Admin (#198), I think that officer meant to say TFW never "posed" a significant threat, not "opposed" one.

If that's the case, my, we sure have lowered the bar for TFW. As long as shots weren't fired in the vicinity, it's all sunshine and lollipops at G Manor?

#OOPS is right. "Opposed" a significant threat? "Posed a threat" is a phrase used in reports all the time and I doubt a cop would get it wrong. But maybe as Admin said it was the wife of a cop, or maybe a meter maid ( didn't we have one of those post when she "witnessed" the kids on the stairs in Philly).

NJGal51 said...

I hit post too soon....I wanted to finish by saying that if she really does work as an officer (dispatcher, whatever), she probably shouldn't be posting things like that on Twitter.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Cops statements usually come from a spokesperson. If individual cops say something it's because their station gave them permission to. I've never seen an individual cop go on a personal twitter account and just start speaking like that.

What's more, no cop would defend someone like that knowing there is a police report out there that describes very erratic behavior. At best, they would say no comment. Cops time and time again have gotten too close to people who have ended up causing serious problems (John Dupont). They know better, now.

What a lame attempt to pose as an insider.

Sad but true said...

So the one who tweeted with Em is back on Twitter. I can't really believe this comment, what a thing to say when we don't know what happened. Based on what we know of him, it's inconceivable to me that his problems involve killing innocent animals.

Yes, usually a judge can order a psyche eval. And usually, a parent can't even object to it. If it's ordered, they have to do it.

They aren't always ordered just because someone is acting crazy. Sometimes they're ordered on the whole family when a family is in turmoil, just to try to identify where the family is struggling emotionally and what services would best help serve them. It may very well come out no one has a mental health condition, but that therapy, or in home parenting instruction, etc., would help. For that reason alone the whole family should have a psyche eval done, including Jon and the kids.

Layla said...

Admin (190)

Yes, Milo places all the blame for Collin's issues on Collin. Which is strange since she always praises Kate for having great kids, and says that is a reflection of her. When Kate said they were doing great "across the board"' Milo said it was because of Kate' parenting. When Kate said they were all at the top of their class at school, it was a reflection of Kate's parenting. But when a child has behavioral issues, it's the kid's fault. Hypocrite!

Maybe the person who claims to be a police officer on twitter means that Kate never OPPOSED a significant threat because Jon never POSED a significant threat in the first place.

I saw a copy of the latest People magazine last night, and who was on the cover, in the upper right corner? Kate. There were a couple pages with pics from when the kids were little, and a few pics from the recent photo shoot. Not much text. It was a "Ten Years Later" thing.

I guess since TLC is not promoting the show, Kate hit up her pal Kate Coyne to do it. The number of pictures and articles they have been doing on the Gs lately is insane.

Layla said...

Isn't EM the one who spent time with the Gs at their house? She told someone that she helped give the kids their behavioral meds and all the fans ganged up on her. I guess for daring to suggest (publicly) that the kids weren't perfect and some needed behavioral meds. The fans always pictured the Gs as a perfect, happy family and were enraged at anyone who suggested otherwise. Turns out--EM was right, but the other fans will never forgive her for bursting their bubble.

And this really goes all back to Kate. I'm not surprised some people take it too far when discussing Collin. I would expect that to happen. And that goes back on whoever disclosed this information to the masses in the first place. That's Kate. How can you talk about this and not expect people to say such things? It's a no brainer.

There was no reason to talk about this. It's no one's business where he is, she is under no obligation to explain his absence. If you think speculation will be too much if you just never say anything, then you don't film when he's not home. It's as simple as that. She did not put him first whatsoever when deciding to talk about this, as is her M.O.

That's pretty amazing she would tweet out her County number, whatever that is. She could just be making that up to look official.

Their police web site says they field 40,000 calls a year. Would one police officer necessarily be aware of every interaction a specific member of the community has, much less calls that may have gone to other police forces?

Again, I'm not sure how a police officer could say she doesn't cause them problems when clearly, she has. I'm also not sure why a police force would allow someone to make statements on behalf of the department on a personal social media account. At the very least, it's very unprofessional.

Also where I've ever been sheriffs are responsible for the county, and police's jurisdiction are their individual towns or cities in the county. Wherever there isn't a police station in a town or small city, the sheriffs pick up the area.

In PA the State Police are responsible where there is not a local department. The County Sherrifs are basically court guards, transporters, warrant servers.

How is this any different than you making claims about how often celebrities are reported to DCFS? DCFS receives over 150,000 referrals each year. Would one lawyer know about all 150,000 referrals? (That's a rhetorical question, since the answer clearly is NO.)

&&&

You're missing the point. Kate made the point that she is a celeb and therefore targeted by CPS. Utter nonsense, that does not happen. If anything, celebs are treated very carefully and given too much of the benefit of the doubt. As for how would someone know about celebs, well, when they are all sent to the sensitive case unit, which is just one small office in the entire county, and you know people who work directly in that unit, yes it's very plausible that many people, including myself, are very aware how many celeb cases we get (very few) and don't get. We don't get any more celeb cases than we do from parents working any other profession. No more, no less than average. You would be shocked at the celeb who is currently in the system and what they did to their kids, who has managed to keep this case out of the press--it has to be pretty bad to get involved, and this without a doubt warranted involvement. But, it's just not the norm.

I'm not aware of Lancaster, Berks, whatever, having a sensitive case unit for celebs. With only a couple celebs there, that would be quite a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Law enforcement/legal is a small community and it's possible she knows cops in various divisions to have a sense for what trouble Kate is or is not causing. It's amazing how much inside information that flutters around this community and how much I tend to hear about various things happening in the community before it's necessarily public, most of it reliable--so I tend to believe she MIGHT hear something along these lines. But, she didn't say she got her information because she knew people or had just "heard".

I always got the sense corrections officers were a little jealous of real cops and some really want to be a real cop. I also thought that many cops look down on corrections officers. Not that they should, corrections is an important, dangerous, upstanding career. But such behavior (I know this or that) can be an indication that she really wishes she were a real cop who does have direct access to this info, and not just stuck in a jail hallway working graveyard hearing information through the grapevine.

In any case, it's a moot point anyway. We have the actual police reports. I can judge for myself whether Kate is a menace to her community. I really don't care about the opinion of a correction's officer.

Correction's Officers ARE NOT jealous of "real cops". It's a different career choice. Believe me. They are put in just as many if not more dangerous situations They are not armed, where as an inmate may have several weapons on them. When the alarm sounds to assist another officer, they do not know what kind of situation they are facing. Many female corrections officers work in hard core male prisons It is not an easy job. Can be very hard on a person. Corrections officers can make a lot more money than cops too. Money is not always a reason to stay in a job. I know someone that "froze" during an alarm, and quit, the job wasn't for them.

Please don't do that. They have better things to do. Still, the fact that she doesn't live right near Kate doesn't mean she hasn't heard or otherwise gotten some inside information. One can obtain information about Kate from anywhere in the country, not just locally, if one is in the right place at the right time.

But her information is Kate has not caused significant threats for law enforcement. We have police reports which show exactly what problems she has caused or not caused. A corrections officer/preschool teacher's opinion about Kate based on the info they may have, is irrelevant.

I wouldn't interfere with anyone on the job. This person is a friend of mine, with whom I speak all the time, not a prison guard, warden, corrections officer, etc., but one who would know the identity of this person. But in the whole scheme of things, you have to take what the alleged officer tweets with the proverbial grain of salt.

The tweeting local officer appears to be a bit on the sneaky side, one who wants attention.

BY PEOPLESTAFF225

Season coming in January? Has TLC changed the schedule again? Or did they just get it terribly wrong? And why on earth do we need an "update" on where they are now when you just published a cover story barely 12 weeks ago? The photos are all from that shoot.

In the photos of everyone, Aaden and Joel are together (all the girls have separate photos, natch). One of them says that he hopes the show continues so he can go bungee jumping. So there it is: These kids absolutely know that without the show, they will not be going anywhere, let alone bungee jumping. What a PoS mother they have.

Tizzie (#58), imagine TFW being a role model for anything? Except for what NOT to do?

As far as admiring TFW for keeping strict schedules, I guess that fan doesn't realize that when the kids are filming, all routines are scattered to the 4 winds while TLC calls the shots. So for 10 years, C's needs have taken a back seat to those of a TV network.
What's best for him didn't matter to his mother, as long as she continued to ride the reality TV gravy train.

Em's trip with the Gosselins was the summer of 2014 (the New England "adventure"). So have the chickens been gone for over 2 years? What a strange story.

I think the chickens are only gone because Collin was the main caretaker of them. I watched the latest special on demand and A and J were taking Styrofoam egg crates from a downstairs fridge. Now those two boys make lunch for everyone. The girls place their orders on post-its the night before. I think it's vicious for such a rumor to be started about Collin with no basis. The chickens have gone to Forrest or elsewhere IMO. Collin was on the show but appeared twitchy and very flat of affect.I guess it was just months before he too was gone.

I agree that the chickens have gone to Forrest or some other farmer friend because C was their main caretaker and no one else wanted to do it. I really think that rather than just the vague statement that the chickens are gone TFW should have said something like "we decided to rehome them because they got to be too much work and with the kids' schedules we just couldn't keep up with them." Of course there's always the possibility that the great chicken departure will be part of an episode.

A different perspective on TFW's statement about 'no more chickens':
It's possible she meant she's not added to the chicken count, nor replaced any that died. As in, we still have the chickens, we just haven't gotten any more. Maybe? lol

Yes, it looks like the 10-year thing was supposed to be a special, and the actual season starts on Tuesday. Hard to tell since TLC is practically ignoring the fact that the show exists. So there will be 3 trips, 2 birthdays, and new puppies. Throw in some shopping and another looking back episode, and that's it. Same as every other season except for the puppies. Snore.

Em likes older women, for some strange reason. As for being close with Carnie, I doubt it. I've known Carnie for years, and I wouldn't believe that Emily is close to her. She may admire her, fancy herself good friends, but let's just say that most times these celebrity friendships are pretty much one-sided. Shades of Gladys.

I just heard the girls (Wendy and Carnie) on the radio with "Hey Santa!" and it made me think of Emily and Kate and that whole fiasco with Cows. I can't believe that she actually trusted that person, and failed to check out her tweets, profile and such. Of course, we really don't know if all of that occurred, or if it was faked by Cows.

It's weird, I saw the very same thing with the celeb I worked for and about three or four fans. These fans really believed they had a close friendship, and in their defense, celeb encouraged it. Calling them out by name in thank you speeches, sending personal notes, etc. Celeb was just using them to do free things. For the longest time a fan ran the official web site, for free, which I guess would be unheard of these days. Another fan would take all the family photographs, since photography was her hobby--that also would have costs, over the years, thousands of dollars to pay a professional. They also relied on fans to organize various meet and greet events, things that you would have to spend thousands of dollars on to pay a party organizer. It bothered me, I felt like they were being taken advantage of. One of them I quite liked, she was moderately disabled, and we pretty much became friends. But I also saw a side of her that was very needy and thus very apt to being sucked in.

Behind closed doors, I heard people say those fans were strange and the kids were never close to them no matter how much the fans may have wanted that. It seemed almost cruel to be so nice to their face but then turn around and bash them, then use them. Ugh, and I know for a fact it's still going on and even worse.

The thing about Em and finagling the babysitting that really struck me? Yeah, that totally happens and has happened. Celebs really are this dumb, and really do sometimes just pull fans out of the woodworks, no background checks, no vetting, nothing, and tap them to do things. Like how this one fan ended up devoting god knows how many unpaid hours running an official web site.

It's a right place right time kind of thing. And one thing I've noticed about rich people is some of them are so cheap they will risk personal safety, like allowing a fan you barely know around your kids, if it's free.

I just watched the program On Demand and made the following observations:

1) Why did Kate have to ask on FILM who was going to Jon's? Then she said she needed to know because she needed to make a Dr. appt. What difference would it make? She still would have had to gone to the school to pick-up up Alexis and the twins. She did that solely for the cameras. And one day her kids will realize this.

2) It was telling that Aaden and Joel both admitted on film that they don't get as much attention as the girls. This was said when they were packing lunches. Then on the couch the boys made the comment that the girls needed to show respect to their Mother and were always arguing. It is all very telling and verifies what we have all thought. And then Kate admits again that her kids all argue as soon as this come home from school. Why all the turmoil in that house? It is because of Kate and what she models for them. Another thing she filmed that is not in her regular routine is grocery shopping with them. And $1,300 is greedy on her part. No doubt TLC picked up the bill. Her basement is stockpiled with goods.

3) And what she did on film that morning was not her normal routine. She even admitted it. She portrayed getting up at 6am and she was up before all the kids. Yet she admits she really doesn't get up until 6:15 or later and the kids have to knock on her door to get her up. Then she is back in the kitchen after the morning drop off cooking dinner and doing laundry. Bull again...she states that she usually cooks in the afternoon and sometimes goes back to bed. She admits she does laundry on Sundays and Mondays. Why Sundays--she should be in church and relaxing with her family. But no she does chores on Sunday when she has over 40 hours to do them when the kids are in school. She said during the school day she is always playing beat the clock. BULLSHIT! She admits her kids help her prep, cook and clean the kitchen. So why she is always so swamped in household chores. She isn't. And when they were finished dinner, a girl with a very bushy ponytail was loading the dishwasher. So she has help that she is not acknowledging.

4) She stated Joel and Aaden got up at 5am to use the one laptop. Why not the girls? And why only one laptop? The woman is a freaking multi-millionaire. And somebody else on this board mentioned that the girls had more computer time than the boys.

5) When she mentioned her divorce she said, "It was just one of those changes that life changes". I swear the woman cannot speak. And to describe your divorce like that is so telling.

6) Her hair is so yucky and her nails are more yucky. Get is cut to the shoulders and take out the extensions. And get rid of those french fake nails. Both are outdated.

7) At dinner one of the 12 year old tups asks if they ate enough dinner to get dessert as she shows her plate to her Mother for inspection. Really? And Collin's left shoulder jerked three times very noticeably and then he was fighting with Alexis at the table. And when they were eating dessert he was banished from the kitchen.

8) It was heartbreaking the way she boasted and talked about all her kids except for Collin. She made a snide remark that he is definitely not layed back (or something like that) anymore. No doubt he will notice this and feel badly about it.

9)And why does the world need to know Joel felt good enough was good enough and Kate had to give him the "talk" that it wasn't enough. And Kate asking her 11 year old how badly he wants to succeed in life and telling him it starts with him helping her finish the igloo.

She's so stupid. You don't make any doctor's appointments during Jon's visitation time because you are to bring ALL the children to his visits. It's as simple as that. What a lame excuse to bring up visitation.

Yes and the other part of it is apparently the adults, and frankly that includes the nanny, are not laying down the law. Telling them enough with the bickering and fighting, enough. And if it continues, BOTH parties who are fighting lose privileges and/or are sent to their rooms. It'll probably take weeks to end a very bad habit, but it will end once a 12 year old decides they'd actually like to use the cell phone that they have.

Bickering IS a bad habit, and many people will fall into it if they don't catch themselves. There must be so much stress in that house from the constant negativity.

Is that right? Yeah, it didn't end well for Selena either.

I kinda-sorta get it. I guess they think, well I want someone who really loves me and gets me to be in my inner circle. Except the very fact that a grown adult has gone that deep into celeb-worship should be a HUGE red flag.

I really think in my case though it was mostly about getting work done for free or cheap. They seriously were the cheapest person I have ever met. Comes from being raised by the WW2 generation who did without so much I guess, I don't know. It was really one of those things where if you didn't make a big point of asking to get paid every Friday, no one was going to cut you a check and you'd never see the money. It got obnoxious. And a fan sure as hell was never getting paid, not one red cent.

Another danger about letting fans into your inner circle is the fans all talk to each other now, and when one fan perceives that another fan is getting special treatment, it just causes huge conflicts. It's really only a matter of time before someone else gets hurt, again. If not Kate, or Bethany, somebody else. You just can't interact with fans like this without playing with fire.

This is not a houseful of toddlers anymore. In 6 months, there will be 7 teenagers under that roof, along with a crazy mom, the
not-a-nanny and assorted household helpers, 3 dogs, and the entire TLC production crew. And the kids are supposed to be just blithely getting on with their everyday activities?

They may not be ready to blame their mother for the stress in that household, and having to put their own activities on hold for filming. But arguing and acting out could be their way of processing it all.

Of course there are rumors about Colin on Twitter now. Where he is, what he's doing, why he left. Some of the rumors get mean because some fans are crazy. But it's 99% Kate's fault. Those kids fight because Kate taught them to fight. She berated Jon, various relatives, and her various helpers. Probably the tv crew too. The children were yelled at for every infraction, no matter how minor. The girls were constantly pitted against the boys for just about everything. They weren't given love by their mother. When you grow up having anger modeled, you learn anger. I'm sure, even if they hate the fighting, they don't have the emotional skills to break the cycle. Unfortunately, that can have long lasting effects on their lives. Making friends, taking criticism from teachers, working at a job, sustaining a romantic relationship.

You're right ,they don't know how to stop it. It's all they know. Some will never stop handling life in that contentious manner, and you're right, they will find that most boyfriends/girlfriends, bosses, friends, and other relatives don't like nasty interactions like that, which will result in many life failures for them. Others will recognize the problem, and fork over thousands of dollars in therapy that may or may not help. What a shame.

I believe that she spends very little time with these kids outside of the necessary dining minutes and school drop-off (which I don't doubt is often handled by a nanny). I think she spends most of her day shopping or in her room. And as soon as dinner is over, she goes right back there. This is not a person who enjoys spending time with her children---unless she's getting paid for it.

Really good observation. I think their realization may come in stages for some of them. It might not be an overnight epiphany. The first stage may very well be starting to recognize they actually don't like some aspects of filming, though not quite laying blame on anyone yet. The second stage might very well be acting out in response to these new and confusing emotions over something they more or less went along with for so long.

I imagine the third stage is realizing I don't have to necessarily do what the adults want me to do. I have my own opinions about what I want for myself.

The final stage will be laying blame at the various parties who did this to them.

I was paid pretty decently, but I was not always treated right, and was talked down to sometimes, ordered about, and blamed for things that were not my fault. I shouldn't have to ask every week to get paid, and my hours should be respected. Yet other times I was treated like a daughter and got lots of perks and so forth which felt genuine, which puts you in a state of confusion.

I just kind of took it, but when talking with fellow caregivers we would often shake our heads and say wouldn't you treat the person you are entrusting your kids to like gold? Why would you risk pissing them off and they take it out on your kids? Not that any of us would dream of taking it out on the kids, the kids have nothing to do with it, but how can they be sure of that?

When I tune into programs like The Crown, or The Fall or Better Call Saul, or Homeland, Game of Thrones (I could go on and on), I'm amazed there are any reality shows even left. Kate is very, very lucky given the high caliber of television right now. TV is written and produced by film people now with film-like budgets. There's no longer this separation their used to be which tended to make TV of somewhat lower quality than film. Nowadays, you can find a TV show that is just as good as an Oscar nominated film.

Eh, it's not as important as just being really talented, working really hard, and being really tenacious. Em should spend time acting as much as she possibly can and going on as many auditions as she possibly can and taking every job she possibly can, and get off twitter.

You don't get into an audition and say oh and by the way, I know Carnie Wilson.

I think Carnie Wilson sounds like a gem, but this business is about talent. Even if someone happens to know someone, like even their own parent, it really doesn't matter if at the end of the day they're not talented. You can't hide behind Carnie Wilson if in the end you're not that good because you spent too much time on twitter.

So true. I use to work in the saving and loan business in the 80's. I was the saving manager at a branch in the influential area in Charlotte. There was this man in his 60's who was very loaded. I mean millionaire status and that was just what he had at our S&L. Those were the days where CD's were kept in passport books. And he literally had a huge bundle of them from other banks. He dressed like he was literally homeless and drove a car from the 60's that you would not take if he gave it to you for free. My manager told me to drive by his home after work one day; it was literally around the block from the branch. It was this very old, stately, beautiful home that was in horrible condition. I was still stunned even though he dressed poorly and drove a dump of a car. This opened my eyes to the above comment how the very rich can be very strange about spending their money.

Tamara so true what you said about TLC but Kate may star in a reality series but she needs to raise her children in reality. And the reality is she is the one who has and is primarily teaching these kids how to behave. The great majority of their time is and has been spent with her as their role model. And we see her freaking out all the time. Her mode is yelling and screaming.

Children personalities are basically set by age five or so. I think Kate royally screwed up by 1)Filming the hell out of her toddlers & small children when their personalities were being formed. This was the time when Jon and Kate Plus 8 were filming a tremendous amount of tv episodes. I think it was four to five seasons. All that filming and the kids excessive traveling during that time was totally unfounded and added tremendous stress on the marriage and all the children. Her mind and time was not spent on her children but on her fame and fortune. In addition Kate and Jon (because of Kate) spend so many weekends away during that time going to speak at churches to collect more money instead of spending family time with her kids during her downtime.

Then she admits she spent many weekends away holed up in a motel writing Multiple Blessings with Beth. Then came all the book tours she did. Jon stated that she would come home, repack and leave again right before the separation. Of course they divorced at that time. Then came the paps intruding their lives and front yard. The kids were 5 or 6. It was pure chaos for the eight.

In January 2010 Kate gave a People interview. She said,
"They start counseling in the next two weeks,” she reveals. “I found an awesome counselor who will come to us, and she will be working with them. I’m definitely seeing signs that it’s a major need at this point. For some more than others, but they’re all really struggling with the absence of a parent.” So what does Kate do when she knew her kids were in "major need of counseling and really struggling". Of course, she signs up for DWTS and was gone for weeks at a time with an occasional pop-in. Anybody remember this: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/kate-gosselin-returns-home-then-leaves-kids-again-2010224

I do and I especially remember Colin at the door super upset at Kate leaving AGAIN. His other Daddy, Steve, had to take him aside and calm him.

Oh lets not forget she was also shooting "Twist of Kate" because she announced it on DWTS. And was also shooting Kate Plus 8 that started a few weeks after DWTS.

No wonder her kids are misbehaved. They were literally raised in a tv studio at their other home from age 18 months to five. When they were not in the studio, they were flying all over or driving for hours filming. They were raised by a slew of different nannies too through the many years. It was more important for Kate to go to New York continually to have two sets of 20 hour hair extensions and hair cuts. She spent so much time In New York on the View, The Today Show, Extra, E!,etc. promoting herself rather then spending time disciplining her very needy, troubled kids.

Yeah, she was there for her kids, my ass. She NEVER put her kids first. She disgusts me to no end.

I was still stunned even though he dressed poorly and drove a dump of a car.

That's fascinating. I think money makes some people paranoid, irrational or both. Moreso when people didn't always have money. You see this all the time, a rich person not acting rich. Not that you should overspend once you have money, but at the very least you could replace your old tattered Rebox with something a little sturdier.

Woah! For one thing, each & every child was blanket trained. (Just look it up..) The sad summary is that the babies are whacked if they attempt to crawl off of the blanket.
Secondly, they have all been trained (brainwashed) into always portraying a calm and joyful demeanor. Their own personal feelings & expressions are not allowed. The must always look pleasant & respectful towards everyone or risk being banished from their community. That's why Michelle, and all the married girls look at their men so adoringly, (blech) as their husbands have now replaced their father. It is a patriarchal society and women have only one job.. To please her husband in all ways. And that goes for the kids. They must be pleasant-right down to the expression on their faces or they will be punished.

(Yes, the parents have tons of issues but I am just talking about how kids live what they learn so please don't attack me about the Duggars).
--------------------

I am absolutely not attacking you but I want to say that the Duggar children are blanket trained as babies and toddlers and who knows how disciplined as children. If you aren't sure what blanket training is(I apologize if you do know), the baby as young as 6-7 months is placed on a blanket and the second it moves an inch off the blanket, is either smacked or hit with a thin tree branch(I cannot remember the english word for it). The whole thing is done for as long as it takes for the child to understand that the blanket edges are boundaries. That and ignoring the kids' cry I would think makes for quiet calm kids.

I'll say it again, the G kids are a living, breathing experiment. No one knows how things are going to end up. Like a teenager who has poor decision-making abilities, TFW has parented in the moment -- not thinking ahead to how her decisions would effect her children down the line. And those decisions almost always seem to made based on what's best for HER.

When TFW had TV lighting installed in her home, I'm sure she thought that was a super practical idea. But did she notice one of her children had certain sensitivities that might be negatively impacted by that kind of stimulation? If she did, it sure didn't stop her. TFW thinks if she continues to shout "I would do ANYTHING for my kids," it grants her immunity from negative judgment about her. It doesn't. And since she admitted she made her life our business -- by selling her children's privacy to a TV network -- she will continue to be subject to that scrutiny.

Exactly. Children are not allowed normal emotions. It's high treason if a kid pouts, gets upset or heaven forbid, voices discontentment.
The Duggars and their ilk raise their kids to smile OR ELSE.

Bad example using the Duggars. I forgot about the blanket training and suppressing their personalities.

But the point is large families do raise calm kids. Kate's excuse has always been she has too many and therefore she has to scream and yell. That 2 to 3 minute promotion clip for this season highlights Kate flipping out left, right, up, and down. Dang, her kids were telling her she is crazy and out of control. But of course we all know that she will never see it that away. You know I wonder if Colin's therapist has addressed her behavior and how it effects him. Ouch!

Before writing that comment (#130), I had just read TLC facebook page and was surprised how many people praised Kate in her parenting. In essence they were stating of course Kate flips out, who wouldn't with eight kids. She has done a great job raising those kids by herself. Those comments just set me off. Normally her facebook page has a lot of negative comments. And the great majority of them were positive towards her this time.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Yes many other large families have calm kids and I would even compare it to teachers and their classrooms. One can routinely find a classroom of 25-30 kids which is orderly, calm, and respectful of one another, and is that way without physical discipline of any kind. And these are kids that are probably even more different from each other than siblings. The bottom line is order and respect stems from who is in charge. If you have a teacher who is not respected and who doesn't know how to get a handle on a large group, chaos happens. Same goes for parents. No matter if you have two kids or eight kids, if a parent is not parenting, then kids will dissolve into what's happened to the G kids--disrespect, bickering, hitting, cruelty.

Quite frankly, Lord of the Flies had it right. Without firm guidance from adults who are in charge, kids can become quite ugly.

It fascinates me to see how people behave with their money and the choices they make. We had neighbors down the street who were very flashy spenders. They bought this Sub Zero double refrigerator, and remodeled their kitchen so that there was a straight line of sight from the front door to this monstrosity of a refrigerator. Then they left the front door open (there was a glass inner door that was closed) at all times so everyone who walked past would see this fridge. Then they bought matching his-and-hers Range Rovers, which were always in the driveway, never the garage. The bank foreclosed on their house months later.

Kind of like setting hourself up in a lifestyle that requires a reality show to maintain. How do these people justify that?

Yes, it's crazy making living with that kind of chaos. Plus, it's another control tactic. You start to question your version of events, or your memory...so that you become dependent on the abuser's memory or version. They make you think YOU'RE the crazy because the force their version down your throat until you believe it and then you don't even trust your own judgement or have difficulties making everyday decisions because someone has warped your reality. How many people have been coerced into confessing to crimes they didn't commit? Look at what she did with globegate? And on the other end of it, you maybe LIE about everything...the truth always gets you in some sort of crap.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

I've brought this up before, but one of the most revealing moments of this whole thing was when Jon said he'd grown a beard, and didn't want to keep it, but TLC made him for continuity purposes. That told us that things were filmed out of sequence -- that something might have to be reshot later to make sense of things, or if something had gone wrong, or if the director and editor (Bill Blankinship) didn't have the right footage.

How in the blue-dilly heck does that scan with what TFW described as the "realest reality?" How is that "what you see is what you get?" How is that the kids just "running in and out of camera range?" She's been disingenuous from jump.

Yes, she does thinks she's funny rather than obnoxious. Like when she's screaming at the kids to give her the waffles and does that "ple-hee-hease" thing at the end. She thinks it's endearing, when others see it as obnoxious.

The tups' 12th birthday is on tomorrow night. Oh boy, another scavenger hunt. They've already done that. I guess they're out of ideas. It will be all about Kate, of course. How she came up with the idea, how much work it was to pull it off, how exhausted she is. Then she'll do lots of yelling during the event to make it all about her. Can't let the kids get too much screen time.

Despite her insistence to the contrary, Kate is very aware of the cameras and her behavior is always altered by them. She turns the volume up to 11 whenever filming.
As to the chaos, I think it's due in large part to those kids being raised by a bevy of caregivers, nannies, babysitters and crew members, which led to lack on consistency on the one hand, and total dictatorship from their mother on the other hand.
When she was present which I would guess has *maybe* been 50% of the time.

The reason J+K+8 lasted as long as it did (and wold have gone strong for more years with Jon) is due to Kate being a controlling shrew of a woman, and Jon being her whipping boy.
Unless these new parents develop some sort of conflict and marital discord, they will be gone in a couple seasons.
If they don't get what production is looking for by now, they will soon.
They will "get" that "normal" on any level does not sell.

I grew up in an emotionally chaotic household. With the added confusion of rigid Catholic rules. We are seven siblings -- all older adults now. We all succeeded and have what I would define as "good" lives.

There is hope.

It does take time to untangle. A person must be able to observe the behavior of others and find examples you wish to follow. Hopefully, you don't select a marriage partner before you realize there are other calmer and kinder lifestyles.

The Gosselins will get out "on their own" -- they will have to decide what baggage behaviors they want to carry with them. They will learn quickly that some of what they have observed will NOT work in the regular world.

I will follow their story and always be wishing them a healthy life path.

I honestly believe the yelling filmed is not for show but is the actual world of these kids. Granted, Kate is an exaggerator (that phuuuu-ease) and her annoying sounds and facial expressions are her lame attempts at acting, but she is who she is and yelling is her means of communicating with her kids, and apparently according to Hannah, with Steve also.

Nicky said...

She encourages competition between the kids - that's why there is so much chaos. Of course it's natural for siblings to fight, but it typically dissipates once they get older. I think they will all splinter away - and the poster who said just because she says she goes everything for her kids, it doesn't mean she does, hit the nail on the head. She is not fostering a "family" environment at all. It's kill or be killed in the Gosselin household.

And I think there is a difference between being cheap and being frugal. Kate is cheap, and always will be, as she only looks out for herself. My parents are retired and living comfortably - they are frugal, but never cheap.

Kate is definitely not frugal. That involves making a plan for how to save money while still get essential things. Kate has no shame demanding (not asking for) freebies. But she doesn't even plan those. How much of her Costco purchase will be thrown away? And she is never cheap when it comes to her own pleasure and comfort, only her children's. Her manicures, pedicures, spa trips, hair styling, limousines, cars, online shopping, plastic surgery. I end up believing she's got a mountain of money stashed away because how else could she sustain her current standard of living.

@Cruisin' Just As Fast As She Can Now (183)Apart from wishing Jon into a coma,i herd she was worse back then than now.She would talk about Jon's private area obsessively and i also saw a tweet where she told Kate that if any of the kids asked about her relationship with Jon to threaten them and say Jon is her enemy.Im not sure what she said about Robert but i herd there was alot of rumors that they spread about him.For example there was a post by Robert where he show one of the fans accusing him of abusing Shoka and other stuff.

. . .
You have to find a guy who, basically, is willing to put practicality aside. Not in their nature.
_____

Or one who's easily duped. :) "Just one more."

They put the ugly picture of her bending over, with her tongue almost sticking out in the silver top dress when she did that interview at the Grove and Steve forced her to take pictures with a couple of fans.

Wow, she was about to meltdown when Steve told her she needed to allow pictures with the fans.

Kate seems like one of those parents where, instead of telling Mady to start the video over again and do it right this time, she just thinks everything she does is wonderful. The mannequin video was really bad, poorly lit and filmed so closely you had no sense of the scene, which is the whole point of the challenge. Nothing like that is going viral, and it should, a little bit at least, but for the poor filming.

Mady needs a parent to guide her, tell her when she's being rude, when she could try harder when making a video or start over, when she's not funny. She just isn't getting that.

Not every man wants to be the "leader" of the family. Some don't subscribe to the very traditional gender roles that you seem to think define "being a man."

&&&&

They may be traditional, but time and time again I've seen relationships fail when a man is not given some kind of leadership role. I think many men feel emasculated when always asked to take a step back, which causes discord. A healthy balance is probably best, with each party sometimes taking the lead so no one person feels they have no say. And I'm sorry, but a man should hold the door open for the women in his life, and I don't care if you think that's 19th century. That is one role that should not change. Women do plenty of things for him they're good at that make that little convenience up to him--that's not a sexual comment! :)
