Preview of Gosselin update special draws wrath from around the web

It seems we weren't the only ones horrified by Kate's treatment of Mady in the promo clip from TLC (warning, the video prominently features the children), which showed a two minute segment from the update special that will air at the end of June. The glee across her face when she described buying iPhones for the children for the purpose of taking them away was disturbing. The disrespectful manner in which Kate handled a relatively small disruption from the 13-year-old resonated negatively with bloggers around the web, and here are some of their thoughts:

"Well, Mady is still defying her mom and in this clip from their 2-hour torture piece of a special, Sergeant Asshole McPlasticFace tells her child army that she (read: the producers) have all sorts of “fun things” planned for Spring Break. Nobody makes“fun things” sound like the opposite of fun the way Kate Gosselin does." Michael K., Dlisted

"Last we saw Reading’s own Kate Gosselin, she appeared alongside her daughters for a stoically angry Today show interview that promoted their upcoming return to TLC with Kate Plus 8: Sextuplets Turn 10. Now, we’ve gotten a first look at the show, and it is similarly stoic and angry. Who would’ve thought?" Nick Vadala, Philly.com

"What TLC does not realize is they are showing Mady to be the normal one in the bunch; refusing to play along and act like everything is fine. Mady says; “we are not going to have fun." You can tell it is taking everything Kate has to not lose it.  Good job, Mady.  Let the world know how dysfunctional things really are." Miss Amia, Reality T.V. scandals
And finally a blogger at Kate's former employer, The Stir, called the stunt a "twisted trick":
"Kids test their parents' limits, and we need to set up boundaries and stick to them. It's GOOD to see Kate disciplining her kids without resorting to violence ('memba the wooden spoon incident?). That said, it seems a little odd to specifically buy something nice for your child with the intention of using it to punish them. For lack of a better word, it seems ... untrustworthy? It sounds like a Trojan Horse of parenting ... here kid, here's a gift, now I can use it to destroy you. Now, to be clear, that doesn't mean you shouldn't put limits on the use of gadgets because they are, after all, a privilege. But we are supposed to buy presents for our kids out of the goodness of our hearts, not with an ulterior motive! That's part of showing love and respect for our kids. And we all know respect is a two-way street." Jeanne Sager, The Stir
Great insight from all the above bloggers and that's only some of it.

Late summer nights begin...Kids are singing EVERY word of the Full House show open..& bunch of us r piled in my room watching together!
********
What is with TFW and her fascination with old tv shows? She claims that her kids watch re-runs of their own show, and now supposedly they love Full House (an old show from the late 80's to early 90's) so much that they've memorized every word of the theme song? What next, The Golden Girls? Growing Pains? Who's the Boss?

She's delusional. I always try to guess what really happened. Perhaps she stood the kids in a line up and told them that their fun summer was commencing with a re-run of Full House. "Who loves that show?" demands TFW. The tup girls slowly raise their hands, looking at who will go first. The boys look down at their feet. Cara looks bored and Mady say, "Fun, Not!" She's given one shot at redemption, if she can sing the entire theme song without a mistake. Mady and TFW get into a loud argument and the rest of the kids try to slink away without being noticed.

Tada! It's transformed into the first of many fun summer evenings spent in the splendor that is TFW's hoarder-style bedroom, watching shows their mother wished she could watch as a kid, if it weren't for her meddling parents!

One lucky child will be tasked with carefully combing out Mommy's blond wig. Who will it be?

I really think they're a bit old for Full House and that kids these days are going to find the program dated. The problem is there is just so much else out there for kids to watch in the way of TV shows geared to them it's really hard to believe they want to watch something from when their mother was a child.

I don't know what that's about other than perhaps Kate is stuck at the mental age of 15 including all the shows that were on when she was 15. She must have been a teen when this show was popular.

They showed Nev's girlfriend. Aw she's pretty. Aw, he loves her so much. I want him to be happy like he's a brother or son. His original documentary was that moving that you really felt for him and rooted for him.

''Jon took ten years of "thinking before he speaks" only to be called horrible, despicable names that berated him worse than Kate ever did, IMO. I RARELY EVER read ANYTHING that mentions him in a good light. Excluding this blog. Even when it is just giving mention that he is the ex husband of Kate they use "that douche bag ex of Kate".

It is sad and demoralizing to him as a human being. In the show I saw him as one who dearly loved his kids, his wife and wanted his marriage to work so his kids could have a two parent family. For him being a playboy to what he tried to be after marriage takes character and strong will. He was just beaten down by an evil wife with selfish immoral goals and controlled by the media who SET HIM UP and TORE HIM DOWN.

I have shared here before that I am a recovering addict who has been through a hard life but not half of what he has gone through. He has become worn torn and rough around the edges yet he still plugs along doing his best under the circumstances to show his love to his kids. He has more character and strength than most I know. The big difference is his was put out for all to see. Yes he is responsible for his own actions but let it be the third side to the story, which one has mentioned on this thread already, THE TRUTH after hearing from both sides . That doesn't mean his side said and edited by the media either. Which really, unless anyone spoke to him personally, that's how everyone has received any information about them. Where lays the truth?''

I don't post here very frequently but do read here a lot.

My son is 10 and LOVES Full House. He was watching Nickelodeon one night when it switched to Nick at Nite, and that's the first show on Nick at Nite at 9 pm. I was doing the dishes and didn't realize he was watching it until he came in and was talking to me about this "funny new show." He had no idea that it was from when I was around his age. So it is plausible that the kids stumbled upon it like my son did. Do I think they're all piled in her room watching it together? Doubtful. But I do think it's a show that could appeal to any of the kids' ages.

I think this is one of the reasons she went so far on DWTS.
So I agree with Future RN, Full House is still appealing to many kids and has found a new audience through Nickelodeon, so I don't find it surprising that TFW's kids like it as well.

Explosive Tell-All Kate Gosselin Book Being Conveniently Re-Released Same Week As TLC Special — ‘It’s Fictitious & Defamatory,’ She Says

"Kate Gosselin dropped her hacking and wiretapping lawsuit last year against Robert Hoffman for an explosive tell-all book about her family and it might be coming back to bite her."

“Kate knew this might be coming. She feels if the book gets published again and stays published, it’s still defamatory to have behind her name,” a source close to the mother of eight told Radar.

“It’s fiction. A former tabloid reporter doesn’t have first hand knowledge of anything. Only someone who lived in the house would have true knowledge and Robert Hoffman did not live at the Gosselin home.”

OK so TFW's camp is in full PR mode blaming Jon, claiming he is splitting profits and that he said he would stop the book if she paid alimony. BUT supposedly they don't talk. My assumption has always been that Jon was desperate to get out of that situation in order to take the pressure off his kids. As we now know, (1) TLC was not only suing him at the time, they were PAYING for Kate's divorce lawyers, and we all know TLC wanted to keep the Gosselin money-train running at any cost; (2) Jon was under the impression, at that time, that whatever he was "giving up" in the divorce would be brought back in the form of the "media career" he thought he might have--as in the Super Bowl commercial that was supposedly on the table for him right at this time along with the infamous Ed Hardy sponsorship; and (3) don't forget, he paid upwards of $22,000 per MONTH in CS for nearly two years after the divorce. My assumption on that has always been that it was payment to him by TLC FOR THE USE OF HIS KIDS, and the bulk of it went right back into Katie Kreider's pocket. He also has publicly stated that his legal bills from that time were huge.

The very idea that Jon would be asking, after FIVE years, for ALIMONY from Kate (who, by the way, has NO REGULAR SOURCE OF INCOME) is utterly ridiculous, and I cannot believe that even ROL got suckered by that one. The ROL article is right out of Kate's playbook, right down to repeating that Jon traded child support for Kate being able to film the kids as she wants, and that "Kate and the kids are happy to be filming again." BS! As has been stated over and over, a family court judge would NOT permit that sort of a "deal" to be done. And if it WAS done, it needs to be exposed, and BOTH of these parents should be sanctioned by the court.

Alimony is still around in PA and some states but it's not supposed to be a tool to just screw the parent over. It's supposed to be a "get back on your feet" type thing that you don't pay forever. It's supposed to make up for perhaps some of the things you brought to the marriage that may have hurt you financially, like not advancing your career because you were staying home at the kids so spouse could work, or paying for your spouse's school instead of going to school yourself. I don't see that either Jon or Kate have much leverage to request alimony of the other.

I guess I should't be shocked but I still can't believe some of the serious accusations Radar throws out there if they're not true. Maybe they have a good insurance policy. What is their game exactly? I can only conclude that they've weighed the pros and cons and determined that being the publication to say the most wildest and craziest things is worth the gain to them even IF they are sued.

I really get the sense that that reporter had no idea the gravity of what she was saying when she accused them of making a secret negotiation.

And I don't think the sheep do either. None of them seem to be grasping that in the course of trying to make Jon look bad by saying he negotiated something illegal, they've implicated their queen Kate in the same thing. If I were Kate I'd be fit to be tied someone accused me of illegal activity or doing something behind a judge's back. No sir. But dumb Kate doesn't care what they want to say about her as long as it makes Jon look bad. What a mess.

Your comment makes a lot of sense. I would be interested where you got the information that Jon paid $22,000 a month for nearly 2 years and that the money came from TLC.

It's always been my understanding he did pay that amount for a time, but never heard it was for nearly two years, and I don't get why TLC would be suing Jon yet giving him $22,000 per month.

The "source" of the ROL article says:

Isn't that the sheeple's mantra? That Kate(and Kate alone) puts a roof over their heads, sends them to a good school, and provides for them? And what athletics? As far as we know, Cara is the only one involved in athletics. If others were, I'm sure Kate would let the world know.

This story has "sheeple" written all over it, especially the "alimony" part. Like Robert is not going to publish the book so that Jon can get alimony while Robert himself has massive legal bills.

The part about Jon and Robert splitting the "profits" from the book is also way out there. Does the "source" expect it to become a national bestseller? How much profit will there be?

Jon is not out for anything. The kids only probably only want normal, like their friends at school have. The only one who wants something is Kate. She wants to be infamous, not famous. Which she is already, there is nowhere else to go. But back down.

Yes, but it is totally up to a judge to decide whether it's temporary alimony, or permanent alimony. Depending upon how the judge rules, there is such a thing as lifetime alimony, although that is rare. However, alimony is awarded and calculated during divorce settlement, NOT five years later. You're right. It's supposed to be a financial patch to get the spouse back on his/her feet right after the divorce. Asking for alimony now is like shutting the gate after the horse has escaped. A court would say, "Why now?" and it could open a whole new can of worms. Unless, of course, the source is claiming that another "secret deal" would be made without the sanction of the court.

This "insider" source really has sheeple written all over it because this source seems to be totally clueless regarding divorce/alimony laws in PA. I've said it before, ROL already went on national television claiming a secret deal was made, and now they're putting it out there that Jon is in cahoots with Robert and wants alimony. How they can get away with this is anyone's guess, but I suppose they just throw caution to the wind and hope that those they smear don't have the financial means to drag them through a lawsuit. One of these days their luck is going to run out.

Who goes for alimony 5 years after a divorce? Hasn't that ship sailed? And they call it spousal support these days not alimony

&&&&&&&&

Local, there still is "alimony" in PA, which isn't the same as spousal support. I thought I remembered that, but had to look it up just to make sure:

"Spousal support and alimony pendente lite are both orders made before a divorce is final. Spousal support is support paid after the parties separate, but before a divorce is final; it may be ordered before a divorce action is even filed. Pendente lite means "while the action is pending." Alimony pendente lite is a temporary order for support made after the divorce action is filed but before there is a final divorce decree. Orders for spousal support and alimony pendente lite can’t be in place at the same time...Unlike spousal support or alimony pendente lite, alimony is an order for support made at the time or after the final divorce decree is entered."

Of course, a lot of them are so busy at Summer Thug Camp that they may not have enough time to devote to this right now.

That's my understanding from something I read somewhere. Honey Boo Boo is the lead-in for ratings grabber.
******
Here's hoping that this newest season of Honey Boo Boo has less viewers than last season. I saw one commercial for the new season last night and it looks like the producers are now trying to frame June as "can do June" as they have her getting a job outside the home. I'm sure that's just for show. However, there's one of the many differences between TFW and June: June is apparently willing to give it a go, go along with the program and comply with what the producers would like for her to do.

I don't follow the show or have any idea how it was doing in the ratings, but I've got my fingers crossed that the viewers who like HBB and her family will not stick around to watch TFW berate and belittle her kids on camera. The two mothers couldn't be more different than oil and water.

Wow. How mighty we have fallen. Honey Boo Boo is going to be shown before kate to TRY to get the high viewing numbers to please stay just a little longer to at least watch the Gosselin Update special.

I saw a preview of HBB that will come on and Mama June said, I am getting a job. Of course she goes to a bakery shop. The woman there was using melted white chocolate and MJ said, What's that? And the woman said, chocolate. MJ just looked perplexed.

Wow. ROL has really exposed themselves to legal problems. I hope Jon sues ROL for even saying he is wanting alimony. These accusations and more are in sealed court documents that do not see the light of day forever. So, go to the source who would know what was in it. kate gets my vote. The sources have to be Deanna being coached by kate, or sheeple coached by kate. Isn't it stupid that ROL would write that garbage and say that someone would have to live in that house to know what is going on? Then have links to go to excerpts from Robert's book.

kate, in a rage, threw those computer disks out in the garbage which is fair game. She said it was lies and not true. Then she copyrights Mommy's Journal. Why would you go and spend your children's hard earned money to copyright a journey that she said was lies and not true. Doesn't make sense.

It is causing more controversy and that means it will sell more copies. I want to help Robert and the way I am is, I am buying the book. Who cares if he uses part of the money to get himself out of a financial hello pit with his medical and legal fees and still makes a significant donation to the charity that he said he would too when he first published.

Remember, he said the book was for Colin.

Talking about tv show theme songs, I never watched Fraiser until it came on at 2 am and I would be awake and wow, is it funny. LOVE LOVE LOVE when Daphne decides to marries Niles, love the RV in it. Then the RV when Martin, Fraiser and Niles were traveling on NYEve.

But the funniest RV episode is when they got pulled over and Daphne was not an American citizen and she was in Canada with a British accent. She said the only word she could say that would sound like our accent was Sure. So when the cop would ask her questions, she would answer Sure. He was still suspicious and then Martin piped up and gave a sob story about Eddie and declaring him at the border. And gave his I was a cop for decades speech. The cop had mercy on them. They drove off laughing so hard!

So sorry, I degressed! I had never heard the theme song to Fraiser, just the piano in the beginning with the Seattle skyline. Well one night it was going off and I heard the song and it was so funny. Salads and Scrambled Eggs! So funny. A couple of days later it was a millionaire question pretty high up 100K or 250K and I knew it!

I'm just wondering, though, if they've gotten in this thing so far that they just can't stop. It's an addiction, it's war, and even though they must know what they are doing is wrong, in order to save face among the flock, they have to keep doing it. Once they've gotten this far, there is no turning back. They can't quite cold turkey.

Another possibility is that they are so immature that they think that this is all fun and games. Read some of their tweets and you know that a few of them are stuck in the Middle School years. It's really an interesting study in fan psychology. It's just too bad that when they make these things up, people are hurt in the process.

Sometimes when Milo tweets Kate, she reminds me of my 3 yr old granddaughter play acting with her dolls and asking them questions knowing she won't get a response.

Milo, I'm sure Kate is just relaxing by the pool without a care in the world. Keep trying to deflect, it's not working.

It may sound cheesy but I kind of understand this better thanks to Nev and Catfish. It's a great sociological study of this new internet relationship thing.

It feels like all these people are the same. They almost all have self esteem issues and almost all feel special and important being involved with a celeb on twitter. It is like a drug, and they need more and more and more of it and are willing to push it to the very max, even lie and much worse, to continue to have that "relationship" with Kate.

&&&&&&

Exactly, admin. I think that this is where Milo is coming from. Something is desperately missing in her life, whether it's self-esteem, family issues, or whatever. This "insider" relationship with Kate is the closest she is ever going to get to a celebrity, and it doesn't matter if it's an A-lister, or D-lister. She says she has Kate's back, and that makes her feel special, and needed. She (and others) can't defect because the withdrawal would be far too painful. Like you said, it's a drug. It's similar to that entire cult scene. Once you've been brainwashed, you have no independent or clear thinking of your own. I think that's where the majority of the die-hard fans are right now. Making things up as they go along, and putting it out there as fact isn't fun and games; it's dangerous and I just can't help but wonder where it's going to end.

In a half-awake state, did you ever grab the tube of Brylcreem and think it was toothpaste? It made your teeth glisten as well.

Oh my god that's so funny! It reminded me of the time my ex fell asleep on the couch and stumbled into the bathroom to brush his teeth before coming to bed. He accidentally brushed his teeth with A5-35 (joint pain reliever). He always brushed really hard too.

I was already in bed when I heard him next to me saying I don't think I used toothpaste. He then kept going ahhhhh, ahhhhh, ahhhhh, ahhhhh. I was trying so hard not to laugh out loud that I kept shaking the bed with my giggling. The funny part is that stuff penetrates over a period of time so it kept getting worse. I know I should feel bad about that but he is my ex for a reason. Thanks for stirring up that memory. I'm now sitting here chuckling to myself all over again.

By that logic, then, if someone's entire trash bag at the end of the driveway was filled with dirty diapers, baby wipes and empty cans of baby formula, it would be incorrect to conclude that there was a baby in the house because the person finding the bag wasn't a resident of that house.

Tabloid and tabloid blogs, and this includes even more upmarket ones like People flat out lie every single issue. I used to think there was at least some journalistic integrity even if they were just stories on the Kardashian's or Kate Middleton, not exactly nationaly important stuff, but found out that is sooo not the case. And like TFW they print absolutley stupid easily discovered lies too!

It is kind of depressing because it made me very weary of believing anything in print, no matter the publication. Plus it's hard to find any light news-based reading now. Sigh, to have back those innocent days.

Oh, boy. Now they're all coming back fast and furious. Name that show:

1. Just sit right back
And you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip,
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny ship...

2. Here's the story
Of a lovely lady
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls
All of them had hair of gold
Like their mother
The youngest one in curls...

3. ...They're a modern Stone Age family
From the town of Bedrock
They're a page right out of history...

4. Speed of lightning, roar of thunder
Fighting all who rob or plunder...

5. "Here I come to save the day"

6. Come ride the little train that is rolling down the tracks to the junction
Forget about your cares, it is time to relax at the junction...

7. A horse is a horse, of course, of course
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous ...

8. Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer who barely kept his family fed...

9. They're creepy and they're kooky
Mysterious and spooky
They're all together ooky...

10. Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?...

11. The bluest sky you've ever seen, in Seattle.
And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle.
Like a beautiful child
Growing up, free and wild...

12. ...Still, they're cousins,
Identical cousins and you'll find,
They laugh alike, they walk alike,
At times they even talk alike --
You can lose your mind,
When cousins are two of a kind.

13. Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'...

14. One banana, two banana, three banana, four.
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more...

15. I love you, you love me
We're a great big family...

16. It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

17. Well we're movin on up,
To the east side...

18. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Sclemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated.

19. Love, exciting and new
Come Aboard. We're expecting you.

20. Come and knock on our door.....
We've been waiting for you......

I think the ''drivel'' is TCFW's 15 year old mind's idea of damage control. Her treatment of Mady in the preview clip is being trashed all over the internet, so she believes her twitter will 'prove' that her relationship w/Mady is wonderful. Of course since TCFMJG has no clue how NORMAL people would behave, it never entered her empty head that people would wonder exactly what you did. Where are the rest of the kids?
