Kate to star in TLC's 'Kate Plus Date' about dating

A post shared by Whitney Way Thore⚡️ (@whitneywaythore) on

Kate's last date, with businessman actor Vann, ended with a painfully awkward kiss.

In a brief blurb today, People reported that Kate is nervous and excited about her upcoming show. People revealed glaringly scant other details, like how many episodes will be made or when it will air.

Hi y'all! can't sleep right now so checking out the blog. i read People, did see the one page on The Former Mrs Jon Gosselin. still mystifies me, why anyone wants to watch this boring person do boring things.
so many very entertaining things on TV right now! including return of Trading Spaces on TLC! and upcoming Dancing With The Stars, Athletes edition! Survivor Ghost Island is terrific! new season of The Expanse on SyFy, it's not exactly Game of Thrones in Space, but that's a good intro, it's so much more than that, based on excellent novel series. Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon are always entertaining. return of Roseanne is amazing in how the ensemble works so well together!
so many good movies! Just saw Death of Stalin that is very funny, while very sobering, made me read up on the actual history. Steve Buscemi is amazing as Khrushchev.
it's spring, daffodils and azaleas are blooming, it's historic garden week in Virginia, and i hope spring has sprung wherever you are!

Hi Chef! Hi Joy!

Formerly - I've been watching Marsha Clark Investigates the First 48. It's really interesting. Last week it was about Caylee/Casey Anthony. Apparently computer forensics showed that someone had searched 'foolproof suffocation' on the Anthony's computer on the afternoon of the last day Caylee was ever home. For some reason, the first time they investigated the history of deleted searches, the program they were using had a glitch and it never showed up.

It turns my stomach to think about how Casey carried on partying and having the time of her life knowing full well her child was dead.

Insanely stupid questions and not digging anywhere near but the surface is a hallmark of the media today apparently. How refreshing this is! I'm watching the Casey Anthony one. It's excellent so far too. She is investigating this like a prosecutor too, looking for holes and tracking down how to plug them, and offering various expert opinions including her own to get to the bottom of issues like was that smell in the Anthony trunk a dead body? (verdict: YES)

AuntieAnn said...

I do too. Marsha does her homework. She's a real force when she wants answers. She's relatable and compassionate towards victims families. So far I've been glued to every episode.

A&E came up with another winner with this series.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I think her career speaks to who she is today. She's obviously smart as a whip, and she's been a defense attorney and a prosecutor, which I think gives one a much broader understanding of the criminal justice system having really seen it from all angles. OJ was not her first rodeo, in a slightly tedious connection to a topic frequently discussed here, deranged fans, do you know before OJ she was the prosecutor for the Rebecca Schaeffer murder by a fan?

Dmasy said...

Count me in -- Marcia Clark Investigates the First 48. I have watched all 4. Each one has contained information that was new to me (and most viewers, I suspect) In addition, there are actually new facts.

I like that each program is 2 hours long. The investigation is detailed and not rushed.

I remember watching that case on Dateline (?). I always think wouldn't a divorce be so much less complicated than murder? And less costly in the long run.

Dmasy said...

Auntie, I wonder similar thoughts. What hubris allows someone to believe they can really get away with murder?

Not only do these killers experience the evil that allows them to see another person as unnecessary and disposable, they seem to truly believe they can outsmart today's forensic sciences.

My husband teases me about my true crime interest. He has joked that his life is probably in danger. Actually, it is the opposite. I have read and heard enough to know that I would get caught and spend the rest of my life wearing orange!

I love my true crime shows! I'll have to check out Marcia Clark's new show--I didn't know anything about it. And I love Criminal Minds, although I will always miss Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin's character). He has always been my favorite. Must be our shared love of Audubon birds. Broke my heart when his character was killed off, years after he left the show.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm looking forward to Kate's new show. I'm not going to watch it, but I truly believe it's going to be an epic failure for her and for TLC, and the fallout will be very entertaining. Will entertainment shows discuss the dismal ratings? Will anyone publicly call out TLC for their stupidity in giving a proven ratings loser yet another chance? How will fans react to seeing her be something other than a put-upon mom/martyr? Will there be foot licking and excessive drinking? How many dates before she's officially a bigger ho than Jon? Will the twins stop speaking to her because she has a new man every month/week/day? And the fun of posting each week's drop in ratings is a rush. I fully intend to make a chart. This is going to be a hoot and half! The more dismal and embarrassing, the better, I say!

NJGal51 said...

Layla - I also miss the Jason Gideon character and enjoy watching on the weekends because they show the early episodes. I get my Mandy Patinkin fix by watching Homeland. Have you ever seen Yentl with Barbara Streisand? A very young Mandy Patinkin is the main male character.

Yes, I’m going to watch TFW’s new show. Sometimes you just can’t look away from the train wreck that is Kate Gosselin. And I agree, the more dismal and embarrassing the more fun it will be to watch.

Mine too Layla. I didn't watch much of CM after Mandy disappeared. I read that he left the show because of the violent nature and unceasing rape and murders in every episode. I can understand his reasoning...it is a very gruesome show.

As for Schmoopy's *cough* dating show, I highly doubt it will even materialize but we'll see. I think TLC will just end up relying on Kate Plus 8 as filler. She's sawdust.

The way she laid out the Casey Anthony computer timeline was brilliant. Hour by hour until you were like well of course that settles that. Had the jury heard THAT I'm not sure they would have agonized so much.

That terrorist (why is Canada refusing to call him a terrorist by the way?) is very, very lucky the cops didn't blow his brains out. Apparently while they were trying to arrest him instead of following directions he reached for an object, they have not said what it was, and pointed that object at the cops. But in a split second reaching for something and pointing it at the cops, most cops would have shot him dead and would have been well within their rights to do so. That's why so many of these cops have been rightly acquitted in the U.S., because you can't Monday morning quarterback and so many of these so called innocent victims were in fact not following their directions and reaching for things in pockets or holding objects they were instructed to drop. Objects that in a flash or only seeing a piece of it pocking out of a pocket or hand can look like a gun like cell phones and knives. Stupid.

The cops put themselves at tremendous, tremendous risk by not shooting the guy. This could have ended very differently, with a bunch of dead cops too. Frankly, I think they should have shot him, I think the situation absolutely warranted it. That they didn't is heroic I guess, but now we'll have to go through a trial.

An interesting connection to the U.S., I guess the guy was praising a similar attack in Santa Barbara with a car from a couple years ago? I had nearly forgotten about that terrorist attack and had to refresh my recollection.

Formerly Duped said...

It was a cellphone the assailant had in his pocket and apparently his premeditated motive was similar to that CA case and was directed at men who had gfs, and women who rejected his advances?? Not sure if he was known to the police- heard contradictory reports. A lot is unknown as yet. I think it was a terrorist attack as a dual citizen of Canada and US.

I'll have to check out Breaking Homicide. I'm a true-crime show junkie, but have been busy and distracted lately, so I've missed out on some good ones. Did you say you have a body buried in your backyard? I'd have nightmares about the cops finding it, too. Perhaps it's time to move it. There's lots of fields around there, so it shouldn't be hard to find a good spot (hee-hee).

? Everyone hates America, so it's not a surprise we are targets

&&&&

Everyone does not hate America. Only a small segment of the world "hates" America.

The vast majority of terrorist attacks over the last five years have actually occurred in the Middle East and Europe regions, not North America at all. What has occurred on our soil were mostly radical home grown nutjobs or unwise visa to immigrants.

This had nothing to do with Canada or the US and everything to do with a deranged, mentally ill and brainwashed guy. Still a terrorist, but he could have been found anywhere.

Yeah so, that's how cops get killed.

Mace him, taser him, tackle him, shoot him in the leg, or just flat out blow his brains out, I don't care. But do something ANYTHING so you don't just stand there like lambs to the slaughter. It's borderline dumb how that went down and thank God it happened to turn out ok for them.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I guess when political reasons are not behind an attack, the term is not used? Outcome is the same, sadly

&&&&&

Terrorism is defined as indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror among masses of people or fear to achieve a financial, political, religious or ideological aim. He had an aim, his hero was Elliot Rodger, who hated women, couples, and interracial couples. So he was anti-women and racist, at the very least. That's ideological. Done, terrorist. What are they so afraid of?

I cannot fathom how these people justify killing and injuring others just because they're all butthurt about something. Does he think this is going to make him more attractive to women? What has happened to us? People absolutely lack the ability to toughen up and deal with life's disappointments. When we were all growing up, people were bullied, people didn't fit in...and you just had to suck it up. We have lost the ability to suck it up and deal with disappointments, and that is truly frightening.

He is just about the right age to be raised as a trophy generation, coddled young man.

I think the more likely outcome of this generation is simply the inability to grow up, move out of the home hold a job and have their own life. In that case mommy and daddy will just keep supporting them. But if you add any kind of anger issues and mental illness into the mix then yeah you're gonna get outcomes like this.

So two things need to happen. Better mental health treatment and stop raising kids in a bubble, it's absolutely destroying them as adults.

Wasn't someone on here just talking about how much better Canada does at mental health treatment? To which I explained yes because they LOCK THEM UP. I guess this one slipped through.

No system is perfect, and I don't think we here in Canada think it is either. As for it being a terrorist act or not, I think they're just waiting to get all the facts before claiming it as so. It doesn't change the outcome whether it's terrorism or not.

Watching the video of the cop, he actually gets very close to the suspect at one point before apprehending him, and I think he can see he doesn't have a gun. Regardless, you and I not trained as cops, aren't in that situation, so I would never speculate what should or shouldn't have been done. It worked in this situation. A similar event happened in Edmonton last summer - same thing. No shots fired, suspect apprehended.

This guy had social issues, perhaps mild Asperger's, it's not known yet. That wouldn't require locking up . Who knows if he had any treatment but he did graduate from college.I guess it's the educational system who could be blamed for letting him slip through without intervention such as an IEP and school psych services to start. He now is said not to have been of interest to the police in any way. Many unanswered questions remain.

What's interesting to me is if the cops DID shoot, you can bet your bottom dollar they would be raked over the coals and investigated and gone over with a fine tooth comb whether they should have. So, they are given intense scrutiny when they do shoot but when they choose not to, possibly putting themselves and other citizens in grave danger, we should just respect that decision and they are lauded for not taking a life. It's hypocritical. Bottom line the cops should be praised for acting as they best sought fit in that moment under the laws of their country and their training, whether that is to shoot or not shoot, they should get the same praise as long as they did a good job in that situation. We should not be praising them for not shooting, that is very misguided. They are heroes either way. I praise them for doing a good job, either way, period.

I absolutely agree with you, cops are the ones there in that moment and the ones in the best position to make the call whether to shoot, and over and over our U.S. courts have said so, they have explained over and over that you don't judge this by hindsight, you judge this by the split second the cops had and what they saw in the split second. It does not matter if the object turned out to be a cell phone, if they were reaching for it as if drawing a gun, you can shoot. Yet, why have cops been blasted and raked through the coals when they DID make the call to shoot? Even in the face of video evidence showing exactly why they had good reason to shoot (erratic suspects, suspects refusing to follow orders, often reaching swiftly for objects that could and might be weapons and often are weapons, reaching swiftly into pockets as if to get a weapon, charging the cops, etc etc etc etc), they are still blasted and some even put on trial (though usually acquitted) Absent clear evidence to the contrary, of which most cases we do not have anything close to such a thing, we need to leave our cops alone to do their jobs protecting us, and themselves.

I agree. How do they know whether killing him would have been needless? Again, they are Monday morning quarterbacking, looking back at the situation in hindsight now that we know we didn't need to kill him. But, the cops did not know that in the moment. They had no idea how this would turn out or what he would do. For all we know it could have been 50-50 for the cops to blow him to bits and they just made a judgement call and rolled the dice. One tiny factor left or right could have caused them to shoot.

Also, I don't like the implication that other cops who have shot dead mass killers in the heat of the incident somehow did something needless. Bullshit, they made the call and saved lives.

Exactly. I know we're the kinder, gentler nation yada yada but I really hope this de-escalation protocol doesn't influence more hotheads who are having a bad day into thinking they can do something as horrific as this and come out alive. We're living in a different world where these attacks are randomly happening more often. Maybe it's my bittery bitchiness, but I don't think these monsters should be treated with kid gloves. This guy just took 10 lives away from their loved ones and injured so many others. Their lives will be forever changed.

That's the risk of smugly spreading it around a country has no guns or are very tough on guns, that's the risk of spreading it around your strategy is deescalation instead of "if you're killing people you're dead." The guy was a local boy, he knew what Canada's laws were, and he knew he could ram whoever he wanted knowing he wouldn't be stopped until the cops showed up which could take awhile, and even then they were just going to "deescalate". In fact he even shouted at the cops to shoot him! They still wouldn't. Europe has been trying that experiment, and it's a massive failure. Huge immigration problems, huge crime and violence problems, and terrorist attacks all the time.

I'm not sure what else people need to convince them that soft on these guys just gets good people killed.

It's also come out that most of the victims were women, that he was going straight for women. No question about it now he squarely falls within the definition of terrorism, which is NOT just political, but can also be ideological. When will Canada call their terrorist here a terrorist? He targeted a specific group of people, women. That IS ideological terrorism, which fits right in the definition of terrorism.

Gosselin’s former love, Dreamstime.com co-founder Jeff Prescott, exclusively told Radar that the then-couple’s show was in pre-production with TLC.

“She and I discussed pre-production on several occasions,” Prescott told Radar, adding that Gosselin and producers were thrilled with the prospect of a spinoff show. “I know that they were very excited about it because of the ratings potential.”

“I think she knew her show was drying up, and that a show with us would be more interesting.”

Prescott claimed one of the potential storylines he discussed with Gosselin, 43, were later used on a January 2016 episode of Kate Plus 8. On the show, Gosselin went on a helicopter ride over New York City with a man named Vann.

“I must say I laughed a little when I saw a clip of the show with her and her date doing everything that we had pre-planned,” the businessman told Radar. “They had to find a replacement at last minute. I’m sure he was just a producer’s friend.”

The dating show was first planned years ago, as we knew, Prescott was gonna be the date, as we knew. Then she basically stole all his ideas for the date and used it on Vann, the number 2. That's great. I'm sure Kate saw that as a big F-U to Prescott, stole your creative material and nothin' ya can do about it.

Although what was TLC smoking thinking this was gonna be some kind of ratings bonanza?

A threat was made to shoot up a school, the boy was identified and arrested and his home searched.

This, folks, is how we stop school shootings. If kids know every darn time they even think of hurting their classmates they will be arrested, this behavior may just stop or at least lessen.

I think after the show ended they were trying to transition into a spin off that wouldn't embattle them in a bunch of lawsuis with Jon but at this stage in the game it has to be nothing but some filler for empty slots so they don't have to show infomercials.

Now it’s coming together. Remember when Kate and Jeff were first spotted having dinner at a restaurant together?
The sad thing is I think Kate is incapable of having a meaningful, loving, long lasting relationship with anyone. She tried to use Jeff for her own personal gain and have him co star on the show.

“I must say I laughed a little when I saw a clip of the show with her and her date doing everything that we had pre-planned,” the businessman told Radar. “They had to find a replacement at last minute. I’m sure he was just a producer’s friend.”
Come to think of it, this makes a lot more sense. Who really knows if Vann was truly a friend of Deanna. And they tried to pass this as a storyline about a friend helping a friend find true love. Yeah sure.

Can you think of anyone she hasn't used starting with her own kids? After she's got them in her web, if things are going according to her plan or if they don't do as she wants, they're disposed of. Millionaire Man probably knew he was next, decided to ditch her first (for a change) and then spill the beans to Radar when the time was right. I think I like this guy.

Be still my heart, Marcia has a companion piece PODCAST to each of her First 48 episodes! They're each about 40 minutes long. I've only listened to a few minutes but it appear to be some information from the episode and more commentary from her beyond the episode. Welp, there goes my commute.

I really think she sees most people as tools, as means to an end. Jon was basically her sperm donor, Beth her connection to the high life and to have a rich friend, Jodi and Ashley her free childcare, her NYC crew is basically there for the free hair, makeup and lunch dates.

All these people have offered her real true human love and friendship but it's not really what she was after from them. Most people wise up to it and most people are not okay with something so superficial and meaningless. Jeff was just another one who quickly realized he was not okay with it, as would be normal and expected of the recipient in such a thing.

Admin (#82), if you start tweeting in rhyme to Marcia, I think we may have to stage an intervention.

It was so incredibly revealing when TFW said she was estranged from her parents because "they didn't know how to help us." Who in the world views the sacred parent/child relationship in such transactional terms?

It's tit for tat for Kate. She had multiples, the tit, the parents are supposed to help, the tat.

And, even giving her all the benefit of the doubt that they did not help her somehow, frankly I've known lots of friends who have reported grandparents are unable to help much, often due to age and failing health, but sometimes just because they won't for whatever reason. I've never heard a single one be bitter about it. Only just, I wish their health was better or I wish I had had kids a bit younger so they could enjoy the kids more and be more involved. They were supposed to be the childcare plan but that hasn't worked out. They see it as a sad thing, not something to resent for goodness sake.

Last night, Marcia's investigation of Rebecca Zahau's death was a real head-shaker. How could the police call it a suicide? Who ties ropes around their ankles and wrists behind their backs, stuffs a shirt in their mouth and jumps off the balcony to hang themselves? It's ridiculous to believe she wasn't murdered.

That's a somewhat local story to me and last week I was listening to a podcast on it. I have a somewhat out there theory that she may have been responsible for Max's death. He's a somewhat old enough boy that it would be highly unusual and unlikely for him to take a fall like this. He wasn't a toddler. She made a statement she didn't feel responsible for his death, which I find odd, since I would certainly feel responsible for any child in my care who falls like this even purely accidentally. At least initially and at least not until I got a lot of therapy. The behavior and statements of the Clapton family and their nanny ring more consistent to me about an accidental fall. A lot of unanswered questions in this one. Her family is pretty evident the message she left and the tying up are just out there bizarre, just not her at all.

Yes the police have shown you CAN tie yourself up like that, but when I watched the video I was like, huh, I wouldn't have been able to figure that one out without a youtube tutorial. But it's hard to see how it's someone else since everyone else has tight alibis.

I seem to remember Jeff Prescott bailing on production literally days before the shoot was to begin. He decided he didn't want the publicity/notoriety. I don't think the producers stole Jeff's ideas so much as the limo, helicopter, film crew, etc. were already committed over the Labor Day holiday and they really needed a quick substitute.

Of course, the backstory Kate had been working so diligently on (the photographed dinner with Jeff, the following of them to the casino later, the planted tabloid stories, the denial anything was going on other than a non-profit business discussion) had to be scrapped. I have no doubt she was intending to say something along the lines of "We never anticipated getting so close, but it happened anyway. We'll see where this takes us over the next eight episodes."

I guess once the child neglect allegations related to Jeff's divorce started getting dug up and reported he thought it might be better to protect his family and just get the heck out. One can only wish Kate had the same desire to protect her kids' privacy.

Jeff's withdrawal turned it into nothing more than a generic blind date which went over like a lead balloon with the audience. You would think TLC would have learned their lesson.

Well, Derick Dillard (a/k/a Mr. Jill Duggar) is off on another homophobic tirade. He called Nate Berkus' new TLC show with his husband and 2 kids "a travesty of family." This from a man whose brother-in-law diddled 4 of his little sisters, and seems to be A-OK with Derick. He's such a hateful little snot.

What is with that guy? What is he going around picking fights like this?!

And yeah, travesty? His in-laws could not protect their own daughters from the child molester in the family! I think I'm going to rank child molestation as a bit more of a travesty than a nice gay couple living life raising kids and not bothering anybody else.

It seems that all is not well in the Dillard household. He also has a video of Michelle being "abusive" to one of the younger girls. It's frightening how quickly her demeanor changes when she realizes she's being filmed.

It also appears that Jill is going out to work. Gasp! I'm all for developing your interests, taking classes, etc. but I think she is asking for trouble marketing herself as a certified midwife.
