Beth Carson breaks her silence

The notoriously tight-lipped former best friend of Kate and beloved caregiver of the children has finally spoken out about the book she wrote for Kate, and their fractured relationship.

Beth's relationships with the children, whom she says she helped watch
for "a week at a time," was  always very loving and warm. In this screen capture
from Gosselins Go Sking, Beth tells Aaden that she has to go home early for her
daughter's birthday but that she would like to take Aaden with her in her suitcase.
Aaden responds with enthusiastic and adorable nodding.
Some highlights from the interview:
  • Beth wrote Multiple Blessings "absolutely" all herself, and she and Kate had agreed to a 50-50 split of the proceeds. Kate later tried to take back the deal and cut her down to at least a third. Beth had a lawyer and made sure she got her original cut.
  • Beth's friendship with Kate ended after Kate cut Beth off from the promotion of Multiple Blessings (despite tweets from Kate in 2011 claiming Beth is still in her life). Beth confirms that is a lie, that she hasn't spoken to Kate "for years and years."
  • Beth tried to keep up the relationship with Jon afterward, but it got "messy."
  • Beth "purposely" has not commented for years.
Meanwhile, when asked if what Beth is saying is true, Kate responded on twitter: "no." Give it up, Kate.

About allowing 13 year olds to go to a concert alone- I would never allow that. Until my daughter was 17,(she's 20 now) we didn't allow her to go to concerts without an adult. I would take her and her friends to some, and sometimes her dad would take them. She loves Panic at the Disco and Fallout Boy. We have seen them several times and I never once felt like the girls didn't want me around or that I embarrassed them by being there. I wasn't trying to relive my childhood or become my daughter's "bestie".
It was simply a mom, her daughter and a couple friends going to a concert together. Bonus that I like most of the bands my kids like. They would get up and dance and take pictures, etc, I didn't stop them from doing their thing. One venue actually had a section for adults to sit in separate from the kids, and when I suggested that I could sit there, my daughter said no, she and her friends wanted me near them. They were probably 15 at the time.
My daughter and one her friends have the same birthday, and when they turned 18 I took them to a hockey game. It was acturally the day before their birthday. We had a blast, they got their pictures taken with the team mascots, and Spongebob was there so they got a picture with him too. They posted the picture on Facebook, with the caption something like "Spending our last day as kids at hockey game with the coolest mom in the world". A photographer from our newspaper overheard us talking about their birthday, and took a picture of the three of us and it was published in the paper the next day. They thought it was great, and never did I feel like they wished I wasn't included.
We also went to many minor league baseball games together, and I never felt like either of my kids or their friends were embarrassed or afraid other kids would make fun of them for hanging out with mom.
My kids are 20 and 23 and we still go to concerts and ball games regularly, among other things. Just went to see Ringo Starr with daughter a couple weeks ago, and for the last three years we saw 1964 The Beatles Tribute Band together.
This is the third year my son and I will be going to a couple Detroit Tiger games together. Last year we got to Detroit in time to go to the Motown Museum (very cool) and to MexicanTown for lunch before the game. I know my kids are young adults now, but my point is that we have always done things together and as far as I know, nobody gave it a second thought.
Just family spending time together, nothing more, nothing less.

I know this is long so I'll shut up in a minute. But I just wanted to say to GKD, I think I must be about two years older than you, and my dad took me and my sister and our friends to many concerts in the late 70's-early 80's. We saw Leif Garrett and Rick Springfield (which I know thrilled my dad to death, but he took us because he knew it was important to us). He took us to see Aerosmith, Def Leppard, and J Geils Band which were more his style. The first concert he took my sister and I to was Bob Seger in 1978. I was 12 and my sister was 15. My dad loved Bob, and we had the best time! We went to many of his concerts together over the years . My dad passed away in 2001, and two years ago Bob was in our town on my birthday, so my sister and I went together. At one point during the concert I got a little choked up thinking about how much Dad would enjoy this, and looked over at my sister. She had tears running down her cheeks, I just hugged her and told her Dad's probably watching too, even if he's not physically here with us. So even though we had a good time, it was kind of bittersweet. It brought back memories of special times with our dad who we miss dearly.
I hope when I'm not around my kids will have good memories of things we did together, from their childhood on.

I mean you can put any ole idiot on T.V. and all of a sudden THIS happens. At the end of the day Kate's just another woman. Had she been born a hundred years ago she'd be nobody. But she was born in our age, the TV age.

Really? It seems like kids are more in danger with their own teachers or coaches these days than such a public venue. I do know from working in it most victims of child abuse the perp was a relative, friend or their own parents.

I mean what are they going to do case for some kid they like then somehow follow them out of the crowded venue and to their car and then HOME all undetected and successfully? Seems like a stretch. That's like a once in a blue moon high profile case like Jaycee Duggard. Tragic and horrifying, but incredibly, incredibly rare.

Since Beth did all the writing, and since she and Kate had a binding contract that the proceeds would be split 50/50 - there is nothing odd about Beth wanting payment she earned. I guess Milo probably has never worked a real job in her life, nor dealt with contracts or agreements, because if she had - she would know that once parties enter into a contract, they are obliged to honor it. I thought Kate was a contract honorer, no?

I'm sure the sour look on Kate's face when her own attorney told her she had to follow the terms of the legally binding contract, was epic! Forced to honor the contract! Oh the horror!

Milo is like that creepy roommate who moves in, then changes her hairstyle to match yours, then buys the same clothes you have, then copies your mannerisms. Milo - it's creepy, knock it off! And stop pretending you are a good Christian woman - you have strayed very far from that path. In fact, you seem to worship Kate Gosselin, and that is most un-Christian of you.

Mrs. Malaprop said...

I wouldn't let my younger teens attend a concert alone, but around 17-ish we have let them venture out with friends. It's hard to do, but I think it's important to gradually transfer responsibilities. I'm a big believer in teaching kids self-advocacy and problem solving skills, and I started early with my kids. When my oldest son was five we were having lunch with my mom at McDonalds. I let my son go up to the counter by himself and order an ice cream cone. It freaked my mom out, but I kept my eye on him the whole time. I also have my kids order for themselves when we eat out. My 12 year old still struggles with making good eye contact and speaking up so the waiter can hear her, but she's gaining confidence. Now I'm having her make requests. So if she needs another napkin, I encourage her to get the waiter's attention and ask for it. My nieces spent a week with us this summer, and I was amazed at their lack of self-advocacy skills! They are 11 and 13 and seemed helpless. Example - the 13 year old forgot to bring her allergy medicine, so instead of saying to me, "Aunt M, do you have any Benedryl?" she texted her dad who then called me and asked if I would give her some medicine!!! That made me even more determined to see that my girl learns to speak up and learn to meet her own needs.

Over And Out said...

Yep.

Depends on the kid, depends on the concert, depends on the venue.

---------------------------

I used to feel that way, too. I was going to be the cool mom, the one who encouraged independence, teaching them about safety in numbers, stressing the importance of making correct decisions in an unfamiliar setting, letting them do the things I was never allowed to do as a young teen.

Then I had children. I understood why my parents were overly protective (or so I thought at the time...they were just cautious and didn't take risks if they felt something wasn't age appropriate). And although I didn't go to concerts alone at age 13, I did grow up to be able to navigate through airports without difficulty, and I don't need a bodyguard to make travel reservations. I can carry my own purse. I wouldn't want Steve tagging along, even if he were offered to me as a Christmas gift.

True Chef but unfortunately we can't put them in a bubble either. The best way is to teach them how to be safe, recognize the warning signs and trouble in the first place, and one way to do that is to allow them some independence. I question whether these twins will have any idea how to function in the real world without a bodyguard or Kate breathing down their necks. Kate even puts words in their mouth. It's really sad.

My parents let me go to Europe when I was just barely 16 with an educational group. We were allowed plenty of time to go off on our own for short periods, as long as we followed the rules and returned at the time you were supposed to. The group had plenty of 13, 14 and 15 year olds. Went off without a hitch.

It was truly the best thing that ever happened to me. It sparked a real interest in global issues and definitely got me out of my shell. That's all I wish for young people is that something like that or similar allows them to spread their wings and learn how to handle some independence.

Milo is straw-manning like crazy. Trying to make this about the contract itself and how the contract in her opinion was unfair when it's not about that.

That is not the issue. The contract was done and over with. Maybe it was unfair, I've never written a book for someone, beats me. I don't care how fair it was. The issue is Kate was trying not to honor the contract. Whether it was a good contract has nothing to do with it. If Kate has a problem with the contract she either shouldn't have signed it or taken her to court over it.

I do have to hand it to Milo is that she is a master straw manner or at least a tenacious one. Ya got any other tactics though?

Everyone knows the name. She went with them to some concert years ago and there was a full security briefing (a car will tail you, security will be seated at points around you, a car will be outside your home all night, the child is not to know.....). He was quite amused but took it seriously. THAT is how real security works, and nobody would even know what this kid looks like because a picture of her has never been shown publicly. Kate has put those kids out there and continues to do so, and has her boobyguard accompany with his friendship bracelet. It is really laughable.

But that reminded me of the 7 summers my nefew/godson spent with us. I had to teach him at age 8 not to cross a street without looking, Thank G-D DD also looked out for him,

But at age ( I got tired of cutting up his meat, so showed him how, Litterally.

So, today, DD is 17, off to college, he is 6 weeks older still in highscool. He wants to be an expolisives guy in our military ( cool), DD is going to learn 3 new languages in College then travel the world.

She has been on numerous trips with school, Europe, Cuba, most of the Staes and back, and he ...

My brother is Military, I am free spirit, go for it.

the 2 have 6 weeks birth between them, my kid was allowed freedom ( supervised) at a young age...my nephew had his meat cut for him until I put a stop to it.

There are varying ways to foster independence in young people, I agree, start early, and let your kid make their own path, while you are just right behind them, until they can do it on their own.

I went to my first concert at the age of 14. It was with a group of friends. We saw the backstreet boys. One of my friends fathers dropped us off and picked us up after it was over. We all knew what was expected of us, We stayed together as a group and did not interact with strangers. My friends dad was close by at a restaurant and we had a cell phone in case something happened. Nothing happened. We had a great time and were proud that our parents trusted us. We knew the rules and the consequences of breaking the rules. We also knew that we were in charge of each others safety. I don't think there is anything wrong with letting teens go see a concert by themselves if the proper guidelines are in place. Also, these concerts have lots of security in place. They do everything they can to keep everyone safe. No one wants a lawsuit on their hands.

I know the world has changed since I was a teen but I still think that they can have some freedom with the proper guidance and safety nets in place. Cell phones are now more prevalent so in someways, I think its safer.

My guess with the Steve/Kate split is:
1) They parted ways but he had a prior commitment to body guard her and the twins for the event scheduled months ago;
2) They never parted ways and the rumor was a hoax

Who knows? There are many "body guards" out there to provide services if one feels the need to have same, and although Steve was originally part of the TLC contract, that contract no longer exists. So who knows why she still chooses to employ him?

Steve Neild has supposedly been the only consistent male figure in the lives of Kate Gosselin’s children for many years (what is Jon Gosselin–chopped liver?), therefore some believe he is there for their sake only.

Do you think that’s the case or is that simply a bad excuse for a couple of adults who may have just gotten caught doing something they weren’t supposed to do?

Depends on the kid, depends on the concert, depends on the venue. Depends, depend, depends. In any case, Kate and Steve could have gotten seats a few rows behind them and allowed the poor twins to bring a girlfriend or two. I think they both look bored."

In our area, we just had a 19/20 year old boy/man disappear at a concert...totally unusual behavior for him according to the friends he was with. His body was found at a land fill a few days later. They think he either fell or was pushed down a trash shoot, and was then buried alive in trash, and then trucked to the land fill. So, strange things can happen at concerts.

It is easy to conclude that the ROL article from supposed "non-tweeting insider" is one of Kate's people. The dig at Jon is a dead give-away. And yes, Admin, Amber should have realized by now that her Kate "sources" are feeding her bad info. Or maybe she realizes it and just doesn't care as long as she gets "clicks" on her article.

TLC stinks said...

Well, she's still Twitter quiet so it looks like she, Steve, and maybe the twins are off somewhere. She would have no problem sending the twins home (she's done it before with a driver) so she and Steve can have their alone time. Now that's a story.

No way was this concert some promise that Steve made months ago to Kate and the kids. I think the story was a plant by a Kate "insider". I think it's priming for the reveal that Gina and Steve are splitsville. It makes no sense to me that a man who was trying to save his marriage would blow off his wife like Steve just did. Kate could have easily invited Jamie instead or hired a bodyguard. She didn't and the reason is she and Steve are a couple and he plays daddy to her children.

Amber, if you read here, just consider who your Gosselin insider source is. Don't get played by the ultimate Masterminder.

Clearly Jon has made himself available to see his kids on visitation days. Krap would never allow Jon to see a concert with the twins, so she clearly chooses to HIRE Steve and pay for his ticket, so the twins can go to a concert. What a nut job - 39 years old and needs a body guard when no one gives a crap anymore. I am 100% sure the twins did not want a body guard there.

Part of the issue with tabloids like ROL is time. They want to put their information out there as quickly as possible, so there are errors in reporting and not enough checking of sources.

JMO said...

When will TFW ever move on with her life, put ALL of her kids first, and stop with the filming of them? Never mind treat the boys like real people. So disturbing.

I honestly don't care what she does solo, but after the most recent episode of the tups turn 10, I find her more disturbing than ever. The boys need help as second class citizens. Jon, where are you?

TLC stinks said...

The only reason Kate is friends with anybody is to get something out if it for HERSELF. I think Deanna and Jamie hang in there because they, too, get something like face time on TV and tabloids. Kate, in turn, uses them to prove she has friends and used them as "Gosselin insiders" to to spread her side of the story. ITA it's obvious when Jon is bashed and Steve is described as the only consistant man in the children's lives.

There was no reason to throw in a slam like that otherwise, especially one that's just not true. It sounds like Deanna to me, she tends to say things like that.

The RH book explains that the children are spoiled with material possessions and opportunities but they have come to mean little to them and they expect them. He found brand-new toys in the trash when Kate could have 'given back." The kids do seem to fight over the smallest thing, as in " mine, all mine" Sad to see. It won't make them happy.

Tuckers Mom said...

JMO- I also don't care if Kate goes on in television. I doubt she will get a real job or show of her own. So, she will continue to use the kids to stay on television.
Her behavior on the specials was even odder than usual. Very aware of herself with much bad acting- very very scripted to craft her message.
Kate badly needed an acting coach.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

What a sad commentary on TFW's life when we can almost
guarantee her only 2 friends/sources are Jamie and Deanna.
Both of whom have made money off of TFW, and, consequently
(as one commenter angrily accused Beth), made money off of
the children by working behind the scenes at/appearing on
the TLC specials.

Only 2 people who can vouch for you? And not a single
blood relative in sight? #RARE

If Amber really wants to do some digging she needs to look up that Philly reporter guy to see what he has to say about TFW and Steve at that Red Cross event. His twitter info is in the archives here and I always believed that there was more to the story than he let on. Unless someone got to him and paid him off for all his pictures (and had him sign a non disclosure), he might have quite the story to tell.

I wonder if those nose bleed seats were the best that TFW could get or were all that she'd pay for since she was footing the bill for this concert.

I don't get it either. You go all that way and then you can't even barely see them? Like little aunts down there.

I'm not a big concert goer but just like you if I do go I actually want to be able to see the band.

MikeB said...

My problem with the whole concert situation is why did both TFW and Rat Claws have to go? I can understand one person watching out for the kids, but two? If Kate didn't think she could provide adequate supervision then she should have just hired Steve to accompany the kids at a respectable distance.

Kate's presence served no purpose at the concert and probably detracted from the kids enjoyment. I think M & C would have found it much more enjoyable if WOS saved the money she spent on her ticket and the travel arrangements and instead sent them with a few of their friends to the Philly concert date. The twins could have fun memories made with their friends rather than being herded around like dogs on a leash. Instead they get to sit next to their mother in full hooker regalia and her married boobyguard while the whole episode is broadcast to the world via twitter and the gossip websites. Yeah, those are going to be some good childhood memories.

They are really just too old to be doing this with just their mother. It's not like they never spend time with her. She's constantly trailing along with them to various things.

They need to be allowed to attend and enjoy things like this with girlfriends. Kate can be there or not be there whatever she feels they are ready for, but she needs to keep a respectful distance. Bringing Steve along only serves to call attention to them. And taking pics of them like this like they're 6 is embarrassing. She really needs to let them grow up.

I tend to end up at a lot of these free summer in the park shows they have. It may just be a cover band or a band that never really made it but show up 20 minutes early and you can put your blanket down front row and see and hear everything great.

What a letdown that must have been for them as they climbed and climbed and climbed to get to their seats. No wonder they looked less than pleased in the picture that the concertgoer posted because they were probably trying to catch their breath. I wonder if TFW's feet were sore after the climb. Pardon my mirth but schadenfreude at its finest! Personally I'm glad that she posted the picture because it just shows how mediocre she really is. She either wouldn't spring for better seats or the contacts to get her better seats have dried up (there are always VIP seats held in reserve for last minute important guests). My how the mighty have fallen. There won't be many bragging rights about this concert since TFW posted that picture. Sometimes it's better to just stay home and watch it on TV.

Depends on the definition of being "outed." Nobody should be outed in the sense that names are given, along with their employment information, life history, police reports, addresses, phone number and the like. However, if this is a Catfish, an old guy in a facility somewhere, or is someone Kate hired (or Kate herself, Steve, multiple Milos), then I'd like to know if those on Twitter have been taken for a ride all along.

I was thinking the same thing. These kids have been conditioned to expect special treatment. Venues shut down for them, box seats, special access, running the bases, a penguin brought to the airport to greet them. According to Kate, that kind of treatment is their "normal". So, to think they would be okay with nosebleed seats and no access is a fantasy. They have been taught to expect more. Without TLC, they not only had to say goodbye to the fun trips, but also to the VIP treatment they were accustomed to. What did all that special treatment teach them? Do they (like their mother) think that the only work worth doing has to be in front of a camera, because that is what gets them all the extras? Are they capable of being satisfied with being just two more faces in the crowd? Who knows?

Cara did not want to be there. She said she doesn't like One Direction. So why didn't invite Mady's best friend? Because it would allow no privacy for her and Steve. I would bet they spent the night somewhere in a two-bedroom suite.

I just posted this a.m. how Twitter quiet she was and within hours she posted that picture. How strange. And of course, no mention of Steve. That's usual.

It's nice of her to see that Mady gets to go to a concert of a band she likes, but no consideration for Cara. And once again, it's all about Kate and what a super, duper mother she is granting Mady's wish.

Millicent said...

I agree that Kate's prime motivation in going to the concert with the twins and having Steve in tow - was to see and be seen and remarked upon. As someone else said, she wants to look like a cool, hip mom who is best buds with her teen girls and is important enough to have her own personal bodyguard.

I don't have a teen daughter, but I have a teenage son. At age 13, I would not have let him attend a big concert with a friend, unless there was some adult supervision (myself, his dad, another parent, etc.) However, I would have probably gotten him and his friend(s) seats that were perhaps a few rows in front of mine. Enough space so he could feel like he was just hanging with his friends, but close enough where I could make sure no creeps were bothering them.

Right now, my son has been badgering me to allow him to attend an Eminem concert down in southern California. He'll be nearly 17 but I'm still undecided as to whether I'll allow him to go (with a friend). But one thing is for sure - if I do say yes, I'm not attending with him, nor taking a bodyguard to drive us and help me navigate my way to our seats.

Blowing In The Wind said...

I just can't imagine clomping around at Meadowlands in those high heels. I recently went to a ballgame in Baltimore, and my feet hurt from all the walking, and I was wearing sensible shoes. Why would you wear hooker heels...for what purpose? Just to be noticed, to be fashionable? I hope she had a pair of flip flops tucked away in her bag. Those heels had to be uncomfortable, not to mention trying to negotiate those steps in the nosebleed section. That's just plain dumb.

It looks like TFW didn't check out this venue very well. There are many sites that show the seating chart, how many floor seats there are, how many stadium seats, etc., and you can get an idea how far back (or up you will be). Many venues will give you a view to the stage from your seats. There would have been much better seating available had she gone to various ticket vendors online, but you can pay through the nose for those tickets, especially for performers such as this who can command high prices. That said, she probably didn't want to spend the money. Gone are the days of VIP box seats at ballgames where they get to run the bases; or backstage passes to shows; or center court floor seats to basketball games. I imagine this must have been very disappointing for the twins, but hey, that's life among "regular" folks.

Formerly Duped said...

Well, they did go to Cara's favorite singer, Demi Lovato. But i agree, these girls do expect that golden platter. And the younger girls treat the boys like their mother treats them ( In the special, Hannah grabbed what looked like an elastic rope thing out of Aaden's hand, with a rude 'Give me that!') One example.Never mind the punching and slapping of the boys. It's such a hierarchy there. The worst I think is how vitriolic the twins' attitude to all the tups is.
Kate, then Zorro, then the twins, then the girl tups, then the boys, then Shoka and the fish- wonder if she punishes Fizzy and Finn or whatever his name is?

Ingrid said...

Kate took the girls to Demi Lovato (Cara's fave). I see nothing wrong with the twins going together to each other's favorite concert. Just because they are not enthralled with a performer(s) doesn't mean they can't enjoy going anyway.

First concert I ever went to was about $4-5. Helen Reddy I think. I was very upset when I went to Foreigner and Styx concerts a few years later and they had went up to $7!!!!!!!!! There are only a very few I would consider going to now days because of the prices. (I think $30 is too much.) I would only go if I got to be super close to the stage. If I was able to grift the tickets I would love to see Cher, Alice Cooper, Journey, and Phil Collins close up!

As someone who has been to many concerts, if it's a band you absolutely love, then even nosebleed seats are "good enough". I've seen shows sitting on the floor and all the way up to the nosebleed sections. We were literally the last row at the top of the arena for a ZZ Top concert. But it was in Houston, their hometown, so the show was still amazing. Some bands, such as Motley Crue, actually find ways to cater to the nosebleed seats. It's the entire reason Tommy Lee's amazing drum solo kits exist....for the nosebleed folks.

While the G kids may be accustomed to "the best", when you're 13 & your teenaged crush band is in town, you're just thrilled that you got to go. If the band is good enough live, they make every seat a great seat. I'm just glad for the twins that they got to see who they wanted to, both of them. Cara got Demi & Mady got 1D. Now if Kate would just do the same "special" treatment for each tup individually.

I'll go along with the little specks, but no matter where you sit, there are screams and singing along. The sound system is usually very good and you can hear what is happening on stage.

Screaming happens at concerts, even oldies shows. Go to a Springsteen concert sometime. Nobody sits. Everyone stands packed in like sardines, shoulder to shoulder, front to back, for over three hours. If you're claustrophobic at all, it could drive you insane. You find a spot, you stake yourself there, and if you have to go to the bathroom, you're out of luck.

Millicent said...

I am enjoying reading the different concert stories. It is a very difficult job to be a parent, no matter what era you are raising your children in. However, our children will eventually reach the age of 18 and technically be adults and free to go where they please, with whom they please, at any time they please. (Yeah, if they are still in high school or living under our roof, as parents we'll probably still have some rules and curfews, but you get my drift.) So as difficult as it is for me sometimes, I have to step back and let my kid go forth into the world, without my protective presence. He needs to develop his inner instincts, his street smarts, and his ability to make good judgment calls without mom pointing him in the right direction.

I can still remember the first time I allowed him to walk to the corner store by himself, having to cross at a busy signalled intersection. My heart was in my mouth until he returned home (probably 15 minutes later). I'm a complete worry wart, but I know I have to let him have increasing amounts of independence, so that when he does reach adulthood, he's already got some experience on handling situations on his own.

The point is moot when it comes to Kate -- because she's never demonstrated much concern for the welfare and safety of her children. Her attendance at the concert with them was not that of a protective mother, but rather an opportunity for her to have Steve by her side.

I wrote a long-winded post last night and somehow lost it. Ugh. Anyway the gist of it was she should have sat in her car in the parking lot and let the girls go in and attend the concert themselves. She's got a smart phone and ipad so I'm certain she could have entertained herself while the girls had fun with kids closer to their ages.Or walked around or shopped somewhere near. I'm not familiar with the venue or city so am not sure what's available. Her only reason for attending with them and bringing the booby guard was to draw attention to herself. She just will not let them enjoy normal teenager things without butting her big head in and attempting to get publicity. It's just pitiful and her quest for any publicity is going to end so badly that it scares me a bit.

I applaud Amber for her Twitter discussions with the sheeple. I'd enjoy it for about an hour and then would go postal. I also don't believe Gladys is real. She's either paid to portray her role as Kate's #1 Fan Girl or is one of Kate's personalities.

I am hoping that enough of their dad has rubbed off on these girls and they are actually happy to get to act like everyone else...even if that means sitting in the nose bleed section!

If their mom bought these tickets last December (I thought that was a different concert), then maybe at that time C liked this band.

And you know what would have been nice and smart of TFW? If she would have given away she and ratclaws tickets. She could have given them to the twins' friends or done a contest for them. She could have made some teenagers week and made herself look good at the same time. Then she and ratty could have made out in the parking lot or she could have paid for a romantic dinner at a nearby restaurant. P.S. I do know she's neither nice nor smart but I hoped desperation would cause her to start pretending to be.

She needs acting lessons on how to pretend to be human.

I remember when Kate said she had received good news recently. In light of everything that happened in the last day or two, I wonder if she found out Steve was actually going to go with her. Maybe Steve told her he decided to leave his wife. Or maybe someone did give her the tickets to the concert.

I know one thing, if Steve was really trying to save his marriage, he would not have gone to the concert with Kate.

Another thought, maybe Steve knows what happens to people who cross Kate. Maybe Steve is afraid of dropping Kate. Who knows, she may end up suing him.

What I find so funny about that tweet of Kate's is her comment that she was having so much fun with her girls. Huh? Did you see that mug of hers. Sorry, that was no happy face, just her usual sour puss.

Got a little info from one of my kids who attends quite a few concerts. Showed him Kate's picture and he says that venue is big. Her nosebleed seats were about $25.00 per ticket. It was not a problem getting tickets, especially those seats. Kate could have bought tickets day before the concert so have no idea what the Dec. thing was all about.
A friend of my son bought tickets for the Jayz and Beyoncé concert the day before ten rows from the stage.

So I would say that Kate has become mediocre.

If I may, I'd like to bring the conversation back around to Beth Carson for a moment.

Some people wondered why Beth wouldn't have reported Kate after reading the journal? I too wondered this but then when I read her comments about how the two of them holed up in a hotel and Kate told her her story, it dawned on me that Beth was probably never allowed to touch that journal. Kate probably told her it was just a memory jogger that would help her tell Beth various stories, and flesh them out, in some sort of chronological order. Then Beth could take notes to help her later to write the book. If Kate is all about control, then this would allow her to sugar coat her life story and skip over those very dark episodes.

We don't know how much Beth may have personally witnessed. Kate may have tried to be on her best behavior when she was around.

Well, it is certainly possible that they each could spill secrets about the other if they wanted to. I feel fairly confident that Steve was involved in some financial shenigans played by Kate during the divorce process. He was at the very least, aware of money being moved around. There is some indication that Steve was at least considered as trustee of the children's trust accounts - no way of knowing if that idea got shot down or not.

But I'm sure Kate and Steve have some secrets between them, and perhaps Kate uses that leverage to get him to say "how high?" when she says "jump."

I can practically hear Mady sitting down in her nosebleed seat and saying to her mother, "I liked it better when you were famous"

Once again, the "unit" philosophy is in full force. Cara does not like One Direction, she has made that clear. Why not let Mady choose a friend who is a fan on this boy band (and there are many) and let Mady truly enjoy the concert. Why sit beside your less than enthusiastic sister during your special night when you could have another "One Directioner" screaming right along with you? I just don't get it.

Back in the day (60's/70's) we used to walk down the boardwalk to Convention Hall in Asbury Park to see whatever group happend to be playing there (usually on a summer weekend). Some we paid for (tickets weren't very expensive) and some we just sat on the beach and listened. We were always in a good sized group ("the gang") and we used to make fun of the Benny's down for the weekend. We also used to go to the Stone Pony and listen to Bruce Springsteen before he was "The Boss". As we got a little older and the rock n roll revivals became popular we'd go to the local bars to see the different oldies groups (remember when the drinking age was 18?). I got up and sang with the Coasters and did the limbo rock with Chubby Checker. Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance forever and a day....

My first concert was the Osmonds, it was either 72 or 73. I was right in front, 3rd row from the speakers, could hardly hear them, cause of the music and the screaming. Had a hard time hearing for at least 2 days after and had a sore throat. I got my Minister of my church & his wife to take me & my friend to the concert(my mom did not have a car, nor did my friend have access to a car). The Minister & his wife, told us to meet them at the entrance of the venue, we were 13. I don't think they wanted to be in with screaming girls.

Makes me wonder if Kate was ever on the phone in Dec, getting tickets at all? It was all BS. I think she was fishing for someone to give her tickets. Cause as someone here said, she could have recently got tickets. For a person who is piecing & patching, one does not spend for tickets especially out of town tickets, you wait to they come close to where you live, & save up.

Yes, Kate yet made again a fool of her kids. Kate should have never posted a pic from the concert. Cause, as someone else said, the girls will be teased, in school when it starts. Of course they do, otherwise they would open their eyes and see their rambling about Kate never doing the things she's accused of or worse saying Kate has the right to raise her own kids how she wants. Got it. Beating your toddlers, throwing them in their beds, unbelievable child abuse is ok because they are her kids. Lather, rinse, repeat.

True, and it depends where you buy the tickets. Scalpers would charge much more than $25 a seat, even in the nosebleed, and particularly if it's a sold-out show. Don't forget that no matter where you buy the tickets, there will be fees on top of it, so I would guess that seats in the peanut gallery would run about fifty dollars per ticket.

I wouldn't think a CA would pertain to writing a book. It seems that the CA's that were signed by various people, had to do with filming and what was going on in the house. Beth and TCFW would hole up in a hotel at the weekends with regard to the book. Why would you need a CA for that. Having said that, I can't imagine Beth would have given an interview if she legally couldn't talk.

Then they may have been waiting a very long time. Even if they were in the area, the cost would have been the same. One Direction hasn't done a concert in this area, and who knows the longevity of the band. For fans who love a band, going to NJ for a show is nothing. You go.

"Cause, as someone else said, the girls will be teased, in school when it starts. You know, I thought you & your mom are famous, that is the best your mom could do for seats"

&&&&&&&&&&&

I don't think so. Kids going back to school will be excited about new classes, friends, boys, getting into the routine rather than teasing the girls about seats that they had at a show a month before. I really doubt if classmates follow the Gosselin saga just to tease the kids. They aren't "up" on all of the news. They are concerned with things in their own lives, sports, sleepovers, getting together with friends rather than keeping up with what Kate is wearing and if she has hair extensions.

The good thing is I think that's true from my own experience. Kids simply do not care if your mom is famous. Kids, most kids, really don't give a rat's patootie. Not at this age. And definitely not this KIND of celebrity. I bet they would care if Kate was a major league baseball star or something. That's really not the kind of celeb she is. Plus, these kids have had 9 years to get used to this family. Even Mady herself once said truly it's only a few kids who tease her the rest are cool.

It is possible some of them did see the update special and that might spark enough interest for some teasing, but I hope not.

It depends where you look for tickets. There are so many sites out there that allow you to search from lowest to highest. A friend of mine had great seats to a Paul concert and paid only $125 per ticket...right of center floor, less than 15 rows from the stage. You just have to know where to look and what you are willing to pay.

ebay is another place to get concert tickets, especially when sellers lower the cost right before the show. They don't want to get stuck with the tickets.

Sometimes, kids can be cruel and tease. But we may not be giving this generation of students enough credit. They are much more aware of the hurtful nature of teasing than my grade school generation. I think most of the kids who know the twins may know that their mom is a royal bitch and may even feel a little sorry for them.

They may live in a big house, they may get to go to occasional concerts, they once may have traveled to a variety of places - but kids are smart enough to see that the downside to all of that is that their mother is a royal bitch and often makes their lives miserable.

Jeanne said...

Does anyone know what grade the tups are really going into? At that age I began 5th grade (I had a summer birthday) but I'm confused by some being held back to match others. When I saw tweets saying the kids should know 12x12, well they should if they finished 3rd. But division is a harder thing for some kids. They don't see the connection right away between 12x12=144 and 144/12=12. This is actually quite normal. What is not normal is that she would scream when presented with a flashcard. It also seems to me that the tups who didn't need to be held back would have less trouble with many concepts. They would be ahead of others in their class in understanding ways to think about things. Plus I thought every single child did very well in every single subject. This tweet says no to that.

Jeanne said...

Yes, I think Steve makes sure he is paid for all time he spends with Kate. No, I do not think he is there as a bodyguard or even that he thinks he is a bodyguard. Quite frankly, Kate is incompetent at all life skills. She cannot even rent her own limo and go to the concert with the girls. She can't figure out where seats are or go through security. She certainly cannot look on a map and drive there.

Kids should go to a concert alone when you as the parent think they are ready. But you can do better. Let them bring a friend or two. Make an effort to not listen to conversations. Pretend you're not sitting with them by the way you sit and act. Do not go dressed for attention. Set rules ahead so you don't have to talk rules there. And don't bring your boyfriend.

Kate and the kids are even more recognizable with Steve there. Kate is obviously dressed for a date. They have to be a couple. She appears to trust him totally. That quote about Steve being the male influence is telling. They see Steve more than they see their father. More than 4 days every 2 weeks. From film we can tell he isn't there because he cares for the kids. He is there because he's getting some.

TLC stinks said...

Yep, I bet that "little worry" that popped up in Kate's head a while back was that Steve may not be able to take them to the concert.

She sure dressed the part as a tease for the concert. If Steve is indeed back with Gina, I can see Kate dressing like a vamp to show him what he is missing. It's so, so obvious she dresses like that for him.

My thought process when I saw they were, in fact, sitting in the nosebleed seats:
1) Haha, the mighty have fallen
2) Wait, WHY are they in the nosebleeds? Kate must have taken too long to buy them. Concerts like One Direction sell fast.
3) Wait, there's always the secondary broker market. Tickets are more expensive, but Kate can afford it!
4) Kate was too cheap to buy from a broker? Yes, she's cheap, but she's also accustomed to the best. Forget the twins, SHE wouldn't want to sit in the crap seats, so wait a minute...ding ding ding!
5) This was intentional! We saw in the specials how dedicated Kate is to keeping up her persona that she's just a normal, hard-working single mom! "See, guys, I'm sitting in the nosebleed seats just like you!"

It's also worth noting that while she would make this concession at the sake of her daughters, if it was a concert SHE really cared about...she wouldn't be sitting up top.

Steve has been the Jon substitute. What's up with an adult woman not being able to travel anywhere (outside of her home's vicinity) without an escort? I think she is lazy and just wants to feel important with her "bodyguard". I also think she does not want to be bothered with any fans approaching her. God forbid she say hello. She really thinks she rates up there with the super stars, LOL.

The tups should be going into fifth grade but are only going into fourth. At their age my dd was in the fifth grade...the senior class of elementary school. She and her friends were safety patrols, office helpers, lunch helpers. She roamed around the neighborhood with her peers, playing four square and wiffle ball, etc. She came home to the house by herself until I got home from school for the first time that year I believe (it may have been 6th grade). Anyhow, I'm pretty sure we weren't doing basic times table flash cards in fifth OR fourth grade.

It could be she was depending on snagging free tickets but that fell through so she was late buying tickets. It was something she promised to Mady and I think there would have been hell to pay from Mady if she did not get to go to the concert. I bet Mady complained about the seats. I know my daughter would have. Typical selfishness at that age.

So that is done. I will be curious to see if Steve pops up again. I don't see Kate getting booked for anything these days. Of course, she is probably plotting something for the twin's birthday in Oct. and there is always her tweeting about "friends and family" at the house for Thanksgiving, LOL.

I don't post often but I do read here everyday and with all the talk about concerts, I'd like to share a recent show I've been to.

I'm a huge country fan from Quebec, Canada. When I heard that George Strait was retiring and giving his last concert at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on June 7, I wanted to go.

It was awesome! George Strait with Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Faith Hill, Sheryl Crowe, Luke Bryan, Vince Gill, Martina McBride, Jason Aldean, Asleep at the Wheel and 104,973 fans.

Since I retired last year I've visited Florida; New York, NY; Branson, Missouri; Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Texas; Nashville, Memphis; and have already have another trip planned to Atlanta, Georgia.

I love the history, various cultures, people, and the variety of things to do in the States. What a beautiful country you live in.

Sorry, but I just had to let you all know how lucky you are. Now back to the same old boring subject known as Kate.
