'Dance Moms' dancer sues Abby Lee Miller

One of the younger dancers on Lifetime's popular reality show, Paige, is suing her teacher. The suit claims Abby pinched the dancers until they bled, made them cry and called them names. It also says Abby ramped up the drama for television.

In the past, other cast members have accused the show of making the children work long hours. Abby herself has admitted some things are fake, including the "pyramid" ranking the dancers, but says she likes the perks of being a star.

The filing can be read in full here.

Deadline.com has a more thorough story than TMZ. Their story also includes a link to the actual court filing.

http://deadline.com/2014/10/dance-moms-assault-lawsuit-host-abby-lee-miller-cast-member-849028/

Here's the link to the court filing, which is in PDF format:

https://pmcdeadline2.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/dance-moms-assult-kelly-hyland.pdf

I found it interesting that in point 11 on page 4 of the filing, they bring up the PA Child Labor Laws, and that they accuse the show of being in violation of those laws. It won't let me copy/paste from the document, but this is part of what it says:

11. As the show went into production it became clear early on that the children on the show were being subjected to abusive and unlawful working conditions. In fact the girls on the show often worked long hours without receiving all required breaks in violation of Pennsylvania Child Labor Laws and other applicable provisions of law.

It will be interesting to see if the new PA labor laws will be brought into play in this suit. The suit doesn't specifically name Lifetime or the show's production company, but it also names Does 1-20 as defendants, in addition to Abby Lee Miller.

Admin-I'd like your take on this after you read the exact complaint. I am most curious as to why the suit is being filed in CA court instead of PA court. Would it have to do with the fact that both Lifetime and Collins Avenue(the production company) are based in CA?

I don't watch this show but did read the article and also the other article attached to it. Then there was also a film clip from the show on TMZ.

Kelly at some point pulled Abbey's hair and it was said that an arrest was made. Don't know if this is true. But from the clip it showed Abbey accusing Kelly of not paying and Kelly stating that she has paid for the past 10 years. Then Kelly screams at Abbey twice that she is a whore. And this fight started with the kids in the room. They showed the kids being ushered out.

I say shame on all the parents that put their kids under Abbey's control and abuse. And then to have it filmed is even more disgusting. But if I were the judge I would ask Kelly why has she stayed with Abby for ten years. Kelly is now claiming Paige, her daughter, is now in therapy from having to work with Abbey's abuse.

But it is her mother's responsible to prevent this. This incident, or even incidents (hair pulling, name calling, etc.) was not a surprise to anybody in the least. Abbey's behavior is very well known and no surprise to anyone. It wasn't as if Abbey did a one time or even two time bad act that surprised Kelly. The mother is 100% at fault...not Abbey. The mother sat through all the practices and witnessed Abbey's abuse ways for ten years. And it sounds like Kelly is abusive too. She pulled Abbey's hair and called her a whore twice.

The judge needs to throw this lawsuit out. And all parents need to wise up and get their kids out from Abby's control and presence. And TV needs to stop filming this garbage.

Kate is a Twit, the complaint does mention Lifetime and Collins. And it also states in the very beginning why it was filed in California. The reasons were the parties in the contract were governed by laws in California. It also states all parties of the contract do business in CA.

Tucker's Mom said...

The money being spent on this stupid lawsuit should be spent on therapy for the "traumatized" daughter, and not on Abbey.
I do hope that it does bring any child labor infractions to light, and shut down production of this exploitive show.

Where are the fathers, btw??? Just happily spending the blood money?

Leslie watch the clip again. ALM was moving toward Kelly in a threatening manner and tried to bite her finger. I think the blame is equally shared between the two. ALM is a bully and the network seems to encourage it for ratings and they also seem to encourage the moms to let the crazy fly.

I agree these mothers should get their children off the show. They seem to use the 'bound by a contract' excuse very easily. However, I do believe that most of the girls were Abby's students since they were 2 -3 years of age and found her dance classes a positive experience. I don't think the mothers knew what would happen and many of their 'fights' were merely scripted.

I think being a star went to Abby's head. Her mother was a famous dance teacher and seemed gentle in her manner and Abby idolized her.Having her own show made Abby more narcissistic and brought out the bully in her.

I did see the episode with the chair. It was not finished for the upcoming competition ( by Kelly) and Abby did throw it quite near Paige, whom she was yelling at and threatening to cut her solo . It did appear that Abby would throw the chair again at Paige, continue to berate her and her mother, and possibly hit her. Paige was often the scapegoat for the group.Paige and Kendall have been shown having panic/crying attacks. Nia, the only African-American child, is also insulted and usually given only ethnic solos.

When Kelly pulled Abby's hair,it was after Abby lunged toward her and pretended she was going to bite Kelly's face- or maybe actually was. Who knows what was scripted?

The whole slant of the show changed a couple of years ago and I stopped watching with my dd. It became the "Maddie" and Abby show- Maddie is a student who has had some success as a dancer and was in the Chandelier video,. Everyone is berated for not being Maddie- even as far as not having her facial expressions etc. Abby is never happy with 2nd place and calls the girls who get 2nd 'the first loser' She often insults the girls' physical appearance or habits, and although Maddie is not the cutest of the kids, she is the one to emulate.

It has become untenable now. I think the mothers should get their children out, despite lawsuits- there is plenty of evidence against Abby bullying the kids, and besides, they must have made a lot of money from the show by now to pay for lawyers. They seem to care about their children so they should act on it.

It is an excuse. If a minor is being harmed by the filming, there's no judge on earth that would enforce that contract.
The mothers love the money, fame and attention more than they love their own daughters.

This is why I don't give a crap if Abbey's students get gigs on Broadway or wherever. It's sick to subject minors to this and brainwashing kids to believe that 2nd place is first loser will one day end in tragedy.

Paper Plates, I am sorry I took awhile before answering your question from the previous topic. I have been thinking about you.

My best advice is TAKE TIME.

Take time to be with yourself. The horrible days will get better -- bit by bit. Don't make any change that isn't absolutely necessary. Don't rush into any new relationship.

Re-location, getting a job or changing jobs, dating -- they all cause you to focus outside yourself. They are distractions. Not thinking might help in the moment, but for the long haul of life you need to heal completely.

Learn who you are when alone. It is difficult. Survive feeling abandoned by becoming more sure of how valuable you really are.

Wonderful surprises are waiting for you. Be ready, healed and healthy when they find you.

I completely 100% agree with this. I simply do not believe any judge who allows a minor out of his contractual obligations because they are being harmed would ever be reversed. It is a lame excuse used for years. You learn in contract law that contracts CAN be breached for various reasons. For instance if you contract to do something illegal, like working such long hours you're in violation of child labor laws, you can breach without consequence.

Formely Duped, it sounds like I stopped watching just about when you did. In my opinion this show was pretty good the first couple seasons. Then it changed. I think they thought the draw was all the fighting, Abby being a monster and pitting the kids against each other. So they ramped all that up times ten and it became less about the dance, which is what I enjoyed. They lost me.

I looked it up and Kelly has appeared in 75 episodes. So my question is did Kelly, the mother, just sign one contract that covered all these 75 episodes. My guess is no. And that is why I feel she is at fault. It is abuse on her part to sign her daughter up for a show that she knows has a very abusive teacher and production crew that encourages it.

I agree, and I feel about this situation pretty much how I feel about the Gosselins. To me, the fault with the Gosselins lies with the parents themselves, but also TLC, Discovery, and the state of PA for not cracking down. Same with Dance Moms. The fault is on the parents too, as well as Abby, as well as Lifetime and PA. Much like it takes a village to raise a child, it can take a village to exploit a child too. However, I don't think Kelly's hands are so unclean that she shouldn't file this lawsuit. I think she should file it. She needs to own her role in it, but just because she did something wrong should not absolve Abby of wrongdoing.

Been there although nowhere near the length of your marriage. BUT I spent a lot of time with close friends and family who knew me well, went to counseling to address the huge change in my life, and did not date for a while, as I simply was not ready; I needed to heal first and get some perspective of what I actually wanted at that point in my life.

Surround yourself with close knit people, who know you well, try new things that you would enjoy, and take very good care of yourself. There are seasons to life, and we don't always want them, but they open new chapters in life. Sounds stupid, but you will eventually establish a new life for yourself, and eventually enjoy it.

In the meantime, wishing you the best, and don't let this change who you really are!

If it goes forward, and Abbey is held responsible for her abuse, I hope it furthers a discussion about parents putting their kids on reality tv for money.
It's wrong and it needs to stop.
I hate to think what it says about us as a society that we can stand by using children who are unable to consent or begin to understand what putting their lives on tv as far as life-long consequences, both good and bad.

After reading the actual complaint I have a bit more understanding of Kelly, assuming this is true. Kelly said as early as season two she wanted to yank the children off the show and the producers threatened to sue her for everything she had if she did. Sound familiar? I can see how that would really scare someone. It's easy for us to say call their bluff and pull the kids off but it's different when you are the person they are threatening. She also retained an attorney around that time which to me shows she has made active efforts to correct this situation and has been trying for awhile now. Props to her.

I think I watched 10 minutes of one episode of Dance Moms and realized right away that this show had very little to do with the dancing and was all about the immature antics of a group of stage moms and an obnoxious instructor.

I mean, it's right there in the title, isn't it?

It is so sad that so many kids are being used and exploited just to make bank for a bunch of t.v. producers, executives and narcissistic adults vying for their 15 minutes of fame.

I shudder to think what the latest generation of kids is going to grow up thinking is normal and acceptable behaviour if this is the example they are being shown.

What a world.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Also interesting is Kelly says they were told when they signed up this was just going to be six episodes. Then I guess it took off and morphed into the juggernaut it is now. I do remember it was just a mini series when it started so that sounds credible. I can see how decent parents could have easily been duped into the "just six" promise then suckered into 100 more episodes because of something in the fine print and fear they would be sued if they didn't. I applaud anything that exposes the shady practice of taking advantage of unrepresented laymen and their little children. Where is the state of PA? The moms have been complaining about the long hours since at least 2012.

Here is a crazy thought: any possibility that the is part of pr for the show? Getting attention? Filled i'm California so TMZ and other gossip does will have easier access to documents? And after a certain amount of negotiation everything will be dropped, all will be forgiven, and the reunion special, Abby and the Moms tell all,.will get ratings?
I think any parent who has allowed their child to be worked so hard should be investigated for abuse.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I'm guessing they filed it in CA because they felt the laws they are seeking relief under are more favorable there than PA and the parties have enough contacts with CA to justify it. But I bet the first motion Abby will file will be to say CA doesn't have jurisdiction.

Millicent said...

I have never watched Dance Moms, and it sounds like I didn't miss anything much. However, I think this is just another example of how signing a contract with a large corporation may mean you are signing your life (and that of your minor child) away and out of your control. I wish people were more careful before signing contract.

However, I agree that if the allegations in the complaint are accurate, that a judge should find for the plaintiffs and order them released from the contract, in addition to whatever other findings he/she might also arrive at.

Because I am such an intensely private person, I don't really understand why people want to have their lives exposed on tv. I know that it comes with perks, like making lots of money. But I would rather pinch my pennies than have no control over my own life.

I hope the plaintiffs can prevail in their lawsuit. Sounds like they have been subjected to some very unpleasant things.

I was reading over some of Kate's journal yesterday and again came to the part (in the early days of the show) where she said she was worried 'satan' was gaining ground on her and she didn't want that to happen. Whoops. Guess she was a little weaker than she thought.

It reminded me of Flip Wilson's immortal rationalization that 'the devil made me do it'. Abby appears to have snagged a deal with him for the 'perks' too.

Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to hear what areas of Oregon you visited, purely for selfish reasons :) I am considering retiring to Oregon in a few years and will myself be visiting that state in the coming months to check out various areas.

To the poster who is going through a divorce. I am so sorry to hear of it. I have never been married, so never divorced. I thought the advice given to you so far was very good. Going through painful times is always difficult, but I think suffering and grieving are part of the process of arriving at healing. It sucks at the time, but to truly move on, you have to go through it. I definitely agree with the advice that suggested you avoid dating or romance for awhile. This is the best time to focus on yourself and reconnect with yourself. Best wishes.

I have not been posting much because my life is a little hectic as well. First, I am in escrow - my home sold. Now I'm searching for a place to rent and discovering that in my area, rentals are hard to find. For every available home, there are so many applicants. So I'm waiting until escrow closes and I have a chunk of money, so that I can offer to pay the 1st six months rent right up front. Maybe that will take me to the front of the line.

I also lost a good friend just a couple weeks ago. She had been in fragile health for awhile, but still her death was a shock. I am going to miss her terribly. She was both a friend and a co-worker and I relied on her legal knowledge.

And last but not least, my car is on the fritz. My mechanic has had it for two days now and is still trying to figure out the problem. The steering wheel was loosey-goosey, and now it doesn't want to turn at all. I'm afraid it's going to be an expensive repair, which will then mean I have to decide: Repair it and then sell it; or just try to sell it as is and buy a new car.

Life! It has its ups and downs, but it will all work out in the end. :)

“The show is child abuse, in my opinion; [Miller] should be in jail.” says Thomas. “They just show this kind of abusive woman badgering these poor little children into these performance pieces and then dragging them all over the country to participate in competitions that [Miller] doesn’t even know anything about. In some cases, they were performing on floors that shouldn’t be danced on, like gymnasium floors where a kid slipped and hurt herself. It is just irresponsible to me and I know that there are some terrific schools that participate in competition.”

So, *real* dance teachers do not subscribe to Abbey's terroristic manner of "teaching".

Has TFW heard of umbrellas? On one episode- I think where they split up- she and Jon herded the kids into a restaurant one by one with great ceremony under a big umbrella- has she forgotten? And she described in boring detail in IJWYTK I think, how they cleverly put the children in garbage bags on their rainy trip to the zoo. Maybe she should have a Post-it note for rainy days- bring umbrella.

This is a grainy (phone?) video of the scene where Abby throws the chair and insults several dancers and especially Paige.

====

I watched that the other day and saw that she didn't throw the chair AT Paige, she tossed it on the floor. It's obviously a scripted piece with some dramatics tossed in the mix so that there will be something for Kelly to get P'eed off about, otherwise why have the show? Kids? What kids? According to Abby they should 'grow the hell up' anyway. The whole thing is sickening.

Gladys, you dingbat. How old are you, and you still haven't figured out what to do with an umbrella when you get into a car? Here's a suggestion. You use the open umbrella to walk to the car, You open your car door. You slide into the seat, keeping in mind that the umbrella is still open. You stick the umbrella outside and flick it in and out a few times to get most of the water off. You close the umbrella. You again shake it off. You put it inside your car.
Oh, and they do make plastic thingies into which you can slip the umbrella. It keeps your car (and you) dry.

Got it? Try it. It works.

Ah yes. You ask that question, thereby raising the possibility that they may not actually BE wet, only that we perceive they are wet because their delusional mother created an alternate reality to invoke the idea that rain has fallen upon her children and therefore we must believe they are wet. Ergo her sheep discern the immensity of her solitary burden that includes driving her eight kids home where she will have them strip down to their unnerwears outside the basement entrance so as to prevent her precious floors from becoming soiled and wet. Further she must toss eight uniforms of clothing into only two dryers which hinders her very carefully scheduled evening timetable. Supper is ruined.

I don't mind the body getting wet, but today there was so much rain and so heavy that there was no escaping the puddles. I had to step in one up to my ankles to get from the store to the car. Water in the shoes is not fun, but hey, Kate, believe it or not, it dries!

We didn't get the heavy thunderstorms that were predicted, but traffic on the major routes in and out of the city was a disaster. There were accidents everywhere, at every turn, and no matter if you thought you were smart enough to try a different route, it just didn't work out for you. There was a woman who tried to go through water under a bridge tunnel and she ended up on top of her car, waiting for a boat rescue. That's how much it rained. These drivers think that oh, it's not deep, I can make it through, and realize too late that they should have turned around.

I'm in for the night!

A clear conscience knowing he doesn't exploit his children anymore?

In any case a lot in that article doesn't ring true. It usually takes a very long time to formally evict someone. It's not usually something that can just be wrapped up in a few months. Secondly the article claims that he has no space for the kids. He frequently is seen to take the kids out and about around town and not be at the house all the time so I don't know why that matters when you aren't at home with them anyway, and he has had a small place before and he and Kate both said the kids would just bring sleeping bags and camp out. They are still only 10, so having a sleepover shouldn't be that big of a deal to them.

The article also claims he has no place for "eight" children but it has been clear for awhile that he doesn't take all eight at once. He said himself he has date nights with the twins separately, and when we've seen photos this summer it's been with four or five kids at a time, not eight or even six. They probably all enjoy the break from each other and the chance to be a smaller family once in awhile. I have a one bedroom home and a small office that I guess you could say is a small second bedroom, and we've had a dozen people over here for gatherings without a problem. It's really not a big deal.

The devil is in the details and whoever made it up embellished the situation or whatever isn't paying close attention to the finer details someone who has been seriously following this would know.

Believe me, I imagine if Jon were living in a cardboard box, he'd still be happier than living under the demanding capricious thumb of that woman he was once married to.

I believe he has done what was in his power to provide some privacy for his children. He doesn't tweet about them, blog about them, or anything. This is pretty hilarious. Here's how I solve the wet umbrella problem - newspaper. I place folded newspaper on the floor behind my seat. When I get to my car, I toss in my purse and any bags I'm carrying, then I quickly close my umbrella and toss it onto the newspaper. I then jump into the front seat. Yes, i get some rain on me - so what. When I get home, I open the umbrella and set it in the bathtub to dry. I toss out the damp newspaper. It's not rocket science.

Hi Admin - I totally agree with you on this issue.

BUT Jon does not seem to be able to establish a solid place for his kids to live. Or keep a steady job. Not trying to be argumentative, but he is a grown man, and still doesn't always seem to make the best choices.

TFW on the other hand will continue to use her kids to make money with filming, which I also do not think is in the best interest of the kids.

The 8 kids are left in a tenuous situation at best. In the best of situations, all 8 kids should be seeing him regularly, if that is the Court order.

I completely agree with this. Even if Kate were not on the schedule I would agree with it. They are running shows that were on when I was in college for pity sake. Not knowing if any of this is even true, I can't agree or disagree. Like I said, portions of the article ring untrue like this idea that he was evicted in a matter of a few months. It's not like you can just hand them a document and say here you're evicted. You have to go through extensive legal proceedings, often with lawyers and even judges, and most laws are structured to protect the tenant at all costs. It can take six, twelve, or even more months to evict someone legally. I think there are still people out there who want to paint him in the worst possible light because they feel this somehow makes Kate look better. Lots of parents work in restaurants and live in small apartments and nobody bats an eyelash about them being "bad" parents. They don't see the irony that Kate's "job" is hardly steady and that she would be in one bedroom apartments too if she would simply stop exploiting her children.

Plus if it's windy as it often is when it's raining, an umbrella is useless. You have to fuss with it and risk it turning inside out.

Moreover, the G kids are still technically kids, and they'll be fodder until they are no longer minors, and probably beyond.

Having taken a break for compelling reasons in my personal life, all resolved now, it strikes me how absolutely mediocre TFW continues to be. TLC is short a few screws if they think filming this biotch in late summer with la-di-da back to school and twinsie teen birthday will be of any interest when they show it in the holiday month of December. Of course it is infuriating to realize how much she continues to grift and how this TLC money allows her to continue to pretend she has a media career.

This recent gossip about Jon being evicted may be a rumor, but honestly if true it does illustrate how little prepared either of them were to financially support a family of 8 children. The twins alone would have been enough. Two people, neither with 4 year college degrees, in their twenties, might have pulled it off. Kate was never going to be a nurse forever, her goal was to marry and be supported. Jon was a drifter, and the IT job(s), also something he played with. I have no doubt that Dr. Gosselin was giving them quite a bit of financial support; his demise was a financial gamechanger for the DIL. Enter TLC.

This is not going away. You still have two grownups who, absent others paying for their lifestyle, have no grownup plan for raising their children. So these children will be forced to film, do interviews, anything that pays the large bills. Their father has no real career plan that will support them either. Good luck to them, nothing is going to change.

I will probably now go back to reading here occasionally because you all are a lot of fun. The Gosselins, as a topic of interest, has been drained for me. Oh maybe I still want to know who crazy Milo really is, but should the plug be pulled on Twitter, hoping they all fade, fade away.

Agree- it's preposterous to imply that Jon doesn't have the means to have visitation/custody time with his kids.
I'm not familiar with the law on many levels, including eviction, but if Jon is uprooting once again, and out of work once again, I'm sorry, it just doesn't comport with being a responsible adult.

I can give Jon lots of "get out of jail free" cards for finding it hard to find his rudder after the astronomical ride he's been on, but for whatever reason, all those millions that he and Kate made seem to have disappeared for him.
Not Kate.
The chasm in lifestyles (which I am assuming means is reflective of their individual monies/investments) is mind-boggling.
Jon was either supremely screwed over in the divorce, driven to poverty by TLC, or has been so capricious with his share of the money that he's practically a nomad.

I dunno.

Sorry if I misunderstood the agreement, but I understood it to be a rent to own. As Jon said on national TV that he was purchasing/had purchased a new property close to TFW's house. Which may have led many of us to believe, he purchased a property per his CT pay.
I am now confused why he is being evicted based on his prior statements.

Meanwhile, what's not boring: actual children I know and/or am related to, dancing or playing a part in the school play or playing a musical instrument or just doing something cute or fun or interesting. Watching families take a vacation on tlc shows is just boring as all get out!

Gifted writers and story tellers can leave us in wonder of the most mundane of human conditions. They can paint a picture with words and phrases in a way that makes the story come alive.

Kate decidedly does not have that gift.
She decidedly does not have a way with words. Sure, she can string sentences together, but she has never shown an ability to craft magnificent images or imbue real feeling and meaning into what she's trying to convey.
Metaphors and analogies escape her.

Adding "ish" to finish a word does not an adjective make.

I agree that Jon does not have a strong resume. He does seem willing to look for and find various jobs, but none of them are long-lasting. I think he is probably a very pleasant person to be around, but he may not be the brightest bulb in the box, and maybe he's not much of a self-starter. (This last attribute would not be surprising to me. I am sure that Kate chose him in part because he is a follower, not a leader. She would pick someone who was easy to direct, not someone who had many of his own ideas or initiative.)

He also doesn't have a lot of education. He did some IT work way back when the show was first on the air. But if he hasn't kept up with current advances, he's not going to get the good jobs. Furthermore, there just aren't a lot of good jobs out there, especially for someone with a rather spotted track record. I don't know how the economy is in PA, but I am well aware that the economy is not booming along where I live. Those who have jobs are usually glad to have them, and those who are seeking are finding they have a lot of competition out there.

Whatever the reasons, I certainly wish Jon well and hope he can find a job that suits his personality. I think one of the better jobs for him would probably be ski instructor, which doesn't pay much and is seasonal. He just isn't a high-powered go-getter. Neither am I, but I found a career that suits my personality and my natural talents. I like linear work - you start at Point A, then you follow a series of steps to arrive at Point Z. I like doing research, reviewing documents and putting together an analysis of the info in front of me. I like working independently, so I've always done better in a smaller office environment with bosses that trust my work and leave me to do it. I could have earned more in a corporate environment but I would have been much less content.

Ultimately, I think Jon would do best in a relationship with a strong woman who could help guide him and give him focus. I.E., someone like Kate, but not a tyrant. A kinder, more human version of Kate lol.

What has always amazed me is how the postal service here manages to get the mail to the correct recipients. Stoltzfus, Beiler, Lapp, King, are all common Amish names, and many times they all live on the same rural road, with only a Rural Route 2 address and no street number. I remember reading somewhere that the regular carriers know where to deliver most of the mail because they know who gets their products from which companies and they look on the return addresses to see who is sending the mail. Over time, they memorize these things!

They got the first BBB because Bobbi and Ken McCaughey were given a free one when their septuplets were born and Kate was replicating that family as much as she could. It must have driven her crazy to have use their own money (or so she said) on that thing. I imagine it was purchased with Jon's inheritance money so how very big of TFW to 'give' it back to him now. It WAS his in the first place.

I can understand the convenience of a Sprinter when kids are tiny tots because you have to stand their and buckle them into their carseats and what not, but I highly doubt they need that circus van any longer. She could easily fit everyone into a regular, less expensive nine-seater one now. (and Steve can ride on the roof)

But God forbid, that would be far too mediocre-ish for her.

Yes. and its ability to climb and perch. I once had a neglected rescue whose nails were so long they grew in a curve, under his feet and embedded themselves in his feet. That poor bird was trying to walk on its nails. I took him to the vet for surgical removal of the embedded nails and after he recuperated he was the happiest parrot you ever saw .It was like a whole new life had opened up for him! He was adopted by a loving family, and the last I heard, every day he greets his new family with, "Good morning, sunshine!"

It still doesn't ring true to me. The Liz broke up with him story was floating around for at least a year then she shows up in pap photos with him. Courts aren't supposed to discriminate against a parent because of housing. Even if six kids are crammed into one bedroom, it's not supposed to be an issue for the court. Even if a parent is homeless. In CA we have it written right into our law about homelessness. Agree or not, the courts are not supposed to be overly concerned with housing and space when it comes to a parent, as long as it is safe and the children have a roof over their heads. And I also agree with Rhymes that this is definitely getting into the territory of not the public's business, especially when he has been so diligent about keeping his kids and their business out of the public eye. True or not, this is embarrassing for the children and undeserved. He has asked that they be left alone and that should be respected.

Geez is right. And there's always two sides to every story. Maybe it was a mutual parting of the ways, or maybe it's not true in the first place or partially true or whatever. Who even knows, and he's not saying anything and hasn't said anything. The vast majority of the time whoever is leaking these things sets the agenda and Jon doesn't respond. Except when you don't respond we have no clue what the other side of the story is and neither will the kids' friends.

I hope you are managing to find happiness and meaning as you forge on.

@Denaa_O I don't know why Jon Gosselin is in West Chester, but word on street is Jon goes to college bars bcuz he likes his women young.

What street would that be? Neither Zig nor Goody lives in PA. I doubt if either one of them even knows where West Chester is.

.,,,,,,

I work in west chester. You come in high and leave gay. Seriously those are the two main streets High and Gay
*******
West Chester is a nice location for Jon to choose.

It's a hamlet, college town and has more going than the deep woods where he lived with Liz.
Being single, he really shouldn't isolate himself, but should live in a vibrant locale.
It's great to be near so many places to take the kids, too.

It's the perfect middle place between the Gosselin compound and Philly, and near the Blue Route corridor, where lots of jobs are.

The really pathetic thing about Jon's situation is TFW is certainly gloating to herself about how much better off she is than him. The reality is those kids made the money TFW if living off of. She has done nothing. She looks at it like it is her destiny to be rich and famous while anyone who crosses her will be taken down.

Ultimately Jon was hurt most by TLC's lawyers. They and TFW were looking out for the money train while Jon was trying to save his kids childhood. I guess this goes to prove no good deed goes unpunished. "For the love of money is the root of all evil". Truer words have never been spoken. Money used as a tool can do harm much easier than good.

I hope Jon gets his situation stable for the sake of the kids. They need to see a rock-solid adult figure who stands up for what is morally right instead of going for the easy dollar. Too bad TFW does everything she can to show the kids that being moral is not profitable.

I hope he did break up with Liz. They seemed toxic and she was mean on CT.. She was like TFW with foul language.
*******
I agree. That relationship was toxic.
I tried, I really did try to find positive things to take away from seeing Liz and Jon on CT, but it was hard.
I will say that I get the impression that Liz is a good mother and I bet she loved the Gosselin kids.
I just saw her kvell when Jon spoke about the kids.

That said, I don't think they were meant to be.
I think Jon saw a kindred soul with kids, who didn't want more and wouldn't pressure him to have more (just one more, dontcha know).

But I think it was an uphill battle and Jon seemed to want it to work, but he was trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

My hope for Jon is that he stays good and single for a while and doesn't invite any unnecessary distractions into his life so he can focus on forging a real career path.

That, and that he never lives with another woman and her kids unless and until he is married.

When my dd was ten here dad lost his job, was losing his house, and would inappropriately talk to her about his situation. She was stressed out beyond belief. He told her he would be homeless. She would come home and cry. I finally told her he was not going to be homeless, he would sleep on our couch if need be. I feel for the 8.

********
I do too.
The headlines, the scandals, their father getting sued and losing job after job not to mention all on the heels of an acrimonious and very public divorce of their parents. I can't imagine their worries and emotional burdens.

Oh goodness I can imagine a parent's housing situation can be extremely stressful and upsetting to a child. They know much more than we think, and their imaginations take them to places we don't always appreciate. Which is why I found this particular story more below board than many others. It's just one of those stories that kids would have a much tougher time processing emotionally, than all the other stories about boobs or girlfriends or drinking that would more easily roll off their backs.

If the story about Jon is true I really can see TFW saying to the kids..."See, if we don't continue to film we'll be homeless like your father." She'll continue to parade them around like the trained monkeys that they have become. It's sad that she has so much and Jon has so little.

On the MSN home page, they have a slide show of reality tv stars and some information about them. Of course, kate is there. Here is the caption by the unflattering picture:

She was once known as a fraction of “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” but since the show ended in 2011, Kate Gosselin has managed to stay in the spotlight. She showed off her fancy footwork on this reality show and popped up on another popular series. BING: HOW OLD ARE THE SEXTUPLETS NOW?

Fancy Footwork? hahaha
You mean Fancy Shopping Cart Cha Cha!

This can't hold a candle to the blockbuster headlines of their mother suing their own father, threatening to ruin him financially and put him in jail.
Not to mention their mother speaking out about it on national television.

Can you imagine being a kid and wondering if your dad is going to be ruined by a lawsuit and go to jail, at the hand of your mother?

It doesn't get more effed up than that, imo.

There have been stories for years about Jon moving from job to job, and from domicile to domicile, so I hope that the kids understand that Jon's been there for them between jobs and between living quarters.

Jon must be feeling really down: lost his job, home, girlfriend, access to the children (?), maybe their respect and affection ( thanks to TFW) and has a series of 'failures' to look back upon. The stories on-line if he reads them are unflattering. He must really rue the day he met KK.I hope he's ok emotionally, meaning strong enough to rebuild his life-again.

(Some of those kids are really getting mouthy & mean like their mother in terms of respect and empathy. I know they mean everything to Jon; if he 'loses' them, he will be crushed)

To me, what makes airing Jon's dirty laundry so sad is that it seems like he's the G kids' "soft place to fall." Living under the same roof
as a narcissistic is draining -- it's all about Mom, 24/7. Pleasing
her, praising her, giving her "10's" for her amazing meals, doing
chores to make her happy, comforting her on the Sky Jump, etc.
That "Go Mommy" cake they had for her during the marathon was supposed to seem sweet, but it was a huge red flag to me. If you have to go out of town on, cough cough, "business," your focus
should be your children's needs and comfort -- not the other way around. They were much younger then, too.

So the thought that they have to live with this train wreck, and then
worry about what's going on at their Dad's house -- or if he has any
place to live, for that matter -- must cause extreme duress for these
kids. And, no, that's not giving Jon a pass for any behavior which
may have caused this circumstance.

Why didn't she load the kids up in the garage like a normal person?

I have no idea about what is going on with Jon, but I suspect it's true about him being evicted; however, if you are renting lease to own, it is not that easy to evict because it is not considered legally the same as just renting. Anyway, Jon is in the role of the "wife" in an ugly divorce where the rich husband walks away with everything. As long as he bounces around from job to job, woman to woman, house to house, he will never get those kids from under her talons. He has been unable to provide any stability. If he wants to get back on his feet, he should move in with a family member and save his money. Their marriage was a perfect storm regarding their personalities. Too bad for the kids.

I think so, too, however, I don't see Jon as having gotten completely thrown under the bus.
I think Jon made some poor decisions and have a feeling that he thought his "brand" was still hot, and that he'd get media work that would keep him afloat and maybe even put him squarely back in the lifestyle he's become accustomed to.
Moving to NYC and continuing a Playboy, jet-setting lifestyle was just dumb, but I do get that Jon thought he'd be the next P Diddy vis a vis the whirlwind courtship with the Ed Hardy brand (which, btw, involved using his kids for a clothing line).

Didn't Jon live with one of his brothers for a couple of months after he and Hailey broke up? I believe he was asked to leave and get his own apartment not long after that. This is truly a sad situation. At least the Roloffs seem to work together for their kids. He should lay off women for awhile and seriously think of what he wants to do with his life. Instead of blowing his money on a rich persons life style he should have been more careful and saved some. Maybe he thought his "demand" was forever.

I read somewhere that Liz moved to South Carolina with her kids. True or not who knows and who cares other than her own family.
