I am leaving."

Baw! Sometimes, I really like the twins, faults and all.

On the couch, Kate talks about all the pain this has all caused her. Now imagine what it's like for a 13-year-old boy to have to live in an institution, you heifer. Or for a 14-year-old girl having to beg the judge to let her live with her father because it's hell at home. She really is the worst.

Also can Kate stop calling the children "family members who left"? They have names. Collin and Hannah. Use them, you bitch. I like how there's a glimpse of Aaden whispering to somebody and cracking up. Who knows what the kids are saying, but this is a joke to them, as it should be. The quadruplets say later on the couch all the crying was ridiculous. Yes it was.

"You're leaving for the right reasons," Kate praises the twins. Right, because children that prefer to live with their father have left for all the wrong reasons. Unbelievable. Is she for real?

And why in the world is she bringing up all this family drama crap when the twins are just trying to have a healthy transition to a very exciting time in their lives. What is wrong with her?

Glaringly missing from all this? So where the hell did the kids decide to go to college anyway? I'm not asking for specifics. Just, a college in upstate New York would be fine. But this is such weak editing, given the entire episode was about choosing colleges, they don't end up telling you what the result was at the end.  We know from social media that Mady chose Syracuse and Cara chose Fordham, both in New York and both decently far away from Kate. Both good schools. I truly wish them the best and definitely wonder how some serious time away from Kate may spark some reflection.

Kate wraps up the episode with how great the twins are in various ways (they're not that great in reality), throwing in there how much she has Mother-ed them, and you can tell Kate is implying that how good they turned out (they aren't that good) is because of her Mother-ing. She's annoying at best.

Kate? The twins turned out just okay in spite of you, not because of you, and it was nearly pure chance they didn't go the way of Hannah and Collin too during all those years.

Who knows what the future holds for more episodes about this family, but I think in light of the fiasco in the courts over this episode, there's a good chance TLC has finally decided not to ever film them again. If they do, it's not going to be for a long time, like when everyone is no longer minors. This could be my last recap! Until next time, if there is a next time.

I found it telling that within a few weeks of getting to college, Mady erased the link to her YouTube channel and replaced it with a link to vote.org. I don't believe that's because she's suddenly become "politically" aware, but I do think she pulled the link because (1) it would not endear her to the people who are around her day to day; and (2) she just doesn't have the time to keep it up. That sort of vanity channel was just not ever going to serve her from school. Sorry, Kate.

Let's face it: Olivia Jade (of Loughlin fame) spent a LOT of her time posting to social media about the "complimentary" stuff she was promoting. So MUCH time, in fact, that she was rarely to be found in classes, which has been a large part of her problem since her parents got charged. In Mady's case, she hasn't the luxury of so rich a parent that she can afford to muck around to that extent.

I AM wondering if Kate's lengthy silence---from the last, disgraced/illegal episode---is due to court action or new activity on one of her old, worn-out show concepts. God help us if another season of Kate pretending to date comes our way.

From Dmasy --

Admin, you did it! A recap for every episode. You have fulfilled your commitment.

I appreciate the details and your "slant" on Kate's personality.

I will never understand a mother so hell-bent-competitive with her children that she injures herself in an attempt to win.

I think there is a chance that the tell-all book will be available before there is another new episode.

Admin, thanks.

You would like to think it's just a joke she has with her kids, being so competitive. "I'm going to crush you!!!" and it's just family teasing and a family inside joke.

But, no, she's absolutely for real. She really must beat her own children.

The boys handling her perfectly. Ignore her, don't engage, while smoothly boxing her out.

Very interesting. I was somewhat surprised by Mady's comment that she just wanted to go to a big school and blend in. I would have expected a comment like that from Cara, or Collin, or Alexis. Not Mady. Maybe Mady really is feeling like it's not so great after all to be famous. Maybe she got some light teasing at college about the show, or didn't like when girlfriends recognized her. In any case, I'm surprised she took the youtube channel link down, and I think it says a whole heck of a lot. At the very least, she doesn't want it easily found by her new college friends.

Good recap and must have been especially difficult with such boring material to work with! I watched it on demand after the airdate, and could barely get through it. I found all the kids distasteful except the boys. This is not a happy family! No wonder the twins are glad to be off to college. Life for the remaining quads ( sad lol) will be boring and miserable- kids, get yourselves over to Jon's!! I found so many oddities in the episode I can't begin to list them. Thanks for the recap, Admin- must have been a dull task!

According to reports from the U.K., when the 72 female Members of Parliament, who signed a letter of support for Meghan after claiming she was a victim of racism, were contacted none of them were able to give an example of racism in the press.

&&&

I think the general sentiment is the press wouldn't be going after her so viciously but for her race, hence the racism. However I'm surprised those women couldn't come up with more specific examples, since they're all easily out there.

Straight out of Compton. Drapes for hair. Constant references to them being a "biracial" couple instead of just a couple. Skynews called her the whitest black girl and says Harry has jungle fever (that's NASTY). Constant references from the BBC to them being a "modern" couple. Why are they so modern as opposed to Prince William and Kate? Because she's black? It is fair to say of course that a lot of this just comes from tweets and comments and not from the press itself, but no one is deleting these comments or tweets.

There is of course mountains of coverage on them I've seen that is not racist in the slightest, especially from the American press, but I'm convinced now there is plenty enough out there to fairly say that lots of this coverage is flat out racist.

Admin, thanks so much for this terrific recap of what seems like the most deadly dull show yet. Talk about trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. And thank you, Ingrid, for providing the episode!

I don't think the tongue-in-cheek "quads" aptly sums up the remaining 4 tups. They'd be more appropriately labeled as "cast members." The cast members went along on the college trip because that's what the producers planned. If the producers wanted those cast members to stay back in PA and make balloon animals with Brownie, that's where they would have been. And if it rained on the day that outdoor activity was planned, then, well, it was on the production schedule, so the cast members had to show up.

Mady taking down her You Tube channel really surprised me. It makes me wonder just how much legal trouble Kate may be in. A judge already sent one famous mother to prison and another is going trial for arrogantly thinking they could break the law for their children. Maybe someone suggested it just reminds everyone she is acting like Olivia Jade and it looks bad for Kate. How is what Kate did...actually going against a judge, any less serious? She put money over her minor children's mental and emotional health. She needs to FINALLY face consequences for what she has put her children through.

Kate isn't getting any younger. She has driven away every person in her life who may have at one time given a damn about her. It takes a special kind coldness to refer to two of her own young children as simply, "family members." She has tried to brainwash the ones who remain that they are the true victims. They are the ones who were abandoned by everyone around them. Kate doesn't deserve their loyalty. She is the reason they have no family. She will be a very lonely, broken women in the near future. It really could not happen to a more deserving "mother" than Kate Gosselin.

Ingrid said...

I will never understand a mother so hell-bent-competitive with her children that she injures herself in an attempt to win.
**************************
I sort of don't think she is doing it just to be competitive. She just wants to have ALL the attention on her plus to keep the big money coming in. Whether it be winning against the kids, acting ridiculously shrieky when supposedly scared by things. (Even back on J&K8 when she couldn't climb the solid steps of a lighthouse).

On DWTS she had to share the limelight with others so she acted like a bitch to Tony at practice. Hit Emeril. Grabbed the book from Andy Cohen on his show although she said nothing interesting. The RV trip. Her behavior drew more people to watch her show. That is why she wants shows of her own or in the past to "be the one with the mic" instead of being a plain guest on many others.

Throwing a hissy fit while camping with the Palins. Yelling at Jon in public. Keeping the cameras on her ordering free stuff while Collin suffered, Trying on or buying stuff when it was suppose to be the kids' shopping time being filmed. So many examples we all remember. Same with her couch interviews. She had to get all eyes on her. They could have filled the show with alot more of the kids' activities if they could cut back on the couch crap.

She has to be the bitch or shriek or something to cause drama. She doesn't care as long as she gets viewers to watch her. For the attention. (and the money) Even though she wants the big money she can't let the kids be the bigger draw of viewers than herself (in her head).

There is virtually no racism in a country with a population of over 300 million. Correct. That's not according to me. That's according to data, they've even done experiments in which one could make anonymous donations with money give to them to racist groups AND get a reward for it, and the vast majority of people refuse to, declining the monetary reward. I think Kate's extreme reaction to the twins leaving has more to do with filming than actually missing them. She has made it clear that she wants another season of K+D8, but ratings were horrible enough with the twins involved. Think of how bad they would be without M&C. She knows she's less likely to get another season without them. And K+8 has now dwindled to K+4, which isn't interesting to anyone but her. When Kate said they're not leaving, she was trying to convince herself that the twins would still be there to film with her. And when Mady said no, I'm leaving, I hope she meant that she is making the break from her home life to the life she wants to build for herself. College, friends, independence, internships--those are all far more tempting than heading back to Ghettoville to sit around the house and wait for cameras to show up.

This episode definitely sounds low-budget. No shopping for new clothes or luggage in anticipation of the trip? No ripping tags off new clothes to be packed. No shots of the inside of the vacation house (did they even stay at that house?). One trip around a go-kart track, one jump (which nobody but Cara did), and a free college tour. Jon said once that the kids enjoyed the activities part of filming, but there wasn't much in the way of activities here. TLC is definitely dialing back the perks associated with filming this family.

I hope Kate has saved millions, because it doesn't look like filming is going to be a lucrative career from here on out. They've only filmed 10 episodes of anything Gosselin-related in the last 3 years. None of those have gotten good ratings. There's still 3 1/2 years of private school tuition to cover for the quads, plus college (and maybe grad school or medical school or advanced certifications) for at least the 6 kids who are with her. Sounds like legal fees are going to continue for quite some time, and then Kate has to cover her own expenses--and "retire" someday. Let's hope she's prepared for all that. Wait, what am I saying? Of course she's prepared. She's made millions off the show, and she always brags about how frugal she is. So there's no possible way she wouldn't be well-prepared for the future. Right, Kate?

Ingrid said...

So there's no possible way she wouldn't be well-prepared for the future.

...............
I think she has a huge pile of money set aside for herself when all the kids move out. She won't let them know or will claim that SHE earned that and they got their share and used what they were allowed. Hope some of or all of the kids can sue her someday. I think she owes them alot for their years they did not get 15%.

I bet atleast Mady if not both twins will be up for more filming. It is extra money for them to support their expensive tastes while in college. My granddaughter is trying to go to a 4 yr state college for a degree in Chemistry (very smart girl)with little to no student loans. She has not had to take out a loan after 1.5 yrs so far. She works and scrimps and then I see these greedy entitled kids and the money they waste. Makes me sad for my GD.

Yeah. If anybody ends up engaged early or even starting their own family, TLC will probably come knocking. And at that point because they're adults they might feel much more in control of the process and able to set boundaries, which might make them more apt to film with a tradeoff of a big check.

TFW's excuse about not being able to explain road signs? Spare me, heifer. Does she expect us to believe her worldly, "culturized" 18-year-olds don't understand basic road signs, and would be sending mail boxes, old ladies, and farm animals flying through the air under their mother's tutelage?

Road signs aside...if TFW was truly concerned about how "family members leaving" impacted her children, wouldn't it have been nice if she'd put on her big girl panties and made it her goal to help those kids learn to drive? If TLC had offered to film it, you can bet your butt she would've been on board.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

It just occurred to me...for the first time in their lives, Mady and Cara have only themselves to take care of. They were parentified from jump, and this freedom from 7 (now 5) younger siblings and a needy, temperamental mother may be intoxicating. If friends want to make weekend plans, the girls won't have to check with Mom first to find out if they need to be available for filming.

She's lazy and driving would give them too much independence meaning they won't spend their Saturday nights with Mother. Just admit it!

Trying to explain they haven't learned because she heard it was better if she doesn't teach them and besides she can't explain road signs, especially when there are dozens of other ways they could have learned driving aside from Mother teaching them.

Also, I learned all the road signs that I didn't know or understand already from reading through the driver education book. I didn't need my parents to sit there and explain them to me on the road. There are literally like 2-3 road signs that aren't totally obvious to even a first grader.

Anyway, perfect ending. TFMJG cracks a rib, the boys win a race against her and enjoy it, the twins get freedom. I'm not sure we will ever see any of them.on film again.
Here is the actual reality, the twins were on a basic cable show that had its height of popularity/ notoriety over a decade ago. in their small private school and their hometown, they were big fish in a small pond, they had been on tv. Now they are both small fish in BIG ponds, larger schools with folks from all over and popular folks on campus will be sports standouts, sorority or fraternity members, performing arts standouts, upperclass members who are standouts in their areas of study or student involvement. I hope the twins can enjoy themselves and find new interests and things they are really good at, sway from TFMJG.,

She said long ago that people would come to her with ideas for reality shows and she could visualize in her head how they would play out. I think she is constantly doing that with her own show--constantly thinking about how each scene will play out in the show, and her idiotic antics and stupid faces and constant freak-outs are her way of making it more exciting--or at least less boring. She's always trying to jazz it up a bit, even when she makes a fool of herself. I remember a clip I saw from the dating show, and she's calling out to one of her dates, "What do you think life would be like with 8 kids?". Say what? 8 kids? Two of them were already living with Jon and two were leaving for college in a few months. So none of those guys were ever going to have to live with "8 kids". Just another lame attempt to add some excitement to a boring scene, and another reminder to the viewing audience that she gave birth to 8 kids. "Look at me! Look at me! I have 8 kids!".

So, my only interesting question is: Kate, did your parents teach YOU to drive? Did YOU perhaps take driver education yourself? Clearly you acquired said skill one way or the other somehow in your life before you went off to, I'm to bored to look it up myself, you went off to nursing school and left home.

So think about it, why on earth did you not think this through that you would not do the same for your own children? No don't bother, We all know the sad truth. Not because it's better for someone else to teach your own children. It's because you really were just that lazy. How sad. So, when your remaining children at home turn 16 are you going to give them two lessons to drive and them you drive them to the store and just dump them at the store to shop for you? I suppose that implies then that they will then do the cooking since you haven't cooked in over a year?

I mean honestly. Too many questions not enough time. I've raised 3 children, I'm a grandmother of now 7 grandchildren (Layla, my granddaughter arrived late October.) I mean it's insane pure insanity. My husband and I both took our kids out--both good weather and bad weather on purpose so they'd know how heck to drive in it navigate in all the snow and such so if they got stuck out there in black ice alone they'd know what they were doing with it. We went in with all the kids and alone for years, how to shop, what things cost, what's on sale, store brand on some things in fine, how to use a coupon.

Have to wonder if Ms. Queen of Coupons here ever taught her own children how to use a coupon. Since we've all seen her actually just chuck crap into the shopping cart before.

I hope her girls succeed in college without the need for reality paychecks in life. There is more to life. But without Kate's reality paycheck....oh, dare I wonder if her mortgage, and all that, will just sink her with no income.

This read, entertaining yes, quite well Admin thank you. Leaves us all to wonder what the remaining years of her life will look like when her children fly the nest if the first two of her children upset her this much (over filming, not for much else I doubt.)

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Layla (#38), and I think simply and frighteningly put, being the mother of 8 kids is TFW's "brand." And the fact that 25% of those kids are no longer under her roof barely registers with her. Hi Everyone. I've been lurking but not posting so much lately. But I'd just like to share something that resonates.
I actually work in Child Protection. Many of the children under our care come from birth parents who have had many kids. Eight children plus is very common and that's just in my little part of the world.
I imagine in the USA this is compounded. I have actually raised 5 children as a single parent and sure as hell didn't have anyone helping me do it. But I used the resources I had,and we pulled through.
Two of my children (the oldest is 24) are now university graduates. The next two are at university. Fifteen year old is still at school and a work in progress. But all of them know the value of hard work and hopefully I've given them that example so they can go on to do the extraordinary things they're meant to do with this life they've been given.
Kate Gosselin's kids need to get away from her. The environment they're living in is beyond toxic and I really believe that they are experiencing Stockholm syndrome. How could they not be. Those last four kids with her, I'm hoping will find their way. I think the boys will be fine. Not so much Leah and Alexis without a huge amount of deprogramming. Especially Alexis.I would worry about her the most.
Sorry for my rant It just needed to be said

He seems to be a very bright and caring young man and his posts are always thoughtful. Both Collin and Hannah are lucky to be with Colleen and Jon who seem to be doing a great job raising them. Hopefully the final 4 will see the light and at least spend some time with their dad.

I just have to say, whenever I read about Kate sending Collin away for three years, not informing his father, and worst of all not visiting him or bringing his siblings to see him, I am filled with fury.

I have some friends who have had to make the horrible decision to agree to their child’s placement in long term residential care. This child has severe mental health issues. It was only because their 12 year old attacked the mom with a knife, which resulted in yet another 72 hour hold and hospitalization. They truly had exhausted every other avenue and are broken and devastated. They are not well off - dad has a disability and mom is the primary breadwinner. They have two more kids still at home. They have spent everything they had on caring for this child. They lost their house and declared bankruptcy several years ago and if it wasn’t for grandparents giving them their home and moving to a condo nearby they would have been homeless.

Families have to make this choice every year, and they don’t do it flippantly. It is because it is truly a last resort and even then they work to bring their children home as soon as possible. If you’d like to learn more, I recommend the following documentaries: Diagnosis Bipolar and A Dangerous Son (HBO); Far from the Tree; The Kids We Lose.

Kate is a mother only by virtue of the fact she gave birth. I pray that the children will eventually reconcile with their dad, siblings, and extended family but even if they dont, I pray they escape her.

I would lay odds that if/when Kate breaks her silence on the whys and wherefores of Collin being institutionalized for three years, with virtually no contact with family, a story very similar to this will be concocted. Of course, she's always got "his doctors" to fall back on.

silimom (#49), the story you shared is truly heartbreaking. The child's removal from the home was absolutely the last resort. And I'm sure each family member experienced his/her own hell before and after that decision.

If that sort of pain, drama, stress and financial strain had been TFW'S motivation to remove Jon's son, then why was she so joyfully tweeting within the weeks and months after he was gone? Best birthday ever -- with only 5 of the 6 tups present! Space camp! Puppies! Tweet parties! Fun, fun, fun!

My heart goes out to the 4 remaining cast members at Ms. Gosselin's Home For Exploited Children, who must surely be aware that their contracts could be terminated at any moment. If the golden child fell out of favor with Mommie Dearest, then no one is safe.

Yes foxy, Collin did join the JROTC as either an actual class or as an extra curricular activity at school (don’t know what his school considers it). He wrote a very nice tribute to veterans and looks really sharp in his uniform.

&&&

I think his ROTC track is such a great choice for a kid like him. As wonderful as Colleen and Jon are for his sense of belonging and well being, as he gets older he's also going to need to find his place in the community to truly feel like he has a purpose. A military-like track leading to a possible stint in the military might be just the ticket. I hope he considers the military once he is 18, he has just the sort of compassion and focus that would make an excellent member of any branch. I think it would open doors for a kid like him beyond his wildest imagination.

She will not be able to cite 'his doctors' because Jon has custody now and he has been talking with the docs since working to get him out. Jon won't allow any sh*t talk from her about Collin's 'condition'...…. Jon has already said kart was lying and basically threw him away because she could not control him. Jon will stick up for Collin now that the gag order is expired and will have his medical records to prove kart was lying....

Also, don't you know kart is probably moving heaven and earth with the kids money to get another gag order in place! Hopefully her refusal to follow judges ruling will not be in her favor to keep things quiet going forward if she tries to 'tell her side of the story'...

she can't win at this point. her glory days are OVER.

Giff said...

I think Collin's issues all stem from external forces...his mother's history of physical and emotional abuse, having a camera stuck in his face his entire life, the horrible divorce of his parents, being isolated from extended family...I could go on. I believe any problems Collin had are a direct result of Kate's treatment of him and not a brain chemical imbalance, or something he was born with. At that age, a parent can tell a doctor anything. If Collin were a "danger" to anyone, there is no way Kate, or a judge would have allowed him to leave the facility and go directly to live with his sister. She would do anything to get Hannah back and you better believe, she would not be worried about her son's medical privacy. If anything were truly wrong with him, she would have used it to her advantage for sympathy and publicity. She probably would have exploited the situation with a special "homecoming " episode. She was vague about his issues because she created them. She can't release his medical records, and even if she could, they would show the abuse SHE inflicted on him from the time he was a baby. Her abuse of him...even through her own words, is well documented. There was a reason she refused to tell Jon where he was or what his problems were, because the truth of her abuse would be revealed.

My theory on this tragic mess, is that Collin got fed up and fought back. She has her idiot minions trying to convince people her own son was some psycho, when in reality, the only psycho is Kate. Imagine a child repeatedly being abused , having it reported and NOTHING ever being done? Actually, I think that Kate did not want to be defied and feared SHE might cause him serious physical harm and that is why he was sent away. It's all about what's best for Kate.

We are all just crazy in love with him.

I think you're right--she can't control the narrative now because she can't force Jon to keep quiet. If a judge imposes a gag order on him, there will be one on her too. She hasn't posted in IG lately because she knows there will be talk in the comments about her filming the kids illegally. There is no possible way she can twist that into something positive, not even for the die-hard sheeple. And then there will be questions about whether there will be more shows/seasons, and I have a feeling TLC isn't taking her calls lately. I really do hope this is the end of filming for the kids. Let them just be kids! They can never go back and have the childhood she has stolen from them. Never.

I'm watching Dancing With The Stars, they are down to semifinal's next week. just thinking about Shopping Kart's performance compared to Sean Spicer. Sean was ALWAYS pleasant, smiling, APPRECIATED the judges comments, THANKED the judges for their critiques, promised he would work harder on their suggestions, appreciated the support from the audience, and... THANKED HIS PRO PARTNER Lindsay Arnold! Every Week!
Lindsay's mother-in-law died two weeks ago, and Jenna Johnson stepped in to replace Lindsay. Sean did not complain that it would be harder for him with a new partner. Instead he said "Couldn't ask for anyone better," and then he expressed sincere sympathy for Lindsay and her family! "My heart goes out to Lindsay and her husband Sam and her family." Sean also promised from, IMHO, having the rhythm of a slug to having the rhythm of a frog, which is pretty rhythmic if you've ever heard a chorus of spring peepers! He worked hard and listened to his pro partner.
Just the complete total opposite of Shopping Kart. Such a squandered opportunity for her. on Monday Joey Fatone was back as guest judge, and he won way back in season 4! Folks who didn't do so well in prior seasons, but had good sense of humor, have been back for funny skits, some nonwinners do get the chance to go on tour, things like that. Shopping Kart didn't even try.

Watching AMC/Sundance's A Preppy Murder: Death in Central Park.

It's fantastic so far, and so comprehensive. they’re spending so much time explaining who Jennifer the victim was and what NYC looked like in the 80s for a kid her age. They found so many people from back then to interview. Very well done.

Watching AMC/Sundance's A Preppy Murder: Death in Central Park.

I'm so glad they're showing Jennifer in such a fair light. It's about time! I remember when this happened, and all the news coverage just tore her reputation to shreds. They portrayed her as someone who deserved to be murdered, when in truth she was just a teenage girl with a crush on a guy. The picture of the wounds to her neck that was shown--that was never shown before, probably because it shows just how violent her death was and completely discredits Robert's story about how she died. But he was so handsome, nobody wanted to believe someone who looked like that could be a murderer. He got more jail time for dealing drugs than he did for murder! That is just so wrong. But I'm happy that we're finally seeing Jennifer as the spirited young girl she really was.

I was living in NYC at this time, had only been there about 15 months, but in my mid-20s I found the description of the "preppy" nightclub scene very far from the life I led in the West Village. I do remember following this story avidly, as the victim and suspect were so far out of the crime norms at the time. I never found the "rough sex" story credible (I couldn't imagine doing that in the dead of night in Central Park, sorry), and wondered how the perp thought he was going to get away with it. In the end he didn't, but he also didn't get anywhere near as much prison time as a non-white defendant would have.

For all we know, maybe C & H are happy that their dad is exposing Kate for all of the lies she has told about them. Maybe they think that the only way to unify the family (or at least the kids) is to tear down the wall of untruths Kate has managed to build around them. Jon finally telling the truth about the divorce, etc., will maybe help them to come to terms with what really happened---as opposed to what their mother has fed them for years.

I actually feel like Jon has received advice about this and most likely discussed it with Collin and Hannah. I suspect they want their version of the truth out there, because lets face it, you don't lock a kid in an institution just because they have ADHD. I just believe he wants to set the record straight. Be interesting to see what he has to say.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

And also Kate just accused Hannah and Collin, CHILDREN, of being family members who have left as if they have abandoned her like a deadbeat father. She couldn’t even give them the dignity of calling them by their names. Perhaps they would like their father to set the record straight about who left who in this family. This whole thing is a huge mess started by Kate. Jon doesn’t have this problem with any of his other exes. Meanwhile Kate trashes every single man who has ever been in her life. The pattern fits.

Sheeple believe Collin was in some sort of special school for the years he went missing. The website for this place clearly identifies it as specifically for children and adults with psychiatric disorders. Which is a far cry from ADHD. I hope Jon can produce receipts in terms of the actual doctors' "diagnosis" that resulted in that child being dumped in this facility for that length of time. That may be the only way to shut her up.

The courts removed Collin from the hospital and gave him Hannah, two children who have proven to be quite disturbed in Kate's custody, because the judge knew Jon would do what was in their best interest. The armchair quarterbacking about what he should or shouldn't say without having any idea what was discussed in this family is both absurd and rather funny. There is a real lack of understanding here about how much abused kids need validation of various degrees. And although the situation is unusual, the validation may very well come from someone finally saying something different about them in public than the shit their mother has said for ten years.

It seems to me a MUCH more believable story would have been to say we walked home for a bit then we split ways to our homes she cutting through central park and I never saw her again.

Then, he should have taken her purse and gotten rid of it. That way it can be speculated she had to have been hurt by a vagrant or a drug addict in a robbery, FAR MORE believable than his story.

This story would have worked in the 80s, with forensics weak and no security cameras everywhere.

She’s probably burning up the phone lines with her lawyers trying to find out if they can quash the program or sue. Collin and Hannah probably know about the interview and may have even seen it since it’s pre-taped. Colleen “liked” his IG post so we know that she approves of the interview. Hopefully he’ll be well spoken and articulate unlike TFW with her “code speak” on Ellen....”there are ones of us who....”. What an idiot she was on that show.

His brother tells him that he might want to start by stop calling their mother “mommy” all the time. Interesting idea but there's no way a court of law would ever require a network to continue paying off a star's lifestyle just because the star feels they are entitled to it. MAYBE TLC was forced to pay or agreed to pay as part of a settlement some kind of severance to her when Jon was initially successful in stopping the show upon the divorce. MAYBE. But if there were it was probably just a lump sum.

Although, Kate's ability to more or less maintain her lifestyle, namely the house, remains one of the great Gosselin mysteries.

Um, so, not speaking for the jury. The jury spoke themselves once their role was over. They are allowed to. Juries speak all the time after the case and are permitted too. So too did Chamber's jury speak.

You might want to look at what they said. They explained the case was very circumstantial to them. In other words, a couple scratches didn't mean much to them but to add to the pile of "circumstantial evidence." They explained what was taking them so long was to go line by line through all the evidence. They were by no means "deadlocked."

They might have convicted but it was not going to be on some scratches.

"Dr. Oz asked Jon if he noticed Kate changing while they did the family reality TV show. Jon said, “I didn’t really notice those personality disorders till after filming, fame and money and I think fame is worse than money.”

He elaborated, “Fame’s different only because fame, things are given to you, you’re held to a higher standard, you’re put on a pedestal, the attention, and it’s almost like a drug like an addiction, and once you have that and that lifestyle, you can see certain tendencies in people are just it feeds and feeds and feeds.” Jon said of leaving the TV show amid his split from Kate, “I literally hung a sign on my gate saying, if any crew members show up, I’ll have you arrested for trespassing. They sued me for breach of contract. I pretty much bankrupted myself.

“But I did for moral reasons, obviously. I’ve spent $1.7 million in lawyer fees, from when TLC sued me and my divorce.” Jon claimed, “Kate on the other hand, TLC paid for her attorneys in the lawsuit and for her divorce. So I financed it by myself and she was financed by the network. I didn’t understand at first why. But now I understand why. All she wanted was legal custody to film my kids to sustain her lifestyle and their lifestyle. See, it gets all warped. That’s fame now, see? It just twists things around.” As fans know, Jon agreed to a 10-year gag order as part of the couple’s divorce and custody deal in 2009.

Now that the gag order has been lifted, Jon has said he wants to “set the record straight.” Kate has decided to stay quiet, not commenting on Jon’s interviews. But in an Instagram post last month, she showed followers her proud mama bear side, posting a photo of daughters Mady and Cara and writing in a caption, “I love these kids fiercely….Times have been so tough and so needlessly unfair for them.”

Admin (#108), and how about Mrs. Pot calling the kettle a rambler? From what I read, Jon spoke eloquently about the situation, and explained his feelings in a rational manner.
Then there's Word Salad McGee, who referenced Jon's son as plodding, plugging, and chugging along. He wasn't a GD locomotive, heifer. He was an 11-year-old boy you gave birth to, then gave away.

I don't know how my comment came up as anonymous, but 107 was from me. I've been having problems commenting lately, so I hope this goes through correctly.

The kids finally will have a public, loving, voice to speak out for them instead of all of the lies and deceit TFW has spewed. They all need this although they may not realize it now. Once again, from experience.

He's been demoted to "family members." I mean at least he's still a member of the family but good grief, it makes him sound like a second cousin twice removed.

Everyone who has firsthand knowledge about this issue should speak up about the dangers of fame, especially when it involves minors who can't speak for themselves. Good for him.

Telling Jon to shut up is like telling #Metoo to shut up.

Sad but true said...

If nothing else, what Jon has said about the $1.7 million he spent just on lawyers at the time of the divorce/TLC lawsuit, he and Kate jointly were probably worth at least $5 million at that time. Of course, Kate didn't have to spend anything on attorneys, nor did she have to pay the support that Jon paid over roughly two years, which was $22K per month, whereafter he was pretty much wiped out. Of course, we know that he had also put money aside for the kids' college funds (as Kate claimed she did as well), so $5 million might actually be a low estimate.

So it seems to me that Kate probably had over $3mm in the bank when they divorced, PLUS, with almost $500K in support from Jon over two years, she probably didn't have to touch much of that. Granted, there's the big house and the private school for 8. But as we know, NONE of those things were necessities. She could have just about retired (or worked at something a couple of shifts a week) by buying a more modest property and sending her kids to public schools. It would have been a VERY comfortable life by most people's standards.

The only real benefit to her "lifestyle," such as it is, was that she was able to keep the kids isolated and under a tight rein. Just what she needed for filming. And yes, of course, that's WHY she demanded sole legal custody of the kids; I'm surprised Jon didn't work that out at the start. He was outplayed by TLC's lawyers right from the get-go.

Has anyone watched Welcome to Plathville? The children are so sheltered and isolated. I think it's to the point that some of them will have a hard time functioning in the real world. The parents are also very controlling. They won't even let the kids eat any sugar except honey.

Olivia Plath (married to the oldest Ethan) talked about how hard it can be to be married to someone so sheltered on Instagram.

I have watched Welcome to Plathville. I found it pretty depressing. I disagree with sheltering your children to such a degree, but I also disagree with wife of their son. Of all the things she could introduce him to, alcohol and getting drunk seems to be what she encourages most. Why would you encourage someone who has never had a drink, to start drinking? She seems like a selfish little twat.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

FlimsyFlamsy, I so agree. Let Jon have his say and let's give him a BIG high-five!!!

foxy said...

I watched Plathville also for the first time today. For being so sheltered a couple of the girls dress a little provocative for being controlled in a religion so to speak. They wear heavy makeup also and 2 of them said they can hardly wait to leave. When you keep your kids so far away from everything you are asking for trouble once they get in the real world. I wonder what their goals in life are for their children. The daughter-in-law is of a strict faith also and once she got out there she really got out there. If they are kept out of the main stream how do they meet people and how did the eldest son meet a wife? That is another family I won't watch again.

BlueJay said...

Flat out I just think being pleasant just is not in Kate's character, and if it is? It' snot for very long. And more to the point? if it is at all it's just to suit her and HER own selfish needs. What can you do for me. Nothing at all of what a real give and take, support system of family or friendship is about period. It's all about her own self and selfish needs to be met and taken care of.

As hard as that is on me as a parent I'm coming around that's just what her own children are for even. So I can imagine come down the road here what her having grandchildren will be like. That's scary!

So with Thanksgiving coming up I wonder who in the world is going to be doing the cooking obviously not her.

I've thought of watch that show Welcome to Plathville but something just doesn't seem to set well with me so I haven't bothered. I mean people have right to be how they want but...doesn't putting it on a reality show completely contradict how they have lived their lives previously then? I don't know just seems like it's opening that door I suppose. Comes off as TLC goes looking for, excuse my words here...nice families who live slightly differently--who then goes and offers then a lot of money to then film them--but then brings in the "modern world" so the speak that they don't follow? I know what I'm trying to say but not sure it's coming across that way. It just seems like a really weird thing to do to put this on for a show.

And as far as Jon...Kate's been on every talk show from Joy Behar, Larry King Live, Dr. Oz as well, GMA, the Talk, others I can't even name spouting on and on about the divorce, after the divorce, filming, not filming, her son Collin to you name it. So why should Jon be any different with or without a gag order? It's their mess, their children I mean that's sad I can't image being a child going to school if their friends watch this mess having to hear about it but Kate has been all over the flipping place previously running her mouth rather happily in the past in regards to her ex husband that smirk I just wanted to slap her silly she needs to grow up. They're adults. Why this just never could have been handled privately I simply don't know. I do = money.

The source is apparently the wife of a lawyer in Arkansas who knows about it. Sounds credible. Also, it is no surprise in the slightest. He is a pedophile. He can't just stop. If he has figured out a way to not molest his own children (we all HOPE) he has to fill the void somehow, and apparently that was with child pornography. The human trafficking allegations ring true because essentially that's what child porn is, that's what they get you on. Not that you have a sex slave in your house like the movies.

The only thing that will stop a pedophile is jail.

Can you honestly say that you do not think any of his children will be affected by this? You really do not think this could drive the four still with Kate even FURTHER away from not only their father but their other two siblings, Hannah and Colin?

&&&&&

The problem is your argument cuts both ways. Does it not affect the children to NOT say anything, too? To let Kate control the narrative, put out episodes accusing "family members" of leaving her and putting on a pity party, and letting the narrative just stay the way it has been that this is all Collin and Hannah's fault?

It can be just as damaging to not come to the defense of your family as it is to say what's on your mind. It's a personal decision what is best for your family and it's hard to say what is best in the moment especially not having any clue how Collin and Hannah feel or what they need from Jon. But, if you google child abuse forums for adult survivors you will find over and over that any of them were just as affected if not MORE affected by the other parent, be it mom or dad, who didn't do enough, didn't speak up, didn't come to their defense. It's oddly as if for many people it's WORSE to be the person who didn't defend you than it is to actually be the abuser. We're just not in any position to say that this or that is what a recovering abused child needs.

Also from what I've been told off the blog, those four are so alienated from Jon and their siblings that any visitation has been a disaster and has been for years. It can't GET any worse. It is hard to believe sweet Aaden and Collin are not well behaved on visits but then they are probably just reacting to their own f-ed up situation.

http://fromberkshiretobuckingham.blogspot.com/2019/11/meghan-harrys-pr-strategy-that.html

I know you fancy yourself an expert, in everything, but this woman knows a helluva lot more than any of us about the BRF. Hard to believe, I know. But just maybe, someone knows something much better than even you do.

"Meghan's suggestion that the couple is just surviving not thriving, made while on tour in Africa where the two were visiting with some of the most downtrodden people on earth, left me speechless. I think it struck most people as similarly out-of-touch.
This interview was a big mis-step."

"The Sussexes can't emotionally manipulate their way to uniform public approval."

"The royals are unelected leaders in a free country; they are taxpayer funded/subsidized in a nation with a strong Republican (anti-monarchy in the U.K, NOT U.S. Republican) movement."

&&&

I don't understand your hostility. I've read her blog before although not lately, and it's a very good blog, she's written an extremely thoughtful, lengthy, fair piece about the situation (although, we all read the same stuff so I don't get your comment that she somehow knows so much more than anyone else)

You picked out bits and pieces from her extremely fair and well thought out article. An article she's not brave enough to even allow comments on. On a blog that's always been very pro Kate Middleton.

You conveniently left out several comments such as these:
-To be fair to her, she pursued Hollywood celebrity, not politics, and the type of fame you get in one arena can be very different from the type you get in the other.
-Meghan and Harry need to fire their PR people. (Implying this was not their fault but their PR team
-There are a lot of crazy people out there, a lot of nasty people, a lot of people who hate her just because they are jealous of her privileged existence, her beauty, her husband, her platform, and the list goes on.
-Although warm and friendly on walkabouts, there is always a slight barrier with the Cambridges.
-Harry seems to genuinely be in need of time away. I have heard reports his family is worried about him, and he does seem in a fragile place. Although painful, I think someone needs to remind Harry that Diana wasn't killed by the press. Letting go of that false narrative alone might help Harry find some peace. If he truly cannot look at a camera or hear a click and not suffer symptoms of trauma from his mother's death, he certainly needs to step away from the limelight and seek help. I wish him well in that struggle.

I think if everyone were able to have an honest discussion about this in the same respectful and thoughtful way she has, the nastiness would completely stop.

What are your thoughts on the Queen having to issue a statement that she is perfectly fine with Meghan and Harry going to the US for Christmas, she sees them all the time because they live so close, and that other royal family members spend the holidays with in-laws and not her ALL THE TIME. Does that seem rather sad to you just to try to ward off more nasty comments from the press about one's holiday plans?

Kate's remaining fans are outraged that Jon is finally speaking out, but where was their outrage when Kate trotted out the twins--then age 13--to bash Jon in a People magazine article and then on TV? That was when they clammed up on the Today show. Then again in 2016, when they were 15, she had them do another People interview where they called their relationship with him "toxic". Wasn't that harmful to them and to the other kids? I didn't see today's interview--although I'm hoping we get lots of details here--it sounds like he was very measured and not vindictive. And I don't believe for a second that he hasn't discussed this with Collin and Hannah. If I were Collin, who has been abused and manipulated and then thrown away by his mother--who made sure she got a paycheck for her story about sending him away--I would be relieved to finally have someone stand up for me and let the public know the truth of the situation instead of being labeled a violent, dangerous child who had to be removed for the safety of my siblings. His mother is a monster who will do anything, from cutting off family and friends to locking up one of her own children to breaking the law and defying a court order, to keep her face on TV. That is the person who is raising the other 4 kids. God help them.

Anyone who googled the Duggar rumors probably read the Radar Online article which said:

"Radar spoke with an FBI agent in Arkansas on Monday, Nov. 18, hours after the allegations began going viral online. According to the agent, the FBI in Arkansas also heard about the rumor, but confirmed to Radar they did not respond to a Duggar family member’s home or business over the weekend.

“We were not involved in any kind of law enforcement action,” the agent said of the swirling allegations. “I can confirm we were not there.”

Radar also reached Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Springdale Police Department, but they did not immediately respond with comments."

I'm as suspicious as everyone else about this family, but if these rumors are unfounded, I really feel badly for the family. If guilty he or they deserve the bad publicity and fallout, but if innocent of this rumor's allegations shame on whomever started it. Stories like this can and do ruin lives.

I just watched Jon on Dr. Oz. He speaks well and is very clean cut looking. He said Kate has NPD which we all know is true. The family is in counseling, he had to go to court to find out where Collin was even after he received the escape note. Kate would not let anyone know where he was. That is when he found out Collin was in a facility in Pittsburgh. He went 2 times a month to visit, Kate never did. Collin was on thorazine (wow) and gained a lot of weight while he was there. He said the other kids are more or less brainwashed with her lies and even though they are 15 they are on a maturity level of 12. They are isolated at the compound. Those 4 remaining hostages are really going to need therapy if they ever escape. This does not look good for Kate. He is such a horrid person. He said she wanted the divorce because he no longer wanted to film and TLC funded her divorce and legal fees because they were making big bucks on the series. Colleen is a nurse practitioner in mental health.

Information I hadn't seen:

"As for Hannah, Jon alleged that she was "mentally abused" while she lived with Kate."

"Hannah had had enough, she was always labeled the leader of the pack. She just got tired of being the leader of the pack and all that responsibility. She just wanted to be a kid," Jon claimed. "Kate targeted her. I mean, who puts all that pressure on to someone that's 12 years old? It's a lot."

"Many of Jon's allegations center around Collin, who, Jon claimed, Kate sent to a child and adolescent behavioral unit without his knowledge. Jon also alleged that his son was "caged" at the facility for three years where, he claimed, Kate only visited him three times."

There is NO way those kids are going to come out of this trainwreck without a ton of psyche problems, but at east the two with Jon are receiving the help they need. He's opened a can of worms now, so it won't be over. Wonder if Dr. Oz will give Kate an audience now?

It was a lot like we thought. Colin gained weight from meds. The kids were isolated. More information from Dr. Oz:

"Kate institutionalized him without a diagnosis and then created a diagnosis," he alleged. "I pulled him out of the institution. He was wrongfully institutionalized. He did not need to be in an institution. Just because he was a difficult child did not mean he needed to be sent away against my will, against my rights. I did not know where he went. It took me two and a half years to find him. It took me another year to get him out."

"Jon, how's that possible you did not know where your son was? You had custody over these children," Dr. Oz asked.
"I had physical custody and not legal at the time," Jon replied. "The only way I knew where Collin was is Collin wrote a letter and his roommate smuggled it out."
The supposed escape letter, hand-written in crayon, was flashed on the screen. Jon said he eventually got access to the special needs facility where he saw Collin for the first time in three years.
"He was different," Jon said. "He was all doped up. He weighed 75 pounds more than what you see now because he was tranquilized most of the time."

Jon Gosselin accuses Kate of 'mental abuse,' 'parent alienation': 'We don’t talk'

Jon Gosselin's interview with Dr. Oz aired Monday and he didn't hold back when discussing ex-wife, Kate Gosselin. Appearing on The Dr. Oz Show, the 42-year-old former reality star said there's no hope of co-parenting with Kate and accused her of mentally abusing their eight children:
"We don't have a relationship right now. We don't talk, nothing. It's very nothing," Jon said. "The only time I see my ex-wife is in court because we have exhausted all opportunities to co-parent. It's just never going to happen due to personality disorders and everything else."

As for the "personality disorders" dig, Jon accused Kate of having "a narcissistic personality disorder." (Yahoo Entertainment cannot confirm that diagnosis.)
"I think she tends to think more on her level selfishly instead of for others," he claimed.
Yahoo Entertainment reached out to both TLC and Kate Gosselin for comment on the various claims made by Jon in the interview but did not receive responses.

Dr. Oz asked why he has ruled out any possibility of co-parenting with Kate.
"Because my kids will be adults in two years," Jon explained. "I think once that mindset's set, now you're going to move more into a more therapeutic role. We all go to family therapy because I have to re-parent my kids because there is a lot of stuff that happened abuse-wise, mental and physical. Even though they're 15, they might be like 12 mentally."
"What was the abuse in your mind that hurt them the most?" Dr. Oz asked.
"The mental abuse, the parent alienation," he replied. "Just the putdowns. Isolation is a huge one. I make them join clubs and go to dances and football games and all this stuff."

Wow...how absolutely evil she was to Collin. We knew it was bad, but hearing Jon actually say it is heartbreaking. She tortured her own son out of spite. All she had to do was allow Jon to raise him. Instead, she locked him away to be drugged and alone for over 3 years. And a child that age...to gain 75 pounds that quickly and loose it even quicker is not healthy. He went from the birthday picture at the facility with Jon and Hannah, where he was heavy and drugged, to looking thin and hollowed eye at a car show a year later??? She really has no soul and is a complete loss cause as a human being. She is one of those very rare people who are not deserving of love. It means nothing to her.

Dr. Oz show reached out for comment to TLC and they did not respond (yet). Also they reached out for comment to Kate and she also did not respond.

What, is she too good to grace Dr. Oz with her disgusting "delusional ramblings" comment that she happily gave to her lackeys at People? She's a real piece of work.

I thought it was kind of Jon to give Kate the benefit of the doubt that she really wanted the pregnancy and the kids and fought hard to have them and that her belief system was intact BEFORE the show. There's no need to fuel rumors that she orchestrated the multiples and there's just no reason to imply she was born evil. This is something Kate physically cannot do, praise Jon where it is warranted.

He gave her credit where it was appropriate and called her out on her inappropriate actions.

Sorry for the tardy Dr Oz post but I made one so we can take our comments over there.
