I thought that those who followed the Dionne quints may be interested in the above. It is sad in so many ways especially after they had been exploited by their family and by the government at the time. To end one's days in poverty, also exploited by one's own son, is so tragic. Knowing Kate, she SOLD the chickens to the farmer neighbor. Without Collin, she had no interest in keeping them. I believe she can keep her farm discount by still leasing part of her acreage to the farmer neighbor. I can't recall what the situation was, but I remember he uses her land for some purpose.

Amazing isn't it that Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey could rear 8 children and well without a TV show. They said no from the get go and their family is obviously respected and the kids respect and love each other. Bobbi stayed home to take care of them and Kenny went back to work after a year. They did have help for a short period of time, have 2 special needs kids who were treated like everyone else in the family and are doing quite well. Granted they were given a larger home and a van which they desperately needed for the family, but they never forgot to say thank you to their community and even now they said they had a lot of help from volunteers. They prove that it can be done. I am one of 12, and it can be done.
While it's certainly a nice thing to do, I do not *expect* men to open doors for me because I'm female. If I'm first to a door, I hold it for others regardless of gender.

Yeah, the lack of promotion for the show is kind of shocking. TLC paid a lot of money to film this season, so you'd think they would try to recoup as much of their investment as possible. But they don't seem to care. I have seen back-to-back ads for Outdaughtered and LPBW, but then nothing for the show that comes on right after them--K+8.
TLC has to be done with her. There is simply no other explanation for this. Even Kate seems to realize it's over because she isn't really trying, either.
There was a thing in People magazine that makes you wonder. When the boys were asked if they wanted the show to continue (they said yes because they wanted to go bungee jumping). If the show wasn't on the chopping block, the why bother to ask that question? Wouldn't everyone just assume the show was going to continue? It reminded me of all the times Kate was asked if she wanted another show after the cancellation. Of course she did, but she took every opportunity to put it out there.
Layla (#29), promoting the show is not even a matter of money for TLC. Heck, they can approve an intern to send a few tweets out to generate interest, and not spend a dime. But they just seem to be over it. That said, I will not get my hopes up that this means the end for her, and the beginning of a life free from filming for the G kids, because I've been wrong too many times.

When you’ve got sextuplets, you have to get creative about planning birthday parties.
In an exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday’s episode of Kate Plus 8, Kate Gosselin arranges an elaborate scavenger hunt to celebrate her sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Leah and Joel’s 12th birthday — and of course, it doesn’t go off without a few small hiccups.
“The morning of the party, the kids’ energy was through the roof,” says Gosselin, 41, in the clip. “I was still worried down to the last minute if everything would make sense and work. They were just chomping at the bit to get going and weren’t even really listening to my instructions.”
The mother of eight then shepherds the group of kids into the driveway to explain how the day would be going down
“Attention! This is important,” she says, “Here’s the deal. The idea is, I am going to give you … oh dear. I have a little problem.”
“I go to give them their first clue and I realize sitting in front of me is the second clue … that I forgot to plant,” she later tells the camera sheepishly. “And [it] was like that hot-cold panic — I was like: ‘Oh my gosh. What an idiot.’ ”
The TLC star quickly shuffles all the kids into the backyard before sneaking away to plant the second clue — then the group reconvenes “as if nothing had ever happened!”
“Okay, come along!” she says, gathering the kids back towards the driveway.
“Did you fix your little problem?” asks daughter Hannah.
“There was no problem in the end!” Gosselin says. “That’s the funny part about it.”
But Hannah knows her mom too well.
“I’m sure there wasn’t,” she replies, eyebrows raised.

They've sent out three tweets in the last few hours about the Busbys. Only one, 4+ hours ago, about Kate, and one about the Roloffs. And a slew over the last few days about those cupcake ladies---are they still on the air?
Not surprisingly, one of the Busby tweets links to People.com as well. I stopped buying People decades ago, but if I hadn't, I would now. How do show recaps count as journalism? You can't even call them "reviews," they are out-and-out advertisements.

I brought this up the other day. First, a "where are they now?" story published last week about a family you had a cover story on three months ago? And second, in addition to your point, the boys' comment shows without a doubt that she has made clear you won't get to do fun things if you don't film. Period.

OMG I almost fell asleep watching that clip. I couldn't help but wonder what the timing was in relation to Hannah's great escape. Also, one episode then C is gone? Strengthens my speculation that they could not film with him because he was too belligerent or too sedated so she sent him away. OR the first episode got filmed, Kate was yelling at C to cooperate, H ran away, CPS got involved and removed C.

Those 6 (or 5) kids woke up knowing they had to WORK that day, and that everything they said and did would be filmed. That's not a birthday party -- it's a freaking sideshow.

I thought that those who followed the Dionne quints may be interested in the above. It is sad in so many ways especially after they had been exploited by their family and by the government at the time. To end one's days in poverty, also exploited by one's own son, is so tragic. Amazing isn't it that Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey could rear 8 children and well without a TV show. They said no from the get go and their family is obviously respected and the kids respect and love each other. Bobbi stayed home to take care of them and Kenny went back to work after a year. They did have help for a short period of time, have 2 special needs kids who were treated like everyone else in the family and are doing quite well. Granted they were given a larger home and a van which they desperately needed for the family, but they never forgot to say thank you to their community and even now they said they had a lot of help from volunteers. They prove that it can be done. I am one of 12, and it can be done.
While it's certainly a nice thing to do, I do not *expect* men to open doors for me because I'm female. If I'm first to a door, I hold it for others regardless of gender.

Not that they should run around life constantly butting in front of people to hold the door open for all women. At the very least though everyone should hold the door from behind if someone is coming up behind you.

Yeah, the lack of promotion for the show is kind of shocking. TLC paid a lot of money to film this season, so you'd think they would try to recoup as much of their investment as possible. But they don't seem to care. I have seen back-to-back ads for Outdaughtered and LPBW, but then nothing for the show that comes on right after them--K+8.
TLC has to be done with her. There is simply no other explanation for this. Even Kate seems to realize it's over because she isn't really trying, either.
There was a thing in People magazine that makes you wonder. When the boys were asked if they wanted the show to continue (they said yes because they wanted to go bungee jumping). If the show wasn't on the chopping block, the why bother to ask that question? Wouldn't everyone just assume the show was going to continue? It reminded me of all the times Kate was asked if she wanted another show after the cancellation. Of course she did, but she took every opportunity to put it out there.
Layla (#29), promoting the show is not even a matter of money for TLC. Heck, they can approve an intern to send a few tweets out to generate interest, and not spend a dime.
But they just seem to be over it. That said, I will not get my hopes up that this means the end for her, and the beginning of a life free from filming for the G kids, because I've been wrong too many times.
Well, she's on Twitter now, LOL. Someone here said recently that TLC is doing a show that has People on the air, or something? I suppose this is why People is now doing the promo for Kate? Is TLC losing its marketing department and just subcontracting it out to People mag? What a racket.

When you’ve got sextuplets, you have to get creative about planning birthday parties.
In an exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday’s episode of Kate Plus 8, Kate Gosselin arranges an elaborate scavenger hunt to celebrate her sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Leah and Joel’s 12th birthday — and of course, it doesn’t go off without a few small hiccups.
“The morning of the party, the kids’ energy was through the roof,” says Gosselin, 41, in the clip. “I was still worried down to the last minute if everything would make sense and work. They were just chomping at the bit to get going and weren’t even really listening to my instructions.”
The mother of eight then shepherds the group of kids into the driveway to explain how the day would be going down
“Attention! This is important,” she says, “Here’s the deal. The idea is, I am going to give you … oh dear. I have a little problem.”
“I go to give them their first clue and I realize sitting in front of me is the second clue … that I forgot to plant,” she later tells the camera sheepishly. “And [it] was like that hot-cold panic — I was like: ‘Oh my gosh. What an idiot.’ ”
The TLC star quickly shuffles all the kids into the backyard before sneaking away to plant the second clue — then the group reconvenes “as if nothing had ever happened!”
“Okay, come along!” she says, gathering the kids back towards the driveway.
“Did you fix your little problem?” asks daughter Hannah.
“There was no problem in the end!” Gosselin says. “That’s the funny part about it.”
But Hannah knows her mom too well.
“I’m sure there wasn’t,” she replies, eyebrows raised.

I brought this up the other day. First, a "where are they now?" story published last week about a family you had a cover story on three months ago? And second, in addition to your point, the boys' comment shows without a doubt that she has made clear you won't get to do fun things if you don't film. Period.

Also, you can tell there's a significant time lapse between filming and making the kids do couch interviews. One girl has a cast on her arm during the treasure hunt, then it's gone for the couch interview.

I don't think party themes are necessarily "babyish". But they clearly could've planned something themselves.

OMG I almost fell asleep watching that clip. I couldn't help but wonder what the timing was in relation to Hannah's great escape. Also, one episode then C is gone? Strengthens my speculation that they could not film with him because he was too belligerent or too sedated so she sent him away. OR the first episode got filmed, Kate was yelling at C to cooperate, H ran away, CPS got involved and removed C.
In the People article, TFW says, “The morning of the party, the kids’ energy was through the roof." But we need to keep in mind this was not an ordinary birthday celebration. Those 6 (or 5) kids woke up knowing they had to WORK that day, and that everything they said and did would be filmed. That's not a birthday party -- it's a freaking sideshow.
I wonder if TFW has continued the forever tradition of singing Happy Birthday to each tup individually? She seemed so proud of herself for thinking that up when they were tiny. Perhaps now she only sings it 4X -- one for each girl, and a group one for the boys.

Yep, tonight's episode and the puppies are her best chance to get over a million. Especially tonight's show. People who watched the tups grow up will want to see their birthday, even if it is on at 10pm. If they don't tune in, then the show has lost its appeal. It will be interesting to see the ratings tomorrow.

I'm curious what the process is with these filmed parties. Does TLC present TFW with a bunch of options, and then she picks one, and they do all the prep? I don't care if she tells a story about waking up with the idea, and spending 40 hours on the details. I don't believe a word she says.
And are the kids just told what they're going to do for their party? Six kids, with 6 different personalities, and likes and dislikes, are committed to one idea because a TV network says so? Doesn't sound very party-ish to me.

So it was tough for the CREW, which was split. How the hell was it for the family? This stuff is truly insane. Imagine how the Gosselin kids must feel after all these years and all those long long days of crap.
With regards to the themed birthday party--when the kids turned 10, didn't they want to go rollerblading? And Kate shot that idea down in favor of a stupid carnival. So it looks like the kids have been over the themed party thing for years now.
