TLC cancels '19 Kids and Counting'

After more than a month in limbo, the network decides to officially axe the popular show and says it's committed to educating the public about sexual abuse.

"We spent the past month and a half in thoughtful consideration about what is the best way forward here. It's no secret that '19 Kids and Counting' was a really, really hit show. But we have some other great shows, both on the air and in the pipeline.
"  Marjorie Kaplan, group president of TLC, Animal Planet and Velocity networks.

That's what makes them a cult, IMO. They don't encourage independent thought in their members. They see their own teachings as sacrosanct. They don't progress with society. Like the Amish, there will be plenty of breaking Duggar. Even Scientology has seen its share of defection in the past few years. How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm, after they've seen Paree?

PA Mom, 4...I just thought that I would report that I got home from the mall, safe and sound. There were no PA National Guardsmen on duty at Boscov's, no SWAT teams, and as far as I could tell, no international terrorists infiltrating from within. No bomb threats. I guess that the detectives did their job and all is now safe and secure within the Boscov's store. It's indeed comforting to know that others, thousands of miles away, have been vigilant security watch dogs for them.

We were telling each other stories about Bowser, we are blessed to have so many. My husband used to take his dog along to get the mail, do errands, one day he was craving a sub sandwich, but knew if he got one, that Bowser would be staring at him while he ate it. So he tells me he bought a sub sandwich just for Bowser, so he would not feel guilty!
Sad he lost his buddy.

There was no metal detector at any of the entrances, so perhaps that's only in the installation process. No Ratclaws scurrying around on the roof, but maybe he was recharging his little motor scooter in the annex. No picket signs, no public disturbances, some long lines in the kids' clothing section because of the great summer clearance sales they are having. I did notice a gathering around the Yankee Candles section...quite a few people sniffing "Cotton Candy," "Salt Water Taffy" and "Boardwalk" scents. I bought the "Cotton Candy." Couldn't resist. Oh, gosh...what if I am on the security video with my nose in the jar? How humiliating!

Thinking about the rider requests for Essex house:

Similar to the Kobe beef; raising the cows for Kobe beef is the opposite of natural, similar to veal, but they get to exist (live?) longer. Shouldn't she be asking for locally sourced, free range, grass fed beef? Anyone else notice that Kate demanded french fries for every meal, with assorted dipping sauces. Mmmmmmm.....organic-y......

Though TLC has canceled the Duggars' reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting following the molestation scandal surrounding Duggar son Josh, the family will continue to work with the network on special broadcasts — like one forthcoming documentary on the subject of sexual abuse. Specifically, People magazine says their "future in television could possibly parallel that of Kate Gosselin, whose show was also canceled [by TLC] in 2011 following her nasty split from ex-husband Jon," but who still pops up to provide awkward Kate Plus 8 updates on her family and life now and then. Kate Gosselin remains a role model for the world at large, in other words.

Describing the family as "heartbroken" over the loss of the platform their show represented, People's sources add that the family want to get back on TV. But only as a whole, that is — Jim Bob Duggar reportedly scuttled plans for the rumored spin-off centered around daughters Jessa and Jill, as well as their respective husbands Ben and Derick. Jim Bob "was never thrilled about the show suddenly shifting focus," People says again, and was "not on board" with the concept. And that was that.

Ironically, one of the Duggars' favorite sayings is, "Amendment to live by-J.O.Y. Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last."

If it's true JimBoob put the stop to a spinoff show, he's pretty dumb. A spinoff show would at least get their name back out there and their brand circulating. Eventually, the public might be okay with them back on the scene, and he could have slowly transitioned to easing the rest of the family back into the show. The public forgets fast. 7th Heaven is back on the air and no one's said anything.

But to cut off an opportunity for ANYONE to get back in the public conversation makes transitioning to having a show back on all the harder.

He is an idiot, or stubborn, or both.

The Duggars didn't "lose" $25 million unless there was a clause about paying back earnings, which I doubt. They just didn't earn another $25 million. And if they were set to earn another $25 million, they have been earning plenty all along and have some big brass ones to ask for donations. I bet they want the money to sue TLC to get the show back on.

Why am I getting the urge to go to Boscov's, look in the cameras, and pick my nose? Just to see if security's been beefed up and will descend on me. I truly hope that girl wasn't fired.

The newlyweds and husbands are all over age 18 and can enter into contracts on their own. Why didn't they? It would make lots of sense to do the new show and easily slip back into the old formula. I wonder how accurate that rumor is. The parents could have even insisted on a producers title.
Another thought. Isn't it something how Honey BB has disappeared from the media and is basically forgotten. Since I began watching Jon and Kate, my eyes have opened to the world of media, reality tv, product placement, interviews, talkshows and how things can be spun and rumors spread as needed.

Actually, my first thought is why didn't they tell JimBoob to F off, they'll sign what they want?

Then I remembered he's a cult leader and they are just his minions. This is not a normal situation where if it were your parent or my parent I would say I appreciate your concern and objections Dad but I have to do what's best for me and my husband.

These just aren't normal people who are going to defy the patriarch of the cult even when his wishes go against your own best interest. In fact this just is more evidence they are a cult and don't think independently.

Stick a diamond ring up there and security will come running.

I think that they are figuring the 25 million is what they will lose in a year with no filming, assuming that they earn 45 grand an episode, plus all of the perks, vacations, speaking engagements etc. They haven't "lost" those millions in the sense that they have to pay anything back, but they are "out" 25 million in potential earnings.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I still am shocked that Jim Bob and Michelle and all the kids went to that conference about adoption and everyone of them stood at the podium and Jim Bob or Michelle said something to the effect of if they couldn't have a baby naturally that they would adopt.
I was floored. That audience had couples who have had many attempts at fertility treatments to get pregnant, couples who couldn't have children and they stand there with 19 offsprings and say something like that? I thought it was horrible. I think I read that some couples just got up and left.
Jim Bob and Michelle are gluttons and severely narcissistic. If Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice would of signed their own contracts to have their own show, Jim Bob would of declared them infidels of the Gothard church.
No wonder TFW wants to film the Whoa Nelly out of those poor kids.
The money and perks are just that good.
I hadn't watched Nancy Grace in a pretty good while. Last night was very disturbing. 2 little boys who were in daycare went on a field trip to a splash pad. They were 4 and 5 years old. They didn't wear a t-shirt all day and no sunscreen. They had ran out and didn't get them any. By the time the mom came to get them at dc they were in critical condition burned and the employees were mocking them because they were crying and calling them big babies because they were crying.
They were in Oklahoma and had to be med-flighted to Galveston TX to Shiners.
The mother posted their pictures on FB and Gofundme and they took them down. Those boys are so precious and in so much pain.
They have shut down the daycare. What is so crazy is that the mom was fixing to remove them and let them go to another daycare because she would pick them up and they always were extremely thirsty.
We cannot express enough gratitude for the ways God has been working through so many of you to make this transition for our family as smooth as possible. God has used you all to bless us and to make our vision a reality for those who have yet to put their faith in Jesus Christ, who is our only hope for salvation."
I really take exception to these perfectly able bodied young people calling begging some sort of divine intervention.
It's begging with a religious bow put on it.
To me, it borders on blasphemous to use God to lure people into giving them money when they are not needy, sick or disabled.
If they truly are going to be missionaries for life, set up a tax ID number and be accountable for all the money that's given. Be transparent about exactly how the money is being used.
Otherwise, you're begging for money from hard working people who certainly don't have the spare change to keep YOUR kid in diapers.
It's stunning, but perhaps not surprising, that it only took a matter of weeks for several members of this family to start publicly asking people to donate money, after YEARS of fame, big paychecks, freebies, product placements, travel and all around celebrity red carpet treatment.
At least she's been relatively quiet on Twitter and there's nothing in the tabloids.
I do believe, knowing what the Duggars were paid per episode, that Kate's salary was grossly exaggerated for Kate Plus 8. That $250,000 per episode never made sense.
